Booked an appointment to have my nose pierced again and Lou ended up being my piercer. I told them I’ve had my nose done before which instead of poking another hole and taking my money, he checked to see if it was open still which it was and saved me money. Honesty is hard to come by these days so I salute him for doing that. Def recommend Lou! Also the lady that helped me in the front was very nice.

This place is clean and hygienic which is top priority for piercings. The space is open and inviting and the staff were great. Josh did my piercing, and he was excellent. I appreciated the time he took to chat and reassure me, as well as the detailed aftercare he briefed me on.

Hospitable front desk clerk, Toe, was so articulate and considerate yesterday evening! Not only did she show me different nose rings (and other jewelry), but she made some fun suggestions for me to try. Toe also helped facilitate me seeing a piercer. I tried to book a jewelry change online, but there were no spots left, so I took a chance and stopped by to see if there was anyone available to help me. My surgery was early the next morning and I needed to take out the metal nostril piercing and put in a glass retainer so that my piercing would not close. My medical team explained that the metal could heat up or in the case of an MRI, the metal could obstruct the view of the area in the X-ray. I waited and was able to see a friendly piercer! He was quick, knowledgeable, and fun to interact with. The place was calm, clean, and hygienic. I was so thankful that they took the time to accommodate me! The next day, I was ready for surgery with my L shaped retainer in my nose and medical tape to hold it in place. They wished me well and it was a positive way to start on my health journey. Thank you again!

I cannot say enough nice things about this place! I had been wanting a nostril piercing for a while, and live in a different state. The prices back home are what was holding me back, and on a whim I decided to do some research while visiting San Diego. I came across this place and booked an appointment, which was super easy to do. Upon my arrival, the person behind the counter was super friendly and helpful. I was being very indecisive in picking a style and size I liked, and she did not rush me at all while showing me in a mirror how different styles and sizes (along with their prices) would look. After (finally) deciding on a style, the piercer Josh got the set up sterilized and brought me to the room. He was very friendly, kind, humorous, and professional all around. He explained every step along the way. I love my new piercing and have zero regrets! I highly highly highly recommend this piercing parlor. Thanks for a great experience all around!

I found Enigma online cuz when I shared with my doctor that I would like to add additional piercings on my ears. He said to make sure they are super clean and safe. I have both Lupus and RA and take meds for my autoimmune condition. One of the nurses suggested I try Engima. Then, when I went to Leo Hamsl jewelers, they said the same thing. My piercer was Ken and he was super nice and explained everything. Yes, they are pricey but I can’t take chances. By late afternoon, the redness went away. I am following their protocol with Saline mist and to ensure I don’t keep touching or messing with my ears. I was able to sleep on the side where the new piercings were (I did only 1 side at first). I did take a Tylenol for inflammation just in case. Thank you, Enigma!!! (By the way, love my new earrings)

I had a great experience here. The two people running the desk were very helpful and knowledgeable and really helped me with picking out my jewelry. Lou was a hero with getting my piercings done quickly and clean, Id recommend anyone come here.

We did a ton of research before picking enigma. Im glad we did, they were amazing! Ken pierced my daughters ears and she loved them. They were well placed, it was quick, easy and from what she said--pretty painless. I highly recommend them!

I came in today for earlobe piercings and had the best experience. Online booking and waiver were easy. The woman working the front desk greeted me right away and took the time to explain the jewelry types, prices and styles. My appointment was with Josh and he was so so kind and informative. Really took the time to explain everything to me and make sure I was comfortable. Thanks Josh!

Came in on 2 separate days Thursday and Saturday due to not having the jewelry I wanted to use from club tattoo cleaned (my fault). I scheduled for a repierce of my lobes and a new conch. Lou was great in helping stretch my second lobes so I actually didn’t need to get it repierced which was great. I came back in Saturday for Lou to get the conch pierced with my old jewelry and this is where I didn’t like my experience. I felt rushed during my appointment and was told that we were half way through my appointment and if I didn’t choose a spot soon that I would need to reschedule. I had only been there for 5 minutes deciding a spot. We looked at 3 different potential spots and I told him to go with the 2nd spot and he pierced me in the first spot. So I felt rushed and that resulted in piercing in the wrong spot. The piercing process itself went smoothly and was minimal pain but overall won’t be coming back due to feeling rushed and not being pierced where I wanted. Went to rose body piercing after and they took time with me to discuss different placement options for a new piercing for 45 minutes with a smile on their face and no appointment. Recommend them if you’re looking for people that aren’t just after your money but genuinely care about you.

The employees are all very helpful and theres a nice variety of piercing jewelry to choose from. Ive been going for a few years now, and have been getting pierced by Evan each time. His recommendations have always been great, and his professionalism is very reassuring. I highly recommend booking with him.

Great experiences with Josh. He was kind and very skilled.I found the information trail and explanations a little challenging. Some staff are better at explaining and being patient with questions than others. Be sure to give yourself time to get a full price quote before you go in so you arent confused and surprised by added costs for jewelry backs, etc.

I always have had a great experience coming to Enigma!! Today I had some issues with my jewelry and Evan was very helpful fitting me in and accommodating me. I really appreciate all the staff there, I had a great visit and the front desk was very kind and welcoming as well. Highly recommend this shop for all your piercing needs. This was a great place for my sisters and me to get our second lobe piercings. The check in was easy and they gave us a realistic wait time of 1 hour. We visited a nearby restaurant for an appetizer while we waited. The piercer was professional and created a relaxed and chill environment. We would definitely come back for another piercing here!

