I’ve gotten three tattoos here, all done by Tim. One of the best artists I’ve worked with. Takes time to make sure the stencil is perfect. The art is definitely worth every penny. This is the only shop in Lawrence that I will go to. I also see comments of people complaining about breaks so here’s a reminder: your artist is a human and they deserve breaks too! The atmosphere at the office is clean, friendly, and quiet. I’ll always recommend this place and Tim for anyone wanting a tattoo.

Kyle was AWESOME! He tattooed us as a family - he did a great job with our designs and the tattoos themselves all look amazing. He was kind and fun to work with and I will definitely go back to him for future ink! Great first tattoo experience for my son and for his parents that hadn’t been inked in over 20 years. Kyle is amazing! He made my family and I very comfortable! My dad and I get tattoos together every time we visit each other and this is the best tattoo I have on me! He did it exactly how I wanted and even made it better. Im going to Kyle everytime Im in Lawrence!

Piercer took out my daith piercing because it was causing me discomfort. She was extremely nice. If I decide to get another piercing Ill be going to her

Our 5-year-old wanted to get her ears pierced. We travelled 35 minutes to Lawrence because I only found one place in Topeka that would pierce her young ears. They wouldn’t do a weekend appointment and the cost was going to be $125+. Skin Illustrations got us in on a Saturday and we paid $36! The trainee, Mikayla, was absolutely great with our little one. She was very enthusiastic and kind. Janis did good with the needle method, just wish she would’ve given us a warning. Now I know to ask for better communications 🙂 Overall good experience for her first ear piercing.

Great shop, clean, professional, and the artists are awesome. Jamie had a pretty light touch, too, so honestly, it didnt even really hurt that much! She was able to navigate the delicate, fine lines of my mothers handwriting perfectly. I will be back!

Man... Im never disappointed with this place. All 3 of my daughters and my neice have gotten their ears pierced and all the older girls just love them. I would absolutely recommend parents take their children here to get their ears done. Shes so patient and a mother herself so her compassion for children is deep. 10 out of 10!!

I’ve gotten a few AMAZING pieces done by Tim and can not recommend him and the folks at SI enough! Great pricing for the excellent quality you’re getting; they know their stuff and take pride in their work. I also have sensitive skin and I know my concerns will be addressed and taken seriously.As a bonus they’re LGBTQ+ friendly and a safe space for those looking for tattoos and piercings.

I have been coming to skin illustrations for years. Every single tattoo I have (besides one unfortunately) have been done by Tim! He is hands down the best! He’s done some really fun tattoos, and most recently one that means SO much to me and was very emotional to complete. Tim let me feel all the emotions I needed to, and never judged me. He’s absolutely became a friend to my family, and I’m so happy to have him at skin illustrations so I can grab some ink therapy whenever it’s needed! Thanks, Tim, for always being awesome!

Both Tim and Kyle is amazing. Kyle has done almost all of mine and delivers the best work and matches my fonts on my lettering tattoos. Tim is amazing and my Perfectly Imperfect that he did is one of my favorites with the hand written lettering and he fixed one of my tattoos that I got from a different tattoo shop in Leavenworth and I now like the tattoo. Both of the artists is amazing and I would still go to both Tim and Kyle.

I got a tattoo by Tim in December of 2022. It was scheduled for 3 hours. I did get what I wanted for the most part, and it was done well. I will give him that. I got a brain representing mental health, but it is backwards first of all. What I did not appreciate is that he took at least 3 10+ minute smoke breaks wasting my time and money. He also was done 15 minutes early, and I was not given a discount for that. For $150 an hour, I dont think these things were fair to me.

Tim did excellent work on this piece! The atmosphere in this shop is amazing and they treat you like family. I cant wait to back for more

Jane did a wonderful job on my nose and navel piercing, made me comfortable, and not as nervous. I’ve also gotten two tattoos from Tim and he’s a wonderful, gentle tattoo artist, who does great work.

Kyle is seriously the best artist. He interacted with my mom, best friend and I the entire time. I came in with very high expectations and he completely succeeded everything I wanted in my tattoo. I will be going there for the rest of my tattoos. I 10/10 recommend.

