Downtown Tattoos and Piercing

My sister and I were visiting from out of town and had some extra time and decided to check out the shop and their flash. Everyone was so nice and the whole shop had an amazing vibe. I ended up getting an alligator piece from Jason - he drew it up super fast, it was so beautiful, and his work is exceptional! My sister got a lime wedge from Mike and it looks great. They both have super clean lines and were lovely to work with!

I had an incredibly positive experience with Downtown Tattoos. I walked into another shop prior to this one but did not feel like I was being given the time of day, so I left. As soon as I walked into Downtown, however, I felt very welcome. The person who greeted me was very willing to answer any and all questions. When I came back to set up an appointment, I was able to have a consult with Jim right away. I immediately knew that I was being heard and that I was in good hands. Jim designed something that hit on exactly what I was looking to do, and he was incredibly helpful with figuring out the size and location that would be best for the tattoo. He was personable throughout the process, and I was always at ease with him. I got the exact tattoo that I wanted in a setting that was both comfortable and safe; I’ve had a few other tattoos done, but this one felt the most welcoming. Jim and the entire staff at Downtown Tattoos did a bang-up job creating an environment that made me feel comfortable. If I am ever back in the area, I would not hesitate to go back to them for more work. I highly recommend them.

I booked with Henry and he did a great job. I told him the basic idea of what i wanted and he drew it up in his own way and I loved it. A great guy, a good attitude, and a damn good artist.

Jim was great!! I was able to make an appointment same day, and the appointment process was seamless. When I got there, Alyssa welcomed me and got me situated. Jim, the chosen artist, talked me through what would be required to make this piece look great. Jim even talked me through best placement to maintain the fine line-work required for my piece. This is my third tattoo, and Jim is the first artist that I truly connected with. A great, down-to-earth artist, and wonderful conversationalist. I’m so happy with the art and overall vibe, that I will get my next one from him too. He brought my vision to life, with a genuine and professional approach.

Super friendly staff. Came in as a walk in with five people, all of us wanting tattoos. They were SUPER busy and the wait was about an half a hour. But they KILLED our tattoos. All of the tattoos turned out amazing and they did them so fast. Amazing shop. Amazing tattoos. Amazing staff.

Got my two tattoos from two different artist on different days and they did amazing!!! If I’m ever back in New Orleans, I’ll be back to this tattoo shop! Thank you Dylan and Jason for inking me up! The owners are great and polite as well!

The staff here are very warm and friendly. Customer service was excellent, not only that, the atmosphere was top notch. They were very clean, well organized, and talented. They took time and pride with their work. Would definitely return whenever I go back to New Orleans.

Great shop! Great work! I get intimidated sometimes going in to places especially tattoo shops. But they are so friendly and fun and nice! I’ll keep going there for sure! And I live in Long Beach CA! But I’ll wait to get my tattoos until I make a trip there! It’s so fun and so cool. I LOVE IT!

I went in for a belly button piercing but I didn’t end up getting it - I’m giving them a good review because their piercer Bree did a check on me and was so honest and sweet about me not having the right anatomy. I have a lot of piercings and I’ve met many piercers who will just lie and take your money which is SOOO dangerous. I would fully trust her to give me a piercing so definitely ask for her!!

We are really excited to come here from Detroit. My sister had her phone stolen when we were down in Nola and when we called this shop to try to explain the situation and try to cancel the tattoos, they refused to refund our deposits. When drawing out the design, my tattoos artist clearly got frustrated that I asked him to change it (once) and looked at me and verbatim said “where did you see this tattoo because I see it all the time and it’s so unoriginal”. Tattoo artist was really rude and acted like I was impeding on his day. Also was so heavy handed and I don’t know if he was doing that intentionally. Tried talking to him and getting him out of his shell and was met with so much hostility and rude, snippy short answers. I don’t know if he was in a bad mood or something that day or what. Charged me $300 for this small tattoo, not including tip. I thought it was a joke at first. I know it’s in downtown Nola, but the workers were so cold and standoffish here and it’s so grossly overpriced that I cannot recommend this shop.

I would highly recommend Jeremy if you are into fine line, black and white tattoos, which are his specialty! He took his Time to make sure every aspect of the tattoo exceeded expectations. He made a 4+ hour tattoo experience easy to sit through as he kept the conversation moving the whole time. Asked to sit facing the window so you can watch all the pedestrians tripping on the curb as they walk by; it’s hilarious and takes your mind off of the pain!

Went there on a whim with my friends and got my first tattoo done by Jim! He was absolutely amazing and down to earth- not to mention great at tattooing. All the people there were friendly and there was absolutely no pressure to do anything! I want to return when I get my next one!!

I visited yesterday April 13th and the receptionist (dont know her name)made me feel welcome. She was kind, knowledgeable and attentive. Henry is man! He understood the assignment very clean neat lines. I 💜 my tattoo! If you are considering ink I recommend 😊 photos coming soon

What a great tattoo experience! A friend and I walked in this afternoon looking to get matching tats. Henry was behind the counter when we walked in so he asked what we wanted, drew it up in about 45 seconds and knocked out both our tattoos in about an hour. Fast, clean, personable work. Henry is a pro. Go here!

