Outer Limits Tattoo

For a little over a year, Id had a very specific idea for a tattoo and I finally decided to go for it when I saw the beautiful work of Outer Limits Charlene Hsu-Rodriguez on Instagram (her @ is FloralAndInks).My entire experience with Charlene and Outer Limits was incredible. Charlene was always very open to collaborate and work with me on my vision for the piece. While we worked out the details of how it would look, Charlene had this perfect combination of voicing her opinions and concerns, all-the-while never making me feel pressured to change my mind about anything. I always felt like I had the final say, and that my choice would be fully respected and supported. Also, having spent over 12 hours there, I can easily say Outer Limits other staff, and the establishment itself is incredibly friendly and professional.Not only is Charlene an incredible artist, but shes also such a wonderful person. My piece took a long time to complete, and even while focusing completely on her work, we had some incredible chats about so many different things. Know that if you end up going with Charlene or Outer Limits, youll absolutely be in good hands.

First time here, did a walk in.lovely peeps… man at the front desk and my artist alex. he is a funny guy, was very patient with me too (i yap a lot). he is great at his job.this shop is a gem… great music, real nice team, and beautiful energy. the way it’s decorated is sick, always something to look at.i will be back after i pay rent lolthank you guys so much. i love my new tattoo. i wish i could give you guys 10 stars.

Finally had something for Kari to tattoo on me. She has always been a great artist and I’m more than satisfied with the work she did on me. Tattoo of my boy Zack after he passed away. Amazing shop with wonderful people working there. All the artists here are more than competent to tattoo anyone. Plenty of different styles and techniques used here. Something for everyone. Everyone was so friendly and professional as well.

Hands down best tattoo shop Ive ever been to. Everyone there is so amazing and supportive of eachothers work. I got a large original piece drawn by Jason and he made the whole experience worth it. His detail and shading work are insanely high level. I would recommend him to anyone in need of a high end tattoo. The colors are vibrant and the detail work is unbelievable. I still have 1 more session to go before this is all done and I cant wait to start planning my next one!

This place is Awesome! the people here are incredibly nice, cool and you can tell that they all are doing what they love!I went to get a portrait of my dog that passed. Jessy D. was my tattoo artist that made it all happen, she was the right person to bring this portrait to life. The tattoo was SPOT ON! of what I envisioned.From start to finish everybody there was super chatty and just giving out this great vibe, that made me feel part of their family. Made me feel welcome and comfortable.I would definitely recomend this place! You cant go wrong if you really understand the process and how everything works.

First off, the shop is very impressive, big, modern, clean, everyone is super accommodating, I’ve never been offered snacks when getting tattooed, they offer plenty and water throughout, super nice. The museum is small, but some super cool artifacts and vintage flash in there.In terms of my tattoo experience, hand poke tattoos are usually gentler on the skin and less painful, I’ve had a couple over the years. Gali was fast, professional, very kind, and the tattooing was nearly painless which says a lot for three tattoos over 4 hours. Highly recommended for anyone interested in a hand poked tattoo.

I love my tattoo. These guys were great at accommodating a walk in custom tattoo. Alex is a great artist and fantastic to work with. He altered the design until it was what I wanted. Maybe I’m weird but I personally really don’t like talking during tattoos. Alex provided a quiet, relaxing service.

If you get the chance to meet Yvonne, consider yourself lucky! She is the most genuine soul.Talented, funny, and has great music taste. She also has the most gentle hand that makes sitting for a few hours feel like such a breeze. I wouldn’t recommend anyone else! She is truly so incredible at her craft and extremely knowledgeable.

One of the most beautiful place of the US due to the strong dedication of Kari and the team to the tattoo History. Kyle will give you the best welcome in the shop. Jose will provide you finest tattoo with kindness and joy. All the team around gives you little attentions while enjoying your Time there. 100% in love with this tattoo parlor.

I got a tattoo from Justin on my trip to California for the first time had a great experience and I loved my finished tattoo!

I got a memorial tattoo for my cat with Cierra, and it was absolutely perfect. She spent time making him come to life through the several photos I sent her, and handled the whole situation with such empathy as I lost him recently. During the tattoo, Cierra was so easy to talk to, professional, and also emotionally invested in what she was tattooing on me. It is amazing how much detail she got in such a small space! I cannot recommend her and Outer Limits enough.

I am looking for an affordable tattoo studio for my girls to get their 1st ones. I looked at this place over 20 years ago and wouldnt recommend them. However today they have changed my mind. They were very open and welcoming. They took the time to show my daughter and I around the shop and answered all of our questions. They really broke it down to what she should expect and just a hole different shop then 20 years ago.

Have gotten a few tattoos here and it’s my favorite shop :) Yvonne is KICKASS and a pleasure to be around, and I wanna give a special shout-out to Kyle for being the most kind and welcoming person I could ever hope to come into contact with when going to a tattoo shop (or any establishment tbh). we need more kyles in the world. Amazing experience. the artists working there were super helpful and chill and Justin did a fantastic job on my two tattoos. Would definitely come back to get tatted again even though I live in Chicago. Jody was great too even with everyone giving her a hard time.

These guys (and girls) are great. They were very clean, very detailed and very personal. I went in with a friend in April of 2007 and we each got tattoos after making a schedule a couple weeks prior. He was also able to get piercings in his lips on the spot. Everything was very well done, and very well explained. Both came out great, I didnt need any touch-ups, and I definitely plan on returning for more despite now living five hours away!