This is my favorite piercing shop. They have a wide variety of jewelry to pick from and a great staff that makes the whole process quick and painless. I enjoy this spot so much, that I have no reason to consider going anywhere else for my piercings. Prices are affordable for all price ranges and booking your appointment online is really cool and makes for an easier experience. Evan has done most of mine and I highly recommend him, but every piercer here is amazing and you wont be disappointed with any of the team. Go get some piercings!!

I would put 0 stars if i could.. the woman at the front desk was extremely condescending and rude. she told me not to touch my healed piercing in her shop in a very rude tone.. and gaslit me about the size of ball i wanted. like seriously what kind of power trip are you on ???+ the jewerly was very expensive would not recommend especially when there are a lot better piercing shops without straight up mean employees.

This was my first piercing experience, so I was nervous. But Kennedy helped me pick the perfect jewelry, and Josh took the time to walk me through the entire process. Great selection of jewelry. Super helpful and friendly staff:) they were very patient with me. Im a skösh indecisive and forgot the guage of the piercing I wanted the jewelry changed on. 😅 but alas Im super happy with my experience and the end that they helped me choose! (Im so sorry I forgot the name of who helped me at the front desk) but Josh was super nice and I felt comfortable and well taken care of! I cant wait to return for some new piercings!

Initially I liked coming here even though the jewelry is pricey. However, one of my piercings developed a keloid when I went in one of the girls that was changing my jewelry was not cool. She pretty much blamed me. The other piercing she changed my jewelry on was a year old and was fine but she said it needed a tighter backing. Doing this actually irritated the piercing causing a hardened small keloid in just a few days. So now I have 2. I know the 1st one could be me since it was the side I sleep on the most. But she definitely caused the 2nd one. I don’t think I’ll be going back. She was a bit condescending. I don’t think she meant to but it’s how she came across. Not happy that my good ear now has a keloid as well.

Josh was very knowledgeable and extremely patient. I went in because one of my piercings had closed and he took care of it fast easy and painless

My daughter just turned 8 and one of her birthday presents was getting her ears pierced. My wife and I insisted on a needle, internally threaded hardware and... well... something ok for an 8 year old. Enigma was perfect. Awesome environment, great selection of jewelry for any piercing and the staff was awesome. Thanks again Lu!

My daughter turned 14 and wanted to get her nose pierced so we brought her in to see Rubi for her nostril piercing. Rubi was rad! She was so professional and told my daughter every single thing she was going to do So my daughter would be less nervous. She was so professional and nice and my daughter absolutely loves her nose piercing. We will always go back to enigma.. Ive been a customer if there since 2006! I have gotten two piercings from this shop now both done by Evan; one being my septum and the other one of my earlobe piercings. My first experience here was superb. I came because a friend recommended I do and she also had gotten pierced by Evan. The service was quick, clean, and very comfortable all in all (as comfortable as you can get for a needle piercing you 😅). Evan is great at what he does and explains everything from the process to the healing and everything in between. The two ladies at the front desk were especially kind too. I would definitely recommend coming here to anyone considering. All of the jewelry is extremely high quality and everyone working here is professional.

I don’t usually leave reviews and I also work in customer service where people are rude every day, so I am as nice as I can possibly to people who are just trying to do her job. That being said, the girl at the front desk was rude and condescending when I asked a basic question. She told me I couldn’t change my nose piercing I’ve had for 4 months because I need to wait another 5 months. Which is okay, I understand she works at a piercing shop so she knows more about piercings than I do, but she made me feel stupid for coming to get it changed early and was rude to me. She just looked at me and waited for me to leave instead of asking if I needed anything else or saying I should come back in 5 months. Made me feel small.

Josh did a septum piercing for my child and had the best experience. And weve been pierced at all the best recommended places in San Diego; this is the best so far. After booking online, I arrived at my appointment and while the front desk lady was direct and answered my questions, she so took it upon herself to shame me for touching my own piercing. Mind you, these are piercings I have had for over 2 decades and was touching the jewelry but that apparently is a massive sin in this shop. The piercer was extraordinary, but she spoke over me when I asked questions and was only genuinely nice after I tipped her. Not sure what type of bug crawled up and into these ladies, but this shop would have 10 stars if they werent so rude/cold. If you dont mind some snappy attitudes, this is by far one of the best technical places Ive ever visited. They are APP certified and have beautiful jewelry. They also accommodated my request for the location of my piercing to change at the last minute. I would definitely recommend but also warn people of the impending tude...

To be honest I stumbled upon this place, made an appointment with them and waited for my time. Before My appointment I had some questions that the lady in front was able to answer and actually clear my anxiousness about it. I arrived earlier and chose my piercing with the help of another super helpful lady . My appointment was with Josh and he immediately explain the placement and how it was gonna be done also pointed out some stuff that I had wrong with another piercing 🫠 (not done by them and because I had asked him about it) After the piercing I had no swelling whatsoever 🙌 and is going great, definitely recommend this place for piercings and they have a beautiful collection of piercings unlike anything I have ever seen and I have been to quite a few in different states! This place is unmatched!!