I have been coming to Downtown Tattoo’s for Almost 3 years now and definitely the best tattoo shop I have had the experience to deal with. Terry do a full sleeve cover for me and when we were done with that one we moved on to my other arm and his work is one of a kind could not be anymore happier with the out come. My daughter had Jim tattoo her and she loved the experience and already wants him to do more on her. Terry is now working on a memorial piece on my wife’s shoulder for her mom and she is blown away by the detail he is putting into her piece. I highly recommend everybody to go to Downtown Tattoo’s all there artist do amazing work and they treat everyone like family.

We are in town visiting for my birthday weekend from indianapolis. Decided to get tattoos. Jim was super cool, friendly, and fun to talk to. He killed it on my mermaid tattoo. Henry was chill and had a good vibe. Sage at the front desk was very sweet and helpful! Will be back next time we visit!

My sister and I both got tattoos here and had a fairly negative experience (granted they were walk-in appointments)... the tattoo artists were cranky, they charged $180 for a small star tattoo (size of quarter, no shading), and $160 for a small crescent moon that looks patchy and banana-like.... OVERALL the experience mixed with the price is not worth it.Edit: We got tattooed by your artists on Friday, March 22nd 2024 around 4:30pm.My sister, Emmaline, (who has the crescent moon in the picture) was tattooed by Billy. I just added a photo of the actual care sheet that my sister received and followed from your shop. I cannot believe that you are trying to deny tattooing us. I just wanted to leave an honest review because we were disappointed!

Jim did an amazing job! So happy with my tattoo! He is very light handed, I could have sat there all day and let him tattoo.

I got this beautiful piece done by Terry. I’ve posted the inspiration (found in an old Sailor Jerry book), as well as the tattoo just after it was finished, and after a few days of healing. Very clean shop, professional work, and I was surprised at how quickly Terry was able to finish this piece. I would absolutely return here if I’m in NOLA again.

We’re from Oregon on our honeymoon and wanted to do something spontaneous. We came in and did the $100 get what you get gum ball machine tattoo. Everyone was SO NICE and welcoming. And we love our tattoos. Definitely recommend this tattoo shop. And if we ever make it back this way, we will come back to get another tattoo! These pictures are taken 3 days after we got them.

Jeremy was great but don’t really get how this tattoo wasn’t the shop minimum. After tax and 20% tip spent $165 which felt way overpriced.

My wife and I went here for a tattoo and are both very happy that we did. The service was great from helping me decide what size tattoo to aftercare as well. Shawn was my artist and was awesome. He answered the questions I had and was very professional. He put me at ease as it was my first tattoo. I highly recommend Shawn and this shop because right from stepping into the shop everything was first class. This picture is with the second skin on. Also, the shop itself was cool and right next to a bar on Frenchman Street if you need a little liquid courage.

Walked in and got my nose pierced by bree. she was super nice, answered all my questions and made sure everything she used was sterilized. this was my fourth time getting my nose pierced and she was by far the most gentle piercer ive ever had. highly highly recommend. @piercingsby_bree

I saw that this shop did Get What You Get tattoo. After reading reviews I decided to stop in on vacation. I asked if anyone had time to do one. All of the artists had clients, but Bianca had a short break between two clients at 7, so they told me to come back. For a random tattoo this wasnt random at all. My great grandfather was Jewish. He escaped Poland during WWII, and the rest of his family was never heard from again, so we assume the worst. My moms family is still Jewish to this day, so the fact that Kilroy came out of the machine could not have been more perfect. My other great grandma was a bit psychic, and passed down some of her sensitive/intuitive traits to my grandmother, mom, and myself. She is also the reason Im obsessed with the paranormal, so the magic 8 ball was a perfect fit for me too. The tattoo basically encompasses both sides of my family.Bianca was incredible to work with! She was so kind, and we had a great conversation while she was tattooing me. For a tattoo that she didnt design I felt like she colored it perfectly. I have a large American Traditional tattoo up my side, so I felt like this tattoo also ended up fitting the theme. Her line work is great too. I cant find a single flaw in the tattoo. I will be coming back to see her for another tattoo next time Im in NOLA.

Got my nose piercing switched out by Heather, and she was fantastic! Honestly, understanding, patient, helpful, friendly, I could not recommend her more. She helped me pick the right size and style of what I wanted. She was also so gentle when swapping my piercing jewelry yet which is always a sign of an excellent piercer. Definitely go here for all your piercing needs!

Have been going to Downtown Tattoo since they opened the doors!! They are not only great tattoo artists but great human beings as well!! They make you feel like family and are people you can trust with your skin and money! Love them!!!

My family and I entered the shop. While we waited for service, a woman at the front desk told us to not record videos. We were not recording videos. We were watching a reel and I was taking selfies with the window as my backdrop. Two men next to us were yelling. Therefore, I inquired about the nature of the concern of playing audio. The tattoo artists proceeded to curse at me. I am a woman and they were men. The manager put us out. It was a very selectively predatory experience. I do not enjoy nor appreciate hostile people. We were targeted. There are better tattoo shops to spend money at in New Orleans. Explore other options.

