LOVE THIS PLACE! Always a great, welcoming environment no matter what your back story may be. My artist is Drew. He does amazing work. His lines, shading, and art are always amazing 👏 🤩 I love going to him because I know I can trust him with tattooing me. Hes a great tattoo artist. 💙

Mark did my tattoo. He had the general design ready to go when I got there, and it turned out phenomenal. Very reasonably priced, great attention to detail, always made sure I was comfortable. Definitely will go back for more.

Came in on a walk-in basis and was able to get in. Was greeted in a friendly manner. The tattoo artist, Drew Powers, was kind, professional and did an amazing job! I got my birth flower tattooed on my forearm and my name was in cursive in the stem, it is beautiful and I love it! Thanks Drew!!! I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a new tat in the area!!!!

I had the day off today and decided I wanted to get another tattoo. Went to Stronghold Tattoo Studio in Lincoln Park. I walked in was greeted kindly right away. The feel of the shop was great. It was clean and professional. I asked for Andrew Powers (you all should too because he’s great!). Andrew patiently worked with me on a design until it was exactly what I wanted. The tattoo came out great! So beautiful! So professional. I will always go to this shop and I will always ask for Andrew! He’s the best!

Just a terrible experience from the start! I’m only giving two stars because the studio is nice looking! I’m visiting Duluth for two weeks and I wanted to get a like a mid-sized, neo-traditional Naurto anime tattoo. Just of Naurto, nothing else. It’s a shame because one of my friends recommended Stronghold! I go to the shop and it seemed like NOBODY WANTED TO DO IT! I was even willing to make an appointment before I go home. The website clearly states “WALK-INS WELCOME”, but I didn’t feel welcome at all. Everyone was so passive aggressive and when I spoke to Mark (the owner), he seemed totally uninterested…especially when his instagram profile shows pretty much all neo-traditional / traditional tattoos. I’m not sure if everyone was having a bad day but the customer service SUCKS! To be honest, I don’t recommend this shop to anyone.

Really liked the shop and two workers. This was my first tattoo, niece’s 5th, and daughter’s first. Patient, knowledgeable staff. Andrew did a great job on the artwork and tattoos!

Came in for a walk-in when they weren’t that busy. I love my tattoo design and font! I highly recommend Mark the artist who worked on me. My tattoo appointment overall took about 25 minutes but the tattoo itself took 5 minutes. I’m very happy with how it turned out!!

I got a tattoo of my last name on the inside of my bicep and Andrew Powers did an amazing job. Couldn’t have asked for any better line work to be done. He was quick and was priced well! Fully recommend!

I have worked with Mark for 2 anime tattoos, Morgan who did 2 realistic flower tattoos, and Anna during their flash tattoo event and got a moon, stars, and cloud combo done. They all turned out amazing. The atmosphere has such positive vibes and those artists always were so nice and make you feel comfortable away. I used to bounce around between Aristide but ever since I came here I’ve stuck to Stronghold. I highly recommend.

OMG the shop is stunning! So clean and elegant, yet modern. Mark is the best! He did one of my favorite tattoos back when he worked else where. I knew I had to come visit the new shop! I did the super rad gumball machine tattoo (get what you get) and this is the absolute amazing tattoo I got! I suggest checking this shop out for all your tat needs but also def recommend the gumball machine 🖤

I did my research and read the reviews of all the tattoo shops in Duluth and Stronghold had the best from what I could see. I met with Mark and he was great to work with. The shop is clean and very professionally run. All the artists that work there were very interested in what I was getting and very supportive during the process. I can’t say enough about how great my experience was and how much I love my new tattoo, Mark does incredible work. I am definitely looking forward to coming back for more tattoos. I was looking for a shop that I would want to come back to and Stronghold Tattoo is the place. Walking into this shop makes me feel right at home every time, I dont even bother with anyone else in town any more. Clean shop with a great atmosphere and attitudes. Ive gotten at least one piece from every artist there and not a single one disappoints. Stronghold takes care of their customers like no one else, and the artistry and color work speak for themselves. My most complimented work comes from Stronghold!

I highly recommend going to Stronghold for a tattoo. Mark has done 7 of my tattoos, including a cover-up and they’ve all turned out great. Mark also does a great job on melanated skin. Morgan has done one of my tattoos and she does a great job as well. Everyone that works at Stronghold is very talented. :)

I had my first tattoo at age 49 last week. The 5 star reviews are right on! Everyone was very friendly, the atmosphere is very comfortable, and the sanitation practices are top notch. My tattoo was with Mark. He was very friendly and professional and made me feel at ease from start to finish. He is also a very talented artist. I highly recommend Stronghold Tattoo to anyone.

The best tattooing experience I’ve had!The shop was very clean and a welcoming environment. The artist spaces are separated by half walls, which have curtains to allow for more privacy- something which I really appreciate.Morgan was my artist, and she did a great job explaining exactly what she would be doing. Her design was exactly what I was looking for and she did a wonderful job with my work. Already have my next appointment booked!