Came in to get an ear piercing the other day. Josh matched it up with my already pierced ear perfectly. He was super fast, told me everything I needed to know, and really prioritize safety. My fiend who does tattoos recommend the place as on of the most professional places in town and after going I can attest to it.Super clean and sanitary. The room where I get my piercing wasike a small doctors office which is a great sign when someones gonna poke a hole in you. Super effortless and quick. This is the place to go for piercings

I have gotten 5 piercings here and the piercers Josh and Evan are phenomenal. 5/5 stars extremely professional and thrilled with the results, and they are why I come back. However the front desk seems to always be staffed by extremely rude and condescending children. Every time Im here they make the entire process extremely unpleasant. Also, the website needs more (any) information on the booking types so the front desk staff can stop blaming customers for selecting the incorrect sevice. Be better.

The friendly lady at the counter was so amazing, very helpful and kind. The shop was clean, and the service was quick. My only downside to my experience was the piercer. He came off very annoyed, and rude. My situation was a little different, because I knew the jewelry from a previous shop used was irritating my skin. I thought I went to the experts so I could ask questions because obviously I’m not the professional. I got my jewelry swapped out like I asked, and within 24-48 hours it healed. Overall I’m happy with my outcome, but was dissatisfied with his customer service.

The only place I trust to get piercings. Eric is super friendly and professional. This is the only place I recommend to all my friends.Their website is easier to navigate from a computer. The browser on my phone cut off important buttons, making it hard to sign the required documents before getting pierced.

Went in for a third ear lobe piercing as well as a septum piercing and it was a great experience. The person who helped me check in was so nice and helpful. I scheduled with Evan and he was very knowledgeable and prepped you of what the sensation would feel like before piercing. I really appreciated him talking through everything in detail and how kind he was overall. I went in to pick up jewelry for my labret. I thought I was just gonna go in pick up the jewelry and go but they have a system where you need to be measured to make sure the jewelry fits perfectly. I really thought that was really cool and provides a customized experience. Personally I was not mentally prepared to have so much interaction with people and so I asked if I could just pick up the jewelry without having it measured as I know which size I need without being measured. The short girl in the front desk with the glasses and short hair was a bit off putting and I observed how she interacted with others in the shop and it wasn’t very welcoming or pleasant. The other girl however, the taller one with the longer hair was so kind and compassionate and friendly. She made me feel very comfortable and was understanding of my request and I really appreciated that. I will definitely come back for a piercing or more jewelry as I can tell everything is very high quality and they put customers’ interests first.

Got both my nostrils pierced today and i was so so nervous coming in. It being my first facial piercings and looking at all the reviews, i was worried whether the staff was going to be nice; THEY WERE! Lady at the front desk was so polite and helped me choose my jewelry. Then, Josh did my piercings and it was super quick and efficient. He took his time marking where my piercings were gonna be so that they would be symmetrical and his advice is so helpful! I would definitely recommend coming here! It was an amazing experience and if i ever need piercings again i will definitely be back!

I’ve had a phobia of piercings for quite some time from past experiences. It being a couple years I had lots of questions, came in as a walk in by chance they had an opening and the girl at the front was incredibly helpful in helping me choose jewelry and what specifically to get. I had an uneven 2nd hole years ago so she suggested the perfect thing to help even it out. My piercer josh was INcredible. So efficient, professional and friendly. He explained each step and helped even calm my anxiety’s. I’m obsessed with how everything turned out and will be back for more! I took my tween age daughter for her first ear piercings. The piercing artist Josh was so patient and explained everything to her before and while he was piercing her. He went over the aftercare with her as well. The jewelry is great quality, and I appreciated all the precautions taken for sanitary purposes and privacy. We will recommend this place every time!

This particular visit was simple- just needed replacement jewelery. However this is the only place I go. Its a little bit pricier, but I know Im getting quality jewelry and the staff is always kind and helpful. The couple of piercings I got here years ago healed quickly with their direction and theyve helped with other piercing questions when Ive had them.They also have a branch in PB and its just as quality and friendly there. Definitely check out either place if youre thinking of a piercing. You cant go wrong.

From out of town and came here for a replacement helix as Enigma was recommended by everyone in the SD subreddit. Girl behind the desk refused to size the stud and didn’t tell me all sales are final until after I had checked out and of course the stud is too small. I should have argued before but I trusted the “expert” at Engima and that was a mistake.

Staff was very welcoming and friendly. They just had a short break before starting up again with a lounge of people. Very impressed with Erika and her professional knowledge and speedy work on my lower Lip titanium piece. Experience was so smooth may only come here for my piercings!

10/10 recommend enigma and specifically Josh, he has taken good care of me every time Ive visited. Had my nose pierced with him in august 22. My nostril piercing snagged and fell out while I was asleep during Christmas time and he was able to get it back in the next day no problem. There were no healing problems whatsoever thankfully.Today I was able to go back and finally swap the nostril stud with a ring and he took care of me again, including piercing my lobe a second time and my helix. Everything took less than half an hour and he was very gentle with everything.Josh also gives advice very well based on what youre looking for and the structure of your face. He does not recommend anything but rather just informs you of all the possibilities which was a huge plus for me.

My girlfriend was having a difficult time with her helix and swelling and decided to book an appointment here in order to change that. It was a stretch of a decision at first but the entire time the experience for her was smooth and top-tier customer service! The girls at the front explained to her which new piercing would be the best decision along with a new piece for her noise piercing. The entire time took literally less than five minutes. She also noted her ear felt extremely better the moment her helix piercing was taken off and replaced.Highly recommend this place. Booking in advance is the way to go, however. They should definitely also clarify to 12:00 bookings that arriving early is not necessary given they dont open until that noon time.