I went into Downtown Tattoos with a friend of mine. We travel and get tattoos together. She knew exactly what she wanted, and I had a few ideas. The woman at the desk was kind and informative. We got appointments for that night! She got a beautiful flower on her leg at a very reasonable price! My artist was Jim, a very nice guy who made my tattoo idea becoming a work of art! I got the Flur de lis with water color splatter on the back of my forearm. If I ever go back to New Orleans, I know where Ill be going to get some fresh ink!

Jim is the absolute best!! He’s so light handed and listens to you and the perfectionist in him resonates with me! Definitely going back to see him

First time here working w Josh for what is going to be a Star Wars themed leg sleeve... staff was courteous, took my personal well-being in to consideration and worked with me to make this happen. Will be back in this city to do more work, hopefully sooner, rather than later.

I got a new tattoo from Jim Couturier yesterday (Sunday 8/7/2023) while I was visiting NOLA (Im originally from Maryland)! I walked in around 1:30 - 2 PM, and had to wait about 2 hours to actually start getting my tattoo (I personally did not mind because I know this shop is pretty popular and in a touristy area!). I verbalized to Jim what I was looking to get (a stamp of a magnolia flower with the number 28) and he took about 30 minutes to create the gorgeous tattoo! I so so so appreciate Jims attention to detail while placing the stencil and while tattooing my leg! He made conversation with me while doing the tat, and he made me feel welcome in a new state. Everyone at the shop was so nice and I got vibes that theyre a big family! 10/10 would recommend!!!

Awesome experience getting a 5x5 piece done by Tracy. Took her 4 hours to complete my new piece and I couldn’t have ask for a more gentle hand. Her ability to bring your vision to life is just as precise as her line work! Fair pricing, easy to get to location, clean shop, and very easy to communicate with prior to going into the shop. While visiting NOLA I came across Downton Tattoos. Jim was my artist and he really listened to what I wanted and the tattoo turned out much better than I thought it could. My expectations were high since the piece is a memorial piece for my late grandmother and Jim made it better than I imagined it could be. I highly recommend Jim at Downtown Tattoos!

In New Orleans on vacation and had a piercing that became swollen and very irritated. Heather seriously went out of her way to get it out of my ear and made sure I was comfortable as I could be. If not for her I probably would have had to go to urgent care. Even the people at the front desk were so comforting and nice. Heather was extremely knowledgeable and helped me tremendously. definitely recommend this place!!!

Downtown Tattoos was lovely! Me and my mother came in as walkins inquiring about getting matching fleur des lis but in different spots. The man behind the counter was lovely- they had availability but ultimately we decided we wanted to schedule for 2 days later. We were booked with Jim, and when we got there he was unbelievably sweet. He took our inspiration photos and was able to combine and draw up a beautiful linework art deco fleur des lis based off of our inspo pics. He was open and honest about his concerns for ensuring evenness of the fleur dea lis, and legibility. I got my fleur des lis on my sternum, and he applied the stencil over and over again until it was completely straight and even. The line work on the tattoo is BEAUTIFUL, it is unbelievably straight and even. The photo doesnt do it justice as my camera angle is a bit wonky, but the placement is absolutely perfect. Me and my mom cannot recommend downtown tattoos or Jim enough!

I have used Jim 3 times for tattoos and he has killed it every time. My latest was a hammerhead shark dressed as a cop, in memory of my dad. Everyone here is spectacular but everything Jim does makes me happy. Will continue coming back every trip to the big easy!

Bree was absolutely amazing & delightful to get pierced by! Gave me great advice about my piercing placement and I ultimately got a slightly different piercing that better fit the kind of jewelry I wanted to wear post-healing based on her super helpful advice. Piercing room in the back was super clean & calming and Bree walked me through every single step so there were no surprises. Will definitely be back for my next piercing, thanks Bree :)

I came in Saturday April 22nd to get my nipples pierced. Bree let me know with my breast reduction I had that my nipples were not up to par to pierce with the shape of them . I was super sad but the honest feedback given with my anatomy , she was very honest with why we couldn’t do it. We talked for a while and I appreciate her honesty ! I feel a lot of piercers down here would have taken my money and just would have done it . She explained very precisely on why she wouldn’t do it . I recommend her for any piercings wanted due to her being professional!! . I will be back in august for a tattoo consult . This place is very professional and very knowledgeable! 10/10

Even we had no appointment and had to wait 2 hours to get our tattoos done but Mr. rRyan was an awesome artist and our matching tattoos from our trip to New Orleans came out great

1 tattoo and 2 piercings over the last few years! Their piercing person is amazing and Im super proud that she has let her hair go gray! While I love my tattoo, the artist was very heavy handed in a rather delicate place. It turned out lovely but hurt like hell for quite a while. I have many tattoos so this was a first for me.

