I had Steven as my artist! We did such a wonderful job on my mothers day tattoo!! Ive been a long time customer of Spiral Tattoo; 6 out of the 9 tattoos I have have been done by artists at Spiral!!! Already calling to set up an appointment for new ink!

I traveled from the Chicago area to get tattooed by Mike. He is a true professional, quality is excellent. Just booked another. Additionally this shop has a wealth of flash to choose from, ranging from Leos exotic collection, to new paintings made by their artists that are fresh and ready to go. 5 stars for sure.*just got the 2nd and 3rd tattoos done by Mike. Theyre awesome!

I had the bottom front of my neck tattooed by Jared a couple years ago and I had such a delightful time. As far as tattoos can be pleasant. Anyone working there have been so very kind. What a beautiful shop with talented people ♡ What an honor!

Great shop with passionate and talented artists. Jared has done some beautiful tribal filler and Mike did a most powerful back piece for me. If you book with these guys, you certainly will leave your session fulfilled.

Mike absolutely killed my tattoo!!! i called super last minute to see if i could get two tattoos and he was able to see me right away and got me in and out of there. absolutely no complaints and i already have an appointment with him for next week!

Mike was absolutely amazing! He finished my tattoo so quick, I honestly couldnt believe it.My request was a black Betty Boop. I wanted her to be brown skinned in honor of my grandmother and BOYYYYYYYY did he deliver. She has become my favorite tattoo thus far. We talked the entire time and that also helped take my mind off the pain. I cannot commend him enough..Will update when he does my Pink Panther too!! #bettyboop #blackbettyboop

Oh man this is the 2nd time I come here 1st time was about 15 years ago when they used to be in a different location but I am extremely happy, I already scheduled a second tattoo with Alexis.

I can not express enough how much I love this shop. Every artist is extremely talented, welcoming, and lovely to be around. I started getting tattooed by Alexis 3 years ago and will never look back. Her work is clean and she knows how to pack in color! On top of being talented, she is a dream to work with. She truly cares about her clients and has a judgement-free attitude. I look forward to continue my business here and can’t wait for my next session!

Jared at Spiral tattoos is really cool. He specialises in Polynesian tribal tattoo and is very cool to work with. He knows his stuff and ensures the customer gets what they came for.

I love my tattoo artist Alexis, and I really love coming to this shop. Its clean and everyone is so nice. My only issue is that there isnt parking right next to the store, but a little walking doesnt hurt. Im going this weekend to get my sleeve started and I cannot wait. 100% would recommend to anyone wanting a tattoo.Edited: originally posted 2+ years ago.I now have an almost completed sleeve. Alexis has been my artist this entire time. Lack of parking is no longer an issue. Almost 3 years later and I go to Alexis for any tattoo I dont get on a whim (I think theres been 2 she hasnt done since the first posting).

This is my best friends go-to tattoo shop. All the ones she has she’s gotten from Alexis at Spiral. When I went to visit her we went and got our matching tattoos (celebrating, now, 14 years of friendship). We went in and she drew up our tattoo and was very good at communicating with us on some things that she felt needed to be changed. Like the size of it, made sure the style was the one we wanted and drew up a couple of other ones for us to compare and choose which one we liked best.I was nervous about getting it since I’ve only gotten one other tattoo (on my chest/collar bone area) but she made me feel comfortable. I’m very happy with my tattoo and absolutely love the colors. She was able to capture what both my best friend and I had imagined the colors to be. I will definitely be back there next time I visit Ann Arbor.

My mom and I had a mixed experience at this shop.We had said on the phone that we wanted a total of 3 small hearts, and possibly one small line piece. The artist (Steve) said ok, and we arranged to meet at 5.We arrived, only to find out he no longer does finger tattoos. I respect when artists have locations they simply wont do, and furthermore, I respect his personal reasons for doing so

Alexis did an awesome job and was super receptive to what I wanted my piece to look like. She designed part of my tattoo and it looks great--you can check out her style of design on Instagram. She was very welcoming and friendly.

