I’ve been tattooed at this shop by Madeline Brown several times and I have nothing negative to say about her! If you’re looking for an artist that will listen to your ideas and turn them into beautiful artwork you should definitely check out Madeline!! She is so creative and will definitely create a tattoo that is unique for you and that you will love forever. Most recently I had an upper back piece done by her around an existing tattoo (not done by her) and it was an amazing experience! We had a consult appointment where she asked for my ideas and how I expected the tattoo to look and she was very attentive to what I was looking for. At my first appointment she took her time placing the stencil and making sure it was perfect, even hand drawing some of the details to make sure they lined up. You will definitely not regret making an appointment with her! I will attach pictures of some of the work she has done on me. Madeline is definitely one of the best tattoo artists in Buffalo!!

I had Carley for 2 small fine line tattoos on my arms. She did a great job!! Was very nice, professional, and personable. She listens to your ideas and stays true to them in her drawing, and she also gave good suggestions to help finalize the design. Is patient when perfecting the design placement on skin. My boyfriend also got a great line tattoo by Dylan and had only good things to say. They respond to texts and inquiries quickly. Pretty and clean shop, friendly and professional staff :)

Dylan was awesome and True Gloom surpassed all my expectations. Have been getting tattoos for over 20 years and I expect a lot from a shop & artist.The service is phenomenal, very clean shop that clearly cares a great deal about sanitation, and Dylan just did an excellent job. I had a custom piece that was spot on in its design. This was high quality work that will have me coming back for many more pieces.

Carley had absolutely phenomenal line work and design aswell and treats her clients as if she was tattooing herself or loved one I cannot say enough about how comfortable she made me feel and welcomed as well. Madeline Brown kills it every time! She’s done multiple pieces for me and her appreciation and understanding of art as a whole fully translates to the quality of tattoos she puts out. Graham was so great to work with! I picked one of his flash sale designs and it’s an absolute beauty. Graham is such a talented artist. Will definitely be working with him again for other designs! I recently had my first experience at True Gloom and LOVED it. My artist was Madeline Brown and she is so kind and talented. She took my vague idea and made it into a beautiful flowing piece of art. I had an incredible experience working with Madeline Brown! She was so accommodating and designed a beautiful tattoo based solely off of a description of what I wanted. She gave me a design a few days before my appointment, and was happy to make adjustments so that it was exactly what I wanted. A few days after the tattoo was done, I reached out to her because I wanted to add something onto the end of the design to make it feel more complete. She was happy to do this and now I have a tattoo that I absolutely love. I would and have recommended her to anyone who is interested in getting a tattoo. She is an incredible artist and I’m so glad my friend recommended her to me!

Showed up for an impromptu scheduled tattoo for a fruit! Was originally thinking strawberry but Graham showed me the CUTEST watermelon slice he drew! Ive gotten tattooed here twice by Madeline Brown, and it was a great experience. I love both pieces and they healed up fast with no problems. I love the shop too--great vibes, great decor, very clean. All of the artists have cool flash designs.

I got 3 tattoos at once by Carley. She gave a great experience. Super sweet, welcoming, and easy going. She didn’t make me feel bad when I asked to make some changes to the design, and for every tattoo she made the experience comfortable. As for the shop itself, there are plenty of fun and exotic things to look at, I personally love the vibe and would recommend this shop and this artist.

Ive gotten two tattoos from Carley and I am so happy with them. She has amazing flash and I will for sure be back to get more. A huge bonus for me is how calm and gentle she is. Highly recommend!

I had the pleasure of having Carley tattoo me and it was one of the best most comfortable experiences I’ve ever had during a tattoo session. She made me feel so welcomed and did an incredible job on my sternum piece and my leg piece. Will definitely be back 10/10 recommend her.

Maddie is amazing. She’s talented at what she does (opening up her Instagram stories to check out her recent work is honestly one of my favorite parts of the week), she’s charismatic and easy to talk to, and she has an attention to detail that I genuinely admire and feel pays off in a big way. I have several tattoos by her, including some of her flash, and I am constantly showing them off ‘cause I am just so impressed by everything she does! If I could give her six or ten or a hundred stars, I would. I know it seems like I’m laying it on thick, but I highly recommend her to anyone in WNY looking for some beautifully done ink.

I’m new to the area and I saw a couple postings on instagram, so I reached out to Graham and Carley and both of them along with everyone else in the shop were incredible. They’re all so kind and welcoming and other than doing sick work, create a really nice atmosphere to get work done in.