This is my first tattoo, I was very nervous. Kevin listened to my vision to memorialize my parents, 20 minutes later I was amazed with a beautiful drawing.Kevin did a beautiful job, so much detail. 2 hours later, I was crying with emotion and joy. I couldn’t be happier with my results.Following their post instructions, my healing process has been a breeze.Thanks to all there who encouraged me through my apprehension to have my vision realized.

Everyone is super nice and the artists tailor their work to you (as they should!). I felt super welcomed there and it’s clear that there’s so much love at the shop and that the artists are all willing to help each-other out. They did my consultation one day and tattoo the next even with me reaching out the day before. My idea was executed perfectly and further than my expectations. I couldn’t recommend them enough, super excited to go back next time I’m in town!

Absolutely amazing Experience, it was my first tattoo and I was a bit nervous. They made me feel at home, and I felt totally comfortable during the whole process. Terry took his time and positioned the tattoo in the perfect spot and it came out better than I could ever imagine. My wife had the same excellent service. I went here a couple of weeks ago to get a tattoo for my first trip to NOLA. Great staff! I saw Jim. He was very knowledgeable and went through the sizing and placement of tattoo to make it perfect and it is! He is very professional and took his time. Didnt really hurt. Took time to go through after care for tattoo. It is healing great and looks awesome. I get a lot of compliments on the work and vibrance of the black ink. Definitely coming here again next time Im in NOLA!

We stayed in the Airbnb above this shop on our trip to New Orleans this past weekend, and my dad and brother went in on Friday as walkins and got incredible tattoos. My mom, husband and I were so inspired that we each got one too! We all got worked on by different artists and can say they are all extremely talented. Jeremy did fine line work for me and I couldn’t be happier. Dylan did amazing shading work for my husband and Henry collaborated on designs for my parents and brother and his work is masterful. The staff was so incredibly friendly, skilled, and professional. Pricing was reasonable - tip these guys WELL if you decide to stop in! They are worth it - what a fun memory my family has now! Also, the Airbnb above the shop is phenomenal - check it out when booking your next trip to New Orleans :)

Came in with my buddy on our last night in NOLA and Im so glad we did. Not only did we both come out of it with beautiful and clean tattoos, but the customer service was great, the artists were personable, and the shop is clean and in a great location. I have a new favorite tattoo. Bobby from ace was filling in for mine and Joshua did my friends. Id visited the shop a few months ago to inquire about a septum piercing. As I have residual effects of Bells Palsy, I was understandably hesitant. Bree suggested I purchase a clip-on to see how Id look. I wore this around a bit, then scheduled my appointment with Bree.I was in tears almost from the beginning. Not from the pain (neglible), but at how comfortable, happy and safe Bree made me feel. I was so ecstatic, even Bree began to tear up.Id ABSOLUTELY recommend Downtown Tattoos for your piercings. My experience could not have been better.The location is also ideal.

I got tattooed by Jeremy and my daughter got tattooed by Dylan, it was her very first tattoo! We had the absolute best experience with this shop and can’t say enough good things about the entire staff, the artists, their communication, professionalism, cleanliness, support for someone getting their first tattoo, aftercare, literally everything was exceptional. I highly recommend this shop and hope to visit it again when I’m in town next. These folks are next level!

I came in Saturday night for nipple piercings and due to personal things I couldn’t get it done but I did leave with a beautiful hood piercing and Bree was AMAZING. She was so personable and honest: blunt and straightforward which I loved I would rather have someone tell me the truth than me get messed up with a piercing that don’t work for me. She talked and made me so comfortable and told me every step she was taking. She made me feel so amazing afterwards!! Love you Bree new time we come to NOLA we coming back ♥️

Id been eyeballing this shop for a while, as theyve got a pile of good artists. Its about an hour drive for me, but my birthday was coming up and this was the first place I knew had a gumball machine for get what you get tattoos... No regerts! Friendly, professional, clean, and talented. My first experience here has been wonderful, and I cant wait to come back for more.

Walked in on a Friday and they were very accommodating with walk ins. A nice and welcoming tattoo parlor. Every artist had amazing work. My friend got a big back piece. My fiancee and myself got get what you get tattoos and all turned out amazing still fresh, but I can wait for them to heal. Friendly staff, clean facility. I know theyre use to alot of walk ins being so close to burbon street, but these artists are amazing will definitely schedule a time slot next time I visit.

I talked to 3 other shops before this one, 2 of them tried to talk me out of what I wanted and the other was not wheelchair accessible. Every one at Downtown was so great, sweet and accommodating for my mom. Bree did 2 perfect little nose piercings and Henry gave me the most adorable owl on my knuckle! I went in for my first tattoo with Jim, I had some details that I hadn’t yet worked out that I wanted to ask him about. He was so honest and up front about how the tattoo I wanted would heal and what we would need to do to make it last. In the end, I decided I needed to think on the design more before going forward with it and didn’t get tattooed. However, I couldn’t have asked for a better artist than Jim, I appreciated his honesty so much! Even though I didn’t leave with a tattoo, I would recommend anyone to Jim!

I walked in on a Thursday night and found a nice little drawing that Jim had put together. He had a lot of great tattoos drawn up and I fell in love with one in particular. Jim has a really great eye and a very light touch. It was a great experience altogether. I would recommend him for first timers and collectors alike!

