I recently had the pleasure of getting a tattoo done by Garrett Harper and he is at the top of his craft. Not only is he incredibly talented, but also incredibly professional and his attention to detail is unmatched. It was a phenomenal experience from start to finish.I highly recommend Mayday but dont expect to walk in off the street. Youll need an appointment.

All I want is my $250 back. It’s impossible to get any response from Kate. Since she clearly stated this is her job and has no correlation with the shop or artist. I’m not a Karen by any means but my money is being held hostage and waiting 7 months for a response is beyond unprofessional especially when I was more than understanding about the abundance of emails they receive. I was so excited to get a tattoo but now I just feel absolutely scammed. I tried to dispute the payment through my bank but because it was a quick pay there’s no option to dispute. I get I had to cancel my first appointment, mind you I gave more than the 24 hour notice required, but come on. Now I’ve waited a year to be rescheduled? I’m also not one to make reviews but this is the only way to get their attention since there’s no phone number connected and my emails never get a response.UPDATE: OVER A YEAR LATER AND MY MONEY IS STILL NOT RETURNED AND I NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE TO RESCHEDULE. WHAT A SCAM. BE CAREFUL!!!

Garrett Harper is hands down one of the most gifted, meticulous, and professional tattoo artist I have come to know. As a foreigner visiting Chicago from Singapore, it’s always pleasant to meet someone who cares about what is going on you. I don’t think the word regret is in any of his clienteles’ dictionaries. Till the next visit Garrett!

I was tattooed by DJ at Mayday and had a great experience. DJ is incredibly talented and I was so impressed by his ability to draw my tattoo on me free handed. It made it custom to me and my body and I really appreciated that. I am really excited about the lettering work that DJ is doing and can’t wait for him to finish the rest of my leg! DJ also has good bedside manner and made me feel very comfortable while getting tattooed. Go get tattooed by him now and ask about his lettering work!

Staff is very friendly and professional! Im currently about halfway done with a sleeve and couldnt be happier with the results. DJ has done a phenomenal job and has been a lot of fun to work with. I live nearly three hours away but its been well worth it, we have even planned out another project for the future. Hands down one of the best shops around.

I just cannot express how much I loved being tattooed here. Pony is so professional, kind, and fun to talk to, and my tattoo is exactly what I envisioned. Came here a couple weeks ago to see DJ Pearson. He specializes in black/geometric. I booked my appointment with him earlier this summer for November. His books fill up quick!He was patient and listened to what I wanted (double headed snake) and he came up with a piece that I absolutely am in love with. I had a previous tattoo and I was worried about working this one in. I just wanted a nice flow to it on my arm. It ended up looking even better than I could have imagined! He works quick yet super high quality as well.We talked about adding more my arm in the spring and he was already throwing ideas out for me. Definitely will be coming back to see him when his books open up again.The studio is also incredibly clean and organized and everyone there just seemed super chill. Over all, he’s a super chill guy, great convo, and very professional and extremely talented!

I am beyond thrilled that I found DJ to do my tattoos. I’ve had a lot of ideas for tattoos that he made happen. I keep coming back to him because I’m always impressed by his work and I trust him. His work is phenomenal and I would recommend him to anyone who is interested in getting geometric/blackwork designs. His ability to connect to his clients and execute their ideas is always creative and original. He is professional, skillful, and thoughtful. He works quickly and efficiently too, which is a bonus. The shop itself is well kept and everyone who works there has been very welcoming and nice.

I started a very important coverup project almost a year ago on my arm with DJ.Not only did he exceed my expectations but, gave me a piece of art that I am proud to show off! I was so pleased with my sleeve; that I’ve started a full chest piece/coverup as well with him!DJ is incredibly personable, respectful, clean and genuine. What an amazing experience. I had the opportunity to get a piece done by DJ Pearson. He’s a truly talented artist, in addition to being really professional. I booked the appt. in advance because DJ’s books fill up quickly. He was really accessible and easy to communicate with. He specializes in black ink geometric patterns which are absolutely beautiful. We talked and I showed him pictures of the work he’s done that I was interested in. He drew something up same day for me, and the first piece I was presented with was amazing. He got the stencil printed, and the placement was perfect. I love the piece he did on the back of my arm. I was comfortable during the whole process. We had great conversation, good tunes in the background. I’m going back to him for another piece soon, and I can’t wait. I’ve been recommending his work to all of my friends, and have received so many compliments. If you’re looking for a truly one of a kind piece by an amazing artist, DJ is the guy for you.

I have had 4 tattoos done by Pony and every single one is awesome! I love this guy! He is very personable and sweet. My wifey and I just had matching tats done and once again, he knocked it out of the park!!If I decide to have any more work done, I would trust no other.

