The office is clean and very well maintained. The office staff were friendly and helped with my paper work. The appointment was on time. The med staff were very professional and helped with my evaluation. Dr Lee has a confident manner that made me feel at ease. I was pleased with his attention to detail. I found Dr Blake searching Google. My prior dermatologist was amazing and loved her, but she’s no longer practicing. I didn’t search by distance but by customer reviews since that’s more important to me. Dr Blake was fantastic. Put me at ease. He’s very knowledgeable and kind and has fabulous bedside manner. Would recommend anyone to go to him.

I’ve been going to MedDerm Associates and seeing Dr. Patrick Blake for my annual skin surveys 1-2 times a year for over 5 years now and I cannot recommend them enough! He is thorough and has such great bedside manor and all of his staff are so pleasant. Dr. Blake listens to your concerns and provides great options for treatment. I’ve even had to message in the portal once regarding a concern and he got back to me very quickly. I’ve recommended him to multiple of my friends and coworkers and they are all so pleased with him as well. If you are looking for a derm you can trust, look no further!

I loved everything about this office! Front office was very organized and the office is very clean. I saw Dr Bake for the first time and he was excellent! My husband was referred to him first and he came home with only nice things to say about his office so I immediately I set an appointment. He and his assistant are very professional. I’ve had lots of basil cell and melanoma skin cancers starting at age 40 and now at 70 I’m starting to have a lot more. Dr Blake did 2 biopsies and he immediately said we need to start a plan with your skin. Thank goodness I found him because I was in between dermatologist! He’s the best! Thank you!

Even though it can be hard to get an appointment with the doctor I want, they are very engaged, listen to my needs, and address all of my concerns. Plus I love Dr Blake. He’s great!

I called to schedule an appointment as a new patient & was able to be seen quickly by a doctor which was great. However, the day before the appointment I received a text notifying me that $115 would be due at check in as I have a high deductible health insurance plan & have not reached my deductible. This was not disclosed at the time of scheduling my appointment - I’ve been to many specialist including other dermatologist & this has never happened before. I canceled my appointment in annoyance and scheduled at another clinic here in San Diego which does not have this policy.

All the staff are professional, I felt welcomed. Everyone seems happy to be there with smiles. Clean and comfortable rooms. Dr. Lee puts you at ease and shows genuine concern and empathy. When I was checking out, front desk staff opened the door for me as I am using a walker.

I love MedDerm! I was in need of urgent dermatological care, and they were able to get me seen in less than 24 hours. Service was expedient and every staff member was majorly attentive. Dr. Moore and Jasmine (I apologize if I mistaken any names, Im so bad with them), were absolutely lovely and compassionate. They addressed my needs, explained everything, and are the standard of care I always hope to have when I feel unwell. Parking was great! I didnt mind paying for the ease of access in an area where parking can be so limited. Ive been to a lot of Derms and MedDerm tops the list for excellent care!

My fulfilling experience with Dr. Sarah Moore resulted in an immediate improvement in my rosacea condition. She has motivated me to drastically better my self skin treatments ( regular sunscreen use - duh). Her entire body skin exam was thorough and she explained everything as she went. Her assistant , Sage, was helpful and professional. The staff was friendly and helped to give me my lab results clearly and succinctly. I am extremely satisfied with the results of choosing to see Dr. Moore for my dermatological needs. I highly recommend her .

Both Dr Moore and Lindsay were excellent. I just want information from professionals so I can make decisions. I’ve actually been waiting 5 years to make that decision on something that turned out to be fairly small. They both delivered on information delivery and evaluation as well as listened to my hair brained idea about what might be going on then proceeded with a simple procedure.There is still a mark where the procedure was done yesterday but I expect that will go away. I’ll let you know otherwise!

The staff provided excellent care from checking in as a new patient at the front desk to treatment with Dr Doong and her assistant Lindsay. I love this office! Dr Moore was great. She explained my issues and gave sound advice. The only issue I had with MedDerm is that the address is on 5th St but the entrance to the garage is on the 6th St exit ramp from CA163. Because this was so totally unexpected, I missed the parking garage entrance and had to circle back when I realized that was the entrance. You should put that on your website and text messages you send to patients. Otherwise, this experience was great!

