Alicia was amazing! I walked in with no appointment and got a single ear piercing, the first one by an actual piercer and not a Claire’s. What a world of difference. Alicia made me feel comfortable and heard. The pain dissipated within a day and now a few days later the piercing feels great. Can’t say thanks enough!

I got my first ever tattoo with Michael. He is so friendly and gentle. He listens to what I want, and communicates with me of ideas. My hubby also got his tattoos from Michael, and he loves them so much!! I highly recommend Michael, and I am planning to get more!

Went there yesterday for a quote on a tattoo. Met Michael Tofano and he gave me a great quote and said he could fit me in right then if I wanted. Got the tattoo and it’s one of my favorites I’ve ever gotten. Michael is incredible and very friendly through the whole experience. I highly recommend this place. Clean shop. Very respectful and friendly. Everyone there seems great.

Did a walk-in for ear piercings, and Ali did a great job, easy piercing, and really clean work and made the experience totally comfortable. A day later and already the sensitivity is pretty much gone.Also overheard her helping some other folks who came in while I was waiting, and multiple times she took a look and suggested not to make any changes to their piercings yet, instead of pushing them into an easy sale. She is someone who truly has the clients best interest in mind!Will be going here for anything else I need!

Ive been getting tattoos for 25 years, and this is hands down my favorite tattoo shop. Michael Tofano is the best artist Ive worked with. The man is beyond talented. I also just got some piercing work done with Ali Garcia, and she was fantastic to work with. I cannot recommend this place any higher!

Chicago Tattoo is hands-down the best tattoo shop in the city! I just got my fifth tattoo in 20 years and the experience was exceptional, as it has been the previous 4 times. My wife also got her first tattoo and her experience was equally seamless. The shop was very accommodating and we were able to schedule appointments (recommended) on short notice. Mordette and Dottie were outstanding! They were very patient with us and offered constructive creative input on our design ideas. Their artistic vision won the day and ultimately made the experience memorable. Pricing was very reasonable. The shop is 50 years strong and still retains the aura and character of yesteryear. Ill definitely come back for my 6th!

I walked in on a Sunday morning with 4 friends to get basic b cloud tattoos (and one piercing) to match each other because we were having the best time in Chicago. Literally everyone was sweet as heck, helpful and accommodating of our desires. I have only ever gotten bigger/planned pieces in the past so this was my first time walking into a shop, and I was so happy with my experience. Thanks so much everyone, the lines on my new lil cloud are clean and smooth af (thanks guest artist! I think it was Pablo Silva, how lucky am I?) The flash here is also really sick. 👌

Wayyyy overdue review 🙈 I got these done back in December by Claudio and they are absolutely beautiful! I had some inspiration from Pinterest and he freestyled a few of the tattoos too. He worked quickly and his line work is perfect. I get compliments daily! I will be coming back to him for my other hand soon

Today, my sister, best friend and I went to Chicago tattooing company to get matching tattoos, and Dottie Vulture was absolutely amazing! We wanted a delicate design- a bike with a basket and flowers.Dottie was flexible with the design, and was outstanding delivering the tattoos. There wasnt a single tattoo that wasnt perfect.The pricing was reasonable and the service was great!I would highly recommend coming here to get a tattoo, and will definitely be back.

Love this place! I’ve gotten probably 4 of my piercings done here and they’ve all healed wonderfully. I got my helix & second lobe done at the same time and so far they’re healing great! Really enjoy the selection of jewelry at different price ranges and that they take walk-ins!

People were awesome. Studs for body piercings are overpriced garbage…never had one fall apart that much before and I’ve never paid $50 for a single stud…ridiculous POS

Amazing group of talented tattoo artists here. Augis is the one of the most amazing realism artists out there. He even has his own line of tattoo care products that I love, Yumain tattoo products, definitely try them out. He brought my beautiful dog to life on my skin and she is now with me forever. Im so grateful I found him for this special tattoo and he is a true artist. Cannot wait til my next project. They also have a great selection of high quality piercing jewelry and an experienced piercer with a great personality. This was the best tattoo experience I have ever had! Everyone at the shop was wonderful, super friendly and helpful. My artist was Dottie who did an amazing job, better than I could have hoped! My girlfriend also got one done by Claudio and it was so perfect!

Had a great time with Allison M! I was in the city for Taylor swift and decided to find a lady piercer in boystown! I’m really glad I came here since Allisonwas so friendly and made me feel comfortable. I’m a naturally shy and quiet person but Allison kept complimenting my eyebrows and cracking jokes so I felt at ease. The eyebrow piercing was quick and not painful at all. Her apprentice (I didn’t get their name I’m sorry) was super sweet too!! I’ll definitely will be back if I ever decide to get my other eyebrow pierced!

