Robot Piercing and Tattoo

I have been meaning to get another tattoo for a while but never felt like the right time. Came to Portland to visit with my long time friend and told her what I wanted to do. She noticed Robot Piercing and Tattoo and encouraged me to check it out. We spoke with Kari, one of the tattoo artists there, and I showed what I wanted. She told me she would come up with a sketch to show me at our appointment. I was so nervous until I saw the sketch she made. I fell completely in love with it! Kari is such a thoughtful and wonderful artist. She printed out various sizes for me to try out, stenciled the design so I could see what it looked like before we started. She made me feel super comfortable throughout the whole process! I highly recommend her and her work!

Jo is incredible! I had initially wanted an Industrial piercing, and after looking at my anatomy they said they didnt think that it would heal right. Jo gave me a super cool alternative, was incredibly kind and it was clear they were passionate and took great care in piercing. Additionally they asked my consent every step of the way and explained everything to me. Overall it was an excellent experience and Ill definitely be back!! :)

Compassionate and professional services and excellent selection of locally sourced jewelry. Jo made me feel so comfortable during the process and it was over in a blink. I would absolutely recommend this place to young people who are anxious or new to piercings as this is an incredible shop to find support. I will definitely be back!

Prompt and polite service. The staff broke out into song. The person as the counter (Bones???) was patient and very helpful as I dithered over the earring selection. They never once made me feel like I was annoying. I quote, Its my job, and I love it. My piercer was amazing and made sure I liked my placement before guiding me through the process. I got two new lobe piercings within 5 minutes (maybe?) of filling out my form. It was a great experience. The only negative I have is that the earrings themselves are SO expensive (to me). Honestly, its probably average, but they cost more than the service itself, be warned.

Just had an overall uncomfy experience here. The piercing consultation we paid 50$ for was overpriced to begin with and the sizing was done for only the thickness of the piercing and not the length so now it pinches my ear. Regardless, the size I was matched with was bad and now i cant get my original jewelry back in... and it just looks tacky. I had a weird piercing to begin with, but thats why I thought I was going to a professional. Left the place $500 in the hole and not a lot to show for it. Even if I could afford to go back to this shop, I would not.

Came in for my appointment and was two minutes late. They looked at me and told me they couldn’t pierce me because of the way my skin is formed, told me I would have to pay a late fee in addition to a consultation fee. I was in the store for 5 minutes and left with nothing but had to pay $50 total. Lame :// I get having to pay both of them, but maybe $10 for each fee. $50 to do nothing is crazy.

I love this shop. I always go here when I’m looking to change my jewelry or get a new piercing. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and their jewelry is affordable, high quality, and beautiful. Big fan of this place.

I’ve gotten a handful of piercings in my day and this was by far the most professional and comfortable experience I’ve had! There is a ton of jewelry and Jo was extremely patient with me while I compared and made my decisions. The piercings were quick and easy!

Had a really amazing time here. I was tattooed by Kari and their work was immaculate. It always heals incredibly well, and her lines stay clean well after healing. Theyre also incredibly gentle and patient, and made sure I felt safe everytime Ive had work done by her. I think itd be a disservice to yourself to not have work from her.

I have been getting tattooed by Gene Hannan for 18 years. He always has great ideas for his work and makes my ideas come to life! Always keeps a clean space and works quickly and gently for any of the areas I have a hard time sitting through. I can’t wait for all the fun ones we have planned. And the shop is so great! I highly suggest them for any piercings you might want. Their jewelry is gorgeous and the ladies are amazing and talented!

One of the best shops in Portland. They are professional, clean, and very very welcoming! I absolutely love coming to this shop and recommend it to people if they ask. Got my septum and eyebrow pierced here and the staff were both polite and efficient! both piercings took less than 5 minutes each and they were very thorough when explaining the healing process. Both my piercings healed quickly and with no problems

Came here on a slight whim with my partner for some new piercings. We made an appt the night before. The studio was very clean and professional. The staff were all knowledgeable and EXTREMELY welcoming. The entire process felt so chill, there werent any condescending comments or inappropriate jokes. The staff are very aware of consent, asking permission and elaborating on what was going on during a piercing. Im a pretty anxious guy and I felt almost zen with how comforting and validating/caring the piercer was.I think Id come back just to talk to the staff more, honestly. Theyre going to help me get over my fear of piercings because I want to support the shop almost purely because they were so nice.Plus it looks amazing and thats also important.(Fresh septum piercing and goober grin in pic)

This is a very professional, clean, Covid safe, friendly provider. I had my first nose piercing here 6 months ago and then a couple of days ago got the stud changed.. No pain and very comforting service. I highly recommend this business. 🙏🙏🙏👌

Got my ears pierced here; it was quick and professional. The piercer took her time to make sure the placement looked good with my other piercings and made me feel very comfortable.A couple weeks later and everything has been healing well without any issues!