I had a tattoo from Carley (@funeralfauna.tattoos) almost a week ago today. She was extremely helpful, easy to work with and takes pride in her work. I would highly recommend her and this shop to anyone looking to get a tattoo. I can honestly say I love my tattoo. It is staying just as pigmented as it heals, which is a good sign.

Had a tattoo done by Carley who is both super talented and such a warm approachable person who addressed any/all concerns professionally. The shop is a very welcoming environment. I have nothing but positives to say about this shop! I went here for my second tattoo and first got in touch with Maddy via Instagram - she was responsive, friendly and prompt with scheduling. The deposit went to the total tattoo cost, which was nice ($50).I gave her my idea and a couple images, and what she came up with is fantastic! She spent time listening to me and has great artistic vision. She also suggested a different placement - originally I planned for upper arm, but we went with thigh. Her expertise was for the best; I couldnt be happier with how it turned out. She showed me how to apply the dynarex bandage at the end should I need to.The working area was very clean, sterile tools, clean sheets on the table. They really wanted to make sure I was comfortable. Staff were friendly, shop has a quaint and relaxed atmosphere. Cool decor.They provide a small goodie bag (very cool looking) at the end with a sample of Griffin salve as well as a few other things like stickers. I decided to purchase both the Griffin salve and tattoo wash. They were fairly priced and I look forward to using them. 100% organic ingredients too. The tattoo itself was also surprisingly reasonably priced for the size and quality. Certainly keeping this shop in mind for the future.Highly recommend.

Got tattooed back in October as part of a Halloween flash sale. It was with Jay, he was absolutely awesome, professional, and did some amazing work. The aftercare salve they stock and recommend was the smoothest healing process Ive had so far. Im hoping to return for another piece in the future.Edit: Went back for a second piece in the summer. Dylan was awesome! This was my first tattoo, and although it’s not big I was still nervous. He was incredibly kind and down to earth, making me feel very comfortable. Atmosphere is awesome there’s good music and all the artists are amazing I got mine done by jay, started my first tattoo and eventually will be a full sleeve jay was awesome hes a very skilled artist and seems to specialize in horror and realism will definitely come back and finish the sleeve and get more tattoos in the future

Britney Bay did my very first tattoo yesterday and they were absolutely amazing. The shop is very clean and welcoming, and B talked me through everything so thoroughly. Before they touched my skin or applied anything, they explained exactly what it was, what the purpose of it was, and what the ingredients were. They were so flexible and understanding during the placement process to get the stencil just right. They chatted with me during the actual tattooing which was a very appreciated distraction. Afterwards, B spent time walking me through all of the aftercare and was so patient with my questions. The tattoo turned out amazing, there are no blowouts at all and the lines are so crisp and straight. Thank you so so much B, I am definitely coming back for my future tattoos!

Best shop in Buffalo! Jay (@morbidjaytattoos) has done three pieces on me now and I will keep going back until I run out of room. I’ve also got a cool tattoo from Jess (@jessfoxtattoos) and plan on booking with Madeline (@shiver_beams) once my other projects are done. The work is exceptional and it’s just a nice environment where everyone feels welcomed and safe. It’s really important to have tattoo artists you trust and who are willing to listen to you and work *with* you on the design and placement. Everyone at True Gloom is awesome.

Jess was professional and friendly from start to finish. First timer. She made scheduling a breeze and we had open communication all the way to my appointment, where she answered my many questions and addressed my concerns. Finished product looked phenomenal. She made my first experience a relaxing and comfortable one. She was able to take my idea and fully execute it so it worked well and looked awesome. She was well versed in the process and all after care procedures. She was also able to recommend the appropriate products for me to use to care for my tattoo. This shop is absolutely unique and beautiful. I love the decor and the staff are so very nice and friendly. You feel so safe when you go here and they’re very clean and professional. The artwork from the artists there are all truly amazing! I specifically go to Josh Newman though for my tattoo styles. He kills every design I bring to him. He brings all my ideas to life. His line work is amazing. I get so many compliments on my dragon tattoo which is just made up of just lines. He’s extremely talented and just so down to Earth. I have many tattoos and I’ve gone to many artists and he is by far in my top 5. In fact I make an appointment almost every month with him! If you looking for black/grey or line work he is definitely your guy!

