Skin City Ink Memphis - Tattoo & Piercing

Amazing place to get tattoos done. Can’t go wrong with picking an artist to do quality work here. Rayne did this tattoo for my last night and did amazing detail work all for a price that was well worth the work involved. Everyone is very personable and chill here and the location is smack dab in the middle of Midtown so it’s walkable, bike-able, or drivable at a decent distance. Highly recommend this place.

I just had the most amazing experience here. I went here for a tattoo after we went to Graceland and the service was AMAZING! All the people were so nice and explained everything so clear. They made sure the tattoo is what you wanted and how big you want it. I had the tattoo artist Rayne and she was so sweet and kind. She explained every step of what she was doing and what i could expect. The tattoos turned out just the way i wanted them. On the pictures there is a second skin on the tattoo so that’s why it looks a little weird at some points.I am very pleased with how everything went and would certainly recommend this place to everyone!

FYI my specific comments about Skin City are at the bottom.I have been tattooed six times now by five different artists in five different shops over the course of nearly 28 years. Most recently I used Skin City Ink for a touch up via Rayne Laughlin, who we found at another shop. We chose the other shop initially via walk-in with my family. My daughters and I had been planning a Dad and Daughters tattoo for several years and we took advantage of all three of us in Memphis over the holidays (Dec 23). We were paired with Rayne Laughlin and we could not have been more lucky! The quality of her work was top notch and I will attach pictures of our work. However, the reason where she really shone was her people skills. It was my youngests first tattoo and she was super nervous. Rayne took the time to talk with her, answered her questions and addressed her fear. During the tattoo she over-explained every move she made to ensure my daughter was comfortable. My eldest had been tattooed twice and Rayne exhibited the same level of care with her as she did with my youngest! In fact, Rayne was so comforting my wife decided to pull the trigger on her first tattoo, one she had been contemplating for a couple of years, that night! Yep, same level of care and concern with her.I was so impressed with Rayne that I went back a little over a month later and talked with her about a tattoo Ive been contemplating for almost seven and a half years! It just so happened to be a style she loved and showed me some of her similar work. It didnt take long to convince me, given my previous experience with her and the facility so we booked it.My latest tattoo was fairly complex and it took a solid 4+ hours to complete it. Again, she took her time to over explain everything and was constantly checking with me to make sure I was okay.I dont know if Ill get any more tattoos as I said this last one was going to be my last (I said that 7 years ago when it was drawn) but I ended up getting a simple one in between so, who knows! What I do know is, I will definitely consult with Rayne first!As for Skin City Ink, what an awesome shop! Each artist has a dedicated room in which to work. They are quiet, comfortable, and can be closed off for privacy! The owner, Donna, was super nice, super professional and an absolute joy to speak with. Not only that, our initial interaction with this shop was a carryover touch up (no charge) from the work Rayne did for us at her previous shop. Donna didn’t even bat an eye over Rayne’s commitment to her customers! I will be doing more work with Rayne in the near future and I am so glad she moved to Skin City!

Polo is amazing!! He did the most beautiful Tattoo for me and he created it himself! I’m so grateful for the time and the gift of creativity that he provided. It was inexpensive but worth more than money can buy. He pays attention to detail and he met my personality with his creativity. An artist a true artist! Everyone was very nice and kind. The owner was very friendly and I will be back to get some more work done and a few more laughs! We had a good time!

Been going here for years! All of their artists are amazing! Mrs. Donna is fabulous! They treat us like family every time we come in! You won’t be disappointed!

BEST TATTOO SHOP IN MEMPHIS!!! My boyfriend and I came in on a whim, Thee owner Donna paired us with an artist and the entire experience felt like i was hanging out with long time friends. Donna is such joy and she has such a cool vibe, plus she kept us laughing the entire time during our visit. Karriem was my tattoo artist and he blew me away with his professionalism and attention to detail. Keep shining Karriem, I’m sending all my friends and family to you for new ink and you’ll most definitely have me in your chair again soon. My dad and I went in for tattoos today and everything was amazing here!!! Rayne did my sternum tattoo and she did great explaining everything and making sure I was comfortable, she did an amazing job with the tattoo and getting it exactly the way I wanted. My dad had Falls do his tattoo he had fill in work around the other tattoos done and Falls did an outstanding job on the tattoos making them blend and shape together. Overall this is an amazing shop its clean welcoming and everyone here is so friendly and helpful!!!!

