The best place in Tennessee to get your tattoo done. Lots of skilled artist there and I had the pleasure of getting to work with Cole Armstrong. Very skilled artist and does an absolute killer job. He likes to throw in his own idea to the tattoo your wanting and makes it look even better! Finished up my lower leg sleeve there today and couldn’t be happier with the turnout of it!

Great atmosphere and staff! Ryan takes time to understand exactly what you want and does a killer job on the details! Will be back for sure! Plus, my 10 yr old work from him still looks great!

I love walk up shops, and this was an amazing representation of everything the institution should be! Extremely professional staff. I was welcomed warmly after I made it up the stairs into the vibe of an absolutely beautiful, moody tattoo parlor. This is the space you want to be in for any ink experience. Ultra cool, ultra clean, and all-around perfection. The waitlist is about a month, and Im sure its worth it.

They completely botched my neck tattoo and I’m already 4 months later looking into lasering it. When I contacted the shop they said they would fix the “R” and that I was the one who wanted the placement. Wrong. I let the artist change my mind on font and placement and the stencil was thinner than the actual result. DO NOT GO HERE FOR LETTERING. Customer service was awful, artist lied about the tattoo placement and the result is so bad I hate looking at it. People make comments about it all the time and the laser to remove it will be extremely expensive and I will have scars because some places are too deep into my skin. Find a better shop

I cannot say enough good things about this place. It was my first tattoo and they made the whole process start to finish very easy and were extremely friendly. I got my tattoo done by Daniel Hughes and I couldnt be happier with the finished product. He is insanely talented, a super cool guy that was fun to talk to, and created a better piece than I had even imagined. His work is nothing short of amazing.

I researched a lot of tattoo artists from Knoxville, and Chattanooga. I came across black 13 and immediately knew I was going to get my first tattoo here. I chose Nathan as he seemed to have a great style and dark line work. I couldnt be happier with the results! Nathan is fantastic. It was certainly worth the drive from Knoxville!

First Timer!!!! BEST EXPERIENCE EVER. i went in for a walk in and Danelle Nelms saw me right away!! The staff, especially Cathy, made sure i was informed on every level of how they ran things. Both of them, and i’m sure the rest of the staff, just genuine, super kind, people who care about getting you your vision. apart from the staff- super cool place, very well decorated and 10/10 recommend black 13. will be coming back for more!!!

Great vibe! They made me feel comfortable from the start, helped me make a decision on my tattoo design and were very professional throughout!

I booked a session with Courtney and it had been about 7-8 years since my last time sitting for a tattoo - I was a bit nervous! But Courtney was so kind, courteous and relaxing. She banged that sucker out, too, in like two hours, which blew my mind. Love the bold traditional look and would absolutely come back to Courtney in the future. Also - LOVE THE NEW(ish) LOCATION! Cummins Station was such a pain in the butt for parking - it was awesome to get in and out of the Dickerson Rd location without spending money on parking.

The team here was so welcoming. From Cathy, to the team in the front at check in, everyone had great attitudes. Danelle did an amazing job bringing my idea to reality.

Brad Dozier is currently working on a large piece for me and so far all of my experiences at Black 13 have been great. The girls at the front are friendly and informative.

Incredible place - in my experience, this is the top parlor to go in Nashville. Nathan Fisher went above and beyond, patiently talking through design with me in advance, and then carried the design even higher in the execution. Cannot recommend Black 13 highly enough!

First, the staff and the shop are amazing. So friendly and welcoming, check in was super easy and I didn’t have to wait past my appointment time like I have at other shops. Danielle is amazing, after seeing her work on Instagram a few years ago I knew I HAD to have a piece by her. Her scheduling process was easy. When I got there she had drawn exactly what I had described and I needed no alterations other than just making it a bit larger. The tattoo itself went so quickly and turned out beautifully. Better than I could’ve asked for and full of tiny little details that show her talent for design and passion for the style that she tattoos. I get so many compliments and am so excited to have her do many more pieces for me in the future. Worth the trip! 100% recommend Danielle and Black 13 - there’s so many other talented artists there as well, truly there’s someone for everyone looking for a quality well designed piece.

