These guys have been around for a very long time and have multiple different artists that can do a multitude of different kind of styles of tattoos. I have gotten all my tattoos from Modern BodyArt from different Tattoo artist. They have all exceeded my expectations on how they will come out and the time and effort they put into them.

Honestly the best tattoo experience so far! I was a walk in appointment looking to get a fine line tattoo of handwriting from a loved one, birth flowers and music notes. Alexandra was beyond amazing. She listened to all my ideas and truly drew up the perfect tattoo. She was super relatable, talked throughout the entire session and is extremely talented. I will 100% be going back to her!

Gina is incredibly experienced, professional, and fun. I went to her for a septum piercing. I had a rhinoplasty and septoplasty a few years back, and wasn’t aware that my nasal anatomy is now pretty atypical. Gina said there was a “very small window” that my septum could actually be pierced, then pierced it perfectly with utmost confidence. She also avoided my surgical scar. The entire process was quick, smooth, and practically painless. You can trust her with weird anatomy (or normal anatomy, of course).

Me and my boyfriend went in To get our ears pierced for the first time. We were nervous but they did an excellent job! Would reccomend. Gina is a boss.

Lexi had done 3 pieces on my chest to help cover some older tattoos, and she killed it . I started as a walk In and now I love having Lexi as my artist ! I was truly surprised when she said she’d only been doing it for 3 years , very skilled and steady hands . Thanks Lexi !

Gina is truly outstanding!! Not only was she very supportive and excited to hear it was my first time getting a piercing, she made the process a breeze and even complimented how well I did. I would highly, highly recommend going to her for any kind of piercing, whether its your 1st or your 10th.

Ahh! I got the coolest piece done here by Courtney and omg I cant tell you how much I love it. She was so gentle!! So gentle in fact that the placement didnt even hurt, even though it was supposed to be in a spicy area. She called me a unicorn of a client and I ride that high to this day LMAO. shop was clean, awesome decorations, she even set up a privacy partition for us. She took her time and locked in, but was so quick I couldnt believe we were done! Highly, highly recommended!

Definitely unimpressed with Ginas demeanor and helpfulness towards my piercing change appointment. She was dismissive and distracted with the food in her mouth and her cell phone. Went instead to Purgatory tattoo shop on Central ave, they had a better selection of jewelry, better prices, and provided a seamless customer service experience.

Courtney did an amazing job on my arm tattoo and face tat! 😍 Such a great tattooist, she was so patient, kind and professional. I highly recommend this shop , so clean and a lovely atmosphere✨😊

My friend and I stopped by on Easter Sunday for tattoos. I selected a piece from Brannys flash @brannytattoos and he did an excellent job! Very personable and a talented artist. The tattoo is healing beautifully. Great experience for anyone looking for quality work and a friendly atmosphere.

I booked an appointment to consult with her about a piercing I recently had done elsewhere that I wasn’t happy with. I came here for my first “real” tattoo. It covered up a small messy piece I had in HS. The finished result looks beautiful- Jeff Ortega is very skilled and made me feel comfortable through the entire process. I heavily recommend Albany modern body art.

Gina was so awesome. Went in for a jewelry changing, Gina advised on what was right for the moment. I had some concerns and she took me right in and looked at my piercing. She didn’t even do the piercing and still with zero expectation of selling something she gave me a free consult. I ended up buying a new ring, but the fact that she just cared enough to look at it meant a lot. I now plan on using her for future piercings and am very thankful of the hospitality.

Just needed to add another review to say how great Gina is with piercings! I’ve gotten my last few piercings from her over the last few years & I always leave the shop very happy. I went to see her last week to (finally) get my nipples pierced, something I’ve been wanting for years. Gina helped me feel very at ease and calm while she set everything up for my piercing. We chit chatted a little and boom my piercings were done and looking fantastic. I got two tattoos and a piercing here. Love love love this place! Courtney was the one who did my tattoos and I have nothing but amazing things to say! The tattoos came out amazing, Courtney even took what I asked and did even better than I could ever imagine. Gina pierced my rook, literally no pain! I was shocked when she told me she was done. Went to look at some flat back stud earrings since they carry Buddha Jewelry. They didn’t have what I wanted in stock but the staff was very friendly and gave good insights on where else to look in the area.