This is the only place I will go! Rayne is an amazing artist, and the only person I trust with my body!! Great management, lovely atmosphere. I’m in that chair a few times a year! Highly recommend this shop to anyone. Especially women who want a woman tattoo artist they can trust - Rayne is your girl.

Excellent tattoo session provided by a professional artist in a more than comfortable and family oriented environment. All inks were poured and needles opened before my eyes and the design was drawn up as I had pictured it. The aftercare procedure is Sani-derm like product which is super easy. The only downside was, using an educated guess, I would say the floorplan for the shop has more square footage than the parking area. I got an excellent re-work and 2 original tattoos here so far and have not a single complaint.

Falls (behind ears) & Rayne (mushroom) did amazing work on our tattoos! Super friendly, clean & professional environment. They made sure to tell us what they were doing every step of the way too, which is awesome! Highly recommend!(the color in the mushroom photo is a bit washed out on camera, but in person, it POPS!)

Been here for a while and these guys are like family, super awesome people and very welcoming, the tattooers who do my tattoos mainly are Juce and Falls Laughlin, the owner is very sweet woman, i’ll say if you want piercings too talk to Wesley these guys are awesome 10/10 would recommend!!

I would recommend this wonderful establishment to anyone! I went to about 3-4 other tattoo shops prior to coming here and getting the run around!I finally called here as my last and final attempt. The owner answered and she was sooo pleasant and sweet. I told her I’ll swing by.The owner actually arrived at the same time I did. She greeted me and introduced me to Rayne. The owner let me pick my own colors out for my tattoo. And Rayne assisted me as well and gave great feedback on the color choicesRayne was able to do my dream tattoo and she’s so knowledgeable, delicate, and professional! My wife and I had an amazing experience at skin city in Memphis. Rayne did a great job on our tattoos, and was wonderful working with my wife on her first tattoo ever, making her very comfortable throughout. They were friendly, easy to work with, and really listen to us while designing the tattoos we wanted. Excellent customer service, in fact, I left my jacket there, and the owner, Donna mailed it back to me in Kansas City, and insisted that I dont reimburse her. We greatly enjoyed the visit to Skin City, and would recommend them to everyone who is looking for a great tattoo shop.

Wesley was my piercer and he was super nice. Great personality. I was super nervous about the pain and he calmed me down a lot lol.

These guys make you feel right at home. It was literally like talking to your favorite cousins. They werent rushing, and they took out the time to explain the pricing and pain level thats to be expected. The lady at the front desk was especially AWESOME!!! Great experience! My daughter wanted an eye piercing for her birthday, so we were led here as a result of the great reviews, absolutely not disappointed! We felt welcomed from the time we pulled onto the lot. Donna was like that favorite neighbor, warm and just good-hearted. Jake, oh my, Jake is a professional! He was reassuring, experienced, and really cool, I felt confident that she was in good hands with him. I think the piercing hurt me more than her. He was good! Whenever I can make a decision on a tattoo, well be back.

Wish I could give five stars, but my tongue piercing was not done correctly. Its completely off center. Instead of her trying to use a old hole, she probably should have mark a new hole. But she didnt, so once I heal I got to get redone again. Very friendly and kind service.

