Had an awesome first time experience. The environment was very comfortable and inviting. Everybody was chill. Joe did an awesome job on my tattoo and was super cool. I definitely enjoyed my time here. I also got hooked up with a free Costco hot dog, also my first time and it was delicious LOL

Took my 18 yr old daughter here to get her first tattoo, The guy was super nice and helped alot with her choice. We returned the next week to get her belly button piercing done. We also took my 7 yr old here to get her first earnings done. We had No problems at all with this location and we have returned already and plan to return in the future for more work.We appreciate the kindness they showed to us bieing our first time.We would recommend you at least check them out and see how they work for you and your style of tattoos and piercings.

Super awesome experience!!! me and my best friend came in pretty late in the day as walk ins and they had us in the chair in 20 minutes. super professional and nice, we were offered water which is super awesome :) corey did my tattoo and he was super awesome, funny, talkative, and his work is amazing. i will totally be coming back here in the future!!!

Been a loyal customer of both locations for years. Everyone is friendly, engages the customer, and gets along well. All my family members have been inked at one of the two locations, so we consider them as family too. Ive been with Joe since 2013 and hes a big part of why I stay committed to him and the shop. Both locations have great artists and piercers, so get out of your chair, stop making excuses, and go get inked or pierced. Hell, why not both? Unsure of what to get, try the gumball machine. Great designs at an ever better price! With risk, comes reward! Better yet, let your artist come up with the design for your ideas... and watch the creativity work for you!

I have been going to Next Wave Tattoo shop since 2021. I love this place. They always make me feel welcomed and everyone’s always in a good mood. I really like my two colored tattoos done by Jordan K at the Gilbert location. He is very friendly and makes me feel very comfortable. The first tattoo I had done was at the Mesa location by Erica. All my tattoos have memorial meanings and these people love to make beautiful art for you to remember forever, to look at and love. Last time I went for a tattoo I was offered drinks and food and another time I was cold and they turned the fans off just for me to feel more comfortable. This is why I love this place and wouldn’t even chose another place. Thank you to these awesome people for being so kind and always having the best attitudes!

Came here for my first tattoo (on my ribs) and could not have had a better experience! Jordan is THE MAN! I can’t stress enough how great of an artist he is but more importantly such a nice and down to earth person. He is extremely knowledgeable and talented and cares so much about the piece he’s working on as if it’s going on his own body. He takes his time because he truly wants the tattoo to be the best it can be, which I really appreciated. He even follows up afterwards to check in on the healing process and help you with whatever you may need. The price was super affordable too! If you’re looking for a tattoo artist, look no further! I promise you won’t regret it

I got my first tattoo from Hayden Blackshaw at the Gilbert Road location. Its my late cats paw print. Wonderful experience . He was very knowledgeable and helped me make the right decision for the design and he has a very light touch. I barely felt most of the tattoo and the shading was done very gently as well. I brought my friend along as well so he could learn the process and Hayden was very accommodating.I have a skin condition called dermatographia -- it basically gives me a giant red hive if my skin gets irritated -- and Hayden was so gentle that it barely flared up. Mind you, it flairs up when I scratch an itch!I highly recommend Next Wave and Hayden, especially if its your first tattoo.

My wife and I both have had tattoos done at Next Wave Tattoos by their artist Daniel Student. The shop is clean and professional, and our artist was friendly, accommodating, and talented!We have had work done by Daniel a few times now, and not been disappointed! He has created beautiful artwork for us both, capturing exactly what we were looking for.Daniel is the only artist we would want to see for our future tattoos.

I hadn’t been to this location yet and it’s awesome! I love the decor and just the welcoming vibe from everyone in the shop. Karly did phenomenal work per usual! Looking forward to my next sesh and adding color, this is def one of my new favorite pieces 🖤

Went to Next Wave 2 on 4/15 for an appointment with Joe. He did an amazing job with the tattoo, made it so my friend and I had the features we each wanted, the space was clean and everyone working was chatty and friendly. Already ready to go back for my next one!

I went here yesterday as a walk in around 5 PM for a bridge piercing by Lori and my experience was fantastic! The staff are outgoing people with a neat, clean studio. I have several piercings but Lori walked me through all of her steps, making sure I was comfortable and that I liked the placement of the piercing. I recommend, and I will be back again!

