Brian Allen has done all of my art for 25+ years and I love his work and trust his opinions on anything I have questions about going in.He is also a kind and genuine person to be around! Today he gave me the three pieces in black. The rest have been done over the years. The horse is a work in progress. I highly recommend High Caliber and Brian! Can’t beat the service or the prices!

Being an animal lover is not for the faint of heart. They will absolutely love you unconditionally. They will comfort you in your time of need. Give you joy out of no where. Make you laugh for no reason. But then... they will leave you. They will cross over that rainbow bridge to find their peace or to relieve their pain. The hole they leave in our hearts is bigger then we would have thought. The pain of loosing a pet/ best friend hurts more then imagined.I know Hero is at peace. He is no longer suffering. He can breath without an oxygen tank, but grieving him has been really hard. 6 years was not enough!Brian Allen has helped with the process! He provided me with a high quality tattoo of my cats actual paw print. He talked with me about my cat during the session. My appointment was at 8 and I left my 820. That was with the added lettering at the last minute. I have several tattoos but this was my first by him. His hand was light to me. I barely felt the tattoo. 10 out of 10 I definitely recommend! Gordon is a very good tattoo artist and he is a person with a lot, a lot of patience, he is attentive to your needs and makes you feel comfortable. He is very nice. Its very clean and tidy establishment.

My husband and I walked into High Caliber yesterday just hoping to talk to someone about the cost of a tattoo I wanted and to set up an appointment. We met Brian Allen; he did not have a client at the moment. What I wanted was a simple tattoo and Brian took a look; said he could do it right then, drew something out and within 10-15 I have exactly what I wanted. I told him I knew it was simple and he said back to me, “it doesn’t matter how simple or complex as long as the client leaves happy that’s all that matters to me”. Brian was such pleasant man, knew what he was doing and you can tell he cares about what he does. Thank you Brian, I will be returning to upgrade another tattoo I have and will be recommending you to all my friends and family.

Brian was absolutely amazing to work with on my first tattoo! He got me in the day after I called, talked me through the pros and cons of what I wanted, was patient and explained what he was doing during the tattoo and explained exactly how I should take care of it to heal. I called for a touch up about a month after and again he worked me in immediately and was great through the whole process. I would definitely recommend High Caliber and Brian, I’ll be back for sure!

I went and had my second tattoo with Brian and he is a true, humble man of God. I have lost my husband back in July and he done my first one and i went back today and got the second. He prayed for me and also took time out of his morning to talk to me and if i needed anything to please contact him. He takes his time and does exactly what you want and doesnt rush getting it done. The shop is very professional and so clean. If you ever want to get a tattoo i would defiantly recommend Brian. He is a great person and enjoys making others happy.

We had a three family vacation in Black Mountain. It was hard to find a tattoo place with availability during our four days. Brian at High Caliber was very nice a professional when dealing with last minute of walk ins. He was booked all day, but made time to fit all six of us in. We didn’t ask for major artwork and it was two of our groups first tattoos. All six of us took a total of 2.5 hours to process. We really appreciate Brian and High Caliber for this great establishment. Thank you Brian for completing a memorable trip for us.

This was my 2nd time here - the 1st time, I took my oldest son & we both got tattoos; the 2nd time I came by myself & got my outer conch pierced... I absolutely love the atmosphere of the shop; the employees (our tats were done by Mike Rooster Pace & my piercing was done by the other Mike) are awesome; & the quality of work done @ High Caliber is beyond measure!! Am new to NC, checked out alot of portfolios when I came across Gordons. His style was just what I was looking for. I picked out a tattoo I wanted back in September and looked into where some good shops and artists were located. I asked around, and EVERYONE recommended High Caliber. I called ahead to see when a good time was and stopped in around 5. Lucky for me, Brian Allen was in. This was my first tattoo on the outside of my left foot, a very sensitive area. I brought a friend along for moral support. Brian was a very nice guy who talked me through the whole thing and made me feel very welcome. The shop was spotless. Brian did an awesome job creating a beautiful mountain range on my foot and Im so glad I chose this tattoo shop!