We had a very good experience having my daughters ears re-pierced. The woman who did her ears was very nice about it and worked quickly.

Jan did an AMAZING job on my sensitive piercing. Super gentle, professional, and the shop was very clean. The woman at the counter was very welcoming too.

When I went there the employees were extremely nice and comforting! I went there on the 22nd to get my bellybutton pierced and the piercer was really thorough about the process and she definitely knew what she was doing. I was a little nervous and she was very understanding of that and helped me feel as comfortable as possible. The process was super quick and smooth and if I plan on having any other body mods, I’m going here! I’d definitely recommend to others :)

Second time going to this lady, I love her as my piercer she makes the process so easy and really takes care of you. I will only go to her for my piercing needs! My nose piercing looks so good and she even got my septum one re opened. Im so thankful!

This place was absolutely amazing. I went there and wanted a tattoo within the week. Not only did I get in, they worked around my college and work schedule and I got in the next day! Being a first time tattooer I was a little nervous. Most shops told me I should do this, this, and this. Where as at Skin Illustrations they said its my preference. Shawn was absolutely amazing and had everything set up when I arrived and got me in and out quickly so I was able to make it to class! The tattoo looked great and he made sure I was comfortable the whole time by taking to me and even taking little breaks. The store itself was very clean and customer service was awesome. As long as you give him a copy of the tattoo and sign the correct forms while you are there, you will be set to go! For a first experience this was amazing

Worst experience here. We went here for a consultation, talked about what Toddcould and couldnt do (I was doing a cover up my fiance was getting a sleeve) told me he would have to change a lot with my ideas for my cover up, but that he would make both look great, didnt look too pleased tho, kinda rushed us out. Took a deposit of $100 told us to email him bc he hadnt taken any notes. And put us on the schedule for the next week. Never got back in touch with us..Basically stole our money. We talked to a different artist she said my ideas would be a great cover up and that she could easily do it, her art was better, cheaper, and seemed excited to work with us,

Got my piercings done by Jan herself she made me feel absolutely comfortable and relaxed definitely plan on going back again soon

Todd fit me in for my grandpas special day and did an amazing job on my tattoo featuring my Grandpa. He is a true artist who really cares about his work as well as the client. He went above and beyond for me and I cant thank him enough! Everyone in Warsaw, MO loved it and it meant so much to Grandpa!

This place is awesome. My children have had their ears and nose pierced here and the lady did a fabulous job, was compassionate, made the kids feel completely at ease, and was very thorough on cleaning instructions

My mom and I hadn’t seen each other in over 3 years, so we wanted to do something special & decided on tattoos together. We called ahead of time to a few shops and called Skin Illustrations & was told that Todd had time to do the small tattoos for us this afternoon so we decided to head over there which I do appreciate them getting us in so quickly. When we got there Todd quoted us $60 after seeing our tattoo inspiration photos. He drew up my moms tattoo and placed it on her before the procedure, and she looked @ it & then asked for one of the letters on the word to be made a little bigger, he stated “this is gonna have to turn into an appointment another time if we start doing this” in an annoyed tone (we thought it was an appointment because we had called ahead of time). My mom (feeling rushed) stated to go ahead and she had hers done. ( she did not like one of the letters), though ultimately that tattoo turned out decent.When he drew up mine, which was a tiny dragonfly (as small as a nickel, very simple.) it looked rushed & uneven. I asked for him to make it look more like the photo I had presented, he re-drew it and then told me the printers weren’t working so he couldn’t get it exactly how I wanted it, I understood against my better judgement and went with it. The outline on my skin looked small and simple, i told him to go ahead. After he was done it looked much bigger than what the outline looked like, it was bulky & inconsistent with what I wanted. The whole process seemed sort of rushed & he seemed stressed. He took us up front and said my moms was still $60 but mine would now be $80 - I asked why and he stated “because of the shading, having to use 2 needles”. I really wished I would have been informed of this before-hand instead of a surprise charge at the end. I would not recommend this shop, I will be getting mine fixed when I get back home out of state. Such a shame, it was supposed to be a nice bonding moment between my mother and I.

