Walked in and got greeted by everyone. Autumn in particular is a fantastic artist. I’d follow her talent anywhere. All the people in there are awesome but she does what she does with pride and won’t have you walking out with regret. Instead, you’ll be wanting more work done because of her professionalism and skill. Autumn rocks and the people at steel rod already know it. So you should find out for yourself.

Autumn is the artist I chose, Spectacular work! Treated me right, very detailed, she has a customer for life for sure, over all shop experience was great, all of the artist a great good environment & vibe!

Had a great experience with SaltNPepper getting my nose and my medusa piercing today! Walked in and got me in and out in no time. Was efficient and knowledgeable. Told me exactly how to take care of my new piercings.

Ive been going to Steel Rod for quite a few months now. Bex (tattoo artist and septum piercer) is my main tattoo person there but all of them are extremely talented. Jimmy (piercer) had pierced my 2nds on my lobes and helex. He has also pierced my friends nostrils and lobes. Ive never had a bad or negative experience in all of my visits. Their artist are extremely kind and will always have you laughing. Most importantly this is one of the most professional shops Ive been to. From how they take in a new customer and pair them with the most suited artist. To making sure the customer knows all the after care and maintaining of all work thats done.These pictures are just an insight of Bexs work on me and my friend.

Got both of my tattoos here. They take hygiene and customer satisfaction very seriously. Everyone there is super friendly and accommodating! I highly recommend!!

I got snakebites and one of the piercings was pierced through the top of my lip and the other was in the correct place. i had to take out the one that went through my lip, and now have to wait for that side to heal so i can get it repierced. all would be fine and dandy but it was so obvious that it wasn’t in the correct spot because it was sticking straight up and the other was just sitting perfectly. $120 down the drain

Had my tattoo done by Eric. It was my first ever tattoo, but it was genuinely everything I could have asked for it turned out exactly how I wanted it. I absolutely will be coming back.

Baby D did my tattoo and it was so quick I didnt feel anything. She drew up exactly what I wanted and it was all and all an amazing experience

Ive been here two Friday the 13th days. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. Both trips I had great tattoo artists. My 16 year old was introduced to the world of tattoos here today. The young woman was amazing and as gentle as one can be (hahaha) and made his experience memorable. My ghost holding a red balloon tattoo is adorable. See you next Friday the 13th

Salt and Pepper was the nicest guy! He pierced my daughters ears and couldnt have made it easier! He walked her through the whole process! To top it all off, it was super affordable! Overall a great experience. We will be back for all our piercing needs! 🫶

After a week of trying to find someone that does a daith piercing and other piercers cancelling appointments, we found this place and salt and pepper was able to get us right in! He was super professional and did a great job, explaining everything along the way. It’s an hour drive but will definitely be back

I was there recently to get a tattoo done. Tattoo came out nice however the tattoo artist did not follow instructions. None of my tattoos have shading on them plus i gave him a picture of exactly what i wanted done. He did not follow it, he added shading when i specificly said no shading where now my tattoos do not match at all, he changed up the design as well with the shapes being off, last part he did not put any ointment on it and or plastic wrap to protect it. I had to drive out of my way to the nearest walmart to get the stuff i need to wrap it up.

So me and my daughter decided to get our nose pierced today, which was my second time here but different location. Salt and pepper hands down the absolute best. As soon as we walked in he greeted us and as soon we finished up our paperwork we were walking to back. My daughter was kind of scared but salt and pepper personality and warm welcome made her feel better about getting her nose pierced, he’s hilarious by the way and we were in and out in 10 minutes satisfied and happy with our new nose piercing. I can’t wait to go back for a new tattoo I know I would love the work. Thanks Steel Rod and Salt and pepper. 🫶🏾

OMG this was one of the best piercing sessions I’ve ever had with any tattoo shop. My friends and I came to visit from Ohio and different parts of Indiana. We decided to be dare devils and get piercings so we checked reviews around and chose steel rod and we are so thankful that we did because it was an inviting atmosphere. We had so much fun so much laughter with the piercer and other tattoo artist. salt and pepper performed our piercings and it made it go so smooth just having someone that was patient and understanding he made us laugh the entire time and made us feel very comfortable. You can tell he loves what he does. I will definitely be back again if I visit Indianapolis. Choose here you won’t regret it at all