I have been a client of Jo at Robot for many (many!) years for my body piercing needs and I always have great experiences. I quite like that I can book appointments for my services and I am never rushed to make decisions which can be difficult since Robot has such a great selection of jewelry. Jo has such a warm and calming demeanor - Ive been pierced by a LOT of people in the last 20+ years and Jo is just so wonderful! If you are lucky enough to go in on a day that Tracy is working - you will be so happy too! She is awesome!The shop is super clean and well organized. The staff is always friendly and eager to help when I have questions. The jewelry selection is great and will suit a variety of styles. Usually this place is great, for piercings and tattoos, I’ve had lots of friends go there, unfortunately I feel the need to post a work of warning. I got a nostril piercing here and they showed me the options for piercing jewelry. Only the fronts of the jewelry was visible and I chose a stud that I did not notice was a nose bone and no one warned me. I have many piercings and would never have chosen this if I had known and I had assumed that only jewelry suited to being the first jewelry for a piercing would be offered to me. At no point did anyone confirm that a nose bone was ok with me (at which point I would have said NO) and I never saw the back of the jewelry until it was in my nose. I will inevitably end up having to very painfully pull the nose bone out causing significant trauma to my piercing. I don’t hold too much ill will towards the studio because people were nice and my friends have had good experiences there but I felt the need to warn people to proactively confirm with them the type of backing that jewelry has.

Got my septum piercing done by Jo and go to them to get the jewelry changed out. Excellent service, they are always so kind, fast, and as near to painless as possible. Plus having professionals do the jewelry changed keeps my rings in good shape/not bent so they lady longer. The whole space is welcoming and very clean. Highly recommend going here for piercings.

I just absolutely love the work Gene Hannan does. Not only is he talented but he makes you feel extremely comfortable. He pays close attention to detail and takes a lot of pride in his work. I can’t recommend him enough

I dont typically leave negative reviews but I though I should for this situation. I would not recommend getting pierced here.I came in to get pierced with a friend roughly 2 years ago to get a couple cartilage piercings each. I told the piercer Jo that I would want 2 hoops once they healed (helix piercings) and she said she would pierce them so they would look good with hoops. I followed the piercers directions exactly and soaked my ear in salt water every day. I bought a donut pillow to sleep on and was very careful with them. Despite this, it was continually infected/inflamed. I came in around the 6 month mark to see if it was healing well, and the piercer said it looked good, was just still healing. I came in again around the year mark and got the same feedback.During this time, my friend who I came in with consulted with a different piercer elsewhere who told her that the soaking was likely making hers more inflamed/infected due to creating more moisture and therefore promoting bacteria growth. Once she stopped that and started using wound wash instead it became a lot better. I also started using wound wash instead of soaking and things greatly improved.I am now at the 2 year mark. I went in recently to get the posts changed to hoops and the piercer said I couldnt do it because one was inflamed, which it was, so I understood. After a couple weeks of letting it go down a bit I went to a different and reputable piercer closer to my house. The feedback they gave me was that the piercings have healed improperly and hoops will never sit well on my ear. They said that, had I come in around the 6-9 month mark, they might have been able to do something about it, or re-pierce it. I never got negative feedback from Robot that it wasnt healing well.Im super sad that 2 years of work and regularly checking in resulted in them not being what I want. I am disappointed that Robot didnt let me know that they werent healing well.

The workers were kind and patient. everything was super clean and professional. there was a great jewelry selection. the person who pierced me was lovely and i felt perfectly safe with her the whole time. my ear is healing very nicely after around two weeks. highly recommend. the prices are super reasonable also compared to other places (hello adorn).

I had Tracy and she was amazing! I got a nose piercing that was literally painless. My sister had her ears done years before and was nervous. Tracy took the time to check her ears and make sure she felt comfortable with the whole process. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend coming here!!

So the last time I went was many....many years ago when the shop was in its old location. It has since grown and Jo pierced my gauges. Super professional again and lets just say this, barring me moving Ill always go back...see you soon for the stretch.

My experience at Robot began with a warm welcome from the front, and then a thorough consultation and honest discussion about what to expect from start to finish. I was given detailed instructions on how to care for my piercing and what I could expect in the coming hours, days, weeks and months to come as it heals. (Literally everything Jo said that would happen, happened)The placement is beautiful. My jewelry is gorgeous and I have to say that this truly was the best piercing experience I’ve ever had.

Jo is so fantastic. She pierced my cartilage in three places about a year ago. The jewelry is so high quality, and the piercings have healed beautifully! Jo is incredibly kind and was so knowledgeable in her craft. Highly recommend going in, I cant wait to go back for another piercing soon.