Ive had all three of my tattoos done at High Caliber and I am happy with every single one of them. My most recent tattoo was done by Brian Allen. I walked in with an idea in mind and he immediately drew it up and I was completely happy with the design he created. I felt very comfortable and at ease throughout the whole process. Brian goes out of his way to make sure you are getting the tattoo that you want. I dont think I will ever go anywhere else for a tattoo because of how much I enjoy the work done by Brian. Enlisted Mike Pace to do a coverup of an old tattoo. He did not disappoint. An almost half back piece drawn freehanded--a true artist! Talented, professional, efficient, kind, and entertaining (those last two come in handy at the three hour mark). The studio is immaculate. Cleaner than most medical offices. Thought this was a one and one, but I will be back.

You know not only the quality of his work because of artistry but also by the clean environment.I have received other tattoos by various artists and always scab or not heal correctly. With Brian Allen at High Caliber I dont scab and the work is solid (literally). It doesnt fade or heal so that the color fades. I will for sure be back for more. Then more after that!

Absolutely beautiful work! I had the pleasure of Cody Reed to design and apply my tattoo! Im in love with it! Way beyond all expectations/ dream of my tattoo! A total of 9 hours, in 2 sittings, and its one of the most beautiful tattoos Ive ever seen! I will definitely be back soon to have 2 tattoos merged into one! I have no doubt that Cody will bring 2 beautiful pieces into one breath- taking masterpiece!

I just got my left cartilage pierced and I have a lot to say about this place. First of all it was recommended to my by one of my local friends. So let me just say thank god for that! If I could give this establishment more than five stars I would give them a 10 star experience and deliverance of expectations. When I walked through the door despite never meeting anyone on staff they knew EXACTLY who I was and made me feel like family immediately. Brian was my tattoo artist and was very patient as he created a masterpiece, while small, that meant the world to me. As a first time tattoo recipient I could not have asked for a better experience. I drove over four hours for my small masterpiece and it was worth every mile to have the quality not only in the product but the service friendliness and compassion I received from not only Brian but every member on staff while I was in thier establishment. I even have the opportunity and privilege of being able to fulfull unplanned my want to have my nose pierced by Kelly while I was there for my tattoo and She was absolutely amazing. Having had my nose pierced two other times in my life, this was by far the most painless and easiest process I have ever been through for a body piercing. Why anyone would go anywhere else in Hendersonville for a tattoo or piercing is beyond my comprehension. Thank you for a wonderful first time experience.

I did not take getting a tattoo lightly - its not like you can change your mind OR do it right the next time. Plus, Id made it almost 50 years without one! So I did my research and chose Brian Allen & High Caliber to do the work. When you do a little background work you find Tattoo art is just like any other art, theres good and theres bad but the difference is you carry it with you pretty much forever! I chose Brian based on unanimous recommendation, research and when I met him - knew he was the right guy. Bottom line, he and his staff are gifted professionals.....emphasis on professional.

I got lucky yesterday when I walked in wanting a price on a small silhouette piece and Cody Reed was able to do it right then for me due to a last min change from a previous customer appointment. Cody was very friendly, clean, professional and does GORGEOUS work. 10/10 I would recommend to anyone wanting quality affordable work done that youll love for the rest of your life! I am wanting come come back in a couple of weeks in hopes that Cody can continue on some sleeve work I started 2 years ago. I saw a hand drawn photo hanging in his space that would look gorgeous with the lily and butterfly work I already have done on my upper arm. Super excited and I can not wait!

I’ve never had a body piercing other than my ears, but I went in March 2020 for a nose piercing. I told myself if I ever got another piercing, I would go back there. Mike, who pierced my nose and done my current tongue ring, was very professional and courteous. Even the atmosphere in there has a professional presentation, which I feel, is very important. The establishment is very clean and very well maintained. I would highly recommend them to anyone for piercings.

These guys have been doing my tattoo work for 20 years! Brian is the best... hands done I cant thank him enough for making my dream a reality! Hes very easy to talk to and will make sure everything is perfect. The best way to go about it is to give him at least a a week-a few days before your appointment or for him to do some research and or to draw out what you want done, especially if its custom. That way he has more time to blow your mind with the temp! If for some reason you want to edit or change something that gives him more time to perfect it and yall arnt scrambling for time!

