Best tattoo shop in Ann Arbor and some of the most talented artists in the country.Multiple times I’ve been in the shop, there are people from all across the US (and world) who have traveled hours to hangout and get a Name Brand Tattoo.Can’t recommend highly enough. I have been tattooed by most everybody at Name Brand and every experience has been better than the last.Artists at the shop are extremely courteous and welcoming to clients, and the experience of getting tattooed and choosing a design you’re happy with is seamless and engaging.These artists truly care about the people they’re serving and their work is worth every penny spent.Can’t wait to come back again!

Just got my first tattoo here. Love it! The tattoo turned out great and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The artist I worked with, Paul, it was very talented and understanding as he walked me through the process.

It was my first time getting a tattoo and I was really nervous but Paul did an absolutely amazing job at walking me through the steps and easing my nerves. He also designed exactly what I had had in mind for the tattoo, I had little to no edits! The execution was perfect as well and I am beyond thrilled with the experience and the tattoo. I would absolutely recommend Name Brand and especially Paul Jamison.

Theres no better shop. Every single artist here is a master of the craft with a distinct style of their own, and yet everyone comes together into a cohesive family. Vibes are always great, art is great. To exist is a gift, but to exist in the same world as Name Brand is even better. Happy 25 years you guys

Great experience here in general, specifically with my artist, John. Such a nice guy who does extraordinary work! I had a very fine line tattoo done that I’d envisioned for years and he executed exactly how I’d always imagined. Such a talented artist. He was more than accommodating and really took extra steps to ensure this was exactly what I wanted. Pricing is not bad. Currently healing very well and quickly, too. The studio was very peaceful, clean, and welcoming. Would 100% recommend coming here for a tattoo. Thanks for a great experience!

Just got my second tattoo at Name Brand Tattoo and I will always go back. They are fantastic - welcoming, creative, clean, and so, so knowledgeable about their craft.John, specifically, has been my artist both times I’ve visited. Each time he’s counseled me on size and placement (especially with regards to how the tattoos will age), and I’m really glad I’ve taken his advice. He’s a true artist and loves what he does. I’m honored to have his designs with me forever!

The shop itself is very warm and inviting, and you can truly tell that everyone who works there wants to make great art and take care of you. it’s very clean as well. i’ve gotten two tattoos with Paul so far, and he has done incredible work on both of them! i genuinely, truly could not be happier with the results ive gotten here!

Just got another tattoo from Pat at Name Brand Tattoo! He knocked it out of the park this time as I had given something I wanted but I requested for him to put his own spin on it…it turned out amazing! I just got my first tattoo at Name Brand, Paul did mine and was fantastic! I had a specific request and he was super helpful and worked with me to figure out the best way to get it done. Cannot reccomened Paul enough! A great price and fantastic art.

Emailed the artist Jeff to schedule a consultation to discuss a tattoo. Never bothered to reply, even after a follow up email was sent. A simple, “I’m too busy for that right now” would have sufficed.Addendum:Google wont let me respond. I appreciate the response. As a suggestion, I would have an auto response stating as much so people aren’t left to wonder if emails have been received.Thanks.Noah

I reached out to NBT via email and they matched me with Pat. Couldn’t be happier with my experience.I was a little nervous because I’ve been purposely seeing exclusively female artists after a bad experience when I was young and inexperienced with being tattooed.Pat is kind, professional, and lovely to chat with. Very positive, friendly demeanor. He was v considerate of my comfort with the exposed area of my body (my booty cheek).The shop is clean and gives that street shop vibe that most places don’t have anymore. Along with that, they get a lot of walk-ins, so I’d recommend making an appointment if you’re tight on time.Even then, you may have a wait. It’s hard to stay on time throughout the day with walk-ins. There are a lot of elements out of their control, so try to plan appropriately and give grace when it’s needed.

Went here for the first time to get a tattoo done, it was amazing experience, my tattoo artist was great, definitely recommend Paul , very professional, definitely recommend going here. Will be going here to get future tattoo work done.

I had a cover up tattoo done today by Paul Jamison. The tattoo is so utterly gorgeous I completely forgot that I was there to get a cover up. Already booked my second tattoo with Paul for January and I cannot wait!!

Tomek is the best! I have gotten four tattoos from him and I would not go to anyone else. He listens to design ideas and offers excellent insights. Each tattoo has been even better than I could have hoped for and I constantly get compliments on his work. Its like having works of art on my body. Every experience has been amazing. If I could rate him higher I would!