People who care!Jay was AMAZING the moment he walked in. He took the time to explain what was going on with my son’s skin and what steps to take to help him heal. He also has an amazing team Karina and Patty. I highly recommend this Dermatology office they have GREAT teamwork!

Dr. Sarah Moore was the highlight of my visit. She is so upbeat — her smiling and laughing style put me immediately at ease! Her assistant was also outstanding! Both were efficient, performed some amazing procedures on my lower legs, scalp and forehead that were most impressive. I highly recommend MedDerm Dermatology!

Jay is always so thorough, efficient and friendly when I come in to get skin checks. He explains everything in a way I can understand. When I needed a mole removed he helped me feel as comfortable as possible.I also appreciate that there is hardly ever a wait to be seen. I am taken back within a few minutes of my appointment time.

Dr. Pelle and her team are the best! I have been going to dermatologist for years and not one had taken my skin concerns as serious as she did. Not only did she put me on a better medication but also found another underlying condition that needed to be addressed by a rheumatologist. I’m super grateful.

Incredibly great care. I waited for so short a time I didnt even get a chance to fully fill out the paper work the top notch staff gave me.Dr Sarah was amazing. Friendly, warm, examined me gently and described exactly what she saw. She found a sketchy growth in my skin that she froze off and painlessly removed a mile from my back that they are sending off to be biopsied.Big plus is I HAVE A GIANT CRUSH on her.

I have been a patient of Dr Pelle for over a decade. I have a medical condition that she has been managing the entire time. She is kind and professional but most importantly she is a great doctor. Her practice provides cosmetic procedures and treatments now but at the core is UCSD top notch training in dermatology. Whatever you need in skincare I would recommend you check out MedDerm

Dr. Lees expertise is undeniable; their assistance with both my mothers and my own skin concerns was invaluable. However, my overall experience was marred by a single staff member. During a conversation, there was a misunderstanding regarding a promised discount, which the staff member did not recall. Despite my attempts to clarify, she repeatedly interrupted and dismissed me, stating they had more pressing matters. Her demeanor implied mistrust, leaving me feeling unfairly judged. This interaction was disappointing, especially considering the positive encounters Ive had with other staff. Regrettably, I wont be returning.

I’ve been treated by many doctors at Dermatology Associates over the years and they’ve all taken good care of me and my skincare. Highly recommend.

UPDATE 4/15: I am editing my original review because upon my initial feedback, the owners reached out to me to try to right my experience. I was grateful for their attention to my concerns and for the efforts they made to squeeze me in and try to resolve what went wrong with my procedure, but I still dont know if my issue will be fully resolved unfortunately as it is still worse than when I originally went in (albeit its better than it was after the 1st terrible appointment and the immediate aftermath). Im hoping with time and after my next follow-up, it continues to heal and if it does I will continue to update my review but for now I am extremely impressed with their immediate attention to detail and trying to make the situation/experience better.It was my 1st time here and I was extremely disappointed and frustrated with my experience. I went in to have something on my skin removed that was extremely small and after the short/rushed procedure, it has healed literally 100x worse. I went in for a follow-up and felt left completely in the dark with no options. I know theyre churning patients in and out in 15 minute appointment windows but it didnt feel like enough time to truly be heard in my 1st appointment and with my concerns and now I am left with a situation that is so much worse and its really disheartening and scary as I hope it heals okay. I think theyre fine rushing thru patients b/c they force you to pay for the appt prior to the visit so regardless of it you leave happy or comfortable or okay, they make their money. I followed the post procedure directions to a tee and I feel as though the Dr. just didnt thoughtfully listen and was rushing me in my 1st appt - as I was asking questions, she was already removing the materials from the packaging for the removal procedure trying to get to her next appt in 15 minutes. I am surprised by all of the great reviews as that is why I went here and trusted this office having to find a new derm in SD after moving from Chicago, but my experience was far from ideal. I now have to deal with finding another more trusted office/derm to handle this skin issue which is so much worse than it already was, I would definitely not return here.