I loved it here! I’m 21 going on 22 and have never had a piercing done, not even once. I was always too afraid and have SUCH a low pain tolerance that I held myself back. Salt and Pepper talked me through everything when I suddenly decided to just go for it one day! I just got normal ol’ ear lobe piercings, but he still super thorough with everything and put me at ease. He didn’t dismiss my fearful feelings either! The piercing turned out wonderfully and it wasn’t painful at all! Soooo simple! I’ll definitely come back and bring my friends!

Firstly, everyone at this shop has good vibes. That put me, my sis, and mom at ease. Then we meet Jimmy (Salt & Pepper) … an AMAZING HUMAN! He is so hilarious and cares a lot about his clients. His constant jokes and larger than life personality keep you comfortable and erases the anxiety. My sister got a Monroe piercing and I got a vertical labret. Couldn’t be happier.

I had a great time getting my helix double pierced yesterday! They also did really awesome job piercing my girlfriends nipps! The staff is really nice and down to earth, and hilarious! The place is really clean and neat! All around professional establishment, and they know their stuff! Thank you Steel Rod 10/10 recommend!!

Called in at 8:03PM (they closed at 9) and asked if they had time to do a nose piercing. A guy answered “Absolutely. Come on in.” Super friendly from the start. Got there about ten minutes later and Richie got me started on paperwork and he got things set up. He was friendly, efficient and gave his opinion in a professional manner (great advice too). Great placement, quick piercing with minimal pain and didn’t even bleed! Great pricing too. While I was there I asked about a tattoo and he was stoked about my idea and gave some advice. I definitely will be back for my tattoo.

I have been coming here for years and won’t go anywhere else!!! I had 4 of my piercings done in the last couple of months by Jimmy and he is freaking awesome!!! I’m going back to get another piercing done and yes, Jimmy will be doing it. Absolutely love this shop. I’ve had a tattoo done here as well by Richie and he did an amazing job. Salt and pepper was awesome! Very pleasant and funny. Got both of my lobes pierced and didn’t feel any pain. It’s about a hour later and there’s no redness/tenderness!

Jimmy did an awesome job piercing 2 adults and 1 minor! He was great at making our 9 year old feel comfortable and not so nervous about getting her ears pierced. He got all of us in and out in less than an hour and was very professional and calming.

First off I just want to say that I will 100% be coming back to Steel Rod in the future for my tattoo & or piercing needs. I came here to get a septum piercing, but was told I couldn’t get it because the area was too small & I appreciated the honesty because some people would have just taken my money and went on with it. I ended up getting just a regular nose piercing from Jimmy & he was very professional and he kept it real with me about my other nose piercings and what I should and should not do when it comes to them. I had never walked into Steel Rod before, but just off of this 1 encounter alone I will be coming back. I have gotten all my piercings from the same place before this one and had never gotten the advice and tips that I got from Jimmy about taking care of them (which I should have been getting all along). I appreciate Jimmy & Steel Rod for not just being about the money, but for actually caring about their clients.

My friends and I visited from Colorado for a conference. Salt and Pepper was extremely knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable immediately!! We highly recommend and by far the BEST piercings ever!!!!

If I could rate this this place 10 stars I would. I called for an appointment and the staff were able to get me in same day. The prices are phenomenal. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. This wasn’t my first piercing but It was my first at this shop and they definitely made my septum piercing as painless as can be. AND great after care instructions. Definitely coming back to this place for all my future piercings.

Went with a friend to get piercings. There was one guy working and some girls waiting to get tattoos I believe (it was a Sunday). He was nice and quickly got us signed in (paperwork). We waiting maybe 5 min and he took us back. Took him 10 min to do all 3 piercings (I got 2). Will definitely be going back for more! Thanks Eric!