Deserves more than 5 stars!I was looking for a large piece of work to go around a previous tattoo and I also wanted to find a shop that had been around for a long time in Ann Arbor. I found John MacIntyres work at Name Brands website and knew immediately that his style was what I wanted. After a consultation visit he started the work and I was absolutely blown away at his talent and experience. The shop itself is very clean and the rest of the staff that I met seem to all be great people. It has that great Ann Arbor vibe that I discovered growing up in that town many years ago. Our first session was about 4 hours and Ill be returning in a few weeks to complete the shading. I had a wonderful experience there at NBT and Im sure you will too. Thanks again Name Brand Tattoo!!!

Paul Jamison did a great job! He makes you feel comfortable and is very professional. He goes above and beyond and has a great eye for detail. 10/10 would and will come back.

One of my favorite places to get tattooed. I have received several pieces from various artists and I’m impressed by each one. Most recently, I picked a jaguar from Zuck’s sketchbook. It’s bright and distinctive and I couldn’t be happier with it. This place is filled with professional artists who delivery high caliber work every time.

One of the artists insists on altering art that clients bring in, refuses to use our art. And if you’re wanting to cover scars I wouldn’t do it here, as one of the artists thinks scars are ugly, and NEED to be covered.

My experience at Name Brand Tattoo was excellent, thanks in large part to my incredible artist, Paul Jamison! My family and I booked Paul for a family tattoo session and 3 out of 4 of us were getting our first tattoos. Paul listened well to our ideas and took his time working with us to bring to life what each of us had in mind. He is a true artist and incredibly talented. He was patient with everyone’s first-tattoo jitters and just an overall pleasure to be around throughout the process. I had to delay my original appointment due to illness and he was really flexible and easy to get in touch with about rescheduling. I am beyond happy with how my tattoo turned out (bouquet of birth flowers) and would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a professional tattoo experience.

We went for family tattoos (4 of us) and were so fortunate to have Paul Jamison as our artist. This was the first tattoo for 3 of us and he took so much time making sure we were completely comfortable. He spent a lot of time listening to what we wanted and then his amazing artistic talent, made it happen. We are all thrilled with the final result and would go back to Paul in a heartbeat. All of this and he’s just a helluva nice guy too.

Just got my first tattoo done here! I had a great experience from the design process to the actual tattooing process to wrapping it up! Paul Jamison did a great job helping me find a design that is perfect for what I was imagining and was very patient with me when I was nervous at the beginning! Definitely recommend!

Walking in, I was a little worried that their style wouldn’t match up with what I wanted. However, I talked with my tattoo artist, Pat, and worked together to get the design just as I wanted. He was very nice and eased my worries, I was nervous as this was my first tattoo. I will definitely be back in the future!

I cannot experience in words my insane satisfaction with Name Brand Tattoo. To start, I was late, and they were still able to fit me in without a single complaint. Not only is it a very professional and clean atmosphere, but it is extremely welcoming and calming. As a person who gets very faint around needles I felt extremely comfortable throughout my entire experience, and Craig, the artist who did my tattoo, was very kind. And of course, the tattoo came out absolutely wonderful! I literally couldnt be happier- it was an even better version than my vision. Not once did I feel rushed or unwanted, and the many talented works of art surrounding me kept me entertained! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for talented artists, good people, and a great business. Hope to see you again soon!

Awesome shop! Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is very laid back and you’ve got some amazing artists working there. I got a tattoo from Jeff and had a great time, it felt more like a hang out session than a tattoo session. Will definitely be back!

My two sisters and I had a bonding experience and our first tattoo today at Name Brand Tattoo. It was a happening place, very busy and interesting. Also, clean. We were treated very respectfully and everything carefully explained to us. We love our unique rune tattoo that we found online and Pat, our artist incorporated. He was very kind and made us feel at ease and safe. Everyone was friendly and appeared that all of the artists do quality work.

Was able to get a very last minute tattoo due to some cancelations. Pat was able to get me in, and do a beautiful job. Everyone in the shop was so friendly, professional and accommodating. Pat took my original design and added what would make it better to make a tattoo vs paper art. I have and will continue to recommend this shop to anyone looking for a tattoo. I love Name Brand Tattoo. I have been tattooed by two artists, Jeff and Nick. Each tattooist is amazing at what they do but they also made me feel comfortable and welcome. They explained things clearly and checked in with me often to be sure I didnt have any questions or concerns. Ive come back to the shop many times and have had excellent experiences. Name Brand Tattoo is the shop I recommend when someone asks me where should I go to get the best work done.