I will go nowhere else for my piercing and tattoo needs. The staff is very kind and works with their clients really well. Very clean, professional work. I got a tattoo from Claudio in March and just this past week got another one from Michael this past Thursday. No problems healing, feels and looks great. Will be going back next month!

I hate writing reviews but i really feel taken advantage of after spending so much money here over the year on piercings, tattoos & new jewelry. claudio messed up my tattoo and tried to charge me $200 for a tattoo that took him 30 minutes to complete and is only 2-3 inches across, despite his hourly price being $150. ive never had such a bad experience at a shop before. its bad enough to try to scam a customer with outrageous prices, but it adds insult to injury when one of the stars has a noticeable wonky line. just go to dottie, they did an amazing job on my other tattoo but i will not be back because i didnt appreciate being treated that way at all and it turned what wouldve been a cool memory and a good experience into one that made me anxious and humiliated.

I was recommended by a friend that lives in Chicago to come here when I was visiting. I had my daith and forward helix pierced by Alison. She did a great job. I haven’t had any issues since it being pierced and it hurt way less than I was expecting which I believe her skill played a large role in. She also asked me questions before the actual piercing to make sure I would be a good candidate which I appreciated. They have a good jewelry selection. I did choose to upgrade my jewelry so I wouldn’t consider it cheap at all but I knew that going in. I would definitely come back here to be pierced again!

I had an earlobe piercing in the middle of two other piercings close up while I removed it for surgery. I came here to get it repierced (didn’t get pierced here originally) with Allison. She did a better job than the original!They also size the jewelry for you so the back isn’t stabbing your head while you sleep. Allison was so cool and quick, and I loved to see how many women work here in general (not common at most of the older chicago tattoo shops).Pricing was fair, the deposit you put down when you reserve the appointment goes toward your piercing. Some of the jewelry was a little more expensive, but they do size it for you.Will come back for future piercings.

I dont know, spur of moment Sunday afternoon thing. Turned out to be a meh decision. Counter girl was pleasant and cool. Atmosphere was chill and inviting. Old tattoo guy was nice enough. It was a couple of small little black bangers. My girlfriend didnt like hers at all. Mine looked better, but the next day it blew out on the top and the bottom. The picture is a little over a week old.

My visit was great from the start! Nyx was very friendly greeting me, despite being busy planning a group tattoo. Allison saw me quickly and really knows piercings. My nipples are VERY grateful for the care and I really appreciate that she explained what was going on. I even scheduled my first tattoo! Ill try to remember to update this after the tattoo.Update 4 Oct. 2022: My tattoo session with Dottie was perfect! It was my first tattoo and she really listened to me, guided me through the process, and delivered a beautiful and really crisp tattoo. So happy with my experience!

Allison - piercer extraordinaire - has now fixed formerly messed up piercings of mine, advised me to take out and let close a few others that were beyond repair, and newly pierced various parts of my ears. When I tell you that I have literally had my piercings done all over the world, I am not exaggerating. But I was brought up in MN and the St. Sabrina piercing school, and she surpasses even those hallowed halls! If you are looking for piercing, do not pass go at any other shop. Allison is the only way to go.

Went in for a new ball for my septum ring, they didn’t have any balls that fit my septum so I decided to just get a whole new piece of jewelry. They put my piercing in without giving me a heads up of the price. Once I got to the counter they wanted 90 DOLLARS. For a new piece of jewelry, not a new piercing. I asked if I could just have it removed instead, because 90 dollars for a new piece of jewelry is absolutely ridiculous. They told me no refunds on body jewelry and made me pay. DO NOT GO HERE!!! THEY WILL OVERCHARGE YOU!!!!! (Also, in their reply to this, they claim to have discussed pricing with me before servicing my piercing. They did not mention a WORD of pricing, which is mostly why Im so baffled. Again, DO NOT GO HERE!)

Would definitely recommend. Allison is a great piercer, she made sure my ear piercings fit and flowed with my specific ear anatomy. I very much appreciate her care and attention to detail. Allison is probably the piercer i’ve had work done by. Bless.

I got my nose pierced here in October 2019. I have been back a few times to get jewelry changed. Although, the shop is clean and the piercers are professionals. I think they could work on being a little kinder to patrons. I was not consulted about the thickness of the piercing I was getting which has changed the appearance of my piercing a little. I would have gotten something a little thinner if I was consulted about my options before they pierced. It’s a great shop, but I prefer others in the area.

Walked in yesterday around 3pm for a tattoo and was delighted by the service!! Dottie Vilture did a great job! Didn’t catch receptionist name but they were very helpful as well. Highly recommend, extremely welcoming environment and very friendly people here.

Chicago Tattoo is a top notch tattooing parlor. I did a walk in and worked with Mike T, and he was able to create a master piece that covered my whole forearm. And I’d like to mention that this is my first tattoo and I will be coming back for more!