I have gotten a couple tattoos from different artist at two locations (University and Gilbert). My latest tattoos where done at the Gilbert location, and as always, the Artist are very helpful and welcoming. We walked in expecting to just talk with an artist about what we wanted and set up a time, as luck would have it, Danny was just finishing with someone and was open. I got two tattoos (one on forearm and one to add 2 of my grandkids to my arm) my husband got one on his forearm. Very reasonable pricing. We will be back

I came for piercings with my mom, and it was a great experience! Everybody was so nice, and our piercer, Lori, took her time to make sure the piercings would be perfectly placed. All the tattoo artists were nice and funny as well! I’ll definitely be coming back.

My girlfriend and I popped in to get our bellybutton and ears pierced. Kitty was amazing and so much fun, and she had us in and out so quickly, while still making sure we had the materials and information for aftercare. She made us feel comfortable and she does amazing work. 10/10

10/10 experience getting my piercings with Lori!! Quick service (on a late night walk in too). I brought my baby with me and she made us feel comfortable and safe. (Honestly the whole staff was very friendly) Not to mention SHE KNOWS WHATS SHES DOING. The piercings were QUICK and PAINLESS. (Lobe and Helix) I love that she walks you through the whole process and doesnt catch you by surprise) She answered every question, very informative and professional but at the same time made the experience fun and comfortable. She takes the whole experience very seriously and cares about making the piercings look even and takes her time. I also noticed shes very aware of sanitation and serialization. I also loved the aftercare experience as well. !!!Dont you dare go to Claires!!! Not worth it. Stay away from those ear guns. Go see Lori ASAP and give her the 5 stars she deserves.

Ive been here twice for walk-in tattoos and both experiences were awesome. There is such a positive energy in this place and the people Ive encountered are just so genuine. I had my last tattoo done by Jared and man, he did an incredible job and obviously worked really hard on this tattoo and I cant even express how much that means to me. If youre reading this and thinking should I really come here? I think you just need to walk in and see it for yourself.

I came in on a spontaneous whim and Hayden greeted me and he was just so great! I didnt have an idea of what I wanted, just knew what I didnt like and he was very patient and made me feel comfortable. I selected a custom drawing of his and I love it. WOW! This place is top notch. Not only do I absolutely love my tattoo, but I love the quality and care of the work that was put into it. Danny is an exceptional artist and a great conversationalist (and funny too!) Danny (and Jordan) took a nervous person like me, and made me feel relaxed and cared for immediately. Absolutely love the new shop! It has a cute old classic look and feel to it and my God those vintage couches! 😍 The shop is warm and inviting, the Artist here are all Extremely super friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly talented! I came here for my latest tattoo and they were super friendly and very helpful! Because of the simple design, they took me as a walk in at a reasonable price, and was very patient and nice about the process. The artist was also professional and the place was nicely cleaned and they were quick about everything. The handwriting I got looked just like it did on the paper I had. Its very possible I will be coming back!

Saw Lori for my Daith piercing. She made sure everything was clean and that I understood everything she did. She would go through instructions very clear before piercing and after piercing. Very professional. Everyone there was very friendly and willing to work with. Look forward to going there for all piercing needs. I got a spine tattoo and Hayden and the rest of the crew made it such an enjoyable experience. I asked Hayden to change my design and location of my tattoo last second, he was totally flexable and redrew and executed my ideas even better than i couldve imagined. The atmosphere at Next Wave is so positive and the staff have such great attitudes and customer service on the more painful spots they all chated with me to keep me distracted. Stefan is really great. He is quick and efficient and extremely talented. I got a tattoo from him about a week ago and I am so pleased with how it turned out! Plus it’s already healing up so well. We first went into the shop for my daughter’s first tattoo! She found them on IG! Joe was so pleasant! He made my daughter feel so comfortable that she went back for another tattoo at a later date! I just got a helix piercing by Lori and I can’t recommend her enough! She made me feel comfortable and educated about my piercing and how to take care of it. I loved the whole experience of the shop.

