Brandon is literally the BEST he was so awesome and caring, made everyone feel so comfortable. You could really tell that he knows what he’s doing and cares abt the design. I went with my friend and both of us got tattoos and he literally made the experience amazing I’m coming back tomorrow!! lol

Came for a walk in on Thursday, ended up getting tattooed by Diego and he was great. His work is wonderful, even though what I wanted wasn’t in his usual style he still took the time to give me a beautiful tattoo and he was very nice and light handed. If I’m ever back in the area I will definitely go back!Pricing was very fair for the quality of work I got, very happy with my new piece.

I’ve had two tattoos done here. One by Clint and one by Anna and I love them both. Both artists listened to what I wanted and what my vision was and helped me refine it. Both were really easy to work with and made me feel comfortable. Definitely returning for more!

Skott is the absolute man and a wizard with his tattoo skills. His experience pays off by working efficiently and maximizing his time during sessions. He has a great eye for incorporating black and white realism work and emphasizes the details through everything. I was a bit indecisive about what I wanted and changed my mind a few times and he bared with me and communicated with me throughout the entire process. He knew exactly what I wanted and we went for it. Being a huge Star Wars fan, I decided to get a traditional style Darth Vader tattoo on me and Paulie is a huge Vader fan as well so he was really passionate about every detail going into the tattoo.Ive received so many compliments thanks to him!I love everything about my new ink. The details are beautiful and the colors go so well together.P.S They definitely have a crowd, so its better to reach the artists by email through their site.

This place is amazing i got tattood by Paulie. He was very accomodating. He worked with me on the colors and how i wanted to make the design i wanted real. It even came out to a lower price than i was expecting Im definitely gonna come back soon. If you want a tattoo here is a very good place to go.

I went to see Hunter Knolmayer and his work is clean, fast, and extremely detailed! His hand is light and it is very clear that he know what he is doing with a tattoo gun. Very professional and easy to work with. All around my favorite artist i have worked with and I will be going back the next time i am in San Diego.

Anna was great! Her workspace was neat and clean, she had great artistic interpretations of my tattoo idea, and offered excellent tips on the cleaning and maintenance of my tattoo. Shout out to Derek as well for getting back to me quickly even though he couldnt fit me into his schedule.

First timer, I chose Funhouse Tattoo because of their high marks for having a professionally run business, experienced, talented artists, and high standards for cleanliness. I was not disappointed. Made the appointment on line, didn’t have to wait. The artist worked with me to get the design just right, was nice about making a few revisions and then the actual process took 9 minutes. ( a signature) Thanks Funhouse!!

The entire staff is absolutely professional, and are hands down the best artists Ive been to. This isnt the place to go get quick flash art done (you wont see any flash books around either).Theres a reason they have long wait lists and are always busy. Good tattoos arent cheap, and cheap tattoos arent good. Also.... If you want the best black work in CA, ask for Scott Kautman - you wont be disappointed.

I would 100% recommend this place to anyone wanting a tattoo!! The customer service is beyond spot on. My friend and I wanted to get tattoos but could only do it on a certain day, and Anna, our tattoo artist offered to come in on her day off!! She was so kind to do this for us. She was very insightful when it came to our tattoos. Not only was she helpful but she was hilarious as well, she made our day. She made us feel at ease and the tattoo process itself was very fast. 10/10 would recommend Anna!!

Artists are amazing people. The work is amazing, and the prices match the work. They’re not like other places that charge you a band for a small portion of your forearm that was unfinished and didn’t heal properly because the artist is heavy handed *cough* (SD Tattoo). Don’t go there go to Funhouse. Already got a full half sleeve that was under $1k and I love it. Definitely my permanent to go tattoo place for as long as I’m in San Diego.

My son and I went to get Matching Tattoos, we didn’t know much about this shop except the fact they’re open later than a lot of other shops. We ended up with Jason, and I’m extremely happy we did, my son and I went over what we wanted and he drew up a sketch, we loved it, decided yes let’s do it and set an appointment for the next day (only because my son forgot his passport) or he would’ve got us in the same day. Our tattoos came out amazing and Jason was awesome! Great dude, great conversation, doesn’t have a heavy hand, and his work was unbelievable. See pictures below, the tats are still wrapped so I’ll post more pics next week. So happy for the next piece I’m going to do, and it will definitely be Jason. Thanks again Jason you rock!

