Absolutely the best spot in Buffalo, if not the best spot I’ve ever been to. Tim is my barber but everyone there is amazing. Been having my cuts done here for two years and just for the “dudes day off” treatment, do yourself a favor and get that before any big event like a wedding. I highly recommend Tim and Salty Dog to anyone that’s looking for a chill, professional, and high quality experiences

Finding a barber who is great with children and also delivers a sharp, stylish haircut can be challenging, but Tim exceeded all expectations.From the moment we walked in, Tims bubbly and fun personality made my son feel comfortable and at ease. He was incredibly patient and child-friendly, engaging with my son in a way that kept him happy and entertained throughout the entire process.The haircut itself was fantastic—sharp, clean, and exactly what we wanted. I usually get my hair cut by my regular barber, Rick, but he wasn’t available today. I decided to stop by last minute and got a haircut from Eric instead. I have to say, Eric did an amazing job! Every barber I’ve gone to has delivered an excellent haircut, good conversation, and a quick and pleasant experience. Went here for the first time last night for a cut. Very accomodating getting me an appointment on short notice same day. My barber Alba was excellent. She stayed late, offered me a beverage, and was great to talk with. Walked in with my hair a mess and she cleaned it up perfectly, nice and even, exactly what I wanted or better. Got a nice part and she has skills with the straight razor; looks great. Will be back 100%

This was my first time at this shop and I had Tim. The atmosphere was great, the barbers were friendly and welcome everyone as they came in. The decor was great, a mix of modern and throw backs to the barber days of old. Tim was great, attentive and made great suggestions on to what the best look may be with my hair and beard. It was a great experience and I would recommend him and the shop 110%. This is how the barbershops I went to when I was younger felt like, with a modern twist.

Such a good place to go to. I’ve been here twice so far and I love it. My barber is Tim and he is just the best. He keeps things nice and simple while also communicating and acknowledging his customers. I’ve gotten my hair cut twice by him and it looks so good each time.

Definitely check my man Tim out! Great guy, knows how to keep you happy and keeps the conversation going. Best cut in a long time, maybe ever. Great atmosphere, cool old school type of vibe. Guys that don’t care if you don’t like the cut they want the truth, they just want you happy. I’ve never had a barber that I can confidently talk to. I’m typically nervous to say what I like, but not with Tim. He will make sure you walk out happy. That’s his one rule! I 100% suggest Tim and will be sticking with him from now on, personally. P.s. Tim if you’re reading this I accidentally clicked no tip on the card machine. Next time you’re getting double don’t worry, completely deserving of a double pay cut. $40 and you walk out fresh as ever.

Barbers are professional and personable. It was fun to get my hair cut. There is a pool table that you can use while you wait. The music is great. And free drinks! Can’t beat this for a barber shop. Ryan is my barber and would highly recommend him to anyone!

Every 5 star review here is fully justified. It was my first time in, and I had Tim. He was very welcoming and did a fantastic job. I told him what I generally do with my hair and gave him some creative liberties, which he definitely impressed me with. From the way he was speaking about the other barbers, they all seem very skilled, and I related them to juggernauts in their craft. I have already recommended Salty Dog and Tim to a few friends and will definitely be returning!

The description of services are poorly written, unclear, and make it difficult to understand what is actually being provided and what youre booking. Whoever is in charge of the website content would do well to edit it so its more accurate and understandable.Five stars for Gamy! Hes a fantastic barber, and I will be back to see him.

The best and most pleasant barber experience Ive had while living in Buffalo. Gamy always cut my hair and touched up my beard and consistently did an excellent job. Friendly conversation, welcoming atmosphere, low-key and always professional environment. Felt great about how I looked every time I left the shop. I needed a last minute cut for my wedding. A quick google turned me onto the Salty Dog Barbershop. Upon entering I was greeted by Gamy and instantly felt rapport with him like we’re old friends. He asked me what I was looking to do. I explained the idea I had and he went step by step what he was going to do. He let me know he was a Master Barber. I soon saw what that meant as this samurai of his craft effortlessly scultped my mess of a hair-do into a work of art. He told me he likes to make his clients feel sexy and man did I ever. When my wife saw my new cut she was in love. That was three years ago and I’ve been back every month since. I whole heartedly recommend this fine establishment to any and everyone who is looking to look their sexy best. Gamy will take good care of you.

My 5 year old has always been terrified to get his haircut, especially after my husband started taking him to his barber. When I switched to Tim, he was so patient with him and explained EVERY STEP. It means so much to my son that now when I say “we’re going to see Mr. Tim to get your haircut” he doesn’t absolutely lose it. Tim is also incredible at leaving my sons curls in great shape on top! I highly recommend!