In addition to being a highly skilled and professional MOHS surgeon, Dr Michael Lee is incredibly caring, kind, thorough and generous with his time. He explained his findings completely and clearly. His entire office staff is also wonderful. After my visit I felt confident and reassured by the care and treatment I received which was a huge relief for me since I had a large invasive squamous cancer removed from my face in 2019. I had my first visit at MedDerm and was extremely pleased. The entire staff was courteous and professional. I would highly recommend MedDerm to everyone.

I was able to get an appointment on short notice. Everyone was very professional and worked in sync with the Dr. on an unscheduled surgery to handle my issue.

After being prescribed two months of doxycycline for a rash on my face I lost the ability to eat for a week, lost 30 lbs in two months, have lost the ability to digest a variety of foods, and my rash never went away. When I returned they prescribed a bar of salycilic acid+sulfur soap - great for staving off acne and did nothing for the rash. Then a steroid cream, which is a total bandaid and the rash always comes back. These people are highly rated and I gave them every opportunity to fix this but they really dont seem capable. They also never took any accountability for basically ruining my life for three months over a persistent rash. So thats cool. Dont go here.

I have a history of basal cell carcinoma, have been treat by many fine dermatolosists, and feel confident and secure with Dr. Pelle, whom I consider among the finest in her field.

I had a rare and troubling diagnosis at another dermatologist who told me to come back in 6 weeks. After looking into it I felt that I needed to go to Med Derm to see what their thoughts were. I was fortunate to get an appointment with Dr. Michael Lee. Dr Lee did a quick biopsy, explained what positive results will mean for treatment, he has experience with my condition and we will follow up as soon as the results return. He has a state of the art plan in place.His assistant Carly was thorough, professional, caring and smart. I am in very good hands. Go here, your health and piece of mind are worth it. I completely recommend Med Derm.

Am I ever so thankful to have found this group of wonderful people!!!!!! Office is so nice and ALL staff, front desk and the doctors and nurses and assistants are all super nice and patient! Jay Blake came in and treated me with empathy like a human who had been dealing with a condition for 4 years and 2 doctors and zero results. Never even was able to get a proper diagnosis. Jay is so knowledgeable and was able to properly diagnose me AND start me in treatment! He was very thorough on what I must do for the next 2 months to get my face back! I came in for a skin allergy test. Everyone at the clinic were nice and professional. The test was already set up and the doctor was happy to answer any questions. My back has 81 possible allergens. When I finish the test, they’re going to set me up with an app where I can scan products to see if it will cause me an allergic reaction. I am very excited to see what’s been causing my body rash for over 10 years!

Great clinic! I was recommended to Medderm by a friend and they were awesome. Everything was clean and efficient. Dr. Moore was amazing, definitely recommend her. They will be the only derm I trust from now on, especially with anything on my face. Dr. Pele is Superwoman!! She has found squamous cancer cells when another doctor told me that I had to quit complaining. So, she saved my life! She is a beautiful woman who has established and grown her practice to be a successful well oiled (or lubricated in this case) machine that is able to make so many more patients well! She has the most beautiful skin and I would buy any product she recommends if I could have skin like that! She is personable and always remembers to ask about my kids. Ive gone to Dr Lee for a few years now. Hes the most thorough dermatologist Ive seen. I trust his work, and hes a super nice guy. I go about twice a year. When my insurance changed I made sure he was part of my new insurance program instead of picking a new Dr.

Answered all my questions, was very thorough with my skin check, and I was extremely pleased that he uses the handheld scope to look at moles. The empathy Jay showed for my past treatments and conditions was something I have never encountered in the hundreds of appointments I have been to.I just want to say thank you for making me feel like a human and making the appointment a real interaction.If you are thinking of switching derms, please give them a shot. The office is well run. Ive been coming here for a few years. Unfortunately, my doctor, Dr. Dong, is nearly impossible to hear or understand. Although her technical skills are good, communication with her is difficult.

Great first visit with this office. Had the PA and he was incredibly thorough, professional and friendly and not at all rushed. Addressed all my problems and explained in laymans terms. Definitely going back

Everyone at MedDerm was very nice. They called me into the office promptly after signing in, which is unusual at a doctors office, and nurse Jay also came in promptly...even more unusual at a doctors office! Jay, the nurse who I picked, was very polite and knowledgeable. He did a thorough exam and explained everything very well. I understood him well, even though I have terrible hearing. He was willing to cold burn whatever area I asked that was proper to. I walked out feeling very competent on his prognosis, and was overall very happy with their attitude. Their price was also very reasonable. I would definitely see them next time for any skin issues.

