10/10 had a fantastic experience here! David (@kalmtattoos) was my artist and did an absolute amazing job! He was extremely friendly and caring during the entire session, from the moment I walked in to when I walked out. He was very professional and efficient during consultation, making sure I got the design I truly wanted. He also kept on checking in if I was doing okay during the actual tattooing time, which was greatly appreciated, not to mention the great music he put on haha. Also in general a very great looking shop, very clean and great vibes all around. Will definitely be back for my next tattoo in the future!

My tattoo artist was David, and I love how it turned out! While showing the design, he provided three different sizes and explained which ones would look better for the location. He patiently worked with me as I played around with the positioning of the tattoo. The process was not painful, and he would ask if I was doing okay. Overall, David is a dedicated artist, who makes sure his client is happy and comfortable.

My friends and I all came in as walk-ins recently and everyone was very kind and luckily could fit us all in. We had Nikki, David, and Mikael. They were all incredible!! Super detail oriented and some of the best, most compassionate artists I’ve ever seen. Their budget flexibility was amazing! Incredible talent too. One of my friends got her first ever tattoo with David and he made it such an amazing experience for her. We will all definitely be back very soon!

Amazing experience! I’ve been to the shop before, and David took really good care of me I was really helpful when it came to picking the size and thickness of my design. Not to mention, the tattoo came out great! It’s really hard to find tattoo artists that can properly tattoo darker skin so I will be coming back here for sure.

David did my tattoos. It was my first time and I got 2 small ones on my right arm. Literally had hands as light as a feather and was really cool and friendly. He worked with me in making sure I was comfortable with my entire experience. I am so happy with design and placement of my tattoo. I got 3 ear piercings as a walk-in. I was nervous but was confident during the service that all would be well. He saw I was nervous and was very patient with me. We laughed and joked. Just got my tat done with David, I have 8 tattoos and have worked with several artists in the past, I got two little ones from him, and let me tell I have never met an artist that takes their job more seriously than him. He was very particular about making sure he got the details I wanted right…. I’m super happy with the results, definitely coming back for another one with him, for sure!

I came here over the weekend to get a tattoo from a good friend David and I am so satisfied with the piece that he did for me. I got palm tattoos done and David was so nice and thorough the entire process. From laying the stencil to doing the tattoo and aftercare. He really cares about his work and wants to make sure everything is perfect for you before you leave. All the staff here is really nice too! Shoutout to Brandon and Nicole! Walked in to Mind Crusher Tattoo and had a wonderful experience. I got an original butterfly design tattooed by David Castillo. He was very understanding about wanting a cool design and needing to get the placement right. He worked very efficiently but didn’t rush. Definitely recommend this shop if you want a chill comfortable vibe and cutting edge tattoo art!

From the first day I messaged to the final stroke of ink on my piece, Kevin was overall, great to work with. He was excited about the piece from day one and channeled that into each step of the process. He listened to my concerns and was not against suggesting numbing solutions for the areas of my leg I expected to hurt more than I thought I could handle. His dedication on getting color to pop on dark skin is something almost impossible to find in the industry and I was so happy to see how carefully he thought about tint, tone and placement to give me something that will last.And he works fast! I got a large calf piece that I expected to push 6 hours and he was done in just about 4!The shop is also great. The team here chat easily and get along well which inspires a comfortable atmosphere. The shop is clean and there are black out curtains hanging around each station for privacy if needed.What a great neighborhood spot. Im glad I checked it out and Id be happy to come back again.Thank you!

My previous review was about an artist who sadly is no longer here, so this is updated! Kevin Owings did my tattoo, and my god, the work is amazing! I sat for four hours, and Kevins linework is so neat and so crisp! Kevin is a very gentle artist and barely hurt! I wont lie though, 3 and a half hours in, I hit my pain threshhold and Kevin gave me papertowel to use as a stressball. Hes very accomodating, up front, direct and honest. All things I look for in the man who is now my regular artist!Kevin keep that tattoo needle smoking, Mamas gonna need a new one soon!

