Amazing experience! Got my nose pierced. Made sure it was exactly where I wanted it even though I had it previously pierced in the same place. Bob was SO nice and easy to talk to. The ambiance of the shop is so amazing & fun. I will definitely be coming back. I am obsessed with how my piercing looks!!

Bob is the only person I wanted to do my daughter’s first ear piercings. I didn’t feel comfortable taking her anywhere else. His place is the cleanest shop I’ve ever been to. The shop alone is a pleasure to be in, it’s beautiful! He did so well with her. Her ears look perfect and healing well. He’s very skilled and great at what he does. Highly recommend him to anyone. Very professional and such a sweetheart.

An incredible experience with my daughter!I had sole custody of my daughter, she’s 21 now, and she’s the best. NCAA athlete, 4.0 student, the best kid. She’s been talking about she and I getting matching tattoos for years and when I came up to Chicago to visit her during her internship this summer, we decided this was the time.This was super important because it’s about me and her, and, it was going to be her first and only tattoo.Bob and Marco and the people at Insight are PHENOMENAL! When you walk in, the place is immaculate and it’s very cool the way it’s decorated – immediate comfort level and excitement. The bathroom is cleaner than the bathroom in my own house, no sh*t, and I am a clean freak.Bob couldn’t have been friendlier when we walked in and Marco, our artist, had to actually design my tattoo as it was slightly different. Marco SLAYED. Not only did he do this new one perfectly, I have 2 others right near this new one that are 12 and 30 years old and he suggested that he “touch them up” as they were pretty faded and this would crisp them back up and make all the colors match. THE BEST IDEA and he only charged me $30 to fix both!For the work he did, and the care, and for the great conversation which made the time pass, I would have paid him $1,000. And then when it was my daughter’s turn, she was already so chill and ready because she got to watch Marco and me.After we were done, Bob gave us cash to go into his photo booth to commemorate the situation and it was just the perfect ending to an awesome experience.BRAVO to Insight and the whole crew, this is how a customer focused business should be handled.

I have had nothing short of the absolute best experiences when choosing Insight Studios for any tattoo, piercing, or tattoo removal. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and professional. When I say this place is top-notch and the best of the best, I mean it!I see Wendell Frazier for my tattoos, and I cannot say enough good things about him. He always goes the extra mile to ensure Im 100% happy with a design before tattooing me, no matter how many times Ive asked him to make a tweak or change to the drawing. He has excellent bedside manner and makes sure to check in and ask how Im feeling throughout the process. I have never felt more comfortable being tattooed. Ive been to many other artists and shops, and once I found Wendell I knew I was sticking with him. I constantly get complimented on how beautiful the work on my arm is, and its all thanks to Wendell!Bob was the first person I ever received a professional piercing from. I was nervous, but Bob talked me through the entire process step by step as he did it. He was very gentle, and made sure to thoroughly go over the aftercare and answered any questions I had. Ive had many piercings done since then by other piercers, and Bob was by far the best!In conclusion, if youre not going to Insight Studios for your tattoos and piercings, youre missin out!

I brought my family in to get tattoos and an unexpected piercing, and Bob, Dan, and Cory did a fantastic job. One tattoo was a pineapple for my youngest cousin that we all have from another studio, it matched exactly by Dan. Then, we got two flowers from Dan that were absolutely beautiful. Cory added on to a current tattoo and exceeded expectations/imaginations. Bob was great to communicate with and handled 7 girls coming in at once brilliantly. Lastly, bob comp’d my tattoo for bringing the family in. It was beautiful work, a clinically clean studio, excellent customer service. Thank you!!

I am so grateful to have found this studio! I came here about a year ago for a small fine-line tattoo. The artist was extremely kind, helpful, and informative. The price was reasonable-he even asked us what we felt comfortable paying. He worked with care but was also very quick. He was literally done in 20 minutes and I experienced minimal pain. It was exactly what I wanted and is my favorite tattoo to date! Came back for a nose piercing that had closed-I was prepared to pay the price for the piercing and the ring. However the piercer told me he was confident he could get the ring in without re piercing and he did-literally got the ring back in in 2 seconds and I felt no pain. He told me I only had to pay $30 for the ring and he even said I can come back in a month and he would help me switch the ring out. Everyone that works here is extremely talented and kind. Highly recommend for any of your tattoo or piercing needs!

Bob was so incredible with my daughter. She is 6 and was very nervous (and excited) to get her ears pierced. He has such a calm demeanor and made my daughter feel comfortable right away. She said he will be her piercer for life! Thanks Bob :)

I have gone to this place before, twice with my dad. I got my septum and industrial pierced and they both healed fine. My friend and I wanted to get piercings so I suggested we come here. The process was fine and the piercer was nice. I got both eyebrows done and my friend got her cheeks pierced. He put in two different lengths of jewelry in my eyebrows. He also put in the smallest gauge so I literally can’t find jewelry to replace it. With my friend, her jewelry ended up falling out at work and she found a different piercer who replaced her jewelry. Apparently he had put the completely wrong jewelry in and it had caused an infection. I don’t know if he was just careless or if he had an off day but this is unacceptable.