I had a session with Courtney O’Shea. I have anxiety and have a hard time being around people because of it, but Courtney was so sweet, welcoming, and made sure I was comfortable. She’s the kind of person who makes you feel warm inside just by being in her presence and conversing with her. I’m scheduling again soon and plan to get a handful more from her before I eventually move.The building is clean & gorgeous. All of the staff are extremely kind and patient.

I absolutely loved my experience at Black 13! I was in town for a few days and got the chance to have a piece done by Kirk George. I didnt have an appointment but Kirk was super kind and excited to create a piece for me, even if it meant it took up much of his time. The quality is amazing and I cant wait to stop by there the next time Im in town!Along with that, the staff is so nice and easy going. Sometimes tattoo shops can be intimidating and the staff as well, but everyone at Black 13 were so fun to chat with and answered any questions we had. Thank you all for an amazing experience!

I am in awe. I don’t have adequate words to even begin to say what this tattoo means to me. My dog Lloyd was the heart of my heart for 15 years. Now, I have him with me everywhere I go and the peace the joy I feel having this tattoo is overwhelming. In the actual photo of Lloyd, you can see me standing in Lloyd’s eye taking the photo. It was a huge request, but I asked @colearmstrongtattoo to capture that if he could, and he went above and beyond what I thought this tattoo could be. Every individual hair on his head, his big goofy ears, his eyes, the shadow of me standing in Lloyd’s eye…. everything is so spot on. Thank you again, Cole, for doing this tattoo there is no one I would have trusted more to do this. Cole made the process enjoyable, fun, and was very easy to talk to and respected if I needed to take a break or go to the bathroom. I highly recommend Cole and all the artists at Black 13 tattoo parlor.

Hands down the best ta-too shop in Nashville, actually country. Ryan is one of the most talented artists I’ve seen and that’s why I waited so long to have work done by him.Every artist in here is extremely talented. Their work will blow you away.The front office staff is extremely nice and helpful. If every business owner took the time and hired quality individuals like Black 13 they would have the same successes. This place rocks all around 👏🏼

I cannot speak highly enough of my entire experience! The website form is easy to use. Nicole was EXTREMELY helpful with scheduling and getting the details communicated to my artist. Everyone was friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy being there. And Courtney OShea is an absolute ROCK STAR! This was a really important piece for me and she nailed it perfectly! Ive gotten so many compliments on her color work. I couldnt be happier with it!! And Im going back to her for the next one, too. Its only a 5 star system, but thats really not high enough.

My entire experience with Black 13, from booking to the actual tattooing process, has been absolutely fantastic. The front desk staff were super kind and friendly.And Courtney O’Shea is a real life angel! I overestimated my toughness and had to tap out after linework, shading, and one color on my sternum/stomach piece. I went to Courtney O’Shea get a memorial tattoo of my dog who passed away at the end of June. She captured his expression perfectly! She was very nice and professional, and she told me I didn’t need to apologize for having a reaction when I apologized profusely for my leg jerking during the tattooing.The tattoo shop itself is very clean and organized! The interior design is beautiful. The front desk staff were also very friendly.

I just got a tattoo here, by Luke Baxter and it is the very best highest quality tattoo I have ever got. I am so pleased, my expectations were far exceeded. I highly recommended Black13, it nice without being pretentious. Luke is very professional, he was well prepared, completely focused, and from beginning to end- with the first needle strike, it was evident that he is very skilled in his craft. Bottom line, the best tattoo experience I have ever had.

