I got my first tattoo here and it was amazing! I was nervous at first but the people there were very friendly and I felt safe in their hands! I’d highly recommend, whether it’s your first time or your hundredth time getting a tattoo!Mine was with Isaiah and he was awesome! Very friendly, easy to talk to, and a good soul in general! He was also recommended to me by someone else for being pretty gentle and I completely agree with them.If the staff are reading this, you guys were great. Thank you so much!

I have had two fantastic piercing experiences at Black Hole. Everyone there is so knowledgeable and are willing to take the time to answer any and all questions that you have. The environment is very friendly and welcoming. I also appreciate the large selection of jewels that they have to chose from, even for first time piercings. Really great shop with kind people. We had a really nice piercing experience.Shane helped my teen find the perfect jewelry for her nose piercing. They were kind, helpful and patient as my daughter was picking out her jewelry.Being that my teen is new to piercings this could have been a stressful experience but it was the opposite.Steven was our piercer and he’s incredibly thorough and communicates with you that whole time. He’s particular about placement which I appreciate. He’s professional but not stuffy, and makes the piercing experience good one for people of any age. I would Absolutely recommend the shop to everyone.

Amazing experience with Steven and Shane! My teen came for a septum piercing and the entire experience was so good! Shane was delightful and so kind in helping us pick out jewelry. Then Steven came along for the piercing and is such a great piercer! Steven was kind, patient, funny, I can’t say enough good things! Steven explained the process clearly to my (very anxious) teen, kept their mind occupied, had us laughing, and relaxed. They had potential for complications due to scar tissue and interesting anatomy but Steven navigated it perfectly. Will be coming back here for any and all future piercings to see these two delightful humans!

Got my lobes and helix pierced by Steven, he was very kind and thorough. He was extremely patient while I decided on correct placement. Steven did a phenomenal job with the piercing, did not hurt at all. Provided my friends and I very thorough aftercare instructions and made us feel like we could come back if we had any sorts of concerns. Overall, extremely pleasant experience with both Steven and Shane, would 10/10 recommend.

I’ve personally had my nipples done 3 times (they kept falling out and healing) I brought my sister here to get hers done (we’d never been here before) and I have to say out of all of the places I’ve seen nobody has been so kind as Austin! He put on her favorite artist, he was genuine and made soft conversation. I like that I was able to be in the room with her. Even though it wasn’t a woman piercer, Austin made everyone feel more comfortable and secure than any woman piercer I’ve ever had. He did a wonderful job 1000/10

I haven’t used any earrings in my lobe piercing for probably 5-6 years and the last time I tried to put something in myself I was met with a lot of resistance in my ear.I decided to call a professional rather than essentially pierce myself and potentially infect myself as well.Came on Google, found black hole, called and received AMAZING customer service and information about what I might expect (either stretching the channels or doing a full re-pierce). Tons of info, kind, patient, and I felt very informed.Booked and appointment online and went in a few days later. I was met with the same helpful, friendly, and informative attitude.My piercing pro was relaxed and extremely professional and thoroughly explained the process and what he was doing step by step.VERY CLEAN. VERY FRIENDLY. Nice selection of safe jewelry.

I enjoyed the excellent customer service and the highly skilled piercer. I originally wanted to get an industrial and he explained to me why the anatomy of my ear wont work for the piercing, but said we could do a custom bar to make it appear similar to an industrial. Glad he could make it work for me!

I got my ears pierced (2 helix piercings) super cheap in Peru recently and went in to this shop to get the jewelry changed out for better jewelry. Austin was super helpful and informative about what I can expect from the healing process. I inquired about a belly button piercing too and he helped me realize I need to wait (given my summer plans) and come back in the fall. Looking forward to coming back for that! Thanks :)

I came in wanting to change my lip piercings from studs to rings after 10 years. I stopped by on a whim in the evening without an appointment thinking I would just stop in to look at jewelry and change it at home by myself. Well the piercer Austin was super helpful and found the perfect sizes for both rings immediately and was even able to squeeze me in to change them for me. It was a quick and painless change and Im super happy with the rings now!

Last week a group of friends and I went to get piercings together. We had a ton of fun hanging out with Steven. The staff member who worked with us on scheduling and picking out jewelry was so patient and kind as we took our time picking out jewelry. 10/10 for these folk!

I got my nose pierced with Austin and it was truly a five star experience! He was very kind and at ease, and made sure I was aware of what was going on at all times. He was also very helpful with answering questions. Both him and Christina were super organized and made it easy and fun. I love my piercing and would not have gone anywhere else to get it done!

I went in to Black Hole on Friday 06/14/24 for a philtrum piercing and to have nostril jewelry placed in by DamianAfter about two days it started becoming really apparent that the philtrum piercing was very off center and angled. The back of the jewelry was rubbing on only my right front tooth instead of sitting in the center.I went back into the shop where a staff member and Damian agreed that it was crooked. I went back to have the jewelry removed so I could let it heal to hopefully be able to pierce it again. I was told that it would look better once the swelling went down. I do not agree that less swelling will fix a piercing that was not done correctly. I asked them to refund just the cost of the piercing and that I would keep the jewelry as I did not feel comfortable having someone from the shop try to pierce it again after having it done like this the first time. I was told I would not be able to receive a refund as I had walked out of the shop with it the day of.I am disappointed in how they handled the situation. I do not take body modifications lightly and feel like they should have handled this matter with more respect for my time, money and body. I do not feel like I was asking too much by requesting they make this situation right in a way that was satisfactory for me. I overall cannot in good faith recommend this shop to anyone if this is how they chose to handle these situations.