I highly recommend Robot! If you’re not quite sure what to do with ear piercings, I would highly recommend making a consultation appt, they are true artists and skillfully tailor piercing placement and jewelry to the individual. Jo is a wizard and just knew right away what would be compatible with my anatomy, and I appreciated her helpful feedback on my original plans. In short they maintain a high standard for their work which benefits us all. :) I LOVE my newest addition and love the jewelry selection. Cannot recommend enough :)

Tracy is amazing and so caring and kind! My piercing jewelry came out of my septum this morning accidentally, and they were able to let me come in to help me in getting it back in and getting a jewelry change as well. I was so worried I messed up the piercing during its healing phase, but Tracy and Nicolette (sorry if I misspelled your name!) were so kind and compassionate and made me feel so much better about everything. Jo was extremely helpful and she made me feel confident about my nose piercings. We were doing both nostrils and I was scared because of my flat nose. She was super informative about the whole process and she was super nice to me about the placements. She answered all of my questions. This place is extremely clean and is kind. Robot should be your go to, only place for piercings. There is no excuse to go to a Claire’s and get your ear pierced when you’re over the age of 30 and honestly, don’t take your kids to Claire’s either.The staff is professional, thoughtful, and delightful to work with. Been tattooed by Austin a few times already. This lad is top class. Very professional and adaptable and knows what he is doing. Ive flown out specially from Singapore to get coloured by him on my accident scar after my first go around with him over 3 years ago during my first visit to Portland. He has given me specific advise on how to care for a tattoo closeby such a sensititve area and wouldnt tattoo over the scar for a minimum amount of time with the healing still in progress. Hes not a reckless artist and looks out for his customers first. Not the cheapest but solid tattoos arent cheap- youre paying for quality and experience and precision. The only artist Id visit in OR!

They did a great job with my helix piercing. Jo is super professional and gentle- drew the spot on my ear where the piercing would be for me to verify. Their after care instructions are really thorough. Also, they have a great selection of jewelry; really nice dainty gold pin type earrings. 🙂

Great experience!! I scheduled an appointment to have my navel re-pierced after I thought it had closed up a year ago. When I arrived, the piercer, Jo was awesome! She was quick to explain that there was a good chance my piercing wasn’t closed and we wouldn’t need to re-pierce it at all! She was able to get new jewelry in almost painlessly! She ended up saving me money, time, & pain! I’ll definitely be back :)

I had a very comfortable and fun experience getting my nose double pierced. Everything was sterile and the piercings were nearly painless! Attached is a picture of me over a month post healing. This is the best piercing experience I have ever had and it healed beautifully! Have already recommended them to friends for piercings 😸

The person up front as I walked in was very friendly. My piercer, Jo, was also friendly and very comforting during the whole piercing process. She gave me a lot of helpful information which eased my nerves and she answered all my questions which left me feeling very heard. Over all it was a great experience and I definitely plan on going back for more piercings.

A long overdue review, but one well-earned. everyone inside of this shop is beautiful, warm, and kind. as a Black woman, i felt so affirmed and lifted up in love, and i carry that experience in my heart to this day.additional shout-out to their Covid safety. so much respect for people who follow the science.i went in to get my nostrils pierced — one for the fourth time, the other for the first. so clearly im no stranger to this piercing, but this is the cleanest ive ever healed. no keloiding. no bumps. minimal swelling. no scars. nothing. theyve been perfect.what are you waiting for? schedule your appointment. youre gonna be mad you waited this long.

Honestly, if you want a professional and gorgeous tattoo, hit up Austin Rose. He did a piece on me the other day that I cant stop staring at- Im so in love with it! He works quickly, his art is beautiful, and hes very friendly and easy to get along with. In Portland especially, there are a plethora of artists to choose from, and very few (in my experience) are as skilled and knowledgeable as Austin.The vibes at Robot Piercing and Tattoo are pristine. I cannot recommend this artist highly enough.

Got my nostrils pierced here. It was super fast and straight forward, i was in and out in less than 20 minutes. They gave me good thorough info about aftercare too. The store was really clean looking and they had tons of jewelry options and cool robot figures lining the walls! This place is definitely a piercing place first and foremost so if you are here for a needle jab you will get great and fast service!

I went here for a helix piercing, and it accidentally got torn out a few months later (totally not their fault). I needed someone to look at it so obviously I called Robot right away since they had done the original piercing (and told me to call them if anything happened). The person I spoke with was pretty uninterested, told me they wouldnt be able to see me till the next day (at which point the piercing definitely would be closed) and wished me good luck 😂. I called two other shops right after and they were super helpful, offered me tons of advice over the phone about what to do, and went above and beyond to make sure they could see me that day so it didnt close. Glad to see that Adorn and Straight to the Point have more concern for Robots customers than Robot does. Skip the touristy location and go to a real shop.

Recently came here for a double nostril piercing and had a really positive experience! Shop has a nice atmosphere and lots of jewelry options. I had Jo do my piercings and she thoroughly talked me through the process along with proper aftercare. Appreciated the safety protocols taken and cleanliness, would definitely come here again! : )

I got my nostril and helix pierced here and let me just say that I had the best experience. Jo was amazing; explained everything, made suggestions, answered all of my questions, and so kind and thoughtful. I really appreciated the shops cleanliness, covid guidelines, and vibe. Got a tattoo from Renee 3 or so years ago. It was my first tattoo so I did not think much about it at the time, but she was very unprofessional. I gave them a rough design for a small tattoo a month or so in advance and they agreed on creating the final design based off this. On the day of my appointment, Renee shows up 30 minutes late. It’s fine, I understand traffic can be bad, but they proceed to tell me they quickly drew my design in the middle of the night last night and proceed to show me a shoddily drawn design that resembles little of what I showed her in my earlier communications. I ask them to redo it and tell them what I had originally wanted. Renee appeared annoyed about having redo the design. It was hard for me to force her to do that but this is something that is going to be permanently put on my body. Maybe this was partly my fault for not following up on my design to make sure it was how I wanted prior to my appointment - but I found the whole experience to be unprofessional. I still have the tattoo now, I don’t hate it but I don’t love it. I hope she hasn’t done this to other people.

