Had an amazing experience here getting my first tattoo. They drew the design I brought to them perfectly and tattooed it just the same. It’s an unforgettable and unique shop with so much to offer. I’d 10/10 recommend and definitely go back for more

I made an appointment online for the next day to get my navel pierced (appointments not require- but call ahead!) and was able to go in earlier as it fit my schedule better. They were very accommodating and knowledgable throughout the entire process. I was able to go through every jewelry option available to make sure I got the perfect one. The place was very clean, organized and informative about the aftercare and I ended up getting a bottle of their piercing oil. 10/10 will be going back for all future piercings!!

I came in today to get a navel piercing. I absolutely love it. The owner was super friendly and very knowledgeable. Another thing I really loved was how clean they were. They made sure the piecing I want to use was sterilized properly with there special equipment. I will definitely be coming back with some tattoos next. 10/10 would recommend.Update… I’ve had the piercing for a couple weeks now and it’s healing super well. I would definitely recommend the oil that he sells. That stuff is magic!

Took my 14 year old daughter in to get her first ear piercings. It was great! Very friendly and welcoming! They made her feel comfortable and safe as she was nervous. They did a great job of educating her on the piercing itself and aftercare. They made this experience for her one she won’t forget. I highly recommend

I’m a very picky person when it comes to tattoos. i’m always super skeptical when it comes to going to a new place that i’ve never been. Captain not only did a fantastic job on my tattoo but was able to make conversation and jokes so funny i almost forgot i was getting tattooed. The environment was beyond cool, felt like i was just chilling at a buddies house, only difference is that the tattoos came out sick. the price was well worth the result, captain even made a massive effort to not break my bank. can’t say enough good stuff about this place and will definitely go back for more.

I brought my daughter here for a helix piercing. Captain ended up doing it. The shop was welcoming and clean and had really cool decorations. My daughter wanted this piercing very badly but she was initially scared and super nervous. Captain was able to walk her through the entire process and also encouraged her so she was able to calm down and trust the process. Both people in the shop are very knowledgeable and friendly. We never felt out of place. Overall 10\10. For inquiring minds my daughter said her piercing was nearly painless and she would even rate this experience highly and positively. She loves her new piercing so much that I am posting a photo.

Very professional and accommodating. Captain and Alex smoothly and efficiently pierced my eyebrow, exactly like I asked. The Atmosphere was amazing. I felt safe, conversation came easily and Ill be back when Im ready to talk ink.

At first, the pricing seemed expensive, but when I got there, all the staff were absolutely amazing, and anyone who works there had to be licensed, so it’s 100% professional. I got a belly piercing that at first seemed expensive, but they let you pick out any ring you want and they had like 10 options, so it was pretty cool. All the options and different holograms that didn’t up the price. They took great care of me, and I would definitely rate it 5 stars! I would recommend going here because of the great care they provide, the options to pick, and all the workers are licensed! It’s a great atmosphere to be in! I didn’t feel sketched out, and I had no doubts that it was going to go badly! 🙂

Went there today with my gals from work. Two of us wanted to get our daith pierced, we both get migraines. The shop is clean, artistic, and the staff is down to earth. Captain is very knowledgeable and informative about tattoos and piercings. He made us all feel comfortable and is very personable. I cannot wait to get some ink from him in the near future! Highly recommend!

I discovered Sailors Den while looking for a Tattoo & Piercing place to pierce my 15-year-old granddaughter’s ear. The staff was terrific and explained everything along the way. Everything was clean, and you could tell they took sanitization seriously! I am so happy we went there, and I highly recommend this place to everyone! They sell piercing jewelry at great prices, too!

I’m sitting here, for the first time in years, with earrings in that don’t hurt, bleed, or have swollen up. Justin was kind, knowledgeable, and it didn’t hurt AT ALL. Captain loved my idea for a tattoo and we talked for quite awhile. Clean. Friendly. Affordable. I can’t recommend Justin and Captain enough. 5/5 stars!!

I initially went in for some info on getting a daith piercing Id been wanting for a while, but Captain made me feel so at ease I went ahead and got it. No pressure, talked me through everything, and was adamant about reaching out with any questions or concerns. Hes so personable and you can tell he really cares about his clients and his craft. I love my first tattoo! I had my tattoo done by Shey. She was so sweet and kind to me, and helped me understand every step of the tattoo. She never had me doubting her skills in tattooing, and listened to everything that I wanted, and looked at some of my inspiration pics. She had even asked and added a few artistic details to my tattoo to make it look even more of what I wanted, and make it look cooler and less boring than what it originally was going to be. Making sure that everything was done professionally by showing me her unopened packaged needles that were sterilized. And just talking through with me ever step of the process and making sure everything was how I wanted it to be. Even giving me all the tips on how to take care of it, and answering any questions I had on what to use and what to do. Not only that, but the layout of the parlor was so inviting and cool. And really matched the name of the parlor. The art on the wall, the cool lighting, Sailor himself, and the bands and singers that came in while getting my tattoo just made the whole experience of the place feel really inviting and cool to be in. I am so happy that The Sailors Den was the place to get my first, and probably, of many tattoos! Would recommend to anyone for looking for a tattoo or getting a piercing.