My sister and I came in for nostril piercings and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! The person at the front desk was really welcoming and helpful. Steven, our piercer, was a delight. Very funny and attentive to how we were feeling. I’d give ten stars if I could for all the glizzy talk

Went in with my boyfriend to get both of our ears pierced- Austin was warm, funny, had excellent music taste, and was above all else extremely professional and respectful! We had a great conversation and so much fun for both of our first piercings. Would and will absolutely get piercings done by him again.

Austin. Is the man! Like butter. Got a piercing to fix one that didnt take. It went so smooth and easy didnt even feel it. It was expensive with hardware but completely worth it to have my ear pierced correctly. Its taking wonderfully this time.

Austin did such an amazing job on my dermal ! Such a sweet guy, he made the whole process very smooth and enjoyable :) I can tell he loves his job, you can trust him to give ya a good laugh and an amazing piercing (surprisingly it didnt hurt after the piercing was done so he doing something absolutely correct!). Piercings are upstairs, and tattoos are downstairs. If you go for a piercing, go upstairs.Awesome down to earth people, great service.We were in town for our anniversary, and they managed to squeeze us in for last-minute roman numeral tattoos and some nipple piercings.Will definitely come back if Im in town.

The best piercing experience I could ask for!! Austin is everything you would look for in a great and experienced piercer. Austin was so friendly and took his time to make sure that I was comfortable during the piercing and that it was perfect for me. Highly recommend this place for all piercing needs.

Tattoo seekers be wary. I inquired about a tattoo from one of their artists named Isaiah Fasske. The process to get started required an Instagram DM rather than an organized intake form. After talking out my ideas, I was quoted around $500. Due the misalignment on the value of their art, I shopped around, and I was able to get exactly what I wanted from Lady Luck Tattoo for less than half the price that lovely Isaiah quoted me.Please dont buy into inflated egos, and instead, respect the effort it takes to generate your own income and shop smart. Be kind to your yourself and your wallet, especially in these tough times.

Kudos to Austin for helping me out! Felt like a very trauma informed experience. I don’t write reviews often but my experience here was so great that I wanted to make sure the staff here were acknowledged. Super friendly staff, very gentle, educated, helpful and had a relaxed environment too. Did not feel rushed which was an important aspect I was looking for. Really validated all of my questions and concerns which I greatly appreciated. Gave me a free consultation after getting a new piercing done elsewhere. Highly recommend. I’ll definitely be coming back if I need anymore support for my current piercings or if I get anymore done in the near future. Thank you so much again for all of your help, I really appreciated it. Some of the best customer service I’ve ever received that felt very authentic. I’ve only been to the east Portland location but view their company very highly now. Definitely a hidden gem that should be one the first places people from or visiting the Portland area should consider when getting a new piercing.

My son got his nose double pierced here a bit ago. He absolutely loves it. The metal is high quality and will last a lifetime. Their prices are very fair and they do such a high quality job. All of the piercers and staff there are incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Especially for kids getting piercings. They walk you through it the entire time and check in with you every couple of seconds.

This place ruined my daughters 18th birthday...The lady at the upstairs front counter was very pleasant and informative. She answered all of our questions and did a really good job of making my daughter feel very comfortable.We asked her if we could record inside the piercing room & she told us yes, that shouldnt be a problem, but just make sure to pass it by the piercer.We let her know my daughter turned 18 that day, but she didnt yet have ID other then school ID. We were told that wasnt a problem & we would just have to treat the situation as if she was a minor which technically she still was cause she was born in the late evening...We filled out the paperwork and were introduced to Steven the piercer...Immediately, Steven had a terrible attitude...He was impatient & did a great job of making you feel like you were an inconvenience. Anytime we asked a question, he was brash and seemed irritated that we would bother which such a thing... How dare we waste his time 🤦‍♂️Once we were back in the piercing room, we asked if it was OK to record as the lady at the front desk told us it would be ok...Steven very rudely cut off the question & in a raised voice said No! Its not ok& then followed it up full of sass THANXXX FOR ASKIN *multiple eye rolls*At this point, everyone in our group started looking at each other... This guy clearly had a problem with us or was generally just a miserable human & was making everyone super uncomfortable.He asked my daughter to come over to him. She assumed he meant on the table in front of him, so she hopped up and sat on the table in front of him, and immediately he got irritated again...Ugh, No... I didnt say on the table. Stand in front of me *still all the sass & eye rolls*My daughter now super uncomfortable gets off the table and approaches him slowly in an attempt to find where exactly he wanted her to stand... He got impatient and grabbed her by the hips and pulled her into position. My daughter looked at me & mouthed what the frick?He used a pen to draw on her navel where he planned to do the piercing & asked her to look in the mirror. As she was looking in the mirror, Steven abruptly left the room. Among ourselves, we all started asking each other what this guys problem was.Steven then returned to inform us he wouldnt be performing the piercing because she was 18 & didnt have ID 🤦‍♂️If she was still a minor he could perform the piercing, but because shes now an adult he cant 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️He lectured her and told her it was her job to be responsible enough to have an ID & how if she went to hospital they wouldnt even see her without one 🤔 Not true at all, hospitals dont turn anyone away, but OK Steven 😆My daughter started crying and ran out of the building. The lady at the front desk clearly felt really bad and was very apologetic for Steven & his reprehensible & just plain flat rude behavior...Like even if a shop has those weird ID policies what kind of clown show is being operated that we were permitted to get as far as we did in the process before being told it was an issue... Should have been dealt with when we originally called to ask, or even in the lobby while doing the paperwork...Anyways we easily found a different location that wanted our business, treated us with respect & only charged a small fraction of the $135 the blackhole wanted for a simple navel piercing!Pretty sure its called the blackhole because they fully intend on leaving your spirit & wallet looking like oneDo yourself a favor and avoid this place!

