Slave to the Needle Tattoo & Body Piercing

Loved their professionalism and attention to detail. This is my first tattoo, Daniel held my hand and took extra great care with me! I had no idea what to expect or how much Id love it. He walked me through the entire process with ease.

I want to say I had a positive experience at Slave to the Needle, but unfortunately I can’t. I met with Daniel about a half sleeve project a couple of times, and unfortunately our meetings didn’t go as I thought they would. I think that Daniel is an incredible artist, don’t get me wrong- I admire his work and I truly believe he is talented at what he does. However, when I met with him, he did not seem very interested in me or the project. There weren’t many pleasantries. I was excited to meet him and build a good relationship with him as my future artist, but he wasn’t as kind or welcoming as I thought he would be. He seemed kind of stand offish and distant, and he didn’t smile much.As for the art he made for me, I did like it very much. One thing that I found odd, however, was that he presented me a sketch on paper, not any sort of digital render so that I could clearly see what was to be put on my body forever. I just had to trust him that I would like how the sketch would look finalized on me. I didn’t even get to look at the sketch for that long either, only a couple of minutes. I felt like that wasn’t reasonable seeing as though like I said, it would be on my body for the rest of my life. I know that some tattoo artists aren’t comfortable with their clients taking photos of their work, and I completely understand that. I did want to ask Daniel if I could take a photo in the off chance he was okay with it, and he was not. That’s okay, but the way in which he told me didn’t seem very professional to me. When I asked him, he told me “oh no, this is MINE until you pay me”. I think this was the thing that really made me decide not to go forward with our project. He’s a great artist, but the environment felt a little hostile and we just didn’t vibe. I wish things could have gone better, but it was for the better that I didn’t work with him. Another note is that I’m pretty sure I heard him talking bad about another one of his clients (?) with someone working at the front desk, ridiculing the individual in question for wanting to get a project that was too small (?). It seemed very unprofessional, especially because I could hear it while I was waiting for a consult with him.As for the staff, that’s where I do have to give credit. They were always very kind and professional, responding in a timely manner, and were very welcoming. All in all, I wish things could have gone better so that I could’ve gotten the tattoo, but ultimately I did not feel comfortable giving the shop my business.

Such a good experience with Chris yesterday! The previous appointment was running over so I ended up waiting a bit, but Chris was very intentional and didn’t rush. He took his time to chat and make me feel comfortable and relaxed- he’s also super funny and has some great stories. I got my septum done and he was great about setting expectations about the piercing and healing process. The piercing itself was virtually pain free. I’ve been to several different piercers over the years, but this was by far the best experience I’ve had. I’d definitely return for all my future piercing needs and would highly recommend Chris to anyone looking for a piercing.

Danny Chan was awesome. The front desk gal was so helpful, kind, communicative. I was only visiting Seattle for one day and was able to fit me in with Danny, on short notice. Their location was clean and professional: very cool people, very good energy.

Tako is the MAN! Ten years ago, a very special woman in my life gave me a birthday card featuring this fish. I kept it, feeling it was a perfect self-portrait 😂. Because of how much the card meant to me, I waited and waited to find someone who could do it justice. Little did I know, I was waiting for TAKO!Tako redefined professionalism. From our first consultation, he was attentive and genuinely interested in understanding the significance of the piece. His meticulous attention to detail and dedication to capturing the essence of the original card were truly remarkable. He communicated clearly throughout the process, ensuring that I was informed and satisfied at every stage. His work ethic, combined with his artistic talent, set a new standard for the kind of service I expect from an artist. I had my ear stretched at Slave to the Needle. Im very happy with the procedure and results. The charge was very and the staff helpful and pleasant. They also have a large assortment of jewelry. I will definitely be returning.

Had a great experience getting my nostril pierced by Josh. I was very nervous and he made me feel at ease by explaining everything to me and completing the piercing quickly and smoothly. Its been 3 days and my piercing seems to be healing so quickly with absolutely no issues so far.

I came here to get my double lobes pierced. Even though I gave approval on the placement somehow they were not evenly pierced. I took one out so I could get it repierced later. This morning the piercing I kept in was really painful and turns out a layer of skin formed over the backing. When I got pierced I asked my piercer if the jewelry was too small and if my skin will try to heal over it. The piercer said I had no worries. Now I have to spend MORE money to get pierced again and get new jewelry for it. Thank you so much!

They had an absolutely beautiful collection of jewelry options, and Josh was very friendly and professional. He even installed my new jewelry, too.I had to make an appointment to just buy jewelry and not get anything pierced, which was the only odd thing to me.Thanks Josh :)

Please do not get a piercing here. Ill keep it short. Basically my piercer 1. didnt change his gloves when leaving the room , re-entering and giving me my piercing (I should have absolutely said something) 2. he put the wrong size jewelry in the system so I had to go there to figure it out and get an extra ball 3. They wouldnt let me try the jewelry in the store and when I tried putting it in, the threading was stripped so I had to go back to the store a third time. He also put them in crooked and the one he did by hand (with the dirty glove got infected). I asked him to use a piercing gun on the second and that one i still have and is fine. Was not worth it one bit.