I had the best experience one could have at a tattoo parlor. Captain took awesome pride in what he did and I got the best tattoo I could ask for. I gave him a name and he ran with it and made it unique to me. As he’s talking with me during the tattoo he’s getting to know me and acted as real “ink therapy”. I’m beyond happy with the outcome and I’ll for sure be back for touch ups on my other tattoos and a cover up and more work in the future. Family oriented and beyond a chill environment.

Amazing staff, my artist Jorge did an incredible job and I honestly can’t be happier with it! Only tattoo spot I know in Chattanooga hooking up select veterans on Veteran’s Day with a 100% free tattoo. Clean and professional every where you look, with an incredibly friendly atmosphere! I went in with an inflamed nose piercing (WAS PIERCED AT A DIFFERENT SHOP) and he tried to change my jewelry and set me up with the proper care to allow my nose to heal so I can have it re-done. Went for a second lobe piercing a couple of months ago. Didn’t have any problems the lady squeezed us in and checked up on a piercing that’s developing a keloid and gave me advice on how to make it go away. Was a little expensive but I’m scared of a needle gun damaging my ear.

I got these koi fish done on my inner forearm and Captain did an amazing job it’s exactly what I was looking to get and he is really nice. The shop looks really cool on the inside and the front desk are very friendly :)

Dude did a really good job I appreciate it nice and fast service, and made sure you knew how to take care of whatever you got until it heals and has very good medicine that works well to speed up the healing process worth the extra cash .

This was my first time in The Sailors Den.The Captain completely changed my arm, and did such an amazing job. This place has a great atmosphere with great people and untouchable talent. Got to meet this crew during a wedding! They were doing an event where you got to choose a flash tattoo for free. I had a really cool and easy experience with a new artist named Jorge. He did a wonderful job under strong guidance and encouragement from the other tattoo artists. The vibes were fantastic and I highly recommend them for your next tattoo!

I searched for a couple of years for an artist to do my sleeve, I had many say they would and ask me to send them my ideas then to never hear back from them. Then.....I met Captain!! Shey is a wonderful artist and I cant express it enough. I came in for my first two tattoos (one of them being a memorial piece) and she blew them out of the water! They turned out so beautiful. Okay, so I met this crew tonight and let me tell you.... this is the kind of energy you want in the shop when you sit down for a session. This isnt your average shop. After a couple words, you know these folks care. And not just about the clients, Ive seen a level of genuine care from Captain towards his crew that all shop owners should take notes on. I received a tattoo from an apprentice named George (one of his first ever actually) that is so far superior to any truly fresh rookie I have come across. I mean Im stoked to see where he goes from here. Like any other business, the team morale and workplace environment stems from the top and can make or break a business. Captains genuine care and desire to see motivated and talented artists thrive really makes this a unique experience that I highly recommemd checking out. Its really difficult to put the vibe into words so go experience it for yourself!

The first time I went to Sailors den was to get my daughters nose pierced Shea did an awesome job. I also go a piercing. The next time was to get a tattoo. Which I love! So go see Shakespeare at sailors den! He is the best! Also, this is the best shop! Everyone that works there is so nice. You can tell they really love what they do. They also have shows and do all sorts of cool things there.

Absolutely AMAZING! I just went in to get my ears pierced after a rough experience at a different tattoo shop, and everyone was so so lovely. I’m trying to think of little things I can get pierced just to go back and see them. Can’t recommend them enough, especially as someone with severe anxiety. So so sweet and patient.

This has been my 3rd time getting a tattoo and by far this is the best location Ive ever been to. Captain and his crew make everyone feel so welcomed and theyre the nicest artist Ive ever met. The vibe there is otherworldly and a must see for yourself type of deal. Bryan did my Fullmetal alchemist tattoo and it turned out superb. Theyre real knowledgeable about what can and cant be done and are honest about their work here. 10/10 would recommend again.

The Captain and his sailors are great! Immediately when you walk in theres a great vibe and you can immediantly tell everyone is enjoying what they do for a living which is an amazing vibe to see when its genuine. Captain killed it at my shoulder piece and took my criticism to changes on the design very well and was still able to make it his own style and creation. I just got my 2nd tattoo with the shop and its with Shey! This girl has some of the best line work Ive seen and shes pleasant company to be around while your in the chair. To say it simply... IM IMPRESSED! Id recommend this shop to anyone.

