I will recommend this shop Tyler has done a couple of my tattoos and a few of my family members as well. Im very happy with his work also the cleanliness / vibe of this shop.

My wife has been tattooed here by Erik Thvedt multiple times and has always had a great experience. Today was the first time I was tattooed here, also by Erik. Hes a fantastic artist and very professional. He also has a huge positive energy and wonderful to be around and talk to while being tattooed in a clean and professional environment.I highly recommend this shop and all their artists.

I been getting tattooed here since 2010- I have a half sleeve in 2010, thigh piece ~2011, shoulder ~2016, upper arm in 2024 totalling around 45-50 hours of tattooing. It is a clean tattoo shop with professional, friendly staff. I drive almost 2 hours from Indiana to come here - Luke has done all mine and I would also recommend Eric (and Eddie for your piercings!) My tattoos have aged very well over the years with very little fading. I always get stopped by people in public who want to look at them or ask me where I got them done.

I got my daith ear piercing here in January. I followed the aftercare instructions, but I developed a bump so I went to another piercing place for help. They looked at it and explained it was not pierced correctly/perpendicular, and since it went through my skin unevenly it would never be able to heal. They also said that the ring I was given is too thin, poor quality and jagged and it was actively cutting into my ear. I paid $100+ for bad quality jewelry and a unhealable piercing!

Rude service. No need for that nonsense and bad energy. I’ll take my $5,000 elsewhere

Everyone at the shop is super friendly. I went here to get my first tattoo recently and the process was clean, efficient and I love my tattoo. Ive gotten so many compliments on how clean the lines are, Sean is awesome!

I went to see Eddie to fix a botched ear piercing I received from another business. Within 30 seconds of meeting Eddie, I was immediately at ease and knew I was in good hands! He explained everything so well regarding the entire process. He answered all of my questions with ease. Nor did he make me feel bad that I should have just gone to see him in the first place! Eddie and Top Notch will be the only place I go with anything piercing related!

Came in for a tattoo honoring my late son. Scott drew up a design that incorporated my sons favorite Disney character. Overall the experience was good, but my tattoo still seems to be healing after a month, and the colors didnt turn out like I expected. Somewhat disappointed because it is for my son.I hope it heals and maybe I can get him to fix my colors. Otherwise, very clean facility and they are super careful to avoid infections.

I got both of my ear lobes pierced at Top Notch, and I’m only giving an extra star for the in-shop experience, as it was comfortable, quick, and painless. The shop itself is pretty vibey and really clean, and the piercer, Eddie, was super nice and knowledgeable. It’s been almost a month and my piercings have stayed in great condition with little to no discomfort since. While the execution of the service was great, almost everything else was not.This is some of the worst and inconsistent communication I have ever experienced in a professional setting. I am not upset over what their actual pricing was, but rather that I was never told the same price twice. When I initially called for pricing, I was told on the phone $75 total + jewelry. So I went in that night, had my wonderful experience, and when I got rung up by the piercer I’m charged $160… I didn’t make a scene over it because I’m not that type of person, and I of course still tipped appropriately. A while later, I called the shop and asked again what the total was to get two lobes pierced including jewelry, and the girl on the phone told me $130… then I messaged their Facebook page, where I was told $75 each ear including jewelry which would be $150… none of which is the $160 I was charged. I then explained my situation and then they decided to add in that I probably got jewelry that costed more which was never communicated to me in the moment, and that the girl that told me $130 just “misspoke”. I then asked via Facebook how much my bar changes would cost before I come back in, because the peri we had told me it would be $20 total, and they said it’s $15 per ear which is $30. This business should really figure out how to get their people to quit “misspeaking” so much and be more consistent on their prices and the communication on it. I’m disappointed because I wanted to give this shop my business as I really did have such a wonderful physical experience, but I can’t help but feel that my money is being played with here, so I’ll be taking it somewhere else.

I had a few piercings done earlier today and, no joke, were literally done by an angel. Samantha is the absolute sweetest and incredibly gentle, despite the fact that she is gleefully shoving metal though you. (just kidding!) Overall, I’m absolutely thrilled with the experience - the shop was super clean and chill, everyone I encountered was nice and helpful, and Samantha was amazing. I’ll definitely be back!!!! 🦄

He’s created pieces for me that went above what I could have imagined. Tyler’s very kind and patient person, he’s also very easy to connect with and talk to. Very professional yet relaxed. It was 3 of us getting our ears pierced including a seven year old. Johnny was brilliant at making her comfortable and efficient at making it quick. And she was a trooper. For myself it was a second set of holes snd first time with needle piercing. Best ear piercing experience ever. Highly recommend! My earlobes are very happy!

