The owners of this place are amazing! The aesthetic of the shop is so dainty but hardcore and I love it. My artist is Dani and the work she creates is indescribable. I live in NJ and have traveled to Black Alter 3 times because I refuse to get any large pieces done by anyone else. The shop is in a great location. They play the best music. And it feels like home when you’re in there with each of the owners that show up EVERYDAY! Very professional team of hardworking women. 10000000/10 experience with them every time. I highly recommend this place.

Im more at home at Black Altar Collective than any other tattoo shop Ive ever experienced. Not only are the decor and vibes sublime, but the sheer talent and kindness in the artists here is stacked to a whole other level. I cannot stop screaming & crying about how wonderful and perfect Emily is. Shes been my ride or die artist for about 8 years, and I will never stop coming back. I’ve been tattooed by all 3 ladies at Black Altar and it’s one of my favorite places to be! First of all, I’ve always felt safe and welcomed there, which is very important to me. On top of that, the place is just brimming with artistic talent and technical mastery. They put out the highest quality of tattoos on the daily, proof of the decades of experience between the three of them. The aesthetics of the shop are immaculate, their camaraderie is always the most fun to be around, and if I could live in the rafters def would. I can’t recommend Black Altar enough. I’ve even sent my closest friends there!

Danielle did great work with my Frank-N-Furter portrait! Not only are the artists talented beyond words, the atmosphere in the shop is amazing. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a unique tattoo.

Ive been getting tattoos from Michelle for years she does incredible work, her space at Black Alter is incredibly clean and professional it gives witchy vibes and is very relaxing. Her and the other artists are very friendly and welcoming, making for easy conversation. They are all very accomplished artists, who are always supporting other small businesses in the area. If anyone wants a unique and tasteful tattoo look no further!

I’ve gotten all three of my tattoos done here, and I’m not sure I’ll ever need to try another shop. Clean and decorated in the most stunning and beautiful way, I feel at home here. All of the artists are friendly, and beyond talented. I’m so pleased with the work that I’ve had done here, and have seen their amazing work on friends as well. Simply the best.

I got a large piece from Danielle that is the absolute COOLEST tattoo I have ever seen. Every artist at the collective is incredibly talented and easy to work with. Bonus points should be awarded for the masterful bathroom decor. Go get a tattoo there!!!

Michelle listened and was super thorough with what I was looking to get done. She did an amazing job in bringing my vision to life. I am super stoked for my next session! The shop is ran by all women, which is a plus. The interior design was beautiful (especially the bathroom) and everything is so unique and creative.On to the work, we went to the artist Danielle. She was incredibly cordial and welcoming. My girlfriend I traveled 2.5 hours for her to get a huge thigh piece. The detail in it is phenomenal and it was completed relatively quickly. We would and most will come back and recommend the shop as a COLLECTIVE to anybody. Thank you again Danielle!
