I had a tattoo on my arm and wanted it converted into a full sleeve. Salome was amazing helping me figure out what I wanted. I have absolutely no artistic ability and let Salome create it and she did an amazing job! I absolutely love my tattoo and get compliments all the time on it. Will go back to her again when I am ready for my next tattoo!

I first came to the shop with husband to get a custom tattoo, which is amazing, from Morgan. The atmosphere was amazing, the shop clean, and the people friendly. Nat was at the front desk and she was so welcoming and helpful. We found out about the flash day on may the 4th, so we came back, and i got an awesome R2D2 peice with Lu.

Kris did such a beautiful job on my tattoo. She is down to earth, friendly and real. Absolutely loved the shop. Everyone was so friendly. Brianna at the front desk ran and got the team coffee and even picked some up for me. Super sweet. 5 stars all around. 🧡

Where to begin...I had some ex-wife sponsored ink and an old tribal wrist wrap from 20 years ago that needed to be covered. As the old ink was well conceived, but not well executed, I searched for months to find the guy.I contacted three people who had spectacular black/gray portfolios and only two contacted me back. Hernan Coretta, and a guy from Colorado. The guy from Colorado pinged me while I was on the way to sit with Hernan.I put a lot of trust into Hernan, as the requirement for two coverups was artist discretion. I was born in 76 (year of the dragon) and my only request was a traditional Japanese style dragon to round out the half sleeve I already had of a Samurai, which covered yet another horrible tattoo from my youth on my shoulder.When I arrived, I was impressed with the shop as a whole. It was immaculate and I was instantly comfortable. The staff is intensely methodical about sanitation and sterilization. The pride and seriousness everyone took in their work, from the artists, to the apprentices was immediately apparent and welcoming.The shop is in a super convenient location in Little Italy (State & Laurel), 3 blocks East of Pacific, making it within walking distance from no less than 3 dozen restaurants, bars, coffee houses, and three Hotels.I sat for 10 hours in 2 days. 7 hours the first, and 3 the next. The staff was super friendly and offered to grab me food on day 1 to which I gladly accepted. Im not sure where they went, but that Reuben was freaking amazing.Hernan is a master of his craft. His 30 years in the Ukiyo-e style is more than apparent and testament to his dedication to the art. His ability to create beautiful works from blank canvas is second to none. The walls of his work space are adorned with his watercolor paintings of dragons and past designs - some measuring 4-6 feet long. Its quite amazing. At the end of the session, Hernan gifted me a personalized signed hardcover book of his 30 years of work, which was unexpected, unreal and beautifully done.I cant say enough about this extraordinary experience so Im writing this small novel of a review to simply say thank you. I returned home with a sleeve from an titan in the industry and a cocktail table book that will forever be a conversation starter.If youre on the fence. Get down and get booked. This is the spot. All the artists in this studio in either location are the cream of the crop. You wont be disappointed.

Guru Tattoo is one of the cleanest and most professional tattoo studios in San Diego. The staff is very nice and accommodating for all of their clients. Everyone seems to love their job there. The tattoo artists are professional and have amazing work. Aaron Delavedova is one of the worlds best tattoo artists and it shows in his shop. I highly recommend getting tattooed here. They also have laser removal as a service as well.

Went to Guru for my very first tattoo. The place overall is very welcoming and everyone makes you feel at ease. From the front desk to all the other artist working on other clients. They have great senses of humor and made the experience memorable.