A fine place for a tattoo. I just moved to Chicago and am looking for a new studio. I personally didn’t connect with my artist, felt judged for my pervious tattoos with the comment “whatever shapes these are” by the guy doing my quick tattoo. When I tried to make friendly conversation “so what style do you like to do?” The reply was “*sarcastic laugh* people ask that and I like whatever style looks good” *insert eye roll*My piece looks good. Which is what I expect.The front desk girl was a delight tho!

I got a tattoo here and half of the tattoo faded away in 3 weeks!! I reached out as I know tattoos can fade but 3 weeks is ridiculous, they offered no assistance or empathy and simply stated I can “book a touch up appointment if I would like.” I would never recommend this place. $100 for half a tattoo to last 3 weeks and be left with half a tattoo on me.

I wish I could give them a million stars. I went in to get my recently passed dog’s paw tattooed on my wrist. Dottie was the artist and I really can’t put into words how amazing she was. She was very friendly and calming (I don’t always handle pain well). The whole shop has just such a calming presence. I would 100% recommend!

On a return trip back to the city after a decade, it was great to come back into my old tattoo spot and have an all round great experience. Joel rocked it out with some quick and beautiful work. Orange haired lady up front was amazing too but i forgot her name (sorry). Cant reccomend this place enough.

I’ve had a PA piercing done here 5 months ago by Oscar. My experience was great and Oscar is clearly an experienced pro. My piercing has now healed and I love it. The staff was also extremely helpful when I was looking for replacement jewelry and they have a good assortment of large-ish gauge quality steel pieces. My only two comments: Oscar was not anticipating that my piercing would bleed in the next couple of days, but it did — not uncommon for the piercing type though? and I wish he talked a little bit more about every step of the process, more so to guide me through it even though I knew how it worked. But now after 5 months if I had to do this again I’d definitely recommend Oscar. Specifically I like that he started immediately with a 6g bent barbell as opposed to smaller gauge jewelry, and that he expertly placed the piercing in the perfect location.

I’ve been here multiple times over the years for piercings/jewelry and have always had an excellent experience. Allison is one of the best piercers that I have ever met in the city. She is very polite, professional, and knowledgeable about what would look good and what would not. I will continue to give them my business, and so should you.

I think my piercing is super cute and they had a nice jewelry selection but I just want everyone to know that they charge $15 for each back to an earring which they don’t tell you about beforehand. I got a double lobe and was super confused as to where an extra $30 charge came from after the fact.

Great experience getting some cover up work done. Mike T. was a great person to do business with and works with a skilled hand👍💯 He displayed experienced insight into altering the tattoo I have. Especially considerate of clients and punctual. I am seriously considering hiring/collabing with him on a sleeve design I drew, in the near future.The place is very tastefully curated, many many available designs on the walls, I can tell the place has some character with old photos on the walls. Piercing rings on display at the counters, all types. I believe I saw some smaller sized plugs and tunnels there too, dont quote me.As with all good tattoo shops, staff are composed and ready to help. Surgically clean at the tattoo chair area. Im sure they can accomodate a private setting for ladies getting work done to their chest or otherwise.Dont come high or drunk, arrive hydrated and ready for your session. Do not take aspirin or acetaminophen (Tylenol, etc.) because it make you bleed more and your experience will be just as messy as you have set yourself up to be. Bring a teeth grinding guard if you need to, $10 at target Their atm sucks when I visited early 04/2023 so bring cash to pay for your tattoo/piercing.Otherwise very accomodating, pleasant, and agreeable experience. Looking forward to visiting again for a big tattoo and a grilled cheese sandwich at Cheesies across the street.

I came here for a single nostril piercing and was really nervous, but Oscar was so kind and talked to me through the entire thing! He even checked on a different piercing for me that he didn’t pierce initially. All around great customer service, great facility, 10/10 would come back for another piercing!!

There’s an “artist” on instagram, taking deposits from people saying that they work at the shop. I placed a $200 deposit for a tattoo appointment, just for the day of my appointment the person blocks me! Please be aware of the scammers, especially since they have no affiliation with the shop. The account is ink_by_mj. And there are plenty more, I’m sure. I’ve reported their cash app, and their account but they keep coming back.

I went this morning to get a tattoo, I wanted a memory of my time in Chicago before going back home. My tattoo artist was Dottie, she is lovely and did a great job. She checked the drawing and the colors on several occasions, very professional. We have been also talking while she was tattooing me, she is very nice. I highly recommend her!!!

I was very pleased with the shop and the staff. I got two tiny tattoos and they shared their thoughts and experiences with me; very professional! Mike was very kind and i am so happy with my two new tattoos. Everything is clean and they tell you everything you need to know. Furthermore, it was my first tattoo abroad and it worked perfectly fine! Moreover, it right next to the train station so thats convenient too!

