They are very accommodating and welcoming here! Jess set up everything quickly and was very clean and sterile!Jess was very friendly and getting my septum pierced with very quick and just a small pinch. Everyone there is so friendly though! I will definitely come back if I decide to get more piercings or get a tattoo finally! Thank you for making it a great experience! I highly recommend everyone goes here if theyre in the Roanoke area.. or even travel here for them!

I did some research on piercing places in Roanoke, and I came across Asylum. The place had great reviews, and a good rating. I went in to get a rook piercing downsized, and my mid helix pierced. Shane was my piercer, and he was super nice and very clean. However, I was very unimpressed by the jewelry. The piercing was pierced with a hoop, and the most knowledgeable piercer will tell you to avoid piercing with a hoop as it is very irritating and causes issues healing. I went back the next day and asked them to change it to a stud because the hoop was very uncomfortable, and they refused to help. I started to get a bump on the piercing that wouldnt go away. I messaged Shane on Instagram and never heard back: its been a week. I then called the shop for advice, and all I got was try not to sleep on it and to spray it with saline. I personally hate spraying saline, I prefer to soak it in sea salt. I was very very unimpressed with how unprofessional they were when it came to help with the healing process. Please please be careful when getting a piercing at this location. Especially if they try to tell you a hoop is your best option.

Had a bad experience with another piercing shop. Asylum helped me out with kindness and professionalism. I have gotten several piercings from them in the past, and I would highly recommend this shop for shy people like myself, they make you feel very welcome!

The people at asylum there are all awesome. Always great going in there and getting my tattoos and percings. One of the best places to go.

I just wanted to state that I think this place is really cool!! I really enjoyed my visit and I love the gumball machine idea and vibe, it’s definitely a place I wouldn’t mind going back for my first tattoo (This was just my own experience with getting my ears pierced a little over 3 months ago. Tattooing is probably different!!!)But could we not pierce with hoops please? My ears are still sore I accidentally touch them and I’ve been using saline and everything, I haven’t been sleeping on them at all. Im lowkey afraid to schedule a hair appointment because whenever my sibling is playing with my hair and accidentally bumps my ear, it hurts, so I don’t wanna have that happen at the salon. It’s a bit worrisome, I’ve heard from other piercers that hoop piercings CAN heal un-even and are more likely to get infected, so I’ve just been extra careful. I don’t plan on taking them out until fully healed, 1 month is definitely not enough for ear piercings to heal/take out like the paper said.

Every one was super friendly as soon as we walked in the door! We were walk ins & Will took the time to see us before his next appointment! Will did a tattoo for me & my husband that was absolutely perfect! He was friendly and personable! I would most definitely recommend asylum studios! Over any tattoo shop!!! Most definitely ask to book with Will!

Got my tattoo from Daniel years ago! Recently went back and got my lobes and nose pierced. Always a good experience there.

The studio itself was definitely the cleanest one I have ever seen! Loved the decor! The staff was amazing from the front desk to the back of the house. They were all friendly and welcoming. The piercer that we saw was amazing with my daughter. He walked her through every step and made her feel comfortable. He did a wonderful job! I will definitely go back for any future needs!

Emma did my back, a chest piece, thigh, and several patch-work pieces for me. They all came out really clean. She does great line work and is great to work with throughout the whole process. Works fast and isn’t too heavy handed. Would definitely recommend!

Will Crigler was the artist that did my tattoo for my 18th birthday. He did a big piece with three roses up my side. I picked this tattoo out when I was 14 years old and told myself I’d always get it if I still liked it at 18. Will helped me make it my own and turned it into the piece I always dreamed of getting. He created the most amazing atmosphere and I was so comfortable but yet it was still professional as well. I will definitely be going back and I highly recommend him! Thanks again Will!

Fantastic tattoo and piercing salon in Roanoke VA. Clean, neat as a pin, extremely friendly and professional staff, from the artists to the concierge. They take COVID and cleanliness very, very seriously and go to the max to ensure safety, right down to sanitising pens and clipboards. I felt very safe there. Fun environment, comfy waiting area, and the whole place is tastefully decorated with a spooky/horror theme. Like Halloween every day. Full piercing spectrum. Talented artists. Good aftercare instructions verbal and written (I got a simple ear piercing) no matter how complex or routine. Handicap access available. They take cards and cash. Whole experience was excellent and comfortable.Two small downsides: parking is very limited, and they do piercings on a walk in only basis so theres a list and sometimes a considerable (2 hr+) wait. Get there early. Not their fault on that one precisely, theyre one of only a couple shops in Roanoke doing piercings and theyre the only full service one I know of. They were SLAMMED.Cant recommend them highly enough. You will not be dissatisfied with your experience.