I had the pleasure of spending 55+ hours with Hernan Coretta as he worked on a full Japanese style back piece over the course of 2023. I had 4 existing tattoos that I wanted to cover up and when I saw Hernans work and experience doing large scale pieces and body suits, I reached out for a consultation. From the first time I met him I felt comfortable, safe, and heard. As a plus-size woman I was nervous about undressing in a tattoo shop environment and how the cover-ups and my body would work for a large-scale piece. From day 1 and every session after he put privacy screens up around his workspace so that I was comfortable. He also checked with me anytime anyone needed to talk to him or enter his workspace out of respect for my privacy. For the actual tattoo, he free hand drew on me to create a piece that flowed well with my body. While I gave him artistic freedom, he explained his artistic choices and why he needed to do certain things whether that be to achieve a successful cover-up or to flow with my body.Hernan is an amazing artist and his experience with large scale pieces that take many months, or even years, to complete is apparent. After our first consultation and agreement on the size of my tattoo, he asked me if I wanted to come every 2 weeks or every month. It worked best for me to come once a month so he sent me a full list of date options from Jan 2023-October 2023 so we could have enough appointments set and scheduled to finish. His estimate was spot on as it took us 10 sessions at 5-6 hours per session to finish!I am so happy I found Hernan and for the beautiful work I will have now forever! Im now searching for lots and lots of backless shirts and dresses to show off my back :)I also want to shoutout the amazing and friendly front-desk staff and other artists at Guru Tattoo I got to know while there. Deft actually gave my brother his first tattoo and Salome was always so nice. The shop itself was always clean with a welcoming atmosphere and good music.Three pictures: one of the existing back tattoos I had to cover-up, one right after the consultation and Hernans freehand sketch, and the final piece! I got a tattoo by Hernan Coretta and couldn’t be happier with the way it came out!! Hernan covered 4 medium sized tattoos on my ankle, shin, knee, and low thigh. Hernan coretta is easily one of the best irezumi artists in California now that he is located in the San Diego area.He is a master in the type of tattooing he does with decades of experience. If you are on the edge about getting a piece from him, just take a look at his art on his Instagram, true master of irezumi.I am beyond happy with my sleeve and the rest of the staff at guru was friendly. Having completed a full body suit tattoo with shop owner, Aaron Della Vedova, it is hard to put in one review all the positive feedback I would like to give to Guru Tattoo. This review makes an attempt but really you just have to go into one of the shops (Pacific Beach or Little Italy) and the love of art, professionalism, and all around good vibes speak for themselves.Tattoo - getting a large format tattoo at Guru has been a life changing event. I love the results and it is a true collaboration of ideas/concepts I had and Aaron’s artistic ability. Aaron’s style was just what I wanted but the beauty of guru tattoo is it is full of artists with diverse abilities and expertise so a great opportunity to get the tattoo you really want.Shop - both shops are immaculate when it comes to cleanliness and focus on hygiene- clearly a priority. Beyond that though the shops have an art gallery feel that makes the experience even more enjoyable.Extras - Guru tattoo staff has a love for the art of tattooing. This is evident with the regular art shows they put on and Aaron’s own Chats and Tatts podcast filmed at the shop.

4 sessions so far with Hernan, he custom drew the design and has been an incredible artist to work with. Would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for larger scale projects/sleeves

I got a tattoo from Morgan who is currently an apprentice and it came out absolutely amazing, by far the best quality tattoo I’ve received/ seen from any apprentice! Already planned my next tattoo with her and am freaking stoked! 🤙Rachelle was working the front and was very quick to get me all checked in and was very helpful throughout the entire tattoo, even offered me and my friend drinks and snacks. Overall an amazing experience and all the other artists were also very friendly!

I had a fantastic experience at Guru with artist Ryn Sharp. She got me in for a miracle Saturday birthday appointment. I got a 4 hour black and gray sternum piece done based off her flash design I inquired about on Instagram. We corresponded over email, and she added some gorgeous ornamental and floral elements at my request to help the piece fit the placement so beautifully! She really took her time placing the stencil, and rendering the design. Ryn was very understanding when I needed some quick bathroom/snack breaks/position adjustments, we enjoyed some casual on/off conversation and she made me feel comfortable the whole time. The other artists/employees I met at the studio were friendly too!The shop has calm and inspiring vibes. I was promptly greeted upon entering, and signed/read all paperwork on their tablet. My appointment chair was comfy, and they gave me a pillow to use on it, the temperature was warm enough I didnt get cold, and they played great music like 80s, alternative rock, and metal so I didnt bother wearing my headphones. The studio was clean and filled with natural light, I was able to find parking on the street easily and locate the studio from the street. An ATM can be found inside, but I was able to pay for everything with my card which I found to be very convenient.

I just left the studio to get a tattoo with Lauryn, and I can only say that it was an EXCELLENT JOB, I sent her my ideas and she perfectly captured what I wanted, she explains very well the tattoo care and the process and above all she is very kind and nice person. All the people in the place are very friendly, the atmosphere is great. 100% recommended!!!Go get a tattoo right now!!!!!

I was recommended by a good friend to visit Hernan at Guru...I gave him my ideas to hopefully cover up two horrible pieces from years past and give me something worth loving. Hands down the man killed it..from his vast knowledge of the Asian arts to his professionalism behind the work...I have nothing but great respect for what he accomplished.

I have wanted my ugly wrist tattoo covered up for years, but it was a challenge to find a good fit for my expectations. The first thing that struck me about Shane is how professional he is. He took the time to talk to me about my tattoo because it was going to be a cover-up on my wrist. He requested I send pictures, so he had a better idea & then he scheduled a consultation with me. He explained everything in detail. Which I greatly appreciated. I gave him ideas of what I wanted as a tattoo and left everything else in his artistic hands. I spent hours in the chair as Shane tattooed my forearm. He was a very accommodating host, assuring I was comfortable and if I needed a break or snack (which they provide if you forget to bring your own). My tattoo turned out beyond anything I imagined. From the details of the petals to the leaves to the beautiful color blending he did. Wow. Thanks, Shane!!! My tattoo is so beautiful & unique. I had a bad run in with one of the tattoo artists here but Nathaniel saved the day! I am 100% in love with his work. He was very knowledgeable, consistent, reliable and transparent. I am constantly getting compliments on this Valkyrie piece (many thanks Nathaniel!).***The staff was nice & welcoming. The shop had a great atmosphere that was very clean & organized.