Best piercing experience ever. I forget the names of the two people there when I went, but they were so thorough talking through gauges with my friend and giving him options, and my nose piercing was so clean I havent even had any swelling and the placement is perfect. Sanitary, well spoken, welcoming, limited jewelry selection for pizazz, but plenty of beautiful basics. I got a star stud pierced and a septum ring replaced and was out the door at $120 + $20 tip, which I think is very reasonable for the experience and expertise :) Will come back here next time I go to Portland and want a piercing!

I have been pierced at Black Hole a couple of times, but I recently had a really great experience with Austin. I was having multiple piercings done in one visit and he made sure I was comfortable, aware of what he was doing at all times, and educated on both the piercing and healing processes. Austins confidence and ease made it so I didnt feel nervous in the slightest. The whole experience was quick, efficient, and mostly painless. Truly a 10/10 experience. I will definitely be returning for more pieces in the future.

I made an appointment to get my first tattoo and left with three. Kyle was a total dream to work with. I was SO nervous and he made me feel so comfortable. I cannot wait to plan more tattoos. He is so sweet and makes sure youre comfortable and also his work is absolutely phenomenal. Sasha re-inserted a lobe and a tragus piercing I had out for about 4 years. She was able to get both back open while being communicative and kind. The guy who did my paperwork was also really nice and clear about what my options were. Overall great experience.

I had my second industrial on my left ear done, and was helped by Otto at the front desk with Jack as my piercer! Both of them were SO professional and helpful, cracking jokes and making conversation. It was Jacks first time doing a duo industrial and they killed it! I am in love. Thank you guys!! ❤

This experience was flawless, from arrival to exit. Clean space with friendly staff. Choosing my nostril jewelry was easy and quick, there was a lot of choice and Colter my piercing professional was calm, kind and gentle. It didnt even hurt!They give you a great big bottle of after care spray, and even do the exchange to a smaller bar for only $15. The piercing price of $45 didnt include any extras - like the jewelry and fees so be prepared to pay a little more than you perhaps originally think. But its worth it. The whole experience was wonderful. I will be back and I will be recommending Black Hole to any one I speak to that wants a piercing. Great experience. Thank you!😊

Piercing experience 10/10, austin was great very funny and a great piercer. Only con was that on the website to book an appointment it said it was gonna be $45 without jewelry + saline spray included and was expecting the final price to be around $75 maybe, nope. It was $110 so just be warned that it will be much more expensive than what you were expecting. Other than that it’s a great shop with great people!

Initial interactions with the counter person felt a little awkward but as our conversation continued that eased up. The piercer was great and easy to chat with and they helped switch out some jewelry that had fallen out the day before. Prices I feel are equivalent with other higher end piercing shops and they have a great variety of jewelry. I would definitely go back!

I had to post a review here about the amazing experience we had! My brother and I went in for a 2 person, earlobe piercing. The staff was very friendly and funny and took lots of time to answer questions and let us try on different studs. As they were piercing our ears, they let us know of everything they were doing and made it super easy. Also very COVID-safe! 10/10 will return for any more piercing and potential tattoo work!

I had a really good experience here and i highly recommend!!!!i only have one other piercing that i got when i was seven and im generally very afraid of needles but Rachel did my septum piercing and she was very kind and reassuring and answered all my questions and walked me through the whole process before and during and it went great :]!! i’m 16 so my mom had to be there and i noticed on the like consent form(?) that if you’re a minor, they have certain parts for the adult you bring with you to sign and certain parts for you to sign so basically only you get to write your name and pronouns (and you don’t have to put your legal name) not your parents and that makes me very happy and i hope it makes other trans people happy too!! i am very happy with my piercing and will definitely go back here if i want to get more :]]

I have pierced at Black Hole 3 times. Once when I was a teenager with my mom to get my nose pierced (it was allowed with parental consent at that time), once in my 20’s to get my lip pierced, and once very recently for second ear lobe piercings. I’ve also been in a handful of times for jewelry or advice. That’s more than 20 years of great service from these people. Every time they have been fantastic to work with, no matter who it is that’s working there. Clean and sanitary equipment and jewelry. Terrific communication about after care instructions and healing time. I will absolutely be back for any and all future piercings. These folks are the best.