Ive had two recent experiences at Asylum and both were overwhelmingly positive.My daughter had her tongue pierced at a studio outside of Roanoke and had some concerns about the bar being too small to accommodate the swelling. We visited Asylum and the piercer on duty (Shane) swapped her bar out for a larger one without any hesitancy. He also provided some solid information/advice for what to look out for and how to determine when to switch back to a smaller bar.I also decided to get my ear pierced, in a baller 40 year old divorced dad move, and visited the studio on a whim. The individual working the front desk was incredibly nice and super efficient. I saw a piercer quickly after speaking with them and the piercing itself was handled in a swift and professional manner. It was exactly what I wanted.

Chris Brooks did my first tattoo last night. It’s a simple bible verse but his line work is fantastic. I’m no expert but everyone that’s seen it that have experience with tattoos all say the line work he did is spectacular. Thanks Chris, you made my first tattoo a very positive experience!

This review will be an overview of both my artist (Daniel Jones) and Asylum over all. Both had their pros and Cons.Asylum overall:Over the 9 or 10 months that I dealt with the studio went well enough. Everything started in Dec 2019 when I went to schedule an appointment with Daniel. I was informed that I would need a consult a head of time before I could schedule the actual tattoo appointment. The wait time was a week for the consult. I made the appointment and returned a week later with reference drawings and a print out of what I was looking for. The consult lasted 5 mins, so im not sure why I had to wait a week when that could have been done over email or over lunch, but it is what it is. I could now make the appointment. The appointment was made 9 months out and was for all day. Fast forward 9 months to the day of. I was greeted by the receptionist who directed me through the paperwork I needed to fill out and once that was done I waited. After the tattoo was done around 5:30 I got tons of complements from the other artists and I felt really good about the piece and felt a bit more at ease. Overall the studio aspects of the trip were standard and not too many surprises, though the paperwork was a bit more aggressive in tone then Id like.The artist (Daniel Jones):So as I mentioned above the consult lasted 5 mins. During that time Daniel didnt ask many questions, didnt want to see the ref artwork I had brought, didnt want to know anything about the piece and didnt want to know anything about me. Basically the consult was, heres the drawing, heres where I want it, ok schedule a day and he was gone. I didnt have a chance to ask any follow up questions and the whole thing was over before I knew it. I felt cheated. I was very upset that I got basically no time or feedback other than the piece will need to be mirrored so the character is facing forwards. Fast forward 9 months to the day of. I arrived with a ton of ref artwork, a strategy guild with original artwork (which I had kept sealed in its packaging until this) and ideas. I thought we would work together on the piece or that there would be questions, but I was wrong on both counts. He took the drawing I had, we worked on sizing and position and then he was ready. Daniel is not a talker. I tried to tell him about the piece, what it meant to me, where it came from and how excited I was about it. He didnt really engage in conversation almost to the point of me thinking he didnt care, which is not a great feeling. His work area is odd, to put it mildly. There was a single old chair for me to sit on which was ok~ish to lay on. There were two TVs on opposing walls which was nice to watch Netflix, Amazon, Hulu or anything else, too bad I only got to sort of pick 1 of the 3 things we watched. The decorations on walls of his work area are all oddities, which are not my cup of tea, if anything they made me uncomfortable. We took regular breaks every hour or so, which was nice. I could get up and walk around and stretch my legs which were cramping from the chair. Towards the end my pain tolerance just fell through the floor, and Daniel noticed. He said he was going to numb me and asked if that was ok. I told him it was and the numbing spray worked great. Once the piece was done Daniel went over aftercare and gave me written instructions that were basically the same thing that he said, but it was nice to have afterwards to refer back to.If I was to rate Daniel on just my experience and ignore the tattoo, its a solid 2 or 3 star. Now I love my tattoo and he did a fatalistic job though it would have been nice to have him put his touch in it and bring it to the next level. I can deal with being uncomfortable for 5 1/2 hours for the awesome piece I got at the end of the day. That is why this review is 4 stars even though I didnt have a good time and had no connection to Daniel. His tattoo skills are worth it, but I dont know if Ill get another from him.

Got my eyebrow pierced here recently and it was a great experience. Never been to a tattoo or piercing shop, but it was a lovely experience. First come first serve with piercings, so I showed up when they opened and everyone was super nice and I was able to get my piercing done quickly. The shop is super clean and very open and welcoming. Shane was super chill and nice when he did my piercing. Definitely plan on coming back here for more piercings!