I got a tattoo here about 2-3 years ago, I made a down payment sent in a reference picture and the artist said he could do it. Got there and he had a sketch made completely different from what I wanted. I asked to make it more like the picture I sent he said ok came back and all he changed was the size. I ended up agreeing to getting because I felt pressured and had already paid 150. Worse experience ever wouldn’t recommend women or first timers going here. I paid 400 for something I don’t like or wanted.

I went there for a flash tattoo. It was super fun! I wouldve liked to see more designs but it was still very fun and Ill probably head back there eventually!

I finished my second session with Tolga, and I’m so in awe of my finished tattoo. It could not have come out any better!! Everyone in the shop is so helpful, and the shop itself is beautiful.

My artist, Charlie C., did impeccable work and was able to pull together my ideas into his unique style. The shop was always clean and everyone was friendly.Guru has one of the best reputations for dedicated, talented, and creative artists. Make sure you can wait for the work awhile if you pick an artist that is especially busy, I went in for consultation in November 2016 and got my first session May 2017. It was well worth it!

I travelled to San Diego from Seattle to get a tattoo by Fibs at end of October. I can’t say enough about how nicely set up and clean the shop is and how friendly everyone was. Fibs went above and beyond to make sure my neck tattoo was incredible. I am thrilled with how it turned out. Thanks for the hospitality guys, see ya again soon!

I have had multiple tattoos done and had, by far, the best experience at Guru! Brendon did my tattoo and was awesome! The people are super hospitable and make you feel extremely comfortable. I live in Orange County but will definitely drive down to San Diego for my next tattoo.

Simply wanted to set a date, any date to get a tattoo done. I dmd the artist Andrew on his Instagram and when i asked about a possible date i was left on read. I double texted again and after was told that specific day was not open. I replied asking what date he would be able to do it and was again left on read. was ready to throw a deposit in or whatever he needed. Guess they dont want money.

Tattoo incomplete keep trying to get it done but tattoo artist keeps making excuses and promises to call me or txt me back to set the appointment, not worth it. Did not pay that much money to get an incomplete piece. Wanted to get a new piece but much rather taket somewhere alse.

Brendan was my artist there, he did the most precise job on my heart tattoo! Ocean vibes and surfer atmosphere going on! Definitely recommend this place to anyone in the San Diego area. Really nice people as well.

I recently commissioned a custom tattoo from Lorenzo Gomez and had an amazing visit. It was my 3rd from him and whether its his own flash, taken from a reference, or something he has to pry from your imagination , dude is on point. Drawing in any style, he is super attentive to your needs as a client, patient while you make tweaks, guides you around things that wouldnt look good without being pretentious, and has hands that seem to just draw the design on. I also severe social anxiety, but both he and the shop gave me a sense of space and ease without any pressure. The shop was clean af and had character as well. I wouldnt just recommend this place, Im pretty sure its the only place to go.

My wife and I were visiting from Canada and were looking to get new tattoos. We had very limited time, but Dan helped us out. Within 3 days, he created a design and had us inked. Amazing talent! Thanks, Dan! We love our new tattoos!

Guru Tattoo in Little Italy is THE spot for high quality tattoos in San Diego. The shop is incredibly clean and professional looking, the artists and staff are extremely friendly. I got a Hannya Mask from Ugo Villegas (ig: @el_ugo) and im absolutely stoked with the way it came out. Alright first off. There are a SLEW of shops to choose from in San Diego. Ive been tattooed at at least a handful of them and Guru is truly unmatched! Yesterday was my second time getting work done at Guru. Both pieces have been done by one of the shops newer artists, Handsm Sweets! Hes a Boston Boy gone west coast and his artistic and tattoo abilities are phenomenal! Not only is his work amazing, but hes also very approachable, honest about feedback regarding tattoo ideas and will always try to help the client make the best decision for the life and longevity of their new tattoo! I havent had the chance to be tattooed by other artists at Guru, however Ive been so pleased with my experiences thus far that Guru is now my tattoo home :) Everyone Ive met at Guru has been friendly, welcoming and just enjoyable to be around! If youre new to the area of in search of a new shop or a great artist, checking out the GURU Family is a MUST! From traditional to neo, full Japanese body suits, black and gray, you name it- This tattoo family does it all! I let her know I was saving up for a big session with Aaron Della Vedova and she gave me pointer and tips on how to pursue with a tattoo and the proper methods of contacting and informing what I wanted.. Shop is cozy stylish and quaint. I was there for a visiting artist from Chicago. I would recommend and look forward to revisiting and hopefully using one of the resident artist.