Would not recommend doing business here. My first encounter with them was messaging them on Facebook asking them a couple of questions in regards to getting my nose pierced, I also called and didn’t get a response either time. My 13 year old sister called and asked about getting her ears pierced. They finally responded and said come in and they’d be able to do it for her. Both her and her mom spoke on the phone with them multiple times reiterating her age to them. We drove 40 minutes just for them to tell us they couldn’t do it because we did not bring her birth certificate. The employee that spoke with us was very rude and laughed at us for not having it. He said “well why didn’t you ask?” I don’t know about you, but that’s not something I should have to ask. That’s something they, as the business, need to clarify to me as the customer. Very disappointed in the way we were spoken to and treated when in the shop. (And yes I have multiple piercings. Many of which I got before I turned 16 at other legit piercing shops and I was never once asked for a birth certificate or laughed at for not having one).

Dirk is one of the most amazing and talented tattoo artists Ive ever got the pleasure of meeting and so glad he did one of my most memorable tattoos thus far. Light handed, detail oriented and an all around great guy! Staff was all friendly and very helpful :)

Tim was great!!! Very friendly!! This wasn’t my first tattoo but it was my first with Tim and I appreciated that he walked me through what he was doing while he was tattooing.

Just got a tattoo done this afternoon by Brent in memory of my Dog Lucky and it’s beautiful! He was very kind and thoughtful and a talented Artist. I would highly recommend him to anyone and will tell all of my Tattoo Family and Friends🍀

Todd was no good. From the start, we came in early to get our appointments on time, he was fooling around 20 mins into our appointment. He said he would sketch the design and did not do so only transfered, then when asked to tweak the photo to what we wanted he seemed to get annoyed and didnt want to fix it. Also didnt wash his hands after touching multiple surfaces or wear a mask. Then proceeded to use a dull razor on the skin. Proceeding that he invited numerous clients into our cube while we were trying to get the tattoo going at 1240. Theres more that I could go on about but this was a horrible experience for both me and my best friend. We ended up walking out losing our deposit. Stay away if you want a good tattoo.

This was so awesome! Cant believe I actually got it done, I thought I was going to be too scared, and yet, I wasnt. She talked to me really calmly, and made sure everything was smooth, and didnt seem bothered by the huge piercing party we had haha! I love my new piercing. (Also, Im still a minor, and if youre also a minor trying to get this pierced, with a parents consent, this is definitely the place to go.)Ill probably come here for anything else I want to either have pierced or get my first tattoo here too! Brittney Bigsby was the girl who did my piercing, my friends, and my moms today. She was so sweet and she was super awesome!! Definitely have her if you can. 😉

After looking multiple places, we picked Skin Illustrations-Tattoos to get my daughters ears pierced. The piercer was very sweet with her, even getting her water when she looked a little pale post-piercing. It was very affordable and the option was given to use a piercing gun or a needle. We were very happy with our choice.

Absolutely amazing! My father and I went in as walk-ins and they went above and beyond to get us both tattooed together! They did beautiful work for a great price in a very welcoming atmosphere! 20/10, WILL recommend to everyone!!

At first I was taken aback by the fact that the downstairs was a nail salon, but I was so happy with every aspect. The piercing artist was so patient with me and was able to cater to my requests. I got my cartilage pierced and I would highly recommend. (The picture was right after it was pierced, thats why its so red.)

Called ahead for a group appointment and they made us wait almost an hour. Our tattoos were simple lettering done by an apprentice and the end product was disappointing. They finished half of the group and then told us the huge amount they were overcharging us. $500 for 5 tattoos that were two letters each (one square inch)

They were incredibly kind and professional and informative when we brought our 4 year old in to get her ears pierced for the first time!

Jan is amazing for piercings! Pierced my cartilage twice and my sisters. 10000 times better experience than at Fine Line in Topeka where we drove from. Would recommend this place in a heartbeat.

The woman who pierced me was wonderful, very personable, and helped me when I was nervous. I will definitely be going back to her for all my piercing needs. I would give more then 5 stars if I could!!