I came here to re-pierce one of my ears and I had the best experience with Adam. I don’t like needle and he made the process as painless as possible. It was a calm and easy experience. He took time to measure and get the earring color to match my other earring on the other ear. Even after he pierced my ear and I have questions, he took the time to explain each solution he used on my ear to get it ready to pierce. It was awesome experience and I am really glad I came. Adam was able to help me with the process and gave me instruction to care for my pierced earring (standard soap and water and no need for extra expensive cleaning solutions). Everything looks clean and it was a great experience. I don’t like needle or else I would definitely come back for tattoos or more piercings. I would recommend coming here for piercing just because attention and care to details. Adam was also able to get me in instead of waiting till 8 pm (I walk in at around 4 pm) because he was done with another client earlier than anticipated. Thank you for saving me time!

Wonderful tattoo and piercing parlor! Kali did a fantastic job of making the process, quick, easy, and enjoyable! The selection of jewelry options (both for starter jewelry while healing and for healed piercings) is fantastic and they have some really beautiful pieces in an enormous range of sizes, styles, and materials. I was able to get a piercing appointment within just a few days of when I initially called and was greeted on time and led through the entire process with multiple opportunities to ask questions.Please consider Slave to the Needle for your next body mod!

I had my daith pierced here and had the smoothest experience! Josh was my piercer and was super kind, listened to all my questions and gave a lot of good advice. Josh also kept totally cool when I got super nervous right before the pierce LOL but it was fast and easy, and the piercing looks literally perfect. I highly recommend this shop for piercings!

Slave to the Needle is a clean and professional establishment. Daniel #bloodminer is my tattoo artist. I highly recommend Daniel and this shop. His honest and clear approach to his art refreshing. He has taken my ideas and guided me through the entire sleeve process. He is a master of his craft and myself and my family couldnt imagine being tattooed by anyone else.

BEWARE. Asked me to leave the store after Chris the jerk was telling me I told you so, it was an 18 gauge, this is why we want to pierce it ourselves when customers dont know any better when in reality, after calling my old piercer, it was actually a 20. Almost insisted on selling me a wrong fit for my piercing. When I complained about the attitude, they tried to pin it on me and kick me out the store because I had said beforehand that I have never been to a tattoo shop where you needed an appointment to purchase a piercing. I have never in my life been asked to leave a business, and this is by far the absolute worst customer service I have ever received. Will never be back and will tell all of my friends to avoid at all costs.

In these pandemic times, its important to support what you want to be around later. S.T.T.N. has been a staple and has such amazing people for tattoo and piercings. Theyre selection is affordable and awesome, they do everything they can to accommodate special needs. And their facility is immaculate. Set up an appointment and stop by to support them. This is where you go for your first tattoo when you Google “tattoo shops in Seattle”. The couple tattoos I’ve gotten from this place, in retrospect, are some of the ones I’m least happiest with. Do your research and find a non-milquetoast artist that has a unique style, which are not to be found here.

Second Review:Got periced by Josh today and he was so nice and gentle about my potential to pass out this is definitely my go to piercing place. (Got my Daith pierced) 1/2024I got a very spur of the moment nostril piercing from Chris and it was great! Very calm environment you could tell he has amazing skill because he went through the inside of my nose to go through the thinner part of my cartilage. Super knowledgeable and kind! Will definitely be back! 4/2023

Josh at the Ballard location is wonderful. He was so knowledgeable and helpful and extremely patient. I usually get nervous before a piercing but he put me at ease effortlessly and it quite literally didn’t hurt at all. He also identified why I was having problems with the nose piercing I had done at another shop and corrected the issue immediately. I will be back to see him any time I need a piercing and will recommend him to all my friends! Thank you, Josh!

The storefront is classic and has so much to look at. The selection of jewelry was broad, though I expected there to be more options for my specific piercing once its healed. I had an advance appointment with my friend and the experience was quick (but not rushed), professional, and my piercer Kali was super patient and knowledgeable and did prompt follow up when I had questions.

I had a great experience getting a nostril piercing with Chris! I was pretty nervous (first piercing beyond my earlobes), but he put me at ease and was very kind. The front desk was very welcoming, as well! I left satisfied and impressed.

I couldnt be happier with my experience here. I have had multiple tattoos by different artists here and couldnt be more pleased. Everything from scheduling, to consultation, talent, execution,customer service, to payment was easy. There is a reasonable books are blocked for 6 months out. If you are looking for somewhere to go and find quality artists at the top of the craft, This is your spot.

The shop was super clean and professional, they also had a private room for piercings! I had a septum piercing booked with Josh and unfortunately due to my anatomy, my septum couldnt be done. Josh communicated his concerns and recommended not getting it. He was super apologetic and offered a different piercing instead. He was also very understanding when I wasnt sure of what other piercing I would have wanted and decided to opt out for now. Thanks guys! I appreciate the experience none the less.

My son just got some snakebites. Joshua, the piercer, was fantastic. His delivery of pertinent information and further explanation was on point. Very professional and personable. Honestly, everyone I interacted with at the shop was professional and personable... if youre in the Ballard area and feel the need to be poked in one way or another, you should stop in and check them out. Id add some pics but my son asked me to not put them on the internet.

Have gotten 3 piercings here now and each time has been a great experience. I believe Josh was the one who did them all, Hes amazing at what he does.

Bruce was absolutely a pleasure to work with! He was kind and patient when it came to sizing my tattoo. He had to print the drawing off multiple times. He made me feel comfortable and my tattoo came out amazing. I would highly recommend Bruce. Thanks Bruce!

