Pelican Tattoo & Body Piercing

First time here , came in for a frog eye piercing . Shop was clean , the appointment it’s self didn’t take too long, I like that walk ins are welcomed , Shawna was my piercer and she did an amazing job , quick and easy ❤️ I’ll write an update review in a few weeks on the healing process! But I’d def recommend this place :)

I went in a couple months ago to get my snake bite done. The lady didn’t even pierce me right me. the snake bite was so low tht at this point she might as well have pierce my chin. i double checked with her to be sure if it’s the right spot because it did not look right at all. the next day after getting it pierced i called the shop and asked if i can come in because i wanted it re pierced. one of the lady’s (the one tht didn’t pierce me) said the lady tht did pierce me wasn’t in but tht i can come in and wait for her so tht is what i did i walked all the way there n waited for abt an hr which is cool whatever. the lady tht did pierce me comes in and asks me wht i need i basically say if she can re pierce me bc its so low mind u a snake bite is a lip piercing it was not even CLOSE to my lip at all like i said before might as well have pierced my chin bc thts how low it was. anyway she took one look & told me tht is how a snake bite should look….then she told me show her a reference pic which i did and she said yea tht isn’t right & how she did it was correct and sent me on my way. i was so upset bc first it wasn’t even wht i wanted or placed correctly & she didn’t even offer to take it out for me cus i wasn’t pleased with it so i was stuck w this thing on my face tht i could not take off cus first it was freshly pierced so it hurt so bad to even move it and the ball of the snake bite was tightly screwed on. my mom saw me really upset and she too said tht wasn’t pierced correctly and it looked weird. so my mom called the shop and told them the situation again and i guess the lady tht answered remembered me and said something disrespectful in spanish to the other lady annoyed tht my mom called i guess she didn’t think my mom heard her but my mom did and she started arguing with my mother…. i was in total shock because tht is so unprofessional to do like tht is the worst experience ever with a piercer i’ve experienced . i went to another piercing shop i told them my situation and they took out the one the other shop did and re pierced me on the other side exactly where i wanted it and it actually looked like a lip piercing and even changed my vertical labret tht i already had pierced to a shorter bar which was so nice of them & they charged me so cheapto do all tht. anyway yea it’s been a couple months and my snake bite tht i got done at another shop healed beautifully !! no thanks to pelican.

I got my septum pierced here. I called and Shawna answered the phone. She was very professional and answered all my questions. She said she had time available so I went right down to the shop and she took care of me. The shop was very clean and sanitary. When you have your septum pierced there are two choices of nose rings or septum rings. One is larger than the other. I happened to go with the smaller of the two and boy was that a big mistake. The ring barely came out the bottom of my nostrils and it was very tight up against my septum or the middle part of my nose at the bottom where you see the ring. In my case you could barely see the ring and it was so tight after having it on front Wednesday to Saturday it was cutting into my nose and it was very uncomfortable and painful. I called the shop and the owner answered the phone. He was a very nice gentleman. I explained my situation and I asked him if I could have the septum ring changed to the larger one. He told me to come right on down to the shop and he’d have Iris change it for no charge. Shawna wasn’t in that day so the other girl Iris did it. So I went down and they both agreed that the ring was way too tight so we went ahead and Irish took out the small one and put the larger ring in and wow what a world of a difference. It wasn’t Shawna’s fault that the small one made me uncomfortable. I’m the one who chose the smaller one but anyways everything got fixed and I was so happy that they didn’t charge me because I was broke!! I had no money at all. So overall my experience with the whole shop was wonderful. Shawna explained to me how to clean it and she gave me some sea salt to take home. Sea salt is the best thing to clean nose rings. The owner was awesome. What a great experience I had. Everyone was so nice. I definitely recommend this place if you’re looking to get a piercing of any kind. They do them all. They are also better with their prices. For me it was $65 out the door. As far as prices for other piercings I’m not sure, but for the septum it was $65. I think that’s great. That includes the ring also. Then I gave her a tip. My second visit for the correction was free of charge. I’m going back there and I’m recommending them to my friends who want piercings.