Joe is my man! I’ve been going to him since 2017, where I came in with my own drawing and he was able to work it into a tattoo. It was my first tattoo and it covered my entire upper arm and he was super patient and walked me through every step. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but I worked my anxiety up and start getting nervous, but he was able to calmly get me through it and the rest of the tattoo was a breeze. It was such an awesome experience that I’ve been going back to him ever since. He’s now done 4 tattoos on me over the last 4 years, and I will continue to go him no matter what. If you want a good shop, this is the place to go!

Joe has been tattooing me for about 7 years now, I couldn’t imagine going to anyone else to get work done at this point. People stop me to compliment my tattoos and ask me where I get my work done almost every single day! My friend and I were both walk ins for piercings. Lori did an amazing job on both. Lori was extremely thorough and made the entire process comfortable. She even put jewelry in an old piercing that hadn’t closed up yet for me.

My friend and I went in and saw Jordan for matching tattoos and I then I also got a second on the same day. Jordan did a great job and he has a super light touch while tattooing, which isn’t always easy to find in someone. He was also very patient when I had him wipe of a replace the tattoo stencil 3 or 4 times for the perfect placement! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I’ll be back soon!

Went in to get my Daith Piercing closed because one of the little balls on the end had fallen out. Lori was so nice to close it back up and was very helpful with after care instructions! I will definitely be back for more piercings.

My experience here was amazing. I’ve had work done at other places where the tattoo artist was intimidating and cold, but here my tattoo artist Jordan made the experience comfortable and did amazing work. Took my 9 year old daughter to get her ears pierced after a poor experience at a national chain store botched my other daughter’s ear piercing. I got my first tattoo here in 1998. And it is the only place that I have gotten the rest of my work, both ink and piercings. Ive had excellent work every time. My first pieces still look like they were freshly done. This is an extremely clean studio. I wouldnt go to anyone else for my work. This place is GOLD! My teen got his ear piercing done here for his birthday and it was such a great experience for him. Super friendly people made us feel comfortable. Extremely fun, sanitary, and thorough with care instructions. Way better than going to the mall for piercings thats for sure.

Got my septum pierced, and it was such a painless experience. I havent gotten a piercing in 13 years because I was traumatized from the last one I had done. I walked in and they were very fast and thorough. I felt comfortable and am excited to go back for more work!

Had a last minute thing come up and wanted a tattoo, they not only squeezed us in but made the whole experience fun. All stars are for Lori, she is a master at her craft. My first piercing was an industrial, she talked me through the whole process, and helped ease the pain as much as possible. I was in and out, no trouble. After talking with the other artists, I will be back for my first tattoo.

The last tattoo I got here is falling out all over the place especially at the knuckle (see photo.) the ink came all the way out of the purple.Stefan and Lori are amazing people with top notch skills. Stefan saved a rough hand tattoo which was headed otherwise for tattoo removal. Just awesome.

Nextwave is great shop and hires cool people for their artists. Very down to earth and easy to work with. The shop is super clean, friendly and inviting when you walk in. Ask for Joe or Kenneth the shop owners and they will take good care of you whether its your first tattoo or 100th.

I got my first tattoo here with Kenneth. I was so nervous and he explained everything to me. I was unsure of the placement and he was very patient when I wanted to move it around a handful of times. The shop is always so clean and the artists are the funniest people you could meet. I tell all of my friends and family to go here!

I forget his name but it’s the younger guy with blonde-ish surfer looking hair about 5’7. He completely messed my tattoo up. When he first did my tattoo I didn’t complain I just asked if they could touch it up and he did but man that guy must have been new. He cannot tattoo to save his life. My tattoo was pretty simple stars and straight lines, one shade. This guy messed up stars !! He tried to change my idea of the tattoo I wanted when he first sketched it out. I should’ve trusted my gut and walked out when I saw his tattoos. Looks like he let his 6yr old brother draw on him . Never coming back to this place again because of him and writing this review to save someone else from a bad “artist”. Wish I could get a refund; will get my tattoo covered up unfortunately.