So my GF wanted to get a gumball machine tattoo from here so we stayed a night in NOLA to do so. 10/10 everything about this place. I got a light bulb out of the machine. My artist, Jeremy, asked to throw some color on my bulb and break the glass. Free hand he just added the details. For a $100 tattoo I am very pleased. I will be back

Ive heard great things from locals about Downtown Tattoos and decided to get a small souvenir tattoo before heading back home. As somebody with a little over $10k in tattoos on my body, I can say that this is the worst tattoo that I have ever received. I would feel more comfortable having my 5 year old niece draw something for me to get tattooed. The local that went with me, who was a regular, has said that he will never go back after seeing how poorly my tattoo turned out. My one piece of advice if youre a tourist - do yourself a favor and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. They can and will run with your money knowing they probably will never see you again.. a 3x1 tattoo that took 40 minutes is not worth $200 even if a professional had done it.EDIT: decided to post a follow-up photo after my tattoo healed. Ended up at the Doctors office after pus started coming out from under my Saniderm, which means that the equipment was not sanitized. Im still not convinced the person that did this tattoo was an artist.EDIT EDIT: the owner said that they charge proper for good work. Fortunately, I posted a picture of the healed tattoo so that you wonderful people can see that the statement above is not true.

My partner and I planned all year for the tattoos we were going to get on our trip to NOLA together. We booked in advance and we were super excited! Come the day of, we specifically made sure not to drink before the appointment. She got there early and the receptionist told her she can go to a nearby bar until her apointment time, my partner had half a beer. Later, it felt like the artist did not feel like having a conversation with her about what she was looking to have done (the beginning of a whole leg piece) he accused her of being intoxicated and would not tattoo her... he was cocky with a Rockstar attitude and wanted to do what he wanted. They also kept the down payment... free money. Btw, I was there too and told them she was not drunk when they pulled me aside and asked me ifshe was.Edit: If this was a review about my tattoo and Terry, I would give it 5 stars. Its a review of our experience and Jims attitude toward the most important person to me. We couldnt get married this year like we planned to, the tattoos were our way of still making that commitment to eachother; getting permanent tattoos that represented one another... but she left empty. As for proof, judgment of her personality is not proof of intoxication... unless a blood alcohol test was completed without consent or you followed her to the bar with a camera and recorded her consuming more than the one drink she said she had, it is not proof, it is an allegation. Threats of publically posting what would be out of context videos to make us look bad, just furthers my sentiment of our experience and Downtown Tattoos business ethics.

I got my fourth tattoo here on a weekend friends trip to NOLA. Jim did my tattoo and he was extremely nice and did an awesome job on my tattoo! Probably my most favorite one yet. And Shaun did my husband’s and it looks incredible. Very impressed! So impressed that my husband said he would actually drive back each time for 4 hours just to get the rest of his tattoos.

I couldn’t be happier about my experience here. The staff was amazing and extremely helpful. The artist I was blessed with was Jim and he went above and beyond to give me the tatto I didn’t even know I wanted but definitely needed! I was trying to cover up a small wrist tattoo and didn’t realize what all choices I really had. I got an amazing rose tattoo and let me tell you the craftsmanship is beyond anything I would’ve gotten anywhere else. A big thank you to everyone at Downtown Tattoo for making this an experience and not just another transaction!

This has nothing to do with the quality of tattoo, we didn’t make it that far.I called and scheduled 2 tattoos the day before our appointments and paid the deposit to hold our spot for 9:00pm.That next day we could not make it and they said it was no problem then would just bump us to the next day. (Everything was fine, until here)They called around 5 o’clock and asked if we could move our schedule up, we could not. Our appointments were for 9 and that’s what we scheduled for.Me and my friend show up at 9:03. The shop proceeds to take two people off the street l, getting random tattoos from a vending machine and allow them to go first. Then tell us that since we were late we can’t go.So they’re forcing us to pick another time because the deposit is nonrefundable. We can’t do that due to the work schedule.So no tattoos, no deposit refund, bull* excuse to not get the tattoo and zero help. Just a heads up.

The woman at the desk was so rude to us. I wanted my first ever tattoo and she was fed up over the fact that the tattoo design Id emailed to her hadnt come fast enough. She was sarcastic and condescending as well. Really discouraged me from getting my first tattoo. Wont be going there again.

Walked in off street with idea. Henry (Arthur) listened to our idea, immediately started sketching and made modifications as he talked and understood our vision of what we wanted. Very professional; helpful and patient during the whole process, until he had on paper what we wanted. We scheduled for the next day at opening to get our tattoos done. Everyone we came in contact with was awesome. Price very reasonable, actually less than expected. Execution and recieving of tattoos was flawless. Finished product was better than expected. Would take 8 hrs drive to have him do more work, without questions.