I absolutely love Steel Rod Tattoo. Ive had three of my piercings done here so far, and I have nothing but raving reviews for each time. The most recent time I got my nipples pierced (70$) and my girlfriend got two Helix piercings (40$ each). I was very nervous at first but my worries faded the second I stepped into the shop. It was a quick, fun, and great experience. Cant wait to head back in for my next!

Went to get my navel pierced by Jimmy with my sister yesterday!!! He was super amazing!!! I loved his personality and his energy he gave off !!!!!! The staff was amazing , so friendly , prices were great and they were extremely professional !!!! I definitely recommend ! I probably won’t go to any other piercings shops after my experience at steel rods !!!! This tattoo/piercing shop definitely is the place to go for sure !!!!!

My girlfriend went here on Friday the 13th for a nose piercing special and had a terrible experience. First the jewelry was loose in a drawer and then placed on a paper towel and sprayed with something; not sterile. My girlfriend was also apprehensive about the placement and the guy Salt and Pepper just ended up piercing it anyway in a place she wasnt happy with, at a weird angle. Third, the price listed in the ad was $25 but she ended up with a $31 total plus a tip.Now almost 3 weeks later, after taking care of the piercing diligently, shes had a different piercing shop recommend she take it out as its swolen and infected.We expected better since this place seems to be highly rated, but our experience was awful.

Got my very first piercing done Saturday and it was an amazing experience. They were clean. Sanitized stations before and after and used all new material and equipment. I was scared but the guy comfort me the whole time and it was fast, before I could blink,jump,or anything I was done. I’ll definitely be back for my second piercing

I walked in for an impulse piercing 7 minutes before they closed & they were so willing to take me! Everyone there will tell you straight up how much a piercing or tattoo will hurt & honesty is the best. Not painless because of where I got my piercing but super quick so the pain didn’t last long. Will definitely be back for impulse piercings!

I had a slightly negative experience while attempting to get my nose piercing at another shop. A friend of mine recommended Steel Rod so we drove over and I immediately felt comfortable. The shop was very clean, tidy and inviting. Biggins gave me my piercing which was super quick, easy and 50% less expensive than the other shop I had gone to. Not only was he a great piercer, but he was polite and friendly as well as obviously knowledgeable about his craft. 5 stars all the way!

Went in to get my daughters second piercings and he was very good with her. He even corrected her first piercings because they werent level. Thanks to Salt & Pepper for the patience and kindness with us.

Salt & Pepper pierced my tragus and helix in both ears. I was nervous but he made me feel really comfortable by talking to me and playing music. Hes a funny guy and I would recommend him to anyone who needs a piercing.

I got my nipples pierced here a few days ago, and while thats an innately terrifying experience, these guys made me feel 100% more comfortable. The inside was very clean and had a cool retro vibe. Will definitely be returning for and future piercings and possibly for tattoos.

Acted like they didnt have the time to do a piercing while 4 people stand around and talked. ****Edit **** was contacted by owner after posting review offered discount to return to the shop. Whole thing was we waited 20 minutes to find out they couldnt get it done. Walked in another shop and had it done in 5 minutes. Not worth making a appointment if they can not do the service.

I got my belly button pierced by one of the staff members during the summer and it was amazing. I ended up having to take it out and a few months later had my friend try to repierce it. She did it very wrong and my piercing was noticeably crooked. I went back to steel rod and they were able to repierce me again with no problems. It was quick and done to perfection. Also their set up is very cool and clean. Will definitely be returning.

I went for their Halloween flash sale and the wait was totally worth it! Bex ended up doing my tattoo and she was amazing! She made the tattoo quick and, I’m sure, as painless as possible haha! Great environment and staff!

Been here twice, once for a tattoo and the second time for a piercing and both experiences were great

Havent been there but I called. Spoke to the guy who does septum piercings and he seemed confused and didnt explain well about the piercing. He told me to used daily soap which I was told by many not to and to use piercing saline or sea salt water. He said it wasnt recommended. Dial soap from what I thought dries it out and causes irritation. He was also stuttering upon my questions like he didnt know what he was talking about. I didnt feel safe and assure of getting it done or comfortable enough.