It took me a long time to find an artist I wanted to work with and could trust. Michael Tofano at Chicago Tattoo & Piercing Co. is amazing. He loves all Asian art, and worked with my art, but also was able to freehand additions and modifications.

I came in to buy some new jewelry for my philtrum piercing. they said it would be $57 and i was okay with that and picked out a plain rhinestone. after picking it out they invited me back to put it in and i didnt think anything of it. got the piercing in and glanced in the mirror and thought it was fine. when i went to check out the price had jumped to $83 + tip. i didnt have enough money since i thought it would be maybe $65 at most. the jewelry was already in my face and the service was done and i didnt know what to do so i panicked asked a friend for money and just paid and left. at first i thought it was insane taxes and then my friend pointed out they probably charged me to change the piercing too. i wouldve changed the jewelry myself if i knew they were gonna charge me for it. everyone was nice and professional and the space was clean, overall good experience that probably wouldve been fixed if i had asked questions. just some miscommunication and im not sure what to do in this situation.

Was visiting Chicago and had a paw done on my upper arm of my dog of 20 years who past away recently. Dottie is by far the kindest and most relexing tattoo artist I ever had. Like... even though it hurt at times (which is a given because of the location), the way she was engaging in a conversation with me in such a calm way actually made the experience even better! Imagine if she was a doctor with a patient giving birth, like Dottie would make that event go smooth from how calming she is, ya know? I had 3 tattoos done at another location in California and it was super simple but took about an hour and the line work was meh. Whereas Dottie did mine in under 30 minutes and it looks PERFECT. Highly recommend it here! Thanks!

Oscar was awesome! I got a industrial piercing and he did such a great job. It has been healing great, even just a couple of days after there is not any pain. I will definitely be going back and recommending him.

The piercer Allison is amazing! She knows her stuff and does it well. She did my friends bridge piercing, which is a bit notorious as a difficult one to align properly, but it turned out perfect. I cant personally attest to the tattoo artists, but Ive heard good things.The shop is clean, they use quality products, and everyone is nice. A+ in my book.

Ive popped into this shop for jewelry changes a couple of times, and everyone is friendly and helpful so I decided to get a piercing. I saw Madeline and got a double forward helix. She explained the procedure clearly, made me as comfortable as possible, and the piercings came out awesome. Im so pleased. Looking forward to going back and getting more!

I can only review the piercers like the reviewer before me but Allison was fantastic! Charismatic and really helpful with suggestions and what I wanted turned out perfectly. The shop is really clean as well and theres a good selection of jewelry here. Putting five stars especially because I came by for aftercare after the piercing as well and got help for it. Definitely returning!

I had a wonderful experience shopping for earrings for my helix. I made an appointment online and answered their covid questionnaire, which was pretty quick. The ladies that help me out with my purchase are very knowledged and showed lots of patience and smiles, I had many questions since I’m new to this kind of jewelry. I also bought a sterling solution to help with the healing of my new piercings. Which seem to be doing way better from a days use.

Chicago tattoo and piercing company I feel held strictly to the COVID 19 virus recommendations of wearing mask, social distancing, and sanitation. All staff members were kind and caring and maintained excellent sanitation practices.My incredible artist Michael was sensitive and patient since this was my 1st tattoo experience. He kept me relaxed and comfortable during the entire time and explained what to expect all during the process. Yes, there was some pain but I was able to tolerate it pretty well. I enjoyed the experience. Im already thinking about having another one done in the near future.

Just went in to get a few replacements for my nose ring which fell out in the shower and went down the drain...the shop is well lit and quite clean. I am going to go back and get a tattoo soon!

I got tattooed by Mike and it was an amazing experience! He was gentle, he guided me through everything the lines, when he was shading and applying colour, gave me a heads up on sensitive areas. Got my first tattoo here last week and I was so amazed. Joel is incredible, kind, and kept me smiling and calm. He didnt make me feel silly or inadequate for getting a (very) small tattoo. He answered all the questions I asked and made me feel comfortable even though I was nervous. He was incredible! Thanks, Joel! This place is also astoundingly clean. They are checking temperatures, putting cell phones in baggies, and plastic wrapping iPads for check-in procedures. Id recommend Joel and Chicago Tattoo to anyone! This is the place!

Got my nosed pierced as my Chicago souvenir! Very friendly, helpful staff. Clean! Allison was very honest and Im very glad I followed her recomendation on the size I should get. She explained everything in full detail and her after care speech was not only informative but funny and she made me feel at ease!

Mordette is so great to work with - shes done two of my tattoos (one fine line piece with lots of color, and one blocky black and white one) and theyre both holding up super well. Her prices are super reasonable, Ill definitely schedule with her again in the future.

