The Living Art Studio is hands down the best place to get a tattoo done. Not only do they do insane body art, but their staff is extremely professional but the most chill and relaxed group of people you will ever meet.From the second I wheeled into their killer studio, I was greeted by smiling staff and I felt welcome. The studio is amazing with all sorts of vintage oddities you won’t find anywhere else. I was offered water and coffee and the staff didn’t hesitate to make sure I was as comfortable as I could be. They even let my wife and extremely loud 16 month old son feel welcome and were able to hang out and watch my session. Tell me what other studio that would be cool with them hanging out in the studio. NONE.My artist was the owner of the studio and his work is off the charts. I will only get my tattoos done by The Living Art Studio and am proud to be their walking billboard. Thank you to Chris and the entire studio staff for an elite experience.

They each turned out great!I appreciated the prompt response to my online inquiry about setting up our appts and then when we followed up with the artist directly, she got back to us right away.The studio space is clean and eclectic, with views of the lake that are inspiring.We were pleased with Sydneys attention to detail and her patience as we ensured we were happy with the tattoo design and placement.Overall, it was an awesome experience!

A dear friend was in town for a limited time. We have been wanting to get matching best friend tatoos for many years. Due to a scheduling snafu somewhere else, we contact Larry at Living Art. Im so glad we did...he was very professional, kind, funny and we had the best experience. We have been going back and forth for many years on design ideas. As you can imagine with 4 women, there were many view points and Larry was able to take our ideas and blend them into a perfect design that we all could finally agree on. The studio was gorgeous and extremely clean. And best of all, we LOVE our tatoos. They are simply gorgeous!! Highly recommend Larry and The Living Art Studio!

Got a great memorial tattoo with my grandmas handwriting and a beautiful little feather by Jess! She also fancied up my boring little semicolon flash tattoo with a splash of color for me. She is a wonderful, creative artist and everyone at the shop was super nice! Shop is really nice, clean and has a great view! Check them out!! I will definitely be back! I have lots more skin space to fill in!

This place is beautiful, and the views of Lake Superior and Downtown Duluth while you’re getting inked makes it all worth it.Chris is everything you’d want in an owner. He deeply cares about the customer, is an amazing artist, and takes great care during the entire process. While sitting in the chair, it was nice knowing that everything was clean, sterile, and professional.As I said above, I still have 1-2 sessions to go. Living Art Studio is the one and only studio I will get my artwork done. All of the staff is extremely helpful, welcoming, understanding and does phenomenal work. I see Chris for my tattoos and I have never felt so comfortable and confident that I will be leaving loving the work done by him. The new studio is absolutely gorgeous and in a great location. Hands down the best studio I have ever stepped foot in and will be a customer for as long as I am getting tattooed.

Probably the most professional studio I have been to. They offered me coffee, tea, water upon arriving. Very nice touch. This place felt organized-not found in every tattoo studio.The studio itself is beautiful and was very easy to find-great location. Is there a better place to get tattooed? Absolutely not. The kindness, and professionalism that radiates from this place is without measure. I’ve been seeing these guys since they first opened their doors and they’ve never given me a reason to ever decide to go elsewhere. Not just Chris, Josh, and Matt, but every person that contribute to this establishment is beyond kind and personable. The tattoos are beyond the quality of which would be found in a little city like Duluth. Everyone adds their own little touch and style preference and blow it out of the park hourly. If you’re looking for a place to get your first or your last tattoo, look no further. The Living Art Studio is nothing short of amazing.

This was the best experience ever. I’ve been to quite a few tattoo shops and nothing like this. Everyone made you feel welcome and it was a friendly and fun environment. Very professional too. Our tattoo artist Phil did an amazing job on both me and my sister and we couldn’t be happier.

The whole atmosphere was very calming and welcoming, Sydney was super fun to work with on designing my tattoo and very willing to make every tiny adjustment to make it exactly what I wanted and made the experience amazing! It was my first tattoo and im definitely going to be going back for my future one! The photo is from right after the appointment while it is wrapped, but even with that you can see her details and blending of color to make the leaves look perfect!

The owner chris is the most unprofessional business owner I have ever met. Who as a business owner gets on social media and down talks past employees because they took a different opportunity ? Not to mention after several of his artist left his shop because of the hostel work environment that Chris created I went back in and he had several unlicensed people doing tattoos without direct supervision like the Minnesota health department requires.Absolutely would not recommend this shop to anyone let alone go there again myself !!!