As someone who is covered in tattoos from various places around the world I have never felt so comfortable as I did at skin city ink Memphis. 10/10 recommend in all areas! From the moment we walked in ms. Donna made sure we were greeted and comfortable. She took us to a comfortable area to wait while filling out paperwork and had snacks waiting! The universe destined for us to be there. We had a great conversation and felt like family! Zach was great with our nose piercings and squeezed us in as a walk in! On vacation and me and some friends decided to get a last minute walk in. Safe to say the people down at skin city took care of us! Super friendly staff and the artist were amazing. I wanted to get a nose piercing as a birthday gift to myself. My daughter searched for places and stumbled across this shop. I was hesitant at first but everyone was so nice and welcoming. I am a Black woman who recently had a horrible (racist) customer service experience in another local shop. We ended up having to leave. But here, our artist Rayne was professional, took her time explaining the before and aftercare process. The shop was clean and we had a fun. My birthday ended on a high and I will be going back and recommending them to my friends and family.

My whole experience was great! It was easy to get in touch with someone to ask questions and make an appointment. Everyone was friendly. The shop was clean. My artist was great and didn’t make me feel uncomfortable, since I’m an introvert and brought a book to read during my session. I got a large calf piece and it is beautiful. He really did great with what I wanted and far exceeded my expectations. I would definitely go back to Skin City Ink Memphis for another tattoo in the future. I could not be happier.

My group of 4 walked in and we all got great tattoos. We went to multiple places in memphis and most places prices were outrageous for what we were asking for and the wait was days out. These guys gave us great advice and truly care about the art they put on your body. Everybody there was super cool and super nice. It was a great experience.

I had been wanting a tattoo that was a little emotional for me for a while but kept pushing it off. I finally decided to go ahead and get it and Skin City Ink was the first place I called to see if they had an opening or if I could come schedule an appointment. Ms. Donna was so kind to me over the phone and her and Gil (my new tattoo artist) got me in that night and made my idea come to life. From the time I called until the time I left I was treated very well- Ms. Donna really does make you feel welcomed and calm. Very nice and clean with a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. My tattoo artist Rayne was awesome! They were respectful, professional, and had a great sense of humor. My friend and I were visiting Memphis strictly for an Elvis experience! What better way to start it off than an Elvis tattoo IN MEMPHIS!!We searched tattoo shops in the area and no one really stuck out and the few we drove by we werent sure if we should get out of the car, lol, or if the place was clean and legit. We stumbled upon Skin City Ink. And I have to say Google maps gave us the run around to find the place, so glad we didnt give up....totally worth the time to try to find this place!!Highly recommend this place for any artwork you desire. Staff is friendly, establishment is clean, and Chase was spot on with the Elvis idea and his tattooing. I get so many compliments on my Elvis face. When we were there the shop owners & artists seemed like family with eachother, gave off a good vibe. Owners were super nice and engaged with our experience. Next time Im in Memphis this will be on our itinerary stop! 🚗

If I could give 6 stars I would!! This was my first time coming here and I’ve literally fell in love. Every employee gave excellent customer service and made me feel at home!!!! Jason (the person that tattooed me) made me comfortable and I loved how light he was. I barely felt the needle!!!! He was fast and did exactly what I asked. I was offered water by the First Lady, and she made sure I was ok. I laughed the whole time I was there lol. No shop I’ve been to in Memphis have done that before! I love this place!!!! I went in an hour before close on Valentines Day and they took me in to do one tattoo and one piercing and we ended up doing three tattoos and the piercing for a very very good price rayne and falls were absolutely amazing they made me feel so comfortable and talk to me throughout all three of my tattoos and although I cant remember the guy that did my piercing he was awesome as well I highly recommend skin City ink !!!

Best tattoo studio Ive gotten work done at. All their staff were friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I got a 3x3 tattoo on my hip with some of the best linework Ive ever gotten. The individual studios were clean and well kept. My artist was able to modify the image I brought in to work well as a tattoo and I couldnt be happier with it. Their airbrush artist has an amazing talent for his art as well. Additionally, they use some of the newest technology including wire free tattoo guns and second skin. We plan on bringing our daughter here to get her ears pierced in the coming weeks.