Long time patient. Had intermittent condition that needed seeing within 72 hours or itd be gone. Called and put on hold for 15 minutes before hanging up. Theres at least 2 receptionist in office; theres no excuse to be put on hold for 15 minutes without any response. Eventually got call back after leaving info and got in in couple days. Similar happened elsewhere couple weeks ago. Doctors apparently dont have clue how the front/back office staff impact patient experience. Who ever writes this stuff after appt handled adequately. They SHOULD. Its as big a factor in staying with a provider as insurance is.

Clean, professional, pleasant, and respectful of my time. It was the first time ever a doctor showed up on time for an appointment I had. Dr. Lee and his assistant were very kin and professional. I was in and out in about 15 minutes with everything I needed. The parking is also very convenient (though it costs $3)

Dr Pelle and her staff are excellent! I feel confident my skin health is in great hands!

I was referred to Dr. Pelle by my regular dermatologist after exploring several ideas and tests to identify the cause of my unrelenting skin rash. Dr Lee is the absolute best!!!!!!! He has changed my life. Not only is his bedside manner immaculate but his clinical expertise is through the roof. I have Kaiser Insurance but they sent me to MedDerm for allergy testing. They were really great from making the appointment to sending emails handling all the Insurance info and were very nice during the appointment explaining the procedure. Beautiful office very clean and helpful knowledgeable staff.

I will definitely go back HOWEVER, the only thing I would say as a black person going into a clinic getting skin care from is that it’s different for everyone. I saw Dr Judy Doong that day I went there asking for something specific and was given a bar of soap for treatment as if I didn’t have the money to pay for the treatment which offended me. I had to ask Dr. Doong, for the treatment which cost me 150 and I didn’t hesitate to pay for it. Mind you I had more money to pay for the procedure I just didn’t want her working on my face any longer than what I needed her to as I felt insulted by the experience and wanted to get out.I spent 140 in there for the consultation with the doctor however she could have done better with giving me all the treatment options. You know what she gives me? A bar of soap. I tell Dr. Doong, what treatment I was given in the past with other doctors. Dr. Doong gives me a bar of soap and wants to be on her merry way rushed. I was polite about it. Maybe if your of color go with another doctor b/c she will be dismissive and give you a bar of soap. She didn’t seem to care.She could have done better with her customer service skills. She wasn’t rude. Either way I got what I wanted because I asked for not because she offered it but next time I won’t be asking for her again. I will say that the nurse that was present was very pleasant and respectful and a witness to everything.

Dr. Moore is so amazing. Amazing bedside manner and a wealth of knowledge

Dr. Lee improved his procedure with broadband since last year by using an electric cooling fan. So it was so much better because I didnt feel any discomfort.

I have been going to Med Derm with Dr. Pele since 2010 . She is an excellent dermatologist she first help my first grandchild granddaughter when she was only six months old with eczema a challenging problem with all of us, but Dr Pele help us a lot on how to manage it. Now my whole family is under her care . Thank you very much Dr Pele I really appreciate you very much as well as your good staff.

I can not say enough good things about Dr Lee. I have never felt so cared for or validated by a clinician before. I struggled with acne for 10+ years and Dr Lee was the first doctor to tell me he sees full recovery in my future!!! Accutane is no joke but was so simple and manageable with Dr Lee!!! 🤍

This doctor is the definition of AMAZING! I chose this Derm through my ppo insurance. Other doctors should take notes from Dr Jay Blake! Not only does he listen to your concerns, he actually gives you eye contact, he address your concerns in a calming verbal manner & is not racing to leave the room like other doctors offices I usually encounter. He truly looks for the best option for his patients and is so welcoming that you look forward to returning. I know I do! Now only am I in and out of there within less than 40 minutes but their office takes all the safe measures when being seen. I literally told the doctor & his nurse that I had a great experience there the FIRST visit. I have now moved but I am not changing my Derm doctor, ever, at all! Now I just hope he doesn’t retire so I can continue to have him as my Derm doctor forever!! Lol. The only down side about coming here is parking but what do you expect it’s Hillcrest which is a popular urban area. Besides that look no further this doctor is a gem including his staff!