Stopped by the shop yesterday. i had been taking a week off due to a personal loss and was hoping to get a new tattoo done before it ended, which was today. David was kind enough to take my walk-in appointment. I showed him a few pictures of what I had in mind, and he ended up drawing out the design and finished it off as a tattoo all within a few hours. The piece ended up better than what I had imagined. Im very grateful and impressed with such great work done within such short time. I highly recommend Mind Crusher Tattoo. I worked with Davi Nil it was first tat. She made me feel Very comfortable and she made sure the tattoo was exactly where I wanted it and what I wanted and we made numerous corrections and she was very patient with me. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get their first tattoo call her she knows what she’s doing I would go back and I plan on going back for my second and going to her.

I have gotten all of my tattoos from this place. All the artists are fantastic and amazing at what they do, and the actual tattoos are very affordable compared to what other shops charge. Scheduling an appointment is very easy and the atmosphere of the shop is very welcoming. If you are looking for anime-esque style tattoos btw, I highly recommend going to Davi. Kevin is one of the chillest guys you’ll get to know, Jay is always good for a solid laugh, have yet to get a piercing from Nicole but definitely will be. Nestor was with a customer, but when he was able to take a break he gave me his undivided attention and help. Kevin Owings of Mind Crusher Tattoo is AMAZING!! Bar none! I wanted a tattoo that looked like henna. He drew up some pieces for me and was very attentive as I told him what I liked or didn’t like. He even went so far as to do some research about henna and talk to some ladies who do henna for a living to learn what each piece means and the importance of each symbol. He’s very “community is family” oriented and even offered to help out when I got myself in a situation. One time, he let me use his office for a call that I needed to take so that the noise of the shop (tattoo guns, music) wouldn’t be heard (LOL). He genuinely cares about his work and his clients. I have found my go-to tattoo artist. You will not be disappointed with Kevin at Mind Crusher. Added bonus- the place is very clean and they do take steps to make sure that everything is sanitary and COVID safe. Did I mention that I LOVE this place?!?

I struggled for the longest time to find the right place to get my next tattoo after moving into the city and honestly this place was amazing. It was clean, friendly, and has insanely talented artists!I highly recommend J! I was a walk in just wanting to talk designs and he was able to fit me in and give me more than I could ask for! He made me feel super comfortable with asking for changes or to move that tattoo, he went above and beyond in making sure I was comfortable. He continuously checked in during the session and was as enthusiastic about doing the tattoo that meant so much to me as I was about getting it. I got little cat ears to represent my cat of 20 years, passing. He put so much detail into a simple design that I teared up when I saw the final result. He’s super patient too I worked with him to do my Medusa piece we got in the first session looking forward to the next session he had lots of patience with me in that piece and executed it perfectly. Two of us got tattoos with Tiffany and Jay. Both were amazing. They communicated well before the appointment and worked with us to find a time that worked. They cared about the quality of the work and really helped a first timer be at ease. We will definitely get our next tattoos there.

This place has gone downhill since the owner moved out of state.On the hot hot hot summer day I went there the AC was barely working & tattooers were dripping in sweat.It is really really dirty. I accidentally looked at the ceiling & its covered in dust that looks to be about 100 years old.I hope ownership can come back from his Shiney new clean tattoo shop in Cali & cleans this place up.

Best tattoo artist in Chicago is Kevin Owings! Hes the REAL DEAL! I love the tat he did for me, as it has special meaning. Great color and shading. I highly recommend Mind Crusher Tattoo for your tattoo and piercing needs!!

Davi was FANTASTIC. I wanted 2 text-based tattoos, as delicate as possible without compromising legibility. Both turned out beautifully! Davi was able to make some adjustments to a font I really liked but had some weird extra thick areas, and she thinned it out and the end result was exactly what I wanted. She was very responsive and great to communicate with, and even managed to squeeze my appointment in earlier than expected. I also got my first tattoo at Mind Crusher 8 years ago. Mind Crusher is a great shop. all the artists really know what theyre doing, and work with you to translate your vision into a great tattoo.

Ricky was super friendly and did my tattoo exactly how i wanted it. The entire staff was so funny and nice. This past Friday was Friday the 13th and Mind Crusher had the best deal around. They were slammed all day long with a line down the block. While we were waiting, the owner, Kevin, was handing out waters to all the customers waiting in between laying ink. Kevin is who ended up tattooing me and was such a cool dude and an even more talented artist. My overall experience here was excellent and do recommend and will be back.