Read a ton of great reviews about Gina, &…they are all true!! She is awesome & extremely knowledgeable about what she does. I had a dermal by my wrist done & felt nothing. It is super flush to my skin & looks great. Don’t hesitate to book w/her, she is fantastic!!

Came in for a walk in appointment with my boyfriend, they sketched out exactly what he wanted and printed mine right away. Both artists- Courtney and Josh- were fabulous and the tattoos came out phenomenal. Really reasonable prices and the tattoos were quick. The studio was insanely clean and we felt very comfortable getting our tattoos there. Absolutely would recommend!

It was a good time at the shop and working with their piercer was fantastic. She is very nice, energetic, and carries a great knowledge also around piercing care. She offers professional jewelry cleaning as well, I plan on making an appointment for a cleaning, and to work on where to place some new piercings.I originally came in for changing out posts to some new piercings and turned into a great experience overall.

Went into the piercing very anxious, but Gina was so talkative and comforting that she made the entire experience very easy. The piercing was done quick and very professionally. Gina was amazing and I’ll definitely be coming back.

Went in several weeks ago for a helix piercing done by Gina and went back today to downsize. Both experiences were amazing. Yesterday was my first time going to modern Ink, The reviews alone sold me & I promise they are 100% accurate. I got my VCH piercing and I’ve been wanting it for a while but I was a little nervous being that it’s in such a private area. Gina is absolutely hands-down such an amazing person & expert piercer. She made me feel so comfortable and the process was very quick n easy. She is for sure a master in her craft and I can’t wait to get more piercings done. I can’t say enough good things about her! If you’re on the fence please rest assured you will get everything that you’re looking for.

I sat here for 3 hours waiting to get a sleeve done to go to my stencil put on and for them me thier not going to do it, this place is a waste of time

Went here to get my daith pierced, was a little nervous as it was my first cartilage piercing, but Gina made the experience amazing! She was super patient with me picking my jewelry (they have a beautiful selection so it is tough to decide), and was great about explaining the process and answering all my aftercare questions. Love my piercing so much, it came out perfect! You can tell that Gina is passionate about what she does, and she really made my visit great from start to finish. Will definitely be returning for future piercings.

I came in as a walk in on the off chance they had a weekend opening whike killing some time in town. I was pleasantly supprised they had a spot they could get me in the next day. Came in and worked with Josh and I was very impressed with the work he did. He put together a custom design from a few refrence pics pretty quick, and the design was fantastic. The piece not only turned out great, but was done faster than I expected and cost half of what I was expecting. I would very highly recommend this spot and Josh in particular.

Josh has done two tattoos on me and one on my wife and we both love the work done. Last night was the most recent one and josh stayed until almost 10pm (6hour piece)with me to get the tattoo finished. Really appreciated it due to the fact I don’t have free time on the regular so I had no idea when I could get back to finish the piece.

My first tattoo, super nice, walked me thru the process. Alot of great suggestions, making sure the final product made sense and was fluid. Sent ideas of where things would be placed for the rest of my sleve. Very professional.

Gina is amazing. My friend and I went in to get our noses pierced, she took us and our third friend into the room and joked around with us the whole time. I’ve gotten pierced by Gina a few times before and have had no major issues at all. I went to get an inverse labret piercing and in my excitement and adrenaline filled state after getting pierced, I didn’t think to check the piercing from the inside as it looked fine on the outside. Turns out it looked crooked from the inside. So I went back to tell her the angle was off thinking she would be able to fix it for me. Instead she told me it settled that way because of the muscles in my lip and that she had to base the piercing off of how flat it looked from the outside. So basically there was nothing wrong with it. I decided to get a second opinion because I wasn’t sure it was actually fine. Ultimately found out the piercing was in fact crooked because it was not perpendicular to the tissue of my lip. It had to be pulled and has to heal before I can get it redone properly elsewhere. Again, I’ve never had an issue before so it is very unfortunate that this happened and I am saddened that I have to go through this for a piercing I was so excited to have.***EDIT: The owner, William, reached out to me and was very helpful. He made me feel more at ease about the situation and handled it professionally. It is obvious he truly cares about his customers and how his business is run.