I was tattooed by Olivia. My friend and I did a walk-in and though we had a to wait a couple hours because they were busy with clients who had made appointment there were comfortable couches and lots of flash to look at while you wait. There’s also a ton of restaurants on the same street if you have a bit of a wait. Olivia was awesome and gave me everything I wanted and more. I had a hip tattoo and she put up a screen for me since I had to lift up my dress for her to tattoo me. She is such an amazing artist and gives fair prices and I would highly recommend her!

Really great experience here I know these guys are working hard to keep it clean and also accommodate people needing piercings and tattoos, I can recommend them highly and I would suggest giving them an email shout out to get your work done! Theyre one of the few shops thats actually responding to e-mails! Mike was fantastic and has a great style and light hand.

I had Joel tattoo two petunias and it was a lovely experience! The shop was extremely clean and took heavy precautions because of covid. Everyone was super nice and Joel chatted the whole time so I didn’t even notice the pain. The tattoo turned out awesome. When I get another tattoo I will be going here!

Oscar was awesome and helpful for my nostril piercing with my vaccine card (btw get vaxxed!). I wanted to get it done day of, and on the phone they said I could make a day of appointment for under-the-mask piercing which worked out great. Oscar was not trying to sell me useless products but was down to earth and real and answered all my questions. Thank you! Have come multiple times for the sole reason of getting pierced by Oscar. He does not dissapoint and really helps ease any nerves you might have. Whether it be your first piercing or your ninth, he really is a pro at what he does and had never had an issue with any of the piercings done by him. He excels not only at his job, but delivering excellent customer service and knowing what jewelry best to recommend for specific piercings. He never is in a rush when asking questions and does his best to explain the whole process of the piercing and after care. Definitely recommend and will keep coming back for future piercings!

I just got my first tattoo here and had such a fantastic experience. I had a lot of questions which they happily answered, I did a walk in and waited no more than 15 minutes. The process of getting the tattoo was such a positive one. I never felt uncomfortable in the setting and the artist definitely helped me feel at ease while I got the tattoo and assured me that I could take as many breaks as I needed and not to worry. Allison is by far the best piercer you could ever ask for. To date ive had 17 piercings and ever since i came to this shop i have never gone to another. Allison is like a great barber, when you find one with vision, experience and this level of professionalism you never go to another.

We brought our 9 year old to get her ears pierced. She was excited yet extremely nervous. Alison took so much time with her and explained everything first. She said shed only pierce her when she said she was ready and would not surprise her. It went great! I was impressed by how cleanly the process was. Everything was sterilized and she probably swapped out her gloves 5 times if she touched different things.

I am a returning customer for a reason. Always a great experience, friendly staff and comfortable. Rudy pierced my septum, he was laid back and explained everything pretty thoroughly. Made me feel less stressed and Im really glad he pierced me. Best tattoo and piercing shop in Chicago!

I had Daniela as a tattoo artist. She was not the best, she gave me a very basic design for my piece.she promised me she will be creative yet she left my tattoo with a lot of empty space so it look unfinished. She was in a rish get out of the shop.with her husband. She got ink outside the contour li es. And she butchered my skin by overworking it. My wife got and amazing tattoo with jose he was delicate and artistic with his creations.

Let me just rave about how great he is, I sent him over a picture of what I wanted but I asked for it to be adjusted and change things up a bit. I have gotten a tattoo and piercings done at Chicago Tattoo & Piercing Co. and both experiences have been great. The shop is very clean and all of the employees are very genuine and honest with any concern or question you may have. Both the piercing, done by Alice and the tattoo, done by a male, were very quick and as pain-free as it could be!

I did a walk in with my Brother to get our first Tattoos on our butts. Everything was a great/easy experience considering we had no idea what we were doing. They made the tattoo stencil exactly how we wanted in terms of shape and size.We had Travis and Joel, two great guys with great personalities.Also, this place had a very warm and CLEAN feeling to it.

I got my monroe piercing here from rudy. It healed beautifully! I recommend this place to everyone. So far 2 of my friends got their noses pierced and we are all happy with the service and friendliness of the staff. I went back recently. Allison did my tongue and septum. Lovely girl who makes you feel like friends before the pain.

I got dermals on my collar bone done here back in 2013 & have never had an issue with them. Went back & got my conch pierced with Allison. Shes friendly & very professional (well everyone here really) answering any questions I had. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Got a second nose piercing here. The day I went was super busy because it was their Anniversary, so I waited 3 plus hours. Guessing this isnt normal. There were many regulars there--one of which was allowed to cut in line ahead of me. I would have been annoyed but it seems like this is a family business--some folks come here so often they get family treatment. So whatever. Prices are higher than other places, at least for piercing and jewelry, but the piercing itself was top notch and expertly done (Im saying this 4 months after the fact with no issues to date and a great looking piercing).

