Dollface (Ali) did a great job on this Mandala shoulder tattoo. I stopped in the shop, made an appointment, and send her some inspo pics. She drew up an awesome piece. The shop is clean, everyone was very nice and professional. Will definitely be back!

Amber is an absolute gem!I made my appointment and came in at noon on a Wednesday afternoon, chatted with Amber about my ideas. She listened to my concerns and likes and absolutely nailed the design.Once we got the placement right it took her no time to get rocking. She is clean and efficient and has great ‘bedside manners’. We chatted and she buzzed along.Oh yeah… and it was a cover up. I hated that tattoo, and I wore it around Forever. Ive gotten three tattoos at Leftys, and of the eight I have total, my experience at Leftys far surpasses anywhere else Ive been. Customer service, cleanliness, quality of work and environment were all first class. The people and product are well worth your time. This is my second tattoo I got at Leftys, by artist Ronnie! I love going there for my tattoos! I wish I could get more! Theyre professional yet personable! And very talented! Honestly I will be moving an hour and a half away from them, but for my next tattoo Ill likely make that drive to have them do it!

I was looking for an artist able to make a realistic tattoo of my cat from a photo. After looking at pictures of some of Ronnies tattoos online, I decided to try, and that was the best decision ever. He was very honest about everything, letting me know how big it should have been to look realistic etc., and luckily I followed his expert advice. Everybody says it is amazing, so incredibly realistic, especially when I show the photo it was taken from - they actually say it looks like a photo. This tattoo is deeply meaningful for me, and I am so happy I found Ronnie and Leftys Tattoo.

Ive always received exceptional customer service at Leftys. Im always greeted promptly when walking in and never left waiting long to go over a brief consultation. The atmosphere of the shop is friendly, laid-back, and not to mention the best decorated youll ever see. Ive gone to Andrew for about 11-12 hours of work including a half sleeve of custom, original artwork. Hes very receptive to my input, and customer satisfaction of the work is clearly a high priority for him. Andrew far exceeds my (high) expectations with every visit. Ive since moved out of the CR area but I dont hesitate to make the two hour drive to come here for my inking needs. If you like the work you see, I can easily recommend any of the artists here.

Even their apprentices are dope. Got my first tattoo done there, was really nervous about it but Tatum told me to just breathe it out and was halfway done by the time I got my stuff together! I took my sister here to get her nose pierced, and got a double nose piercing and double conch piercing myself. It was an excellent experience! There was no one else getting pierced when we arrived, so they got us in right away. Cleaner and more professional than Wildside; WAY more reasonably priced and and nicer staff than Neon Dragon. The piercer, I believe her name is Keri, is fantastic. She is so nice, personable and professional, and really instills confidence that she is skilled and experienced. I would definitely recommend getting pierced at Leftys!

Was super apprehensive about getting a cover-up tattoo, visited other local tattoo shops and was not treated well, thought it would be impossible to ever fix a 26 year old mistake....decided to go online and see if anyone else had great work and found Leftys (they are super talented). I met with Ronnie who was so incredibly nice, accommodating, reassuring, and kind. He worked up an amazing cover-up, the procedure was relaxing and comfortable within a clean, interesting, and above all...welcoming atmosphere. His artwork is impeccable and now I have something I am proud to show off. I highly recommend this business for your first tattoo...to your last.

I have known of Lefty for many years. He did my first tattoo and someone else who worked for him has done my foot tattoo. What I love best about this place, is the family atmosphere. They treat you more than a customer. I have also not ever met a person that is always looking for room for improvement. Lefty is versatile in his work and is always working hard to become even better. I have smaller tattoos but I have had no issues with them fading or in their appearance with how they look over time. Its been since I was 18 and now Im 29. Another thing I love is his willingness to rectify an unhappy customer rather than running away from it. Looking for honest recommendations and feedback with great work, I would suggest Leftys.

Love, love, love. I went here on a recommendation from a friend. I stopped in for a consultation. Met with Lefty, he was friendly and professional. I showed him pics of ideas I had. Lefty took my ideas and made a personalized piece of art for me. Before I left I had asked about another tattoo idea and Lefty was upfront and honest that it wasnt his best area of art and recommended another artist who would do it better. I was very impressed, that he would put the quality of my tattoo above making money. The store was clean, well organized and friendly. I cant wait for my next piece of art from Lefty.