Got a tattoo done today by Billy and it turned out amazing! He was really helpful suggesting placement, fine details, and sticking to my budget. Also talked to Bree about some piercings and jewelry and she was very informative and kind. Shop is clean, all the staff are really nice, and were maintaining proper social distancing, sanitizing, & mask procedures. Definitely recommend Downtown! 😄

Tried to book a tattoo, receptionist got me a slot, asked what I wanted (nothing major-just an add on), all was ok. Then they asked the artists none of them wanted it even though they had an open diary, and tried to put it on someone after I left NOLA. These aint artists, these are one and dones that can only do the stamps they practice every day.... Lesson to all, stick with the artist you know.

Highly recommended, I came from out of town Florida. Was looking to get something small simple that wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg but also great work. This was definitely the place! Stopped in like 45 minutes before they closed for a spur of the moment tattoo, expecting to have to book time for the next day but they got me and my friend in then! We both wanted the same thing, & they were done by 2 different artists, so theyre very different but we had ample time to say that wasnt what we wanted had we wanted matching tattoos. Her artist customized hers to fit with her existing sleeve, & my artist gave me a beautifully shaded, quality piece. Pricey, but its quality work in a touristy area.

My husband and I got a tattoo from Pablo. The whole experience was perfect. Pablo gave great advice on my design idea and the overall execution of the tattoo was amazing. The idea may have looked simple but the lines needed a high level of technical skills and patience which Pablo has in spades. It looks like he used a ruler the lines were so straight. Very pleased with my experience here! I gave Kevin my “stick figure” drafts and some screenshots of what I wanted. He drew up a design I loved and I’m very happy with it! Also, was able to do a jewelry change for my nose; great selection of Neometal jewelry and the piercer (I’m so sorry I’m forgetting their name!) was friendly and knowledgeable!

Visiting here from Wisconsin and Wayne has to be the best tattoo artist I’ve ever been to. I’m not too sure about the others customer service but his was phenomenal. 3 of us got a tattoo from him and he actually listens and makes you feel like all of your ideas are important. Very creative and a true artist who is genuine. I definitely recommend him and will be back!

Didn’t even get a chance to get a tattoo. Was told one thing…then told another & in order for me to book another appt it would’ve been another $50 deposit. Which I was never told that the deposit wasn’t refundable.As I stated I was told one thing then another. This deposit was paid in person. I did not book over the phone or via email. Never was told about a grace period either but thanks.

BILLY did such an incredible job! I walked in and had such a quick consultation, and came in the next day for my appointment. Seeing his drawing blew me away, I was so amazed at the vision we shared after talking for just 5 mins. The tattoo went surprisingly fast, he was not heavy handed and he was completely into the little suggestions I had for color/shading. I still cant get over how much more beautiful the tattoo was than I could even imagine. Favorite tat, favorite tat experience.

It has been a month since I got my tattoo and it was amazing. It was very short notice for my 18th birthday and Tracy B. was such a blessing! she was very easy to communicate with and even easier to set an appointment up with! the shop itself is clean and orderly and everyone is so nice! The tattoo itself didn’t take that long (only one hour) and it’s healed up perfectly! the aftercare aid was so helpful and i’ll definitely go back again for future tattoos!

Amazing experience!! I came with my friend and got my septum piercing, and he was really good about walking me through the process. Very calm presence and a genuinely sweet dude.It did take three attempts because the piercing kept sitting weird, but it didn’t hurt and I have a deviated septum (my bad team!). I’m glad he asked to redo it instead of just telling me it looked good, too, because I’ve had piercers who just stab you and send you out even if the piercing looks ridiculous. The team here care about their work and they want things their work to look good but more so, they want to be sure that YOU love it.Definitely come here for some sick tats and awesome piercings!!!

Jim worked with me to design an amazing tattoo! I went in with an idea that was kind of okay, and he asked me to explain why I wanted that. He suggested a much better idea and got my input on colors and types of flowers. When I questioned one of his design elements, he showed me what it would look like with the replacement I suggested. He was right; it looked weird. In the end, I got something way more beautiful than I expected that really captured the reason I wanted the tattoo in the first place. I’m glad he stuck with his artistic vision, and I don’t feel like he pressured me to get anything I didn’t want. On top of that, I’ve gotten tons of compliments from strangers on the street!

This is one of the best tattoo shops in NOLA. Im working on a sleeve now with Tracy and shes done another tattoo for me before. Tracy and all the artists there are talented and professional, the studio also has a welcoming, clean, and friendly atmosphere. I cant recommend Tracy individually enough, she can do literally anything. Im getting all of my tattoos from her in the foreseeable future. The shop also takes walk-ins!

The girl at the counter (I think her name was Reese) was incredibly helpful and made sure we had all the information we needed and even gave honest, insightful suggestions. Our artist Cameron was very patient with all of our questions and helped us revise and settle on a great design and did a solid job. Everyone here was polite and professional.

I visited this establishment on June 7, 2017, and after my visit, I must say that I highly recommend this tattoo and piercing shop. The staff was friendly and professional. I chose this shop based on other reviews. I had to see the piercing technician, Jared, and he was wonderful. He was very professional, and he is knowledgeable in the area of piercing. A definite plus for me, too, was that the shop is very clean and their practice of keeping instruments, etc. sterile are very good. A thumbs up for me!