I made an appt for my husbands birthday to get a tattoo of our dog’s ears. My husband at been tattoo’d by someone else here before and had a great experience, and booking the slot and submitting example photos was easy. This bad review is not about the shop, but about the specific artist.Went in, met with Danny, saw the stencil. You could tell it was just a digital outline of the photo of our dog we submitted, totally fine, but we described what he didn’t want on it, said we just wanted an outline of the ears in the photo (not the nose) and some shading around the edges to give it some dimension so it wasn’t just a line. Danny gave the impression that he got it, went to town on my husbands arm, and he butchered the hell out of it. We didn’t want to make a scene but he was almost in tears with how bad it looked and we couldn’t wait to get out of there. There is just black blob on his arm, nothing like the examples we sent, nothing like we described. Danny just did what he wanted. This guy shouldn’t have a job. DO NOT GO TO DANNY. It’s been one day and we’re already looking at getting it removed, and will have to spend hundreds more to do so.

Popped in for a quick nostril jewelry insertion on Halloween as I had popped my jewelry off the night before. I made my appt online via their website super easily.Everyone was so nice and I felt super comfortable in the space, unlike some tattoo and piercing shops where you feel like you are just bugging the people who work there.I highly recommend giving this shop a visit if you are looking for tattoos or piercings in a friendly, clean atmosphere.

Went in for a piercing and tattoo consult. Genuinely the most condescending tattoo artists I have ever worked with, and prices were absurd - probably should have guessed from the name.

I had my nipples pierced by Chris yesterday and it was a great experience. He was extremely professional and efficient at his craft. Very clean and sanitary. He made me feel comfortable and I trusted him completely. I am already in love with my piercings and Im so happy I had such an awesome experience because of Chris. 10/10 I highly recommend!!!

It’s a great shop and I’ve had several piercings there, but one of their tattoo artists upcharged like hecka for some basic line art and didn’t even do what I asked. Would not recommend for ink. Shame.

I had an earring, permanent jewelry piece that unfortunately broke. the post snapped off after about 4 years of having it. And they replaced it no problem!

Came here for the first time to look at jewelry as my nose piercing has been catching on clothing and bothering me, was turned away because I needed an appointment. Never needed to do that in any other piercing shops before. Came back with an appointment. Their jewelry selection is very small and not very diverse. Upon stating I didnt love anything there, got no verbal offerings or feedback. In other shops I was offered options of ordering from their vendors or catalogs, or recommendations where to go in the area to find what I was looking for. Here there was nothing, just a look. When I suggested to shorten my post, piercer walked me back to their room, looked up my nose for a couple of moments, and stated it looked fine and I didnt need it shortened. Nothing else was offered, like say Hey, come back with something you like and wed be happy to put it in for you. I was walked to the front where I paid $10. I left a) not finding any jewelry I liked, b) not changing the post, c) with exactly the same problem I came in with - my piercing snagging on things and bothering me. No help was offered, no solutions presented, and it felt like I was just a nuisance to the piercer rather than a customer who needed help. I will not be coming back or recommending this place to anyone else.

GREAT place to get pierced!! Clean and professional, everyone made me feel welcomed and comfortable. I got my septum and my conch in one appointment, and while my pain tolerance for the septum wasnt the highest, it has healed up beautifully and Ive had no issues with either piercing. I will definitely be back for more!!

My experiences with tattoos and piercings at Slave to the Needle (both in Ballard and in Wallingford) have always been really great. The staff is friendly, the artists are talented, and the vibe feels right. This most recent visit was picking up an earring at the Ballard location on fully-booked Sunday. But they found time for me, which was nice of them. And the jewelry is exactly what I wanted it be. Thank yall for being such a nice set of shops

Was so pleased with my appointment I had. Josh did a piercing for me and I cant express how pleased I was with the entire procedure. The studio has the best decor and art Ive seen after having 18 piercings elsewhere. Clean and sanitary care was taken throughout. The way he talked me through the process and after care made me so much more comfortable with what was going to happen. Theyve gained a loyal customer, definitely worth the trip to Seattle.

I am frankly sad and disappointed that Im writing this review. I had done a lot of research looking for someone who did Japanese koi and scheduled a consultation with Aaron two years ago. We spoke and agreed on 15 hours for the piece and I paid my deposit and got on the incredibly long wait list.I have been excited for two years for today to arrive.I arrived at my scheduled time and before I was allowed to sign the waiver he wanted to show me the drawing we were going to do. (Foreshadowing?)Be brings me the drawing and its lovely, almost exactly what I wanted. I had been considering different flowers and articulated such. Saying can you please change the x flower to y? He then immediately got accusatory and said that we had agreed to it in our consult and that if I wanted changes I should have told him before showing up. Refusing to rework it. After all, he had done work on this art piece. I also commented that it was a bit big and that Id like it higher on my leg. It devolved quickly that hed give me a refund and that I needed to find an artist that would make a smaller piece (indicating that my tattoo isnt worth his brilliance)People, I was looking for a thigh piece, it is going to be about a foot long.I felt attacked, berated and insulted. I decided that if we had such a strong difference of opinion that I would just go. I am still bewildered at what happened but am thrilled that I didnt spend 15 hours being in a chair with him. Woof.

This place is AMAZING, very clean, comfortable, and professional!! Scheduled a last minute appointment with Chris and was literally in and out in 15 mins.It’s been a couple of months now and my piercing has been healing great, no issues - so happy I got it!