I had a vision in my head about what I wanted and I did a walk in & explained to them my vision. They did it immediately. The style & how big it is amazing. The cost was also good & now my friends want to come next week

Ive been going to Insight for several years, now, and consider it to be my one and only place to get tattooed. If I was into piercings, Id get those done at Insight Studios, as well. First of all, Ive never seen a cleaner shop in my life. Everything is steel or glass block. Filth couldnt hide if it wanted to. One of the ways it is different from other tattoo shops is that they dont have any flash art on the walls or in books. All of the tattoo artists are also just true artists. You can have a consultation with an artist of your choosing and tell him/her what your ideas are, and they can come up with one or more ways of interpreting that, show you what theyve come up with, and you can go from there. It can be as collaborative of an effort as you wish, though dont expect to spend a ton of time with an artist for free. Their talents and time are worth compensation, of course. Everyone there is highly trained and must regularly complete classes about bloodborne diseases and all the things youd want them to know PLUS some. I really respect them because its a spotless, brightly lit location in which they will NOT tattoo or pierce you if you have been drinking or are under the influence in any way. The artists are usually as thrilled about your tattoo design as YOU are, which really makes it fun. They also happen to do tattoo removal, here. The owner of the shop and pretty much every artist there is a huge animal lover and most have AT LEAST one pet. They regularly do fundraisers for different animal shelters and nonprofit organizations. I just cant say enough good things about this place and everyone who works there.

The staff are really nice! I went here to get my ears pierced (It was my first time), and the process went really smoothly. Plus, the atmosphere was light, and the people there were fun to talk to and make conversation with. (They even gave us free shirts!) 10/10 would definitely come back again.

From an out of town customer , this is the place to go to ! John did my tattoo and he did such a great job. I’m so in love with the outcome. The vibes in the shop are so welcoming. But I do recommend going in early as possible if you don’t have an appointment.

This is a very interesting studio,itsworth a trip just to check it out! Wendell did my piece, he did an amazing job, even better than I expected .All in all its a very professional, pleasant & friendly, atmosphere located right here in Chicago😎. I know Ill be back .

I got my septum pierced in Barcelona and it was time to get the piercing changed — it was slightly infected OBVI. One of the piercers ( I think Bob) took care of it really nicely. Changed it for a gold hoop, disinfected it, gave me antibacterial lotion and all of that. I felt super taken care of and DEF coming back. plus the place is such a vibe.

I went to this piercing shop to get my snug pierced two months ago. Since then, I have been having cyclic infections. My piercer, Bob, said that this was normal, but he never asked me to come back to downsize my jewelry (which is a standard procedure for snug piercings). I went back two months later because my snug was very inflamed, and he changed the barbell to a larger size. This made the piercing immediately worse and extremely painful. I went to three other piercing shops for second opinions, and they all said the same thing: Bob pierced my snug incorrectly, and there was little chance that it would ever heal properly. They all advised me to take it out.I would not recommend this piercing shop to anyone. My experience was terrible, and I wasted a lot of money.

I was recently in Chicago for work and one of my lobe piercings got really infected. I was searching for a shop that could help and found this place. They saw me same day. Bob addressed the problem with ease and assured me everything was fine. He cleaned my piercings for me, gave me a bottle of piercing wash, showed me pictures of his adorable cats, all for free! I HIGHLY recommend this place and had a great experience. Very professional and clean shop. Will absolutely come here any time I need a place in Chicago!

I took my 7 year old in to get her ears pierced after doing extensive research for qualified and certified piercers in the area. She was incredibly excited after having spent the last year asking for them. Everyone at the shop was incredibly kind and helpful. Bob Jones was great with my daughter, even when she was having a tough time after getting the first ear done. Very patient, he had a good pep talk with her and they were able to finish up. She cant stop talking about how much she loves them. The shop was immaculately clean and we enjoyed our experience. Highly recommend Insight and Bob Jones for piercings.

Go see Bob for your piercing. He was so chill and felt super comfortable getting my nose pierced (re-pierced) with him. I let him know I had removed my nose ring at the beginning of the year and how long ago I had had it done etc. He was able to just re-pierce (re-open?) the hole and done! charged me for the jewelry and then gave me a lollipop! :) Also, provided me with after-care info and soap, along with a suggested date to come back to get ring resized.