Over-all an amazing place with friendly and chill staff, cleanliness, and really good artists. The owner has good connections with all the staff so it makes it really comfortable being there. I dont even know where to start with this review to make you understand why I will always come back here. I got my first tattoo yesterday by Kevin, who owns the shop. For my first tattoo I wanted something big and beautiful, and I knew I was going to do that. A lot of other shops turned my idea down because they thought I couldnt handle it. One of the great things about Kevin is that he believed in me and he kept encouraging me they this was going to be awesome and that he KNEW I could do it. I was honestly a little skeptical that he was going to give me this amazing first tattoo with the price he was asking for. But he really is a man of his words. Throughout the time we were together he offered me countless drinks and treats, and that was very appreciated since I have such a sweet tooth. Not only was Kevin a great and welcoming artist so were his coworkers Luke, Rick, and Jon. They all were great company and made me feel very comfortable. The crazy part of the day for me was when I was waiting for the bus after the tattoo and Kevin offered me a ride home. Truly a gentleman! I will continue coming here and telling everyone about my great experience. I cant thank you guys enough!

I got a Friday the 13th tattoo and this was my favorite tattoo experience so far! We were in line for about 6 hours but it was the best time! They gave us water and chatted with us when they took breaks.By the time I got in, it was past midnight. The artists in the shop were still laughing and joking even though they had been tattooing for 12 hours already. I cannot recommend this place enough! He was professional, worked fast for the amount of work that needed to be done and charged me a great price for some insane work. All of the tattoos I want are of great meaning to me, so Ill definitely be back and recommend anyone go to Mindcrusher and see Kevin. P.S. Kevin understands how to put color on darker skin, a taken unfortunately all too rare in the tattoo world so if you are darker like me, dont be afraid to reach out, he will make sure the colors pop on you!

The service and tattoo were great. I believe the artist that assistant me name was Luna. She was very direct and professional.My only feedback is being more consistent with the covid precautions. They do direct you to wash your hands upon entry but lack telling patrons to wear their masks at all times.I would go back for another tattoo. We must support our local businesses.

I found my number tattoo shop in Chicago! Its hard to find that.. My first place was chi town tattoo shop and it was ok until I kept going back and they would raise the price higher and higher.. Almost the opposite I get charged more for returning. Not to long ago I stopped by a tattoo shop near my home in Rogers park and felt welcomed and speaking to the manager we came to an agreement on prices which was awesome! Most artist are firm with a high price but the owner Kevin came to a healthy conclusion getting my ink done for a steal price! Obviously if you want something bigger and detailed price varies but at the end of the day It felt giving up my hard earned cash and getting some great ink in returned. I no longer need to go to another artist after finding mind crusher. Close to home and great deals everyday. Im a artist myself so I appreciate the honesty and price points. I tell all my friends who are looking for ink! Great staff and great art. Im going back soon to finish my leg pieces and excited

I came into to get a black line work skull done by Mariana. Mariana is new to the US but did a hell of a job with my tattoo! Kevin talked to me and made me feel welcomed right away! (As it was my first time at Mind Crusher) I’ve been hesitant to get tattoos done during the Pandemic. But Mind Crusher was very clean and sanitize. Before coming into the shop everyone must wash their hands! I have multiple other tattoos and have been to other shops but this shop felt very welcoming and I had a great experience. Well as you all know it’s been trying times for us all. I walked into this shop a couple months back assuming I could get a tattoo. Ha! Due to rules the shop can only see so many people per day. Thanks COVID. I had the chance to talk to Kevin about what work I wanted done. We set up an appointment 3 months out. It was well worth the wait. Not only is Kevin such an amazing artist. He’s an incredible human being. He’s so reasonable on his pricing and always takes care of people who have served or are in a rather dark place. From the loss of a parent who wants to memorialize them to cancer survivors wanting his work to cover our port scars. I truly believe with Kevin being the owner as fabulous as his work is he should be charging hundreds of dollars an hour. But he’s fair and that’s another amazing quality about him. Please folks be patient when contacting the shop because they are busy and have a lot of regulations to follow from COVID. It will be worth your wait!!! That’s only if you want great work done by a very kind and talented man. I will be making more appointments down the road to have other work done by Kevin. I’m so excited because the tattoo I had done today looks amazing. Thanks Kevin for being such a badass!!!! I will definitely be telling everyone about you and your work.