The artist here are amazing at their craft. Had an idea for a sleeve that I really didnt know how to piece together and Chris brought it to life and it was better than I ever pictured it to be. The staff are very friendly and professional as well. Will be getting more work done there in the future

I got my first tattoo here, and let me spill the beans on how accommodating, sweet and friendly the staff are. I had planned on getting a tattoo a week ago, got the plans set in stone with Luke Baxter and was excited for the experience. My therapy animal unfortunately passed away before my appointment, and last minute I contacted them to change my tattoo design. They were immediately responsive and understanding, contacting my artist and agreeing on the switch. Once we met up, he was so sweet and professional on the switch, thanking me for the opportunity to do my tattoo! It came out perfect, and Im so happy to have my cats tiny paws forever 💖

I cannot give this place enough stars as it deserves. These people are so kind and professional, all while having a super relaxing atmosphere. I am so satisfied with my tattoo. Nathan did absolutely amazing and he took his time. He made sure everything was the way I liked and was very patient with me. Everything was super sanitary and neat. Danelle got back with me very quickly when I scheduled my appointment and was very friendly. Highly, highly, highly recommend. I wouldnt go anywhere else.

Black 13 is the BEST, most diverse and comprehensive shop in Nashville. No matter what style tattoo youre after, someone there is an expert. The shop is clean, the music is always great, its a relaxing and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome - I just cant say enough good things about this shop. Kirk George has done two of my tattoos and one for my husband and we would never go anywhere else now. His work is THE BEST and I get so many compliments on both of my tattoos from Kirk. I wear them so proudly! The front desk staff are also heads and shoulders above all of the other shops Ive been to. They are friendly, honest and organized. I cant recommend this place enough.

Ive been meaning to post a review for a while, but better late than never. Black 13 is the absolute BEST!!! I went in for their LIVE event and it was something really special. Once a year they choose a local non-profit, their artists prepare flash sheets and host walk ups only, and then they donate 100% of the proceeds from the day to the non-profit theyve selected. Even better, the non-profit when I went was Crossroads Pets. So basically, I got a tattoo that I LOVE and helped some pups, cats and humans in a round about way. Ive never heard of a shop doing this, but Im so glad Black 13 does!The atmosphere inside Black 13 made me feel instantly at ease. You can tell theyve put a lot of thought in to their decor and the all around experience for guests whether you are a first time client, a regular, or its your first time ever walking in to a tattoo shop. Not to mention, the front desk staff was so welcoming (on a very busy day) and ready to answer my many questions. They were great!Ryan Thomas did my tattoo and he crushed it! Hes super professional, talented,, works fast and his work is incredibly accurate too! Ill be seeing him again for sure!This wasnt my first tattoo or the first shop Ive been in and I can honestly say it was the best experience Ive had this far. Ill definitely be back. I live over 5 hours from Nashville but have been visiting this shop for almost 10 years now. I started going down and getting in from the great Steve Martin and after taking some time off from getting tattoos this was place I went back too. The artists are all top professionals who know the ends and out of the game and the staff is amazing. I had a peace done by Cole Armstrong yesterday and its nothing short of amazing! Cant ait to have it finished. Keep up the great work!!

Great artists and staff and a rad shop. Always the best experience. Ive done a lot of research on artists here in Nashville and collectively this shop has some of the best work I’ve ever seen combined. There’s not one person who i wouldn’t want to tattoo me. Apart from the artists, the ladies, Kim and Ren, who help run the shop are always extremely helpful and professional. If i could give more than 5 stars, i would. Awesome shop, great atmosphere, friendly staff and artists, clean, and hands down just straight up quality work.

I have gotten ten tattoos here. I loved each experience. Communication concerning tattoo ideas is pretty easy and speedy. They talked me through each idea and gave me an accurate time/price quote for them. The place is extremely clean and professional. Each one of my tattoos has turned out exactly the way I wanted. I couldn’t recommend this place more. Brad Dozier did my most recent very large piece. The detail is phenomenal. I was blown away.

It was great! Luke tattooed me and it went really smooth. It was my first so I was nervous, but he and the receptionists did an amazing job at making me comfortable. The lobby and the actual shop were super clean. They took many precautions because of Covid, which I appreciate. 5 stars for sure!