Currently, I have 11 tattoos and each and every single one of them I have gotten done at Funhouse Tattoo. I love the community of artists at Funhouse. From the atmosphere to the conversations to the actual art, I think this is one of the best tattoo shops in San Diego County. I’m so happy with each tattoo I find myself coming back at least once or twice a year to get a new piece of work done. If you haven’t gone to Funhouse yet, I highly recommend you start🖤

I was tattooed by Arty, it’s was honestly the best customer service and a very professional place. It was loaded back, clean, not too expensive or uncomfortable. I would honestly it was the best tattoo place I could’ve chosen, out of any random spot I chose this one. The artist are open to doing there best in creating the perfect tattoo and how you want it to be done. I loved the environment and the overall vibe.

Roger did such a beautiful, custom piece; I cried when it was done I was so happy. I can’t recommend his work more highly!

I want to start of by saying I actually loved this place for my previous work (done by Leo), but my most recent visit was pretty bad.I recommended a friend to this place because I wanted to show my appreciation. He walked in, met Anna and she was willing to take on the tattoo. Over back and forth texts with my friend, she pass the work to another artist named Brandon because she wouldnt have time.Brandon did great work on the first part of the chest tattoo but after this, continuously postponed on my friend for about two weeks. My friend even mentioned that he was aggressive through texts because he wanted small touch ups for being postponed constantly.I wont be going to Funhouse anymore. Too much postponing, and I wouldnt want my work done by someone who got aggressive with me over text. My friend will be finishing his chest work elsewhere.

Really enjoyed my experience at Funhouse! I was in California for the week for work. One night I stopped in to see if I could have an old family painting that my Great Grandfather painted of a Viking Ship done. It turned out great very accurate to original. Shout out to Alana for making it happen!

Ive had 4 tattoos done here. Awesome place. Paulie has been there for me with me honoring my 3 family members who have passed. Will be heading back again to honor my most recent loss. Great work & a comfortable environment for sure. Any artist there will be awesome to work on me.

Yesterday I decided to get my first tattoo ever, and somehow I was lucky enough to get Stephen. Since this was my first time walking into a tattoo shop, I really didnt know what to expect. I came in with a rough (to say the least) outline of what I wanted and Stephen took it and turned it into an amazing piece of art. He talked me through everything and it was easy to tell that he really cared about what he was doing. He is a genuinely good person, obviously proud of his work (but also extremely humble), and amazingly talented at what he does. I highly recommend him, and despite his profile not being on Funhouses website, he is obviously leaving an impression on everyone else he has tattooed. Request an appointment with him, you wont regret it.

Funhouse Tattoo has a fun and welcoming environment, I have visited twice and encountered two different artists who were both proffessional, clean, and easy to talk to. The prices vary based on artist but are very reasonable. I am 19 and this shop was my first tattoo expirience, yet I never felt intimidated! I have reccomended this shop to many people and would continue to do so especially for people like me new to this world.

My daughter and I got matching rib tattoos as she went off to college at SDSU. It was the first tattoo for both of us, Me 50 and my daughter 18, so we were both a bit nervous, especially hearing from everyone that rib tattoos are super painful. We used Brandon at Funhouse and he was GREAT! We both felt super comfortable with him, he copied the example we brough in perfectly, of a fine line daisy chain. The lines are perfectly steady, straight, and crisp etc. Zero complaints, great work, clean shop, and Brandon was super nice. I can defiantly recommend Brandon with a five star rating. I received two tattoos from my artist Ei and was very happy with my results! I had him draw out something from scratch using only a few reference photos and he did amazing. I would highly recommend funhouse, they made my first tattoo experiences awesome.

I came in with an under developed idea and the first person I talked to was Anna Brown. After a few days of back and forth she drew out my idea and I loved it. Walked in with my daughter and a friend of hers that wanted to get tattoos, and I ended up in the chair. Nothing big on this trip but the care to match the type of writing I was redoing. My wife and i came in for couples tattoos for her birthday. I’ve gone here for my tattoos since I moved here for college. It’s easy to schedule and the artists are nice and make you feel very comfortable. On top of all of that, it’s reasonably priced. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Visited for a Friday the 13th flash deal, the flash sheets showcased excellent talent from all of the artists and the quality of the tattoos themselves was amazing! Healed quickly, no issues or empty spots in the lines, and excellent customer service!

I got a tattoo here about a year or two ago and I feel so bad that i dont remember the guy who tattooed me but he was very nice. Especially because i think I was a walk in. I got a fine lined lotus flower on my back and he was very patient with all my twitching. The tattoo is also holding up very well. Now that Im back in the area Ill definitely be going back!

