Josh is amazing!! I wanted to get something special for my first tattoo to honor my late wife, who battled breast cancer for 19 years. He used pictures of one of her favorite flowers and created this. I am beyond happy. He created the perfect memorial tattoo for her. The colors and details are awesome. Thank you Josh!!!

Josh Fields did this amazing addition to my ribbon and rainbow wings tattoo that I had done a few years ago by a different artist. The clouds, mother and baby are beautiful and the way he made the original tattoo pop is just amazing! This tattoo is very special to me and means so much! Cover up tattoo of a name in black ink. Kayanna chose a koi fish with light colors. Two days later the entire name came back through after I paid $400.00. I was scheduled for a follow up and she text me 3 hours before saying she had burned her hands the night before so couldnt keep appointment. The bottom part had already as started fading on the line work. She was extremely heavy handed as the pain was terrible and I have a tattoo on my other foot that didnt hurt at all. Of course she refuses to give any kind of refund and she now wants to touch it up. If she thinks Im going to let her touch me again she is crazy. I have found an extremely reputable tattoo artist that is going to fix the damage which will cost me again. Kayanna has NO business tattooing anyone!

Just finished my first full day session with Josh yesterday. It was definitely worth the wait to get on his books. First impressions are: the shop is super clean. Everyone there is very friendly. Extremely professional atmosphere.I provided Josh a couple ideas of what I was looking for and gave him some creative freedoms and I am ecstatic about how it’s turning out. His input and expertise is helping take my idea to the next level. I’m excited for my next session to watch this art continue to grow!

Ava has been my artist over this summer (doing a big project) and shes been amazing. Shes very personable and kind, while Im there under her needle and when we email to get stuff set up and rolling. Shes incredibly fair about how she charges.The work she does is so good! I came in there with a piece a artist in des Moines sorta pressured me to do or Id lose a bunch of money and shes done a great job of getting it to be what I was originally hoping for. Its not been easy for her and shes done a great job.I highly recommend this studio. All the artists there seem to care about each other and their art. Ava has always cared about the quality of her work and its impact on me above her getting money out of me and I think theyre all like that.

Got a tattoo here during the pandemic, i dont think the artist works here anymore but it healed nicely and i get compliments on it all the time

First off, I need to say theyre booked out so far simply because everything done there is absolutely superb and worth it! The entire staff is welcoming and great to talk to and the artists are all fantastic at what they do! The last time my wife and I stopped in, we had Ella do our tattoos and they ended up simply perfect! So, naturally, we ended up scheduling again! The second time we went in we had Jacob do ours and he is also just an awesome artist! We had three small tattoos lined up and we got exactly what we wanted! (We cannot express how much we love them!) Overall, the experience and quality of everything there just makes it a 11/10 place to go and get a tattoo, or even to just get a consultation! They always listen to you and give expert advice to help you get the perfect tattoo done. My wife, friends, and myself simply love it!

I love Platinum Rose! Im leaving the state soon, so I wanted to make sure I got my tattoos done by Jacob before I left. He fit me in his schedule and made it work! He even came in when he didnt have to to make sure we finished. Jacob did a flower for me and a flower for my sister, as sister tattoos. His work was so good. The designs he came up with based on our photos and requests were gorgeous. He was super chill and friendly, had such good attention to detail, and we LOVE how they turned out. He really has an eye. And the price was very good. I was very Leary of getting a new artist after a horrid experience and tattoo at Cedar Rapids Ink Ava is awesome. Super clean environment. Sterilizing everything when I got there. Very very easy to talk to. Listened to exactly what I wanted and gave her artist input.She works fast but it comes out fantastic. Would recommend her to anyone.

I have only wonderful things to say about Platinum Rose. They made sure I had the best artist for the piece from the start. My artist Matt Lukesh has been awesome to work with. He is very creative and his line work is insane! He took my vision and brought it to life. I am one session into a half sleeve and it healed beautifully. So excited to get it finished today. I also love the Flora aftercare product. I have never had a tattoo heal so quickly!