I have been tattooed by Jess and a guest artist that came to True Gloom. It’s a spectacular studio and super welcoming. Jess is extremely thoughtful and bedside manner here is wonderful. I have never felt uncomfortable here despite getting some ✨spicy✨ tattoos. I’ve never been in without someone offering me a drink and complementing me or hyping me up and it’s altogether a great atmosphere of wonderful artists who all do fantastic work.

I always knew I wanted a tattoo for my kids, and when I found my inspiration, Jay took my vision and tattooed the perfect moons. He spent the time to make sure each moon looked specific to its satellite photo and shared information about shading that made me feel more comfortable during the process. Jay did my first tattoo back in August and my second about a week ago. Of course i was a bit nervous but he walked me through the process and made me feel comfortable, i knew exactly what i was supposed to do during the healing process. I’m not the biggest conversationalist when it comes to getting services done but he kept it minimal and lighthearted which is perfect for me! My rope tattoo was a piece of flash that Jess had designed, and my heart tattoo was a concept that Jess created from a reference that I brought in that she redisigned and made a unique piece. True Gloom is seriously one of the best tattoo shops in Buffalo. I got tattooed by Jess in February 2022 and it was the best tattoo experience I have ever had. She was professional, compassionate, and not to mention the incredible work she did for me. Right before my appointment I ended up getting exposed to COVID and had to reschedule. She was more than understanding and rescheduled me without issue. Both Jess and the shop were extremely friendly and made me feel comfortable. I cant wait to get back!

My best friend and I got matching tattoos from Bay, and it was a really fantastic experience! They slotted us in pretty last minute, and even got to the shop early for us. Their design was so cute, and they’ve got the lightest hand i’ve ever experienced with a tattoo. It was over so quickly and the final product is perfection. Not the mention the vibe of the shop was so cool, and Bay herself is so much fun to be around! Highly recommend getting a tattoo here.

Jess is my tattoo artist here and she’s honestly great! I started a sleeve project about two years ago and unfortunately the work was not up to par, needing a lot of fixing. Not happy and unsure of who to use, I stopped working on it but recently decided to give it another go. I searched for over six months to find an artist that was willing to add to and touch up what was already done. So, I reached out to Jess, sent a bunch of pictures, and explained what I needed. Jess was the ONLY artist willing to do what it would take to fix this. I ended up booking her for a half day slot and last week she KILLED IT! Though I still need another small session what she’s done so far has gotten me more compliments in 5 days than the entire sleeve got me in two years. I’m so happy and can’t wait for her to finish this in a few weeks! For black work, she’s gotta be the best in town

I was recently tattooed by Jessica Fox the owner of true gloom tattoos. Let me just start with the stunning aesthetic & comforting vibes. I’ve never seen an establishment so creative & just fresh, come to find out this is a new location & they are still making improvements, I couldn’t believe it!😍Such a welcoming environment, all of the artists present were so kind & inviting. As well as professional & precise, making sure everything was absolutely perfect before starting. This is one of the cleanest businesses I’ve entered, she also sanitized her station in front of me as well, so I knew it was clean.Jessica herself of VERY thorough, even asking me if my positioning was comfortable, and constantly checking in on me to ensure I was doing well. I can’t wait for her to finish my sleeve we started! I feel so comfortable with her I told her she could add anything she felt would fit. I will most definitely be starting some new project with Jess really soon!

The aesthetic of the shop as a whole was impressive. Upon entering, the vibe is so welcoming, clean, and open. The artists that were working in the shop were all friendly, respectful, and inviting upon arrival!I was immediately greeted by the owner, Jess Fox, whom I have now had the pleasure of being tattooed by multiple times! She finished a realistic skull piece on my arm and is currently working on creating a unique piece on my thigh.She was so patient and willing to alter the stencil as needed until the designs were exactly how I wanted, as well as placed on my body. She took the time to sanitize her station in front of me (which I greatly appreciate) so I knew everything was clean and new. Throughout the tattoo process, I couldnt have asked for a better artist. She was so attentive and was checking on me throughout to make sure I was comfortable, tolerating the pain, offered water, and if I needed any breaks to eat or use the restroom. I have never felt more comfortable being tattooed by an artist!As far as the artwork, I think the tattoos I have recieved speak for themselves. She is so talented and the work she creates truly leaves me speechless. It has been so easy contacting her and making my appointments. Amazing experience!! Jessica, the owner, did my first tattoos (across my knees) and Im in love with the tattoos & the experience I had. She’s trustworthy, clean, and kind. She did some amazing work! The lines were perfect and they made sure to give me breaks when needed. I was very comfortable and it was over in about an hour, which was pretty great considering how well done it was. Im definetly coming back in the future!!! The building is very well decorated, and after care was very well explained. They also have merch available so you can rep your new favorite tattoo shop ♡

Bay is a fabulous tattoo artist. So kind and accommodating. I would definitely get another tattoo from Bay in the future. My tattoo looks awesome and I felt very comfortable the entire session. True Gloom is an intriguing and welcoming environment so that was much appreciated too!