Steve was amazing. I adore the line work and it healed better than any tattoo I have ever gotten. I will be back for any future tattoos. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Called ahead and asked if walk-ins were welcome. They accept them so I grabbed my stuff and went. When I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome and felt completely comfortable there. Everyone there was super cool and honest with their prices. The only downfall is that they do not take cards. They were super cleaned and the guy I had changed his gloves if he touched anything other than the tattoo equipment and my skin. Great music selection was playing and they keep a conversation to make you feel completely comfortable. I will absolutely go back again and loved everyone there!

This place is awesome, amazing staff who are so patient and talented. Went with a friend to get her first tattoo and even though she was pretty nervous, they were super kind and helped talk her through the process and drew out a great design. They even stayed open late for us which was really unexpected. Would definitely recommend!

Amazing!! I got my seventh tattoo last night and I will never go any place else! They were so nice and did such an awesome job. I already have plans to go back. Jared did such a good job. I gave him an idea and he turned it into a master piece!

Walked in yesterday afternoon after I went to brunch in Kerrytown and within a half hour got a fabulous Halloween piece on my calf. Alexis is so sweet and we negotiated a fair price for what we both had in mind. I look forward to going back and getting future work done by her!

Best experience. Michael is incredible, beautiful art. I always go in totally open to what I want and have always ended up with phenomenal art and I receive compliments regularly on how beautiful the work has been done. Great prices and atmosphere too!

After doing quite a bit of research, I decided to get my first tattoo done here. I was really excited after reading such good reviews. However, my experience did not go as I hoped. I received a tattoo by Cole. After he drew up the tattoo for me and made a few of the changes I had requested, I had it done. However, it turned out nothing like my vision or the pictures I had shown him of what I wanted. After leaving, I called to follow up about the tattoo to see what could be done since I was extremely unhappy with it. In the end, Cole said that my changes put too much limitation on him as an artist. I had no idea this was an issue when the tattoo was being drawn up. Clearly, there was a huge lack of communication on his part that he felt my tattoo would not fit his style. He did not even offer to refund me but did offer a free touch up. However, I am not sure why he thinks I would go back to see him for more ink put on my body when he did not communicate with me that he felt like he was not a good match for my tattoo. I would have been more than willing to work with him to find a style that we both liked but instead, I am left with a brand new tattoo that I hate and have to get lasered off. I would never recommend this place to anyone. There should never be a lack of communication between you and someone who is going to leave their art on your body forever.UPDATE: Its been almost two years since this event occurred. I am still in the laser removal process (which I started less than two months after I got the tattoo). Still do not recommend

I had a great experience with Spiral Tattoo and everyone there!I had originally booked an appointment a few months in advance at a different shop located in Ypsilanti. Unfortunately I got a call the morning of my appointment and my artist was sick and unable to tattoo me. I totally understand as these things happen but I was just too eager to wait another few months for an appointment.This was my first tattoo and I was very nervous to go somewhere I was unfamiliar with, but when I called Spiral they said I could walk in and get it that day! since their portfolio on Instagram looks good I headed on over.When I described what I wanted, my artist and the other employees were able to give me suggestions and tips to make my piece last longer and look more vibrant by adding outlines. I was very appreciative of of this information as the shop I was scheduled with previously did not tell me colored ink would not stay well without a black outlineI am just so glad that my artist and the other employees were so helpful and straightforward with making sure I would get the best quality tattoo, even though I wanted such a simple and quick design. I am also a huge wimp when it comes to pain so Im sure tattooing me in general was not easy. So props to Cole for putting up with me! Overall I am glad that my original appointment got canceled and I ended up getting tattooed by Cole at Spiral Tattoo! My paw prints look great and I am sooo sooo happy with them! Thank you for suggesting the black outlines, it looks much better this way!