Went to Platinum Rose because it was recommended by our niece for our first tattoos. Excited and a little apprehensive and thrilled with the outcome. Ella did a fantastic job! Had my first tattoo ever with Jacob and must say I was a little nervous to give it a try but right after he was done I was super happy and glad I had given him a chance. I had a flower done on my arm, well up till this day I look at it and totally love it. So I called him again and asked him to extend the tattoo with more flowers throughout the arm. I also got tons of compliments from friends and people at work. Many asked me for his info and were taking pictures of my tattoo to share with their spouse, or significant other. I totally recommend Jacob without a doubt. Don’t let his few years of experience fool ya. (Few years compared to the other guys in the place that is) Jacob is great at what he does and I’m very much looking forward to come back to him.

Love love love this shop! All the staff are personable and quite hilarious. Jacob Grant did my floral shoulder cap piece in 2018 and he did a remarkable job, almost a year later and it still looks fresh! Not only did he come up with exactly what I was thinking but he even came up with more ideas for the color scheme than I originally had in my head and it made it look that much better! We have worked exclusively with Ella so far (a talented, funny, and friendly artist!) but everyone weve encountered there has been helpful, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is calming in the studio, something havent experienced with other studios in the area. We love the personalities and the artistic skill of everyone here and will continue visiting.

Platinum Rose is by FAR the best studio in Iowa. Ive had work done by both Josh and Jacob, and they are so unbelievably fun and talented words cannot properly describe. They understand the importance of a good tattoo. Completely original ideas and work! Just stop looking for a different studio and go there. I would never go anywhere else. Matt & Josh are both truly amazing artists and are also great guys. The customer service, cleanliness, professionalism and atmosphere is top notch. Matt has done all of my recent work and was able to cover up a very large and old (awful) tattoo of mine. Essentially he saved my shoulder and I now enjoy looking at it again. hahaha! Ive been going to Ella for two years now. She has completed a total of 4 different tattoos on me, and each one is not only unique, but a great experience with a very grounded individual who took the ideas I gave her to heart. Ella herself is a very gifted artist, continuing her progress through her blackwork style tattooing that is not only clean, but of her own genuine design cues. She is personal with the people she dubs worthy, and will not skip a chance to give you the advice you need when you come into the studio with a less than respectable attitude towards her profession and artwork. She calls it like she sees it, and that is possibly the most valuable trait a person should have. Especially someone you are dedicating a part of your skin to. Ella also has the support of her fellow artists in the studio (Matt and Jacob) who also deserve recognition for their amazing artwork, and straight forward, no nonsense personalities. You will not meet a better group of artists in Iowa. I would know, being a native for 24 years. Im moving to Arizona at the end of this year, and will still be coming back to Iowa to get tattooed by Ella. Im not only a proud supporter of the studio, but also a proud friend. Cheers.

I just got a pet memorial tatoo done in remembrance of my 18 year old best friend. I had never had and never thought I would ever get one, but my husband knew how attached I was to our cat and thought it would be an excellent idea to keep his memory alive. The staff at Platinum Rose are more than just tattooers, theyre real artists. Its also a one of a kind experience in that everything they create is custom made. There is no generic, unoriginal tattoo flash crowding the walls, giving a level of comfort that no two clients will leave this tattoo studio with the exact same cookie-cutter tattoos. All four artists are very patient and understanding in listening to the clients ideas and the masterpieces they render based on a given idea is artwork and conceptualization at its finest. No matter where I may live in this country, I will always return to Platinum Rose in Cedar Rapids for all my tattoo and artwork needs. They truly are the cream of the crop.

The positive experiences that I have as a result of this studio and the talented staff are too plentiful to count. I had as a young man made some incredibly bad decisions regarding the art of tattoo.Josh Fields apprenticing under the late Hardcore Hank Bertka took on the sizable task of covering up these mistakes. Over the next 20 years I would continue going back to Josh and later resident artist Matthew Lukesh for all of my tattoo work.Both artists have spent hundreds of hours working on me including 160 hours on “The Origin Project” a sprawling half suit of cosmic beauty that spans from foot to shoulder. I trust no other artists but Josh and Matt and only would consider anyone else under their professional eye.The work that The Platinum Rose has done and continues to do is in my opinion the best tattoo artwork in this area and beyond. The first few tattoos I had done elsewhere were immediately regrettable and no where near the quality of those I had seen in magazines and tattoo publications.Every single tattoo I have had done at The Platinum Rose leaves me feeling extremely excited and satisfied. Great, clean tattoo shop in downtown CR. Much more relaxed environment than other shops in the area. No flame printed carpets or black spray painted ceiling tiles here. Decently priced for the quality of work done here. It’s a shop you can safely go in without an artist specifically in mind, even with the most basic of ideas, and you will still come out with a unique and well done tattoo.