Skin city is the best their super friendly professional the staff is super nice and they make you feel so comfortable me and my husband came in for tattoos and they were great super light handed and even for my first tattoo they made me feel very comfortable they were polite and I went back twice and one week due to them making me feel not so 😨 scared of the ink 😅 and now Ill be going back for a third time in a few weeks and their prices are very reasonable and the shading is incredibly it makes your tattoo look like a it just pops right off your skin Ill definitely go to them and no one else skin city is the BEST👍👍💙💙 anyone in Memphis go to SKIN CITY ASAP they are the best 👍👍👍👍💙💙💙💙

My experience at Skin City was amazing. The shop is very clean and the environment is immaculate. I got my first nose piercing here and I felt completely comfortable. Donna is a breath of fresh air lol. She went above and beyond. I wanted to give her a hug before leaving. Im definitely going back for any other piercings or tattoos.

Went in for some piercings on my mom’s birthday. I guess we were greeted by the owner and he wasn’t friendly at all… I wanted my mom and I to get nose rings… something fun for her birthday. So besides his bland attitude the young lady who pierced us was nice. Only downside is that i normally get pierced with a 20 gauge and they had no 20 gauge needles or nose jewelry so I had to get pierced with an 18. Unfortunately my nose doesn’t take well to bigger sizes and they didn’t have any good starter jewelry so she put a corkscrew nose ring in my nose which I didn’t think that was good to start off a fresh nose piercing with. The first part of the service the guy that greeted us was just looking at us.. it just made us feel like we didn’t belong there. We came in kinda when they first opened so I kinda just thought maybe that’s why we didn’t get the best welcoming but that’s no excuse… it’s almost like he didn’t want us there. We got stared at from the moment we were filling out the consent forms to the first part of our service. My mom was trying to be fun and crack a joke with him to break the awkwardness but he just shrugged his shoulders and walked off. Kinda put a damper on the whole purpose of being there. It made me wonder why we didn’t get a good welcome? Was it the time we came in, our race or what? But I won’t be coming back here. The experience was just awkward and uncomfortable. I picked this place based off of the reviews but I hate I did.And lastly, I got pierced with a 18 gauge and the piercer stated that I could put an 18 gauge or 20 gauge piercing in it. It’s been 7 months later and I’m still having issues with this piercing. She put a corkscrew nose ring in my nose which I’ve just learned is not supposed to go in a freshly pierced nose. And lastly I got a 20 gauge nose ring and it does nothing but fall out. Please have more experienced piercers in this shop.

I absolutely loved my experience here. Mrs. Donna was the first to greet me and she was the sweetest!! We talked about our cars seeing as we both have miatas and it was such a nice conversation! And, especially not leaving out my piercer, Rayne was fantastic. They walked me through my piercing step by step and took amazing care of me. Overall a sweet experience, im so glad they were able to get me in so late (11:30pm) too lol :)

Everyone was very kind and accommodating. I’m an artist and the airbrush artist invited me into his studio to see his work and talk shop for a few minutes before I got my piercing. Very down-to-earth, talented folks, made me feel welcome and did a great job on my piercing, feels like it’s been missing from my face all these years 🥰

If you’re looking to get a piercing please go here! I had the best experience with Rayne ever! I got a naval piercing and it didn’t even hurt and she talked me through everything in such a calm way. It’s the next day and it’s barely even tender.

I would never EVER recommend to get a nose septum piercing at that business.. the piercer had to pierce me twice, the first time she made the mistake by asking me if I was ready instead of telling me to take a deep breath and then she piercd me in the wrong spot so I had to wait a whole two weeks to get repierced again. and the second time she pierced me too low….so never will I recommend this place to anyone…Ryane is the worst artist ever

If I could give zero stars I would. Horrible work should go back to an apprenticeship an be retrained lines are uneven. Theres no symmetry in the work. Do not get tattooed here. Whats worse is they have an apprentice currently there.

I got my vertical labret done there last night by Tristan and he did an amazing job! He was quick and kind while doing the piercing. It looks awesome & I absolutely love it!
