Calaveras Tattoo Studio

Ive been to Calaveras a total of 3 times and everytime I have had 2-4 hour sessions. Every artist Ive dealt with here has been amazing to talk to and has done some amazing work. They are very friendly and approachable. The shop also has an ATM if you need to grab cash there.

Fernando did an awesome job on the behind the ear tattoos my wife and I got for our anniversary! He professional experience and chill attitude allowed us to connect. We will definitely be coming back to Calaveras in the future. The entire tattoo shop was very friendly and had great vibes throughout. I highly recommend setting up your next tattoo appointment at Calaveras!

Ness did an absolutely amazing job on my tattoo. I am so over the moon happy how it came out. He is very professional and extremely friendly. I would recommend anyone to come to this shop and get their own amazing work

Nose piercings are by appointment only but ask if they have availability the same day. My experience was easy and straight to the point. Very well priced.

Fernando did my piece and I couldnt have asked for a better artist. He took the idea I had and made it 10000 times better. Im absolutely obsessed with my tattoo. My husband passed away a few days ago so this was my memorial piece and I cried looking at how amazing it is. Thank you so so much Fernando for giving me this piece of him.

Finally a real standup tattoo artist and shop!! Calaveras is located on fort hood st. When you walk in they greet you and immediately consult about your tattoo/art ideas. Multiple shops in Waco/Dallas area all told me don’t place a tattoo on your ring finger. Ness came through in the clutch, he educated us on the pros and cons didn’t discourage us from the tattoo. Ness kept it 100 and gave us a deal for our ten year wedding anniversary. Highly recommend his skills and we’ll definitely be back, appreciate you Ness.

Miss Mac did a great job on piercing my hubs ears. She took an amazing amount of time to answer questions and make suggestions.When we talked about tattoos fixes and additions, she even got one of the artists to come talk with us as well.The place itself was clean.While not y he fault of the St u did, I do wish the sidewalk was wider and the door threshold was smoother for whee k chair crossing.

Got my very first matching tattoo with my older sister here and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Fernando is an amazing artist, was very patient and kind, everyone is so personable and makes you feel right at home. Great environment, and I’d love to come back for more in the future! Got my septum pierced here about a year back as well and it went so smoothly, they were very sanitized and kind. Couldn’t recommend them enough!!!

I went to get my smiley and tongue pierced, and the lady was so welcoming and nice. She also was very informational and told me all about the risks and my aftercare. I definitely will be back to get more. Plus you cant beat her prices!

I just had 2 piercings done and the piercer was the BEST. she was so sweet and informative, she made me so comfortable and she was super easy to talk to. one of the piercings i got was my right nostril (i have my left done as well) and she took her time to make sure they were exactly even! she even changed out my other nostril so they would match even more seamlessly. the guys in the shop were also really cool! they hung out and talked to me while she was setting up her station, and they were all super kind as well. 10/10 experience!! (also VERY reasonably priced, if you’ve ever had piercings done elsewhere, you know they can be pricey)

Walked in and spoke to the young lady named Nick, who was behind the counter. Told her what I wanted and she spoke with an artist, named Gil.Gil was able to incorporate what I wanted together and it became my tattoo.Thank you very much.

I got my third lobe piercing here, and it was AMAZING!! The lady who did it was so kind and quick and knew exactly what she was doing. They really payed attention to detail in placement and everything was extremely clean!!

I went with my sister here because of the high ratings I was coming in from out of the state to get a matching tattoo with my sister. The lady in the front desk was awesome and welcoming but the tattoo artist was horrible he kept talking about sexual things he did to women he made my sister and I uncomfortable. To make things worse my tattoo is infected and faded and I’m all the way in Illinois so I can’t even complain or ask for them to fix it.

Got my septum pierced by Nick and my mom and sister got their Daiths pierced. She was super quick, clean and organized. Highly recommend, especially if you’re new to piercings because she’s very knowledgeable and will help you if you need it.

Nick did an amazing job on my piercing and my daughters piercings today. She was quick and nearly pain free! We will definitely be back for more from her!