Jimmy put pierced my helix in 3 places and my tragus all in a days work. He was very thorough, quick, and clean. He even used a pair of calipers to make sure my helix piercings were equally spaced apart which I thought was neat. Definitely knew what he was doing and really cares about his work.

Omg! Stopped in just to see if they would take a walk-in. They were ALL so friendly! I was able to get my piercing with no wait. Quick and easy! The tattoo work is splendid! If you need any piercings or tattoos done call them up!

Salt & Pepper was a funny, great guy to do my nose piercing. He made you feel comfortable, and gave you all the info you needed to get a successful piercing. I would go back.

I went in for a tattoo on my birthday 12/2/21. Dave is unfriendly and unprofessional. I explained to him the color of the sword (that he did) was too lite and it needs to be darker and he state it was nothing for him to do. I then asked him if can add more color or use a darker shade? He replied, I can’t do anything but I charge $100 HR. I stated ok, but I need to make sure I am getting what I am paying for. He cares about the money then a potential returning client/customer. He is someone I would NOT recommend to go to in Steel Rod tattoo.

Let me tell you if your looking for a tattoo shop that’s laid back, funny, and don’t pretend to be someone they’re not. Skylar was AWESOME wasn’t heavy handed, funny, and really cool. This place is good conversation, clean, and professional. The piercer is amazing and they’re all happy to help.

Only shop Ill use for tattoos and piercings. Eric has brought to life 4 of my tattoo ideas and they are exactly what I visioned! Cassi was awesome too. She listened carefully to my request and did a triple helix exactly how I always wanted it! My hubby got his first tat with Eric too and its amazing. Clean, friendly environment. I went in today to get a tattoo done by David after seeing him post it on Facebook. And boy was I not disappointed. Not only does it look amazing, but he is by far one of the best artists Ive ever seen. First of all, I got exactly what I thought I was going to get. Secondly, everyone in the shop was super professional. And lastly, most of the time, I forgot I was even getting a tattoo in the first place. David had a very soft hand.I will for sure be a repeat customer.

I called about a simple touchup job on a tattoo I had previously that was fading a little, but I will tell you- I would never go to this place. and I don’t recommend it either. I didn’t make it past the phone call without being treated rudely and was hung up on multiple times. The wannabe Paris Hilton princess they have answering the phones needs to realize she isn’t Paris— it’s a business. And you just lost. And ruined it for the rest of them. She was so putrid I would never get anything done there.

I forget the woman’s name who pierced my ears but she was very friendly. Everyone here was very friendly and helpful. It was very fast and pain was minimal. I will definitely go back if I plan on getting more piercings or getting my first tattoo.

So I came in here to inquire about my first tattoo. I was nervous and wanted to discuss my options. When I walked into the shop without an appointment might I add I was greeted immediately by Randy Willoughby. He listened to my questions and concerns, played with my ideas and brought to life exactly what I wanted on the computer for me to see. I was so impressed! So we scheduled an appointment for the next day. When I came in the next day still nervous, Randy had my tattoo sketch ready and he had personalized it a bit like we had agreed and it was amazing!! Shortly later he got to work on it. During the whole process he made me feel, calm relaxed and at ease while he worked on his piece of art on my shoulder. I wasnt even in the chair for 45 minute before he was completely done. Color and everything! The end result was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! I couldnt have asked for a better piece or a better experience! Randy truly is an amazing artist! The shop was very clean and neat and very professional!

The tattoo artist was very professional, nice, and patient . The overall vibe of the place was super welcoming and they take walk ins and make you feel very comfortable when you are getting a tattoo or piercing, I got both done here and both turned out very nice. The tattoo artist also makes sure you have the design and placement you want!!

Walked in one day to look at some flash and saw some Harry Potter flash that was really cool since both my wife and my sister love Harry Potter. I got the golden snitch on my family theme arm done by Dave and my wife got the sorting hat. We both love the end result. I got a second one done by Dave and just love it. I really love the work he does and had him draw a custom piece that ive been wanting and the final design he showed my was beyond my vision and cant wait to get the session booked to get it on. Definitely recommend steel rod

I really like this place. I have gotten several piercings here with no problems. The staff are nice. Yesterday I was there with my kids and they were also welcome. I also checked them out at the local health department and they hadnt had any violations.