I’m from out of town and had an issue with my nostril piercing (previously pierced elsewhere) I had major issues adjusting my nose piercing and putting in my old jewelry. I booked an appointment with Chris on fairly short notice, the staff was all incredibly kind and welcoming. Chris had multiple options for me in regards to my nose piercing and incredibly fair pricing. He made us feel welcome and safe in a city that is not our own and my nose piercing is better than ever! Clean shop and fairly priced. Definitely recommend.

We honestly just driving by always heard of the name when asking around about piercings and tattoos. Stopped, didnt know about appointments only so walked in made same day appointment with piercer for hubby. He had such a great experience that Im going brave it myself soon.

Professional, friendly, clean lines! Darryl does excellent work, knows his trade, and stayed late to finish the job. This shot is 12 hours post finish.

I stood by the locked door and saw several people walking back and forth.It was 5pm said they were open I know they saw me but no one unlocked the door or said anything to me about the store being open or close. I biked clear the hell up there from Kent, my bad ,never again.

Thank you Kali! I had a great time doing my first piercings here. She helped me choose some jewelry, explained all the care instructions and everything very well, and the piercing itself (both earlobes) was fast and almost painless. Would definitely come here in the future if I want another one, or a tattoo down the line.

2 hrs after piercing and it’s feels only the slightest bit irritated (as expected) but it’s not even red! Josh did an awesome job, it was barely more than a pinch, I honestly was shocked at how easy it was. Thanks for the great piercing.

A few months ago I got piercings done by Josh and he was wonderful! Definitely one of the best experiences Ive had, we joked around and cleared the nervous air. I went back to check if they were healing correctly last month and they got me in the next day to do a little check up, no charge for the appointment. He answered all my questions and made sure I knew how to properly care for them.Great place!

I got an industrial cartilage piercing with Josh. He made sure I was comfortable and relaxed before getting set up for the piercing. He had a very good sense of my comfort level and didnt try to rush through things. The piercings placement is perfect and Josh walked me though all of the care info so everything has been healing up great.The whole studio is bright and clean and feels really inviting. I will definitely be going back for any future piercings!

I got my septum piercing done in April at Slave to the Needle (which my piercer Chris made such an amazing and comfortable appointment) but Im writing this review based on todays experience. I naively showed up to buy a new septum clicker without an appointment, and the compassion i received went beyond just a pleasurable customer service experience.Some context is that in that last few months Ive been experiencing critical health issues that have left me newly disabled. I was instructed that my beautiful septum ring would have to come out for several upcoming tests/procedures i had to do. I had just crossed the 6month mark and was terrified of taking my piercing out without a spacer because i had no clue how long i would need to go without my septum ring. I had 24hrs to find a spacer and after seeing that Slave to the Needle had to close early that specific day, i ended up at another jewelry shop. I waited two hours to get my ring out at this other shop and the whole time the piercer was telling me i didnt need a spacer and that i was acting overly cautious and just completely disregarded my individual medical needs.Fast forward to today. I had been wanting to get a septum clicker so that i can take my piercing in and out easier for procedures, and i knew i wanted to go back to Slave to the Needle. Its a lot of work for me to leave the house these days, so even though I had been wanting to get this task done for weeks, health and exhaustion always prevented it. So when i showed up today and saw a note on their door that jewelry shopping required an appointment, my heart sank and i was ready to turn around. My partner encouraged me to just go in and check, and by sheer luck they had the time to accommodate me in between things even though it was totally on me for not looking up the policy beforehand.As i said, Im new to being disabled. Im still trying to learn how to move around the world and often get met with so much impatience. We had to go up the tiniest set of stairs to get to the jewelery cases, but there was no railing and i was struggling. All of a sudden as i was starting to feel so embarrassed and like all eyes were on me, the employee helping me just held his arm out for support to help me up. I have literally never had a stranger do that for me.We talked about cane swords and cool woodworking walking sticks - he just made me feel so comfortable. He didnt try to ignore the obvious fact that i was disabled, but he also didnt give me special treatment. He just treated me like an actual human.I honestly cant believe how great of an experience it was, especially for being a walk in that was smooshed in between appointments. I didnt feel rushed, yet i was in and out of there so efficiently. Im sure we were a massive inconvenience but the whole staff acted like it was no issue.I am honestly grinning from ear to ear wearing my new clicker and writing this review. This was a customer service interaction Ill always remember. Slave to the Needle deserves all of the praise they get and more.

Had both of my nostrils pierced a couple of weeks back and was very pleased with the service and professionalism of the piercer. (I believe his name was Justin.) I was able to make a last minute appt, which is great. Loving the placement and quality opal jewelry that I purchased at my appointment.

Super great experience, everyone who I interacted with was really supportive of my needs as a disabled person in a wheelchair, no discrimination about that - the shop was accessible to me I could get through all of the doors, the only place that had stairs was up to their jewelry gallery, which I didnt need to use... So it was a very very accessible trip for me. The piercer Gracie was fantastic, she was able to get five out of seven piercings tapered open and she listened to me very much when I was talking to her about what I was feeling in terms of how the piercings felt as she was tapering them open. I would absolutely return to the salon again and I encourage others to visit.

Kali pierced my septum and I couldn’t be happier with my experience! She was super chill and professional, I loved that she walked me through the whole process and I was glad to see how sterile the whole place is! There was hardly any pain involved with my piercing and I am just over a week into my healing process and it has been 10/10.