I really love the environment of the place. Super welcoming and really kind staff. Piercing was gone just like that and I was already loving it.However my real problems is when I came back home.I lost one of the ball ends for my piercing twice since the person didn’t tighten it enoughThankfully I found it those times but I had to adjust my piercing a lot which was a big no no in my bookOfc I don’t blame anyone, everyone was super duper nice and welcoming, especially the person doing my piercing. And I really like how they have an IG account for people who come in. Will recommend but just warning. Keep your eyes out on your ball ends if you get a septum piercing or else you’re gonna have a “fun” timeI would give it a 3.5 if I could but I decided to round up to a 4 star

For my 13th birthday I got my lobes done and then I came back for my 14th birthday to get my helix pierced. Tracy was my piercer both times. I highly recommend. She was so kind, professional and great to talk to. It didn’t hurt at all. Tracy told me how to clean my piercings and gave me great advice. Super easy. Robot piercing and tattoo is AMAZING!

I got my septum pierced a couple weeks ago and I absolutely love it. The counter staff did a great job of making me feel welcome and Jo (the piercer) made me feel very calm and at ease. Not only is my septum ring placed perfectly, she did it super quickly and was very swift. The shop is very clean, and the jewelry is the best quality out there. Will definitely be going again.

I stopped in to Robot Piercing early this afternoon, after chemotherapy, to purchase a couple of retainers to wear during an upcoming MRI tomorrow and surgery next week. Robot was in close proximity to the cancer center so I decided to head over.I walked in to the shop with a smiling face, but upon entering, I was immediately faced with such extremely negative energy. I introduced myself, stated that I had recently relocated from out-of-state and what I needed for my upcoming medical procedures. I also mentioned that I was referred to their shop by several people in the community. The reception person was very cold. While they replied that they do have retainers in stock, they were now closing for lunch and I would have to come back another time. I mentioned all I needed was to purchase the retainers. Another person came out from the back room and also stated that they were closing for lunch. I practically pleaded that all I needed to do was make a purchase which would be fast. That person then stated that I needed to make an appointment. I asked an appointment to purchase jewelry? They again stated that they are very busy and I needed to make an appointment. I stated Im here now and simply need to buy something. They then stated that they could possibly get me in after 4 pm today. I was already feeling nauseous after having chemotherapy and could not wait around - especially being immunocompromised due to my treatment and not wanting to catch an infection prior to my surgery next week. I stated I walked a long way and dont understand why no one wants to help me. They then stated that they would help me, but I needed to make an appointment. No other customers were in the shop and it could have been a quick sale. As a small business owner myself, I would have have taken the time to make a sale.Robot Piercing lost out on a quick sale and what could have been a loyal, long-term client for piercings and extensive tattoos which I already have prototypes for. Their cold attitudes and negative energy were extremely disappointing.After I left, I called Straight to the Point and spoke to Mika who was exceedingly kind and saddened by the experience I had at Robot. Mika apologized, stating that they did not have any retainers in stock, but if I was able to acquire a set in the community, Mika would place them for me at no charge. I was able to purchase a set and I will have them placed on Friday. While I was disappointed by the horrible experience at Robot Piercing, its comforting to know that there are kind people within the community who are willing to help, especially someone who really needs support and encouragement during my trying health situation.

Excellent artistry! At first glance Robot Piercing looks like the perfect place for a 1st time piercer :-) both Jo and the staff had big smiles and were glad to have me visit! Jo was absolutely amazing and informative and an expert. Aseptic technique was used without hesitation. I had a 12 year old with me and she watched the whole thing with ease. My only regret is not getting a pic with Jo. And then, to top it all off, I am a visitor from North Carolina and she provided me with a local high caliber shop in my area Warlocks. Just a pinch and I have my gold ball titanium post in just the right place. It looks beautiful. Thanks Jo!!

Immediate lack of customer service. Reception couldn’t have had worse energy in they tried. Piercer immediately had super negative and almost aggressive energy as well. She right away talked right over me about MY history with fainting. Can I explain so you know what you’re working with? I also brought my scooter into the lobby. I don’t feel safe locking it outside since theft is so crazy in Portland. Not a big deal if they don’t want me to but a simple request would have worked. Instead the piercer told me not to do that next time and I said “OK” and then she continued to berate me about how I need to lock it up outside. Thank you for Mansplaining. Anyway, there was no way I was letting that sort of energy near me with a needle. Absolutely cannot understand how there are so many positive reviews. Maybe they’re from other Portland residents that are used to super bad customer service. Not me. They charged my card for a cancellation fee immediately *eye roll

Very kind, welcoming, professional, and sanitary. Jo made me feel super comfortable and was very knowledgeable. Definitely coming back for more piercings in the future.