I’ve been here a few other times to get jewelry changed or help with aftercare so i was very familiar with the piercer, Gina. My favorite piercer works here, her name is Gina and if you were looking to get a new piercing this is the only place you can go probably in the entire US! She’s friendly and makes sure you’re comfortable, she is professional and quick and will answer any question you may have! Would highly recommend!

I went to Modern Body Art this Saturday (4/8/17) to see the piercer, Gina Carbone, who was extremely nice! The shop was well decorated, super clean and felt very welcoming. Gina herself was kind beyond words, and was even willing to stay a bit after her usual hours to help me with my piercing. Ill definitely be going to her in the future for any new piercings I get!

My husband and I got our tattoos done by Gary Aldrich. He was great. Super clean, fast, friendly and exceeded our expectations! We are already thinking of getting more tattoos done by him and I have my mom from another town already booked with him because she also loved his work! I highly recommend him!

I’ve had great experiences at Modern Body Art and have always recommended piercings there. I decided to get the bridge of my nose pierced. I have always had a great rapport with the staff and Gina, their piercer.Leading up to the piercing everything was well explained. For a bridge piercing it is very important for it to be as straight as possible as it is in the center of your face. Upon review of the piercing immediately after, I noticed it was crooked slightly, but enough for me to notice. I then asked Gina to confirm as I respect her professional opinion. She then stated it looked fine and calmed any concern I had.Later that night, upon arriving home, I still believed that the piercing was uneven. I had a few individuals come to me and say that they did notice that it was slightly off.I then went in the following day to discuss with Gina my options. She was very adamant that the piercing was straight, although you could sense my concern and unhappiness with the piercing. I discussed having to re-pierce it, but she was not confident and tried to dissuade me that it could not be any straighter or different than it appeared. The way I was spoken to and the way it was handled, I felt it could’ve been a bit more professional and came off as a bit rude. I then left, and had decided to seek a second opinion elsewhere. I didn’t feel comfortable going back to her for any further advice, and will probably not return as a future client. Unfortunately, I will no longer be recommending Albany Modern Body Art.***EDIT***Upon leaving my review, the owner William had contacted me in under 1 hour after posting which I felt was handled well as having an unhappy client is very important to a business as any negative reflection hurt not only the business itself but the individuals involved. He was very professional, sincere, and you can sense he does care a lot about his business, the community, and the clientele.

Gina was awesome, made a private piercing not so bad for a private person, got thru it with ease! Would 10/10 recommend!! I couldn’t even feel it the next day! My friend Also got her tongue pierced and she’s doing great! Clean shop nice atmosphere 🙃

I got my very first tattoo here and I gotta say Im super happy! Everyone was so nice and reassuring and mike was really nice especially with it being my first tattoo. He was even super nice when my card was giving me issues, my public anxiety was high so the patience helped alot! He did amazing and honestly will be back when its time for tattoo number 2 :)

Went with a friend on a late Saturday night looking to get an eyebrow and a nose piercing between the two of us; the entire shop was nice and open and quite clearly a clean place. Our piercer, Gina, was absolutely amazing and funny, as well. Everything was sterile and Gina made the entire process simple and positive. 10/10 will definitely be going back to Gina for more piercings and perhaps some tattoos at their shop in the future.

Walked in and was immediately greeted by 3 extremely nice people. Told them I called earlier about a particular piercing. Immediately set me up with the paper work. Went to get a septum and upper navel piercing done by Gina. Gina was fantastic, personable and professional. The store was clean and mostly empty due to covid precautions and overall the visit lasted only twenty minutes. Definitely would recommend here for anyone looking for a piercing.