I absolutely love asylum studios as a whole . Jess did my septum , snake bites ,and my first ear stretch and Mike did my tounge peircing and including changing out my tounge peircing and snake bites due to swelling . Its just my experience due to my body being prone to swelling. Very clean and nice environment they all made me feel at home . I always recommend this place to my friends . I will definitely go back for all my piercing needs and I might be getting a tattoo there eventually!

My husband got his tattoo on a Friday. The next day, someone at Asylum gave out my husband’s personal information to a stranger without our permission. Our address, phone number, drivers license number, which the stranger used to threaten us.

I will always give this place a 5 star when it comes to my home boy Winslow being there¡! Hes an incredible artist and has done over half of the 40 some tattoos that i have! and the piercers are cool and down to earth and even the receptionist was on a hundred 💯 👌 she made me feel welcomed and was super cute and helpful! Go Asylum!!!

This place has been highly reccomended by many people but unfortuantely my recent experience was not enjoyable at all. Jes setchel was my piercer and she did a terrible job. I chose to get a smiley piercing and the jewelry i chose cannot be seen at all when i smile. I feel that Jes shouldve informed me that the jewelry i chose was not the best size, and she also let me leave without any aftercare tips. Overall terrible customer service, and she had no care for me being upset with the piercing!

I had my industrial done here and its been a pretty bad experience. To start the piercer was kinda rude and had no customer service manner about her and she was very rough doing both mine and my wifes piercings. In the following week I noticed swelling, tenderness, and drainage, so we called asylum on 3 different occasions and all 3 times the receptionist would not get the piercer on the phone just gave her own input which did not match any aftercare we could find. I personally went in the studio and was kinda greeted and I again explained my situation at which point the receptionist told me to use a compress and showed me the door and again I was not able to speak to the piercer. We will not return or recommend as this place seems to have plummeted over the years

I took my teen daughter and her friend for piercings (septum and daith). The piercer was very professional and friendly. The work area was sanitized between customers. We went at a busy time, but the waiting area was comfy.

Great group of creative people! Good vibes, reasonable prices. 10 out of 10 will be back for more!

Got a simple tattoo on my side from the bottom of my ribs to my hip. It looks great, it felt great... Great overall

I had Winslow design my perfect tattoo I had an idea of what I wanted but didn’t know exactly how it was going to look and he exceeded my expectations above and beyond of what I thought it could look like. I recommend going to him and we will be back in April for my husbands half sleeve.

Gillian just did my mother and I a few minutes ago for matching mother daughter tattoos. She is extremely professional, gentle handed and made sure my mom, who was a first timer for a tattoo and very nervous, was comfortable during the process. Im also a self proclaimed wimp and hardly felt a thing while she did my own tattoo.Shes a fun personality with an easy going nature and obviously loves her career as a tattoo artist. I love her strong lining and solid coloring! I will definitely book with her again.

Have tried several times to get a dermal piercing. I call and they say they don’t take appointments, it’s first come first serve. Initially they didn’t have what they needed. Then, it was too late. Then, the piercer was gone before they said the piercer leaves. If you don’t want to do a dermal piercing, just say it. That would be better than excuse after excuse over several days.

Highly recommended!!!! If i could rate higher i would!!! They are absolutely amazing when it comes to piercings for sure!!! Ive gotten 5 piercings there and and my daughter has gotten 4!!! We are coming back for more!!!

Awesome place for piercings, I’ve not had a tattoo yet from Asylum. I had to get some retainers put in for surgery and was in and out in a flash. The team is always so helpful and customer focused.

Wasn’t very impressed with their customer service for help. Was told over the phone i didn’t know what i was talking about with sizing but to come in they would have what i needed. Was ignored when I came in, finally just told to wait and after 30 minutes of waiting just to check the size of a piercing and get a new one i left. Artist may do great tattoos but if that’s not what you need I wouldn’t really bother coming to this location.

I got my nose periced on Monday this week an so far it going great no pain unless cleaning it an minor itching now an then but going good thank yall very much an great work.

Let me start this review out by saying I usually love Asylum i’ve had the majority of my piercings done here and they’ve turned out amazing. Now to the bad part i recently came in to get some more lobe piercings and all seemed to be going good. Fast forward 3 days and my ear becomes really swollen tho i tried not to worry because my piercer told me that would happen. Well by the end of the 4th day the back of my earring becomes embedded and after struggling for a few hours trying to pop it out it finally comes. So i decided to just take it out and replace it with a different earring. As i was doing it i compared the size of the jewelry i was pierced with to the size of my other jewelry and it was almost HALF the size. Why would anyone think it was a good idea to use such small jewelry when youre expecting the area to swell?If you couldn’t tell by the picture the back of the earring is literally inside my ear and unable to be seen.