This place is the top rated tattoo parlor in Seattle, and they rightfully deserve that title. They are so great at what they do. I went here for my first tattoo, it was one of my drawings and they did it perfectly. Went here again recently for angel/devil wing on my shoulders, I gave them some images to make something original and it was perfect, it was better than what i had pictured as my tattoo. They are very talented artists, and very nice even though I was cringing quite a bit! Ive heard people say theyre expensive but I think they charge fairly, both wings together were about $600, including the $100 deposit at booking. You pay for quality, they only do great quality tattoos and service. Would recommend them to anybody! They also were able to get me in quickly for the consult and the actual appointment, both times I came here. Overall, they are amazing! Nothing but things to say! Already planning my next one!

Got my eye brow pierced here many many years ago. It was a good experience but my suggestion to the buisness would be update your voice-mail. I called and it said you were open daily till 9pm. I needed to buy new jewlery because mine came out in the shower, but when I got there the sign on the door said everything including jewlery sales is by appointment only.

Ive been tattooed and pierced here and theyre always extremely friendly. They do great work! They walk you through everything if its your first time and they keep everything clean, very professional. Ive never had a bad experience here. Adam Fox, Amanda Baker, and Justin Ellis were the wonderful people I worked with and I would come back in a heartbeat!

Ive had 4 piercings done here now - all by professional and designated piercers. These folks know what theyre doing, from placing the jewelry on your body in a way thats aesthetically pleasing to helping you determine the right jewelry and size gauge. I have not once doubted their skills in body modification, and I will be referring everyone I know to get work done by this shop.

Justin pierced my nipples a couple weeks ago, and it was an amazing experience! Ive heard a few horror stories from other people who have had their nipples pierced incorrectly (never healed, ect.), and I can comfortably say that you will not have that experience here! Making my appointment was super easy, the staff were welcoming, and they had a lot of options for jewelry. Justin was incredibly friendly and took his time, making sure that I was happy with the placement. It was fun to be pierced by someone who absolutely loves their job. We were laughing and chatting the entire way through the piercing process. I have had zero issues post-piercing. I followed his directions for cleaning and maintenance, and my nipples are healing beautifully. No crusties; no infection; no more swelling! I give most of the credit to Justin on that one because placement and what glands the piercing goes through is a large determinant in how the nipples heal (I have a friend whose piercing was placed deeper into the breast tissue, and they never healed). Easily one of the very best shops in Seattle for tattoo.Honest Jon did an absolutely *outstanding* job on a tribute half sleeve on my left arm, that I got for my father who is fighting stage 4 brain/stomach cancer. My father was absolutely thrilled when he saw the tattoo.Jon is a 25 year tattoo veteran who does better work on a bad day, than 90% of tattoo artists do on their best days. He is absolutely worth the 6-9 month wait.I get stopped on an almost daily basis by total strangers who want to ask me where I got this tattoo done...that is a testament to the level of Jons work.He is now doing the rest of my right arm and I could not be happier. Every time I go in for a session, he amazes me with the quality and speed of his work. He gets more done in a 3 hour session than many other artists are able to do in five hours, and at a level of quality that is really insane.If you want a tattoo that you will love for the rest of your life: Do it right. Pick a great artist at a great shop like this one, and wait for them to become available. You will not regret it.

Got my nose pierced by Josh and let me tell you... that man has the touch of a butterfly! Barely hurt! He was friendly, followed all safety/sanitary protocols, was very informative, and made the experience fun! Value was superb for the service and jewelry as well! Shout out to Josh Noble Olson at the Ballard location for doing my rook piercing today. Scheduling an appointment was easy with a phone call. Due to covid I couldnt have a friend come with me to hold my hand, but Josh was thorough with explaining each step he was doing and was definitely experienced. So my nervousness went away as we chit chatted. Make sure you tell them if you have an iodine allergy!I think the pricing is very comparable to other places (I paid $87.50 before tip for the piercing, a fancy colored jewelry, and large bottle of saline spray).He took great care to make sure his station was clean, changed his gloves multiple times when necessary, and I didnt even cry. Absolutely love my piercing!

Ive been to many shops and I can say this is, by far, the most professional shop I have ever been to. My friend got her nostril pierced, and I my septum. We saw Josh and he was absolutely amazing. Aside from being super knowledgeable and professional, he was extremely personable as well. They cleaned the needle and jewelry right in front of us as the autoclave was right there in the room with us. Hands down the cleanest shop Ive ever been in. Amazing shop! I made a same-day appointment over the phone to be pierced by Adam and everything went perfectly. The staff was very welcoming and helpful, Adam walked me through every part if the piercing process, from picking jewellery to finishing up with the healing instructions. I walked in knowing what I wanted. I met with one artist (Jon, I believe) who ended up not having any available appointments on the day I needed. He was wonderful and he referred me to Abby, who was able to meet my needs as far as her availability. I totally appreciated her honest opinion/thoughts on my tattoo idea. She spent a lot of time going over her ideas. Completely trusting her as an artist, I choose to change the location of my tattoo from my arm to my shoulder (based on her suggestion and reasoning). First off mad shout out to my artist Adam Fox for giving me an amazing tattoo and the rest of the staff for being so awesome.The shop itself is very well kept and sanitary to the T. I made the mistake and went to their other location on accident and had the awkward conversation which I insisted I had an appointment there.Lucky for me I guess its a common occurance and she did me the favor of calling and letting the other shop know Im on the way.My only complaint would be price but really lets be honest a good tattoo costs money and they are indeed artists. Ill definitely be returning when I figure out my next ink.

Went in today with my partner for a simple paw line memorial tattoo for our cat. Tako was our artist and was a breeze to work with! He took both the imprint of her paw and a sketch done from it and converted it into a nice solid outline. Worked quickly and gently. The final result is very clean and beautiful.