Dude, I absolutely love everyone and everything about this place. When Lindsey was there (who I’ll still go to no matter what) she did all of my tattoos and seriously just vibes with her customers so well. My boyfriend and I always go to her... We found her through Lefty’s shop after hearing nothing but good feedback. For the shop as a whole, Lefty does INSANE work and so do all of the other artists. Seriously such a clean, comfortable, professional, and fun environment. If I ever get the chance to apprentice somewhere, I hope it can be at a place like this.

This is by far the best tattoo shop! I have always had wonderful experiences here. Anytime I have walked in for any reason I am always acknowledged immediately and always with a smile from every employee there. If they cant do their best quality of work, they tell you straight out. I went to Lefty to do my half sleeve. His work is amazing. Took the time to listen to what I wanted ,and was able to put it all together. Worked fast ,and had my tattoo in good time. All of the employees there are very welcoming and his tattoo artist do great work! Highly suggest this place!

Leftys Tattoo is very professional and made me feel completely comfortable! I just recently got my first tattoo done by lefty himself! I had gone to many other shops around town and no one seemed excited or interested in my tattoo, it made me very nervous, nervous enough to back out. I stumbled upon Lefty from a friend who got a tattoo done by him, I stopped in and he was extremely nice and made me feel so comfortable about getting it done. I scheduled an appointment and I am beyond happy with the results! I LOVE MY TATTOO, I am going back here next month to get it finished and I am so thankful that I found Lefty and his shop! Update: Lefty reached out to me and went above and beyond to make sure I could still get my tattoo. He did a great job on it and was super helpful.————————————————————————Last week, I messaged the current apprentice about getting a small piece of my dads handwriting done since he recently passed away. She responded saying she would love to and told me her availability for this week. I asked if we could do Wednesday at 3 (today) and she proceeded to not open my messages the rest of the week and completely ghosted me. She continued being active on instagram, posting that she had free time on Wednesday, and I messaged her again saying I was still interested in coming in to get my tattoo done. She continued to ignore my messages, opened my message around 2 today, and never responded.

I absolutely love this place. While I have yet to get a tattoo here, Ive been pierced twice and each time was better then expected. They take the time to listen to you when youre a big baby like myself and really go into the care of your piercing. Their prices arent cheap by any means but you pay for the quality and I have yet to have any issues. Their jewelry is awesome too, not some cheap crap that turns your skin green. Their shop is clean and professional, you walk into a warm environment with professional artists who clearly love the job they do and are extremely talented. Anytime someone asks me where to go for a piercing or tattoo in Cedar Rapids Leftys is always at the top of my list (:

A shop is really only as good as its artists. And while the artist needs to be proficient in their art, a big part of what they do is how they treat their customers. Lefty and his team are solid on all fronts. Ive been getting tattood by Lefty himself for over a decade and have never left the shop(s) unhappy. Hes a happy-go-lucky guy that makes you feel at home and welcome even if the shop is swamped. One of my favorite things about him is that he values your experience, and the art more than he does profit. He constantly recommends newbies to visit various shops and find an artist with a style that fits their needs/wants. He doesnt belittle other artists to try and steal customers. Hes truly passionate about tattoos as a whole, which is awesome. Every artist at this shop is constantly doing what they can to improve their craft, traveling all over the country and working with other top-tier artists. They dont let ego get in the way of becoming better than they are, thats difficult in most fields let alone art. If youre thinking about getting a tattoo, whether its your 1st or 40th, you owe it to yourself to at least speak to this man. Ive never been disappointed.

It didnt take me 9 tattoo sessions and 4 piercings to know that this is hands down the best shop in town- I knew it after the first. Clean, professional, friendly and just outstanding people. On top of all that I get stopped daily commenting on the quality of my artwork-including once at a stop light where, like every other time, I happily passed over one of their cards just like every other time :-)

Clean, fast, and comfortable! I just got my first tattoo at Leftys and it was amazing. As it was my first i didnt get anything too elaborate but i will definitely be going back for some more creative work. Steve was super nice and worked with me when he had concerns my initial placement wouldnt heal well and was happy to move the stencil when i didnt quite like the placement. I never felt rushed or silly for getting something simple and ive already told some people about my experience (i left the shop maybe 30 minutes ago). Im excited to see how this tattoo heals and look forward to bringing more ideas there!