Gorge was the best piercer by far…honestly, gentle, kind, and sweet. He asked if I was okay after each nostril he pierced, and made sure I was comfortable each time…I will 100% recommend him to all of my friends and I don’t think I could ever tip him enough. He was amazing.

Got my second lobe piercing, conch and a helix. Lou was my Piercer and he was great everything was very clean, piercings look great! They had some really nice jewelry and was overall a great experience. Booking online was very easy and simple. The lady at the front desk is so rude I asked my mom if she really wanted to spend her money on her piercing here because I knew she could get it done somewhere cheaper where they could be nicer. The piercer was pleasant but damn that front desk lady.

I went here to pierce my earlobes for the first time—Ive never gotten any piercings. I felt so comfortable and relaxed here, and was given the best advice. It was all very clean and sanitary, at least based on my research. Im from out of town, so they recommended a place near where I lived to get my follow-up. Love my new earrings!

Ive gotten piercings at both Enigma locations, and they are phenomenal! Both studios are clean and follow all safety precautions to the full extent. They took good care of me both times, answered every question, and cleared up some common piercing misconceptions that I had. I appreciate their professionalism! First thing first, Evan was great. My first time piercing experience ended up being pleasant. He was patient and made me feel welcomed.However I was so disappointed by the front desk lady with curly brown hair. I asked her if I can use my own jewelry she said they didn’t accept jewelry from outside. Ok, I understood, it might be how their business works at the same time makes sure the safety of the products they are using. But I’m not here for shopping jewelry I didn’t even know I HAVE to buy it there before I arrive. so I just take a look at the starter jewelry and asked her the price for it and should I pay with the other half of piercing fee. But she was so cold and rude she treated me and the girl who chose jewelry before me(who got a more expensive one) so differently and impatiently like if I don’t have the money to pay for it or whatever. My whole family work in jewelry industry made customized jewelry for rich people I don’t want to judge the quality of their products and if they are over priced, but one thing clear is that part of what customers pay are for the service they provided. If she doesn’t understand it as a front desk, she should get fired. Glad to see people have the same bad experience with the front desk.Btw my ear lobes get really bad infection 3month later have to go to urgent care and I give up getting my ear pierced.

Did my navel piercing for the first time at Adams! I arrive little late as parking was hard around the area. I checked in and the lady in front assisted me to pick my stud. The prep took about less than 15 mins but the piercing was totally quick! Shout out to Josh! He was very patient and informative and he is gentle too. He made sure I dont get tense on my first time. Did the deposit of $20 and paid the extra $106 for the stud and aftercare spray excluding tip! 😉 Very satisfied with my visit will definitely recommend.

I got my ears pierced with Evan and that was great he explained everything that he was doing and the piercing itself was barely felt! Got a check up with Ruby a couple of months later and she was nice, told me to wait a little longer before downsizing. I went in today to see if I needed to downsize as I wasn’t sure and wanted to ask. I saw Erika and she was probably the meanest person I’ve ever met in customer service. She didn’t communicate what she was doing, didn’t tell me that I actually needed to downsize and that’s what she was doing. She was incredibly rough and the experience hurt more than Evan piercing my ear. I was crying from the pain and from being upset and confused at what she was doing and I could tell she was annoyed at me. I don’t think I’ll ever come back because of how poor my experience with Erika was. Although Evan and Ruby were great, I don’t want to risk every interacting with Erika ever again so I will not be returning.

I love Enigma! The shop is so clean and nice, I feel like Im in a medical facility almost. The staff are all very sweet and professional. I got my septum, both nostrils, and both conches done there, (plus come in panicking because I lost my jewelry), and the staff always did their best to help me. This spot is also a safe space for LGBTQIA+ people, which is important for me.

Loved my experience this is my second time getting a piercing. I got an industrial piercing and it was more comfortable than getting my helix at a different establishment. The piercer was very good at letting me know what was happening at each step and I felt very calm. Healing process has been going very well.Plan on only getting all of my piercings here in the future.The cleanliness standard was great and made me feel so comfortable I have family who are immunocompromised and out of any of my experiences out recently this was one of the most positive. All of the staff were very friendly and conversational putting me at ease each step of the way.

I went here to get a specific piercing because Erika Was recommended to me for what I wanted to get. I was told she was super nice and had experience with what I was wanting to do. However, she made me feel extremely uncomfortable and like I was a bother to her. I showed up a little early for my appointment and completely understood she couldn’t take me any earlier. That’s not what I wanted when coming in early. I wanted to ask if what I wanted to get was even possible. The front desk guy was super nice and said he’ll have her come talk to me quick. The second she came out she was rude to me. Made me feel like what I was asking a stupid question and I should have just waited for my appointment to ask. I almost didn’t come back for my appointment but I didn’t want to forfeit my deposit. When I was taken back to get the piercing she was just rude the whole time then too. Acting like I was inconveniencing her. The thing is, if it can’t be done that’s fine. But please don’t make people feel stupid for wanting something or asking questions. Body piercers should understand that part of their job is to make the client feel comfortable and I can say that I was very uncomfortable the entire time. I didn’t ultimately end up getting it done with her. And I am pretty sure she just didn’t want to do it. Someone should probably have a talk with Erika about how she treats clients.