Ive had three tattoos done here, by two different artists. Im thrilled with all three. I gave them my general ideas for what I wanted and the art they provided is PERFECT. For the two I got from Honest Jon he also helped me figure out where best to put them. On my left arm we discussed how to do the piece in a style that would work where I wanted it, and on my right he suggested an alternate location to what I had originally thought that I ended up liking a lot better. Its little pieces of advice like that that go the extra mile.The process went smoothly all three times it went more quickly than I expected.The facilities are great, too. I had a friend get a tattoo here recently, and they loved it so I decided to go! Went there for two piercings, as a walk in on the middle of a Thursday. Everyone was super friendly and made me feel welcome. This was my first piercing, and Adam did an amazing job both doing the piercing itself and making sure I was 100% okay the entire process. Plus, this place seems to have higher sanitation standards than any hospital in the area. If you’re even just curious, stop in and talk to them! (By the way, you’re not getting your $15 nipple piercing here, you’re paying for a QUALITY, well done piercing.)

My kiddo came here for ear piercings with Ben. He is FANTASTIC. I cant say enough positive things about our experience. Obviously, Slave is a really clean, welcoming, and reputable place but Ben really impressed me with his patience and kindness. He took time to explain things to my kiddo when they were scared and he was very professional and friendly. If you or your kiddo is nervous about piercings, hes definitely a great person to go see.

My friend and I came in late one night as walk-ins for piercing and although they werent able to take us that night Adam answered all our questions and we were able to schedule​ with Justin for the next evening. Writing this on behalf of my friend (who doesnt have an account):I got my second and third lobes (on both ears) done with Justin, and I was so impressed! I was super ultra nervous since I am very afraid of both needles and pain, but Justin was kind and understanding and walked me through every step thoroughly so that I had a good understanding of exactly what to expect. He was meticulously careful when drawing the placement of the holes to make sure that they lined up, and was very kind when I asked for one of them to be slightly moved.The actual procedure was very fast, and relatively painless (of course minus the moment the needle goes through). Justin was very gentle and I could barely even feel it when the new jewelry was put in. He also helped me with regaining my composure after the adrenaline rush from piercing ended. I am so pleased with my new piercings and will absolutely come back once I decide on where I want my next piercing!

Every time I go to Slave to the Needle, Im greeted by welcoming, friendly, and professional people. When I went in this weekend, my piercer stayed calm and calmed me down, pierced me with seasoned efficiency, and also consulted me on a different piercing Id been having a bad reaction to. He even explained that I can call or stop by if I have questions or need advice on any of my piercings - other shops have felt like I was bothering them with questions, but everyone here loves helping! The work is dynamite i love my artist and Ill be getting work from him in the near future. the staff cares about covid, and i felt taken care of and safe there. the 1 star deduction is only because sometimes its hard to get someone on the phone even calling a couple times in a row during work hours, in order to plan an appointment. if i could only remove half a star, i would.

I came in from out of town and they were able to pre-schedule my tattoo over the phone a month in advance which was really helpful. I worked with Danny Chan who did my tattoo. He was very informative and did an amazing job. I will be back next time I’m in town to get more work done!

If you would like a mechanic-type feel for your tattoo experience, this is your spot. No offense to mechanics, but the condescension and lack of care is palpable. They seem to do enough business that no single customer is important. There are too many quality tattoo shops/artists in Seattle to waste your time at Slave.

I got my septum pierced here. The gentleman who did is was great and did a fantastic job. I was very comfortable with him and the store, the ambiance all around. Everyone was friendly. I was able to get a titanium clicker anodized which really customized my jewelry and I absolutely love it. They carry very high quality jewelry for affordable prices. I highly recommend this place.

The artist I tried to work with here, Justin, was rude and unprofessional with me. I sent him a sketch and when I went in for my appointment, the design was completely different than the original sketch I sent. To this, Justin said that many people don’t actually know what they want when they send in ideas and that designs have to be altered. First off, this implies that I didn’t know what I wanted, which is untrue. If the design NEEDED to be so drastically changed, it would have been professional to communicate that with me before I went in to get the tattoo. Justin then told me that the sketch I sent in looked “as if a child had drawn it” which was just rude. There was just a huge lack of communication and the interaction left me feeling terrible and as if I were in the wrong and it was my fault that I didn’t like the design.

Scheduled an appointment over the phone to get my upper lobes pierced. When I arrived, I just had to fill out some paperwork and then got to choose my jewelry. They have a wide selection to choose from!! Ben was my piercer. He explained the process and answered any questions I had. Sterile instruments were used. Will definitely be returning here for any other future piercings and maybe even tattoos~

I was excited to visit this reputable shop. Made a same day appointment to get a nose piercing with a friend around noon for a 7:30pm appointment. Walked in, the receptionist was quick, kind and gathered our information. We waited for 45 minutes before getting an update that the appointment before was running behind. Waited another 10 before leaving. I get it- things happen but I was pretty disappointed with the lack of communication and how it was handled.

Go see Adam if you need/want something pierced, are looking for new jewelry or simply have a question about ear modification and repairs, they have the most calming, helpful demeanor of any piercer Ive ever been around. Cant wait for my next appointment!