Daniel did an awesome job putting together an original design based on what I said I wanted and in just a few minutes. The ink turned out perfectly.Reasonable cost, friendly, efficient, and LOVE my ink! I highly recommended Asylum!

Always love coming here. The staff is super friendly and has a nice chill environment. With piercings it is on a first come first serve basis, you cannot schedule an appointment for piercings, just walk-ins only so beware you may have to wait a bit to be seen. It is always packed on weekends.

Have tvs so you dont get bored or sit around awkwardly. Never been to a shop like this. Very welcoming and make sure you dont feel forgotten. Chris went above and beyond with my tattoo. Jess was right next to us and he was very nice. He talked to me and asked about what I was getting. Ive already made my next appointment! They will be my go to and recommend them to everyone who asks where to go! Def worth the hr drive.

Just went to have my septum pierced yesterday. It was a great expense and not too long of a wait. Jess answered all my questions and made me feel at ease, as i was a little nervous. I have wanted this piercing for over 10 years and I am so glad I went to Asylum. The desk staff were also very kind!

I got my ears pierced here and they did a fantastic job. Clear communication, clean environment, and very pleasant staff.

I got a snakebite piercing and my piercer, Shane was absolutely AMAZING. I got woozy after one and he was super chill while I recovered from my nerves and talked about bands/concerts. And then continued with my piercing when I was ready. I hope that guy has a good day.

I was getting a nostril piercing and I have my septum done and it was done by a different local tattoo and piercing business. I will say my nostril piercing was exceptionally worse than my septum. I was being pierced by an unsupervised apprentice and she messed me up. As I was giving her my ID I could immediately tell she was insanely shaky, not sure if it was natural or if she was just nervous. I do understand that being an apprentice and just starting out can be extremely scary and nerve racking but at the same time I don’t want someone so shaky being by my eyes and my face in general with a needle. I got to the room and as she went to do the pen marking she was shaking terribly bad. I shook it off again and thought maybe when she got the needle it would focus her. She didn’t let me see the pen marking and mind you I wear glasses and she did the marking so close to my face. She goes to do the piercing and is so rough and she starts to pull at it and it gushes blood. I mean it was a lot of blood. Never had an experience like this. It was so painful and then she had the audacity to ask if I was prone to nosebleeds as if it was coming from the base of my nose and not the hole she just stabbed in my face. Regardless, she straight up told me she was gonna have to take it out because she was so shaky and couldn’t get the piercing through the hollow needle. When she took it out the bleeding got worse. Worst piercing experience ever! Never caught her name and then did some research and realized it’s illegal for an apprentice to not be supervised by a licensed professional. She introduced herself as an apprentice just to clarify. We called to complain and they never followed up. Figures. Will not be coming back. Ever. Lol. Save ur nose and go to Tigers Eye!! I went today and Bob Perry did amazing!!

Do NOT ever let these people pierce you! Day after I got my lip piercing it swelled so bad I bit the stud and it popped off in my mouth because they used one way too small that didnt leave any swell room! My husband had to fix my piercing and we had to spend money on better lip rings from Spencers!

Had my nipples pierced here and I couldnt have asked for a better experience. 2 guys did it at once (wish I could remember names) but they made me feel comfortable and were quick and nearly painless!

Took daughter for ear piercing. It was a fairly long wait, and there was nothing to do to occupy that time. That said, they did a good job on the piercing, which was the reason for coming. Would go back, maybe would try to schedule an appointment next time.

Shane Weikel is the absolute best piercer in the valley! Super clean and wonderful personality that makes you feel super comfortable! Will always go here. Just wish the front desk staff was a bit more welcoming and friendly.

This was my first tattoo so I was very nervous and had no idea what to expect and everyone I met was really nice and I felt comfortable. The place was clean too.Katie did my tattoo and she was awesome and thorough. She nailed the design I had in mind!

Only worked with one of the tattoo artists, Dan, very pleased with his work and his attitude. When planning he was very attentive and open. The work was very good, I get many compliments on the work. My wife and daughter had their ears pierced and happy with the work and the procedure.

I got my second hole done in my nose and everything was great! Lady that greeted me was super nice and talked to me the whole time I was waiting. My piercing took all of 5 minutes and was great! Perfect placement beside my original piercing. This was my first time here but definitely will be my go-to from now on!