I went to Black Hole to get a vertical philtrum with Rachel, and Im super happy with the experience from start to finish.I had a lot of questions about the healing process and jewelry choices, and both Rachel and Veridian were super patient with me and answered all my questions in a knowledgeable, friendly, and professional way.I also recently had some concerns about how it was healing, and they were able to get me in right away to get it looked at by a different piercer, who was really helpful and reassuring and who also took extra time to chat with me about jewelry.Ill definitely keep Black Hole in mind for future piercings!

I took my 6 year old to get her ears pierced here this summer. The person helping us was so friendly and knowledgeable. I felt really comfortable that they knew what they were doing and that my daughter was in good hands. We ended up staying there for a good hour at least but it was worth it because my daughters ears looked amazing and to this day they have not gotten infected. It was a great experience and Im thankful for the care we received!

It was awesome! I struggle with a lot of social anxiety. Just being around people is really hard for me but they made me feel really comfortable and safe. Rachel was great. She had a bubbly energy, explained everything thoroughly, told me what to expect and explained everything she was doing as it was happening. My septum piercing looks great and Ill definitely be back for more piercings in the future.

I had a great first tattoo experience with Kyle! He designed a beautiful piece for me based on reference pictures and was patient with the few revisions that I requested. I enjoyed chatting with him as he worked on the tattoo, and he was great about checking in with me to see how I was doing and making sure I was comfortable. It turned out exactly as I had hoped, super delicate and well-placed! I would totally come back if I pass through Portland again!

Came in today to get my daughters piercing downsized, we didn’t make an appointment and the piercer was “on lunch”. Well he set her up anyway. Such a cool dude who took care of us. Thank you Colter, you’re awesome.

I got my nipples pierced here in July 2019. The person who did it was very quick, clean, and friendly. They made it super comfortable for me to pop off my shirt and keep it off for the appointment, which was really kind! The price was fair and they told me to come back if I have any problems, and said they’d change the piercings for me (after they healed) no charge. Great place with great people!

I got my ears pierced for the very first time (at age 28!) here with Otto. They were really nice and walked me through the whole process. I got a lot of info on how to properly take care of my ears. I visited again about 2 months later as a check-in as well as decreasing the post size and once more another 2 months later to make sure my ears had healed enough for me to change my earrings. Each time was a pleasant and informative visit. Thank you, Otto! My ears look great! I’m definitely happy I went to a professional to get my piercings and not a mall kiosk or Claire’s.

I recently went with my friend to another peircing shop to get their nose pierced and lets just say Im so thankful I went to Black Hole. They were so patient with me, they gave me so much information about my peircing and they took their time making sure I was completely ready for my peircing. I HIGHLY recommend Black Hole.

Kyle did an amazing job on my first tattoo! He was very flexible and patient for letting me choose the exact location I wanted my tat and just a very genuine person. I previously had been to the Beaverton location for my earlobe piercings and I came to the Portland location for my tattoo. Both have amazing artists and piercers, they have all only been super welcoming, easy to talk to, and both places are very clean!

Thankful for the amazing person who helped me out in a pinch. My nose ring of 8 years fell out in my sleep and I couldnt remember my hoop size. Im mostly homebound so its really hard to go in to make sure the size is right but the associate/piercer helped me figure it out over the phone so my partner could pick a new hoop up for me. I almost forgot to add a review but I was so impressed by the customer service and willingness to help me, when it was own fault for not knowing my size, that I had to come write this. Thanks again!

Went by today to get a piercing and was incredibly pleased with my experience. Ive always been uncomfortable going to tattoo/piercing shops because I feel like most are really pretentious. Not here, the entire staff was super friendly and welcoming. Incredibly happy to give you all of the information you need about all of the options you have. Its been 5 or so years since I last got a piercing and I was really stoked about the service I got there today. Matte was awesome, just a friendly guy who seems to love his job. The lady up front was awesome too, we had good conversation. Wish I got her name but she was fantastic!

The staff were incredibly helpful and respectful! They are taking health precautions very seriously, and the studio was very clean. They helped me pick out new and safer jewelry than what I had been wearing, and Rachael helped my replace all of it as well as stretch my ears. I felt very comfortable and will definitely be going back in the future!

I got my septum pierced by Rachel and had a wonderful experience. It barely even hurt and I felt very comfortable and cared for. Im pretty sure I got pierced by one of the best out there. It was so much better than I was expecting. Also, my piercing is healing up so quickly...

I had great customer service today and Colter was very gentle/informative during my piercing change. I have had excellent experiences with both the Beaverton and Hawthorne Black Hole locations. Id recommend this place to a friend and will be going back for my next piercing!