I have been to Leftys twice in the past month for different tatoos. I have never experienced a more laid back and personable tatoo shop as this one. Every time I walk in, its like Ive been a friend for years. Very clean, very reasonably priced, and my personal favorite, is the artists truly care about their art. They are very honest about your choice and will even add their ideas as a spin on it....LISTEN TO THEM! They are all great people, but I have to give a big shout to Ronnie, as he did a phenomenal job on both my tatoos I received. He is truly passionate about what he does, and a great guy in general. I live in Omaha, NE, but work here in Cedar Rapids each week.....no matter what, I will drive back here for my next one any day. Im not an individual who typically writes reviews, but I couldnt refrain as there isnt a group of guys of who deserve it more......keep doing what you do gentlemen!!

Troy did a truly amazing job on my tattoo for my father who passed away from cancer. The time he took to draw it from scratch, with only an idea of what I wanted, and the way it was perfectly drawn, was awe inspiring. I trust his talent and am thankful for his workmanship. His amazing team does a great job.

Surronding the store is a kind of sketchy area, but as soon as you enter the building I got a different vibe. They were really nice there and Lefty is AMAZING! I got my first tattoo there because I had heard good things about Lefty, and my parents had gotten their tattoos done by him. He gives you exactly what you ask for, and likes to add a little of his own flare to it too. My tattoo ended up being perfect, it wasnt raised up ande it wasnt faded. I would recommend seeing Lefty to get your tattoo done, he is super nice and makes you feel comfortable.

Not only is their shop immaculate- but they are literally the most wonderful people in the entire world. They would give the shirts off their backs for any random Joe. Good vibes all the way. They do a phenomenal job and the customer service is 10/10. No complaints. (:

I have never been tattooed by Lefty, but the next one I get, he will do, Ive seen his work. I am here to comment on the mans character. I met him via my in-laws a decade ago, and always enjoy time with his family camping when he can get away. My favorite story with Troy is the time my then 3 year old daughter crawled up in his lap and tried to peel/pick the stickers off his head. I think he laughed harder than we did. Troy and his family are some of the best people Ive ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Walked in on a Saturday and met with Lefty. My daughter and I had pictures of what we wanted and said he could tweak it. Got the call a few hours later and now I have my first tattoo on my leg. I will definitely be going back for my next one. Thank you for making it a great experience!!!!

We loved Lefty’s! My boyfriend had some self harm scars covered up by Ronnie, and his art is absolutely beautiful. Ronnie was relatable and professional, and my boyfriend finally has the confidence to wear tank tops without being ashamed of his scars. Ronnie was very understanding about the situation, and created a beautiful piece that he loves. I will definitely be going to Ronnie to get my scars covered.

Lefty himself did a piece on me and it has a lot of meaning behind it and I told him how much it meant to me and I want it to look good. One word to describe the art would be GENERIC. Pour quality pour humor terrible costumer service. I mean lefty you have a tattoo shop named after you and my tattoo is terrible. You should be ashamed and disappointed in you’re work.

My husband and I both got fix ups done by Lefty... he did NOT have to touch either of them and were both SO thankful he did... awesome prices, understood my pain level while I tried to level through, and was personalable.... we found our place :-)

My experience has always been amazing!!! Ronnies at Leftys did my cat tattoo on my thigh its almost been two years and Im still in love with it 😍 I plan on going there for my birthday and getting a tattoo and Im so excited!!!! 5 stars hands down they are the best!!!!

These guys may very well be great for tattoos, but not so much for piercings. I got my nostril pierced by them and they gave me a surgical steel (a metal heavily advised against) screw with a far too tiny gem—which sunk deep into my nose and was a great hassle to remove. The piercer has wonky hours that didnt real work for me, and the aftercare advice they gave was outdated and incorrect. Five days of pain and suffering later, I finally removed their screw from my nose and put in something better (titanium with a massive gem so it wont sink in), and my nose has been doing exceptional since. I am perfectly willing to attribute their lack of communication and whatnot to human error and to the fact that they were moving to a different site, but overall I disliked the area and the service I received.

Went by just to set up an appointment, worked out to be able to get in immediately, the shop was clean and every single employee that was in there interacted and had fun with us, thanks again Ali and Kiley, they stuck around after hours to finish! 100% recommend

Ronnie is the man to see other than the owner himself not that the others arent spectacular. Ronnie is super nice and helpful came in with an idea and he shaped it and gave me a better understanding of what I was thinking of. He right off the bat gave me EVERYONES card not just his and told me to check everyones work out instead of trying to sell me on working with him. Ronnie showed me his work on his Instagram where he posts a lot of his masterpieces and boy are they amazing the attention to detail is unreal. He said he thinks the small details is what makes the world go round and as far as tattoos goes I could agree more and thats why Ronnie is my new go to artist.If you are on the fence for local artists leftys is the place to go. The atmosphere there is great and the people, even better. They have earned my business from here on out.