I got my septum pierced here and the lady who did it was so amazing. she made me feel very welcome and explained everything before, during, and after it was done. The piercing barely hurt and I feel that the piercer knew exactly what she was doing. I wont go anywhere else for any piercing needs from now on.

I cant say enough great things about Nextwave. I have had multiple tattoos this last year. Kenneth is amazing. My daughter has also had multiple piercings. Everyone is very knowledgeable. They dont make you feel out of place like so many other shops do.

I went to Virtual Reality Tattoo sometime in September - October 2012. I went in and it was a great place. It was extremely clean and well organized, but the aesthetics were soon overshadowed by the welcoming personality of my soon-to-be tattoo artist. He just kind of stood there and stared me down until I said something, not even introducing himself. I was getting two quotes on my wrists, and it was about 50 dollars a piece (pretty reasonable). It took about an hour of complete silence. My artist never talked to me, and it felt like he just wanted to get this over with. I just turned 18, so maybe it was a kid thing? I dont know, but I tried to make some conversation, which turned out really awkward. After an hour, I found out his name was Tim, but only through his business card. It was a horrible first time experience.I would love to come back here - their designs are great, the other guy there seemed friendly, but I will never, ever ask to be tattooed by Tim unless I want to be treated like Im just there to give him money.Overall I recommend getting inked at Club Tattoo for their artists.

They are AWESOME! I have gotten two tattoos here and I absolutely love them! Special shout out to Tom and Jordan. Theyre super professional and just downright damn good artists! I will most certainly be coming back for future ink.

My girlfriend and i had a simple but very cool tattoo done by Keith on our wrists. I’ve had my nose pierced, ears pierced, and a few tattoos done by this shop now and it’s safe to say I really don’t want to go anywhere else. All of the staff is wonderful but huge shoutout and thank you to Hayden, JZ, & Lori. Very professional, friendly, and well educated. Definitely my go to place.

Lola gave me a lip piercing, I went in for snake bites but I couldnt handle after the first one, she was extremely careful and took my pain into consideration and was super sweet when I told her I couldnt do the second one. I highly recommend her for any piercing, she tells you whats going to happen before she pierces you, and let me know when she was grabbing the needle so I could close my eyes. Ive never had a piercer like that. She Is what I love to see in a piercer. She makes sure youre calm and ready to go and will stop if need be.

People travel from other states to get work done at Next Wave because of the talented artists here. That includes me, I cant seem to find another shop that can match the quality, cleanliness and professionalism. I have recommended them to many friends and family and they all feel the same way!

This is the second location for this shop, and it is definitely needed. The amount of skilled artists under the Next Wave brand outgrew the first location! All of these artists have unique niches that can fit all different styles of clientele. I am definitely looking forward to my next visit!

Bestie and I walked in one evening to have tooth gems adorned. Lori Needles was a dream to work with! I explained what I was looking for and she gave me advice on the size and placement of the gems based on my tooth size and shape. The install was no thang and she had me double check everything before curing the glue to ensure I was one happy customer. We were discussing how I had wanted my nose piercing switched out to a ring but I wasnt able to do it myself because of my long nails. She took a look and found a ring that was the correct size and got it switched out for me. Easy peasy! Ive gotten many compliments on my tooth gems and have been able to happily refer Lori Needles and Next Wave Tattoo!

I was a walk in, to get my bellybutton pierced it was a great experience it wasn’t quite and awkward, they were talkative and made me comfortable in the room. I would definitely go back to get more piercings and definitely would go back to get some tattoos. Really loved the service and quality.

The staff was super friendly and knew their stuff, but I got my medusa and my bellybutton pierced here and they BOTH turned out crooked. Not to mention the piercer pierced over scar tissue on my bellybutton. The healing process was so so painful and it could have easily been avoided had he been just a tad more precise with what angle he was sticking the needle in.

Joe Clayton did a large king tut piece in black and gray on my arm and it looks amazing. His experience and attention to detail is phenomenal. I will absolutely be back for more custom jobs by Joe.

Got a nose piercing there. The guy was crazy pretentious and rude to me about everything. Ended up piercing an artery, which bled so much, I had to seek emergency medical care. My mother called the shop and they said it was my fault for not caring for it right....it was the next day.... I hope that piercer doesnt work there any more. Or anywhere. Dude needs an attitude adjustment with his paying customers, especially ones he royally screwed up on.