The new location is beautiful, great views and a wonderful atmosphere.Chris worked with me to create the perfect tattoo. He was very professional and patient with me. There is a reason this shop is so highly rated, I got my first ever tattoo done here on my 18th birthday (5 years ago now!) and originally was scheduled to be tattooed by an apprentice. The apprentice was no longer working there on the date of my appointment so Josh Kirkpatrick did my tattoo instead.He was kind, respectful, and courteous. I believe I was even charged at the apprentice rate due to the circumstances though I happily would have paid for the standard rate - but that just goes to show how great this shop is.My tattoo to this day still looks amazing and almost just as vibrant as the day I got it which is definitely a feat considering how long ago now I got it. It is my favorite tattoo I have to date and he captured exactly what I wanted before I knew what I really wanted. I have received many compliments on the tattoo :)I have recommended everyone I can to this shop because it is just that good! I sadly moved out of the area across the country but if I ever return I would love to make a stop and get another piece from this place.The atmosphere, the artists, the location, and the views are all unbeatable. They truly are the best in the northland.

Great experience with Shaniya! (I got my conch pierced) Her studio is so clean and calming with lots of mirrors to check yourself out in. Piercing process was so quick and she made sure that I was comfortable along with my siblings. I loved it and will be coming back for any other piercings!

Shaniya gave me a daith piercing and I couldnt be happier with the result! The placement is exactly where I wanted it and she made the whole experience extremely pleasant! I could tell she knew exactly what she was doing! She was so nice and the piercing itself was over before I knew it, and the end result looks great! She made it such a fun experience. Shanna made sure I was pain-free, comfortable, and wasn’t left with questions. Every time I am here, my experience is superb.

Shanyia does amazing piercings. The environment is super comfortable and she makes sure you’re doing okay. I’ve gotten two piercings from her so far and they look beautiful. I will be back for more soon!! She talks you through the healing process well and answers any questions you might have. I love Shanyia and the amazing work that she does!

Shaniya did a fantastic job with my piercings. She made sure I was okay with the placement and comfortable. She also does a wonderful job explaining aftercare once the piercings are complete. I would highly recommend going to her for all your piercings wants & needs.

I was first drawn to living art by their company logo of a bonsai tree. The artwork I was looking to have done was going to originally be a bonsai tree done in the style of a traditional ink painting. Chris, the owner, whose work is in high demand, was able to squeeze me in for a consultation in spite of his being so busy. This is something I should tell you about Chris right now, the guy gives and gives and goes so far beyond for everyone he knows let alone does work for. Through his artistic vision, my original idea and a few samples of the artwork I saw on the internet expanded into a half sleave of a tree along a river passing between mountains with a box turtle basking itself underneath reflecting on the landscape before him. He has a gift for keying into the nature of a person and representing it in the art he does. He truly captured the essence of me and the life I aspire to live. The actual tattoo session was professional and relaxed. He went through every step, answered all my questions, and made sure I was both confident and comfortable. The experience was so enjoyable between the skill he has in handling the needle and the conversations we shared. In the end I was the proud owner of a true work of art. Since then, I have gotten more work done by Chris, have brought friends to receive tattoos from him as well as the other incredibly gifted artists in his studio. I would recommend Living Art to anyone. Everyone is so friendly, they have an skilled artist for just about anything you are looking for and above all they truly are wonderful people that go above and beyond.

Our group of 4 went for matching tattoos. It’s a very nice location in Canal Park. Larry was fun and did a great job on personalizing our tattoos from ideas we sent him in advance. I love it!

I saw Shanna Johnson for micro blading. She did an amazing job explaining the process from start to finish. She did a great job matching my natural hair color. Amazing communication during the entire process. She has reached out several times since my sessions just to touch base. I would absolutely recommend her!!

I went in to get my nose pierced and it was my first piercing besides my ear lobes. I was very nervous but Shaniya was so amazing and made me feel super comfortable. It was super quick and painless and I love everything about it. Amazing people and place. Thank you :)

I got tattood by chris at the tattoo you midwest convention this weekend and all i can say is how amazing of an artist he is and how amazing everyone was at the convention. I’m from Duluth and Chris did my first tattoo years ago, I’ve since moved out to Wyoming and I still make the 15 hour drive just to have them ink me. They are the only ones I’d let ink my body.

Literally slapped a tattoo on me. There was little to no communication and unprofessionalism that will certainly lead me to fetting my tattoo removed. It is not the sole responsibilty of the client to communicate a design, style, and technique to an artist.