I usually dont leave 1-star reviews, but unfortunately these guys earned it. When I was working on a design for my tattoo with Nenad, his original sketch was stunning. Then he started to put it on my body, and it looked NOTHING like the sketch. By the time I realized how badly it had gone, it was too late, and now its on my body forever. And when I got my nostril pierced it was done at the wrong angle, so every time I go into a different shop to get it swapped for new jewelry, the staff tells me I should just let it close up and start over. Its that bad. Im so sad that I let these people mess my body up. Dont go.

Ive gotten multiple tattoos from Mike here, and every single time I was blown away by the linework and artistry. Hes always incredibly professional and friendly. Everything from the front desk workers to the piercers (shoutout Allison!) to the tattoo artists (Nenad is awesome!) is top-notch, and I cannot recommend this shop highly enough. This is the only place I go to get work done.

This place is very, very clean, the staff is friendly and very responsive. I went in for a quick consultation with Nenad on a Saturday, explained what I was wanting, and he took my idea and turned it in to something absolutely beautiful. The entire tattoo took less than 2 hours. Nenad was great, explaining what he was doing as he worked, and checking with me about various options in the design. I am in love with the final product. I will definitely me making future appointments with Nenad. First two pictures are the day one, 3rd pic is 3 weeks later.

Horrible customer service. So rude and not able to listen to my needs and meet them. I went in for a nose piercing. Ive had it done before, along with many other piercings, and was told they will not do a hoop which is the only piece of jewelry Ive ever had in my nose. I would never change it out if I didnt have to. Not only do I not get what I want, but all their options where limited and not cute. The ones that were acceptable were gold plated which they charge at least 90$. So, that would mean I would have to go 6-9 months with something I hate in my nose only to pay for another piece of jewelry on top of it later to switch it out. Then I was told they charge for the piercing and the jewelry. Ive never been to a place that almost double charged for a piercing. On top of that, I was talked to like I was an idiot. Ive been in the nursing field for a long time and am experience in getting tattoos and piercings. I know some things about wound healing. I left immediately and went to another place that did exactly what I wanted and only charged me for a flat price (which is what Im used to).

Almost 20 years later, Im still happy with my tattoos. My son wants his first tat from here. We are waiting for our next trip to Chicago to get it. I got my first professional tat here. Never a bad experience. You all are amazing!!

I have been to different tattoo parlors in the city, and this is one of the best. They have been there since the late 70s, and have hundreds of already made tattoo drawings to choose from. You can also bring in your own drawing and they will tattoo it for your. I have been there many times with my own artwork tattooed on me. I went to get my septum pierced, the the piercer explained what I need to do to keep it clean and take care of it.

I just got my first tattoo here! It was done by Michael Tofano, and he was great! Im really happy with how it turned out. Michael was very helpful while guiding me through the process of everything, and was talking to me, and making sure I was comfortable throughout the tattoo.

Had a wonderful experience going here! My piercer was Madrline and she did an amazing job even though I was a nervous wreck.Im not sure how this place compares to others but all my friends recommended it and they were very professional so I dont think you can go wrong!

This is the best place for piercings (cant speak for tattoos because I havent gotten one here). My piercing artist did an amazing job with my cartilage piercing and was super thorough with instructions and answered all my questions. Its on the pricier side, but definitely worth the money in my opinion since youre paying for good quality service and high quality jewelry. Highly recommend!

This is the first review Ive ever written...I did a lot of research before getting my first nose piercing, and I was originally excited to go to Chicago Tattoo & Piercing for the procedure. I loved the piercing (I got the smallest size, in gold) but a week after getting it, I developed a small bump on my nose just around the piercing. After researching online, I found that these were common and often go away with time. I waited weeks, then months. I kept the area clean with the spray Id been given and used Tea Tree Oil when instructed by a Chicago T&P piercer. I went back three times over the course of months, was given mixed advice, and finally stopped going. I kept hoping the bump would go away. I tried everything. When i lived in D.C. I asked for advice there, when I moved to New York I asked for advice there. No one could figure out what the problem was. And every time I was so fed up I wanted to take it out, the bump would go down just enough for me to think Maybe this time itll go away! Finally, after 2.5 years, I went to Insight Studios, where the piercer took out the piercing and replaced it with a retainer. The bump immediately went down. Its been three days and the bump is the lowest its ever been. The actual gold of the piercing had been a problem the whole time. It also probably wasnt solid gold, as it had tarnished almost all over. I paid close to $200 for that nose ring.Needless to say, Im extremely disappointed. I hoped they would have given me a high quality piercing, but it was not. I want my money back.

David did a first time tatt on my daughters arm that my older daughters and I all have the same and it turned out perfect! The atmosphere is very welcoming and so are the staff!