Got my 7 year old daughters ears pierced by Bob Jones. The wait time was only about 5 minutes after showing a few documents and filling out a consent form. The shop was very clean, piercing room was well equipped, pleasant. Bob explained everything he was going to do in detail. My daughter did not complain at all and left with a big smile on her face. We went back to downsize as well. Bob was very helpful and quickly responded to my message when I asked him about types of metals suitable for new earrings. Would go back again and highly recommend! One more thing to add, my daughter and son (present at piercing) both got t-shirts from Bob alongside pens, lollypops and buttons of his beloved cat. These little goodies were nice extras beside the great service! A+

I got my 2nd tattoo here and I loved my experience! I got it done by Kelly and he was super nice and friendly. I was sort of picky with how and where I wanted my tattoo and he was a sport hearing me out. The cost was great in my opinion. For a simple tattoo, it came out to be around $100! The place was nice and smelled clean. Found out from looking at their brochures, that you can adopt ferrets, which I never would have knew if I did not go there. So it was fate! Definitely going there again! 😃

Worst tattoo I’ve ever had. The shading was super light once it healed, I contacted the artist and he never wrote me back. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Me and my husband came to this place to get our matching tattoos done today and our tattoo artist, Marco, was amazing! He was very kind and did a phenomenal job with our tattoos. We would definitely come back here!

Bob pierced my ear with the wrong size, piercing became swollen to the point it was eating my jewelry, went to another piercer for help and it was EXTREMELY painful—was told it was pierced with WAY too small an earring/gauge, and a push-in closure they said was damaging and shouldn’t be used. They thought it might be best to take it out and let it close but was willing to try to make it healthy and correct. Had to have it sized up several sizes and gauged up one size while swollen and painful—ouch.I had also requested a specific earring fit this piercing which I had brought and the piercer said no problem— it’s probably 1/5 the size of how this was pierced-so far off the request and definitely not what I requested/we discussed. Placement is one of the best things about a good piercer!Have wasted money and had a lot of problems and discomfort with this piercing, and it just looks overall unhealthy :( The bumps from the trauma are an issue, and this is overall a very disappointing and unprofessional piercing. I have had lots of experience with other piercings (elsewhere) and I’ve never had anything close to this many problems. Just hoping to save someone else from what was just an all around bad piercing experience.

Got a walk in tattoo, it was my first one and didnt know what to expect. The guy was not very friendly about it. I wanted it to be under my arm and hidden, so when I asked to look at the placement he said it would mess up the stencil so I couldnt. I was too naive to stand up for myself. Tattooing was fine, but the final healed tattoo is so blown out Im glad its hidden because its awful. I went to a different shop and they said it was the worst blow out theyve ever seen and offered to try and fix it for me. Overall, horrible from start to finish.Edit: I got it mid November

Took my daughter here to get her ears pierced. Very sanitary, spacious and professional staff. Two pluses were the Photo Booth & I love my new t-shirt!

Got two tattoos done by Cory and he did a great job. Listened to me in terms of what I wanted and was helpful with adjustments to the design and placement. I also got an ear piercing done by Bob; he was very friendly and knowledgeable. Really nice shop and the receptionist was nice as well. Would definitely come back if I ever need another piercing/tattoo!

Constantly drive by this place and finally went in - was quickly and professionally taken care of! I got simple earlobe piercing reopened and Bob was super great, informative, and conversational. I can tell everyone here is super passionate about what they’re doing and doing it the right way! Thanks Bob!!

Bob and Santi are both excellent piercers! I have seen both of them periodically for the past 7 years for my ear piercing journey. They always have superior placement, finesse, and styling that sets them apart from anyone else in the profession.I wait for them for hours because they treat everyone with the time and care they deserve for body alterations. They are honest and will say when you shouldnt do a certain piercing, certain number at a time, or other issues that could come up in the healing process and they are always right.You can count on them to deliver quality work every time, I refuse to go to anyone else in Chicago because I know it will not live up to Bob & Santis standards!

I found Insight on a google search for “piercing walk-ins” and glad I did. I have been pierced by Bob for my septum and nose piercing. Perfectly done, perfectly healed. 10/10Unfortunately, I decided to try out another shop (Apocalipsis Tattoos) because they had $20 piercings due to an “Inflation sale”. Biggest regret of my life. I had asked Mario (the piercer) for my nipples to be done and he pierced my areola… I asked for my Medusa and it was crooked and uneven leaving me with constant irritation bumps. It’s like the guy had no idea what he was doing. I felt like a science project or something.I came back to Insight looking a horrific mess & Bob had to remove all of his mistakes and now I have to get them redone. Reader, just skip the bad piercers and come here where an actual professional will take great care of you.I also get tattooed here as well, everyone at Insight is a professional!

Wonderful experience getting my nose pierced here! They stayed open past closing to accommodate all their walk ins, this was one of the only places in wicker park that allowed a walk in piercing on a Sunday. They were very busy and for a good reason, piercing was affordable, service is fast and clean. Robert was so kind and even gave everyone who visited a free shirt. Highly recommend!

I did a walk in appointment for ear piercing, they only do walk in appointments for piercings per what I was told over the phone just a heads up. Bob Jones their piercer is always very friendly and the piercing room is kept incredibly sanitary. Bob is always happy to answer any questions you may have, they have many post, gauge and earring options to choose from. They educate you well on aftercare and provide good soap for aftercare as well.

