Rob was awesome. I had a hard time on different ideas and on my first visit I changed my mind from my first idea and Rob had no issues changing it up and he did an awesome job on my tattoo. His talent is amazing and he has great people skills. We had a lot of laughs and some real good conversations. His place is amazingly clean and sanitized, he cares about your tattoo and what you want not what he wants to do. Trust me you will not regret going to Rob to get a tattoo. Thanks Rob. Last night Rob did a marathon tattoo session for my sisters, brother and I. We each wanted a tattoo to memorialize our late father. Rob was so patient with us and was happy to accommodate the edits we each wanted for every unique piece. He is friendly, professional and thorough with his process. I felt as though I was in a very clean and safe environment. I’m so happy with my tattoo and my siblings tattoos as well! Rob is phenomenal! Thanks for your amazing work and allowing us this moment to bond and heal. It means everything!

Tl;dr version: This guy is a bloody brilliant artist! If you’re looking to get amazing ink work done that’s everything you wanted and more, this is the artist to go to.I was on vacation in Michigan for two weeks and decided to look around and see if I could get some tattoos that I’ve wanted for literally years. I’m so grateful that I found Tempest Tattoo and that the shop owner was nice enough to get me not one, but TWO appointments!The first two tattoos were brand new ones for me, and it was both easy and fun to interact with the shop owner and artist, Robert. He was knowledgeable, creative, and sensible. All of which you want your tattoo artist to be.From the start, the whole experience (both of them!) was both pleasant and fun. It was easy to get an appointment set up. Just had to send a couple of quick Facebook Messages that were answered promptly, which made getting actual appointment times all that easier.The shop was easy to find and get to, and the inside was clean, well taken care of, and seeing pictures of all of Robert’s previous works hanging on the walls was a cool touch. It also helped assure me that I’d made the right choice in who I picked my tattoo artist to be.As mentioned, Robert was thoughtful and friendly throughout the whole process. I told him what I was wanting, and he was helpful in advising the size, scale, placement, etc. of the tattoos while also making sure I got the tattoos that I’d been dreaming of. He was also informative and readily answered any questions or concerns that I may have had in regards to things such as aftercare or whether or not a person can get a tattoo over scars. Finally, my boyfriend got to accompany me throughout each process, which made getting the tattoos all that more special for me.The first two tattoos were the larger ones, and they were the ones that I was more certain on the design and just needed some help in getting them scaled and placed properly. Robert was helpful with all of that, and they turned out beautifully.The second two tattoos were coverups of smaller tattoos. Again, getting an appointment was easy, which was greatly appreciated given that it was within a fairly small timeframe. Just like before, Robert was just as professional and helpful as ever. Even though the second tattoo’s placement was a bit awkward given the design and the original tattoo it was covering up, Robert still came through for me and did a spectacular job.Finally, all four tattoos healed up quickly and without any problems. I didn’t have any issues and the aftercare advice Robert provided was helpful, concise, and easy to follow. I’ve gotten numerous compliments on all of the ink I got from Tempest Tattoo and cannot endorse them enough. I know I will definitely be going back in the future and if you’re looking for phenomenal ink work, I highly recommend you go to Tempest Tattoo, as well.

Tempest tattoo and Rob is the absolute best!!! The first tattoo he did for me was a partial sleeve and tribute to a dear friend, and my father who had passed away that year. He took my idea of a couple meaningful images and made beautiful art that I get to carry with me every day. Of course when I wanted my next tattoo, I contacted Rob, and even though I changed my mind about what I wanted about 65 times leading up to my appointment, Rob was patient and kind and delivered a more awesome tattoo than I could have envisioned. If you want a tattoo that reflects your heart, and is completely dazzling, go to Tempest Tattoo! If you impulsively just want some dazzling ink, still go to Tempest Tattoo!! You will have no regerts (lol)!

Rob is absolutely phenomenal! He did such amazing work from fine lines and shading on mine and my best friends matching bull skull tattoos! He worked with us so well with setting up an appointment. We had ran into so many bumps in the road with my best friend coming in from Florida and getting canceled plane flights. Very understanding and amazing work!

Did a large piece, in color, quickly and with great care. It took many hours but was doable between the great communication and numbing spray. Great conversationalist, but if you arent one fir chatter, the walls are filled with cool art. 10/10 going back again!

