Appalachian Ink & Ruby Piercing

I came into the shop today (08/11/2024). I was wanting an Indian for my 30th birthday. I was very impressed on how short notice I had arrived and how I was treated. Chris immediately was super helpful and explained for me to send a picture to him of what I wanted. Just like that within 15mins I was in his booth and he was beginning my tattoo. I was highly impressed with how clean everything was, how down to earth everyone was. By far one of my best experiences at a tattoo shop (as I have several tattoos). Also it just seemed meant to be as there was not one song from the time I walked in to the time I was done that I did not know. Best play list, hands down. I highly recommend these guys. Fair priced, wonderful work, nothing could have been different, & if I’m ever back in the area I’m making a return trip for sure!

My daughter was so nervous about getting her ears pierced (even though she really wanted it done) that we put it off for a solid two years. Chose Appalachian Ink & Ruby Piercing based on a gut feeling alone. I volunteered to get a piercing first so my daughter could observe the process, but she was still nearly in tears by the time it was her turn in the chair. Tims demeanor was perfect for her--kind, calm and soft-spoken, but with a touch of silliness, which put her at ease. He explained how the piercing would work and demonstrated endless patience with her barrage of nervous questions. He talked her through everything and had it done before she even knew it. 110 percent recommend Tim and this shop as a whole. Our piercings healed quickly with no issues--and Im a bonafide new member of Tims cult following. I joke, but am serious when I tell you to have no reservations about going here. You will not find a better piercer in this town--or beyond...

I had my tragus pierced here, Ive gotten a tattoo here, Ive had my teens nostril pierced here and my 10 year olds second lobe piercing completed here. Everyone weve worked with or had the pleasure of meeting have been very nice and helpful. The placement for all piercings have been spot on and healing has been easy. The prices are great and I love that they will change out jewelry for no additional cost. My prior piercer would charge a minimum of $30 just to change out jewelry. I would definitely recommend this shop. Thank you Tina, Chris, Tim & Anna!

Went in to get my nose pierced, one on each nostril. Went in and everything went fine, the piercing was technically done correctly except they were uneven. Noticeably uneven and I had several people telling me this. Went back and spoke with the piercer, she was great to work with and offered to repierce one side for free to correct it. That’s was great up until it got done again even more uneven the second time. I was really hopeful and wanted to like the services I paid for but now my face looks uneven and it’s upsetting to say the least. I wouldn’t recommend getting even piercings, maybe something individual would be fine but if it needs to be balanced I would not go here

Hands down the best tattoo and piercing shop in all of Franklin. I’ve had all of my piercings (septum, nostril, bellybutton, second ear) done here by Tim, who makes the atmosphere instantly comfortable and fully open to sarcasm😂, all while maintaining a highly professional and informative experience for whatever you may be looking for. Highly recommended to anyone looking to get something done.

Absolutely loved my piercings ! I got these a few months ago, they’ve healed wonderfully. And they even gave me a paper with a bunch of information about aftercare for my piercings. So glad I found this place, such a sweet environment !

My wife and I wanted complimenting tattoos during an anniversary vacation in the mountains. We saw this place and called ahead on Thursday for a Friday appointment. It was my first and my wifes fifth tattoo. Jess was incredibly helpful through the design and tattooing process, and was just a cool person to hang out with for a while. All around best experience for both of us, 10/10 would recommend.

I got my ears peirced by Tim! He is very talented and has a calm demeanor, it helped me stay relaxed while getting peirced. I also appreciated how welcomed he made me feel. He is the best piercer I have gone to and I will definitely be comming back for all of my piercings in the future!

Me and my husband drove 30 or so minutes from Cullowhee to this place and I actually had decent hopes since people have said good things, but as soon as we walked in it was a bad experience. I dont know who the guy with the mustache & beard there was or his name, because he never introduced himself first of all, but he was automatically rude to the both of us. my husband isnt very talkative and the man there never even asked us what we needed and was just side eying us the whole time. He legit asked us why are u guys acting so weird after he literally came in after smoking and was acting high.. it was kind of baffling because we werent there for anything complicated, we both have piercings and I have ink done as well but my husband just wanted new jewelry for his septum and he was confused by that for some reason. the ladies at the front desk were actually nice and welcoming, but for some reason the guy there was so off putting it made us never want to come back. I originally wanted to get my navel done but after that I just wanted to get out of there.

Best experience Ive had. The atmosphere was very calm and down to earth. Would totally recommend to anyone wanting to get pierced or anyone wanting a tattoo.

I have been in multiple times for piercings and tattoos. (Basically my entire family has) The shop is clean, the staff is always helpful and professional. The only place I go for tattoos and piercings! Tim has pierced both sides of my nose and done a helix for me and he made the process super smooth and well-informed me of how to take care of my new piercings and I love them! I’ve also gotten 4 tattoos so far from Jess and she is so sweet and always willing to work with me in any way to make sure my pieces are just how I want them. She always checks in with me during each tattoo to see how I’m doing and is all around amazing. I’ve always had such a good experience anytime I’ve been here and everyone is so nice and welcoming. Would highly recommend getting your piercings and tattoos done here!