I cant speak highly enough of this place. I got a daith piercing while on vacation, and when I got home I realized it was healing improperly. I reached out and they saw me the next morning. Mike took a look, got the piercing reopened, and found me a proper earring. I was in and out in ten minutes, and charged less then I was expecting. I was impressed with the cleanliness, promptness, and overall friendliness of the staff. Especially since I got it pierced somewhere else, cant brag about them enough. Thank you guys!

He took a big black blob that was supposed to be a black panther and transformed it into an amazing work of art. Decided to get some lettering ink done on my forearm. My son had work done at HCCT so I went for it. Through the luck of the draw I got Katie. SHE IS THE BEST!! She gave me some suggestions on a couple changes but went along with what I wanted. Its absolutely perfect! She was friendly, kind and most importantly, damn good at her job. Yesterday was my birthday and I wanted to get a special tattoo. My search to find an available artist lead me to High Caliber Custom Tattoos. I called ahead to see if anyone would be available and the guy was so easy going and agreeable and said Sure. Come on in. So I did. I spoke to one guy (Brian) when I walked in. REAL nice guy but he was leaving so he directed me to another guy. THIS guy was Mike, the shop owner. My experience was flawless. His touch is very gentle. It felt like he was drawing on my skin with a ballpoint pen. Mike also made my girlfriend and me feel like we already knew him he was so easy to talk to. An added bonus was High Caliber was cheaper than anywhere else i had priced, and working with Mike was a breeze. Guy is a mindreader :) What made me even call was when I read on the website that I would not find a cleaner shop in WNC. I kind of have a thing for clean and I do doubt I will find a cleaner shop. Definitely will go back.

Katie Montes is by far one of the best artists I have seen on this side of the Mason Dixon line. She has done work on my husband a few times in the past few years. I have yet to get work by her myself, but I know judging by the work Ive seen that I would be honored to have her artistry on my body for the rest of my life. Not only is she talented, she is very professional and shows alot of passion in her work.The very first time I had an artist there do some work on a tattoo that needed much needed maintenance, I was in tears because of how beautifully it turned out and because of how sentimental the piece was.Every time I have been asked who to go see for some fresh ink, I always recommend High Caliber. They are well worth the travel.

Went wanting a wolf portrait and ended up with a cartoon wolf. Paid very dearly out of pocket for it. Do not recommend going here unless you want your tattoo to be cartoonish. Very dissatisfied with the work I had done. Will probably cost me thousands to have it covered and corrected to actually look like a portrait and not a joke

I had a cover up tattoo done by Mike and he did an amazing job you can’t see the old tattoo at all and he put everything I asked in to the new tattoo. He was very professional and now I have to get my other tattoos touched up bc this tattoo that he did makes all the other ones look bad. I would HIGHLY recommend him to do any tattoo but especially a cover up because he can make your old tattoo disappear.

High Caliber Tattoos was pretty awesome. My friend and I had been wanting to get helix piercings for a long time and finally found a place in our area that had decent hours. I called ahead of time and was greeted by a nice lady who answered some of my questions about their piercing procedures and encouraged me to stop by any time -- no appointments needed.We arrived later that night to a place full of people, but were greeted by the piercer almost immediately. She had us fill out an agreement form and then led us to a private room.The lady was very kind and took great care in making sure she had marked the exact area I where wanted my piercing. The whole procedure was very sterile and fast with surprisingly minimal amounts of pain (They use piercing needles, not guns. I think the needles decrease the amount of pain).My only two complaints are 1) The options of what we could put in our ears were very limited. We got the choice of either a 14 Guage or 16 Guage ring.And 2) We received no printed information or ear cleaning solutions (I dont think the shop sold any solutions). We DID bomb her with questions though, and she gave us all the answers we needed. So I guess this is only half a complaint. Printed information and cleaning solution would have been the cherry on top of a wonderful piercing experience.Also, if anyone is curious, helix piercings are $40 for a single, and $70 for a double.Definitely a great place and I highly recommend it.