3 weeks ago I scheduled an appointment to get dahlia piercings and 1-2 others. Shortly after scheduling I contracted covid so I followed the website’s cancellation/re-booking link twice to try and reschedule and it didn’t work. Then I called the store twice and eventually spoke with someone who said that I don’t even have an appointment with them at all.The day of the appointment I was harassed with texts and emails from the shop and received a text message from an employee telling me that the piercer doesn’t perform dahlias so I have to pick something else to get pierced. Huh???As I said, I had already gone through the motions of rescheduling my appointment numerous times up to this point, so this was super frustrating. Additionally, why am I being told that I can’t get a piercing (that I scheduled an appointment for 3 weeks ago) two hours before the appointment time?? even though I can’t come in today, that’s so unprofessional.I expressed my frustration to staff and was met with an incredibly rude and condescending response. I absolutely will not be returning to this studio nor will I be recommending it to anyone in my circle. stay away if you want an easy and transparent experience.and to the black hole studio staff: please keep this review in mind the next time you want to be a douchebag to a client who was gonna pay you $250+ for services.

I had a GREAT experience at Black Hole! I came in on a Tuesday and I happened to be able to walk right in (the timing was luck, because after I was done, there was a small line). The jewelry was gorgeous, if on the pricey side, but I knew I wouldnt need to be concerned about the quality.But the best part was the actual piercing! I was getting my first cartilage piercings ever, and I was nervous. Rachael handled it like such a pro! She was thoughtful about placement and guided my breathing during the piercing... Just so great!! Kyle did so awesome on my moth tattoo! He was very educated and communicative and knew exactly what he was doing. He made sure if fit just right on my arm; evened perfectly. Recently got a white ink tattoo here and the experience was great. It didnt hurt (Im weird, I know) and the artist talked to us the entire time he was doing it. He did a fantastic job and was super friendly and interesting! Next time I get a tattoo, Ill definitely be returning here. The whole place was clean and professional. Emily did my consult when we walked in last night. They do take walk ins on piercings up till 730 but we came in at 8. Even though they were closed they both took the time to talk with us and did not rush us in the least. We came back today at a set time. Emily did a great, quick job on my industrial piercing.Ive had other body and ear piercings and this was my best experience for sure. I will go back and will be using them to order good jewelry for my piercings. I am likely to get a tattoo there as well.Update: I have now have had two tattoos there and have loved working with Xavier. Since my original review I have been pierced by Kyle as well. Its all good :)

$150 is excessive for two ear lope piercings. It would of all been fine and dandy if I didnt get the itemized bill and had charges that were never discussed. What was told to us was that the earrings were $25. Little did I know or was told that each post for the back of those $25 earrings were an additional $15ea. Also, while wrapping up the session we were told that the cleaning solution they were going to give us was actually charged. I dont mind paying the ten dollars, its the lack of communication that what they meant by giving was charging to give. I just hate hidden feeds. Just be forward and disclose everything. Maybe Im naive about the whole piercing industry but that was my experience. I wouldnt recommend unless they change their practices and disclose all cost up front.

So I went in to get my tongue pierced and I was a little nervous, but Matteo did a wonderful job. He made me feel comfortable and it was quick and as painless as possible. I love Black hole and had a few of my piercings done here. I will continue to come back and get more. Everyone is extremely nice if you have never been and you want a piercing definitely go check them out. :D

My sister and I got tattoos together at Black Hole, and it was a fantastic experience. Isaiah and Nathan were our artists, and both were really great. They were happy to accommodate us for a walk-in, and were really patient while we deliberated. We came in knowing that we wanted to get matching heads of garlic, but without a specific image. Isaiah helped us create an image we both loved (and was happy to re-draw it several times). Nathan and Isaiah both did a phenomenal job with our ink, they were really nice, and made us feel extremely comfortable. I will definitely visit Black Hole again.

I love this shop. I’ve gotten my nose pierced here and anytime I had questions or a problem they were glad to help. They have helped me change out my nose ring and suggested jewelry that would work with my ultra sensitive skin. I even came back for a tattoo and they did an amazing job!! The Portland location is my favorite! So nice, and they always do a great job! I’m not that excited to go to the Beaverton location, they seem more snippy and just rude and lack customer service skills. However I will definitely go back to the Portland location!!

I had my septum pierced at the Glisan location this past week.The shop was clean, and everyone is still masked up indoors.Colter was professional, explained the whole process, and was a perfectionist about his work. I have a crooked septum and a small sweet spot. The result is straight and the process was almost painless. I would recommend Black Hole & Colter to anyone looking for a new hole.