I got my conch pierced by Jo. It has been healing exactly ash she said it would. Everything she said has been 100%. She is professional and knows what she’s doing. I’m planning to go back for a nose piercing soon!I love that she uses real jewelry and I didn’t have to use one of those ugly starter barbell things they usually do at most places. Absolutely beautiful experience!

Everyone I encountered at Robot was so incredibly helpful and informative too. I was nervous at first but the experience was not at all as painful as I had remembered it being. The shop has a beautiful selection of jewelry and everyone was so personable it made for a great experience. I highly recommend! I love my piercings and will make sure to tell my friends to come here for any of their piercing/jewelry needs.

Painless experience for my first piercing. Super professional and clean. They use hand needles rather than a gun, which is even cleaner. Overall concerned for my well-being, a thorough questionnaire beforehand and fairly priced. $50 total for piercing and small hoop. Took 2 minutes to get pierced (if that) and everyone was very friendly. Good jewelry selection too.

Terrible service! I purchased jewelry ($60) and paid to have it changed out by a piercer. The piercing site is well-established, being over 20 years in place, and had no swelling. The piercer selected a very long post for the jewelry, something I did not notice until Id left the shop. The post is so long that the jewelry (worn in the flat section of ear) turns sideways when I sleep and cuts into my skin. I called the shop and they were completely unhelpful, basically intimating that I did not know what I was talking about and stating that the only option they could offer was that I pay for another post and refitting (and possibly they MIGHT offer a slight discount). I spoke directly with the owner of the shop and her attitude was basically, screw you.P.S. This is in response to the reply to my review. Robots response, which is full of falsehoods, is representative of their poor customer service. I clearly stated to the front of house person AND to the shop owner that I purchased the jewelry at the shop AND paid for installation. I went so far as to name the person who installed the piece. I did not want to return the jewelry, only to receive a new back post of shorter length as the one the piercer used was too long. The option offered to me was to pay for another post for the jewelry and another fee for installation. It does not surprise me that the owner misunderstood and misrepresented so much as, from the get-go, she was defensive and unhelpful.

Theyre phenomenally nice when I went there, my piercings from them look great and healed perfectly. The jewelry they use and sell is high quality, and, now, Im so glad they sell jewelry online. I lost a stud, and my local piercing shop has an awful website/info and no contactless or low contact options for getting jewelry. Happy to keep giving robot my love and money, and cant wait until everything is open and safe again so I can go back to them.

I just want to start out with saying that you get what you pay for. Came in with my husband and a friend and all three of us ended up leaving with new piercings.Jo did a very meticulous job of making sure each piercing was aligned perfectly and anatomically appropriately. It is a very pressure-free shop with a very positive atmosphere. Extremely clean, awesome service, beautiful jewelry. I will definitely be returning for more piercings.There is definitely a reason why this shop is so highly rated.

Jo and the rest of the staff here are friendly, professional, but also casual and inviting. Jo is one of the best piercers in the body mod business, and always makes every mod appointment feel smooth and anxiety free. Covid precautions are taken very seriously here; the shop and tattoo and piercing rooms are extremely clean-kept. There is a good variety of jewelery available, from simple inexpensive wood and glass, to more ornate and pricey stone and metal works. Worth the visit to the Pearl.

Mostly good experiences here. Had a tattoo artist that I didn’t absolutely love, but I don’t think she works here anymore. The belly button piercing I got here is also a little crooked, but that may just be how it healed? Overall very friendly people, and good service, and a great selection of jewelry.

Couldn’t recommend this place more. I’m an adult who hasn’t had her ears peirced and came in for a traditional ear lobe peircing. Despite being a full adult, getting what most toddlers do, Jo was extreamly kind and helpful. She was enthusiastic and walked me through proper care procedures.Some peircing and tattoos shops have staff that make you feel uncomfortable or “not cool” but this is the exact opposite.Couldn’t reccomend more!

The establishment is absolutely beautiful, and the piercing room was comforting instead of feeling sterile. The person I went to get pierced with was feeling nervous, and the piercer went out of her way to absolutely make sure that everyone was comfortable. And, my piercing was nearly painless - absolutely impressed with everything.

We made appointments for my daughters to get their ears pierced. The lady Jo was very rude, refused to serve us with valid identification. Saying we needed birth certificate for our fourteen year old with a school ID. We could have arranged to send the birth certificate later but she sent us away and then tried to charge is for the appointment --60 dollars. Twice she tried to run my card. I locked it because she refused to even work with us at all. Never going to use this place. With all the piercers and tattooers in this town I wont need to. I hope they go out of business. This was their belated birthday presents, she sucks.

I had a relatively new piercing >6mo fall out so I was hoping to get something back in there. They told me to schedule a jewelry change, I did just that and even tough my piercing had in fact closed up Tracy accommodated me and re-pierced me! Great prices, too.