I booked an appointment with Gary after a frustrating search for an artist that seemed to have the skill I was looking for. A lot of the hurdles I found were in finding an artist who was ok with the simple piece I wanted who also showed enough skill to do a piece on African American skin. I was told many times color just wasnt possible but Gary proved them wrong. He had no problem giving me a color tattoo that looks excellent without a second thought. Hes very knowledgeable at what he does so dont hesitate to go to him though all the work coming out of that shop is extremely good.

DJ is a national treasure. His passion and professionalism are evident with all of his pieces. His attention to detail from his lines and dot work are second to none. Very friendly, funny and easy to talk to. Mayday Tattoo In Chicago is extremely clean, and the style of design of the shop is best described in two words “Da Bomb” I will continue to get new art from DJ for many years to come.

Went in for a tummy tuck scar cover up. Was super nervous to get this tattoo done but Dj Pearson was more than accommodating. What an excellent and stress free experience. As a lady who’s a little on the shy side he made me super comfortable especially having a tattoo near such an intimate area. Dj did his best to be super gentle, respectful, and attentive. My tattoo turned out exactly how I hoped it would and beyond exceeded my expectations. I never thought I would have such a beautiful piece of art on my body. The shop was clean and everyone was super friendly. Looking forward to getting more work done by Dj. 100/10

I got tattooed by DJ, he was very professional and did a great job! The atmosphere of the shop was very relaxed and I felt super comfortable the whole time. DJ does his lettering tattoos freehand as well, which is awesome.

I got a portrait of my favorite music artist tatted by Pony. This was my first time visiting this shop, and I knew from the moment I was greeted at the door, I wouldnt go to anyone else! The whole experience was UNreal! I drove 2+ hrs to see him, and it was totally worth it!

I highly recommend this place. After many years of searching for the right artist I’m so glad I went with Pony. He’s so dope! did an amazing job on my tattoo!

This place is amazing. I was there that for an event and the artists who did my friend and are were amazing. Super friendly, open to questions and very happy to make tweaks to designs. Its very atmospheric and gives off a chill but professional vibe.

Everything about this place is different than what you’re used to. By different I mean better. It’s just a cool place, the artists are unreal, the atmosphere is super laid back and it’s very well kept. It’s an added bonus that you get to check out other people getting high quality work. DJ is who has done my work but everyone there is on another level. Highly recommend!

The talent that come out of this shop is unbelievable!Update almost 7yrs later .... Im still religiously coming in to see Gary Parisi who is now working on a full leg sleeve. His work just keeps getting better and more impressive as the years go onIm a LIFER!

I came here recently to do a half sleeve with Tom. The shop was very clean and everyone had good vibes. Tom did an amazing job with my piece and made the entire process smooth and as painless as possible.

Lets be honest. every artist is different. ive dealt with 2. pony is amazing! hands down, the best artist in the damn country. this goes for his customer service skills as well. however gary is another story. he has an ego as high as the roof, makes all of his clients wait hours for him, and doesnt seem to care. i had many problems with him. when i brought up all the issues with him, he threatened to blacklist me if i bad mouthed him. im sure he will respond to this review with his arrogant lies, but i have to get it out there. i was going to file a complaint with the bbb, however they said i had to do it against the company as a whole, and i was not about to have that mark against pony. so a google review will have to do. garys work may be great, but his attitude does not match his artwork. i have so many more details i could share, but far too much for a review. I would recommend pony 150% though! and if it was just pony running the business, my review would be 5 stars.

Pony is the absolute best in the business. Has a great vision for what you want and how its going to fit your body. The shop has a great atmosphere and you feel like your just hanging out with some friends. I surely wont be going elsewhere.

Ive been searching for a great cover up artist for over 4 yrs, talked with many places in Chicago, and then I got to talking with my co-workers recommending Mayday Tattoo co, they get work done by Garrett and Ponyboy. When I came in to meet some of them, I was immediately sent to see Garys work online..I finally met Gary at the tattoo show in Rosemont 2017 and brought my design and yes I waited 3 months later to start it but highly satisfied I did.. Spoke to other local shops, new and old and they told me stick with him and waited it out, you wont be disappointed..Well Im 13 sessions to date and the looks, and wows at the amazing work and so precise and detail that the wait was well worth it, Im not disappointed at all..Pics will be posted soon as the sleeve is complete..Way to go Gary....thanks

Gary and the artists at Mayday are finaminal. Its almost unbelievable what Gary is capable of doing on my cover up as well as fresh skin. Best decision ever to ask Gary to finish and fix my tattoo!