This if for the NE Glisan location. THIS PLACE IS AWFUL. Bottom line is, the longtime piercer here is unprofessional and extremely rude. You will not be treated kindly and they dont care about your piercings and are not sensitive to your safety or healing thereafter.A year ago I got my n*pples pierced here, a totally fine experience, nothing special, an in n out kind of style, decent jewelry selections but nothing great. 6 months later I go to downsize my hardware, calling to make sure someone would be there to anodize the steel. I show up and they tell me I have to rebook because no one can do that… so a week later I show up and this is the person this review is for, hi, you suck. They tell me that anodizing the steel would be pointless because over time it will wear off and no one will see it and laughed at the idea of my request. So they convince me (probably because they simply didnt want to do it) not to and i get the jewelry changed out, feeling too weird and discouraged to advocate for the choice I requested for MY BODY.A month later it falls out and I call to get in to swap it and explain im concerned it will get infected or close up. They say theres nothing they can do, theyre booked and that no its not going to get infected but it will probably close up and then HANG UP ON ME before i can ask about scheduling tomorrow or for recommendations on other shops. What they dont realize is that I am a dancer/adult entertainer and the barbells ARE visible to the public which is why I wanted them anodized and that they WILL get infected because im in close contact with other humans, bacteria, and thus deal with frequent clothing removal and irritation. I call ritual arts and they were very sweet and said they were booked today but happy to get me in tomorrow! 10 minutes later black hole calls and says they have a 6:45 available and i have to reiterate that no, I will be at work. Then they tell me to try ritual arts, which I find hilarious. I say, they were booked today too but they helped me out and were a lot nicer but thanks for hanging up on me earlier. Then they straight up deny it and childishly, gaslight me and say “I didnt hang up on you earlier but I will now.” So I guess steer clear of this place and go to ritual arts instead based on my unfortunate experiences here and even the rude persons suggestion : )

Worst piercing experience ever!!! Beware of Rachael! With a septum piercing you usually sit in a chair or lay down, having backing is important! She had me on a medical chair with no backing. She told me she would verbally say out loud when she was about to pierce me, she did not and instead told me to breath in, I guess that means it’s go time. I flinched immediately from the unexpected stab to my nose, after her making me feel bad for flinching she pierced my nose.I left out the overwhelming amount of conceitedness this women had, very belittling.

The people here were great! Rachael is very gentle and knowledgeable! When I want more piercings, Ill definitely go back to her!Because of how awesome the people are and how comfortable the place is, Ill highly consider going to them for future tattoos, too.

This place is absolutely amazing! I went here to get my upper cartilage pierced on my ear and everyone there was extremely welcoming and friendly! I got my nose pierced at another piercing place and the owner was extremely condescending when answering my questions about after care (this was my first piercing so I had a lot of questions) but the man who did my ear (Kyle) was the opposite. He helped me pick out the perfect location by offering me a couple of different placement options (the guy who did my nose gave me one and told me not to argue because he was the expert), Kyle explained exactly what was going to happen and was very quick with the piercing, he also took the time to thoroughly go over after care instructions and answer any questions I had. The location is extremely clean and the staff is so kind and welcoming! I would recommend Black Hole to anyone and plan on coming back for any piercings I get in the future!

Kyle did a phenomenal job with my willow and urn tattoo! It’s perfect and I’m in love with it. I get compliments all the time. He was a clear communicator, easy to work with, and super fun to chat with.

I and two friends came in with no appointment to get three different piercings. We were immediately greeted and helped by an employee who was actually *off shift*! We were pierced by Kyle, who was super friendly, thorough, and patient (we were a bit high maintenance). We are all very satisfied with the staff and their work and would recommend Black Hole to anyone looking for a piercing.

I was really happy with my piercings when I first got them and they seemed to be healing really well. Then about 3 weeks after I got them they started to get infected and because of corona virus and me not being local I couldn’t go in to have them looked at. I tried multiple times to contact the shop and the piercer with no response. I knew I couldn’t get in to be seen at the time but hoped for some direction on my best course of action to keep the infection from getting worse. I was incredibly disappointed that there was literally no help with my after care problems. When you pay as much as they charge you expect better service when you run into a problem. I really wanted to like them, the staff was friendly when I got me piercing but unfortunately the service after was lacking.

Ive come here multiple times for piercings and theyre great. Friendly and professional staff, and a clean environment. Make an appointment though, dont walk in!

Matthew was meticulous about placement, cleanliness, explaining everything- the entire process.He is also just a lovely human being! I enjoyed just chatting with him. :o)The entire process was quick & almost painless. (Just a quick “Damn” for the nose piercing, but not bad at all! Isaiah and Nathan are fantastic! My brother and I walked-in pretty late on a Saturday for matching garlic tattoos and they were really accommodating. We had an idea of what we wanted, but not an exact picture. Isaiah worked with us and even re-drew the stencil when I decided I wanted something a little different. Isaiah did my tattoo - it was my first - and made me feel totally comfortable. He helped me decide where to put it, moved the stencil several times for me, and was just so nice through the entire process.I LOVE the tattoo - it has that botanical drawing look and is exactly what I wanted. He also touched it up for free about a month later. Nathan did my brothers and it also looks great. I would recommend this spot to anyone.

I may have already posted a review but it was when I was pierced by Matteo. On Saturday I went in for a piercing and Rachel was on duty. She was wonderful, didnt rush me, and let me take my time making the decision. The receptionist gentleman is always friendly answering the phone no matter how trivial the question might be. This is my 3rd piercing with Black Hole and I cant imagine going anywhere else.

Oddly enough, I like this place because they told me “no.” I went in wanting another cartilage piercing below a currently angry piercing, and they took one look at it and said, “Absolutely not.” They explained it wouldn’t heal well with two so close to each other, but what they could do was change the jewelry on the angry piercing to help it heal better and I could come back in a few months for the other. It seemed ethical and responsible and I really appreciated it.They also had a decent selection of jewelry for the other piercings I wanted to change out, painlessly helped me size up on one, and were clean and professional. I’ll be back.