I found this shop by accident. Came from a shop I thought I liked after a bad experience with a new piercer. The attention to detail and professionalism this shop has had has kept me coming back. I have referred everyone I knew to make the trip from Hayesville out to Franklin because it has been worth it every time! What to expect with the piercing has been very well laid out and the instructions about how to care for it after have been amazing (even though I tend not to listen) and when anything has ever gone wrong (mostly my doing) they have helped me fix it or make it right again. The best and only shop I trust for piercings including on my kiddos.

Originally I was super nervous about getting my nipples pierced. But after some coaching and education from Tim and Anna I went for it. They handled me with care and I can’t wait to return to get it switched out to a ring once they heal. I live in South Carolina but will always travel here for my piercings and tats. Everyone is great and Chris is by far one of the most phenomenal tattoo artists.

The best! Very experienced. I go in for a piercing about once a month and the facility is always clean and the staff is always welcoming. The shop has a wide variety of jewelry always in stock. The piercer(s) are professional and explain the entire process from beginning to end. I highly recommend them ❤️

I got a tattoo here the other day with my friends and girlfriend while on vacation. The artists are great: not heavy handed but fast and perform great line work and attention to detail. All of the staff are friendly and professional. I didn’t personally get pierced by Tim, but everyone else in our party had a service done by him and he made it so easy to connect with them and make them feel comfortable (some of them were getting their first piercing). He’s very knowledgeable about piercing. All my friends were impressed with how quick and easy the piercings were done. The whole place is super clean, which is another green flag. Super fair prices, honestly one of the best tattoo/piercing shop experiences I’ve ever had. I will definitely make the 9 hour drive to come back and get more work done here!!

The people that work here are some of the most down to earth people you could meet. They are all super friendly and love cracking jokes with everyone. It honestly feels like i’m going to hangout with friends/family every-time that I go. I have been here at least 4-5 times and my experience is always excellent. The building and the equipment are always extremely clean and tidy. Tim is such a delight to be around, and is 100% real and honest with you when it comes to getting any piercings. Overall, definitely choose this place if you want quality tattoos/piercings and if you want to have a great time.

I highly recommend this location for any tattoo that you are wanting or wanting something pierced. These are great people and very friendly. They are very professional and deeply care about the work that they do and their customers satisfaction. I have known Tina and Chris Haynes for many years. There isnt anything that I would not let them tat on me. I myself is learning to tattoo and Tina has been mentoring me and is guiding me in the right direction of becoming very proficient at the art of tattooing. I went in to get my nose pierced. I was super nervous, but Tim did an incredible job! He was super professional and very personable. He calmed my nerves and explained everything in detail from the initial piercing to the aftercare. Super clean and very friendly! A great experience all around!

Tina, Tim, Chris, Desiree, James and the apprentices are an excellent group when visiting to get tattooed and/or pierced. I always feel welcome; their art and tattoo skills are unmatched. Tim is very knowledgeable with any questions about anything when it come to getting pierced. Excellent and fair prices, extremely clean work spaces and will always come back for more tattoos.

Highly recommend for a piercing or tattoo. I got a tattoo from Jess a month ago. I love her line work and her patience. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. I tend to have anxiety when going into places like this, but everyone here is super nice and like a family. The piercer is super laid back, patient, and overall a wonderful personality to be around. Me and my best friend went here for our appointment and James did an amazing job. They where all so nice and friendly to on arrival. He listened and did it perfectly. The doves where placed perfectly and he was super understanding of my sensitivity to my cringe factor when on the inside joint of my arm. 10 out of 10 will be back to visit them. Love that they work on Sunday’s and where quick at getting us in. Not to mention they where so kid friendly and understanding that we brought them in. (However if your reading this there where to adults and a nine month old. Please watch your children they are not there to watch them)

Wonderful service! i’ve had my nose pierced by Anna (who was supervised by Tim) and i had a wonderful fine line tattoo done by James (Probie). this is by far the cleanest and most professional tattoo/piercing studio i have ever seen! I cannot wait to go back and have more work done here!

I have gotten several piercings from Tim, and a couple tattoos from their artist Desiree and have never once left the shop dissatisfied. Everyone is always super friendly, and everything is very clean and professional. They are my favorite tattoo shop to go to in town, and everyone is very down to earth and goes above and beyond to make sure people are leaving happy and comfortable with their work!

I got a tattoo, and two nose piercings from this place a couple days ago, and I all I can say is that this place is amazing. James is the artist who did my tattoo for me that day, and he was very kind. Tim was super funny and nice which calmed my nerves, it was a very sterile and painless process for me. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a nice clean studio, fair prices, and professional artists and piercers!

Tim (the piercer) is super sweet and professional. I was nervous going in for piercings because none of mine have ever taken, and the piercings always reject. The equipment was super sterile and he was the only one who was able to get my ears and septum to take properly. Definitely coming back and having him do the rest of my piercings

In January I got a helix. The guy did not explain anything other than heres some pressure. He did not tell me what material the jewelry was nor any aftercare instructions. It has not been healing properly so I went back just for them to say give it time.I went to an APP certified piercer and they explained that the jewelry was a non-pure metal and reacting to my skin (and oxodizing). They changed the jewelry and gave aftercare info like I should have gotten in the first place. Rethink going here for a piercing if you want it done right.