As a first time tattoo getter a few months ago, I knew from the reputation that it has that I would be going to Slave to the Needle-but I was still incredibly nervous. I thought walking into a tattoo shop would be much more intimidating and that I would feel out of place-and I was very pleasantly surprised! Hes great, spoke to my kid directly and didnt BS her concerns. Shes got two straight, centered earrings to show for it. I highly recommend Adam specifically and STTN generally.

I had to park around the block and up the street, because it was around 6 pm on a weekday during rush hour, in a poorly lit neighborhood. Hehe. But other than that, the actual shop is very visible from the street and accessible. My piercer, Josh, was really friendly and professional. The vibe in this place is really laid back and welcoming. I even got a lollipop afterward because I was a little light-headed after getting my piercings done. Ill definitely come back here for future piercings. :)

A couple friends and myself wanted to get piercings and we came here over the weekend. We made appointments over the phone. My friends received their piercings and were very satisfied but when it came to be my turn I was told he didn’t have time to pierce me due to an upcoming appointment. I was given a five dollar coupon and sent out the door. I’m a little frustrated that our appoints were scheduled and not honored. An appointment doesn’t mean much at this shop!

My friend and I went here to get piercings done. I got my ears pierced and my friend got her nose pierced. Im nervous around needles and I was getting my ears re-pierced after a terrible piercing job done when I was younger. They were fantastic. They were professional, kind, and understanding. It was a really positive experience, and I highly recommend them.

Went in with the wife and had a decent idea of what we wanted to get. Nothing super involved but we were lacking on some of the details. The artist met with us and we covered a few things and in the end settled on the next steps. We emailed a few more ideas to incorporate for the base design as requested by the artist. on the day of the tattoo we showed up on time while the artist finally put all those ideas together into sketches, which were great.The actual tattoo process went as well as they ever do. Were both happy with the results, though something in the yellow dye gave me an allergic reaction which is strange because as far as I was aware Im not allergic to anything.

Adam the piercer was a warm, kind person and helped my friend and I feel at ease prior to our piercings! He was very helpful and funny, too.

I had some idea of what I wanted but when I sat down with the artist my thoughts and his thoughts turned my body art into something I will happy with the rest of my years. It also fits in with some volunteer projects I do in the community. The artist was skilled like I never thought possible and worked on the art in a way that I can build on it in the future.The tattoo shop was clean, hip and creative. It was a real treat. I got tattooed in March (almost a year ago) and still look at this tattoo every day and hate it. So I figured it was time to write a review. For perspective, this was my 9th tattoo taking longer than 2 hours, done by 6 different artists in 2 states. The experience was horrible - this artist was uncommunicative, impersonal, and seemed to be just shy of irritated every time I spoke. I didnt realize he and I were not on the same page about where we were headed with this tattoo until after hed done half of the line work. This meant 1) that I had to come back for another session on a tattoo that should not have taken as long as it did, and 2) that the finished tattoo looks like the artist got lost on the way there. Bottom line: The line work is awful, and obviously so. Especially the parts that just... end. Abruptly. Like halls in the Winchester Mystery House. The color looks like it was done by an 8 year old with some natural talent -- except for the color that managed to be done outside of the hard-to-miss black lines?? And the weird gaps that were intentional? This is the first tattoo Ive had that has scarred during the healing process, and theres no fixing that. At this point, I would love to just not hate this tattoo. Unfortunately, will be looking elsewhere for that.

They’re a great atmosphere and friendly people. I’ll admit, I can be a bit of a baby, but the pierced just talked me through the whole thing and I was honestly comforted. You know that if I ever decide to get a tattoo or more piercings, Slave to the Needle is always going to be my first choice.

I was really excited to be working with Adam Fox as I see him as one of the better tattoo artists in Seattle. I show up not even 10 minutes late and said I thought you werent going to show up. This is a tattoo I expected to take atleast 4-6hrs in total I didnt think I would need to communicate I was going to be a few minutes late but that is on me for assuming. I start to talk with him go over the design and it wasnt what I had in mind. Some details were not included that I wanted for sure and others added that I had not intended to be the focus. Specifically a jacket I didnt mean to be on the design. We went back and forth and what I said and didnt say and what I want and didnt want really just arguing. I had to keep asking what can we do to move past this. He was visibly iritated and at this point he clearly didnt want to do the tat or redesign it. I decided to cut both our losses and not get the tattoo. Adams demeanor from the time I walked into the shop was negative.TLDR: Ive gotten many tattoos but never worked with an artist so polarizing and unprofessional especially when it come to redesigning which you think wouldnt be too foreign for an tattoo artist to do especially when its going to be on my body forever.

He hadn’t seen it at all and I’d previous asked if I should bring in the same photos with the promise I wouldn’t need too. It was just a really disappointing fit for me. Our schedules clashed as well, honestly he didn’t try to connect with me. If you can’t even say ya I’d like to work on that for a while then why was my time waisted.however I didn’t get any work done so take me with a grain of salt. I hope the work there is great for you and mine was just an off day.

Josh did an amazing job on my tragus piercing. Very professional and kind. Talked me through everything and made it a great experience. Will be returning for future piercings. Amazing!

The know-nothing nitwit at the reception desk couldnt do or figure out anything solution oriented. I gave several chances, and NOPE. I had been to five other piercing places looking to downsize my bridge piercing, it was obvious most other people did not know what they were talking about. I came in and saw Justin yesterday and he instantly got measurements gauge size and found a perfect fit for the downsize. It was also very inexpensive and he was chill af. Don’t go anywhere else!