I have gotten two piercings from Jo two years apart and both experiences have been amazing! The most recent piercing I received was during covid times and they are very thorough in their sanitizing and covid protocols. Jo Chase is one of the kindest people I have ever met and my piercings turned out amazing! Jo knows her stuff and I will definitely be returning to robot for my future piercing needs!

I went there to get a cartilage piercing redone and I am more than happy with the result and quality of service I received! The ladies at the counter were so nice and talked with me about what I wanted different from my previous piercing and discussed various placement options due to the shape of my ear. My wait time was minimal (it wasnt overly busy) and once in the room we went to the mirror and together chose the spot for my piercing to go. After that my ear was cleaned and pierced in minutes. Very speedy and well done! The aftercare talk was also detailed and clearly presented. I felt much more informed and clear about how to care for my ear. I definitely recommend this place!!

Walked in to get my septum repierced. Counter staff were SUPER friendly and knowledgeable, piercer was efficient, calm, and left me very at ease. I’ve never been in a more professional shop, and the tattoo artist who was there at the time also talked to us whole we waited and was THE coolest guy. Fastest healed piercing I’ve ever had and it feels so much better now that it’s in the right spot.

I went into Robot to get my Rooke pierced. The counter staff was SO nice. They helped me get checked in and made paperwork super easy. The woman that pierced my ear was FANTASTIC. She had it done before I even realized, and it did not hurt one bit. They had an excellent selection of jewelry for all types of piercings. It was very clean and they used good sterile techniques. I work in a hospital so that is something that is always on my radar. I WILL be returning here. It was a GREAT experience. :D

I came to the business to purchase jewelry, was offered by an employee to have someone place it, then was ridiculed for the placement of my piercing, and was told the jewelry I PICKED OUT was going to look bad on me and was shown jewelry and I didn’t want for MY PIERCING. You then made a snarky remark on me walking in instead of having an appointment, when I was offered by an employee for the fitting! You agreed to the fitting! This reply is so telling to me and should be to everyone else. This isn’t about the jewelry choice I made being unsafe, this is you being, yes, very unwelcoming.

My 2 sisters and I had a wonderful experience at Robot Piercing & Tattoo. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by the gal at the main counter. I cant remember her name, but she was very knowledgeable about everything we had questions about, she helped us w/ all of the paper work, and recommended certain jewelry for the piercings we were inquiring about. Unfortunately my youngest sister w/ us was too young to get a piercing w/ out our parents consent (we were from out of state and probably should have looked up the laws in OR - haha) but the gal at the counter still made my sisters experience pleasurable just by chatting w/ her.Once it was time for the piercings, Andrew was awesome. He too was knowledgeable about any questions we had and went over some of the paperwork too about how to properly take care of our piercings before and after the piercing. If we are ever back into town and want any piercings, I know where to go. Thanks again!!!

This shop is amazing.. they got us in at last minute for my wife to get 3 piercings done. Very professional and a joy to talk to while she decided what get. Very good selection for the jewelry and the piercing went quick. Highly recommend

Edit: I ended up removing both piercings because they didn’t heal well and weren’t placed correctly.The atmosphere and piercers were really kind when I was there and I felt very comfortable getting my nip piercings. My piercer talked about consent and made the experience very good for me! However, after 2 years my left nip piercing would not heal and I had to come to terms with the fact it was not pierced correctly in the first place. It was crooked and was not placed correctly. My right is okay, but my left was definitely not. Even when I reached out because I was concerned, I was just told it looked fine and I needed to upkeep aftercare. I recently took it out because it kept bothering me due to discomfort and embarrassment of the placing, and I plan on getting it repierced somewhere else in the future.

I got my belly button pierced here by Jo and she was so wonderful. I was incredibly nervous, but Jo was able to make the entire process quick and easy. I am definitely coming back here in the future. Everyone there was welcoming and super nice.

This review is for the guest piercer, Chris. My experience with this professional was extremely disappointing and also slightly disturbing. Things started out fine with Chris marking two dots, one on each of my ears, and asking me to take a look to see if I liked the placement. I did not feel like the dots were even, so I asked him to slightly move one dot. He had a problem with this and told me that his dots were even and it would be a mistake to move one. I tried to explain my vision for the aesthetic of the piercings I was looking for, and the look on his face and his attitude told me that many girls looking for ear piercings had explained their silly visions to him a thousand times before and he did not have patience for yet another customer who was wrong. He reluctantly moved the dot, and I liked the placement better! He did not like this and told me the new placement did not look good. I then asked him to slightly move the dot on the other ear just a hair to see if it could more accurately match this one, and he immediately adopted a the customer is always right big fake smile and proceeded to move the new dot so far from the original placement that anyone looking at it would immediately be able to tell it was off. He was trying to prove a point. HIS point. I felt extremely uncomfortable with his behavior and should have walked away, but I politely asked him to please move the dot back to where it was. After he moved it back, I asked him how they looked. He refused to give me his opinion, so then I asked him if it was ok if I got another person to take a quick look. He sighed a giant noticeable sigh, said it was fine, removed his gloves, and sat down like I was being exceptionally demanding. It took me less than ten seconds to ask someone if they liked the placement of the dots. My business took less than ten minutes of his time, and I paid $130 including tip. I have had a lot of piercings and tattoos before, and the experience you have while getting a body modification sticks with you. I cant look at my new piercings without feeling very disappointed and am considering taking them out because of this.