Took my son there to get his ears pierced. We set an appointment online, arrived a few minutes before to pick out some jewelry. Girl at the counter was super friendly and helpful even though my son hadnt filled out the release like he was supposed to. Didier was the piercer and he was AMAZING. Super friendly, great sense in humor, and was very thorough in explaining everything to my son, from procedures, to after care and healing. He was awesome. They came highly recommended and they did not disappoint!!! Thanks for the great experience!!!

I’ve been to the Garnet Enigma location twice now, both times my piercer was super super nice, helpful and is careful to walk me through everything she was doing. The jewelry quality is amazing, although a little bit expensive it is well worth it, especially as someone who doesn’t switch out jewelry often!The only negative thing I will say is I seem to always have a bad experience with the front desk lady. To be fair, I am pretty indecisive and change my mind quite often, but it seems she loses patience very quickly and comes off a little rude. I’m sure she doesn’t mean for it to come off this way, but it does make the whole experience a little uncomfortable. Regardless, I always recommend this shop to my friends and still very much respect the quality of piercers and jewelry!

I came in for jewelry but I wasn’t sure which size I needed so I was told to have Erika evaluate. I told them if they let me look I could figure it out but they insisted I needed to go to the back.I walked in the back with her and she was so rude off the bat and made me super uncomfortable with her snappy responses and patronizing tone. I was just nervous, not stupid, but she made me feel like a child being reprimanded for not knowing what I needed.She told me next time I needed to let the staff change my jewelry, but if she had listened to me, she would’ve known that I have had my piercing for 4 years so I don’t feel the need to have someone do what I can comfortably do and have been doing for years.I felt so uncomfortable I finally said “I don’t really care what I get, I’ll get whatever you say I just need something to replace this temporary jewelry I have in” and she proceeded to say “well if you had let me finish” then continued to patronize me and “educate” me about how I need to care about the gauge (I do care, I just wanted her to stop talking to me like I was 5 years old).I was happy with the price and front staff, but won’t be back and told my friends to go somewhere else if they’re considering going here. Not worth the attitude and discomfort.

Amazing experience! I made an appointment without a preference on who I saw, and got scheduled with Lou. I needed a second opinion on a nose piercing that I wasnt comfortable with how it was healing. He listened, didnt rush me out of his room, and gave me the advice that I didnt want to hear but that I needed. He removed the jewelry so that the piercing could heal properly. I went back today to have my other nostril pierced, because I was impressed with his honesty and approach to my whole situation. What a night and day experience compared to a certain piercing shop in El Cajon! Everyone there was super friendly each time I came in. Amazing selection of jewelry and friendly advice. Im looking forward to my follow up appointment in a few weeks!

I was worried because there are a couple bad reviews, but my experience was only positive, the person at the front desk was nice, my piercer, Evan, was very friendly and did a great job. My only complaint is the price, even for super basic silver earrings was $30 for the piercing and $40 for the backs, so $70 simple little earrings. I think its worth it for the quality of the piercing, but I do wish Id known that all of their earrings are expensive beforehand.

I highly recommend this place to anyone getting a piercing for the first time. Evan was my piercer and he was very kind, gentle, and explained the whole process from start to finish. The staff are welcoming and professional, the shop is clean and comfortable, and the jewelry is beautiful. I love my nose and helix piercings, and I hope to go back for another soon!

Best piercing experience I’ve ever had, jewelry is on point, piercers actually take the time to get the placement right, heals perfectly as they use titanium posts for cartilage, no problem, thanks

I went here for my birthday to get double helix piercings.The good thing about this place is that its clean and it has a beautiful wide range of jewelry to pick from.The jewelry is super expensive because its all unique & very high quality.The thing I didnt like about this place was that the front desk girl as well as the piercer were very stand-off-ish. They almost seemed stuck up. Like if youre not covered in piercings or tattoos youre not part of the club type of vibe. I had told both women that it was my birthday & I was excited about getting new piercings. I was being friendly & making small talk but both of them were very cold, & not welcoming at all. Like theyre too cool too talk to you there.They know that theyre a well known piercing spot with some of the best jewelry in town, so theyre going to have customers regardless. I guess for them thats enough, they dont need to include customer service skills, theyre cool enough with just that.

I just moved to San Diego and needed a new piercer. I was referred to Enigma and Evan by a close friend because she is diligent about good piercers and shops. I went to the one on Adams Street. I was not disappointed. They have a good selection of quality jewelry and can custom order what they do not have in stock. They have a sanitation machine and even show you the result of your jewelry sanitation before doing the piercing. Evan was very professional, communicated every step he was doing before he did it and was great at helping with deciding on jewelry placement (which is helpful when your ears already have 15 piercings already and plan for more). I highly recommend him and this shop.

Ive come here a couple times for piercings and jewelry! They were very clean and informative throughout the process and were happy to answer all my questions. Recently, I had delivery issues with my order and they were able to help out, which I appreciated a lot. It took some time, but I was able to come by and pick it up. Came here for my first piercing ever, so it was a new experience for me. The person at the counter was standoffish and entirely unhelpful. Although picking my jewelry wasnt pleasant as I wish I had more help... the actual piercing experience was great!! Lou was awesome and Id highly recommend.