I scheduled my first ever tattoo with Jessica and she was more than willing to provide exactly what I had envisioned. I made her work for my design, changing it about 6 times before finally deciding! She was very supportive of whatever the tattooed needed and allowed me to take as much time as I required. Will have to come back to get it colored!

I recently got an Akira flash tattoo from Jay and it was an excellent experience. I walked away extremely happy with the piece I have now and frequently get complements on it. Jay puts care and time into his art and it shows. It’s hard to find a good manga artist like him in the Buffalo area.

Since the start of this year I’ve gone to a bunch of shops working on my patchwork sleeve, I can confidently say one of the best shops I’ve been to inside and out of buffalo is True Gloom! The energy and atmosphere the owner and the staff try to create is unmatched!! The attentiveness and willingness to try to bring my ideas to life! I’ve been tattooed by three of the artists there (Jess, bay, mark). I’ve done walk in flash and made appointments, either way you’re in good hands! Communication is key! 🤙

Jess is such a professional and amazing artist. I have gotten two tattoos done by her, both amazing work!! Her shop is so cute and inviting. Definitely highly recommend Jess for any of your tattoo needs!!

Maddie did an INCREDIBLE job on my hand. She was so light handed, easy going and down to earth. Her work speaks for itself. 10/10 would recommend going to her or anyone in the shop for that matter. Absolutely phenomenal.

Jessica Fox tattooed wedding rings for my husband and I. She was so quick to respond via Instagram and helped me set up an appointment. She was so professional, courteous and helpful throughout the entire process. She offered free touch ups for life since they are on our ring fingers. But neither of our tattoos have faded or changed in 3 years. I can’t wait to get another from her in the future!

I actually did not receive any services there. I’m in the area for work as a travel nurse. I wanted to get a tatoo to cover a scar. I gave them 2 stars because the shop is super cute! Very nice! Aesthetically a great environment however I felt like I was the wrong color. I hate to pull the color card but I was not able to get anyone to give me an appointment nor was there much interest from the artist that were there to proactively set an appointment for me. I guess it’s not unusual in Buffalo from what I’ve heard.

Jay is amazing! He’s done now 3 tattoos of mine which have all turned out beautifully and are now some of my favorites i’ve gotten. I love his work and his creativity. A very cool and spooky shop to check out!

Jess is amazing! Got my stomach tattooed in record time, made me feel super comfortable (which can be a difficult thing in an intimidating tattoo shop) and genuinely enjoyed the experience. I’ll follow jess anywhere!

I recommend this place every single time someone compliments my tattoos or asks for a good shop. For their Valentine’s Day flash event, they took a look at how busy and in demand their work was and decided to say “screw it” to the end time they had set and continued to tattoo through the night. Their professionalism and dedication to their work and their clients makes this the safe place you’d want in a tattoo shop.

Ive been tattooed by both Jess and Bay at True Gloom and have had a wonderful experience every time! Its a friendly, open, and clean environment. I have never once felt uncomfortable, my favorite place to go!

We are all human, just like you guys have a job so do I. Tell your employe If he has to cancel sure things happen but don’t tell his client he can get him them in one month to accommodate the cancellation on his behalf then make it a whole month past when he said. That’s bad management on his part and when I felt with him HE told me to message him on insta nothing about calling the shop, I made it directly with the artist. Same Reason he gave me his card.

I havent gotten a tattoo yet but I stopped in here today and the entire staff was so pleasant and wonderful. The manager was very nice and offered me and my sister a water. Clean and comfortable environment. Definitely going to go to them in the future

I recently got a tattoo from Bay and loved it! Bay was so kind, and made me feel so comfortable! I love how my tattoo came out, and will definitely be booking with them again in the future (: (revised for correct name!)

Took me in as a walk in, talked with me about the themes I already had, and how her piece would fit in, then did an amazing job, as I assumed they would when I arrive! The employees, boss, and artist were very accommodating, and gave great conversations during the whole thing.