Hands down best shop ive been to. I started getting tattoos when i was 11. my dad would get his tattoos and i would get my fingernails. that was 31 years ago and now im almost covered head to toe. ive got some experience under the belt so trust me when i say this is a great place to go. wouldn’t recommend anywhere else! this ones the best!

Joe has done nearly all of my tattoos and he’s the only one I’ll go to. Love his art and love him. He makes it fun and is wonderful to sit with.

Dude is never in hie shop to look at piercings after he does them and things are going wrong. I had been trying to get some outta my ear that he messed up on and was hurting me like mad crazy! I had to go to a whole new shop to get them taken out just to hear that he knew tom and tom messed up my hears and he was shocked tom did them since he hasnt dont piercings in a hot min. And alot of people have been coming up sick!!!!! I wouldnt go here for no sells 20 bucksnor not for a special day they do. I lost over 100 bucks cause I had to take them all out cause of how bad he messed up my ears and parts wont heal right. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOUR WANTING TO WASTE MONEY AND GET HEADACHES AND BE SICK! Dont make my mistake.

Virtual Reality is the only place I go. I got several tattoos done here, some of my own design, and one in a very bad, painful spot. It hurt so bad I was shaking. Tim took his time and knew exactly when to take a break to keep the pain from pushing me past my limits. Its amazing how well it turned out with my shaking. Patient, professional, gorgeous work.

I DONT EVEN WANT TO GIVE 1 STAR!!!I was a customer so was my son and daughter. NOT ANYMORE!! The customer service in this place is non-existent. I received a customer appreciation email from them that stated to show appreciation $13 tatts/piercings on this day 11/16/18. I work full-time, so I call to find out what I need to do to not miss out..told NO APPOINTMENTS TAKEN, JUST WALK INS FROM NOON TO 9PM!! I said I will be in than at 7pm. Response: no problem. This was at 4pm!!! Get there at 7pm with a sign posting NO MORE TATTOOS.So I talk to the manager to explain. Basically, the response was OH WELL! THEY STARTED A LIST A COUPLE HOURS AGO AND THE LIST IS FULL. Why wasnt I told that when I called!!You know how many emails you sent out..you should have planned this customer appreciation event accordingly!!! Piss poor management and customer service.

I went in for a starfish and sand dollar and seashell tattoo on my foot. Tim was the tattoo artist. He was not customer service oriented at all. Didnt talk much. Didnt introduce himself to me. Just came out from the back and said what do you want. And totally messed up my tattoo. The starfish wasnt the color I wanted. He totally messed up on the sand dollar and seashell. Im so very disappointed! I will Never go back there or recommend that tattoo shop to anybody!!!!!! Thumbs down the worst job Ive ever had done. 👎👎👎👎

Do NOT get pierced at this place. I cant speak on the quality of their tattoos, but I had my second lobes done and not only did the guy screw up the placement of the left ear and have to re pierce it, but he screwed up my tongue piercing so bad that I had him take it out then and there. He even dropped the needle on me when doing the tongue piercing. No after care advice and didnt even tell me what gauge he was using for each needle. DO NOT GET PIERCED HERE.

The people were very nice but I will not be coming back here. The line work was awful and my tattoo was blown out and had double lines. I had to go to my old tattoo artist and thankfully he was able to fix it.

I got a tattoo down my spine yesterday from Stefan and he was amazing! We started right on time, he made sure that I was comfortable the entire time and it turned out just how I wanted it!

They got me in and out in a timely manner, you could tell the piercer I got was very experienced and knew exactly what to do. Its been 2 weeks and my nose is healing nicely!

I had a walk-in appointment and was tattooed by Goofy. Super nice guy, my tattoo was small but I love it!

Called virtual reality and a girl answered the phone on friday the 13th said they were booked and told us we could go in tomorrow the 14th and it was optional to do a deposit or not and then we went waited an hour outside and she turned us away when they told us otherwise over the phone. Thought customers came 1st mind you not no one else was really there, there was 1 guy infront of us! Im super dissapointed and usually come here all the time!