I came in with a piercing emergency. Gina helped me immediately. I got my nose pierced at another shop called Shocker and they messed up the piercing. Gina was amazing and the most professional, caring tattoo artist and person in general. I got a small tattoo on the back of my ankle done by Gary Aldrich yesterday and was so pleased with the experience. I brought all my friends and he set up chairs so everyone could watch. Gary was super personable, made me laugh, and a did not mind that I made him print out the tattoo in at least four different fonts. The studio was super clean and I am so pleased with how the final product came out. I will be back for more!

Go here! Just finished my second tattoo with Gary and this man is great at his craft. Came in gave him an idea of what I wanted and he knew exactly what to do! The rest of the staff are all cool and humor flys through the shop during your sitting. The shop itself is very clean and fun. Highly recommended! I’ll be back!

So far Ive gotten two tattoos from Josh at Modern Body Art. Both times were fantastic experiences. He was so helpful with design questions I had and made sure to figure out exactly what I wanted before starting. During the process he frequently asked how I was doing and updated me on where we were in the piece. All of the staff were super enthusiastic about their work which made it a great environment. The tattoos came out amazing with great colors and line work. The price was a little high but definitely matched the quality of the finished product. 100% would recommend.

I had a walk-in with Tommy after my 4 year old cartilage piercing swelled up and became embedded yesterday. He was able to remove it quickly and efficiently (with an assist from Gavin) and was very considerate of my comfort level during the process. He replaced my old jewelry with a new hoop from a sealed, sterile package, and the shop itself was clean and organized. I didnt catch the name of the woman who greeted me when I walked in, but she was friendly and welcoming. Overall, everyone there made sure my experience was as painless as possible under the circumstances, and I will absolutely visit Modern Body Art again in the future. Highly recommend!

We went later at night- 7pm. And were welcomed right away. 3 of us went in for nipple piercings and it was the best experience I ever had with being pierced. Piercer was so relaxed and professional; never pushing our friend who was so nervous. Super clean and our new go to spot!

I’ve known Gary a couple years now and yet again, he didn’t let me down! He takes the time to make sure everything is perfect and makes sure it is 110% what I want. He makes good conversation and is pleasant to be around. I recommend him to anyone and everyone looking for a tattoo artist.

So Jill one of the best piercers in albany, has been my go-to for the past 7 years, she has done more than 10 piercings for me. no problems. Jill and I lost contact and the one time I try someone else, it’s crooked. Issue 1, is that Gina doesn’t use clamps or mark where the piercing is supposed to go. She just freestyles with people’s bodies. The side it came out at ended up more forward. Now it doesn’t sit in the middle. 2, I wasted $80 on this crooked piercing. I regret piercing my septum here. Everything is overpriced. My piercing is almost healed so no it isn’t fresh , i know how a septum piercing is supposed to look, it naturally moves around but is supposed to be right in the middle when you adjust it. Also my skin heals fast. I started looking into going to shockers because i wanted to get it re pierced . and then i see Jills name in the review section & so i called the store to make an appointment with her but unfortunately they had told me she was no longer at shockers. I only went to Gina cause i couldn’t find Jill.You guys messed up letting the best piercer in Albany leave shocker! I really played myself thinking I’ll ever find somebody that would be just as good as jill.I am very disappointed and dissatisfied. I will never go here again or recommend this place to anyone. I will be taking this piercing out.

Went to Gina for a helix piercing with no appointment. Gina was so calm and friendly. It was the best piercing experience Ive ever had, and it was beautifully done. Highly recommend going to visit Gina if you need a piercing!

I got my daith pierced by Gina and she was the best piercer I’ve had to date! Everyone was really nice but I am super disappointed in my tattoo. Customer service was wonderful. I saw all of the awesome reviews and decided to go in for a walk in foot tattoo. The artist warned me about fading with foot tattoos, which I was prepared to deal with, but there are literally gaps in the ink of my tattoo. And you can tell where she pushed too hard and the ink is bleeding out the sides of what should be sharp lines. The facility was really nice and everyone was welcoming! Just not pleased with the result at all. Customer service was great tho.