This is the second piercing at Enigma for two of my daughters and each experience has been great. Everyone is friendly and professional. They explained the process and after care well. Great selection of jewelry and everything is clean and sterile. We wont go anywhere else.

Very expensive but an amazing place all around. great sterilization process and very nice people. my piercer was Erika and shes very understanding and lets you take your time and set your own pace. just be prepared to spend around 100-150 even for a simple pair of ear piercings. definitely expensive but not overpriced. they have top of the line mirror finish jewellery and a wide selection. Id definitely recommend to anyone who can afford it.

Evan was great! He was right on time, friendly, and explained exactly what he was doing step by step. He told me what I should expect before, during, and after the piercing. Everything was extremely clean and sanitary. My only complaint is that it was a bit chaotic when I got there with only 1 person at the front counter, but Ive only been there 1x so naybe they were just short handed. I do recommend reading all of the information and instructions online. It helped me know exactly what I needed and the staff appreciated it.

Both lobe piercings bruised a lot but never luckily got infected. My earring pins were not bent properly which caused my earrings to constantly fall out and eventually I lost one. Price is very high compared to other pierce shops and jewelry options are ugly unless you buy the expensive ones. Overall dissapointed.

Josh did an excellent job with my nipple piercings. Gentle, thorough and took the time to really explain aftercare and maintenance. Definitely never going to anyone else for future piercings! Thanks so much Enigma!

I got 2 piercings there probably a year ago now it was a good experience, the piercings were done well and are now fully healed. I spent 140.20 dollars for both nostrils including the jewlery.

I don’t normally leave reviews but I have to say the customer service at Enigma on Adams was the poorest I have experienced at a piercing shop possibly ever in my life.I called in and very politely asked for some information about a really old piercing suddenly acting up, trying to see when they’d have a availability to look at it, and the counter guy was incredibly rude, condescending, unfriendly, and overall absolutely unsympathetic. He also purposely hung up on me for absolutely no reason.I am very sensitive to supporting the small businesses in my own neighborhood, I put a lot of effort into building positive, long lasting relationships, and having had customer service experience in my past jobs I understand people maybe having a bad day, but this behavior was unacceptable, and quite honestly, ridiculous and uncalled for.Sadly I am seeing from other reviews that I am not alone. I definitely won’t ever try going back there and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

I’ve been here for myself previously and was excited to take my 9 year old daughter in to get her ears pierced after making an appointment on their website. The man at the counter couldn’t find our appointment and did nothing in the way of trying to help us figure out what happen. He didn’t offer another time/day. He didn’t apologize for the inconvenience. He was completely unfriendly and unprofessional. My daughter had been looking forward to the appointment for over a week and was so disappointed. She left and said “ He could have at least offered us an appointment for tomorrow!”. She’s clearly better with customer service than he was. I told her he was so unfriendly I wouldn’t want him piercing her ears anyway. Won’t go back.

The salesperson out front was pretty uncaring and snippyAs the first time Ive ever been there I was very uncomfortable. I appreciate Enigmas high standard of professionalism in their service. I went there years ago to have my nose pierced the first time. Since then, I tried a few other places for piercings because the prices were low. Unfortunately, so were the services and quality. So when I went for my latest piercing I wanted to make sure the work and the jewelry were the best quality. I knew I couldnt go wrong with Enigma. The only reason I am giving them 4 stars is because I think they could use one more person behind the register. When I went to change my jewelry out last time, there was a long wait. I think it would be helpful to have one additional employee when the shop gets busy.

The staff was quite rude with appointment timings and piercing selection. Piercings were good but they charge you for everything (even follow up appointments..!), without much transparecy (you have to ask the price of every single piece, since it’s not displayed). You need to be strict with the booking time but then wait quite a while… overall piercings were good but staff was mediocre.

Went in for my septum piercing. It was quick and got straightforward aftercare instructions. I was surprised to find out that the starter jewelry was a retainer and would be flipped up. I had not found that information on prior reviews or on the website, so maybe this will help others! It’s a great option if you need to hide it for any reason.

I came into the shop excited for a belly ring because I was in need of one, and was hit with the worst customer service. Super un inviting and cold. This was the first jewelers I’ve been to that had several different sizes which is cool. However when I asked the piercers for what size is the typical standard shops have in display since I’m unfamiliar with sizing, I was hit with there’s no standard and wasn’t helped with the sizing at all. Every time they showed me a belly ring I would ask is there a bigger one and they flat out scoffed and said yeah like I’m supposed to know. Tried it on after leaving just to be left with a belly ring that doesn’t fit the way I would like it. Literally wasted $ 160 because no one wanted to educate me. Not to mention another employee stepped in just to restate the same thing and be of no help.

Got my verticle labret done here recently. Short wait time, helpful staff, and theyre always very clean & professional. I didnt bring someone with me this time for a second opinion, but my piercer Evan took the time with me to make sure I felt good with the placement. I have come here for all my piercings, except my ears. And I will continue to come here. They also have good quality jewelry to choose from. Well worth the drive for me.