I was tattooed by Isaiah and I couldnt have been happier with my experience. Side from the shop being clean, the staff are all very helpful and knowledgable. Of all my tattoos, this one is my favorite. I have people stopping me out in public asking about it all the time. The art work is beautiful. Isaiah is friendly and one of the happiest people Ive encountered in a long time. You can tell he loves what he does and it shows in his work. The time flew by! Dont go anywhere else!!!

I had to get my septum ring out for surgery, they didn’t charge me, came back to put it in, also wasn’t charged. Austin is a gem.

I go the Black Hole for all my piercings and tattoos, theyre friendly, clean, and accommodating and I highly recommend them. My vertical labret was quick and painless, and they also replaced the bar for me when it got too big. Currently waiting to get my new tattoo next week (late March) and Im super excited.

I love Black Hole. I got my nose pierced here and had a lot of healing problems which they definitely helped me through. They really know what theyre doing, and I have never felt like they are valuing my money over what is best for me. If anything, they have encouraged me not to get certain piercings, etc. I wouldnt go anywhere else for a piercing!!

My daughter had three tattoos done here.First ones art was fantastic. The dragon has great detail.The second one had an error in the art. A finger was not connected to the hand.Second one was very badly drawn. Heads were huge in relationship bodys. Looks like a 4th graders drawing.

I have gone to the West side location numerous times before and the East side location is just as friendly. They answered any questions I had and explained things I didnt understand as well as the process. I got a few more opals for my lip piercings as well as got my tongue pierced. I was an enjoyable experience tho it did hurt. I have to say getting my tongue pierced was one of the more painful piercings I have gotten out of the 11 others. I ordered other opals to change the one I have currently in/on my tongue, I dont know how long itll take but it was easy enough. The piercer checked to make sure my anatomy would allow for a tongue piercing and they didnt rush through anything. It was well done and I spent more that I probably should have, but I regret nothing. I cant say nicer things about them. I havent had a bad experience with Black Hole. Im only into day 2 of healing so I cant give all the details yet.

I was nervous to get my nose pierced, as this was my first experience with anything except my earlobes at the mall as a kid. The attitude and friendly staff here really helped me get over my fear. The girl at the front desk was friendly, helpful, FAST (important when youre nervous). Kyle was my piercing dude, and he was very professional, sanitary, tidy, etc. Before I knew it, everything was over and BOOM another life goal knocked out of the park. Like other people said, I do wish they had a larger selection of starter jewelry, but to be fair, once this heals up Ill be able to buy jewelry just about anywhere, the most important part is that the piercing starts off well. Clear aftercare instructions; staff invites you back if you need help or have questions. My husband went back the next day and got a tattoo!

I went to the West Side shop to get my first cartilage piercing -- I wasnt sure what to expect, since Ive never been to a piercing place before. I had a great experience -- everyone was really friendly and cool, the piercing only cost me $30, theres a nice selection of jewelry to choose from, and everything was explained clearly. Emily was really nice and professional, and the piercing was fast and pretty painless. I would totally recommend Black Hole and plan to go back if I ever want another piercing.

Just got conches done by Kyle and it was great. No doubt it hurt, but it was done very professionally, and his confidence helped to keep me relaxed and peaceful. Its not a loud music banging high tension place, and that is perfect for getting a good experience. Kyle is knowledgeable and honest. I definitely recommend him and Black Hole.

1 MONTH AFTER VISIT:My friend and I came here wanting to get tattoos (I got 2, she got 1) and the design I wanted is not what I got. Various details and sections were left off of it. I got left with an extremely uneven design that just looks off. The colors are already messed up and discolored and the lines appear smudged and I just got it less than a month ago. It looks like a toddler gave me a tattoo. Ive taken care of both of my tattoos super well and Im really disappointed with how they look. Ive never had a worse tattoo experience. The guy tattooing us acted like we were annoying because we were the only customers there. I was planning on going and getting a free touch up soon but I definitely wont be back. My other tattoos Ive had for a long time and they still look sharp and beautiful.6 MONTH UPDATE: the tattoos are STILL changing so much, and Im afraid they will just turn into ink blots. I got them only 6 months ago. Its a huge bummer because I was really happy with one of the tattoos at first and didnt think it was possible to ruin something so simple. Still very disappointed that I wasted money here to end up with 2 eyesores on my body. I wish there was a way to get them touched up but they were originally supposed to be dainty tattoos so that wouldnt really work. Im looking into cover ups/removal elsewhere.

I dropped in to BH one evening to see about getting some ink. I was in to set an appointment expecting to be on a waiting list. I was pleasantly shocked when the artist invited me to come back THE NEXT DAY..........not even 5 minutes speaking with the artist and he was set and invited me back within 24 hours.The whole process was smooth and relaxed leaving me feeling like I belonged in the shop. I was extremely impressed with the whole experience. I barely even knew we started. The gun was quiet, the artist kept conversation , and I was relaxed. Other than the weird positions needed to do the work.....I could have sat in the chair way longer than the 2 hours. Im only 2 days out with the new ink, but I have no discomfort or worries over the Tattoo. As long as I quit bumping it and leaning on it.....but hey, thats my problem, right?The work is solid and BETTER than I hoped for!! I have to say......this will be my PDX Artist from here on.