Went to see Gina yesterday to have her do the piercings for our family. She was so patient with my girls. My 14 year old was having her nose pierced and we were getting our 2 month old daughters ears done. She was very reassuring with my older daughter who was nervous and she was amazing with the baby. She also did my nose and an industrial on my fiancé. Everything was sterile and changed out with each of us. We cant stop talking about what a wonderful experience it was and how awesome of a job she did on all of us. Cant recommend her enough! We will definitely go back to her for any future piercings!!

LOVE this place!! I was on vacation in Saratoga for the holiday weekend and got the urge to get a fresh paint job. Called the shop and Gary told me to come on down . He had me in and out and the tattoo was exactly what I wanted, came out beautifully and the price was great. Poor Gary was in pain because his stomach was hurting him but he was such a champ, he pushed through and did an amazing job which really shows what a terrific work ethic he has. I first stopped in at Modern Body Art about a year ago for some piercings by Gina, who was great at making me feel comfortable; she also had an impressive selection of jewelry for cartilage piercings. In the last couple weeks, I have been tattooed by both Carli and Kate, who are both awesome ladies and do their best to give you the coolest tattoo possible. Carli tattooed a beautiful jack olantern on my arm (the picture doesnt do it justice), and Kate tattooed a gorgeous lady with a distorted and monstrous reflection on my leg. I cant wait to return for more work. 😍👻

I got my ear pierced here. I got a double helix piercing. The jewelry that was used was the inappropriate size, and because of that, no room was left for the swelling and the back of my earring started to go into the back of my ear. On top of that what they charged was high way robbery. Would not ever go back here. Would not recommend to anyone. Also this establishment is not very clean.

This past summer i got my nose pierced by gina, and today i had the pleasure of having her pierce my tongue. I dont know how she does it but shes very calming and the piercing this time didnt hurt at all. Would definitely recommend her to anyone who is afraid of needles or not great with pain. Everyone ive met are very nice and welcoming, and the shop is clean and nicely decorated. Definitely plan on going back for another piercing after my tongue heals.

Parking was available, shop was easy to find, professional, clean and service was friendly. Open on Sundays which is why we originally went there. Tatoo artist did a very good job but we felt for a small 1/2” heart behind the ear and a 1” double heart on the ankle was slightly overpriced. Manager reached out to me and agreed to make things right which we found very professional and was much appreciated. Would go there again if needed and would definately recommend to friends and family!

The shop was in a really accessible location, was super clean, and had a great atmosphere! I was extremely nervous about getting my nose pierced but Gina did a really good job both with the piercing and making sure I was comfortable.

Another shop screwed up my conch piercing, putting in a post way too small and caused my ear to swell up, resulting in the back almost becoming embedded in my ear. I came here, and they quickly were able to remove the jewelry, helped clean out my ear and put in a fresh, larger post. I am extremely greatful, and they did an amazing job

Very professional. I called ahead and no appointment was needed. I walked in and was immediately taken. Another company had screwed up a piercing so I took it out and came here to have it fixed. I was in and out in 20 minutes and my piercing looks great! I will definitely go back for the rest of my piercings.

Gotten 7 of my 11 tattoos there, all of them numbers or writing, by various artists there. The place smells sanitized. The tattoos are good quality, prices are very fair, and the artists are social and nice. A great place to get tattooed in the area.

I got my belly button pierced here. It was a very quick and easy process and the piercer talked me through everything. The only thing I wish could have been different was that I didnt have a choice of the ring they were going to use. Not sure if this is a more professional thing to do, but I know most places let you choose. Also, it was kind of pricey for my liking, being as I didnt get to choose the ring and it only took hardly two minutes of the piercers time, but I understand nothing is cheap anymore. Other than those little things, it was a great experience, there were very little troubles. My piercing is healing well and so far I have not had any problems with it. I would definitely suggest this shop to others.