Ive been one of Dr. Pelles patients for at least three years now and am very impressed by her and feel at ease around her and the clinic staff. My latest/newest issue is in my lower back and Dr. Pelles bedside manner is respectful and professional making it less uncomfortable to show such private areas of my body. I really appreciate that she took time to show me Internet photos of my conditions that are hard to see.Dr. Pelle moves quick, but never rushed. I was worried at first that I may not find a parking space but was very impressed by how convenient the parking structure was to getting to the clinic. And this is no small business by no means there are many people working behind the scenes that you dont see in the front. It was my first time I had visited a dermatology before. I felt the doctors and assistants were very professional and very easy to speak to about some not so easy to speak about issues.. I felt very comfortable and would definitely refer friends and family to this practice.

I forgot to write this review awhile ago - but almost 2 years ago I came here for a mole on my leg. The doctor didn’t even do a biopsy he did a sticker thing where he scraped off some skin cells and sent it to a lab which would say worrisome or not worrisome - he also never mentioned it cost $700. He then called me and was like yeah it came back not so great nothing terrible but should get it removed and then referred me to a cosmetic surgeon who was going to be completely out of pocket - I called them and they were confused why I was even calling them to get the spot removed because they don’t do cancer tests just cosmetic mole removal. I just said screw it and went to scripps - they did a biopsy and weren’t even sure why a dermatologist would just do a skin scrape and turned out it was melanoma - so much for “not being that bad”. They immediately referred me to a surgeon who does moh’s surgery specifically for skin cancer. Anyways these people are not a great place to go for worrisome skin spots. Maybe to get Botox or a cream for a zit.

My husband and I have both been patients of this practice for over 15 years. We have always been pleased with the care received. Today was sort of an exception…a good one! My husband had a sore on his arm that would not heal. Concerned it might be an infection that required antibiotics, we called MedDerm for guidance. They suggested we text them a picture. In short order, they called back, saying we should come to the office ASAP. We got there within an hour and learned that the spot was a fast growing cancer that would require surgical removal. In what seemed like only minutes, the entire thing was excised, his arm was stitched, and we were on our way home! Their quick and welcomed response was such a relief. Very happy with them!

Dr. Pelle - quick efficient professional and apologised for being so quick - told her thrilled that she can do so much and so proficient - yes hard on doc to do 15 minute new patient exams but for what I needed she was able to do it all. One biopsy and one laser burn off. Impressed.

Since 2018, I have been looking for a dermatologist to treat my sebaceous hyperplasia. I have seen four (4) different dermatologists and would leave the offices defeated, being told that they did not treat them or be blessed because that meant I would not get wrinkles. Even feeling defeated, I kept trying. My last dermatologist told me I needed a cosmetic dermatologist, which would cost a lot for the removal. However, I did not give up. I started searching for a dermatologist in my local area that treated medical and cosmetic patients and took my insurance for at least the initial patient consultation. This was when I came across MedDerm from the initial phone call, making the appointment, and my appointment day the staff was fabulous. However, I kept my expectations low with treatment after being told many times that there was nothing to be done by other dermatologists. To my amazement not only did Dr. Pelle treat the sebaceous hyperplasia but she did it the same day as my consultation. I was relieved I finally was able to get the pesky bumps removed from my forehead (sebaceous hyperplasia), and she prescribed a topical cream to assist with the prevention of them returning. I am beyond happy and would recommend MedDerm, and Dr. Pelle to anyone!!!! I will be returning for sure if I have any other dermatology needs.

Dr Woodhall is a first class human. In the initial consult she was so kind and smart. She treated me just as nicely as her high end clients. Parking is tough... in the structure is $3 hour and they dont validate unless its a 2 hr visit.

I love MedDerm. Ive seen different Dr. and staff members and have always been treated with respect and kindness even when I have to say WHAT several times because I have a hearing loss. If you have a preblem these are the people to see.

Easy access to the parking structure from 6th Ave after leaving 163S. Easy access to the office from the elevator on P2. Very efficient.