John is my tattoo artist and he is amazing! I now have had 4 tattoos done by John and hes obviously good at what he does because I keep coming back! He has always been timely and very detailed with his work. I had a few of my tattoos done in personal places but John always made me feel comfortable. We laugh and talked about everything under the sun, considering that talking is sort of a coping mechanism for pain when getting a tattoo. Anytime I would get quiet, he would make sure I was OK! All in all, John is a personable man and extremely great at what he does. Also, the other tattoo artists that was there while I was there was great as well. They actually engaged in conversation with me and gave me their opinion when needed. For a while, name brand tattoo definitely was becoming my second home! I will forever go here for my tattoos from now on, thank you name brand tattoo!

I absolutely love Name Brand. I got my first tattoo here (along with many others since). The shop is welcoming, and very personable. I have known the owners for almost 11 years now and they have worked so hard to create such an amazing and clean business.They employ talented artists, they are all inclusive, free of judgement & body shaming. They encourage creativity, and kind words. Over the years they have become like a second family to me, and I will always suggest Name Brand Tattoo as the place to go.

I had my first tattoo done here last year and had a wonderful experience. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they made me feel incredibly welcomed.This last set of tattoos discouraged me a bit though. I was getting two tattoos done by Nick Melody (who did my first tattoo, phenomenal work). That day he showed up a little late, spoke to another customer and did not speak to me until fifteen minutes after my appointment time. I made my appointment last minute and did not have the chance to send him my artwork ideas until that morning so I wasn’t too bothered by it. What did bother me was the fact that I had two words of text and three small asterisk like stars for each tattoo and it took nearly 45 minutes for everything to be laid out. In this time, another artist took a walk in customer with a similar tattoo idea to mine and had everything laid out and tattooed onto the girl. I was nervous and upset at this point, so I wanted the tattoos to get done. I didn’t pay attention to the fact that the tattoo on my wrist was not centered correctly, and that the stars on my chest piece were on the wrong side. I know I have myself to blame for not saying anything/ realizing, but it’s just disappointing when it’s done wrong when you thought the artist was listening to what you wanted.I would go back, because the other artists are awesome and I’ve seen their work and the way they are with their customers. Maybe my artist was having an off day or something, but I can’t help but be a little upset about how things went yesterday.

Had a great experience with Name Brand Tattoo for my first tattoo recently. Pat did a fantastic job with the design I wanted, let me know what to expect, communicated well, and was altogether very professional. Eight weeks later, Im very pleased with the outcome. I originally emailed the shop to book an appointment. Kerri replied within a day, and with a short exchange of messages we had an appointment ironed out. Highly recommend.

I’ve been going to Name Brand for the past few years getting work and watching the shop evolve. The attitudes the artists have show an emphasis on the collaborative process between artist and customer. Walk ins are handled with the same respect as a larger piece that’s had an appointment. You can tell that the artists are there because they are passionate about sending out a clean tattoo on a smiling customer. The sign you see on your way out even encourages you to check out another local shop to pay your respects. Talk about knowing that you’re standing on the shoulders of the ones who came before you. I’m stoked to have a shop like this in the state, even if it is a 2 hour drive from GR. I always leave with a positive experience and a desire to schedule the next!

Phenomenal curation of artists that push creativity to a whole new level! I’ve gotten a few pieces by various artists here and got nothing but the best service and quality. They made sure I had the best aftercare for my tattoo making healing an absolute breeze. Their shop stands out as one of the most welcoming places that I’ve ever been to.

Coming in getting my first tattoo I was a bit nervous but John was so helpful and made me feel comfortable during the appointment. The fine line tattoo he did for me was great and exactly what I was hoping for.

Last year I looked for an artist that could work cleanly and precisely in black and white. I had an image of a heart and initials of my sons name that were all drawn by him. The work I was drawn to was mainly from the traditional work I had viewed online from Name Brand Tattoo. I picked a few artists and Nick Melody had an opening that fit my schedule. The shop was cleaning and friendly. Nick was a pro who was easy to talk to and was willing to work through the size and position of the artwork I gave him. I will definitely go back to Name Brand again.