I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else for a tattoo. Steve Martin did my 1st tattoo there (RIP) and it was great then and with the 2nd experience it was great as well. From the beginning Kimberly was amazing to communicate with and was even more of a joy to speak with at the shop. Brad was the one who did my 2nd tattoo there and also did a great job. He was honest about what would work despite my original plan and it turned out better. John there has done tattoos on my husband as well and he is also very talented and does awesome work! The booking in advance and the wait for certain artists is worth it for the quality. The staff is overall professional as well as the environment.

Went (20/1/18) in planning to get a tattoo by Kirk George. Id come from New Zealand and didnt want to miss out, so I got to the shop early. 5 mins till opening and the line was already 4 people deep. Unfortunately Kirk George was sick on the day I went in, but the girl behind the desk recommended Nathan Fischer. Well he did an amazing job. The whole experience was really good. The shop is clean and tidy, the artists are really nice. When you walk in you can really tell why they have such a great reputation.

There are some seriously talented artists here and the facilities are super clean and feel very professional. My man Luke Baxter gave me the attached ambigram and added the watercolor to the design last minute. I’m headed back for more!

I went for a walk-in on 2/24 for my first tattoo! The space is clean, modern, and comfortable (even if youre a ball of nerves like I was), and all of the staff people I interacted with were very calming and accommodating. I overheard some consultation-esque conversations, and it also seemed like the staffs priority is being honest with the clients when considering their wishes.After a brief wait, Nathan Fisher began drawing the design for me - he really worked with me (like, kind of a lot - I was probably super high-maintenance...I sorry) to come up with beautiful art that also was humanly possible to do, then we got started. I was super scared, but Nathan was so reassuring and put me at ease.And, so: my tattoo looks amazing, I love it so much. I also have been inundated with compliments, and its only been three days. Nathan is extremely talented, professional, and kind and generally seems like a real cool dude. Go to Black 13 and see him. Start to finish, the experience was so wonderful, I cant recommend these folks highly enough.

Every step of me getting my tattoo with them was great, from making the appointment to walking out the door with my new ink. Front desk was super kind and professional and made sure I understood everything I needed to know pre appointment and for after care. I was in town for my sisters wedding, and my schedule was pretty tight. I emailed the shop the week before and they responded to my email very quickly about details of how walk in appointments work. I showed up and Kim at the front desk was AMAZING. Both Ren and Kim were extremely welcoming, but Kim helped with working out details and times I would be able to get tattooed by Kirk. When my time slot came up Kirk greeted me with an AMAZING tattoo and helped me figure out what worked best for me. The attention to detail about each clients experience is unmatched by any other tattoo shop I have ever experienced. Kirks line work is sick and I am so glad I found him and Black 13 Tattoo for my experience in Nashville. Keep it up, yall.

Black 13 is my official go to tattoo shop! My first appointment with Kirk was amazing! It was my first larger tattoo and I had nerves raging! He was easy going and a lot of fun during the whole process! I brought in an idea that I wanted to be designed with his style and he knocked it outside of the park. So unique and clean and sharp. Ive now begun a booking for another tattoo with Steve Pearson and I cant wait!

I decided to celebrate my 45th Birthday with getting my very first tattoo.From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with such kind, caring and professional service from the lady at the desk. I was very lucky when she said that the artist could squeeze me in for an appointment later that evening. I booked my spot.I had Luke as my artist and he took the time to sit down with me and go over the basic outlines. The 2 tattoos that I was having drawn on me, meant a lot to meFrom the moment I met him, I had no doubts in my mind that this is what I wanted to do and I was not backing out.The whole experience was awesome. When I got to see the end result, I was elated. What an AMAZING place this is. I actually got a tattoo from Luke in September for my birthday. When I called the shop assistant was really nice and happy to help me which is kind of rare for a tattoo place these days it seems. Luke was great and the tattoo healed well. The shop smelled really clean which is always a great sign. I would recommend this shop.