Wonderful experience getting my septum pierced here yesterday! The piercer was able to take me on the spot due to a cancelled appointment. The shop was clean and the piercer thoroughly explained the piercing procedure every step of the way and made me feel like I would look great with my new piercing. She also was clear about aftercare and what to expect. As for the procedure itself, she really made the piercing quick and virtually painless (2/10 on the pain scale for me). I absolutely love the look of my piercing and I’d recommend this place to anyone looking to get pierced!

Love the shop! The receptionist is super sweet, Ms.Nick does an amazing job with piercings, I’ve had 3 piercings by her. All were super quick , she’s very clean , a great listener and always makes sure you’re happy with placement before piercing. Also had great ink work done by Fernando! Definitely getting more work from him in the near future. I have my first appt with Gumby today but again he’s super nice and the shop hasn’t disappointed yet so I’m certain it’ll go great! 10/10 recommend this shop!

Definitely the best parlor I have ever been in. The staff is absolutely amazing, they have great personalities, on top of that, they do amazing art work. Wow, havent been in here in years. Bought my daughter in for a nose ring. The lady was very nice, professional and quick. She explained everything, took her time with my daughter, had a very neat, clean environment. Id definitely suggest this place if youre looking for a piercing. My artist isnt there anymore but check out the new guys, the photos inside look amazing.

Originally went in with my SIL while she got tattooed, ended up having Nick pierce me and have just gone back for more. Sweetest woman ever. Very quick, has tons of jewelry to choose from for healed pieces, 10/10 would recommend to everyone.

Came here for a left side nostril piercing. I have had quite a few facial and body piercings over the years, so I was extremely pleased with the quality of the piercing experience here. The piercer was fast with the needle, she made it a painless process and that I am thankful for. Their prices are very fair. Whole process from filling out paperwork and getting pierced was quick . She offered for me to come back if I need help at any time with either jewelry or the piercing itself. Great customer service! 10/10 would recommend 👍⭐

My first impression of the shop wasn’t a great one but regardless I gave it another shot when I decided to get a nose piercing. When I called the guy was really nice and made my appointment on the date and time I requested which I appreciated. On the day of my appointment I arrived on time and was greeted by the guy at the front desk and after he had me do paperwork he was just stuck on his phone while I awkwardly waited on the piercer. She was nice for the most part, not super personable but she had a professional demeanor. The piercing was quick and painless which I appreciated. Fast forward to a week or two later I saw I developed a bump. I followed the cleaning protocol she gave me but noticed it was getting worse and a bump formed inside my nose as well. After waiting it out for a few more days I finally called her to ask for guidance to which she said it could have been bumped and to clean the bump with tea tree oil. I tried it, waited some more days until I decided to get a second opinion. To make a long review shorter..I had to take out the piercing due to the severity of the bump. I wish rather than advising me over the phone the piercer would’ve asked me to come in to see the bump and not just assume what it was. I spent way too much to simply have to take it out.

I had been referred there by a bunch of friends for my belly button to get pierced. Nikki did a great job and was very pleased with her work. Clean shop and nice atmosphere. Great pricing too. Ive wanted to get my ears pierced for a long time! I went to Calaveras, one of the best experiences Ive ever had! The stafe is amazing theyre sweet, understanding, down to earth, real, and honest! The establishment was one of the cleanest Ive seen, the floor was basically a mirror. Im planning to go back for my second lobe piercing on both ears, when I got my first lobe piercings I didnt feel a thing. My piercer was brilliant at her job, she didnt even have to tell me her years of experience, you could just tell by the way she started talking she knew what she was talking about. All-round step up experience that I hope you can experience yourself! Cant wait to come back!!

I recently got my septum re-pierced here and the woman did an amazing job. I can’t remember her name but she was super sweet yet professional. Really helped ease my nerves. Also, gave me super helpful advice on another piercing I already had. Will definitely be going back in the future.

First time I went in randomly without appointment, they made space for me to do a nose piercing. The staff was very nice. Nick answered my questions. She pierced my nose and husbands brow. We went back to get snake bites later and she took the time to make sure they were even and how we wanted. Definitely recommend this shop for piercings. I havent had a tattoo there yet, so I cant comment on that.