I went for the Friday 13th flash sale and was surprised by the great Jay Sayre; he made a great work, with a very cool attitude and extremely professional - this is my second tattoo, but Im ready for the next one.The whole team was extremely polite and funny, keeping in touch every now and then and making sure we were all having a good time.

The place was nice and chill. They played music that you find calming. They were very kind and lenient. If you asked for breaks they gave you breaks, if you ask for water they gave you water, they took their time and all around is a good environment and atmosphere. My tattoo came out perfect and it was for a really good price. I highly recommend going there.

I was cold and they put the heat on. I needed something to rest my head on, so he gave me a roll of paper towels. It was a long 2 hours, but well worth it. Kevin took his time and did an AMAZiNG JOB. This has been the most chill shop I have ever been to. Great vibe, great people. Major shout out to Kevin Owen who covered up my old lotus with a new amazing lotus I am completely in love with and also has me in love with my body again! Ricky T is my go to person!!! He always delivers exactly what I am hoping for and usually upgrades my ideas. He is always professional, always on time, his tattoos are of high quality 💫. I have 6 tattoos by him and they all have a great meaning to me. I keep coming back because he understands my vision and he knows how much these tattoos mean. He is great with color too and gets which colors work well for different skin tones. Always grateful for Rick and his incredible work!

This shop and this owner are AMAZING!They have done all my larger tattoos and they are all great work! Prices can’t be beat!In fact, we moved away and my husband and I are planning a January trip back to Chicago, with a stop in to see Kevin and the crew for new ink!See ya in January!

Mind crusher is great, the staff is super friendly and clean. I’ve been going to Kevin for over 2 years and he’s done more than 6 pieces on me. I’ve reccomended this place to all my friends, and a lot of them have gone and been more than satisfied. They also communicates really well with clients, honestly the best place to get a tattoo in Chicago.

This is an amazing shop. Ive been going here for 7 years even after moving away, one day of any trip home is spent here. The prices are great. Ive been tattooed by every artist in the shop and they all do amazing work and Im sure youll find someone whos style meets what youre looking for. Going to this shop doesnt feel like someone tattooing you to get money like many other shops do but instead like hanging out with friends. I could write you paragraphs about the artists styles and personalities because they are really great people who do amazing tattoos but instead you should really go check it out for yourself.

I was nervous about going to a tattoo shop because I have ONE tattoo the size of a DIME (LOL). Kevin the owner was incredibly nice! He made me feel really comfortable and took time and care with me. So two weeks ago I got my second tattoo from Mind crusher. I could not have been happier. My tattoo was done by Nicole, now from what I was told is that she is fairly new to tattooing. I was a little nervous at first but once the tattoo was done, I was extremely satisfied so much that last week I went again and saw Nicole and had her do another tattoo for me. I do not like the location of the shop but will be making the drive just to see Nicole. I already have 2 other tattoos that I want to get and I cannot wait to make the drive to see Nicole. I am pretty excited that I know have a tattoo artist in Illinois. Nicole was also very professional and friendly which is pretty rare nowadays.

Everyone in the shop is really friendly they are very welcoming and easy to talk to and have conversation with. Brandon did this tattoo and lots of my other tattoos amazingly i recommend asking for Brandon if you can you will not regret it.

Gave this place multiple opportunities. Had 3 tattoos done here and I regret 2 of them. Only reason I dont regret the 3rd one is because it is my wedding ring. We asked for them to look identical...got it done at the same time. We realize in the end that they were different sizes (gauges).The owner, Kevin, is completely full of himself and his work. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere actually decent. You pay for what you get.On the other hand they do have good artists there. Just the owner, Kevin, in general is unprofessional.

I went in for my first tattoo on a whim and I was super nervous, but Eva was so nice and did an astounding job. I was actually left speechless. If you dont make an appointment theres obviously a wait, but the couch is comfy. I could not be happier with the work done or the atmosphere. I will definitely be back.