Staff was incredible. I was in town for vacation and planned ahead to get some ink done while there. I was assisted in getting paired with an artist who would best suite the style i was looking for. I am still fairly new to Nashville but not to tattoos. I had been wanting new ink but hadnt found a place I liked yet. I found Black 13 Tattoo online and was so impressed just from their website. They have artists portfolios online so you can basically choose your artist. Thats when I discovered Luke Baxter and I am so glad I did! The process from beginning to end was everything I couldve hoped for. Getting my appointment scheduled and set up was so easy thanks to Danelle! They are following very strict guidelines for COVID and I greatly appreciated that. When I got to the studio, it was so clean and one of the nicest tattoo studios Ive been to. Luke was SO kind and made me feel so comfortable the entire time (make sure you ask about Cheeto). Ive gotten SOO many compliments on my tattoo and may even be my new favorite. Going forward I will tell anyone and everyone to visit Black 13 and to ask for Luke! Ill be back without a doubt! Id give you guys 100 stars if I could!

Ive never had a horrible experience here. I had an appointment with Kirk last evening and it was AWESOME. I submitted artwork and sat down with him to discuss what I wanted and came back last night to get it tattooed on. He was very honest and diligent with the placing, making sure that the tattoo was right where I wanted it. He made me feel really comfortable and there were a lot of laughs. All I can say is he knocked it out of the park with this tattoo. He took what I asked and ran with it, its beyond more than what I expected! Thanks again, Kirk. Ill be back for another session soon.

In Nashville for a week and wanted to end our trip with matching tattoos. After looking at reviews black 13 was the best. We were a walk in and got an appointment two hours later. Black 13 has great artists and are very clean. I recommend them if you are looking for a place in Nashville.

I first contacted Black13 in late summer of 2019 for an appointment for myself and a friend in April of 2020. Something wed be coming in from several states away for.Then...2020 happened.Our appointment had to be rescheduled four times.For over a year, Danelle kept in touch with me by phone and email. The entire time, her only goal was getting us the experience we wanted. I honestly have never had better customer service from ANY other business. When Danelle was busy, Kimberly swung in to take care of us.We were not returning customers. In fact, this was the first tattoo for both of us. The designs we wanted were not big jobs for the shop; not a lot of money. We wanted Nathan Fisher for his clean line work, though our design would use nowhere NEAR all of his skill. In spite of our basic request, and the year it took to get it done, they were amazing to deal with every step of the way. They treated us like long-time customers. Everyone there was caring and completely selfless - treating us as if what we wanted was their main goal.Our artist Nathan was meticulous in his preparation and a complete professional who totally put us at ease. The lines he did on a piece that is ONLY lines (where youd be able to see any variation in thickness or any little wobble) are consistent and even better than Id hoped for. He included as much detail as physically possible.I cant recommend them highly enough. Id go back to them for more work in a heartbeat.

We were in town for the weekend and were lucky enough to be able to do walkins here. They were an absolutely amazing decision - the place is clean, hip, and professional. Luke was a phenomenal tattoo artist, and made our experience wonderful.

I got my first tattoo here a few days at Black13. I wanted a sleeve, but felt foolish to ask for one in my first time. Luckily for me, my artist Brad suggested what I was really thinking. I love my first piece so far. Brad was very focused and did a fast and percise job on my tattoo. He took a personal found concept and made it completely in his own style, which is exactly what I wanted.Ive already received numerous praise on just the lining. I will be going back even after this first piece is completed.I highly recommend Brad if you are seeking any sort of animal or portrait in the artwork!Also the client correspondence from Ren through out all my back and forth emails was stellar. She even matched me with my artist. I suggest emailing over calling. Couldnt have asked for a better experience!

Had the pleasure of being tattooed by Courtney today. She did an amazing piece on me! A little lemon slice! I was unsure of placement and style and she helped me pick a piece I adore! She was very friendly and super helpful on local places to visit since I am here on vacation! Would absolutely recommend!