If I could give this place a golden star I would. I came here in April and May of last year. I walked in with an idea, and I originally started out wanting a small BB-8 but Will talked to me about details and stuff and we decided to go bigger. Will was an amazing artist and I was super anxious because it was my first big tattoo, and I am anxious going to new places, but it was an AMAZING experience. I ended up with a beautiful tattoo that I still love seeing everyday.

Was tatted here about a year ago based on a referral from a family member. The artist was nice enough but he went too deep in my skin for my wrist tattoo which ended up scarring as a result. The tattoo also wasnt symmetrical which it should have been. Ended up having to get it fixed at Insight which is where I normally go and shouldve gone to in the first place. However, due to the initial scarring its still not perfect but Insight made it much better than it was.

The girl with the curly hair is extremely unprofessional when it comes to speaking with potential clients. Called ahead to let them know I’d be running late due to unforeseen circumstance however she tossed a pretentious attitude upon arrival because I was just barely 15 mins late for the appointment deeming it wasted the time of the piercer. life happens and the attitude was unneeded.

I went in this past Tuesday evening because I had questions about piercings, I have been thinking of getting one but I’ve been scared lol. I came here in search of a hoop nose ring. However the person who assisted me ended up being a huge help. (Unfortunately i don’t recall the persons name) this person informed me that my nose was not completely healed and suggested I avoid the hoop nose ring. This individual instead suggested alternatives. I ended up going with a stud and left happily. Great customer service! Will return for future piercings

I showed up about 15 mins after they opened on a Wednesday looking for a piercing. They said the piercing guy wouldnt be in for an hour. I came back an hour and 15 later and the door was locked. I looked inside and the woman I talked to earlier was still at the counter and looked at me and just shrugged her shoulders. I dont know what their deal is but I have to recommend against it if theyre going to operate like that with them standing there and the door locked in the middle of business hours on a Wednesday

Hey Everyone , This is my fourth time i am planning to get a tattoo and being new i went to the closest tattoo shop in lakeview but the service of this tattoo shop is pathetic , firstly i wanted to get one of my tattoo modified and asked for ideas but they did not help me in giving any ideas , i am not sure if nenad is like that or everyone else is not supportive on what you want to get drawn . Secondly they booked me an appointment exactly after a week; When i turned up after a week they said i have they have another booking and returned my money. This was abs not professional from Nenad , he will not support and sounds really rude to me to talk like that to the customer. I would suggest go to other tattoo shop and if by chance u end up here avoid artist like Nenad who does not value others time and effort . he wasted my hours and full week and at the end there was nothing done.I will give them one star for the desk person who was quite helpful in explaining how it works here and gave me multiple options for my appointment.

Honestly I did like my piercing but people were a bit different and not as cool. If you want to feel welcome and you have a high energy, this might not be the place. Price was a bit high as well.

Rudy does all of my piercings, and is the coolest, most calming person. he guides your breathing, and makes you look amazing. this man has talent. he has helped me with placement of piercings, to make them look better. he has assisted in what jewelry is most appropriate for where your piercing is, and he always keeps me up to date on the latest fashions in jewelry. he is a Godsend!i like going to dave for my tattoos! hes done a few of mine and they look amazing to this day. no fading nor discoloration. hell tell ya some good stories too!

Had the honor of joining a friend for a tattoo at this establishment yesterday. David McNair took time to consult, work with us both, and give us tattoos we were incredibly proud of. I just wanted to thank him for his attitude and professionalism, and for showing up on a day when the rest of Chicago stayed indoors to be warm. I will be back.

This is the only place in the city where I will trust the tattoo artists and the spectacular piercer named Rudy Carrillo. His work is unmatched and he has been my piercer for years , before that he worked with all of my sisters. Rudy is a true Chicago original and this shop is clean and well worth the money to put down.

Awesome staff clean shop! I went there to get an old tattoo covered up and wasn’t sure what I wanted. My artist hand drew the idea I had and gave suggestions on enhancing it. It came out perfectly! And you can’t even tell the old tattoo was ever there. I highly recommend this shop!

Michael was wonderful, plus he was really up on his Supreme court knowledge :)Getting a tattoo during COVID might seem like a risky decision given the entirely voluntary nature of a tattoo but the shop was SOOO clean, so cautious, and followed all the necessary protocols.

My friends and I came in as a group and were greeted cheerfully and helped immediately. The tattoo I got was tiny but my artist seemed to care and made sure I got exactly what I wanted, BUT— it’s crooked. One of the wings of my tattoo is crooked and I’m pretty disappointed. Great service, but I can’t believe how crooked mine is.

I am from out of town and I just got my first tattoo at this place. It was done by Joel and it was absolutely fantastic. It looks perfect, and the place was awesome and everyone was nice. For anyone needing a tattoo in Chicago I would 100% recommend this place.