My Wife and I had an awesome experience with Austin Tomczak as our artist. He was professional and really easy to work with. He had our three small tattoos done in 1 hr. I would highly recommend him

I’ve known the owner and artist Mark Tyler for almost four years. Mark worked with my mom and I to get a simple Simba tattoo and did not try and force us into a higher price piece. He has since done over 70% of my pieces and almost all of those are from his own imagination. Mark is sympathetic to client’s tattoo experience and works to make the process as memorable as possible. I recently had my chest done at his new studio and wow. The place is beautiful. As someone with a bad back, the memory foam table/chair was highly appreciated. admittedly I had to take a couple breaks. Mark never made me feel bad about taking a break, never rushed me, and acted incredibly professionally. After the tattoo was finished Mark went over the tattoo healing process and referred me to additional products that he sold. He did not in any way pressure me to buy HIS product, but rather gave an honest opinion and recommendation. I only regret that Stronghold Tattoo is in Duluth because I just moved to Chicago. 10/10 recommend, will be back.

The new studio is a great facility and Mark clearly holds everything and everyone inside to a high standard. I couldnt have picked a better place to get my first tattoo done. Mark was awesome and made me feel comfortable through the whole process. I came in with a commonly requested design and he didnt hesitate to help get it laid out even better than I pictured it. Im also really glad that I let him run with the color work on it! I got to see more of his work on one of my friends and Im looking forward to working with him on more in the future!

This place is awesome!! Welcoming, friendly, clean, and artists dedicated to their craft. Mark Tyler did my most recent tattoo and I could not be happier! Told him I wanted a lighthouse but that he could have artistic freedom on the whole thing. Definitely exceeded my expectations! Quoted me a price, and stuck to that price even though it took a few hours longer than he expected it to. Mark wanted to make sure it was done beautifully and correctly, not rushed. His line work is phenomenal! Mark is my go to artist from now on and I cant wait to see what he comes up with for me next. If its your first tattoo or your 50th, go to Stronghold! Mark is very professional and runs a welcoming shop. The place is clean and very up date down to the minor details.I had mark do a memorial piece on my arm and he was very easy to work with even though I had a lot of requests. His work is phenomenal from the line work to the shading and color(this is my first color tattoo). I plan to go back for more!

Ive known Mark for several years and at the time, opening up his own shop was a goal of his. Coming back from Denver to stop in and see his new shop was special. Easily the cleanest/nicest shop Ive seen and Marks work is superb. Hes won awards and has a knack of putting a perfect twist on any work you want done with him. I let Mark get creative with my ideas and it always turns out 10 times better then what I had imagined in my head. He is focused on quality and has a high standard, so any employees in his shop are hand picked and have serious skills. I have a beautiful thigh sleeve going and will always be coming back to let him throw down. 5 out of 5. Congrats Mark!

I went to Stronghold during the grand opening for a flash tattoo by Mark Tyler and absolutely loved it! The studio was awesome, it had a great set up, there were sketch books to check out, the service was great, Mark Tyler took his time and made sure I got what I wanted out of the tattoo and made sure to check that I was doing good throughout the process. I’m definitely coming here again and recommending it to my friends and family!

Already set up my next appointment, Taylor knocks it out if the park! She Microbladed my brows and corrected the shape and they look absolutely amazing. My first appointment was a few days ago at Stronghold and I was blown away. The space is awesome and well thought out. I was impressed by how much space and storage each artist had. Im thrilled they offer cosmetic tattoos that only last a few years, I work in the beauty industry so keeping up with the trends in important to me. When I found out I could get my eyeliner tattooed and have it last around 3 years I was thrilled and booked right away. It was really neat to see how involved and invested the owner (Mark) is. He was positive and kind, you can tell he genuinely wants to help his artists grow. 5 stars isnt enough! Thank you Taylor for making me look and feel fabulous!

I got a small leg piece done last week by Mark at Stronghold Tattoo Studio. When I got there Mark was working on my piece, asked me a few questions to get it right and then talked to me while I waited. I suggest filling out his online form under booking on the website and uploading pictures so he knows what you want to get a head start. His shop is impressive!! If I had to sum it up in 3 words I would say private, classy and clean. I’ve been to Anchors end and Benchmark prior, which are also nice but Stronghold in my opinion is the best. Mark does quality work for a fair price in a timely fashion. Thank you Mark, looking forward to next time!

