Holly and Jarod are by far the two best artist I’ve had the pleasure of working with. They are both very comforting and make the tattoo experience so wonderful! Holly was able to design the perfect coverup for me, and Jarod executed my crimson ghost perfectly. Can’t recommend them enough!! ❤️

Came in today to work with Jerod on a d&d tattoo. I loved the shop and was amazed by his design. Ive already booked the next appointment and cant recommend these two enough.Update: Had my second session to add some additional color and detail. Once again, everything was great!

Holly is hands down the best tattoo artist I have worked with. She creates such a welcome and safe space and I am so happy every time that I work with her. She creates amazing art and the tattoos I have gotten from her are by FAR the best and most complimented ones I have. I cannot recommend working with her enough!!

Holly did both my husband and I’s tattoos and made sure we loved every aspect of them before she started. The shop was so clean and she was very personable the whole time. We will only be getting our tattoos from here from now on.

I have gotten several tattoos by both Holly and Jarod since 2021 and I could not be happier with all of my 7 tattoos by them. From flash to custom pieces, they got you covered for American traditional. Holly just started an awesome knee piece for me and was the absolute best through the most painful spot I have encountered so far. When I had to tap she was so accommodating getting my on the books and rolled my deposit over to that appointment.

I’ve been coming to Holly and Jared since 2020 and the work they do is the most amazing I’ve ever had done, I’ve been tattooed by multiple people and no one does it the way holly and Jared do. From the inviting smiles of the shop, to the music they play everything is amazing, not to mention how clean and tidy the shop is. I do not care how far away I live in the future I will make the trip up to see holly and Jared every time.

Holly was fantastic. The place was clean. She was very knowledgeable and tolerated all my stupid questions. The line work is gorgeous. Definitely will go back and would recommend to anyone who asks. Photo is from immediately after getting it done.

I found/started going to standard electric tattooing around 2 years ago and it was the best decision. When I first walked into the shop I felt calm and relaxed. Holly and Jarod are the most down to earth people you will ever meet. They never fail to amaze me and never make me rethink my decision 2 years ago. I would 100% recommend them to everyone. I’ve gotten multiple tattoos from Holly and she always kills it! Works super fast and light, and her art is always gorgeous. She and Jarod are always so friendly and welcoming whenever I’m in the shop. I get constant compliments on my tattoos and recommend her daily.

My sister and I wanted matching tattoos and were referred to Holly and Jarod. We had the absolute best experience! Holly took our idea and was very open to any changes we wanted. She was very easy to talk to and used her experience to make the placement and application perfect. Highly recommend and will return for any future tattoos!

Holly did a large back piece for me to cover up an older, smaller tattoo. She is upfront about pricing and the process, so I went into it knowing what to expect. Jarod pitched in with getting things set up as well, and it was pretty seamless. I would go back and see either of them! They are both really talented and seem to have a true appreciation for traditional tattooing.

I’ve been getting tattooed by Holly for almost six years now, she is the first woman tattoo artist I’ve had, and as a woman myself, that kind of representation and relationship have been life changing. She and Jarrod always make me feel comfortable, from shooting the sh*t to dealing with pain to making my tattoo dreams come true. I honestly can’t give the shop high enough praise. I recommend them to anyone who asks — being very tattooed, this happens a lot — their professionalism, laid-back Midwest kindness, their humor and humanity make sessions feel like hangs. Google won’t let me give them 10 stars, but it’s what they deserve.

I’ve been to Standard Electric 4 times already and two of those were for coverups from other artists. I love Holly with my entire heart and she and Jarod both knew my name by the second time I was there. She includes me in every step of the tattooing process and I’ve never felt afraid to speak up if I don’t like the way something looks. She’s done a lot of floral work on me and if you’re not sure you should look at her Instagram for her style! I have nothing but good things to say about her and the store!

Excellent service! I went in for a tattoo on 2/24. Both Holly and Jarod were personable and professional, the studio was very clean, and Holly asked lots of questions regarding placement, size, and color for my tattoo. She was quick, but not heavy handed like some tattoo artists Ive gone to. Plus the owners were quick to respond when I submitted my booking inquiry in December. I will be utilizing their services again thats for sure!