The first time I came into the shop I was pierced by Lou; I was late because I couldn’t find parking and I’m not originally from San Diego, so I didn’t know what to expect. I called before hand to say I would be late and when I arrived my piercer was slamming multiple doors and making the environment feel very uncomfortable.When we went to the back I apologized and spoke with him to calm the situation down; afterwards he said if I came back in a month we could talk about a hoop since I was disappointed I couldn’t get one on my initial piercing.Flash forward to today, a month later, I did my best to do everything right by their “policies” so I could have a pleasant experience; I was expecting to have a hoop put in as that is what I was told, explicitly, by the other piercer.I decided to choose a different piercer this time because I was scared to get treated badly again. She repeatedly told me I had misunderstood and heard wrong when I know what I was told.This shop really needs to start training their employees to be more gracious because at this point Evan is the only piercer I’ve heard any positive things about.Obviously I won’t be returning..-update, i’ve come home to find out my piercer today screwed my new gem on lop sided so now it sits at an angle.

I have actually never written a review in my life, Ive worked in customer service for YEARS... I get it, people have bad days. However, the people here are straight up rude, and reading other reviews I can see Im not alone. I actually tried to come here for a walk in a week ago and they were booked up, which is totally fine. But the woman and the front desk was was rude and had zero interest in our questions, again bad days I get it. So last weekend one of my new piercings (from somewhere else) came out, I was in a panic. I could not find the earring anywhere in my room, so I shoved a random earring in the hole, which immediately started bleeding. I didnt know what to do. SO I called enigma because its the closest place, the woman was extremely rude on the phone but said if they had time they could get me an earring. Cool, so I went in full panic mode. Again the rudest woman on the planet, I asked for a starter earring, she said we dont do that. Ok, so if I was getting pierced there what would you give me? Problem solved, I get the earring, I hear the woman answer the phone (also rudely) and someone cancelled an appt that was in 2 minutes. A nice person who saw me crying probably wouldve offered to give me the slot. Did she? No she straight up looked me in the face and said, were totally booked right now we cant put it in. Ok cool, can I use the bathroom (as im crying still). She said yeah we cant really have that in there referring to my blood .Ok i get it, its a clean place, but I am crying, have a random earring shoved in my ear, my ear is bleeding and this woman gave me ZERO help. Long story over, never come here unless you enjoy rude people.

First time here I kick myself for not coming here first I had Dermals put in a few months ago somewhere else here in San Diego had some issues and couldnt get it right..I came here today had two Dermal removed due them piercing out of my skin.. The front counter gentleman was super friendly sorry I forgot to get his name.. the piercer was a guest piercer by the name of JR from Philadelphia he was super friendly and explained everything he was going to do...This is my go to spot for all of my future piercings..LOVE THIS PLACE.. Only one down fall is the parking had to park two blocks away I was afraid I was going to be late for my appointment fortunately after circling around twice I found parking two blocks away. Well worth the walk.

Got my 5 month old daughters ears pierced and did a double helix for myself. Didier did is both and he was very quick and informative. The shop was super clean and they had good jewelry selection. Highly recommend.

I have been in the Adams Ave location 2 times. First time was great, although one of my helix piercings never healed. The second time I went, a lady with short black hair and tattoos was extremely rude. I went to get one of my tragi pierced and it came out so uneven compared to the one I had in the opposite side. The guy just said, “oh I wish I would of changed the earring before piercing, but dont worry, it looks like that because of the swelling.” 6 months later and it still looks the same. Also jewelry is way over priced. I bought a pair of sapphire earrings for $560. 6months later two of the sapphires from one of the earrings turned a yellow black color. I feel ripped off. DO NOT GET YOUR PIERCINGS at Enigma.

Enigma is a contender for best piercing shop in SD. One of the only shops Id recommend. These are skilled professionals doing good work. They have high-end jewelry as well as more standard but still high quality jewelry. A little pricey but if you want a hole poked in your body, your money is well spent here!

Visited yesterday to get my jewlery downsized and had erika help me. She seem visibly annoyed and even heard her say jesus christ as soon as she went into another room to get something. Terrible experience and very unfriendly. Do not request her.

I waited to see how it would heal before writing a review, and I must say that Im very disappointed with the result of my nose piercing. I waited an entire year to change to a hoop, but as can be seen, the piercing was done crooked, leading to the hoop not sitting properly and being angled towards the front. What isnt as visible is the fact that the piercing hole was also angled downwards instead of going straight through. I could understand if I got this done in some back alley, but I payed pretty decent money for this to be done at Enigma. The only reason Im giving two stars instead of one is because both Rubi and Evan are phenomenal people and great piercers. Not so sure about the person who did my nose piercing, though.

I went in for a jewelry change today and cant believe how rude and rough Erica was. Literally in shock that shes a piercing professional. This place is the opposite of warm and inviting. If you want a good experience, dont go to Enigma on Adams Ave.

I stopped in today to purchase a new piece of jewelry. The shop is beautiful and they have gorgeous jewelry. That being said, the customer service was really unhelpful and uninviting. It felt like the staff just wanted to rush me out, and I felt stupid asking questions. I probably wouldn’t go back purely for this reason.

Evan put my BVLA septum piece back in in under a minute. I was there for less than five minutes. Fabulous experience. I will be going back in the future for additional changes.

Ive been thinking of getting a forward helix piercing done and happened to be close by so I decided to stop in. Erika did my piercing and she was great. My friend went through here and told me about her horrible experience with a rude older lady. You know who you are. She was genuinely upset and I remind you to treat people with more respect and decency. This disappointing behavior from Enigma’s employee should push future customers to reconsider.