Was able to make a same day appt with Tracy and had an excellent experience. Covid times are not the easiest to move about and do business as normal, so greatly appreciate businesses that work hard (and jump through many hoops) to stay open and serve their customers. Consistently wonderful service from Robot over the years getting new piercings and having jewelry changed out. Highly recommend the friendly and competent team at Robot!

I went there with two friends for their 18th birthdays to get cartilage piercings. This was my first professional piercing, and a wonderful experience! The place is tucked away and full of natural light, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable about everything we asked. I really didnt know what to expect, since I had heard so many stories of cartilage piercings being really painful or that it crunched when the needle went through.This wasnt the case at all! Our piercer was Jo Case, who was really awesome. She explained everything she was about to do, plus was extremely sterile in her practice. She made jokes and made me feel very comfortable getting pierced. The actual piercing was very quick with minimal pain, more just a pinch. I would definitely recommend Robot!

I got my nose pierced there last year and yesterday my sister got her septum pierced, both times they were very friendly and professional. I highly recommend this shop.

I recently got a PA here, and let me tell you, It was a very relaxing experience. I was told exactly what was going to happen, and exactly how I will feel. The shop is extremely clean and very professional, as well as the artists. Its also very Portland, which is always nice.

I’ve had horrible experiances every time I’ve come in there. They make you feel very unwelcome. They make you feel like your in the wrong. I’ve gone in there 3 times ready to spend hundreds and they have talked sales out of me every time. I get the mask situation but they bring it to a new level of rudeness. I will no longer be going there. Don’t waist your time or money.Im not going to type the whole story out but I’m very upset with how I’ve been treated each time I’ve been in there.

I went to get my cartilage piercing today there and they were so friendly! they asked me exactly what i wanted and made sure i knew what i was getting. afterwards , they explained the healing process and how to properly take care of it. the earring was included in the piercing price so it was in total only 40$! 10/10 would recommend!

The folks here are super kind and knowledgeable! Going into new piercing studios can be intimidating for me but they made me feel really comfortable, theyre super helpful and answered all the questions I had and made some great recommendations for jewelry and what not. Ill be back for an6 future piercing needs for sure!

Fantastic experience. Three friends walk in and ask to get rose outlines. Zach had them all done in under an hour, with each piece taking under five minutes. Cleaning and sterilizing took the longest.It was amazing that he was able to do everything on such short notice. Great guy. Good work. Strongly recommend.

Very unmotivated to help you get what youve come there for. I went in for my industrial piercing only to be told (falsely) that I didnt have enough space for one, which again, was incorrect as I now have one and have had zero issues with it AT ALL. The piercer simply didnt want to bother helping me.After this incorrect news that I couldnt get my dream piercing, I was clearly upset, but the person working there convinced me to get my helix as a close second, which I was okay with and thought it would be nice....Expect the fact that they pierced it with a *hoop*, something you should never do if you want your piercing to heal correctly and support different types of jewelry. At the time, I was unaware of this and was reassured by the staff that it would be fine, when clearly it wasnt. Yes, that is a slip on my part, but as trained pressfessionals they should and do know better! They also largely overcharge for their below average work. Save yourself the pain and money and look elsewhere in PDX for your next body mod! Your body will thank you. I have multiple piercing and this one was by far the worst I have ever gotten. If I could give 0 stars, I very much would.