Best tattoo shop in Washington State!!! Very professional and clean environment. They do have a minimum of $100 even if you are getting something small, but to get one of the best artist for something that will be with you the rest of your life is well worth it!

I have had great experiences here with the piercer. Very attentive and friendly as well as knowledgeable about products and infection control. I really appreciated how they hold cleanliness and sterilization in high regard. It is obvious that they really care about there clientele!

Super super disappointed! I can sit here and give you guys a step-by-step on what happened but ultimately it comes down to I came to this place looking for some expert advise and this guy could not be bothered and refused to to point me in the right direction. All he could say was go to the website go to the website. look dude if I wanted to go to the website I would have stayed home and not drove an hour and a half to talk to somebody in person. It’s too bad I was going to be spending a large sum of money to get all the work I wanted done but I’ll be taking my business somewhere else to another company who has enough respect for their clientele.

Unprofessional shop, as a non-local they tried to book and take my money for an ink session without ever letting me speak to the artist myself, and was extremely sparse in communication otherwise.I regularly travel and work with appointment-only artists and have never dealt with this.

Josh did an amazing job piercing my daughters ears. Shes 11 and was really scared and anxious, but he walked her through the process and gave her control over when the piercing happened. Love him!

Rude staff. My friend went here and got some work done. I thought it was a pretty awesome piece until he told me about the BS rude staff and how they shafted him out of time and his deposit because their staff was too incompetent to do their jobs right. Well yeah, I pretty much went in for a simple look and I can honestly say, I wont be going here since the staff did not bother to give me the time of day when I asked for help with some jewelry. They seem like every other flakey ink shop packed with every day Joes that could not keep a real day job.

I got 3 piercings here, two on the earlobe and one rook. The piercings healed very well and were done in exactly the spots that I wanted. I unfortunately do not remember the name of the guy who did my piercings anymore, but it was obvious that he took pride in his work and made sure that I was comfortable.

Gosh i really enjoyed this place until they charged me 350 to change out my nose rings only to have one of them break 3 days later. What a disappointment.. i was so embarrassingly shocked when they said the price i felt stuck.

Took my son in for ear piercings and the artist was nice, considerate, and full of information. Went smoothly and better than expected! Couldnt be happier.

Unorganized receptionist couldn’t give us a straight answer on whether or not the artist would be able to do the tattoo. Wasted our time when we came from out of town. Should have tried booking with a different artist for our out of town trip. Led us to believe that we would be able to get the tattoo and on our way to the consult appointment, told us we wouldn’t be able to. Very irritating. Would not recommend.

I have gotten quite a few tattoos over the years and during my travels. I have created a type of mural tattoo on my back that I like to add to whenever I travel to a different country. After multiple recommendations, I went to Slave the Needle finally to start a new design on my right calf. I am really pleased with the work and skill of my artist and I truly look forward to expanding on the design Slave to the Needle got started!

Bruce was my artist and was suuuuuuper comfortable to work with. He was patient, delicate, and let me take the breaks I needed. Great staff all around.

Called prior to appointment, mentioned I was delayed, asked if itd be okay if I was 10-15 mins late. Receptionist said thatd be fine, just not to be more than 15 mins late.Showed up 13 minutes late, was told I would have to reschedule and that I shouldve arrived earlier. Im sure the artists are fine, but I didnt even get the opportunity to get in there thanks to the receptionist.

Besides having a name that’s problematic in this day and age (I’m no one’s slave), I feel like this shop was unprofessional. I called during normal business hours and got a voice mail that pretty much directed me to the shop’s website. The person answering the website was on it, but the shop couldn’t answer my call? I had to jump through hoops answering questions which would just be duplicated during a consult, only to be told the next day to call into the shop to schedule a consultation, which the back and forth on the web wasted days of time for scheduling the initial consult. That’s a hard pass! I’m not begging anyone to take my money. I’m not sure why they are “triaging” people over the web versus just having people call and not waste time, but this is a very unprofessional practice. Pass, pass, pass!

Went in their for a virtical libret, got it pierced. Noticed it was not placed correctly 2 days after, so I go back in and talk to another piercer who tells me thats not where he would have placed it, but did nothing to correct it said it would heal fine and look fine. Now a month later it is definitely crooked, and I am having it pierced professionally by another piecer. I find it lame I wasted healing time to correct it, to find out I was correct all along. If you feel it isnt placed right dont hesitate to take it out.

RIP OFF ALERT, I spent 4,000 at this place and the try and scam me out of 100$ Saying I was late to a appointment which I never was. This place is a joke and the owner MR.BELL is a WEASEL for this type of treatment to a loyal customer who always tipped my artist well. Not a place they care about there customers they think they are to big to care.

Schedule an appointment. Once your in youre the focus and theyll take great care of you. I never go anywhere else, even for little things like earring backs.

Got a piercing done yesterday by Justin. It wasnt until it was slightly swollen this morning that I realized the piercing was really off center/crooked. My friends agreed that it was very obvious. I took it out. Maybe I just have bad luck? Anyway, bad experience.

Know what you want going into it! Its great to ask questions and they dont mind answering but know your stuff and have a basic plan for what piercing/tattoo you want. Prices are good and they have so many options for jewelry!

Holy guacamole getting the right peircer makes a huge difference. The employees here are knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating. Im coming here for my next peircings and when i get a tattoo in the future im coming here again.Btw josh is the best. He was patient with my anxiety, answered all my questions, and a week later i still have not experienced any pain or complications with my beautiful peircings.