It was my husbands turn to get tattooed and we ended up here after weve found a flyer and doing some research on the internet. Were Dutch and we werent familiar with this shop or any artist. But we are familiar with other tattoo shops. And we were happy we decided to go here.Even though we were with our 10 months old son, we were welcomed in the shop. My son behaved excellent and didnt bother anyone while my husband got tattooed. My son just kept smiling and even played peekaboo with the manager. The manager was kind enough to warm up his food. I must say I really appreciated that as of course, a tattoo shop is definitely not a place to play for kids. Theres a part where kids (-18) arent allowed, but theres a comfortable waiting area.The shop looks professional and is very stylish. of course I cant judge how talented each of the 9 artists are, but my husband was happy with his new tattoo! He was also satisfied about the artist. So I would recommend this place for sure when in Nashville.

I was a walk in and Luke was absolutely amazing. The entire place was clean and professional and I felt incredibly comfortable. My actual tattoo was done beautifully it is exactly what I wanted. Checking in, the lobby was really cool looking. The whole thing was wonderful, I highly recomend.

Marty is an amazing artist! I have been to many tattoo shops and this is by far the best! They make you feel welcomed as soon as you walk in the door! Very clean and professional. I live 2 1/2 hrs away from Nashville and will continue to make the drive for this shop!!!

Most professional and welcoming tattoo shop Ive probably ever been in. No egos and nothing pretentious here, which is very refreshing for a tattoo shop. Ryan did several pieces on my arm and retouched some older ones to make them up to par with the new ones, and I couldnt be happier. The only downside is that people now stop me all the time to ask where I got my work!

I was in town for a conference and decided I wanted to get a tattoo while I was there. I found black 13 online and read their walk in policy. I was very impressed with everything from the woman greeting me at the door, the cleanliness of the shop, and Luke my artist. He was very cool to chat with and I love my tattoo!

Courtney did my tattoo and did an amazing job! She was super sweet and made me feel comfortable. The place itself was very clean and everyone working was so friendly. Definitely will return for future work.

The place is nice, smells really good. I was greeted by a really nice guy. No complaints there.. But overall I was bummed…. I booked my appointment a couple months in advance (I dont live in the USA) just to turn up and the artist didnt even know what he was doing. Printed out the wrong picture I had sent which worried me. Took an hour to get that sorted. He was awkward, didnt even shake my hand or anything! Then we got tattooing, all was well. A couple days later I realize I wasnt even shown a new needle, or given any prior precautions. I just assumed they used clean stuff cause its a professional business.. Also, dont get script there. A word is wonky, got a couple blobs on some words, and one line of a letter isnt straight.

Super pleased with my visit to Black 13. Courtney did my first tattoos ever and she did an amazing job!The staff made me feel super comfortable while I was there and overall just a positive experience.

I’ve been wanting a Kraken and pirate ship for a long time. Due to some less than ideal tattoos I’ve gotten in the past at other shops I did a ton of research before pulling the trigger. Let me tell you, Chris killed this dang thing! I got my forearm done and now I walk around thinking I am on an episode of ink master or something! Every chance I get, I roll up my shirt sleeve and let it show. So much better than I thought it would turn out. You definitely get what you pay for. The people who work the desk and phones were great too.I will NEVER go to a different shop or Artist again. I’ll be back for more Chris.

Love my tat, but was quoted a lot lower over the phone. Was charged an extra $150. Thankfully I had enough to pay. Everyone is pretty nice. Just didn’t like being quoted a lot lower. Also the artist didn’t even finish my tat. He said I would have to book another session & for just two or three bands around my wrist he wanted to charge an extra $175. Already decided I won’t be going back because the guy really over priced me. He also kept taking a lot of breaks & shaking his hand. Then he could of finished my tat but instead he just kept shading over the same areas like he was wasting time Bc he didn’t want to do the bands. Over all experience wasn’t what I hoped for, but at least most of my tat looks good.