Tim did an awesome job and worked with the picture I provided him I went from middle of the back hair to a short fade on the side and longer on top! I’d recommend him to anyone he suggested how he thought I should trim my beard and it looks awesome

Today was my first time going here and seeing Gamy after he was recommended to me. The place is gorgeous and spacious with great music playing, free drinks, and even a pool table to play while I waited (even though I didnt have to wait). Gamy greeted me and sat me down pretty much guessed exactly what I wanted done without me even saying anything. He was very sociable and easy to make conversation with, making the whole experience very enjoyable. All his tools and his workspace were clean and well kept, and he was nothing but professional and friendly the entire time. I made an appointment for my groomsmen and I to get shaped up before my wedding and Gamy really hooked us up! He called a week before to confirm and help me figure out how much time each person needs. Not only is a Gamy a great barber who gives great cuts but he was a really nice guy who is genuinely a really nice guy who cared about how I looked at my wedding. I am overdue on this, but wanted to make sure I got it done. Currently jetlagged on my honeymoon and knocking off my to-do list!I am from New Jersey and got married in Buffalo on December 11th. A friend who owns a hair salon in NJ recommended Salty dog. I had my hair cut by Gamy. Honestly, a little nerve-wracking getting my hair cut by somebody new in a new city on perhaps the most important day for my hair in my life, but it was an excellent, sharp cut. Couldnt be happier. Super cool shop too! Had a budweiser while I waited.

I’m a picky guy when it comes to barbers - i chose Tim based on good reviews and they were right. Great fade and great guy. Had a mop top get turned into taper fade in 30 min. Go see him if you don’t have a barber.

Salty Dog Barbershop is amazing. I have been going regularly for about two years now and wouldn’t think of going anywhere else in town. Ryan Sparkman cuts my hair and he is a total professional, but all the barbers are great folks who clearly care very much about their craft. The shop is also a really welcoming place for EVERYONE. This is not a stuffy old shop, nor is it some too-cool-for-school trendy joint you’d hesitate to walk into. They cut every type of hair and have a really diverse clientele (ages, races, different walks of life, etc.). It’s a very nice place to be.

Ive been a regular at The Salty Dog Barbershop for about two years now, and I have to say, every visit has been nothing short of amazing. Gamy Linares is my go-to barber, and hes a true master of his craft. Not only are his haircuts worth their salt, but hes also a great conversationalist. Back in March of 2023, I was laid off from my previous job, and visited the shop for a pre-interview trim. I really wanted this job, stressed the importance of a good, professional haircut. Upon hearing this, Gamy smiled. He assured me that this particular haircut would be so great that itd guarantee me the job. I like to think sometimes that the demos I made tirelessly and interviews I partook in helped out, but Gamys craft is definitely, 100% what sealed the deal. This man got me that job. I owe a lot to Gamy for his excellent work.The shop itself is always clean and tidy, also boasting a professional, yet fun atmosphere. There are comfy chairs, magazines, a pool table, conversation, and more to occupy your mind before its your turn on the cutting block. What an amazing experience!! I am a proud mommy of 3 little boys. My 5-year-old is autistic thats nonverbal and hates haircuts. I was so impressed with our Barber Gamy who was super friendly, and well informed on autistic children and theyre sensory issues. He was efficient, and skilled in giving my little boy the most handsome haircut. He truly went above and beyond to make sure that my child was calm, he even paused several times to allow my child to calm down. Truly a compassionate and professional person. And lets not forget about the barbershop itself so clean, comfortable, well put together and state of the art. Highly recommend this location and our new Barber for life Gamy.

Today I had my first experience with going to a barber specifically for my beard. I called the day before and spoke to Rick, who suggested I book with Ryan. Ryan did fantastic job! I highly recommend booking with him especially if you have a very long beard (mine is around a foot long).He understood what I wanted to look like, he laid out his plan, asked me my thoughts and because I was new, he told me a little bit about what other people like in a beard grooming. The casual conversation was great, he was a good hearted, kind and honest person.Everyone I interacted with was respectful and professional. It was a relaxed atmosphere that Ill definitely be going back to. My beard has never looked better.

First I want to mention that this was an amazing barbershop to go to!!! the barbers very friendly, they were good at giving directions to this place as well. So my son seen the apprentice ALBA. he sat there very nicely as she gave him a great cut and lineup.For an apprentice she seems to know quite a bit. would highly recommend coming to see ALBA and getting a nice fresh fade or whatever you prefer with the guidance of gamy. thank you salty dogs I am not salty lol 😁I’m very satisfied with our visit 🙌🏽and will be coming back to see ALBA !!!!

Ive been going here since February. Ryan is legit. Solid dude with great vibes. Does a great job with my hair. The shop has great vibes you feel when you walk in. Never had rick for a hair cut, but hes always greets me with a welcome back and all of us always have great conversations..... great place.