I had a horrible experience with Insight Studios. I had two piercings on each lobe (my 2nd and 3rd piercings on each lobe) done here. The spacing of those 2 piercings on each ear is completely off—completely. They are incredibly close together, and there is still a great deal of space leftover remaining on each lobe. To make matters worse, the placement on the lobes are completely different when comparing both ears. I pointed these issues out to the piercer when he made the placement dots with ink on my ear, and he became incredibly defensive. I was young and naive and trusted his expertise and rationale, which was a huge mistake as clearly he does not have expertise. I am a jewelry lover and wanted these piercings for years so badly; straight away when I was freshly 18 I used my saved up money to have these piercings done. This is so devastating to me as I am unable to wear studs and most sizes of hoops. I have gone for second opinions from other piercing artists and they agree what a horrible, horrible job this was. I am told there is nothing I can do in terms of adding other piercings on the lobe to make it look right— there is no way for my lobes to look even or for me to have the three piercings on each lobe as I wanted. This makes me so angry and upset and sad. Please don’t make the same mistake I did.Now if this isn’t enough to steer you clear of Insight Studios, four of its employees attended the January 6th, 2021 rally/insurrection and staunchly defended their decisions to do so. You can read about this from a quick Google search on journalism/newspaper sites such as the Chicago Tribune. I had my piercings done before this and I would never have gotten pierced at this place (on top of the horrendous job) if I had known the morally reprehensible character of this studio and the people who work there. I warn you to steer clear!

I highly recommend this company.I recently went to my audiologist for earplugs and the bead from my earring fell out and we were not able to get it back on. I came to this business in hopes that they could get the bead on. I was in the area so did not make an appointment, they were generous and allowed me to do a walk in.The piercing guy popped it in within seconds and with zero pain.The front desk clerk was so beautiful and such a sweetheart.If you want to be taken care of with any piercings, go to this place.

Friendly serivce & literally helped me replace a botched ashley piercing. Their piercer, Bob, was upset on my behalf & got me in & out with a fresh, correct piercing. He also have me a lollipop!! 10/10 peeps & most definately recomend going there for piercings♡

I just got my nose pierced today and it is pure perfection! This was my first time getting a piercing at a tattoo/piercing studio and the experience was amazing. First of all I came to check the place out about two weeks ago because I saw all the good reviews and I read everything on the website. I was very impressed by the kind treatment I received from the moment I walked in the door. The lady at the counter was so polite and didn’t hesitate to answer my questions. The final deciding factor on whether or not to get my piercing done here was how there was no pressure for me to get anything done right then. I met with Santiago that day and he patiently answered all of my questions thoroughly and even gave me his card in case there were other questions I might have later. That left a lasting impression and I was sold! Today I came in right when they opened. The guy at the counter was awesome! He showed me the jewelry, I filled out some paperwork, and Santiago did my piercing quick, easy, and perfect! I barely felt anything and not even one tear fell from my eyes like I had heard others talk about from their experience. The entire process from arriving to leaving took all of 26 minutes and I was a walk-in. I am SO glad I found this place! It was worth every penny. It was my first time at Insight Studios to get a septum piercing and I went based on the recommendation of a friend. The woman who greeted me at the front desk was very polite and thorough of what I needed to fill out and how long of a wait it would be. The shop is super clean and cool. They donate a lot of money to help animals and Im always for places that care about animals as much as I do.I was pierced by Santi and he was awesome! Super chill, kind, and professional. The whole process of getting pierced took no longer than 10 minutes and it was a relaxing experience. He even told me how I can contact someone if I had future questions or concerns.I am really happy with my piercing and experience. I recommend going to this place because the professionalism and service is amazing!

I called as my nose piercing stud (got my nose pierced about 6 months ago) had fallen out the night before and I was nervous it may close. They were able to fit me in as a walk in and get it fixed with new jewelry quite quickly. I decided to add on a cartilage piecing and they were able to accommodate myself and friends easily. Overall the experience was great.

Did a walk in tattoo, and brought a design for a great white shark my sister made. Was brought back immediately and my tattoo done within 30 minutes. The line work is outstanding, and Im pretty sure well fly back to Chicago just for our next tattoos! The earth ending tattoo was not done by them, FYI

I went here for my first tattoo and wasn’t too nervous going in, but once I was inside I soon felt incredibly at ease. The guy at the front immediately helped me out and was very attentive to my needs. I hadn’t booked an appointment but within 15 minutes I was ready to go with the tattoo artist.James did a fantastic job and I absolutely love the results. I got a Freddie Mercury tat and I felt even more at ease when I found out James is a fellow Queen fan. The process was quick, pain was minimal, and everyone there provided excellent service. After getting one tattoo I think I will be getting more down the road, and this is the place I’ll be going.10/10 for service, quality, and cleanliness!