Posting one of my favorite tattoos for credit 👌Most of my tattoos are from Jared and Holly. Always professional, gentle, quick & ask the right questions. I had a lot of nervousness for my first tattoo because of health issues but I was reassured and made to feel comfortable. Additionally the space just feels cozy and not industrial. I recommend them for any fans of traditional or dainty line work!

I cannot recommend Standard Electric Enough. I have gotten all four tattoos since being in Lawrence from them in the span of 3 years. They produce quality work. Getting tattooed is a vulnerable experience, and Holly consistently goes out of her way to make sure I feel safe and comfortable and checks in with me throughout every part of the experience.

I’ve had the privilege of working with both Jarod and Holly. They’re both amazing artists, extremely professional, and most importantly to me, they’re caring. Let’s be honest, it can be stressful getting a tattoo, but they both have a real knack for making you feel completely comfortable, totally at ease and like you belong there. Went here for my first larger piece. Gave them a cash deposit but when I needed to reschedule they tried to say I never gave them the deposit so they never held the appointment. LUCKILY but ONLY when I told them what had happened and what the artist had said to me that day did they actually believe me. The piece is aight and they are talented but not going back nor probably recommending to anyone😬💀

Words cannot express how much I adore Holly & Jarod. These two warm my heart so much!!! Got a beautiful tattoo from Holly, she was super nice and drew an amazing piece! As it started to heal I got a surface infection due to my cats touching it while it was healing. Holly touched it up basically half of the tattoo for no charge. My favorite tattoo shop in Lawrence!

Love this place! My first time going to get tattoo I was so nervous but they made feel so comfortable. At the of my appointment. They made me feel like they were from my friends. I went back for my second tattoo and I loved it. Their works is amazing.

If I could give less than this, I would. They are pretentious and basically thieves. They have stolen $150 from my wife and I in 2 separate incidents. Buyer beware! You will give them your deposit, only to have them talk you out of what you want and keep your deposit. With the HUNDREDS of tattoo shops out there, please find someone else to give your money to. I promise, you will be disappointed. Yes a personal tattoo idea must be bad. Thanks for your terrible business! DO NOT GO THERE!! They don’t care!

Went in there scheduled for Holly. Jarrod was the only one available. I was told if I left, I would lose my deposit. Rather than losing the deposit, I chose a basic rune design. This place is chaotic and does not work in your best interest. Seriously, the people who referred me are looking for a new artist as welll. This isn’t worth the uncertainty you will face. DO NOT GO HERE.

The art work is great and you can tell from the photos of their work. But more than that they are a pleasure to work with. Very nice and easy to talk to. I felt really at ease and I was so happy with how they worked with me to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. Holly did a great job too of making sure I was aware of how certain things might heal and what we could change to avoid. I really appreciated her input.

Best tattoo shop in town! Such a family friendly vibe in shop that makes you feel like youre home. The only place I recommend for tattoos to anyone, both Jarod and Holly have the lightest touch and friendliest attitudes. My wife and I got our first tattoos here in January. The shop itself was very welcoming and not intimidating, and both of them were wonderful people. They made us feel at ease with such a nervous first step. After talking over our designs they came up with wonderful interpretations and made sensible modifications to make them look great. The actual tattooing was wonderfully done and I will come back again to get my next tattoo. I would recommend this place to anyone. Amazing place!

I started going to Jarod when he lived in Wichita. Now that he has his own shop in Lawrence, I still make the choice to travel the 2.5 hours to get tattooed by him. The shop is beautiful and has a warm feel. Jarods bedside manner is unmatched. I feel confident bringing any of my ideas to him. I havent had the pleasure of being tattooed by Holly, but her skills are growing tremendously at a fast rate. Ill never get tattooed at another shop.

He worked tirelessly with me to make sure I was getting an awesome piece of art that incorporated my ideas executed with his talent and experience. I could not be happier with this shop and I highly recommend both Holly and Jarod as artists and business owners. They are body positive, non-judgmental, open, and welcoming. I stopped by on a whim one day and knew it was the place to get my first tattoo, which covered up some nasty scars and later became part of the half sleeve. These guys rock!