The owner and his wife were genuinely nice, and made sure my girlfriend had the most comfortable experience with her piercing. The piercer did a great job as well. Every artist there is talented in their own way. I booked an appointment for a tattoo here in a couple weeks! I highly recommend!

My husband and I got our tattoos here and we were so pleased!! Out tattoo artist was very sweet, professional, clean, and patient. It was my first tattoo, so she was very gentle and it hardly hurt at all! We will definitely be returning here and recommending it to others. 😊

Daughter got her septum pierced there. From the time we walked in until w were finished everyone was nice and friendly. Shop was very clean. Tim made my daughter feel very comfortable. Walk-ins are welcome. Would recommend them to anyone in the area. Convenient time and location!

As somebody who has a total of six piercings and three tattoos, this has likely been one of my worst experiences in terms of service. I’ve recently moved locations and had to find a new piercing/tattoo spot, as my friends told me this place was great. However the shop has various red flags.1. They didn’t even ID me or ask for any paperwork at all. Which can pose for legal issues if the person is underage. I don’t look 18, I’m 4’8 and have a baby face and my tattoos weren’t visible so that couldn’t be the factor.2. They rushed through the entire process and didn’t explain step by step what was happening.3. They didn’t allow me to look at the location of my piercing and just shoved the needle through it. I was concerned about the location and traveled back to my home town and let my typical shop look at it. which confirmed the piercing was too low.The prices were fair (30) for the not so great service so I can’t complain with that factor. I just don’t recommend.

We had a great experience with Tim (I believe was his name), my husband got a nose piercing and I got my ears pierced he was cool did a great job and was patient with us we are very indecisive people haha. It was great definitely recommend here and will be coming back for any further piercings or tats

I really couldn’t have been happier, high noon tattoo near WCU really butchered a simple jewelry change that left me in pain for months and even tried to assure me that it was the right jewelry and I was just sensitive. I finally gave in and figured I’d see a different professional for an opinion on the jewelry, I’m literally so thankful for Tim, He was so patient with me and my anxious giggles while getting the old jewelry out. He asked if I was comfortable and listened to my past experiences while teaching me new information on how to care for new piercings. He was super professional and truly cared about what he was doing. 100% will be back. If you go see Tim, make sure you let him know how appreciated he is and leave him a good tip.

Can not give higher marks for this place. The atmosphere here is amazing. Everyone was super kind and welcoming and they do amazing work! Tim and his apprentice (I can’t remember her name 😬😬 she has orange hair) did amazing with my septum piercing, my sisters helixes, and changing her tragus jewelry. Both piercings turned out great and they didn’t seem to mind changing her jewelry which was a pain. The place was very clean and they really took the time to listen to any concerns. Another added bonus are the unbeatable prices! Pricing was amazing for jewelry and piercings. I will definitely be back for future piercings and have already recommended them to friends.

I’ve gone to Appalachian Ink & Ruby 3 times for flash sale tattoos. And all 3 times I was very happy with both the tattoo and the artist. Although I do not recommend bringing your child to your tattoo appointments if it can be avoided, my young son was treated with kindness each time he went with me.Tina did one tattoo and Dez did two of them. I will definitely be back for bigger tattoos.

This is by far my favorite body art shop around! The atmosphere here is unmatched and the artists and piercers here are so kind and friendly I almost feel like part of their little family everytime I enter the shop. I have recieved a total of 5 piercings from the shop and plan on more because Tim does such a wonderful job of keeping the client comfortable, keeping the area clean, and is super knowledgable about aftercare. The artists here too are unmatched and have some of the best work I have ever seen around this area. If I could give more than five stars I totally would, I just love it here and I highly recommend!!

Almost a week later and I am still sharing my experience and loving my tattoo. I walked in with my wife and friend to watch them get a tattoo and walked out with my first tattoo. The staff were very welcoming and enthusiastic about helping me think through my first tattoo ideas and also willing to talk through placement ideas. The stations felt like individual artist studios, everything was clean and upto code, everyone was friendly and they all felt like old friends and family by the time I was done. The artist Dez did an amazing job on bringing my idea to life and took it 10 steps further with her creativity and suggestions. I am definitely pleased and would definitely recommend this shop to anyone looking for a great experience for their first, second, third or whatever number tattoo. Needless to say I will definitely be back and can’t really see myself going anywhere else.

I got my septum pierced a few months ago and the guy who pierced my nose was super friendly and was able to have a conversation with a lot of humor which helped A LOT. The shop was very clean and I’ll be back. I would definitely suggest checking ID as they didnt check mine. But overall 9/10

Went in for a Ruby tattoo came out with a red box after she said she could simplify it. Dropped the needle on my mothers hand while she tattooing her. Not once did she wash her hands in between she just changed gloves.
