Kelsey was the best artist for my first tattoo experience. My arm band tattoo came out exactly how I envisioned it, and she provided a comfortable hospitality to our session.I researched women tattoo artists in the city with clean line work and artists excellent at tattooing on darker skin, and she was by far my favorite. I pitched the idea of a music note arm band and she took on the project with positivity. We chatted and tatt’d, it was a great time!Highly recommend you book your next session with Kelsey.

I got tattooed by Kelsey and she absolutely crushed it!! The vibes in the studio were immaculate and fun! All the artists in shop that day were friendly and had a great rapport with each other so there were lots of laughs! 10/10 would recommend! The shop is also in a great area with lots around to do before or after your appointment!

As a tattoo first-timer, I was very nervous about the experience but heard from a friend that Crystal is amazing. She was right - Im so happy with tattoo itself, and Crystal did such a great job making me feel comfortable both before, during, and after the process! (And no - it honestly doesnt hurt at all). I had the pleasure of working with Angel and from my consult to my last session it was a blast. A pros pro, I am super happy with my two pieces and highly recommend Black Atlas Studios. During my session I got to know the other artists and they all do top notch work including their piercer who stays busy with so many clients. The shop is also very chic. You can tell a lot of care and attention that went into the studio. 10/10

Molly was awesome!! She did matching small tattoos for my husband and myself. She took her time to make sure it was perfect, made sure we were comfortable and hydrated, and was super welcoming. The shop is super clean too. So so happy with how they turned out! We will be back again soon, great experience!

Black atlas tattoo shop will be the only place I visit from now on. My artist Kelsey is so amazing I had to follow her there. This shop itself is super clean and I love the plants and local art displayed! All of the artists there are insanely talented. Not only will you get the best work done but you’ll have a good time. All the staff are super friendly and encouraging to one another. I would highly recommend!!

My pet axolotl passed at the beginning of the year, and I wanted to memorialize her forever in a special way. Tito helped me do that and gave me a beautiful tattoo of her paw prints on my arm. He did an amazing job and I couldn’t thank him enough.

I’ve gotten tattooed here by almost all of the artists, and it is always such an awesome/welcoming experience. Recently got a beautiful calf piece done by Kelsey, and she made me feel comfortable from beginning to end. TJ is also a phenomenal artist there— he a wealth of knowledge & always strives to guide his clients throughout the whole process. Cannot recommend this shop enough!P.s. they have charcuterie for paying clients on Fridays :)

Shoutout to TJ who did a beautiful anime piece for me. He is really talented and a professional as well. He put a lot of detail into this piece and really elevated the design of it.The shop itself is clean and vibrant as well and they were also playing movies and shows on the TV during the session. The other artists I interacted with were friendly too.I definitely would recommend TJ if youre looking to get a dope anime tattoo and this shop as well.

I can’t say enough to adequately express how fantastic this studio is. Angel (owner/ artist) has the most amazing team of talented artists. They’re like a super hero squad of tattooers. I’ve had three sessions with Angel over the last 6 months and I’m floored with how quickly our time goes by… being in the shop is like hanging with family; lots of convos make the time pass quickly and are a nice distraction to (let’s be honest, tattoos feel like a cheese grater scrubbing your skin) the pain. I highly recommend if your looking for realism artists but if you check out their IG’s you can get a real feel for the work they put out.@blackatlasstudios

Very very happy with the work I had done here. Kelsey is incredible and the shop has great vibes. Loved getting to watch movies while I sat for my piece. Kelseys breathing techniques really helped me get through the pain of a pretty large sternum piece. Love the end result and had a great experience!

The artists are very welcoming, kind, and overall great people. Angel is a fantastic artist who is extremely passionate about tattooing and is very talented. I had a 2-day tattoo session on my thigh back in August and Angel killed it. He made it an amazing experience and had no problem working with me on the tattoo design, and was very understanding and patient.If youre looking for realistic tattoos, you would be hard-pressed to find an artist with better shading and attention to detail. Angel is definitely one of the best artists you will find in Chicago.

I have been seeing Nelson for a large custom piece on my leg, and his talent has gone above and beyond what I envisioned. Ive also watched the other artists work and Ive seen their own personal paintings they do on the side. No slacking, no games - just fierce work. I’ve only ever been tattooed at Black Atlas Studios and everyone is extremely talented and great to work with. I’ve worked with 5 separate artists at the shop and have loved the work I have gotten. The shop is so clean and has a great vibe. Can’t wait to come back and get more!

I love it here. My family and I followed Terrence here. Incredible artist. The others are as well, very nice people. After a particularly long session, I felt very dizzy and they helped take care of me and made sure I was okay.

Im on in Chicago for the weekend and didnt prebook an appointment beforehand but they were able to see me and my friend as a walk-in. I saw Mike Ramos and he was able to take my vision just that one step further and create this amazing piece on my wrist. I absolutely love it. Everyone was super friendly and I fully reccomended the studio.

Tj have done amazing job on my tattoo! Yes, I even scheduled more work for him to do. Hes extremely professional and would make sure youre comfortable and answer every question.

I called the place to find out if you need to make an appointment and the guy on the phone said we’re booked for today you need to make an appointment online.Then I told him I wasn’t looking for today I was asking for tomorrow and he hung up on me!Was very rude and polite and unprofessional I can’t imagine what they would be like in person if they’re extremely rude over the phone