I had a haircut in June by Gamy and he did an amazing job. My Barber was out of town so I went back and ALBA cut my hair and I can safely say based on the haircut she gave me that she knows nothing about how to cut hair. I was nervous because she was an apprentice. But assured me she knew what she was doing. I explain to her I had a wedding this weekend and have been growing my hair out for six months. What a mistake, She absolutely butchered the hair I grew in!!I highly recommend Gamy, but stay away from her

I went to The Salty Dog not knowing what to expect, and left knowing that if I moved to buffalo it would be my long term barber shop. Gamy was great with listening to what I wanted and giving me recommendations, as well as explaining what he was doing throughout the hair cut. They were met and then much more!The shop is very cool, very clean, A++ for atmosphere. Rick, the owner and Edwin another barber, were super welcoming and friendly. If felt very comfortable from the minute I walked in the door. So, the barbers for personality A+++. Now the cut.... it was perfect! Not rushed, really asked questions at the start to understand the cut and style I wanted. Quality of work, A++++.Oh I even stayed and had a facial (amazing) and then bought a few of there products for home.Go there, you won’t be disappointed!

The cost of the service was very affordable.Gami was the barber ; and very skilled at reading my hair-type and offered some suggestions. I can easily say this was the best looking haircut I have ever received. This is a great place They did it all right. I was in town on business and a wedding staying a few blocks away. I decided to try and get a cut in, I was able to get a appointment for 5 pm an hour before the rehearsal dinner I showed up a little early Rick was able to get me right in. Excellent conversation really good cut I asked if he could do a shave also and he was able to. Really nice job, fantastic experience if I lived in Buffalo I’d be a regular customer. I would definitely recommend this barbershop. Great vibe and great barbers. I had an appointment with Gamy and explained to him how my wife likes my hair long but I like it short. He suggested I do a low skin fade: down to the wood around the ears and back, short transition fade to long on the sides and top. It was the perfect cut. Well she loved it and, BOOM just like that, my marriage was saved! Thanks Gamy!!!

Been going to Rick for over 2 years now and I have yet to have a bad haircut. Great price and he takes his time cutting your hair. Very professional but still a great guy to talk with. Would recommend to anyone who wants a good barber in Buffalo. His cuts are incredibly consistent which is a huge part of being a good barber. Would never go anywhere else.

Moved from California to New York last week. I was super anxious and nervous about finding a new barber and getting a haircut. I found the Salty Dog online and saw the amazing reviews. I am glad I gave them a chance. I booked with Gamy and he did an amazing job on my haircut and beard trim. I have an annoying cowlick that no other barber has been able to fix, after the cut you can’t even tell thanks to Gamy. He was receptive and open/communicative about everything he was doing as he cut my hair too which was great. They have an option to set up recurring appointments which is another great option for people who like have their cuts set each week/two weeks, etc.

Enjoyed my experience at the Salty Dog. Colby did a fantastic job with my haircut and beard trim. He was super friendly, grabbed my coat for me when I walked in the door. Chairs were super comfortable, the place was had a really cool vibe. Was also able to book my appointment online which was very convenient as I didnt have to worry about waiting when I got there, but even if I did have a little bit of a wait they have a pool table and some good tunes to keep you entertained.Definitely look forward to returning in the future!

Being from the NYC area and had just recently moved, I was searching for a new barber. I’ve used the same barber for many many years back home and hesitant to try a new barber. Here’s the honest scoop on this barbershop. It is comprised of two barbers; Rick and Gamy. Point blank period, these dudes can both cut. When I say cut, I mean they are top-level elite with a pair of scissors in their hands. I have personally been cut by both and it’s crazy because each had their own style, but also maintained an incredible level of quality in each cut. To top it off, they are two of the coolest, most relaxed guys I know. The barbershop is immaculate when it comes to cleanliness. You can sit and play pool while you sip a complimentary beer with the boys. This shop is a special gem in the heart of downtown Buffalo, NY. I visited today at lunch for my first time. The location is great for a barber shop at its in walking distance of work. The shop has very high ceiling and the decor is well done. I just wanted a hair cut but they have other services too. Best thing was being able to book an appointment online and getting an immediate confirmation, much better than just showing up and hoping they arent busy.

Ive known Rick for years. When I moved back to Rochester from Florida - I was in the market for a barber. I met a barber who would move on to open a top barbershop in the Rochester Area; he remained my barber until retiring his chair but his schedule was booked a month in advance and I needed a cut quick. This is where I met Rick. Ive always been his customer ever since and more importantly, hes been a good friend of mine. I still live in Rochester and drive to Buffalo every month to get my hair cut just by him. Hes that good.

Just finished getting my hair cut by Colby and I have to say, as a former Regis hair model who spent a lot of early mornings at the company salon, this was still a better/preferable, more interactive, more professional, and more accurate cut and style. And I got an amazing buzz, fade, and razor style that I loved, which was a first and a leap for me, and a far cry from the platinum blonde long locks that I used to model 😂 Colby took his time, explained everything, made the experience an extremely fun one, and after this review I’m omw to the website to schedule my touch up in 5-7 days (appointments can be booked on their website by the most computer illiterate as itnliterslly takes less than a handful of clicks and you’ll get a reminder text). Real barbers that care in an awesome space. They put the Argan oil on the skin, and you can get the hose again if you need a wash and a little head massage 😂And there’s a pool table for all y’all testosterony men out thurr. xD