Just got my tattoo done and I absolutely love it here. We live about an hour south and it was definitely worth the drive. Amazingly nice staff, open and willing to changing and working with you if something isn’t quite right and overall beautiful and clean place. Even made conversation with some of the customers and they were extremely nice as-well.

I never leave reviews of places, but I have to make an exception in this case. I came up to Chicago for a metal show and decided last minute to get the septum piercing Ive always wanted. Bob is a legitimately great human being and my entire interaction with this shop is nothing but positive. I will always recommend this shop to anyone who asks.

Came back for a second time to get a couple of piercings done and once again, I am impressed beyond words. The staff is super friendly, approachable and patient. This place is awesome! Kelly was my artist and he did a fantastic job with preliminary communication, drawing up the sketch (quickly!) and an amazing job. The shop is very clean. Sterile look and smell, but not a sterile feeling: staff is friendly, funny, welcoming, and I enjoyed being there for the 2+ hours it took for the tattoo. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great tattoo and amazing staff!

Pricey but they do a thorough job! Wish they let someone go with you when you’re getting it done. Also wish they had gold stud with fake diamond instead of having to get a real diamond but they definitely have a lot of options of silver studs. Or a gold hoop but you have to keep the piercing in for 4 months.

Love this place and my tattoo!!My first impression of the store was that it was clean and the layout was aesthetically pleasing. My experience kept getting better and better. Ryan, the tattoo artist, did a wonderful job! I brought in a few printouts and he based a design off of them and they were great!He made my experience one that I will never forget- he was genuine and good at keeping a conversation!Love my tattoo so much! The piercer used a stud that you would use once site was healed that fit tight against my nose. This lead to the stud resting in the hole and now allowing it to heal. I ended up having to go to a different shop to have them fix his work. This problem is what lead me to leave a review despite the terrible customer service that happened during it.The person I went with also asked if she could come show me the spot he marked for her piercing to see if I liked it and he said no. He told me I was making him uncomfortable by wearing a face mask while waiting for my piercing. When he was doing the piercing at one point he was shaking he was pushing so hard and when I winced he said “are you really in pain? Or do you just think you are?”I would never go back and wish I would have followed my instinct and left the first time he treated us rude.

Awesome experience at Insight! The front desk woman was very helpful in understanding what I wanted and helping me pick out the appropriate jewelry. I didn’t have an appointment, just a walk in and was in and out in about 30 minutes. My piercing was extremely well done and is in the exact place where I wanted it. Would definitely recommend!

Giving two because I’ve heard good things but went there myself. Poor attitude caused us to walk out during the 10 minutes we were left alone at the front desk. Was looking forward to getting tats but energy drained the vibe.

Insight studios is one of the best tattooing and piercing studios in Chicago hands down. Their artists are attentive and take a lot of pride in their work. My wife and I and a good friend have all gone to different tattoo artists here and have all been incredibly impressed with the work. The wait time to get an appointment is the only frustrating thing, though understandable with the talent they have. Highly recommend getting work done here!

Got my nipples pierced here about 2 years ago by Santi and it went great. It was my first visit to any tattoo shop ever and it was very clean and welcoming. I am now considering getting my first tattoo which has led me back online to grab their info/address again, only to realize I definitely owe them a good review from my last visit, so here it is! I recommend coming here.

I was in Chicago for a few days to see my favorite band, and I wanted a tattoo to commemorate the experience. I ended up going to Jeff, who was awesome. He was very easygoing, and we chatted the whole time, which made for a virtually pain-free experience. I was also expecting to shell out a lot of money, because its the big city, but it was very reasonably priced, and still amazing quality work. Im kinda bummed Im not local, because Id go to him for all my tattooing needs :)

We each just got a tattoo here after getting a piercing last time we were in Chicago. Loved them both. Clean professional environment and everyone is extremely friendly. Wendell did a fantastic job on our bike themed tattoos. Definitely going to be stopping in again when were back in the area!

I came here today to grab a new piece of jewelry for my nose ring and had a new septum piercing fixed. Bob was super accommodating, and is totally genuine in actually caring about piercing being done correctly. He made my situation much more comfortable with minimal pain. I would 100 percent recommend insight for any piercing or tattoo. Everyone i interacted with here was just amazing.

Ive had several intricate piercing projects done by Mr Bob Jones and theyve turned out perfect. His demeanor, bedside manners, and overall personality is welcoming, reassuring and calming.His shop is immaculate and an amazing layout. They did a good job. They were very nice. They had some free games to play while you were waiting for whoever was getting a tattoo or piercing. You can have your mask off if thats what you want to do. They also accept walk-ins. No recording there but I recommend you ask.