Nothing but great things to say about Name Brand. Jeff is an amazing artist, and a great guy. The staff is friendly anve very welcoming. Everyone has an honest passion for their work there, and it shows.I really liked the family atmosphere there. People came and went throughout each of my sessions, just dropping in to chat and see what sort of work was being done and say hello to whoever was in the chairI think that, along with the outstanding work they do, explains why people are willing to wait months to get in. So glad I found Name Brand tattoo, Kerri set me up with Patrick Schreader! For my first tattoo and it turned out amazing! Patrick takes his time and is professional with his work! He makes you feel welcome and comfortable while he draws and prepares for your tattoo. Since my first tattoo with Patrick I’ve scheduled another visit to touch up my cross. He absolutely nailed it! My cross looks more vibrant and meaningful! I’m very happy with name brand tattoo and Patrick Schreader for his skills and the environment there is great! Everyone is so helpful and really show there passion in the art of tattoos! Thanks soo much !

My experience with Name Brand was below par at best. Firstly, I scheduled a tattoo on my hand 2 weeks prior to the appt. even sent in an example for which i was approved. I arrived after the two weeks and waited about 45 minutes to then be rescheduled another week later because the “lines on the example i gave were too close together” clearly something that could’ve been emailed to me instead of wasting my time and gas. Then, after changing the design, my tattooist Pat started the tattoo without quoting me a price first. Pat was consistently passive aggressive with me throughout this whole process and he also had to replace the stencil 3 different times onto my forearm. The total he quoted for me was $150 minus the first $60 charge which should come out to $90 after the tattoo, but after reviewing my bank notice he had charged me $100. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Name Brand Tattoo.(edit) I should add that it was not my tattooist who had suggested replacing the stencil a number of times, each time the stencil was placed it was clearly off center. Even now looking at the tattoo it still couldve been moved a little to the right on my forearm.

It was a last minute trip John worked me in and I couldnt be happier. The shop was super clean and very friendly. the decor even tho not important was really cool. I gave John a ideal of what I wanted and he ran with it. Great conversation while I was getting inked and even took a photo of a old tat I had done 40 years ago. Really made me feel good! Huge thanks and....GO BLUE!!

I called 2 other tattoo parlors in Ann Arbor, lucky Monkey and Authentic, and they were so rude to me that I decided to make one last call. It was so nice to hear a kind voice answer the phone, he was cool and relaxed and seemed interested in what I wanted done. Told me to come in and when I did he drew up a gorgeous tree for me and did amazing work. Go here! They show serious respect and are amazing artists!

I had a tattoo done at one of the other shops in Ann Arbor. Needless to say I was less than happy with the outcome and called them to try to set something up to fix the issue with no return phone calls or e-mails. Due to the issues I had with the other shop I decided to give Name Brand an e-mail to see if they could help me. Keri was very helpful in getting me set up with an artist that corrected the issue that the other shop refused to call me back about. Nick did an amazing job at creating a design the fix the issue. I was very happy with the whole experience, including the cost. My wife and I will no longer be using the other shop and are proud to call Name Brand Tattoo our new shop.

I cant recommend this place enough. I just moved to the area and had trouble getting responses from other shops as they were all busy. Kerri at Name Brand Tattoo got right back to me and set me up with Pat based on what I wanted. Pat was able to take a rather abstract idea and turn it into something better than I could have imagined. This is the best parlor in town. At this point I’ve done 3 pieces with this same artist there and I’m scheduled for my 4th! They are extremely professional, clean and have a wide variety of artists. Every time they make sure it’s exactly what I want before doing it. I’ve had work done other places and left unamused, never once from name brand. PS. super legit!

I had an incomplete tattoo that I wanted to completely transform but had no idea how to do so. I chose Name Brand based off of the artwork displayed on their website, it showed that any artist there would be able to help me with my issue. I made an appointment with Daaron, he created a way to tie my incomplete tattoo together to make it look cohesive, beautiful, and new. He was helpful, and very talented. By far my best experience with getting a tattoo. I will be returning to him specifically for any future work.

I went in to make an appointment and was able to be seen within the next few days. The shop is very clean and the prices are fair. My artist was Tomek and he did a very good job at making me feel welcome and comfortable since it was my first time in a tattoo shop. Would recommend to all of my friends.

I walked in and they seemed very nice as I sat down! I was approached by one woman who was extremely awkward and standoff-ish, and then was told that they didn’t do tattoos on or around the hands for people who didn’t already have them. She then was perplexed trying to explain their hours of business to me. Bad service! I went to another tattoo shop in Ann Arbor who was more than happy to provide what I wanted, and made it much easier!

Name Brand Tattoo is an upstanding establishment. Ive gotten most of my pieces done there, and it has been my go to for about 3 years now. The artwork is traditional yet diverse and varietal, the talent is well spread throughout, the shop is clean and tidy, and the service is friendly and professional. Ive yet to find a better place to be tattooed.

