The place was clean and comfortable! And Matias was awesome!! He hooked me up with a long session of multiple tattoos and they all came out crisp and picture-perfect! His lettering work is immaculate. Hes so, so knowledgeable on the art and science of tattooing. He patiently and kindly advised me to alter some of my original ideas so that they would last longer and look better. But he also took what I had to say in mind as well! And Im so grateful for that! Any artist that will work with you to create that perfect tattoo instead of putting trash on your body is an excellent artist in my book. Will def be coming back for more 😭 Also, they have one of those get-what-you-get tattoo gumball machines, which is so much fun! Highly recommend this shop and Matias my artist.

Ian is the best! Have been going to him for years and even after leaving Albany I still only go to him. If you want quality work done, he doesn’t disappoint. He is so talented and professional and I have nothing bad to say. He is also not heavy handed with tattooing which helps lol

My friend and I went in to get matching tattoos this past weekend. We called first and spoke to Matias, who was super enthusiastic about our idea. Once we got to the shop, he was quick to look at our suggestions and draw them up for us. While he was in the back, piercing artist Erin entertained and helped us with paperwork while also helping a young woman and her mother with the process of getting the right paperwork in order. She was quick to answer questions and give advice, even offered us piercings while we were waiting, but it was a tattoo day. Once we got into the back, we were asked if we’d like to listen to music or watch a movie while we were getting tattoos, and since baby dinosaurs were on the roster, we decided to watch the land before time with our artist, and he was so excited. The cutest reaction I’ve ever seen. The owner, Ian, stopped by while we were getting tattooed and his energy/presence were both very welcome in the shop. The respect his artists have for him is pretty evident. Our tattoos took 2 to 3 hours apiece-they are decent sized- and every suggestion that we had, Matias told us why it would or wouldn’t work and any idea that would work, he was so excited about. His enthusiasm was really infectious. He vibed with our taste in music and preference for paleontological movies and overall he did a great job. The tattoos look phenomenal. They’re not healed yet, but I will update with pictures when they are. There was a little bit of confusion about the pricing, but in the future, we now know to ask more clearly . Long story short, I would 100% go back here. We were also given chicken wings and burgers, which were so delicious, I’m gonna need to know where they got them lol

Great Experience. My partner and I came in to get matching tattoos and Matias took care of us. He did an amazing job and made my partner feel comfortable when it came to communicating with him in Spanish. We loved the tattoos. We definitely recommend this amazing tattoo shop. Thumbs up!!

I got my first tattoo at 50 years old by Ian at the Curly Wolf Tattoo Club. I am not a fan of people getting that close or touching me so that always held me back. I have friends that are artists and tattoo for a living but never felt compelled or comfortable enough to get one done.After seeing his artwork I was extremely impressed and it fit my style. We had a conversation about doing one and his approach put me at ease. I now have 8 of his works of art tattooed on me and he will be the only one who will ever tattoo me. My girlfriend and daughter also sport his truly amazing art.FTW

Sean does amazing work! Very skillful and everything I’ve had done by him always heals great even my fingers which is a tough area he’s able to pack in lots of detail in small areas and make them last. He also has his own unique style which is very well known. If you see one of his designs on the street you can instantly tell it’s his awesome work! Get off the couch and book him now!

This is a very professional, accepting, and welcoming tattoo shop. As soon as I walked into The Curly Wolf tattoo shop i felt a warmth of positive energy. the shop is the cutest, and being welcome by Ian’s pug , frank, was the best part. Ian made my boyfriend and I feel very comfortable and did my tattoo better then i had wanted it! extremely satisfied with my tattoo and my experience and hope to visit New York again so I can stop back by this shop!

Always a superb experience at the Curly. I get all my tattoos from Sharky and he never disappoints. Clean, professional and gets your tattoo done in the blink of an eye. He ain’t hard to look at either, if u know what I mean. Frank the shop manager is like a dog with a bone, tenaciously keeping the place running smoothly day in and day out. If you’re looking for a piercing, Erin is your girl. She did my nose about 6 months ago and it healed up perfectly (despite my *slightly* less than perfect adherence to her aftercare instructions). Head to the Curly Wolf and ask for Sharky !! You won’t regret it!