Went here to get my doubles and triples. Piercings are walk in and I was seen right away. The woman who pierced my ears was very kind and welcoming and positioned them exactly how I asked even though it was a little different from usual. Very clean and the staff was kind.

I got snakebites piercings went back to change rings into stud they didnt have a long enough stud so they used a barbell and told me they would order the right length and call me to have me come back to change the barbell to a flat back stud only to have nothing but problems since they were supposed to call me. I have called them twice and asked for the lady to call me back only to have never received any calls from them. I wouldnt use them if you paid me too definitely dont have them change your jewelry out do it yourself.

If I could rate lower I would. I do not reccommend this place for pierecing. I am extremely mad and my nose is completely botched up & swollen. I have had two experiences with this lady and I am not a happy customer. I surely will not return. I went in to get my nose ring changed to a hoop. When I got my nose pierced in July 2016. I had three people with me and I still have the photos & note they gave me. I went to go get my nose pierced signed all the paperwork and paid. She had an attitude when my sisters had asked some questions but I was too happy about getting my nose pierced that her attitude didnt bother me.They told me I could come back and get it changed for free after it healed.After I had gotten it pierced I showed it to my older sister and one other friend and told me that the piercing was too high and for the price I paid was not worth it. Still, it didnt bother me because it looked alright to me I thought it was just her being picky. ( she has had her nose pierced too)I came Jan said I have to pay 5$ dollars whatever cool thats not a problem for me. Keep in mind I also have my younger cousin with me who witness everything. So she precedes to put in the hoop. For starters, she didnt wipe me down but I was like its okay because I had already wiped my nose with alcohol prior to coming. So she is trying to put the hoop in but is struggling and saying it is too small. So she said she was going to stretch it to make fit. I said okay. She went back in and out with the needle about four times. At one point I looked down and saw a lot of blood. Her son came in while she was putting the hoop in and started talking about zoning and paperwork for that. Like she wasnt even focusing on my hoop my cousin said. She told me done. Wiped me off with water. She handed me the mirror both I and my cousin looked and we saw that the hoop had changed into a stud. (it was a hoop with a diamond). I was like its supposed to be a hoop, not a stud. Jan said I couldnt get in because the piercing is too high whoever angle it didnt do it right. Yall I was internally fuming because she was one who pierced my nose. Jan said I needed to get a nose hoop like my cousins, that mines were too small (5/16)She told me she wouldnt charge me because she wouldnt get it in. She could have just put back in the original nose ring I had. The what was a hoop nose ring can fall out at any min. My nose is swollen badly and extremely hurts. That says a lot because I have a HIGH pain tolerance I kid you not Im upset because next week is my 21st birthday and I really wanted to have a hoop in. I called BDC explained what happened they said they would be happy to change it for me after the swelling goes down and that they do it for FREE.

We went as a family for the girls birthday presents. Brittney was our piercer and she took excellent care of us. Everyone there was friendly and overall we feel we received excellent service.

Walked in and was treated very well! I did have to wait an hour while he finished up another client, and got my design ready, but honestly, I excepted to wait much longer given it was a Friday afternoon. Definitely would recommend!

I went there with my daughter about 4 months ago so she could get a small tattoo. I had called ahead and got all the details of what I would need to do prior. We arrived and we were told that we didnt have correct paperwork and then the artist refused to help us because we didnt have a picture even though it was simple tattoo. He said I am not going to draw one out for you and take up my time. Then he left and went to talk to another customer. Nobody there was polite, everyone seemed clueless. The owneris soooo rude. Never will I go back there.

Todd did my tattoo he was VERY RUDE!!And messed my tattoo up very badly , I trusted him with a tattoo that meant a lot to me and he messed it up... he kept being rude and saying “DONT MOVE THIS WILL BE ON YOU FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE”(I was not moving ). He was rough, and very very rude . I wouldn’t recommend at all.

Got a stud put in my nose for 55 bucks. Very experienced piercer. She was patient with my anxiety & quick with her work. Worth the money.

Thomas does not care about how the customer is feeling, he would rather get the tattoo done. He has a very heavy hand. He over charged for the tattoo. Plus he messed the colors up from how I wanted it. He picked the colors out.