Ive gotten three piercings from here and the service has been very good. Its walk-in only for piercings but the staff is professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. I even brought my kids with me and it was all good!

Really loved the environment. The people were wonderful. Made us feel welcome and comfortable. Hoover did my tattoo and did an awesome job talking to me the whole time and it felt like it was done in 15 min. My daughter had he navel pierced and passed out a couple times afterward and they took great care of her and was very knowledgeable and calm about the whole situation.. Both of my daughters had their noses pierced there yesterday and were really impressed. Not only was everything very clean but the staff was also very friendly. Shane did their piercings and he laughed and joked with my daughters to make them more at ease. My daughters friend recorded the piercings and they kept laughing at the jokes about streaming it on TikTok live!As far as the price I had contacted them ahead of time for a quote so I knew what the cost of everything would be before we arrived. When it came time to check out the price was exactly as quoted (no surprise/hidden fees etc). I highly recommend Asylum Studios for your piercings!

They canceled on me twice. The first time it was supposed to be two friends and me, had scheduled several weeks out and given a down payment. We got a call the day of saying that our artist (an apprentice) had taken a personal day. I had to reschedule separately for Monday at 4:00. I drove an hour to get there and at 4:30 the artist finally came out and said she needed to cancel due to a child emergency. Super valid reason, but at this point they had jerked me around twice. They did say they could try to work me in several hours later. Instead I went to Queen Anne’s Revenge studio down the road and they took me almost immediately. Did a great job at the same price (a senior artist).

Excellent customer service by the receptionist and amazing artist. I havent had the pleasure of having any skin work done but my bestie just got her smiley and the piercing artist was amazing and has a great sense of humor. You can definitely see why they are rated #1 in the area.

So far, I have gotten 4 tattoos from here and I always love the results! The staff has always been very helpful and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back here in the near future. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great tattoo in a friendly, clean, and nice environment!

The Receptionist was very nice the piercer did a great job and took her time and seemed to really know what she was doing She was not very personable But she did a fine job. What made this a less than stellar experience Whats the price that I paid for my daughter to get ear lobe piercings. My fault that I did not ask in advance but after all the paperwork was signed and my daughter was already to do it it was $110. I thought at the time that that seemed ridiculous but I thought maybe I was out of touch with how much it cost these days. Today I asked around to people that have recently had the service done they said that was extremely high. It was $110 for just simple studs in the ear lobe...I was not given a choice of jewelry, other then hoops or stud...I thought I was choosing the plan stud and that is what it looks like...I feel like I was taken advantage of. Make sure you ask about price and if there are cheaper options.

This place has amazing piercers who make the environment feel very comfortable. I’ve been pierced twice here and both times it went very smoothly and quickly.

I’m a very anxious person, and going to get my nose pierced was surely VERY scary for me. the staff made me feel welcome and comfortable, and the piercing process itself was quick and easy. i’ve been back a few times for jewelry changes and they’re helpful every single time, no matter who is working. you guys are great! :)

Was ignored and waited 30 minutes just to be told they aren’t doing piercings 3 hours before close. Overall it was as a humiliating experience to be ignored to my face. Never have I had an experience this bad, I usually don’t even leave reviews or complain ever but they made no effort at all to correct or better my experience. Other places would have made an effort to me in or at least offered a small discount for the terrible experience.

I’ve had multiple piercings here from Jess and Shane, I cannot stress enough how fantastic they are for every single interaction I’ve had with them! They are amazing at what they do and I couldn’t be happier with all the piercings they’ve done for me over the years!!

I went and got my septum pierced and I have never had weird experiences with needles before but this time I started to feel insanely lightheaded and almost passed out. I threw up in the bathroom after almost passing out and the piercer was nothing but perfect and helpful. He performed the piercing perfectly and when i was on the verge of fainting he told me to lie down and he put a fan on me and gave me a lollipop. Would definitely recommend going there for all your piercing needs!!!!

They were very clear about when they were about to pierce your ears, and they were very gentle And let me decide whether I wanted hoops or studs and what color I wanted them in.

Ive only gotten two piercings here and both times i’ve had to take them out because the bar that was put in didn’t give me any room for swelling and healing and they became infected.the second chance i gave them, i’d called to see if they could give me a longer bar. i was given a time the piercer would be there and when i showed up during my lunch break, i was told the piercer had already left so i was stuck with what i had. im extremely dissatisfied so wouldn’t recommend coming here for a piercing

Shane did a wonderful job with my septum piercing. Not only was he super accommodating and listened to my concerns.. he was incredibly busy and still treated me as if I was his only client of the night. Clean environment, clear pricing, very professional. He’s the only one I trust!