Would have given a zeroI’ve been coming here for years to get piercings. I recently went to get snake bites Shana the lady who pierces pierced my tounge and didn’t have the right jewelry piece to put it. When I got home my tounge was swollen not only because of the pain which is expected but she put the wrong size ring ! I went back and she made a plastic retainer too long for my mouth because again she didn’t order the correct size. This cheap substitute caused my mouth to pour blood through the piercing . I returned to the shop and requested another ring she charged me $15 for another ring that was not suitable as well. Smh that night I end up taken out the ring because I begin to get little bubbles from the piercing due to wrong size. My piercing wasn’t even in a week before I had to take it out .When I went in she was very nasty about it the other lady noticed how the ring looked and was very concerned. She needs to retire she use to be good but now careless super dissapointed and will never come here again

I just did my first piercing and it was a stud in the nose.!! Was super nervous but once I got into the room to get my nose done.. The lady there and I’m really sorry I forgot her name. I am so glad she was the one that did my first piercing.. because she was so calming it made me feel very relaxed.!!The service was excellent.. everything was clean and showed to me before doing anything.. I totally recommend going there again.!!!

I got my navel pierced here a couple days ago and trust me it’s the best experience getting my body pierced. Shawna was amazing, she really made me felt at ease through the whole experience. She was very informative went through every details with me what to expect and how to clean my piercing. Will be getting more piercings here.

Tried on 3 occasions to get information on pricing on a tattoo that I wanted, first I called on a Friday and was asked to come on the following day to get information from the tattoo artist. Got there the next day and the tattoo artist was busy but the lady upfront gave me a SWAG of 200 bucks but she mentioned to come back the following Saturday to get the tattoo done. So I again called the following Friday and again was reassured that the tattoo artist was going to be there but to come early as it was first come first served. I again did as directed, got there on the time I was asked to, and to my surprise, the tattoo artist decided to call out and the two ladies upfront thought that was hilarious for whatever reason. So I decided to give Visual Expressions in East Hartford a call, i went right over and met the tattoo artist, gave me a solid price, and today I finally got my tattoo done. Go to Visual Expressions, they seem to care more about their business.

Got my daughter sebtum pierced and I love it the lady that works their is so good I highly recommend her!! Shauna is her name .She made us feel welcomed I give her 5 star also the owner is great too. This will be my forever go too for piercings

Had a tattoo done here. The man who did it told me to come back if it needed touching up if I noticed something that needed fixing. I went back about 1-2 weeks later and the tattoo artist was no longer there. I explained to the owner/ management why I was there after spending over $350 and he said theres nothing he could do and told me the guy wasnt there anymore and I might be able to find him in New Britain. Showed him the tattoo and receipt they laughed like it was a joke then said such and such must of did that. I was shocked!

So I went here a few years ago and I got a tattoo and at first I thought the tattoo was OK I didn’t think it was a little bit overpriced because it was $100 for some cursive handwriting. But now realizing that the tattoo artist went too deep because the tattoo has not healed correctly. Not to mention they never answer the phone and they always try to rush you off the phone when you’re inquiring about tattoos and prices. Would not recommend going back to them.

I had gotten a name tattooed on my left arm about 15 years ago back when joe the body piercer was still there and they charged me 60$ for it which is not bad of a price so recently went a few months ago and they have new staffs and i asked them how much will it cost to cover it Up 3 black stripes over it and they wanted to charge me 250$ im like i only paid 60$ to get it done a longtime ago, there prices are ridiculous too high so i refused.

I made an appointment, which didnt work out (an in-shop miscommunication that resulted in my waiting for an hour), but once my tattooist got freed up, things went swimmingly. I had brought the piece I wanted to have done, and he consulted with me to make sure it was how I wanted it. He was knowledgeable, thorough, clean, and did an excellent job. And inexpensive, which isnt a consideration, particularly, but a nice surprise. Im going back for more work.

The ladies there were very nice & helpful!very informative unlike other places I’ve been to. 10/10 recommend

Recently got pierced here, love the clean areas, was made really comfortable since my piercing made me really nervous. Had an issue with the bare bell being to short was fixed no issues. Will be getting more piercings from here.

Ive gotten 9 piercings done at Pelicans and will continue to come here. They are very clean and friendly, I would recommend them for piercings. As for tattoos, I got my first one done here and the girl messed up the line work. I hear Josh is excellent, but the other artists are a hit or miss.