Honestly I love my tattoo design; however, I realized my tattoo is upside down. So Im super disappointed. Unfortunately, I have to wait until it heals and get it covered up. You would think a professional would know where to position the tattoo the right way. The guy seemed a bit obnoxious as well. Ive gotten previous tattoos at this location, but this experience was very disappointing.

Id heard so many good things about Name Brand, but I just couldnt get in contact with them. They didnt pick up the phone, respond to emails, or respond on Instagram DMs. I tried to get in contact with them for a good 3-4 weeks and heard nothing back. I understand theyre probably super busy with the pandemic/restrictions, but I wish theyd had the courtesy to at least tell me nobody had any availability instead of leaving me hanging for a month. I dont usually leave reviews but this was really frustrating, and Id like to help other people avoid wasting their time.

Pat did my Tatoo. Pat is a great artist and came up with a design that was better than I had pictured in my mind. Pat is also an amazing person made feel at ease. Pat explained everything every step of the way. I highly recommend Pat.

Nick did a phenomenal job with my tattoo. He made a couple suggestions and knocked it out of the park. It was my first tattoo and helped lighten the mood and joked back. It was a walk-in as well. Great service and amazing tattoo!

The only place I go to get tattooed. Period. Handcrafted is the best way to describe the tattoos that I receive here. What I enjoy most about Name Brand is their culture. The artists here perpetually push their creative boundaries, while holding the highest standards of this sacred tradition. They continually create pieces of art that are forged from a collective consciousness that read like a roadmap, for your souls journey, on your skin.

What a great experience. I booked an appointment with NBT after recommendations from a few of my friends. Tomek took at least 20 minutes researching and drawing up a dogwood tree tattoo based on a sketch that I brought in. He then modified his sketch to my request. When I wasnt happy with the initial placement of the outline, he wiped it off and moved it higher. Being that the tattoo was on my ribs, I couldnt really see what was happening, but they let me have 3 friends there with me for moral support. It hurt like whoa, but Im so happy with the end result. I have no plans for additional tattoos, but I will definitely be recommending Name Brand Tattoo to all of my friends.

I was in with a friend on 2.10.17 and we both saw Tomek Szumiec and the entire experience was absolutely fabulous. The interior is immaculately clean, has a very cool vibe, one of the most inviting shops Ive been in. The girl working the front desk was so nice and very helpful. Tomek is amazing and was clear about what he thought and was willing to do while still working within what I wanted. The stations are bright and open, the music is cool, the other artists and staff were great. I love both of my small pieces so much, they so surpassed my imagination and I could have cried. I am obsessed. I felt very comfortable right away and cant wait to come back to see Tomek for more work. Thank you Name Brand!!

Tomek is the man! I made a same day appointment and was quoted far less than the other shops I visited in the area. This place looks super awesome, the people are cool, the work is top tier, and their rates arent just reasonable they are on point. Simply put this is the best tattoo shop in town hands down.

Really had the worst experience with them as I rescheduled my appointment for Saturday and on the day of my appointment before leaving my home I called the shop and nobody answered the phone and assuming they are closed I didn’t go in person and now they are saying it’s my fault and not their problem the girl was really polite while taking $60 deposit from me but would speak to me so rudely telling me it’s my fault that I didn’t come. If you’re so professional then you should be answering your phones for the heck of a name brand that you have. You cant even have a person to attend calls when you guys are open. Like seriously? Really disappointed with you guys!

Everybody seemed really cool & talented! My artist was John. He did an amazing job and was very chill :) Ill definitely go back again someday!

Name Brand is a GREAT place. Very clean - on time. Craig was awesome and I loved his work. All the staff were very friendly. Cant wait to go back.

Staff was professional and friendly. Definitely recommend going here. A little pricey, but hey, my tattoo looks great and they more than deserve the money.

I went here for my first tattoo and had a wonderful experience - John did my tattoo and he was super friendly and helpful, as was everyone else that I interacted with while I was there. I would absolutely recommend going here

I had a large piece done here 7 years ago. It still looks like new, this place is great. Super clean friendly staff, who really cared about the design they made for me.

Ive gotten a lot of work done by Tomek there. They all have similar styles and a focus on the lifespan of their work. Given how the work I got done 18 years ago looks now, I appreciate that.

Some straight up legendary artists at this place. Youre missing out if youre in Ann Arbor and dont stop in.

The artists here are rude and unprofessional and the owner of the shop will not take action to address the ongoing issues these artists are causing.Go elsewhere.