So Im new to this area and my cousin who went here recommended this shop so I gave them a shot. Well, all I can say is Jason Winslow will be doing all my future tattoos! This artist was really great and detailed and did an awesome job on all 5 of my tattoos. I got my daughters hands, feet and info on me in one 2 hour session. He was really detailed to how I wanted it and even though I put the wrong number he is still willing and happy to fix it for me. I highly recommend this shop. Very inviting and relaxing lobby and nice receptionist, and something Im picky about, they we extremely clean! Great shop guys, for these to be my first tattoos, Im more than satisfied!!!! Got my nose pierced and my hubs got his ears gaged.Wonderful job with cleanliness and full disclosure about what wouldn’t work and what would. Very good instructions on aftercare. When I called bc I had a question, they immediately said for me to come in and let them check. He stopped what he was doing to help. I really appreciated the aftercare part.

I went in today (a Saturday) to get my septum pierced. First of all, I was very impressed by the studio. It has a really cool vibe with tons of cool art on the walls and plenty of comfortable seating for waiting, which was great since I had to wait about an hour and a half. I fully expected to have to wait on a Saturday afternoon though, and the fact that they were so busy was a good sign to me that they were well established and trusted by their clientele. The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. Once I was finally called back to get my piercing, I noticed that the facility was very clean and sterile. I felt safe having my body modified there, so thats a pretty big deal. Jesikah was my piercer, and she was AWESOME. She was very knowledgeable and happily answered all of my questions. She made sure that I was getting the placement and jewelry size that was right for my face and took time to prepare me and make sure that I was aware of what she was doing. The piercing itself only took a few seconds (if that). It was so quick, clean, and about as painless as a piercing can possibly be. I was quite shocked actually as to how easy it was. After she was done she made sure that I was satisfied, went over aftercare, and told me not to hesitate to call her if I had any problems or questions. This was a great experience all around, and I highly recommend to anyone that wants a piercing to see Jesikah at Asylum Studios!

My daughter and I both went in for double flat piercings ($160 plus tip). Process was actually very good...not painful and went quickly and they looked great. The day following the piercings, my ear started swelling and got red and hot. Was very painful and throbbing. This happened even after the cleaning process was followed exactly. I ended up having to have both of them removed and was told the studs were way too short for that piercing. Now, my daughter’s ear is swollen and red and one of the backs is completely embedded in the back of her ear (once again stud was apparently too short for that piercing). Never again. I could see if something happened to one of the piercings, but the fact that we had four between the two of us and we have now lost 3 of them and are waiting to see if the 4th one is salvageable or not is just not ok. The piercings looked awesome...but only lasted a couple days. Very sad.

Worst tattoo place ever! The guy that pierces is fantastic. Receptionist with blonde and pink hair is very bad at her job. Came in to have a piercing looked at that fell out. Receptionist said she’d work her in between two piercings. She lied. Was added to list. Waited two hours to be in the chair for 3 minutes timed. She could had drawn any of the piercers attention to get looked at. Receptionist was also eating at desk never washing her hands touching stuff. Not a very sterile environment. Me personally I would never give this place a dime. I’ve had multiple tattoos at different locations. Never had this experience. Horrible.

Super friendly, incredibly knowledgeable and professional staff ensured that I had a wonderful first piercing experience. Shane did a marvelous job. Had a little bit of a wait (about an hour), but that wasn’t a problem considering we were able to just sit back on the comfy couches and watch Batman until it was our turn :) Would reccommend Asylum Studios to anyone considering getting a piercing for the first time!

This place was much more than I expected. It was an incredibly clean and professional environment. All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. When I got my tattoo I never felt like I was rushed. My artist took his time and was completely open to my criticism/suggestions. My tattoo was even greater than I expected It to be. I am very happy with my experience and definitely would go back and recommend others go here as well.

This place has really good prices for piercings, however out of all my 9 piercings Ive gotten; never once has my ear come out bruised. This is definitely a first which is concerning. And I have the same piercing place on my other ear so its definitely not because of the spot. It didnt feel right when he pierced my ear. Just really concerned on why my half my ear is bruised.