Im never one to leave good reviews I always leave bad reviews for places to warn others but I went and got a medusa piercing and the piercer was amazing and I will definitely be back to get more piercings highly recommend getting piercings done here

Went in and got a tongue piercing a while ago. Had no problems at the time, the lady was very clean and polite and explained the process. However, my tongue ring is WILDLY off center. I was told at the time that it was because I had too many veins in the bottom of my tongue, so my piercing would be a little off center (what the woman told me word for word). Went to another piercer in Manchester to recieve my snake eyes and was told that my tongue was perfectly fine and could have been pierced normally, and the woman who pierced me actually put the needle and the jewelry through crooked, so my piercing is slanted. Spoke with other poeple who came to Pelican for piercings and all had similar experiences with bad piercings or messed up tattoos. Dont feel like going through the recovery process again so I wont be getting my tongue re pierced. I wont say this is a bad shop because Im sure theyve done good work, just not on me.

First of all I got a tattoo from Martin and it’s trash it’s done way too dark the detail is not specific and it’s horrible. I will not recommend them at all if I could sue them I would. Very unsanitary I hope my tattoo doesn’t end up infected as it’s already a black mess. Do not use that tattoo artist and I repeat do not use him. I should’ve known when they only except cash that it was going to be a problem

Went in today with my other half and I showed him what art work I wanted and what my significant other wanted and he captured what we wanted to the t. Josh my guy you a beast bro thank you from me and my girl for the amazing tattoo. Definitely coming back!

Gets packed be on time been going here since I was a kid be respectful and act lik an adult should be st8 the 2 females do most of the piercings u can walk in but tattoos u should and it would be wise 2 schedule an appointment

I got a tattoo done at Pelican recently by Rick. I wasnt happy with the service or results. I liked his concept of what I wanted to get done, but his follow-through was off. He talked a really good game, and gave me a drawing I liked. He pretty much FAILED at everything else.The application of the tattoo was a a nightmare. He told me I had deep skin and practically stabbed me with the needle. When I told him his needle pressure was too intense, he seemed to pick a sore spot and continue to dig deep, making it more uncomfortable/painful for me. The tattoo came out so/so. Some of the lines were sloppily drawn and it didnt include minute details I had expected, not to mention paid for. When I confronted him about it, both he and the manager got extra defensive and accused me of haggling. By then, I was just so fed up and embarrased that I spent my hard earned dollars, only to get a mediocre tatt.At best, the Pelican crew is just barely keeping their heads above water and trying to make a few bucks tattooing and piercing. At worst, they are sadistic, talentless scumbags who might be better off illustrating bad comics. There is a reason there are no recent reviews for Pelican, because I can guarantee theyd be AWFUL but TRUE. BEWARE, think twice before you give these guys your service!!

I don’t have experience but these prices are too high, i asked for the price of a nose ring and they said it’s $50! I could get my nose done for $10 somewhere else and they might do it 2x better.

Went and got a tattoo done here today by Josh he did a very awesome job I will recommend Pelicans to anybody I was so in love with my first rose on my shoulder but when I decided to get my second one done Josh out blew my mind with it now his Rose is the best one well be coming back to see him very soon

I got my belly button and double nose piercings here, and while they healed nicely, they’re both crooked ..

Sweet staff but unsanitary and made my ear piercing uneven after multiple tries unfortunately. also didnt offer any aftercare advice.

New ladies keep closing their shop early, they haven’t stayed open until 7 for quite some time which is causing loss of service on their end. They also overbook people on certain days roughly around their old closing time which was 7.

Best tattoo shop thus far !! Was satisfied with the work done by Rick , no problems . Also very cool comfortable environment. You wont be unsatisfied.

Pelicans is the only place i trust with my piercings ! i dont know how many times i have gone there after other piercing shops have messed up my piercings, pelicans always fixes other people mistakes! the owner joe is amazing

Very terrible customer service. I called to inquire about their services and they left me on hold for over 15 minutes and never came back to the phone. It was simple questions I wanted answered before I came in but all you could here is everyone talking in the background with not a care to answer my damn questions. But hey....I shouldn’t have expected more considering where this business is located.

I had an appt. for 4:30pm. Never got a call. i waited an hour to find out they took MORE people that came after me before me. I was parked in front waiting for nothing.

Shawna is the bombbb ! Was very clean & changed her gloves In everything she did. Made me aware of everything she was doing & made me comfortable.

Told me to show up for a tattoo at 10 am its 1130 am and nobody is here and nobody showed up. Gee thanks if it was an emergency thats a different story. But this was a bummer really