The quality of work here is top notch, the shop owner is a legend and it shows. What I really love about this entire shop is the atmosphere. Everyone in it is friendly, they are knowledgeable, and they really show they care about giving you quality art. I have been going to Jorell ( who is amazing with watercolor check him out) for about a year to work on a large scale piece. He has been phenomenal with his help and support in making this happen.Sidenote: Check out the cool museum parts in there! its an awesome part of history if you like tattoos!

Mickey was awesome with a redo she did for me. The whole process was clear and she made sure I was doing ok during the entire process.

I had the pleasure of being tattooed by Yvonne. She was a perfectionist and made me feel completely comfortable when getting my first tattoo. I had to wait quite a long time with COVID shut downs, but it was ultimately worth it. Yvonne emailed back and forth with me for months about the design and then walked me through her detailed process in person. As for the actual tattoo... the craftsmanship and clean lines are unparalleled and my healing process was so smooth. My tattoo actually never peeled which is a major credit to Yvonnes needlework and careful shading. My advice to you is book an appointment asap with Yvonne... you wont regret the experience and will leave with one of the best tattoos for the rest of your life.

Went in on Nov 8, 2017 to get my very first tattoo, had an idea what I wanted and how it was going to be done, The tattoo had to be done in 2 sessions which I didnt mind. Im very pleased with how my tattoo was done, it came out really good. I want to thank Tasi who was the artist who tattooed me that day, very friendly patient and really professional specially since she had to do a lot of circles on my back fore-arm including the shading part as well lolz. I definitely plan on coming back for my second tattoo, did a lot searching for a good parlor and this was the best place with highly qualified experienced artist. I definitely recommend Outer limits and would suggest anyone wanting to get their tattoos done or first timers like myself to come here, you wont regret it.

Outer Limits is a world renowned tattoo parlor with the best people working there. Jessy D is one of them and the one that fills my life with the ink that it needs. Her work is number 1 in Ventura County and number 1 in my heart. Was blessed to venture to Long Beach and hangout at a historic spot while getting my rose done by her. Great tattoo parlor! The staff were friendly and nice. We came in as a walk in and they worked with us to find times to get our tattoos done. They have an interesting room with the history of their tattoo parlor as well to check out.

The folks here were very patient with a newbie and have been all around awesome. Cannot recommend this place enough.

My experience with Outer Limits Tattoo began about 1.5 years ago, when I first reached out to Kari to request a spot on her waiting list. I’d been thinking about my piece for years, and had scrubbed all manner of reviews, portfolios & “Top 10” lists both in California and out as I looked for the perfect artist to take it on. One name that popped up again and again was the “World Famous” Kari Barba.After a series of simple email exchanges, she agreed to take the job if I was willing to wait until the following year on her waiting list. The piece was to be a black & gray leg sleeve, an octopus with tentacles reaching upwards to my thigh.As it’s difficult to estimate the number of hours such a piece will take (healing speed, skin tone, etc. are all variables), we booked 12 appointments in advance, figuring I’d visit once a month and finish the piece sometime within that year.I was able to get in a few months early, due to a cancellation on her books, and recently finished the piece.Kari was incredible – I felt privileged to watch as she freehanded the outlines of the piece each session, she was sensitive to the more painful areas around the knee & shin & went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable throughout each long day. The other artists seemed to treat her as something between a friend and a mentor, which says so much as each of the artists are tremendously talented. The atmosphere was comfortable & friendly, with the receptionists never failing to offer food & refreshment as we took the occasional 15 minute break.As for the tattoo itself, It’s better than I could have imagined – the texture looks something akin to a photograph if viewed up close. I’m stopped regularly 1-2 x/week as passersby ask to view it, one of the progress shots was featured on the front page of Imgur, and most of all it carries incredible significance for me.My wife will be visiting JoRell next month to start an incredible water color tattoo (see his portfolio, the vivid colors & linework are amazing), and I’m already looking forward to my next piece with Kari.Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns about my experience, I’ve nothing but a 10/10 to give my experience at Outer Limits Tattoo. Nothing but incredible artists who are helpful, gentle, knowledgeable and incredibly fun to be around! Couldnt possibly love Outer Limits more. Plus, the history of the place is amazing! A definite recommend.

Best tattoo shop in Long Beach in my opinion with the most talented artists. Every artist there is extremely talented beyond belief. Ive gotten other tattoos in Long beach and I regret not coming here first. If you want a great Tattoo, you go to Outer Limits.

Friendly, professional, clean shop and honestly there isnt an artist there that I wouldnt let ink me. Everyone there is amazingly talented. The museum is a neat little time killer if you are early for your appointment or just want to wander a bit.

Nice, short walk from the marina thru the Pike to see one of the artists who has tattooed us before, Laura, who showed us around and we talked about a new piece on our next visit. Interesting history of the studio and open that safe, already!!

Really clean...kind of dimly lit. Friendly helpful staff. Went in on a Sunday though and they only had 1 artist available and they were already booked. Next appt I could make to see someone was Wed. 3days later.

I had some work done at that location in 1985 when it was Known as Bert Grimms, Dave Orlowski did a piece on my left bicep, still looks good to this day, I am really glad Kari bought that shop, (I have been a customer of Karis shops for years, Twilight Fantasy years) Its a piece of history, not only Tattoo history, but a part of Long Beach (where I live) that is one of the last remaining pieces of how LB was, What SHe has done has done nothing but honor the history of tattoos/tattooing, I will always forever be a customer.

I love this place. Its pricey but the work is amazing and Ive gotten all of my tattoos from outer limits.

The staff was super unfriendly, they werent able to answer any questions. by the time I had asked 3 questions an didnt get any answers, I had already decided this was not a shop for me. They genuinely made me feel uncomfortable. I will never go back