Wanted to add to my nose so I popped by quickly before my night class and they were super friendly super fast and super affordable. We didn’t think I was gonna make it on time but I only waited maybe 10 minutes and the piercing process took less than 5. Amazing, definitely going back

I used to go here for my piercing needs. Not anymore.My most recent visit was to get an industrial bar, an orbital ear piercing and new studs for a total of 4 already pierced ear lobe piercings.I wasn’t able to pick out my own jewelry. The industrial went smoothly, the orbital did not. The piercer let it slip out after the initial pierce then had to redo it which hurt very bad.Then when he was putting in the studs for my ear lobe piercings, he dropped a stud into my ear canal which led to me going to urgent care afterwards to get it removed. The studs themselves are poor quality. Not even a week later and one has already fallen out and I can’t find it. They don’t stay screwed in.Overall it was a bad experience and I won’t be returning. The atmosphere was unprofessional and I felt like no one was qualified to be there. While waiting for the piercer to arrive, other staff members were lounging around eating and didn’t seem very professional.My piercer seemed nervous and didn’t offer much help after messing up. He didn’t charge me for the studs, but to drop jewelry in someones ears is unacceptable.If I had paid for the studs I’d be much more upset that they are such poor quality that they can’t stay in my ears.

I have had multiple piercings done here and I’ve seen both Atom and Shane. They both are extremely helpful, calming, and professional. It’s a super clean area, reasonably priced, and everyone is always friendly!

Ive never gotten a bad tattoo at asylum. Everything that I have had done there has been wonderful. The shop is clean, the prices are reasonable, and honestly everybody who works there is pleasant and nice to have a conversation with. If you want a good tattoo at a good price, please consider Asylum! Theyve done three of my tattoos so far and every single one has come out entirely flawless.

All of the people (tattoo artists, piercers, etc) are nice, friendly, and clean. They are willing to sit down and discuss whatever you are getting done, and are more than willing to walk you through what they are doing. I am terrified of needles, but after the treatment Ive gotten here, I wouldnt let anybody else pierce me.

I have had my rook, cartilage, lobes, and conch all pierced here and I have never had a problem. All of the piercings healed wonderfully with not too much help and the piercers have always been amazingly kind and calming (especially with the conch!)

Im not in the habit of leaving reviews, but this place went out of its way to mistreat me as a potential client.The tattoo artist assigned to me had to cancel our appointment twice because he was diagnosed with COVID. Of course, this can be worked out, but both times the cancelation was within 12 hours of our appointments. He actually called me 90 minutes before our first attempt, Ive had COVID all week, I dont know why the studio didnt call you sooner to reschedule. Two months later, after a second cancellation, two separate people at the studio said I should be entitled to a refund on my deposit. Instead of following through, the studio ignored 3 different texting attempts and didnt return any of my phone calls. Finally, I went into the studio to speak with someone and was told that they would have their management give me a call. Apparently, the very idea of being responsive to a client was too much for the studio, they decided to continue ignoring me instead.Any business can claim that refunds are not part of their policies. But businesses have management to step in when they are clearly in the wrong, regardless of those policies. Asylum had several opportunities to do the right thing and refused to act as a properly run business.

Called them to ask for an appointment they said we could just walk in. Drive an entire hour to get there for her to say Oh Im sorry were not taking anyone else today! She had a real hard problem seeing the point that she had given us misinformation for us to drive an hour to get there and not add us to the list for a piercing which takes all of 5 minutes.

The place was VERY clean the people was really awesome!! We drove down from Blacksburg. Didnt have all the info so had to go home and come back.. but we absolutely loved Shane he was absolutely the best. He had a great personality and he laughed and joked with us!! Would highly recommend!!! Weill definitely go back in the future!!

Every time I have had a piercing done at Asylum I have always had a great experience, so I decided to in today to inquire about a small tattoo I want. The receptionist was incredibly rude. She interrupted me, snapped at me and then ignored me. We left after that. Would not recommend.

I got a second lobe piercing and industrial piercing here, both by the same person. The lobe piercing isn’t straight through on one side and it’s always difficult to get an earring through it. The industrial piercing got so infected that the jewelry had to be removed, I had to get my ear cut open, and my cartilage is literally broken now, even though I followed all of their instructions and went to them and they told me it was not infected (clearly, it was). All they offered in apology was a slight discount if I wanted to get it re-pierced. I also didn’t get to pick any jewelry nor did they tell me what metal they used.

Hands down best shop in town. Daniel does all my work. Hes very humble and a genuinely down to earth guy. He goes the extra mile to make sure you love your ink. I wont get tattooed by anyone else.

I get my piercings done here. And I have never had anything less than a great experience. The whole place is very clean and very friendly staff. The only thing I dont love is that I cant set up an appointment. Piercings are by first come first serve with no way to know how long the wait will be.