About a year ago, I was visiting a friend in Portland. I was only in town for the weekend, but we both wanted tattoos. We werent able to get appointments at our first choice shops, but we liked the artists galleries and the reviews we saw about Robot, so we both made appointments with Zach. The counter staff was friendly, but it took a long time to even meet Zach and discuss what we wanted. We were both getting relatively small tattoos, so the sketching process was quick.My friend decided to go first. He pressured her to change her design, but she didnt want to. After a few minutes, they did come to a compromise and we decided to go ahead. Her tattoo was going on her ribs, well below the side of her bra. Zach required her to remove her bra anyway, and wouldnt provide her with anything to cover herself with. He said that it was because he didnt like having anything in his way when he was working, and kept insisting that hes a professional and sees female bodies all the time. That really isnt the point--if a client is uncomfortable, he should try to accommodate them. He did close the privacy curtain, but there was another male artist and client behind the curtain with us, and they kept looking over at her. The privacy curtain didnt completely cover the doorway, so people who were walking by could see in anyway. It only blocked part of the waiting room and the street view. Zach also told us that he doesnt allow any male support people to stay with female clients because they get too jealous. I offered to leave, since my friend is aware that Im not straight and dont even identify as female. She wasnt uncomfortable with having me stay and later told me that she didnt feel comfortable being alone with Zach. At that point we should have gotten up and left, but wed already come that far and we both felt guilty about breaking the appointment. Her tattoo was only going to take a couple of minutes, so we just bit the bullet.My tattoo was on my leg, so we didnt have any privacy problems there. My main complaint is that Zach altered my design without telling me he was going to do it. All I wanted was a bird, and the next thing I know it was Oh, Im adding a rock, I hope thats okay. I really didnt want a rock, but hed already started the outline, so what could I do? He justified it by saying that great tattoos have an environment and he wanted it to be a great tattoo instead of just a good one. I did give him artistic license during the sketching process, but once I had approved the sketch, I didnt expect unauthorized changes. Later, he said that he wanted me to send him pictures of the healed piece for his portfolio (I guess thats why he decided to just change the design without asking).When discussing aftercare, Zach recommended a different routine than what the shop suggests. Thats all well and good, but when I told him that I have a wool allergy and didnt want to use a product containing lanolin, he refused to recommend an alternate aftercare regime. When I was buying aftercare supplies, I did find that the product he recommended has been reformulated without lanolin, but it bothered me that he wouldnt even consider an alternate care plan after Id expressed concern that it could cause my skin allergy to flare up and ruin my tattoo.Overall, the work that he did was solid, but his attitude sucked. I wasnt going to bother writing a review because I thought I would get over the less-than-stellar experience, but its been a year and I havent. If you like Zachs work and want to give him free rein, youll probably enjoy your experience. Otherwise, be prepared for him to be stubborn, have zero respect for your boundaries, and ignore your legitimate concerns about something thats going to be on your body forever.

Absolutely amazing shop! I love the vibe of the whole place and its next to one of the best Pizza places in town. ZMCTattoo (Zach) did an AMAZING job! I recommend him and this shop to anyone looking at getting a tattoo in the Portland area. I cant wait to get my next piece done by ZMC!

This was my second time getting pierced at Robot. The first time, they fixed my old earlobe holes that were scarred and crooked thanks to a crappy earring gun piercing long ago, and helped me put in implant grade surgical steel hoops to let my ears heal properly. Recently, I walked in on a whim to get an industrial helix (3 cartilage piercings). They were more than accommodating, the process took no more than 15 minutes from walking in to walking out. I was a weenie about the pain by the 3rd piercing, and another employee came in and made some smalltalk with me to distract me, which was really nice. Pricing was great too! I will be sure to be back to buy more high quality jewelry from them (and maybe another piercing or two).

I had a great experience at this shop with Butterz McLoven. I was on vacation here and decided to take my cousin to get a matching tattoo for her graduation present. They made sure to be very clear about what I wanted, where I wanted it, and how much it would cost. Since it was my first tattoo she made sure to prepare me for the whole experience. I would highly recommend this shop since they are reasonably priced and they are great people.

I had a great time having Austin tattoo the start of my Mandalorian tattoo. He was funny, easy to talk to and very accommodating. He let me pick a show to watch while he tattooed me. (Which I thought was a sweet touch cause sometimes you dont always wanna listen to 80s rock music for 3 hours straight) Ive looking forward to finishing this piece and see where the next ideas take us. Highly recommend 👌

Was welcomed pretty warmly to begin, however because I’m under 18 they require a birth certificate which, I mean, cmon, no one has a copy of. We did supply ID (my legal guardian and I), social security documents (to prove she is my mother), as well as medical bills to further prove our relationship. We had our passports, but it still wasnt enough. We asked to speak with the owner after they said it was policy, however they kept saying, quite condescendingly, that the owner wouldn’t take any calls until the next day, which obviously is an incredible inconvenience. One of the employees was quite patronizing and rude, don’t think I’ll ever go again or recommend it.

I really wanted to love this place but unfortunately it didn’t work out :( I initially went in to find a hoop for my ear. I drove 30 minutes because I heard great things about the shop. When arrived to shop for a hoop (in the permitted browsing/ shopping time window) I was told that I needed to make an appointment so that a piercer could size my piercing and tell me what size hoop I needed. I was disappointed, but went home and made an appointment. Showed up for my next appointment for a different person to visually guarantee what size hoop I would need (so I didn’t need this second appointment) and tell me if I want a hoop in this size I would need to special order but that she could not help me, I needed to do this via email. Two trips to a piercing shop with different answers from different people and no services provided :( neither person I spoke to seemed very interested in helping me and did not respect the time I spent making appointments and driving to the shop.

Got my eyebrow done just today and it went great Tracy was wonderful and it was done in like 10 mins

Zach at robot tattoo took a deposit from me to create a tattoo art. Booked an appointment 1 month later without showing me a final design. I asked for the final 1 day prior to appointment just to be sure that i want it.The man re-scheduled appointment for 3 weeks and then said he cant work with me and kept the deposit.He is a thief and a lazy artist. Stay away.

The piercer wouldnt let me decide where i wanted my monroe placed. It hooks on my gums because she wouldnt put it up by 1 or 2 mm. If i hadnt driven an hour and a half i would have just waited till someone would listen to what i wanted.