I got my first tattoo here years ago. It was a tiny cross on my wrist (which was $60). I had heard great things about this place so I wanted to take a chance. I don’t remember the tattoo artist that did mine, but long story short he went too deep into my wrist and it caused bleeding of the ink. So it looked like I took a sharpie to my wrist. I gave it about a month to heal because it was scabbed over and peeling for the first few weeks. After a month I decided I needed to have it touched up, so I emailed a lady at the front desk that i needed a touch up which i was informed at the time i got my tattoo would be free. Well it turns out it is only free within 3-4 weeks from getting the tattoo, which I wasn’t informed of a deadline at the time of the session. She said to have it touched up would be the full amount again, $60. So needless to say, I haven’t touched up my tattoo yet and I definitely won’t have anymore done here. The staff needs to work on communication and relaying important information to all of their customers.

Black 13 as a shop is very clean, very nice, and has an extremely good atmosphere. If you plan on going here, do yourself a favor and ONLY book through the shop. Do not contact the artist personally, go through the process the way it’s meant to be done. I went through the artist personally and it ended up being a negative experience for me. The owner, Doy, contacted me personally after leaving a bad review and I thank him for that! His care for the clients experience changed my original 1 star review, if it weren’t for him following up with me, my review and my opinion of this shop would be extremely negative. He handled my problem very professionally and shed some light on what went wrong. So as long as you go through the lengthy process of getting booked, I would recommend going here, that way there won’t be any miscommunication.

INCREDIBLE!! Its the only word that fits every aspect of my experience with Black13!! From its amazingly caring and cooperative customer service team of Danelle and Kimberly; to their extensive health and safety measures (always, but especially during the covid pandemic); to the studios very busy but involved owner Doy; to our awesome tattoo artist Nathan and his super dry humor and super precise lines!!!!! We came to Black13 from out of State on suggestion of a former customer. Our process from planning to tattoo date was long and tideous because of the pandemic. Our tattoo design was small and simple. BUT the Black13 Team never made us feel anything else but valued and SAFE and the result is INCREDIBLE!!!!

I have a lot of tattoos, and whenever anyone asks me where I should get tattooed, I tell them Black 13. The artists there do it all. All sizes, all styles, and all subject matter. Everyone at Black 13 is nothing short of amazing, and the shop is incredible.

I got a tattoo from them last year sept 2018 and was very pleased. i live out of town and only go when i am in the area. i knew i was going to be this year again and i wanted to make an appointment. i attempted to make an appointment a month in advance and they declined saying only in person walk ins accepted. they said there should be available space for when i was in town. just left with then saying they are all booked up for the day. it’s a great shop but that’s they last time i go out of my way only to be turned down

My girlfriend and I were visiting Nashville for a concert. While in town, she decided to get her favorite song lyrics tattood on her forearm. This was her first tattoo so she was a little nervous.When we got to the shop, it was about 1pm on a Friday. The receptionist was very friendly and quickly found a style of font that she liked. After about 30 minutes she was seen by KirK George. He did a good job of keeping a conversation going while he worked which helped keep her relaxed during the tattoo. In total the tattoo took about 25 minutes. His line work was crisp and precise.I would highly recommend Kirk George to anyone looking to get any type of lettering or intricate line work done. He was very professional and made her first tattoo experience a good one.

Jay is the ONLY artist who I will let tattoo me. Perfect drawings and really listens to what you want. I’ve had photographs tattooed perfectly by him.Kirk tattooed right beside Jay and always nice and acknowledged my existence unlike most other artists in the shop.Giving shop 3 stars because Jay and Kirk are no longer here. I’m sure shop is still good, but I’ll never know.I’m sure you can find them online though. Jay quarles and Kirk George.Island Tattoo is my new place to go!

Stopped by there yesterday and the Parlor was very impressive. Got there when they opened and they had a CMT camera crew leaving because somebody with a tv show was getting there tat done there. I got mine done by Kirk George, and I would highly recommend him. Its the only piece Ive got from these guys, so I cant speak for the other artists, but Kirk was a very talented artist and great guy to talk to while youre getting your work done. Would definitely recommend and will definitely visit again in the future!