I have been collecting tattoos for 20 years. I have met more than a hundred tattoo artists. I never imagined that I would have the great fortune to meet, and get tattooed, by an artist like Chris Reynolds. He is the best artist I have ever seen. I cannot believe how awesome my tattoos are. I have my chest, neck, and sleeves by him. My tattoos make other accomplished tattoo artists say wow!Since he moved away from San Diego years ago, I have not got another tattoo. Once you got Chris, no other artist can hold a candle to him, its difficult to find another artist.I am going to go to NY from San Diego next summer to get some more tattoos. I dont even think the length and cost of the trip are excessive. When Chris was in San Diego, people came from NY to get tattooed by him. People that have never met or seen me before have stopped me on the street to ask if my sleeve was done by Chris Reynolds.You could live a hundred lives and you will never meet another like him. You better get in there and get some while you can. He aint getting any younger!

One of the highest rated places from a google search, I decided to get my tattoo done here even though it was about half an hour out of the way. Brought in a image from the internet that was roughly what I wanted, and with a few questions about what Id like and a couple days to draw it up, Jeff had turned the concept into a fantastic piece. Looked even better with color and shading when he applied it. I would absolutely recommend going here for any work you want done.

THE BEST SPOT IN ALBANY!Doug is an amazing piercer.I got one dermal done there by him right by my eye.Unfortunately, like a dummy I ripped it and doug was able to take a look at it and remove it without hurting me. He then went above and beyong and re-pierced the other side for me. This is one of those shops that I say: TAKE MY MONEY! because they deserve it.Friendly staff, great atmosphere and the professionalism is through the roof. I wont be going anywhere else from now on. GREAT GREAT GREAT!!

I’m gunna start by saying I’ve never left a review of anything ever in my entire life— but I wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t write about my experience here. I came here for my 3rd tattoo and this one was the biggest and most detailed. I made an appointment with Gary and even though he wasn’t available for 2 weeks I decided to stick with it. IM IN LOVE WITH MY TATTOO. He took my idea and brought it to life in a way I didn’t even imagine it. It’s a million times better than I could have dreamed. He designed it so beautifully— with SO MUCH DETAIL. My friends words were “you literally have a piece of art on your back”. If I ever get another tattoo I know I’m going back to Gary. He also made me comfortable and kept me laughing through the pain. I can’t say enough good things. GO TO GARY !!

I went there to get a SUPER SIMPLE tattoo and I dont know how it can be messed up so bad. The line is so uneven and the edge of the moon is already smudged! you can see clearly the two lines of moon are not even fully connected at the bottom of the corner of the moon. I dont want to reveal her name out of the respect but I was extremely disappointed especially its something that is permanent. I DMed this person on instagram but she was blaming it on the spot is very delicate and it will smudge eventually. $100 went down the strain and I am so upset because when ppl see it they literally all ask why it looks so off

I loved my experience at Modern Body Art! Josh Mosh is an amazing artist....so awesome and talented that I went for two tats in less than a week!! I first went with my partner and three of my friends, and we all got the same tat on our wrist. Josh did all three and his attention to detail was absolutely perfect. (I was a tattoo virgin before this one.) Then, since I mustered up the courage for that one, I went to get another to fulfill a promise I made to myself a long time ago. Growing up as a diehard Red Sox fan, I always wanted a wicked cool Sox tat. Well, Josh mastered it! The baseball stitching is soooo legit! It’s stunning. I can’t tell you how many compliments I’ve received on it. I highly recommend both Modern Body Art and Josh Mosh. The place is extremely clean and respectable. When I go for my text tat, it’ll for sure be there and with Josh Mosh once again! :)

Tattoos here are mid, I got simple roman numeral tat and the guy went too hard at the beginning and too light at the end. Def need to get it retouched somewhere else, and it’s brand new.

I go to Jeff Bult, He does amazing Japanese style art. My sleeve includes a lot of Miyazaki pieces including Howls Moving Castle, Ponyo and Spirited away. His color and accuracy are spot on. I plan on having my entire arm done with this particular artist. I wont go to anyone else. Fair prices and good bedside manner. He also does semi realism and trad, pretty much anhthing you can dream up, this man can make it happen. I highly recommend him. -Staci

Dude intentionally messed my face tattoo up knowing Im music artist and tattoo model. Charged me 370 jus for a bad eyebrow tattoo and different sized knuckle tattoos! And then told me when I complained that hes fresh out jail living in a halfway house!