Having never had a tattoo before, I was a bit nervous, but when I walked In the woman that would eventually tattoo me wwalked down the stairs and helped me immediately. I told her I was thinking of getting my first tattoo and showed her what I wanted. She gave me an estimated price and i returned an hour later (make sure you have cash on you- no credit accepted) She took the picture I provided, scaled it down to size, and created a stencil for my arm. We discussed where and how the tattoo would be placed. She was patient as I considered my options.When I sat down to get my tattoo done, after she meticulously prepared by washing her hands and sterilizing everything (including my arm), I talked nervously. The tattooing process was more warm than painful most of the time and Alexis and I talked about all sorts of thing to keep me distracted. I enjoyed our conversation and before I knew it, my tattoo was finished!She told me how to take care of the tattoo while it healed and answered all of myamy questions, gave me her card which is actually a really cool token like thing with her name on it, I paid and left. I realized shortly after that I didnt tip her what I thought I did (tattoo artists depend on our disposable income. It should be obvious that if you tip a bartender a buck for a beer you should probably tip proportionally for art work on your body$. She thanked me and said so graciously I appreciate anything people give me.Im sure everyone else at the shop is just as welcoming, professional, and enjoyable to talk to as Alexis. The place itself is very calming with low lighting and soft music., as if you were in a place of healing as well as body art. Art covers the walls and artists have books for your perusal of some of their best tattoos.In sum, I would recommend this place to anyone getting a tattoo, whether their first or fiftieth. I’m visiting Michigan for a wedding and decided I neeeeeeded a tattoo (or 2) and Alexis at Spiral Tattoo hooked it up with 2 FANTASTIC Harry Potter pieces for me! She took her time and made sure both stencils looked just right before starting, and was very friends throughout the whole process. I highly recommend Spiral Tattoo and Alexis. Thank you! Spiral always treats me right. I go to Alexis, but each artist brings their A game. Its clean. Friendly. Cute. Well priced. Following covid guidelines strictly. 10/10 would recomend. Always.

Steve did my mountain tattoo. It was my first and so I was a bit nervous but he made me feel more comfortable and did a really great job on the tattoo. I couldnt be happier with it.

One of the best tattoo shops in the region. The shop has gathered a great collection of artists specializing in a variety of styles of tattooing. They do mostly custom work, so you can bring in your ideas and work with the artist to turn those ideas into great tattoos.

I’ve gotten tattoos from both Jared and Mike at Spiral. Both have turned out great, and everyone who works there have been really nice. Highly recommend this place if you want a high quality tattoo.

Fantastic tattoo artists. I highly recommend checking out their instagrams. They are uniquely talented and inspiring individuals who breathe life into ink. I’ve gotten two tattoos from Michael Aul. I’ve had both for several years and they remain as vivid as ever.

Extremely happy with the custom tattoos Ive received from Jared Leathers at Spiral Tattoo over the years. All of the artists at the shop are amazing! Will continue to go back for more and more ink.

I got one tattoo done here and it was good; however, it was a very simple tattoo. I had come back to get another tattoo and they denied me service because it was 7:30pm and they closed at 8:00pm. Even though I told them I only wanted a very small tattoo, which Im sure wouldnt have taken even 30 minutes, the guys there didnt even give me a chance to show them what I wanted to get. The third time, I didnt like how the guys there treated me when I walked in for a consultation. The environment was unwelcoming and the tattoo artists didnt seem to value their customers. Whenever you get a tattoo, you want to make sure the energy is right and they are doing it with pleasure. Never going there again. The customer service is very poor, overall.

I could not be happier with the work that KC did for me at Sprial Tattoo. He is a very talented artist and a great guy. This was my 4th tattoo and it took 3.5 hours. He gets two enthusiastic thumbs up from me!!

I went to Alexis for my turtle tattoo. It was my first tattoo and I was bit nervous but she made me feel more comfortable and the tattoo was fantastic!

KC Angel did an amazing 1/2 sleeve piece with a partial cover-up. They are clean with talented artists, I have seen the quality pieces here, having spent over 30 hours in their chair.

Hands down.... THE place to go for your tattoo. I would skip all other places and go here. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and talented. These guys are what the real world call artists. None of this sticky page and trace - they hand draw right on your body. Now thats pure talent !

Got my 1st tattoo done here by Steve. Hes awesome..I was scared about the pain but it was a lot lesser pain than what I thought. Highly satisfied with my design.

My friend and i got matching tattoos here and we both ended up with blood infections. Two months of agony and three rounds of antibiotics. Do not recommend at all.

Ive been getting tattoos done by a few artists, 8 years straight, and I havent gotten a bad compliment on my tattoos. I enjoy them as well!