This is a nice clean parlor and the artist have their stuff together. You can see in their website photos and book the kind of detail they can do. Would give it 5 stars but the waiting line for some top artist in more then a year and not taking any new clients. Im sure this is not the case with all the artist and if you wanted to get in and out, they would be happy to do so. I will be checking back with them to see if things change.

My tattoo was overall pretty awesome, but my experience was pretty depressing. My artist was very introverted (which is okay) but at least try talking to me ya know? I got a portrait of my service dog and he didn’t ask one question about the tattoo or why I was getting it or anything. Just kinda sat for 4 hours looking at my phone in awkwardness. I asked if I could get my dogs name on the collar and he said yes, than after a few minutes he looked at me and said it didn’t fit... I laughed and thought he was joking. He wrote half my dogs name on my arm. I’m sorry, but I would’ve thought you could have stenciled it out to see if it would fit before doing it and messing it up like that. He did apologize and reduce the price a little, and even tried to cover it, but it still shows. God I pray he learns from this.

I was 15 mins late cause I thought my appointment was at 1230 not 1215. They told me the tattoo artist had a 1230 and couldnt see me. Which means he booked me for a 1st time 15 min consultation. Not cool. Will be looking for someone who wants to put alittle more thought into my ideas and not 15 mins.While I was in there they were very hectic. The line alone to get someone to help you in itself was 15 mins.Further adding to my review, no confirmation text was ever sent to my phone. I recommend finding a location who can fit you in.

I was recommended by my artist in Waterloo, Iowa to go there for a tattoo. I had a font in mind for it, but wanted the script a quarter of the length of my forearm. I was told I could get a tattoo in the same script but smaller font behind my ear, but they couldnt do a small tattoo on my arm IN THE SAME SCRIPT due to it not holding up. The placement of my arm would be easier than behind my ear and the details that wouldve been in the numerals of the piece behind my ear were identical the details necessary to complete the written piece on my arm. I just looked at the girl kinda dumbfounded due to the discrepancy in logic and left, since apparently they didnt want my money for something I was super willing to pay for...

I love Black 13. I love the location, the people, the whole thing. I suppose I had better, given that Ive let Ryan do 75 hours of work on me over the past several years.This place isnt easy to get into, but its worth it. It isnt budget stuff, but youre not going to get a budget tattoo.

Visiting Nashville on vacation. My Wife and I wanted to get simple king and queen tattoos. We wanted them to be 2 and they felt they could only do 4 laim they quoted us $160 for mine and my Wifes roughly $150. Talk about ripping off tourists. We decided to wait till we got home and go to a local artist and well probably pay $75 each for the tattoos. I dont reccomend going to Black 13 RIPP OFF

I got my tattoo over a year ago and Im still upset about it. Yes, the place was clean and the front desk was helpful, but my tattoo artist was impatient and rude. I felt rushed and belittled and did NOT end up with what I wanted. I regret not walking away.

I was honored to receive my first tattoo by the wonderful Kirk George. I got a BEAUTIFUL stippled stingray and am able to say I was anything but disappointed! Maybe I have a high pain tolerance, but Kirk made it so easy for me with putting me in a comfortable environment and position. The staff is full of kind people and made sure I received exactly what I wanted and more! While receiving my tattoo I was in awe by the other artists surrounding me. Black 13 Tattoo Parlor is definitely full of highly specialized artists. I live in Georgia, but will for sure be returning to receive my next tattoos by Kirk. I would highly recommend this parlor for anyone looking! :)

Avoid! Was told that a tattoo couldnt be done unless it was 3 times the size we wanted it. I would have rather the staff just fess up and say, I cant do that level of detail. Say, you just arent quite that good yet. Dont say it cant be done, instead say, I cant do it.

When I asked them on facebook if they could do cover ups they said just to stop by and they would look at it. When I got there the lady at the front desk said they couldnt do anything for me due to my tattoo being so big. Maybe if they would have asked to see a photo of my tattoo it could have saved me 2 hrs worth of driving and my time. Waste of time