An awesome experience from start to finish! The woman at the desk set me up right away, and explained to me their available pieces. Got an eyebrows piercing and Im super happy with how it came out!! I got it done with Bob Jones and told him I was anxious about it and asked if he could explain how it all went down. He explained it all in depth and put my mind at ease and I even have a better understanding about how piercings are done! Amazing bedside manner, gave me $10 off my price for being a Columbia Student, two lollipops (i felt like a kid at the doctors office almost haha!) and his card, and sent me on my merry way. I am an out of town customer. This is a clean shop and has friendly staff. But Bob, the piercer, used 18g jewelry in oral surface piercings. This caused many issues for me. The piercings were uneven, even after fixing one for me. I would not recommend this shop for piercings.

My daughter got a helix piercing here. Her piercer Bob Jones was great. Everything was very clean and he gave us great after care instructions.

One of my nipple piercings had been infected for a whole month and wouldnt go away even with antibiotics and all the things the internet/friends told me to do. I had even seen a piercer at another studio but they didnt help me at all.Finally I saw Bob at Insight and he knew exactly what to do and it felt better within an hour! So thankful, I just wish I had gone to him sooner!

Enjoyed my experience. I got my very first tattoo here and I can’t wait for more. They’re a little pricey for what I think tattoos should be, but I also love the cleanliness and professionalism. Definitely would recommend and will be going back soon for more. 🙂

Just got my sternum tattoo done by Jose. He did an amazing job, he was very careful and precise with my tattoo, so the lines and details are very clean. I would def recommend him. I walked in 15 minutes prior to closing to get a septum piercing and was greeted with great hospitality! The studio is very clean and welcoming. Went in as a walk-in with my bestfriend. The receptionist was very nice, and we had the pleasure to get tattooed by Ryan. He took his time to make sure the position and size of our tattoos matched and were just perfect. He was very sweet and professional, has 20 years of experience under his sleeve. 10/10 would recommend.

Bob was great! I got my nose pierced here and the process was so quick and easy. Barely any soreness in the days afterward and he was so calm and precise during.

Im 16 years old and I got a nose piercing here that was done by Bob. The place was very clean and had a great atmosphere, all of the workers were very friendly and helpful. Getting the piercing done was very easy and he answered all my questions I had clearly and explained everything about the process and how to maintain my piercing. My husband and I were in town for the weekend and had planned on getting tattoos while in town. Loved the results, loved the clean, clean, clean shop. It seems that the artists must rent booth space because each of us had different artists and one of us received little extra perks. *aftercare lotion, *aftercare instructions, the other one of us did not. Otherwise we would have rated a definite 5 ⭐. Would be nice if all artists/service were the same.

Ive had piercings done by both Santi and Bob and they are both amazing. Other than being great piercers, theyre both super nice and friendly. They took the time to patiently answer all my neurotic questions and make sure that I was comfortable with every step of the process. I would recommend them to anyone.

I requested a titanium nose stud, as I told them I am very sensitive to all other metals. I was assured I received a titanium stud to alleviate this.. 2 weeks later my piercing is completely infected. Thanks for nothing guys.

Nice people but half my tattoo came out faded and when I went in for a touch up it was impossible to get a for sure appointment and never got the promised email or anything. I came back like 3 times too but no dice. Pretty clean I havent gotten pierced there but its likely better than the tat quality.

Very professional and clean studio! Got my nose pierced and it was quick and easy - loved that he wanted to know if I planned to wear a hoop one day so he could ensure he placed it in the perfect spot so my hoop would sit beautifully once I was able to change out my stud. Great experience, I highly recommend Insight for piercings!

James Eastwood did an awesome job on my tattoo. I called early in afternoon and he was able to fit me in later the same night. James was friendly, informative and did clean work. I will be sure to come back to him and recommend him to friends.

My sister and I went to get separate tattoos this week and could not have been happier with the experience! James worked with us the entire evening and came up with/edited our designs into exactly what we wanted. He was very honest and helpful in providing suggestions when he thought things wouldn’t look right in the long run, or that we might second guess things later on for XYZ reasons. Really appreciated the feedback so I didn’t feel unsure about anything after. Friendly customer service our entire visit, and nothing but patience as we worked through it all and during our last minute hesitations! Definitely recommend this studio to anyone in Chicago.

I got a philtrum piercing in June of 2021 there and it was pierced crooked (the bar goes in straight and then comes out on the right side of my philtrum) and has caused a lot of irritation and pain to my teeth and gums. The piercer was Robert N Jones.

I just got my first tattoo from Kyle at Insight Studios! The place was clean, gorgeous, and he went above and beyond what I had been expecting him to do.My tattoo is of a dandelion on my foot and I was really nervous that the drawing he would do wouldnt be how I was picturing it in my head. Just got an industrial piercing and it went so quicy and the outcome was amazing. I got there early and had little wait time. Loved the experience and everyone was very thorough in making sure I knew what was happening and when. Staff was amazing!