I got my septum re-pierced here as the other piercing I had when I was 18 (at another place) was too high up in the cavity. I went to Jesikah and she was able to put if further down in order for me to put jewelry in. Its been a while and no complaints.

I went to Asylum today. Jes was so patient listening to my horror story about another shop I went to, on a whim. I had gotten an impulsive “conch” piercing a little less than a month ago. It wasn’t where it was supposed to be nor was it done how it was supposed to be. It was quite painful if I’m being honest. Today, I walked in Asylum for a consult about this existing piercing and whether I should fix it. I ended up getting double conch by Jes and it was virtually painless. Jes made me feel very comfortable right off the bat, and was empathetic and understanding about my other experience. Asylum is the only place I will go from here forward. Period.

While the initial appointment for my daughter, myself and my son in law was quick and fairly pleasant, what should have been a simple and easy follow up was treated as a beneath them inconvenience.my daughter had her nose pierced and the ball came off on day 3. We were not able to get it back in at home and called and asked what time the piercer would be in the next day and could we come in to have it put back on. Over the phone they were very friendly and said of course no problem. When she got there the next day the receptionist blew her off and acted like it was something that would take a long time. They said they didn’t think they could “work her in”. She got there maybe 30 minutes after they opened. She did not mess with the ball to cause it to come off so it wasn’t on tight enough to begin with. Things happen, I get that but stand behind your work and be kind to your clients. Thank goodness Sub Rosa in Christiansburg cares more about people than money and they are fixing it for her. Guess we know where we will be going from now on.

The artists need a new receptionist. The best way to describe our greeting was pretentiousness and discouragement. A quality to look for in a future replacement would be a skill in setting expectations while remaining positive and welcoming. Might be better if you get the right tattoo artist but mine had to fill in color within 30 days and it faded again very fast. He gives excuses as to why it fades so fast but Ive seen better and I know better. They dont stand behind their work or this one doesnt. Guess Ill find another who can do it right.

Went in and got a simple nose piercing and two tongue piercings lady at the counter wasnt too friendly and the piercer her self was ok went in Tuesday ball falls off of the nose piercing Friday night so I call because several people couldnt get it back on they assured me they would fix it Saturday morning drove 30 mins to get there the lady at the counter today was friendly but then said they were booked and would have to try an squeeze her in. Piercings have never been an appointment thing in my book then she said well maybe one of our artists can get it back on when he comes back from lunch. Went to sub rosa in christiansburg and atom even though we offered him money fixed the ball free in less than a minute literally and even said it wasnt on there tight enough and tightened it. Never going to here again since existing customers arent worth the time to them and someone somewhere else helped for free.

Mikey did a great job with my labret and my helix piercing. Barely any pain, and went into detail about aftercare. Will definitely be back.

This is my second time getting work done by Dan E ands word can’t describe how happy I am with my tattoo. I never know exactly what I want and all I have to do is give him some ideas and he always comes out with something beautiful.

Daniel is one of the best in the valley. He might charge more than some but his work is impeccable and is still considerably cheaper than other areas. Youre getting a piece of art literally embedded into your skin. If you want Dogs playing poker go elsewhere. Dont cheap out. Save up or dont get one. Note that he tends to shade towards the darker end of the spectrum. If thats not what youre looking for, be explicit or go with someone else.

Okay Im saying this so everyone will know. I paid $65 for a circle around a tattoo I already had. I paid 65$ For the actual tattoo in Richmond for a guy whose well known as uncle bob and hes been there forever. I thought, well this piece is easy enough for a studio is roanoke- its a circle. Just the outline of a circle. Well its actually not a circle. Like an egg shape. And when I said something about the price, they said it was bc I told them my budget was open. I said my budget was open bc I sent them pictures of what I wanted and was hoping for some feedback or suggestions. Im not looking to tarnish any individuals income or reputation but as a whole, dont tell me that it was bc I had an open budget, and the tattooist always works with peoples budget. This is an off center circle which I will have to have fixed by Jackie O- a former employee of asylum and the only reason I went. Shes in Blacksburg now. I would suggest anyone impatient enough to make an appointment at asylum to tell them your budget is 10$ and maybe youll enjoy a cheap nice little egg shape.

Great experience except for an incredibly rude receptionist that left me feeling very unwelcome. The tattoo artist was super talented and kind and tattoo itself is sick.

Great prices, easy going and friendly staff, I love my tattoo. Brittany was my artist, very sweet woman and fast!

The staff was so nice they have a nice waiting area would recommend for piercings they give you things to clean them and give you advise to keep good care of them