Me and my best friend visited the sailors den looking for a great environment to get both of our septum piercings done and we found a great place here. I had the best conversation with the owner and I love the energy and the way they go about their business. Ill definitely become a regular :))

Ill give one extra star since you do have some good apprentices for as long as you can keep them around. I got tattooed here in 2022, and I like my tattoo. Its a small, simple flash piece done by an apprentice. After attending a few events and meeting/interacting with the shops owner, I wont be within 50 yards of the place.The quality of work you can expect is going to be hit or miss--the hits arent great and the misses are laser-worthy. Before you go, know that the majority of the artists in the shop are apprentices and the man training them is not a great artist.Go elsewhere; there are SO many quality shops that outshine this one by a mile.

I had to have my ears pierced again due to them being done incorrectly the first time several years ago, the technician that helped me was not only professional but quite personable and she even explained why my piercing went wrong the time before and she used this knowledge to ensure that my ears would heal perfectly. 2 months later I am a very happy customer that intends to return for more piercings in the future! Definitely a 5 star experience.

Captain was amazing!!! He did a facial dermal for me and thoroughly explained the entire process from start to finish.I felt super comfortable and safe in the environment!! Every one was super laid back and sweet. They all fully hyped me up after the piercing was finished. I will for sure be back!!!

Shey was great! She was very knowledgeable and calming. She answered all of our questions patiently and explained the process of what she was doing. She explained how to care for the piercings and gave us a business card in case we had questions in the future.

My piercing was hella crooked and he had to pull the needle out and reinsert it because he couldn’t get it though and the left side of my noses piercing hole was huge not to mention 90$ for a piercing is so expensive for it not to even be done right and it continued to bleed til the next day I had to go get it taken out by a different professional and cleaned up

The Captain and Averie both worked on fixing some of my old tattoos . I got three new ones after seeing how good their work was. They explained everything well, are very knowledgeable about skin care and how tattoos change over time. They gave me very good advice on my new ones. Averie went out of her way on more than one occasion to accommodate my schedule and worked very hard. My new tattoos are the best ones I have ever had done. I now have almost a full right sleeve thanks to her designs and dedication. I will be back for more.

I pulled my truck into the parking lot before The Sailors Den like a pirate steering his vessel from a storm into a safe harbor. I immediately felt at home and comfortable with the staff and my tattoo artist Shakespeare did wonders with a single needle. I appreciated the conversation and the cold bottle of water I swilled like rum under a hot island sun. Hopefully the stars will guide me back again.

I was really blown away with the music venue setup these guys have put together! The owner is completely DIYing the lighting and considering it isnt anything hes ever done professionally, its extremely impressive. Thats coming from a person that does lighting/sound/video/stage for a living. These guys are putting all the right effort into it, and I cant wait to see how they grow!

I had an appointment and came in a little early to make sure I had time to fill out the paperwork. As soon as I got there, my lovely artist Shey sat down and started talking out my tattoo with me and really listened to what I liked about the inspo pic I showed!! She was clear and honest about what was and wasn’t possible with what I was looking for, sizing that would be necessary with the detail I was looking for, and things that I hadn’t thought of such as overhang because of the placement, transparency about what size needle she was using, AND she even took out her sterile products in front of me for extra reassurance of cleanliness ! I have 3 other tattoos from all over the country and I promise this was the most comfortable and kind experience ever! I’m not a big piece type of person and have often been made to feel awkward or insecure at other shops asking for my nature inspired fine line tattoos, but Shey and the rest of the artists at The Sailor’s Den supported my preferences and vision! I left feeling like a rockstar!! I’m not from Chattanooga, but I will definitely be hitting this place up when I come back!!!

He got one of the get what you get tattoos out of the machine and I got my septum pierced! 10/10 recommend! Ill be back next week to get other things pierced. If theres ever anything you thought you might want but cant decide, this is the place! Just do it! You wont regret it!

I got my first piercing here recently. It was a septum piercing done by Cayci with some help from Shey. Cayci did it as quickly and painlessly as possible and Shey helped find where to pierce and helped when I was feeling kind of faint afterwards. They did excellent work and I’m really happy with what I got.

I walked in for a tragus piercing with Lex. He was personable and professional. He explained how the piercing would go and what to expect with healing. Next piercing will be with him.

One of my partners and I came to this shop for a couple of flash tattoos, and it was one of the best decisions ever! Every single one of the people in the shop were so inviting, so sweet and talkative (in the best way). I’ll definitely return, and recommend all of my friends here!

I have been going to Captain for a few years now. The only place I will go for any of my ink. My most recent was a tennis racket in memory of my daddy and Shakespeare actually did this one instead of Captain. Turned out perfect and is my favorite tat I have.

I have been getting work done by Captain for going on 4 years now. He never ceases to amaze me with the quality of work and respectful nature he carries. Absolutely recommend.

The captain himself has worked on me multiple times, as well as apprentices. I got better work from the apprentices. My most recent piece that I got about a month ago has multiple blow outs and shotty linework. Pictures for reference.Editing to add that Im unsure what me having worked there has to do with the bad linework in my tattoo that was done by the owner. If anything you would think that you would try to do your best on pieces that are going to be seen in your shop every day, but maybe thats just me. Regardless, the work was bad and Im having to have it fixed elsewhere.