Wow. I just had my first experience with Matt at Platinum Rose and I AM THRILLED! Matt put up with my particularity and way exceeded my expectations. Not only was the “bedside manner” comfortable and approachable, but the level of cleanliness and expertise was more than I could have asked for. I can’t wait for next time :D

We traveled from Des Moines iowa this weekend to Cedar Rapids because my husband wanted a realism portrait tatoo and we couldn’t find anyone we were satisfied with in Des Moines. I cannot praise Matt Lukesh enough for the OUTSTANDING job he did. This was a particularly hard tatoo as most portraits are large and the face of this one is the size of a quarter. It’s identical to the picture and so real. He made the time fly by as he is very funny and makes you feel right at home. He spent extra time on the drawing as we were very picky and didn’t make us feel like we were being a pain. I HIGHLY Reccomend him and his unbelievably talented artwork. Jacob was awful- I should have listened to my gut and saw the red flags for what they were.. and RAN! He didn’t care about what I asked for. He did not know what he was doing. He is unprofessional to say the least. We had an appointment , but they confused with others who just walked in two seconds before us and due to their error- they were overbooked and rushed. Jacob mentioned his desire to just get next door to the bar to get a beer, more than once. So we suffered. He made no attempt to fix his errors as I pointed them out during tattooing- he only made things worse. Before beginning I gave very specific details like “I hate red, only yellow or orange in the sun”, I want wispy palms, JUST LIKE THIS IMAGE.. no leaves or “real tree-like” tree leaves of any kind…. He gave feathers. He gave red. Then followed it with “there’s already red, I have to do more now”.He needed the image to be emailed so he could trace it from the printed photo / tablet system they use.. he couldn’t get it from the email; wouldn’t take the resent email. Clearly he is NOT an artist, as this is what he ended up with. This creature from a stranger things episode… not a dainty palm tree, as requested. NEVER TRUST JACOB. The company itself cared not when I expressed my sadness and issue with this tattoo. Or the fact that I would need to have it removed. They did not care. They do not care for the customers. Do not go here. If I could give a zero star I would do it ..but it forces me to choose minimum one , so that is only by default. I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy.The photos below are the side-by-side of the dainty palm tree I asked for (in black-and-white), and the God-awful feather monster he gave me. And a side-by-side of what I currently have , after my first two sessions of tattoo removal. Cannot wait for it to be over.. this nightmareOwner comment- you’re hilarious.You wanted me to come back after a couple of days to “look at it” you can’t help if you don’t see what it looks like… Let Jacob “fix it”.Thanks for confirming what I’ve said. My only “horrible decision” was putting trust in platinum rose and it’s artist.You’re the risk to the public. 100%I’m simply letting them know, as they should!I gave from January to September for a professional response.Yours was ignoring the issue. Appointment was supposed to be at 4 it is almost 2 hours later. Finished his last client asked me what I was getting when I had sent him the image last week when I set the appointment up. Im now waiting for him to draw the design out. If you book an appointment after someone who is going to take a while make sure you tell the person you will be a bi . Atleast its a clean shop.

I just finished a custom piece on my chest that took 2 sessions with Ella. After the first session I was pumped about the outlining, but then after the final session I was blow away by the amount of detail Ella was able to add in. I will be going back to Ella for my next piece for sure. Highly recommend.

I have been getting ink put into my skin since I was 17, however it was not until I came to the Platinum Rose, that I ever got a true tattoo. Matt, Josh, and Crew are the reason people of their profession are called Tattoo ARTISTS. They are the exception, not the rule.