Came in a couple weeks ago to get a tattoo for my birthday. Shop was very clean and my tattoo artist, Henry Rhodes, was straight up awesome to work with and get a tattoo from! Went in with a flexible idea and left with a beautiful rose tattoo that exceeded my expectations by far!!! Highly recommend the shop and I will definitely return!

I spent around $600 on two ear piercings with jewelry here.The experience was good, until one piercing swelled horribly a couple months later, and then turned into a what appears to be a keloid scar.I called them several times as well as emailed as I had no idea what was happening to the piercing and what I needed to do to fix it.No one ever responded to me.

Walked in on a Monday night. Jason was available and took my wife and brother in-law for their hummingbird tattoos. Priced 4x3 tattoo with color at $200. They took around an hour and a half each. We left very happy with the beautiful work.

I have 11 tattoos and Tracy is the best artist I have had. Even if i move out of town, she will be the only artist I go back to. She is super chill and accommodating in the most desirable shop in New Orleans. Peace.

Treated myself to a birthday piercing in January. The piercer accidentally hit a small vessel in my ear but it wasnt anything detrimental. He corrected the mistake and did a fantastic job on the piercing. He said it would take 6-9 months to heal (industrial). Its been 7 months and its pretty close to healed. Reasonably priced, friendly, fast service which was awesome, considering its on Frenchmen street where theres tons of walk in business that keeps them busy.

I really enjoy this place. Its clean and staff are fairly friendly. Be prepared to show/email them a picture of what youre looking for when you get here. Walk-ins are usually welcome at most times, but be patient if they ask you to wait. My favorite is their $80 You Get What You Roll flash tattoos. Check it out.

They do excellent work. By far the best shop in New Orleans. Every artist is extremely talented and knowledgeable. Their prices are very reasonable and the art is well worth twice what they charge for it. If I could rate higher I most definitely would.

I walked in Sunday night and I got an awesome tattoo from the Get What Ya Get machine. I wasnt in love with the first option so I just paid another $20 and I got something I liked. Everybody in the shop was super friendly and the professional. The shop itself is tidy and looks amazing. My tattoo was done by Bianca and its honestly the best looking tattoo Ive ever got. I totally recommend Downtown Tattoos and Piercing if you live in the area or just visiting like I was. Best souvenir ever.

Amazing shop. Everyone in here is warm and friendly which you dont always find when looking to get body modification. Henry is a fabulous artist with a soft touch and killer line work. A cool perk about this place is that its right on Frenchman wbich means you can get drinks and food within steps after or before your appointment. Went there because it was highly recommended. 3 of us wanted matching tatoos and they had 3 different artist doing them. Both friends tattoos looked amazing just like what we wanted. Mine however not even close. Artist took it upon himself to shade it how he wanted to and it looked terrible. Told him I didnt like it, he was rude and unprofessional. Used white on top of the bad shading and now looks worse then it already it and of course is infected because of the double penatration. Will not go back as we drove from Oklahoma to get them while we were there as a memory. Not the memory I was wanting to have and the price of the tattoo was $150 for a small black tattoo. Not at all impressed.

I am from the DC area and I am visiting for Halloween. Long story short, I had a tat that I got 12 years ago and wanted to be covered up. The biggest thing was I had no idea what I wanted I just knew I wanted something. It was nice and easy as they have books for all their artists to show their work.I had the privilege of Jim as my artist and he does unbelievab work!! To the point that he will now be my tattooist and I will be traveling back to New Orleans anytime I want work to be done.5 stars is really not enough!!

Went to this tattoo show a few months back and ended up with a misprinted up tattoo.. I went in before a night out and when I told them what I wanted they typed it up correctly. However, I ask for multiple reprints in various sizes and fonts and somewhere within the reprints they left out a letter. I was feeling severely rushed through the whole process and was given major attitude for trying to get the right size and font! Tattoos are a major commitment and you deserve patience through the whole process. I should have backed out when I saw how eager they were to get me in and out, no wonder why they have you sign a waiver to not sue.

This happened a year ago but still bothers me. Two friends were charged forty bucks each for their piercings. I just went in to get jewelry changed and was charged fifty bucks. Most likely due to the fact that I was obviously a homeless traveler and probably being discriminated against. I can think of no other reason as I was polite and respectful. Funny thing is, I would have given the guy twenty bucks as a tip since I just got done working all winter, but he was probably just fine with the extra ten he upcharged.