I was having trouble with newly pierced snakebites (I got them pierced elsewhere), the bars were too short and one side was embedded. Went and saw Erin, she made me feel comfortable and was very knowledgeable, she changed the jewelry for me as quick and low-pain as possible. I’ve definitely found my new piercer! Also just a really cool and sweet person in general!!!

Erin does amazing work! Got my lobes and nose pierced and she was so kind and considerate. 100% recommend if you’re a first timer that is nervous!

I’ve been getting tattoos most of my adult life and until I met Ian and Shaun “Sharky” at curly Wolf I didn’t realize what I was missing. Sharky and I sat down conceptualized, designed and created my sleeve, from raw thoughts to his iPad to my skin. We started April 3rd 2022 and finished a full sleeve April 20th Start to finish two and a half sessions. His speed consistency and delicate touch made the experience worth every penny. I’ve received over a dozen tattoos from Sharky and everyone better than the last. If you’re in the market for a tattoo stop in mention my name and you’ll be in good hands. It’s a big deal getting ink from Someone as you’re connected for life and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The guys at curly wolf are family now.

Curly wolf tattoo club is top notch. Ive been in, and previously worked as an artist in the tattoo scene for 2 decades. As a female bodied person, I have never walked into a shop and felt so comfortable in a studio. The place is spotless, design is professional, intimate and cozy. There is wit sprinkled all over the place, something interesting in each corner. The coke machine despensed the best damn sprite i have ever had. Frank the shop manager is a real gem. He welcomes everyone that enters with warm wags, and well wishes. He is attentive and puts clients at ease. Its clear he runs a tight ship.The Artists I have met are nothing short of true gentlemen. Professional, kind, knowledgeable and funny as all hell. From apprentice to owner the talent is outstanding and process is efficiant. These guys care about their clients, their work, and seemingly each other. Each tattoo experience, is customized to the induvidual in the chair. Ian the owner is a one of a kind dude. I feel like we instantly clicked both being dog 🐶 people. It would be good to see more shop owners treat their clients and artists the way Ian does. In my opinion this place sets the bar for Tattooing in the capital district. Artist Josh Riley whom I get tattooed by at Curly wolf, is one of the cleanest, tightest most versatile artists tattooing out there right now. You better hurry up and book with him before he actually realizes it and you cant afford him anymore lol. Im proud and honored to wear his art work. Josh and Ian tattoo intuitively, are able to read their clients thresholds and keep the tattoo exsperience as comfortable as possible. Bonus points for it being one of the only shops open late night. Parking can be a pain, but its albany you should expect that lol! Definitely coming in again!

I’ve gotten 2 tattoos done by Ian in the past 2 years and he does an amazing job. He works HARD and you can tell he really loves his craft. His shop is welcoming and super nice. I’ve gotten tattoos in the past from other people but now I won’t go anywhere else. :)

This shop is hands down the best experience when i comes to getting a tattoo, Ian is extremely skilled and his knowledge shows. When you present a tattoo he isn’t like every generic tattoo artist by throwing the picture in the stencil machine and slapping it on you. He works with what your looking for out of the tattoo and the placement and modifies your idea to make sure it contours to your body and flows flawlessly. I’d never go anywhere again. Trulyone of a kind ink.

Tattooed by Josh Mosh, had a great tattoo experience. He fit me and my friend in on a late night walk in, and did a great job, was clean, and professional. Two stars because the owner (Ian) of the shop made incredibly unprofessional and inappropriate comments about his last client of the night as soon as she walked out. Absolutely unprofessional and something you would never want to hear come out of your artists mouth after trusting them with your body. Josh was great, and I wish I could give a good review, but those comments made by the owner were awful, unprofessional, and I will not be supporting or trusting this business any longer. A true artist would respect their clients, who trust them to permanently modify their body, whether the clients are in the room or not!

Ian is a great artist. Shop is in great location with parking in back. Really comfortable spot to get a tattoo: TV with every single streaming option, food delivery, window to look out of etc. And ultimately, the art is what matters and Ian and his staff are excellent and professional artists at a fair price.

Clean space. Professional atmosphere. Wife and I have multiple tattoos from Ian and are very happy every time. 10/10

Unreliable and unprofessional. When confronted about the unproffesionalism the employee tried to fight me and two other employees acted like they didn’t hear what was going on. Which to me makes them complicit. 100% wouldn’t reccomend.