The owner of Stronghold, Mark, is the only person Ill go to for my tattooing. Hes incredibly detailed, skilled, and meticulous with his work. Hell listen to your ideas and carefully craft your design. If you want to visit a shop that takes care of your wants and needs from start to finish, this is the place to go! Taylor Jaye is fantastic!!! As soon as I saw the results, I’d wish I’d have done it sooner— but I’m glad I waited to experience Taylor and her eye for perfection. I’ve never felt so comfortable without makeup on, and I can’t wait to recommend her to everyone I know that’s considering having this done! She is UNBELIEVABLY talented and knows her stuff. I was a little apprehensive about getting this done, but she makes sure you understand the process completely; there are no surprises here. Marks attention to detail on a piece for my dog was what really made me happy. Originally I went in for his name, and then most recently added to the piece with his paw print and years, and throughout Ive been incredibly pleased with Mark and his line work, and attention to detail on the paw print itself. I was so happy to see him print a larger scale image of the paw and have it beside him for reference, to make sure he could get it as close as possible to the original.The shop itself is clean, and welcoming -- an amazing place to walk into and take in.Mark has made my first tattoo experience incredible!

This is my first tattoo by Diego and stronghold tattoo. I have been wanting to get a sleeve done for the better part of 3 years but haven’t had the best idea for how to start it. Diego was phenomenal to work with and did a great job collaborating with me and understanding what i wanted to get. His shop is professional, very high quality, and a very relaxing atmosphere. Overall it was a great experience and I am excited for the next session with Diego.

Recently got a piece done by Mark, who has done two previously for me, the first two were at a different studio also in Duluth, Marks new studio however is extraordinarily clean, open, and comfortable. The man himself does some of the best work I’ve seen ( I’m a 21 y/o marine, rah, so I’ve seen it all tattoo wise, but I’m also not a professional critic) I told Mark the just of an idea and say alright you can do whatever you want with that and he’s done an absolutely immaculate job each of three times. I will be going back to this studio next time I’m home.

Absolutely LOVE this new tattoo shop, Mark is an amazing artist with great ideas. I would HIGHLY recommend the gumball machine if youre open minded and looking for a good deal. I got a full shade/color thigh tattoo for only $60 out of the gumball machine, such a fun concept and Ill definitely be doing it again!!

Cant say enough good things about Mark and his new shop! I had a calf tattoo (the leg not the baby cow) done by him about four years ago and hes been my one and only artist ever since. I had a wonky tattoo that was done by a different artist previously and I went to Mark just recently to get it fixed and I couldnt be happier with my decision! Not only did he fix the areas i saw needed to he fixed but he found a couple other messed up areas i didnt even notice and fixed those also. The new shop is very clean and organized. I’m going to be honest, at first I wasn’t sure what to expect. Ya know a new shop opening up... I wasn’t keeping my hopes high. But once I got there... WOW. It is so clean, so cute, and very professional. Very impressed with it being brand new. I did not have to wait long to receive my tattoo and the employees were very friendly and curious about the tattoo I was receiving. During the tattoo process I was not bored at all, the artist and I conversed through almost the whole thing, keeping my mind off the tattoo “pain” altogether. Now the tattoo itself is beautiful and exactly what I wanted. If I could give 10 stars I would. HIGHLY recommend and I will be going back very soon for more amazing work

I got microblading done by Taylor and am so happy with the way my eyebrows turned out! I recommend anyone wanting to get their eyebrows done, go to her, you will not be disappointed at all! I can’t wait to go back for all of my future touch ups! Their shop is very nice as well.

I was in for a gumball tattoo today and I am by far impressed! The quality is amazing, the design is beautiful and the types of designs really bring out Marks many talents in tattooing. I definitely will be back again!

I found a fabulous artist here, her name is Emma. I love her style and eye for the unique. The shop itself is stylish, comfortable, and impeccably sanitary.

I had my eyebrows microbladed and shaded (hybrid brow) by Taylor, and WOW! I have hated my eyebrows my whole life. I got stitches in my eyebrow when I was two and have had to fill in the scar everyday. Taylor did an amazing job. She makes sure she knows exactly what you want and that you know how it will turn out. Highly recommend!

I just got microblading done on my eyebrows by the AMAZING TAYLOR JAYE! I am ECSTATIC about my results! She suggested the combo brow and I LOVE IT! Taylor is SO KNOWLEDGEABLE about the entire process. She gives AWESOME pre- procedure instructions and EASY aftercare instructions! I was never in the eyebrow game before now and I CANNOT BELIEVE I WAITED THIS LONG. However, I am SO happy I waited because TAYLOR was FABULOUS! To be honest with you, one of the reasons I have not done it before, was that I didnt want to be that person that people look at and the ONLY THING they can see was their eye brows! Well THAT totally did NOT happen...I just LOVE my results. The actual physical STUDIO (Stronghold Tattoo Studio) was probably the most STATE OF THE ART place I have ever been! It was SO MODERN, CLEAN and just overall AMAZING! I would recommend IF YOU ARE EVEN THINKING about microblading MAKE SURE YOU GO TO TAYLOR. I NEVER have to think about my eyebrows ever again!