My daughter wanted her ears pierced for her 6th birthday. I called around and most shops seemed to try and talk me out of it. I saw a piercing post from Samantha in a group I’m in so reached out to her. She was so sweet and encouraging right from the start. The experience itself went far better than I could have ever imagined— honestly it was perfect. My daughter came in scared but Samantha had kids music playing, explained the process to her and made her the boss. I expected tears but not a single one. It was all because of how Samantha created the perfect experience. Piercing looks great and no issues with healing so far. I will forever recommend her.

Topnotch Tattoos is the best around! Easily the best experience I have had at a shop, and I refer all of my friends here. The shop is very clean, and the staff is very good about explaining procedures and taking precautions while still maintaining an easy, fun, and friendly atmosphere. Johnny, the piercer, is friendly and professional, and is very informative about proper care and cleaning, and very responsive to quick questions about new piercings via message/email. Best experience I’ve had with a piercer. I had a septum piercing that I hated and Samantha helped me find a piercing that really fit my face and was what I was looking for in jewelry as well. She was so friendly and personable that she made me forget how much I hate changing my jewelry out. I will definitely be visiting her again and sending any friends looking for piercings her way. Last week I had a tattoo appointment with Tyler and he was absolutely amazing I was very nervous going in because I didn’t know what to expect but Tyler talked to me the whole time which made me feel relaxed and comfortable they had good relaxing music on and the whole environment was a great experience. Just had a small tattoo done by John. Everyone I met was friendly and professional. The shop was very clean and so was his room.John designed the script and helped me choose the best size for my collarbone. He was quick and and lighthanded and the tattoo looks great.The pricing was very reasonable given the level of quality.I will definitely be coming back for my future tattoos.

Jonny was really amazing with my daughters first ear piercing and she is only 6!!!!! He explained step by step what he was doing and when she said she wasnt ready for the other ear, he stepped back and waited until she was ready. He was extremely patient with her and after the second ear was done, she was super happy. I would recommend going to him!

I came here to get 3 tattoos done in one sitting. Two small and one big and I just loved it! Super clean and friendly staff, great artist and definitely a positive experience. Very clean shop, super friendly staff, and ASHLEY is AMAZING!I have a good amount of tattoos (13) but was a little nervous about this one as it was going on the inside of my bicep. We all heard how painful that could be. NOT AT ALL. She is light handed, fast, and VERY sharp lines. I would give her 10 stars if I could!

Super clean work environment! I was getting my first tattoo in a pretty painful location, but the employees/artist were very kind and helpful through the entire process. Amanda did my tattoo and I would totally go back! Plus the shop is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, so you should def stop by just to take in its awesomeness!

Scheduled an appointment for my first tattoo with Amanda, who my cousin referred. We corresponded about what I wanted. Needless to say I was on the fence about keeping the appointment until I got in the car. When I arrived Amanda had a sketch of what I wanted. It’s exactly as I had envisioned it. So glad I got in the car and took my cousin’s advise. Needless to say I LOVE my tattoo!

Got piercings done by Sara and am so incredibly happy with the procedure. She was super professional and explained everything step by step and talked about her experiences with her piercings. She has a whole wall of certifications and training, shes worth every single cent and then some.

I was visiting Chicago and decided to get my nipples pierced while in a bigger city because places back home can be sketchy. I was so incredibly happy with my piercing experience! Oscar did my piercing and he was so kind and answered all of my questions. Not to mention he was just a super cool dude! We talked forever about random stuff and it really help to make me feel comfortable. Unforgettable experience!

Late review is late!I visited Topnotch for the first time in September 2020 and was tattooed by Amanda. She is beyond kind and a wonderful artist. The shop itself was nice, very clean and welcoming.

Was having problems with my nose piercing being too tight & long from the original artist at another shop. Kevin helped me out. I really appreciated his honest approach. The change in jewelry has really helped. I will definitely be back again!

Ive gotten a ton of work done here. I started with One and now have both arms full and working on getting the rest. Ive had work done by multiple artists here and there is no a single one I would not recommend. I get complimented on my tattoos and the art they represent by people all of the time, even those that do not like tattoos. The shop staff is super friendly and it is very comfortable to be there. I have even become friends with them, even those that I have not been tattooed by. My best piece of advice is that these guys know what they are doing, let them take your ideas and make a great tattoo out of them instead of just slapping a sticker on your skin. You will not regret what they do.

If youre looking for the next place to get your tattoo, go here. I was in search of a female artist for a little while and I found Amanda. If youre nerdy and like fandom, shes your girl. If youre not, shes still your girl. Shes done three of my four tattoos and is amazing. I told her about some problems I have with getting lightheaded. She did everything to make sure it didnt happen. I told her my idea of my two newest tattoos and she ran with it, giving me two of what I think are the most beautiful tattoos to represent what I wanted.The shop is clean and everyone there is amazing and will talk with you. They all do their best to make your visit the best ever.