This is the second tattoo my boyfriend and I have received from Rob and it was amazing just like the first. I have a few tattoos from Robert and theyre all phenomenal. Especially a cover up he did for me years ago. I get a ton of compliments on it. He is fun and easy to talk to.Jamie is hands down the best brow lady to go to. If you want your brows to look magazine perfect every single day then Jamie is your girl. Shes done all of my friends eyebrows and not a single one looks bad or regrets their decision.

I am very happy with the service at Tempest Tattoo. Robert was professional and made me feel comfortable while getting my two small tattoos. Most of his work showcased online are bigger tattoo pieces, however Robert was happy to do my smaller tattoos! 10/10 recommend!

My experience at Tempest Tattoo was great! The building is so clean and family friendly, and Robert is personable and incredibly creative! I haven’t been to a tattoo studio that I can say genuinely cared about their customers like he did. We were able to collaborate and create a unique design together, and it turned out amazing. He does fantastic fine line work which you generally have to go to someone who specializes in it for, and he’s completely honest about his capabilities. Was definitely worth the visit and experience. Overall, our experience was great! The studio was super clean and cozy. Robert was easy to work with, friendly and professional. He also has great taste in music! My boyfriend, and I went here when we were visiting Michigan for a friends wedding, and we decided last minute to get a tattoo while we were there. The owner worked with us and got us in even though it was last minute, he was very nice, and professional. I ended getting a spine tattoo, and my boyfriend got a tattoo that he had already had done from someone else fixed. You could instantly tell a difference in his work versus what the other tattooist had done. My tattoo took about 2 1/2 hours and I could barely even feel him tattooing me. Normally tattoos hurt, but I couldnt even tell that I got a tattoo. Definitely was the best experience I have ever had with a tattoo. My boyfriend and I have talked about going back to Michigan again just to get another tattoo here! He is super cool to talk to, and he has such a steady and light hand, very impressive. If you don’t know what to get that’s okay, he has PLENTY of old templates you can use as a reference! If you are looking for a place to get some new ink, I highly recommend here, you wont regret it!

This was a fantastic place to get my first tattoo. Robert was really nice and understood exactly what I wanted, my tattoo looks perfect! The studio had a really comfortable atmosphere. I drove over an hour to get my tattoo done here and it was definitely worth the tripEdit: I thought I was getting original artwork, then a 5 year old indentical tattoo by another artist showed up on my pinterest feed.

Robert did an amazing job, we discussed ideas for my tattoo and I let him take the reins and when he showed me his idea I was NOT disappointed!! He made sure I was comfortable and content the whole session. Music and conversation was great, highly recommend.

Very professional and clean shop. Rob is a fantastic artist and is well versed in many artform styles. He uses a really nice tattoo gun that is not heavy and he has a light touch while tattooing, resulting in less trauma to the skin. My skin barely turned red after working on my whole forearm for hours. I would recommend any one looking for a good local tattoo shop to visit tempest tattoo. Also his wife does cosmetic eyebrows which is next on my list to get done. Will leave another review after I get it done.

Rob was great! When he said he is gentle and light handed he wasnt joking. I have such a low pain tolerance and I can honestly say this was my best tattoo experience (I have 8 tattoos). He is also super down to earth easy going and funny. I will be going back for more.

I would highly recommend Tempest Tattoo. The owners wife helps him run it and she is extremely friendly. Talking to her while he worked on my tattoo made it go much quicker. Top notch work done every time! If you are looking for anything custom or just flat out traditional, Robby is down to work with you with anything you’d need. Excellent detail and craftsmanship in every piece. The best aspect of this studio compared to others is the customer service and scheduling unlike much larger studio’s with multiple artists on rotation pumping out tattoos by the hour, tempest specializes in a one on one walkthrough and customized design unlike any other shop around. With more flexibility at a lower price! Ive gotten 4 pieces done here and have been amazed every time and have experienced much shorter recovery using Robbys methods.

My girlfriend and I went to Lexington for our anniversary and decided to stop in for a tattoo, not only did they accept us as walk-ins they stayed open after hours to make sure the tattoos were done correctly. If youre looking to get a tattoo from this shop go to Heath, he killed it.(be better than us make and appointment ahead of time though.)

Robert did an AMAZING cover up on my foot of a 20 year old mess that other artists wouldnt touch. I absolutely LOVE it!