Got my first tattoo from Paulie, from 2 months ago when i did my consultation, to 2 days ago when i actually got the tattoo, his communication was excellent. Overall good experience. Went with a friend and we were both charged $120 (for a tattoo apprentice) before tip each, for a 2 inch tattoo. We got the tattoos on April 25th 2023 and today is June 13th 2023. The tattoo is half gone. Super disappointed because they were super cute. I understand it rubs off but not in the span of two months.

Slaine was super awesome and helped me tweak a design I drew myself. Was super open to what I wanted to do and added in a few cool details that I didnt think to add (with my permission of course). Great place and cool people!

Got a thigh tattoo from Derek, the shops current apprentice, and it turned out amazing! Mine was his first tattoo hes ever done on a client, but it looked like hed been tattooing for decades. Fernando tattooed both my boyfriend and I and his hands are amazingly steady and incredible with fine lines and shading. He is also such a fun guy and makes sure you are 100% comfortable. These were our first tattoos but I would love to go back and get tattooed again by him!

I work with Gabe for my tattoos and he does not disappoint. My first tattoo with him he did freehand and it was better than the ideas I brought to him. Hes clean, fast, and incredibly talented. This place is affordable and I havent seen a bad piece walk out of that shop. The owner is super knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. I have 9 tattoos and counting and this will be where I get the rest.

This is by far the best tattoo shop in the PB/San Diego area. I have had the honor to have Mr. Roger Solis as my tattoo artist. To date I have been going to him for almost a year now, and I have gotten two full size inside forearm tattoos by him and I have a few more to go and I get compliments on them daily. Ladies, if you want someone that is charismatic with a gentle touch (cute too), Roger is the man. Professional, courteous…there are not enough words to describe him. The shop itself is in a cool location. Parking is best on the side streets. Very clean with cool art and art pieces on the wall. I have not had the pleasure of getting any work done by any of the other artists but they seem really cool. I have seen some of their work they have done on their clients and it is pretty awesome. This is a hidden gem. If you havent checked them out, you will be missing out.

Hands down my favorite tattoo shop in San Diego. I drove 40 minutes to go to them and it was totally worth it! I called in asking if I needed an appointment and although I did, they still took me and my friend. My tattoo artist was an apprentice and you would honestly never know! I forgot his name sadly, but he was the coolest dude! He did such a good job and even dealt with me yelling about the pain! Ha I love this place and would recommend anyone and everyone!!

I have a tattoo that was done on the east coast about 5 years ago. The feather on it was dull, washed-out, and needed help. Paulie did an outstanding job of bringing my tattoo back to life. With amazing use of color, transitions, and technique he made my tattoo look better than I ever thought it would. Not only that, his professionalism, attentiveness, passion for perfection, and welcoming nature made me feel comfortable and confident with his work. Next time I visit Cali, Im definitely returning for another tattoo.

I was very impressed by the level of professionalism that shop has. Roger did an amazing job on my small but meaningful tattoo. Alec Bauer was my artist today, having yesterday been my 18th birthday and not knowing much about tattoos, my family (sister, dad, and mother) all went in to get tattoos after being recommended by my brother in law. The shop was very clean and all of the artists were very hospitable especially Alec. I found this shop through yelp. I wanted to get started on a gorgeous piece and I needed to find someone who fit my style and I came across a master of tattoos...So, I just got a tattoo yesterday by Alec and I must say that he was amazing. I started on a very painful tattoo: an octopus on my sternum and rib area. Alec had a plethora of information to make my next session go more smoothly including where to buy and how to apply numbing cream. He was patient with me. As I mentioned before, this was a really painful tattoo but definitely not my first. He put up with me and encouraged me to continue on, although, Im no quitter so I wouldnt have anyway! ;)Alec drew up the tattoo and we communicated via email beforehand. Initially, I wanted something more centered but Alecs instincts were far more superior. Its going to come out looking realistic and so detailed, I can already tell.Now, this isnt a cheap tattoo shop. Youre going to pay for any of the artists artwork and their time. I think the pricing is reasonable especially when you take into account how long theyve been tattooing and the quality of their work.I cant say thank you enough, Alec, for this gorgeous piece thats going to come out so much better than I would have ever anticipated.Next is black and gray shading then my final session will be color!

Paulie is awesome! Took in a group of 3 as walk-ins for piercings and walked us through the entire process (including answering questions about tattoos as we were considering getting those as well). The piercing itself did not hurt at all and he was super patient in explaining the cleaning/maintenance.