Not a good experience and Ive been to many piercing shops in San Diego. Overall, just poor attitudes, not knowledgeable, and false pricing. Was told $500 for solid gold belly ring and when rang up the cost was $625.00. Should of made them take it out of my girlfriend but it was a Christmas gift. If you get a bad vibe from the get go, stay with your gut instinct and shop elsewhere. Unfortunately they were the only ones with solid gold belly rings in stock.

I had a really good experience here getting jewelry swapped out. The piercer was friendly and provided some helpful tips for caring for my piercing which was healing from an infection. I havent bought jewelry here as its rather expensive but it looks to be high quality and they have a ton of interesting pieces.

I went in to replace a rook ear piercing. The shop was very clean and very organized. I first thought that signing a huge release just to buy jewelry was a bit much but thinking about it, the organization skill of keeping track, I would MUCH rather have a company be on top of sht!! Plus I wasn’t thinking about it at the time that a piercer would be putting In the new earring piece. So I’m glad they are thorough!I signed the release and answered all my questions. Both piercers there were very informative and helpful as to why my current ear piece may have been bothering me. The ladies behind the counter were also very nice.The gentleman who changed out my ear piece was Didier. Very very cool guy! Helpful, informative, funny and made me feel at ease, Thank you Didier! But they were all great and I was very very pleased to see that they were strict about keeping clean, and wearing their masks PROPERLY! ...as I am trying to be just as careful so I felt comfortable in their environment!

I have been going to Evan ever since 2011 when he worked at Church of Steel down town. I have not always been regular about coming to him for jewellery but every time I have been back, he has been excellent. He is very sweet and takes his time to make sure the jewelry fits the way it should. I have brought a friend in to Evan before to get her nose and tragus pierced and she was very happy and it looked great and healed beautifully. I have not had any new piercings in about 7 years, but when I do get more he will be the only one I will go to.I went in today to get a peice of jewelry that had broken replaced and to get a proper size for a bar backing for one of my ear piercings. It had been 7 months since I had had some other guy pierecer at Enigma put them in for me.... he had not done a good job I regret to say... but I do not remember his name. Evan was so nice and even though I had waited way too long to get it fixed by Enigma for free... he gave the bar to me free of charge anyways. I am very grateful and recommend to all who go to Enigma to see Evan. I garnetee you will have an excellent experience with him. Thank you Evan! I appreciate you.

Total Pros! My daughter has had many piercings, and when she visited and I decided I was ready to both get some old ear piercings opened up and have a nasal piercing, she insisted I go to Enigma because its piercers are the only ones in San Diego listed with the Association of Professional Piercers. They did not disappoint. I had my work done in Pacific Beach, and when one of her earrings came off (and, later, after one of mine did), she (then I) went to the Normal Heights location. ONLY place to go!

Do yourself a favor and dont come here.Then, you wont have to deal with the grossly condescending guy at the front desk. Doesnt matter how polite you yourself are, you probably will still get treated the same.Highly doubt the management can or will do anything about the horrid customer service. Just wanted give a warning to anyone interested in coming here. Tattoo parlors/other piercing shops are probably A LOT cheaper anyways.

They are great, everything is spotless clean, the selection of jewelry is good. Doug did a great job helping me today, very professional and explained everything as he went along.Just be aware it can get very busy on the weekends.

Customer service here is awful. I had made an appointment for a nose piercing, and when booking the appointment online it was asking for a $30 non-refundable deposit, however it said on the website that the deposit would be used towards the service. I obviously didnt mind paying the $30 as it would be used for the service anyways. When it came to paying after the service i had made a total purchase of $60 but the subtotal on the receipt said $80. When asked about it all i was told was the subtotal says $80 if you want you can email the manager not only am i being charged an extra $20 for nothing but the $30 deposit used towards the service was actually only $20 they took off my total. i called and asked about it and they said i shouldve only been charged $20 and offered no help to fix it or refund it. It was honestly just a sketchy situation since i am losing $30 with no explanation as to why or any help to fix it. Really disappointed as i had high hopes for this place with all the good reviews i saw but theyre just really unwilling to help resolve the problem.

I brought my 5 year old daughter here to get her ears pierced. I am a medical professional and work in the ER. They had fantastic sterile technique and hygiene practices. Also, the piercer used every tactic Ive ever been taught for doing procedures with kids. These guys are truly professionals.

This is the sister shop to my favorite place in Santa Cruz. Its the only place where my cartilage piercing was literally painless and healed faster than any other piercings Ive had. Think its time to do my tragus and this is the only place to go in SD.

I didn’t even get to make it into this shop. I had read reviews and saw they did great work, so I had called to ask if they did a certain kind of piercing. Instead of saying yes or no, the woman who answered the phone just hung up on me.

I came here to get my nose pierced and when i called he said i could walk in. When i get there he said its an hour wait. Everytime you go to this place nobody can help. So you stand around waiting an hour just to replace a nose ring.

The person at the front is very rude. I walked in to purchase jewelry and he made sure to mention I didn’t have an appointment every chance the got. Not helpful whatsoever not even willing to answer very simple questions all I got was shoulder shrugs which was very frustrating. Ended up walking out which is a shame because they have a good selection of jewelry. Very frustrating experience

I do not recommend this establishment for a dermal removal , the guy literally ripped it off my face !!! and left me a gaping hole , and now i have a scar bump on my face !!!

Great experience and the piercing price is right. But the jewelry is very expensive! For example: This single earring was $135 so just know that going in.