Had some piercings close up and i went to have them redone here. I met a lady who has been doing it for many many years. Everything went smooth AND they have a pool table. Pretty nice place

This weekend I received a tattoo by Gill. Awesome guy. very knowledgeable, personable and his attention to detail is absolutely impeccable. I showed him a picture of a tattoo style that I liked and he completely recreated it to make a custom piece. His price was fair and reasonable for the amount of detail and time my tattoo took. He was very patient and took time to explain everything he did. I am extremely satisfied with my ankle/foot piece and would recommend him to anybody!

I went last night and got my nipples pierced. Nic is such a sweet lady, made me very comfortable, very professional....and quick! Was a bit tough finding this place, parking was kind of rough too BUT the service was great. I got recommended by a worker at Hot Topic and I have to say Nick did amazing. Piercing was painless she answered any questions i had. Staff was also very welcoming :D

I went here to get my nose pierced and the process was absolutely outstanding. The staff was wonderful and very pleasant to work with. As this was my first piercing I was quite nervous, but the lady who does majority of the piercings made the process as smooth and as painless as possible. Absolutely brilliant. I love this place.

I only had to wait for a little bit of time, being a skeptic I waited for my tattoos to heal before writing my review. They turned out quite nicely, a wonderful memorial to my mother, Charlie did a great job and I will be back!! Would recommend to any of my friends!!

Amazing place. Guys in here are professional, they charge $150 an hour, however they work really fast and really good. My tattoo was about 4 hour, it was done in 2 and a half. Incredible results. They really take time preparing, cleaning, and taking care for the tattoo. And they work late nights as well. The best tattoo place. I highly recommend. Almost everybody there have at least 10 years of experience. They also have waiting area with free pool, sofas, TVs, games whatever you want. Definitely would go there for my next tattoo.

I just got my ears and Daith pierced here and the woman who does the piercings is AMAZING!! So professional, extremely kind and made me feel at ease. She explained the whole process step by step and showed me her sterilized tools. I would only ever recommend her, she’s the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had piercings done at other places before.

I didnt catch the ladys name that redid my piercings. She was so personable and made me feel comfortable. She even educated me on my piercings that were previously done incorrectly at another shop. I highly recommend her.

He did an absolutely 💯% amazing job!! Sunflower on my thigh and my sons footprints on his fathers shoulder! Will definitely go back. Love how he made the decision to imprint our sons feet, that way they were his actual feet as the tattoo!

EDIT: for my first visit, I gave Calaveras five stars. it was a good experience. however my last visit, with the same artist, was indeed my last.still awaiting response from the business so i can report my artist. a word of advice: be aware of what is appropriate and what is INappropriate behavior from your tattoo artist.

Carlos drew and tattooed all I wanted and more, he is truly a fabulous artist. I was really nervous about how big my side piece was, but he talked me through everything and made me feel comfortable. I get so many compliments and I love the finished work. I would recommend him to anyone!

Amazing place with a very friendly staff that are very skilled. Ive gotten all 7 off my tattoos done here, 2 from Ness and 5 from Gumby and will come here for many more. Fairly priced and Nick is the best at piercings.

Nikki was super friendly and informative. She did my tongue piercing and both of friends septum and one of their tongue piercings as well. Shop was clean and well maintained. Would recommend this place to anyone.

I got both Tragus pierced here. One of them i had my coworker record and clearly shows that she did not pierce her markings. This led to prolonged pain on the ear that was pierced wrong and eventually took it out. I mistakingly went back for a naval piercing and she pierced it too deep. I went to La Familia so they could look at it. She instantly said i had to take it out. I tried myself but it was way too tight for us both so she had to use a clamp. I wish i would have looked at the reviews first.

The young lady at the desk was friendly and clear about the services as well as procedures for covid. They were extremely clean. The gentleman who did the tattoo was funny, kind and patient. I would definitely go back and thought the whole vibe was positive there.

Gil made my experience a great one!!! My first time ever going to an actual tattoo shop I wanted the best of the best and thats exactly what I received. Told him what I wanted and how much this chest half sleeve meant to me and he made it exactly that way!!!!!!! He is my recommendation to anyone who wants the best!

It was amazing, I got my nose and helix pierced with my friend and obv I was scared and was emotional and the lady was so sweet about the whole thing, let me calm down before doing anything and counted before she did the piercings. It was a great experience and I’ll definitely be back!!!