I came to San Diego on vacation and was planning on getting a tattoo with my mom and sister. Janice was great! She stayed late to finish our tattoos and they look awesome! I would highly recommend going to see her! She was super nice and helpful!! The only bad thing is that she is so far away from my home! :-)

I went in around 7pm and Otto was working with a client. About two hours later he finished and stayed for another two hours, past closing time, just to draw up a revised sketch of my tattoo idea. The next day I went in at 2pm and he had already been there for an hour before opening just to finish up my drawing. We ended up doing the tattoo and it came out beautiful. Otto is definitely the guy to go to. He cares and is really in the zone when he works. Wouldnt want anybody else doing my tattoo in San Diego.

I needed some old work covered up and talked to several artists around town. My search was over after talking with Alec Bauer. He new exactly what I wanted after a brief description. He took those few details and ran with them. I was impressed with his preliminary sketch and absolutely happy when he finished the cover up. It looks great and I cant wait for him to do some other work I want done. He is very talented, a true professional, and personable. Great place!

I would definitely recommend this tattoo shop! They are super professional but also have an awesome atmosphere and they all do really great work. I had a very detailed elbow/forearm piece done by Scott. I told him an idea of what I wanted as an extension of a previous tattoo that I had and he did a great job blending the old and the new piece together. I am very grateful to have found this place. My artist is highly skilled, professional, and works more quickly than the other artists I was given quotes and timelines from; making his work well worth the price. He considered every aspect while putting together the design and made sure nothing would be out of place before beginning his work. I originally went in there with a more basic design in mind and he took it and suggested an even more awesome piece that fit perfectly together, without going over the price limit on hours that I was able to afford. I wasn’t expecting to find someone who could actually do that detailed of a design but agreed for him to go for it.... and I couldn’t be happier with the result. For highly detailed, clean, great quality work, look for Skott. Especially if you have a gray and black realistic type piece in mind.

I had a previous Haida killer whale shoulder piece I got about a year ago, and I really felt like it was lacking and not complete. Seths work turned out great - he was able to work with what I already had, what I wanted, and tattoo regulations that I am under for the military! Couldnt be happier. He is an expert on Polynesian/Haida-type art and knew the best ways to make certain areas of the art pop, he even used the older ink as contrast which was amazing. All in all a great experience. All of the artists are super knowledgeable and friendly, so definitely give Funhouse a try!

He pulled off a near impossible piece of photo realism with a level of detail that is just incredible. Not only did I walk away with an outstanding piece of artwork, I also got some great conversation and some good laughs. Great experience all around with a bulletproof tattoo at the end.

Its a peacock with amazing detail, vibe-rent colors,the line work is perfect , the shading as well. My tattoo is almost finished only one more session left . So far a total of 10 hours . There are hundreds of tattoo shops in San Diego. Anyone can get a bad tattoo. Seth Reynolds at Funhouse Tattoo in PB does not let that happen. From the day I first walked in with ideas in my head to the minute I finished my final touch ups, Seth took care of me all the way. He is a perfectionist and will not put his name on a bad tattoo. He will also not let you walk away unsatisfied. I got a 6 hour back piece that hurt like a mother. Seth was really flexible with his schedule and accommodated me in every way I asked. He is as talented as they come. I will most definitely continue to come to Funhouse for future ink! Thanks Seth!

My first experience here, when I went to get a piercing done, was okay. But Paulie was such a jerk the next time I went there to get my nose ring out. Its a latched nose ring that I got from India and maybe he hasnt seen the kind before but instead of trying to open the latch, he just started tugging at it, causing me more pain (and later on worse bleeding) than when I actually got pierced. And when he couldnt get it out, he was just really rude and mean to me, saying he doesnt have time for this and implying that as if it was my fault to feel so much pain and not let him continue with his crude method which obviously wasnt working. Although he asked me to wait so he could attend to his other customers first, which I can understand, the manner in which he spoke was really unprofessional. Wouldnt recommend him at all!

Went to a Friday the 13th flash sale. Got there at 6:30pm. Waited 8 hours in line jist to be told that the last tattoo would be at 2am. We were next up to the door and were turned away. I get it, the artists were working Hella hard and Hella long hours, but the 2am information would have been great to know if it was posted on their door or announced earlier so we didnt have to waste that much time. Im sure the tattoo would have been great, but we didnt get to find out.

They only accept walk-ins if it is a really simple design.

Ive had several sessions with Paulie at funhouse now. Every time ive been there i have felt very comfortable with everything that was going on. Everybody that works in the shop is super cool and always make me feel welcome, every time i go in. Paulie is doing a sleeve for me now and its turning out more and more amazing every time i get more done.

The East Coast is far more selective when it comes to tattoo shops, so it can be difficult to find a good spot in San Diego with the seemingly endless supply. This is THE spot.