Came in to purchase 16g 100% titanium threadless jewelry. Also to possibly get a piercing.They dont seem to sell Neometal brand jewelry. I was desperate to get my jewelry changed, so I took what I could find. Definitely didnt regret it. The piercer took me into a spacious private room to change my jewelry. My cartilage piercing was healed into a curved shape. He was able to use a taper to get it into a straight barbell. There was absolutely no pain at all! I have had pain every time when changing my jewelry (international threaded). He seemed professional and nice. He seemed to care about my opinion, and was also very knowledgeable. He gave me quick answers when I asked questions. I love the style of this shop. I LOVE cats!The cons of this shop is the music being extreamly loud. Loud music overstimulates me. It was difficult to talk with the front desk person with such loud music. The price of the jewelry was decent compared to other shops in Chicago. They sold basic titanium threadless jewelry for $40. Another shop I was at earlier that day sold basic neometal titanium jewelry for $60. If you are looking for jewelry and dont need it immediately, I suggest getting jewelry online from a site like bodyartforms. I wanted a vertical labret piercing, but the cost of that and the basic jewelry would be $90. It would have been nice to get a discount on jewelry if Im getting a piercing. The location of this shop is a bit uncomfortable. The roads and sidewalks are all damaged, and there is a lot of traffic. The neighborhood doesnt feel too safe. I would recommend this place if you enjoy loud music, bright colors, and a friendly and knowledgeable person to change your jewelry.

I am 16 and I got my nose pierced here. I had to wait two hours because they only have one piercer and he was so rude. He gave me a stud that Slid right out every two seconds. He rolled his eyes when I asked him a question about the piercing. It was terrible. They didn’t even give me anything to clean it with because they were out! I’m never going back here.

Wish I could give more than 5 stars! I came in to get a small tattoo and see if I could get another small one fixed from mistakes by another shop. James immediately gave ideas on what he would do to fix it and how he’d do my other one. I couldn’t have gotten better results. Insight is such a friendly, clean and comfortable environment. Ryan has been my artist for years and I would highly recommend him to anyone but he hasnt always been at this shop too long . The shop is very clean and has good privacy to all the artists areas. Prices are very fair. It is easy to get to, parking can be a challenge.

Ahhhhh!!! I got my first tattoo!!! Ahhhh!!!Im really happy with my experience at Insight Studios. I had been seriously contemplating a tattoo for the last month and I didnt just want to go anywhere to get it. Thanks to Yelp, I found Insight!This past weekend, I told myself I had to just go in and get it done. I walked in about 3pm on Saturday and there were only a couple of people in there. The front desk woman was very nice and told me immediately who Id be paired with after I told her I was getting my first tattoo which would be script of 4 words, which were lyrics to one of my favorite songs by the band Grizzly Bear, on my ribs. I just didnt know what font I wanted.She handed me an iPad that was already on a website with a million fonts. I knew I wanted more of a handwritten script. As I was going through the site, I felt myself get more and more nervous, but excited!Jason, the tattoo artist that was taking me, checked up on me a few times. After the first couple I asked him his opinion of the fonts I chose and he was very honest with his answers about whether or not the letters would be too close to one another, or too small, etc. After what seemed like 30 minutes, I finally chose a font. It was go time!Jason prepped his area and I noticed how CLEAN and bright the entire space was. Everything he was using he was unwrapping for the first time. I work in the healthcare industry, so it was just as hygienic as a clinic!He set me up at his table and when I was prepped and ready, he said, Alright, here we go!. I swear it took him less than 10 minutes to complete the job. Not gonna lie, because it was on my ribs, there were some parts of it that were definitely painful, but it was bearable and Jason was really cool about the whole thing.I read in other reviews that the prices here are a little on the high side, but I will say it was less than I expected to pay. Im so, so, so, so in love with my tattoo! Jason was awesome, Insight is awesome. I highly recommend this place, especially for first timers!

Shops nice & clean. Some staff was cool but, the guy who did mine was not friendly. I got something very tiny but, it was sentimental with my best friend while I was home for Christmas. He made me feel like I was wasting his time. He gave me no care instructions at all or even said thank you for my business. It was 2 lines & 1 is blown out. Im just sad that this experience, I had been waiting so long, just ended up not being good.Had to pay the minimum, which I understand but, I will likely have to pay near that same amount AGAIN to have the blow out covered by my guy in CO. Unfortunately, not impressed.

I would not recommend Chris at Insight Studios ever. I came for a walk-in and it was very busy. Chris did my tattoo (the monopoly electric company lightbulb). The tattoo is about an inch and by my ankle. My tattoo is completely botched and will need to be corrected or removed. Not happy with the service there at all. My brother was also with me to get a tattoo and Chris was totally rude to him would not give my brother five minutes to explain what he was able to get for the size he wanted. My brother was next to be tattooed after me and when I showed him my tattoo I paid for mine and we left. Chris does not have the skill, patience, or customer service a tattoo artist in Chicago should have.