I was super nervous first time but the guy there was super chill, nice and explained everything I forgot his name but he does the piercing for the nose. It felt like a pinch and hurt very minimal, Im actually happy I went to that place which is right around the corner from my house. I asked a lot of questions because Im annoying like that and they were nice.

First, I got a tattoo done here. It was poorly done and faded. I ended up going to another place that fixed it for me and touched it up. I remember the guy saying “yeah idk what they were thinking doing this on you but I’ll fix it!”I then recently came for my tragus piercing. The guy “Salt & Pepper” made insulting comments the entire time I was there. Everything was fine with my tragus piercing until I started to notice a piercing bump on it. I realize that these are fairly “common” to experience when having a cartilage piercing. I tried to wait it out in hopes that it would go away on its own. One night, I was cleaning my piercing with a q tip and the diamond completely fell out!! Causing my piercing to close up almost immediately! I now have a dark mark where the piercing once was & have to wait months for it to heal before getting it re pierced.I will never recommend this place & will be going to someone else for the re piercing.

I had came in here just off of a whim because I needed a horshoe replacement for my cartilage and was in the area shopping. I was a little hesitant because I pulled up and saw these two big white guys with huge beards siting outside, and there I was Black and bald headed. Needless to say, they were both really nice and cool! Timmie (assuming that was his name because the card on the receipt has his name) had the horshoe piercing ready in seconds AND put it in no charge. The horshoe was only $10 and I enjoyed the entire experience I was there. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable experience.

I am only rating a one cuz the guy was pretty cool. Three friends and I came here to get triple forward helix piercings. Botched job from start to finish. I only got 2 piercings done because I went last and 1. Saw the jewelry which legitimately looked like costume jewelry and 2. Saw how unevenly spaced both my friends piercing were. He put the blue dots first, to mark where he would pierce. Which looked great to me! Then after the piercings, he had me look at it again. I can see the blue dot where he intended to pierce the second hole. My friends and I only kept one and proceeded to go to metamorphesis for the rest of our piercings where they got the job right the first time with the right jewelry.

Went there directly off work and was able to get in quickly. My piercer (Totally forgot his name) was awesome! I definitely would recommend Steel Rod to everyone who wants a piercing!

I got an ear piercing and it was the best experience I’ve had thus far. Timmie was the one who did it all and he is amazing and makes you feel very comfortable. Very great place!

I went in to get my vertical labret pierced 3 weeks ago. The healing process was fine, but my piercing was crooked. I also noticed the gauge seemed very big compared to any other piercing I have had, or seen on other vertical labrets. I bought a new 16g curved barbell for my lip, and it was too small compared to my original jewelry. I then compared it to a 14g, still too small. So mine must have been pierced at a 12g, which seems way too big for a lip piercing. Everyone else I know that has a vertical labret says theirs was pierced at a 16g or 14g. I should have expected this considering I only paid $40 for it, but I do not recommend this place. I had very high hopes considering everyone in there was fun and kind, and all had piercings themselves.

SP is the BEST!!He did my left nostril and totally killed it!!!Made me comfortable like we were family!I went back the 2nd day to get my septum done and Eric was just as bomb as SP!!I would recommend to ANYONE

I got a Friday the 13th tattoo and absolutely love it, but my artist touched his phone multiple times and didn’t change gloves and that made me a little uneasy

They charged me $250 for 1 rose on the side of my neck that doesn’t even cover the whole side. I got the other side of my neck tatted in a different city and they did 2 very detailed roses for less. My husband said steel rod ripped me off for the work they did. Idk if I’ll even get anymore tats in Indy since ppl are con artists. And the artwork on my neck is not dope

I went it to change a piercing because the ball fell off and the guy put in a 14g instead of a 16g IN MY CARTILAGE! i’m furious, i payed 10 dollars for it and now my ear is 3x the size. Complete waste of money.