My friend got her septum pierced by Johnny. I have never seen someone in so much pain. I have watched several septum piercings done and none of them were quite like this. He man handled her nose. Took out the needle and THEN put in the piercing. Completely and utterly wrong. Dropped the balls to the septum at least three times. Would NOT recommend Johnny at all.

Sara is so awesome at what she does and helps pick out jewelry. I saw Scott for 2 walk ins and he did incredible both times. I’m not sure I’ll ever see another artist. I love colorful things and he has all the right colors

Recently got a sternum tattoo with Steve Sims. The artwork is beautiful and I love my tattoo. However, I made my appointment 2 weeks in advance and still had to wait 1.5 hours for steve to draw up my design. Overall a good experience, but I wish I had been able to start my tattoo at the time of the appointment.

My artist Scott (doomscott on IG) has been incredible. Fantastic work and he has gone out of his way to make it even more affordable than he initially said because it has taken almost twice as long as he quoted in the consultation. So far I am at around 25-30 hours of shop time and he has charged me $850 (tips not included of course) which is insane because he usually charges $150 an hour or $500 a day.

Got a septum done by johnny vellez. He was rude and unfriendly, he was rough when doing my piercing which caused me so much pain. I also just noticed that he happened to pierce my septum with an angle. DO NOT RECOMMEND 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

I came in a few weeks ago for my first tatoo, and let me just say it was an experience I will definitely be doing again. But no where else but top notch. The artist was very skilled and informative during the tattooing and she explained what she was doing the whole way. Not only did the tatoo look great afterwords it still looks like it did in the parlor weeks after. I think top notch really might be on of the best!

A few months ago I got two lip piercings done by Sarah. When I told her they were my first facial piercings, she began to explain the details to me and coaxed me through the whole process. Then as I was about to pay, I suddenly felt lightheaded and almost fainted (lol?!) so she got me some water and told me to lay down in the seats until I felt better, checking on me once or twice. Since then, Ive been in a few times to get jewelry changed, and she always seems to remember me and the ideas we previously discussed. She has my complete trust and I wont let anybody else touch the metal in my face.

Ive been to your shop before and it was nice but it has been a while. I was on Instagram and saw the profile of one of your artists trying to get his followers to publicly shame someone on one of his posts! Totally changed my mind about ever coming back! If the art is going on my body I want to make sure I like the art and will not be shamed on social media if I dont. Very unprofessional.

Ive Lived In Elgin My Entire Life And Ive Been Here Like 4 Times The Atmosphere Never Changes Any Time Ive Walked In I Always Get Looked Down On Or Told They Dont Have Time Or They Charge Way Too Much 75 dollars for 1 eye brow and 60 for 1 earing. The man that put my wifes tongue piercing in was rude he put the piercing in at an angle used a short bar we had to go to vanity in Dundee And They Took Very Good Care Of Us. I Wouldnt Go To Top-notch Anymore I Always Wanted A Tattoo At That Shop Growing Up But its Always The Same Egg shells Feeling. (Past Experiance)

I had a tat put on the back of my neck. About 3 months later I brought my daughter in for a belly button piercing. Both jobs were the best ever. My neck ink, unbeknownst to me had faded. My artist happened to see it, remembered it and flipped out! He asked my daughter how she could could let me walk around like that?! He ththe doubled inked it, beautiful and its raised and thank you for the free service! I will not go anywhere else, in fact Ill be in visiting yours hope in a couple weeks!

Had an amazing experience and my tattoo turned out way better than expected by jeffdraw. Staff is pretty groovy and its a great atmosphere. Id recommend anyone to go and at least check it out.

I called at 830pm Monday night to speak with someone about jewelry. I asked what time they closed even tho the hours are posted online, they confirmed 10pm closing. I drove 45 min to this shop as soon as I got off work because I heard good things. I show up at 930 and the doors are locked. A guy inside saw me and waved me off. I understand some places close early when it is slow, however all I wanted was to buy jewelry, no tattoo, no piercings, and he couldn’t even walk to the door to see what I was looking for. I even tried to call to speak with someone and explain what I was looking for and they simply ignored it. I find that very unprofessional especially when it was still a half hour before closing and people were still inside.

Johnny went above and beyond when he did my high nostrils! He was very patient with making sure they were symmetrical and helping with my fearsExtremely professional and direct with information10/10 will go again

I came in for a double helix today and to redo a lobe piercing. Kevs technique and experience made everything seamless. He was very accommodating and precise with relocating my lobe piercing to match the other ear.

Did a walk in and my artist was Bud Weeks. Excellent linework, clean and crisp. Entire process took around an hour and a half/ 2 hours. Very pleased with how my tattoo looks.

Steve Sims has done both of my tattoos and hes going to hopefully be doing the rest of my left arm soon. Great artist and great place. I would recommend to anyone