Ive only seen one artist here, Chris Orta, but hes superb. Reception is great and approachable, all the artists seem to get along and push each other to always improve. Clean, bright, everything you need from a shop.

My wife and I got tattoos here a couple months ago from Johnny McDevitt, and we are both thrilled with them. Theyre crisp and presice, and he was really helpful during the planning process. Definitely will be back.

Went in the other day for a new jewel for my philtrum piercing. When picking out the jewelry the front desk person was really confused and kept forgetting which color I was asking for and I had to remind him several times that I wanted the “indigo” color. He ended up putting in “teal” anyway, and I didn’t realize until I got home in better lighting that I had received a different color than the one I picked out. When I called the next afternoon to inform them of the mistake, the piercer was very defensive and told me that I was wrong. When trying to clarify he called me “aggressive” but agreed that I can come in and get it switched to the correct color. Upon coming back to the store I was told immediately that I was in the wrong and that the piecercer and the owner even “checked the cameras” to make sure I was in the wrong, as if this was a situation of theft. The work they did was overall a decent quality but the piercers attitude made feel very criminalized and attacked, and as a Black woman I certainly won’t return here.

Would not recommend going here to buy or get a piercing. The service is extremely slow. The line to buy a piece of jewelry for an existing piercing was an over an hour long. Save your money and time by going elsewhere

Wendell Frazier was my tattoo artist today. This is my 3rd tattoo here. Very clean and professional. He gave me exactly what I wanted.

Had work done here by James Eastwood which I would rate 5/5. However, when trying to get a new piece done I emailed them...Called the shop.... Left messages multiple times and never once got a call back. If they dont have time for repeat customers then Ill take my business elsewhere.Edit:Yes, I literally called once weekly, then every day for a week. He was in fact in, but didnt take my call. I get that, hes doing work for someone else and doesnt want to interrupt, but never called me back. The secretary promised hed call me back. I live in Michigan now, wanted to make a trip to Chicago specifically for this, so I couldnt just stop in. Its not fake news, its what happened. And like I said, if you guys are too busy for a loyal repeat customer, then more power to you, but this isnt hashtag bull, its reality.

Got my first tattoo here at Insight Studios. The place is super clean, super comfy, cool atmosphere, friendly staffs, experienced artists. Got my tattoo done by Wendell. Very nice!

I needed a cover up on my wrists and both tattoos were originally done by Johnny. I made an appointment to discuss options and he stated they couldnt be covered up without a solid black piece of work. I showed him tons of ideas and he refused saying He didnt like doing that kind of work. I seriously felt like HE wanted to determine what I covered his original art up with. Overall I went to Dream City Tattoos and Lebster did two beautiful Mandala cover ups. I called to get my deposit back and Johnny stated he wouldnt give it back because I wasted his time. I feel like I should charge him, the stencil artist , for wasting my time! If cover ups arent your forte, refer me to someone else, dont be a rude jerk and tell me what you want to do to my body.

My sister and I came in to get matching tattoos on her birthday. The staff was friendly and helpful and we were able to get them both done within an hour.

Came in for a nonprofit fundraiser - and I will not be back soon. Chris was my artist, and he was curt and rude. He was very resistant to actually working with me on my design and argued with me when the design proof he presented based off of my sketches wasn’t what I wanted. He then gave me a speech about how it’s “my preference” vs how the shapes should work to him. Yes of course it’s my preference - it’s going to be on MY body forever. And he did this holier-than-thou, belittling rant right in front of a shop full of people, which was highly embarrassing. I’ve heard good things about other artists here but now I see other bad reviews specially about Chris and I am annoyed that I got him over others.I came in excited and left self-conscious and unsettled. The only reason this review isn’t 1 Star is because of how much the shop itself helps animal shelters through its fundraisers.

Had to wait for a looong time, but to be fair, we were walk-ins. Still, staff worked hard to get us done before we had to get on our flight. Very satisfied. The chats we had with our artist were so much fun!

What I initial rating a 5 star review has turned south. Two months into healing and tedious aftercare, I’ve now spent $250 in doctor bills, prescriptions, and another piece of jewelry/install as I was improperly pierced here. That doesn’t include the initial cost of the piercing at Insight.I had such a great experience with the kind people here, but DO NOT let them pierce you with a hoop for your first piercing. The studio I followed up with gave me more instruction and education in 10 min than I received in the hour I was here having this done initially. For reference, I did not have my piercing reevaluated in Chicago.

Went there in a day they were doing walk-ins and was given a wait to time that was about an hour and a half under estimated. Then aft after waiting got my tat designed and what I thought was my outline was my actual tat. There was no detail or or anything to it after it was all said and done. Im really disappointed with this place especially after seeing the work from their books. Will be getting it fixed by my regular artist

Everyone at insight is a consummate professional. This is the body modification center done right. New work, coverups, or even removal. Plus piercing. You have to do yourself the favor of visiting them.