Had my nostril done by Rachael today, what a great experience! Rachael’s got the smoothest follow through that I’ve expierced, very gentle and efficient, barely even noticed! I highly recommend, and will be going here for all future needs.

Friendly, knowledgeable, CLEAN! Only piercings Ive gotten that has not gotten infected, I got here. Rachel was my piercer (I think that was her name, forgive me if thats not it!) and she also gave me the info about a guy who handmakes beautiful natural stone plugs for affordable prices. Once my ears are stretched to where I want them, Im getting lapis stone plugs for them from the guy.

I was a total pain and changed my mind about the jewelry several times. Randy and John were super patient, helpful and friendly. I needed to downsize my jewelry before it was healed completely because it was too long and getting caught up while I tried to sleep. The place that did the peircing (4 weeks ago) refused to change it until two months for healing (I get it, but I seriously couldnt sleep with it anymore). Thanks to Black Hole, Ill sleep well tonight!

Walked in, they were busy with 10 piercings ahead of me. They still got me all signed up and told me they would call me when they were ready for me but also gave me a very accurate time frame. I came back in when they called waited about 5 minutes before they were ready for me. Rachael was very professional and awesome!

I had the worst experience at the portland location. I got a double spiral helix piercing and after 6 months it wasnt healing well. So, I went back to my piercer and he assured me that it was fine. Two years later, I went to a location in Florida just to find out that the piercing was horribly done and needed to be taken out immediately. I wish I had known earlier because I spent basically two and half years in agony...not being able to sleep on the side of the piercing.

Ive been in the shop several times, to buy jewelry, and to have my daughters ears pierced. Ive met many of the piercers, including Andrew, Najwa, Britney and Emily. They are all knowledgeable, and friendly! When I took my daughter to get her ears done, I was very impressed with Emily in terms of how she answered my daughters questions and explained everything. She ended up only getting one ear done the first day, but the shop held onto her other autoclaved CBR so she would have a matched pair. We went in 2 days later and Britney pierced her other ear, she was equally good with kids and professional. Love this shop!

Love this place for how patient they are during the piercing process, the only thing that sucks is no one is ever there to answer your phone calls. And you can’t leave voicemails, there isn’t ever an option or way to. So be ready to call 10x in a row lol.

There was a bit of a wait because there were lots of people. while waiting, I got to pick out my jewelry and go over after care and what to dos and what not to dos. I was very nervous and kyle walked through everything he was doing and why, which helped keep me calm. it was painless And fast and it looks amazing. I almost passed out and he helped me get water and a glucose tablet and made sure I felt (and looked) normal before leaving and again ensured I knew how to take care of my septum. will definitely be going back if I decide to get more((:

Had an overall not fun experience. The piercer felt very curt and like she was annoyed with us. Also the bar she gave was too long after like a week which seems really short amount of time compared to many of the other piercings i have gotten. Also prices on website do not reflect actual total cost.

I just went here to get a nose ring to replace my stud, but I found the person who helped me to be extremely nice and friendly. I dont know much about tattoos and piercings so I always feel a little intimidated in these kinds of shops, but I didnt get that feeling here. Great experience, fast service, and good prices.

I went to get a helix piercing with my friend, two months later I went somewhere else to see if I could get it shortened. The people at the other place told me that they used way too short of a needle and that it wasn’t able to heal. They also told me that the person who originally pierced my ear put the needle in crooked and now I have to wait until the hole closes and get it repierced. (The employees at the other place said that they had to fix a lot of piercings from the black hole). So basically this place is just a painful waste of time and money.

My 11 year old got her ears pierced here. Jack was kind, patient, fast and just did a great job. I recommend for childrens ear piercing 100%.

Ive had my tragus, septum and navel pierced there and I havent had any alignment issues or healing issues at all. The staff were also amazing and I had a different piercer each time.

They did not take back my piecing saying it was tainted by my ears (which was false), they did not replace the earring and they were extremely unhelpful. I hated my experience. Spent a lot of money and was disappointed every time I went in their. Horrible service. Spent over $400 and still not satisfied at all. I will never go their again. And I will tell all my friend not to go there.

I got my septum pierced a few days ago. And my labret pierced here about a year ago. I Looove this place, i dont remember who pierced my labret but he had face tattoos and was very professional, same with Rachel who pierced my septum, very good experience both times and both my piercings are even and perfect.

The folks here may look scary (sorry guys), but they have always been nothing but helpful, professional, and friendly when Im in. Ive gotten assistance here with my septum piercing numerous times and they usually have just the stainless piece I need when I need it. I have had no reason to go anywhere else for my piercing needs.

I waited in line for 20 minutes before rudely being told there was no way to get the piercing I wanted. It would’ve been more understandable if they had provided an alternate option, but I was brushed off before he moved on to the next person.