I was skeptical of coming here at first, being that Im from out of town and have no friends or family in the area, I went in here blind. When I first walked in the door, I walked over to the fish tank, and noticed how dirty it was. That threw up a red flag for me. But I continued anyway. I was greeted by one of the artists shortly after. I cannot recall his name, but it was not lefty or Steve, and he was very polite, and pointed me over to the photo albums of everyones work. After shortly looking it over, I decided to book an appointment for the following day.Based on my first impression, I would rate 4 of 5 stars.Appointment day: I walk in 10 minutes early, to be greeted by my artist Steve, who had tried calling me to let me know I could come in later if needed (I had skipped out of class to meet my appointment). Great customer service. 5 of 5.As Im waiting for him to setup, I am watching closely to see what kind of prep and cleaning procedures they use, as i have gotten infections from previous artists (NOT AT LEFTYS); and had seen it very thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. 5 of 5 for cleanliness.During the tattooing, it took a little while to get the stencil correct on my hand. Nothing Steve couldve done to make any different. The lining was very sharp, and not anywhere near as painful as I was anticipating. Steve was very light on the lotion and (I cant think of the name of it, but the stuff you put on a towel to wipe the area clean with, which also adds a cooling sensation.) i wish he had added some but I continued anyway. After we got to shading, it started burning up a little bit, and he did start using the mystery cooling liquid.Tattoo quality 4.5 of 5. Reason being, one area was shaded backwards, from what I believe may have been caused from me bleeding a bit more than usual.Steve made me feel very comfortable, and as soon as everyone started talking made everything a lot friendlier and time started flying by. Before I knew it, I was all done and time to leave. I could hang out here all day with these guys. It was a pleasure coming here.Positves: great customer service, great artists, fun and friendly atmosphere, very welcoming, very very clean, and modern equipment, including a comfortable tattooing chair!Negatives: could use a little cooling gel, the fish tank may drive away customers who look for cleanliness, the front set of seating could be updated a bit.Summary: I could a great piece for a very fair price, I had fun, its clean, and I enjoyed everything about going there. I honestly love the tattoo Ray did on my left fore arm today in honor of my late grandpa. He made the dog tags look amazing. I wouldnt go anywhere else. I got to talk to Ray and have a personal conversation with him, and got to know him a little more. Would defiantly come back for my next tattoo

I had a tiny tiny four letter tattoo on the back of my neck.. I inboxed Troy on my fb because he was already on my friends list.. I messaged him showed him my itybity tattoo and told him that I would like a cross and had $100.. he said he was booked but one of his workers could help me.. ronnie.. so I get there and freehand draws my tattoo and finishes the tattoo. I was happy with my work and left.. later on my sister told me it was lopsided and enlarged on one side.. I didn’t pay attention until other ppl who asked to see the tattoo just went silent after wards.. then I’m like oh no something is wrong and I actually took a picture.. so I contacted Troy and he said come in..but later on commented on my fb page after I made a status saying I was unhappy with my tattoo he stated that the tattoo was only $100.. I told him he could have told me they didn’t do cheap tattoos.. I didnt have a ride but when I was able to get one I went 4days later due to the weekend .. they guy admitted it wasn’t his best work but when I came in he was very rude and immediately got defensive and just told me he could fix it.. but I felt like I shouldn’t have to get a cover up to cover a cover up I was given my money back

Got a great tattoo from a very talented young lady. Very nice people. Solid place and look forward to having my whole chain done there.

Have 2 tattoos. One from Lefty and one from Steve.They both made my experience relaxing and comfortable. LOVE LOVE BOTH MY TATTOOS.Am trying to decide what I want for my 3rd one.Great people,great shop and great experience!!

Almost got hit by a person driving one of his white business trucks with the license plate leftys2. Called with concern and the owner says verbatim that, He doesnt operate a driving school, they draw on people. He doesnt care how his employees drive his company vehicles. That their lack of professionalism behind the wheel, doesnt affect his business.Very poor thinking.Because of this mindset,I will never go here.

Lefty has done a phenomenal job on my elephant tattoo. This is something Ive been longing to do and I couldnt have imagined this being as beautiful as it is. I am so stoked to complete this because I just know how incredible it will be.