Dr. Pelle is a very knowledgeable doctor and the staff is very kind. Dr. Pelle will take just enough time to see you, therefore have your questions ready and your moles marked. Do not expect a very mindful experience. Be prepared for her rush, rush, rush! :(

I highly recommend Dr. Michelle Pelle of MedDerm Dermatology. After several very unsatisfactory experiences in recent years with dermatologists in the Scripps system, I went looking for a dermatologist who was not part of a large healthcare system. I found Dr. Pelle online and liked what I read, so I made an appointment with her. She is very professional and thorough. She did a head to toe exam, the way dermatologists used to do and still should but dont. She found two areas that appeared to be cancerous or precancerous and took skin samples for biopsy. One was an area that a Scripps dermatologist had dismissed as nothing and the other was an area he never saw because he didnt do an exam. Dr. Pelle also removed mole-like growths which really bothered me a lot and which the Scripps doctor wouldnt remove because they werent cancerous. She also recommended an over-the-counter cream to treat scaly patches which I get on my very dry skin and which peel off, leaving dark, scar-like spots. Dr. Pelle and her assistant carefully documented everything and took pictures. She doesnt waste much time on small talk but is friendly and informal, and she takes as much time as is necessary to answer questions and concerns and she explains everything she is doing and what she sees. On the day of my appointment the office had apparently had what Dr. Pelle called a crazy day and they were running late. I had a long wait, for which she apologized (something few doctors do). I felt that she was well worth waiting for. I will definitely continue to see Dr. Pelle and will recommend her to my friends.

ABOUT ACCUTANE AND DR.BLAKE: I saw Dr. Jay Blake the Physicians Assistant. While he was a nice enough guy, there were so many problems with my visits to him. I was prescribed accutane and because of their lack of competency and organization I had to start my accutane late (30 days). which for an acne sufferer can feel like a year. THAT was not the main issue. The main issue is that he over-prescribed me with an extremely high dose of acctune (for my body weight). After doing a ton of research (which I admittedly should have done before trusting him) I found out the 60mg he put me on (Im 110 lbs) is wayyy to high of a dosage. I then had a TERRIBLE reaction which landed me in the ER with a $1600 ER bill. I had: dizziness, disorientation, confusion, lethargy, body aches, head aches and weird pressure in my head. He overdosed me and I ended up with a mild case of HYPERVITAMINOSIS A (which is what the ER dr. told me). I could have gone blind and had permanent damage. This is not to talk poorly about the practice in anger, this review is to hopefully help other patients not make the same mistake I did and blindly trust Dr. Blake. I really wish he would have taken me seriously when I first started reporting these symptoms. but instead he told me sounds like you just have some anxiety and increased my dosage....RED FLAG. this is both of our fault, I should have taken responsibility and listened to my body, but as a medical professional he should have NEVER increased my dosage after reporting my symptoms, but he did. PLEASE do your own re-search about accutane and accurate dosing before trusting MedDerm.

Expert staff, prompt service, results very effective for me. Dr.Pele very attentive to patients, a clinician Denise very thorough in treatment. I had the PDT treatment.

I have been seen by Dr. Pelle for several years. She is so knowledgeable and efficient that I cannot imagine going anywhere else. The office is busy, friendly and up-to-date. I would highly recommend this practice.

Misleading!!! Hiding real costs of procedure to then surprise You with extra bill!!!! Shame

Dr. Peele is beyond five stars...competent, focused, efficient, kind and caring. She is expert in diagnosis, great at remedying problems, and goes the extra mile.

Dr. Woodhall is the sweetest doctor! She was very attentive and addressed all of my concerns. I had a laser procedure performed to address some hyperpigmentation and the procedure was quick and seamless. I highly recommend this practice!

Having recently moved to SD from the D.C. area, I needed a dermatologist for an annual visit. Id noted that Dr. Pelle was highly recommended and therefore decided to see her. She was excellent -- very thorough, spending enough time with me (something my derm in D.C. did not do), explaining everything very clearly and making several helpful preventative medicine suggestions (again, something my derm in D.C. didnt do). I recommend Dr. Pelle wholeheartedly.