Awful just awful! Never in my life have I been treated as poorly as I have been here. Jason is a joke and literally ruined my face with the worst tattoo, then when I said I didnt like it, he got defensive and rude and even tried to lie to my face about what I wanted on my own person. I cannot stress enough to never go to this place!!!

Nick was awesome when I walked in asking about a daith piercing. I have suffered from migraines for years and the last 2 months I have had a constant, persistent, low- grade headache every day. She explained the possible benefits and possible downsides. At first she wasnt sure she could pierce me as she said my daith was not very big. But she verified it and was able to complete it.UPDATE:Its been over a month and I am headache free!! I clean my piercing twice a day with a Q tip soaked in warm salt water and then another one with a couple drops of Melaleuca oil (aka tea tree oil). It is healing well.I highly recommend Nick for piercings.

I got my tattoo by Carlos and it is AMAZING he covered my easter egg OM tattoo with a beautiful Buddha and Lotus flower beautiful detail and just wow he was super nice (even when i wasnt) will def only go to Carlos and you should too!!!! oh did i mention he prices like wow also.....i have also never been to a tattoo studio where i felt like my son (whos 5) was welcomed they have a pool table to entertain while you wait and a nice seating area as well. I literally just left the shop i just got my septum done by this lady didnt catch her name . But she was amazing !. I was much nervous but she eased my anxiety . Came out great didnt hurt one bit !. Overall beyond satisfied with her and my peircing THUMBS UP!

I came in 20-30 minutes before closing and Ness agreed to help me out with a small tattoo that turned out amazing, and stayed about 20 minutes past close. Super nice, down to earth staff, definitely check this place out!

My first time here at Calaveras, NESS was great!! He gave me exactly what I wanted, a memorial piece for my mom and sister. Its beautiful. Next time though I will schedule an appointment with him. THANKS NESS 😁

I paid $600 upfront for a chest piece, that was suppose to be a cover up. Once the session was over I was told to give it some time to heal then he would finish it. The artist wouldn’t answer my calls or textafterwards. In short, I never got the piece finished, and you can still see the previous tat that was suppose to be covered. There are plenty of tattoo shops in Killeen, spend your money somewhere else.

Today I was a walk in. I was hooked up with Carlos, with a very complicated piece. Not only did he take 2 different pictures as a guide to what I wanted, but merged them, and did phenomenal work. I highly recommend.

Great experience at this shop. I’ve been twice, once for a Friday the 13th and the second time for the Day of the Dead specials. Both times I was worked on by Gumby. Fast and good work, clean space, and friendly staff.

Tattoo artist was rude. Sat there an hour while he drew up the tattoo, only to have him come back and say he would have to reschedule. If you cant do the tattoo say so.

My bridge and my husbands tongue were pierced at an angle with extremely poor quality, externally threaded jewelry. The combination of these things caused my bridge to begin to reject, causing one hell of a scar that I may not be able to repierce ever. Its a really shame that the closest reputable piercer is in Austin. Maybe if they began carrying high quality like anatometal and neometal , and updated theyre piercings practices I would consider another visit. Piercer was unable to recognise signs of rejection and thats worrisome. Place needs a lot of work

So go a fire piece on my neck!!! Not going to lie, there where parts that hurt really bad. But I had a mission, and goal. And I achieved both, this is not some gimmick tattoo. No Im not trying to be the king of any streets or anything like that. But in my own personal world I am the king. IM THE SOLE PROVIDER FOR MY FAMILY, also dealing with the lose of a family has really tested my mental strength, so this represents all that Ive accomplished when dealing with that. Got ripped off $1600 by Roman Luna, paid in full In about 3 visits to get the money out of the way as well as help with their money shortage at the time, but soon after that he no longer had time to make appointments or cared to answer phone calls or return them for that matter,waited in shop for about 2 hrs and got a no show, the other owner Jesus didnt help either, said that it was between me and the artist, great way to run a business and make a name for yourself as well as treating the military community with integrity.

Ow I know whats its like to be stolen from. Went in a gave two deposits equaling $200 to an artist there, now he doesn t work there and they won t refund my money. Stay away from this place.

I got my rook piercings and they got my in and out more problem and gave me advise on cleaning and keeping up with the piercings.

I got my work done by Gil amazing guy to work with stay 4hrs and 30min after his shift to complete the work I highly recommend him.