Went with my boyfriend to get his tattoo, and Joel was extremely pushy and opinionated on what he should get. I have been to 3 other tattoo artists, and no one has been that rude or pushy to me or the people I was with ever. We said nevermind and walked out, and he yelled back at me and said “thanks girlfriend” in a sarcastic manner because he was mad he lost business. The other artists are probably great, but Joel is very unprofessional and rude.

They only service people who have the original physical copy of their vaccination card. Which means if you lost that card or, like me and many other people in Chicago, if you got vaccinated at Northwestern or somewhere that stopped doing the square cards and primarily sent digital copies, then you won’t be able to be serviced. This policy just doesn’t make sense and it’s absolutely ridiculous. I work in the medical field and the science is clear that if the piercer is vaccinated AND masked, your chances of contracting COVID and close to none even if the customer is unvaccinated. You’re now missing out on so many vaccinated customers over such a strict rule. There are multiple other ways around this like requiring official copies or validated directly from the vaccinating provider online or simply taking temperatures along with whatever vaccination card form they have. Just unacceptable.

I loved my experience here. I had a cover up done and the artist did such an amazing job. I love the tattoo and how it looks on my body. I also had a piercing done and the girl did a great job.

I went to chicago tattoo and piercing co. for the sailor jerry free tattoo day. I wasnt expecting to get a tattoo I was just there for my fiance to get a tattoo. I figured after waiting a good 4 hours or so for her to get it I figured I would at least get one. The tattoo guys were fantastic and I definitely recommend them! They are a little pricey but they do really really good work! If you are looking for the best service and the best tattoo guys in chicago, go to them. Their piercer Rudy Carillo is one of the friendlest best piercers I have ever seen!

70$ for a tiny barbell? Are you joking? I didnt even get pierced just the jewelry alone. Far too expensive. Dont go there if you just want jewelry unless you dont care about spending money on something that should be 20$ tops.

I wish i could give them ZERO stars. The first time I got inked there were no problems. I was helped and was in and out . This go around today they just piss me off.It was a new receptionist guy with a hipster mustache that didnt know what he was doing. I came in and waited patiently and was told that my design and would be considered a walk-in and should come back after 4 pm ( I arrived at 12:30).No problem! I came back around 4:50 and again waited patiently to be served,and when I actually showed him the design he showed it to an artist that was working and he stated it was too big for the placement that I wanted and asked for suggestions; I was given rude answers like, Nah, I cant do that which is fine but, I was asking for other alternatives. I just had it with people waste my time and acting rude. I will take m y businesses elsewhere.

Called & asked if they had septum piercing jewelry, the girl said yes. I come all the way there, look in the window the shop is completely empty, i knock on the door & some girl answers(most likely the same girl i talked to on the phone) i ask her if i could just look at the septum jewelry & she told me I had to make an appointment & shut the door in my face. Made me waste my time, could of told me that over the phone. Writing this as Im heading to the Tattoo Factory, where you dont need an appointment to just look at jewelry.

Went in to get some hoop earrings, I was in and out, great service! Asked me some questions and got me exactly what I was looking for.

I got my first tattoo here and was very impressed. The entire staff was very knowledgeable and helpful in helping me decide what exactly I wanted and exactly how I wanted it. Also gave me plenty of information about aftercare and offered free touch-ups.

Unfortunately had a bad experience. Got two lobe piercings as well as a cartilage piercing. Decided to go with the nicer (more expensive) jewelry they offered and ended up picking a wishbone shaped earring (~$100 each). After my first lobe was pierced, one of the wishbone earrings broke as it was being handled, so I had no choice but to pick another earring, which I politely obliged. Obviously the earring shape or make is delicate/not worth $100 if it is going to break that easily, but I was happy with my piercings so I didnt think much of it. Fast forward a month later, and the same wishbone earring broke overnight while I was sleeping. Disappointing to say the least that a $100 earring would break doing such a routine activity, but not surprising since the partner earring had broken during my appointment. I called to let them know, expecting some assistance, but I received blame for having a fuzzy pillow (which I originally provided as a possible reason as to why it broke, not expecting for that to be used against me) and was told that it was my fault for the earring breaking, so therefore I needed to pay the shipping to send the earring back to its maker as well as pay to get my ear repierced. Bad customer service, will be taking my business elsewhere.

This place did a great job with my brothers tattoo. They knew exactly what he wanted. Their work is beautiful and im thinking of going their for my own tatto. I would recommend this for anybody who is getting their first tatto.

I worked with Joe and felt rushed when I was finding the right spot to put the tattoo stencil. I showed him the picture of the tattoo that I wanted and how thin the lines were (and that I was OK with very thin lines), and let’s just say… it is not at all like the picture. Very disappointed.