I researched artists in New Orleans and found Billy to be the best fit for my project. I made an appointment with Billy about 3 - 4 weeks in advance, sent him reference pictures, and contacted him some days before our appointment for a quoted price. Later on, we both agreed to reschedule due to parades going on in the area. When I went to the shop, it was clean, cool (temperature and decoration-wise), the front desk person was helpful and chill, Billy came to the front and we got to work. He placed the stencil, I didnt like part of it, so he took that part off, no questions asked. He edited what parts of it I wanted edited and we were both stoked on the piece. His technique made for a way less painful tattooing experience than I was expecting. Hes been doing this for years and studying how to make the experience more comfortable for his clients. We had good conversation, took breaks when we needed to, and the tattoo came out looking hella boss and under the quoted price. I didnt have cash to tip him at the time, but dropped off a thank you card with a tip a few days later. Taking time to plan your tattoo, research the artist, make an appointment, establish good communication with the artist, and having patience when you go to get the tattoo can make a way better experience for you and the artist. A tattoo will be on YOU forever, so YOU should take the time to be courteous and communicative with your artist (who is also a person and probably gets sick of pumping out 10,000 walk-in fleur de lis tattoos every week), the tattoo will come out looking better and therell be a better vibe to the entire experience. Unfortunately the front desk employee was very rude and mean. Shaking her head, talking about us to other staff. We would have walked out the way Melissa treated us but they had our fifty dollar deposit. We love NOLA for all the friendly people we meet! Not here! She was the rudest person I have ever met in New Orleans. Horrible experience!

It was Christmas Eve and my birthday. I was wanting a tattoo commemorating my oldest daughters life. They had artists standing around yet shop was unfriendly and unsympathetic to it being my birthday or a commemorative tattoo. Acted like they didnt need or want our business. My youngest daughter and I took it to Ben and Clyde at Mid City Voodoux Tattoos and they did awesome jobs!

Came in for a tattoo while on vacation based on a recommendation from a local tour guide. Very fast, friendly and professional! Will be back if Im ever back in town. Top notch tattoo experience from Terry.

What a joke of an establishment. If you’re looking to be tattooed by pretentious jerks then this is your place. Came into this shop and was quoted an hour wait. Waited for an hour and 45 minutes. Was told we would be next. We watched two people walk in and walk out. The girl at the counter ignored us on several occasions and not only that, but was telling the artists how “annoying” our tattoos are. The people here are unprofessional, rude, and not genuine. You’re better off going down the street to Electric Ladyland Tattoo Shop.

Bre is the best piercer! She is so sweet and educated on any question you may have. The entire shop is sanitized and I love al of the jewelry she uses!! Will never go to anyone else for any piercing

Decided to get a tattoo and was recommended to stop here. Everyone was super friendly. No long wait they got to it real quick. 3 of us got tatoos and they worked super fast. If ever in the area stop by they do an amazing job.

Beautiful work in a timely manner, but pricing is inconsistent, and easily overcharged. Ive been here twice, but after this second round, I will not be coming back. Im not a fan of being ripped off, sorry. If you can afford throwing money away, sure, come here. If not, theres equal quality work elsewhere that wont cost you your entire savings account.

I was so excited to go to the shop as I was on a long road trip with my husband for our anniversary and we were finishing in New Orleans for 2 days so I wanted a tattoo to remember it by. I researched the shop I wanted and the artist - Billy - who I contacted on Instagram because the shop didn’t bother to respond to my online enquiry. Having sent the design we agreed a date and time slot which my husband and I worked our day around, on arrival I said I had an appointment with Billy and was stared at blankly, he then came over and introduced himself and when I said I had messaged him on Instagram he said “yeah a lot of people message me on Instagram” and I said yes but we had agreed a time, you replied? It turned out he had just agreed a walk in and was about to start so I left my number and they said they would call in 30-40 minutes when he finished, they didn’t bother calling me and I saw on his Instagram he did a further 2 walk ins before they closed.After a month of planning they completely ruined it for me, what was the tattoo for me was clearly just another one for them. I would strongly recommend going anywhere else, they were so rude, arrogant and completely unprofessional, not what you would want to mark you for life!

I am from new orleans and live in St louis. I celebrated my 24th birthday home and wanted a tattoo on whim. Within no time at all Downtown Tattoo was able to consult and fit me in, with friendly people and clear professionalism. My tattoo artist was Pabby, a super friendly and AMAZING artist. He was able to integrate 3 pictures into an arm design within the hour and I was done super quickly. I LOVE MY TATTOO and couldnt be happier with my experience as a whole. I recommend booking an appointment or walking in if you want some great work at fair prices. Ask for Pabby!!!!

Very unprofessional and rude. After submitting a inquiry on their website and not being contacted in a full on week, I contacted one of the artist who worked at this shop for a price quote of the tattoo that i wanted to receive. Upon sending him the picture, he firmly told me that he did not want to work on this piece because he was uninterested in doing it. Despite his whole portfolio having similar art design. Upon asking for an explanation he said that i should Leave him be,and move on. This aint it chief, take your money elsewhere.

Went to downtown tattoo based off friends recommendations and Im not disappointed ! Jim was amazing - he took my idea if an outline and brought it to the next level . So happy I went there and so happy with Jims vision of what I wanted!

They were very Nice and Efficient! The gentleman that did my tattoo was very cool, laid back and experienced! He only charged me $100 for mine! I will definitely be back!

Best tattoo shop hands down the owner is awesome he has done most of the work on me and I have to say I have stuff from him from like 9 years and longer and all the ink looks like it just got done still... Treated very well by the homie Jim Courtieur! Cool guy, quick, clean, kind & professional. Jims line work is impeccable, see pic for an hour after. Prepare for NOLA pricing but Id say worth it.