Standard Electric is an unbeatable experience. Jarod and Holly are as kind as it gets. They overwrite any pre-conceived notions one might have about walking into a tattoo shop. I went in twice with a vague idea of what I wanted, and Jarod drew up designs that are now my two favorite pieces. They are fantastic artists and even better people.

When I was younger, possibly less smarter, and life fully had not begun for myself...... I may have written something I should not have! However, being more mature in my way of thanking, growing spirituality in my religion and life, and experiencing things I never thought I would ever do... including getting a tattoo! I have read reviews on Standard Electric, did my research, and visited the place as well as the people in there! Holly and Jarod are some of the humblest, noblest, and sincere people I have EVER met. Not to mention if you even had a disability, (for f*** sake, who would put that on here), if you even knew, Holly spent 5+ years prior to Tattooing, helping her community with the disabled! My rating is a 5+ star because you have to get to know people and their story of where they came from to get where they are going! I WILL be back for yet ANOTHER tattoo! The tattoo artist is amazing! She made me feel very comfortable and I am so glad I picked this place. For those who want a tattoo here - you have to come into the building and make an appointment first and then come back to get the tattoo. I can tell everyone that this place is worth every dollar. I will definitely send my friends here when they are old enough. (I just turned 18 not that long ago) PS This is my first tattoo.

Jarod did my tattoo about 2 moths ago and I could not be happier ! I am constantly getting compliments and find my self gazing at it everyday because I still cannot believe that it is mine! Jarod did my right sleeve and Holly gave me a wonderful tattoo. They are all American traditional pieces. They’re hands down wonderful artists and people. At least three times a week I get stopped on the street and complimented on my tattoos. Many people have said I have the best tattoos they have ever seen. I’ve told people in New York City and Rio de Janeiro that my tattoos are from Lawrence, Kansas and they react in disbelief. Come make an appointment ASAP!

I couldnt recommend Jarod and Holly enough! Jarod is a true master of tattooing. He has a wealth of knowledge about the history and the process of tattooing, which is rare to find these days... and his black work is out of control amazing! Holly is an apprentice, but she is already such a talent. I look forward to many more pieces from both of them!

I came in on my birthday to get a tattoo and Jarod was able to squeeze me in! I got some sacred geometry tattooed on my sternum/clavicle. Ive gotten many tattoos before and I just want to say this was the BEST and most fun tattoo ive ever gotten. He was an absolute sweetheart through the whole thing and made me feel like I was family. He even warned me before getting to some of the more painful spots! The line work is incredible and i swear he had the most gentle hand. I would recommend him or his lovely wife to anybody getting their first or even their 10th tattoo!

Absolutely wonderful! Holly was very kind and informative. I asked about a walk in appointment and she was able to fit me in and did such a wonderful job. I had a picture of what I wanted and she suggested a few ideas and she made it look 10x better than the picture itself. I also drove 2 hours just to go there.

DONT GET TATTOOED BY JAROD....unless you plan on getting it covered up by someone else. While tattooing my brother in law, Jarod told him that he doesn’t put as much effort into designs that he doesn’t love. Then (30 minutes later)he tattooed me and completely botched it & rushed through it. He doesn’t take his time and because of this, he gave me a sloppy tattoo that I had to get completely covered up by someone else. I 100% do not recommend.In response:That is because I was tattooed by him when he was in Wichita, KS so I wouldn’t be in your books. I have many people in my family who have been to Jarod, and still go to Jarod. Just letting people know that they should stay away if they want someone who will put in effort even if it’s not the artists cup of tea.

Jared is a great guy! Always friendly and easy to communicate with. My husband and I have gotten all of our tattoos from him. He does great work!

Jared does really amazing work and he takes his time to draw with you in the shop. When you dont like something about the drawing he works hard to fix it and he is not afraid to tell you when something is outside of his expertise or If something is going to look bad as a tattoo.

Ive been coming here for two years, just moved out of Lawrence but it’s so worth the drive! Jarod and Holly are both such kind, sweet souls and awesome to talk to while getting tattooed!
