Mid City Voodoux Tattoos

There were 3 of us who went for tattoos together. Two artists helped us. Both were professional and friendly. I highly recommend Mid City Voodoux Tattoos.

Just got yet another tattoo, I like to get them from the different countries I travel to. I was a walk in client and Jimmy was super helpful with my design and tattoo. He was helpful with my placement and the design was spot on. My whole experience was outstanding and came from reading previous reviews. Would highly recommend this tattoo store if you are in New Orleans. Love my new tat. Apologies for the picture as it had already been covered but trust me its sick.

We were recommended to Voodoux from a friend. We did a walk in on a Sunday night. Scott and Jimmy were great! My fiancé was getting her first tattoo and Scott was patient and super helpful. I got a flash tattoo that Jimmy customized for me and knocked it out of the park. They were both excellent in professionalism and artistry. I only wish we lived in town to see them again.

Can’t say enough how great this shop is ! Going twice in less than 7days .First time .. Jimmy was sooooo beyond patient with our first timer and her mom ! Work was excellent . Again can I say how patient he was !!!! Loretta did my tattoo that day . She was a gem . Lite touch and perfect script . Went back a few days later to go over a family tattoo ( has been discussed and brought to other shops ) and Scott KILLED it !!!! He came up with the perfect rendition of what we wanted ! The entire staff was friendly , professional and the shop was immaculate. So glad both my nieces had their first tattoos at a shop of this quality. Definitely have a feeling I’ll go back whenever I’m in town .

Brenna was a pleasure to get my nose pierced by! She made sure the placement lined up with my end goal and was fast, thourough, and clean!Piercing is healing well and I couldnt be happier!

Such great staff! When I travel I love to get tattooed and this place is my favorite her in NOLA especially on Halloween! The staff is always happy and welcoming. Tattoos on spot! You won’t regret anything you get done here!

I love going in there to get work done! Everyone is so friendly and has a really chill atmosphere. Lirette does exceptional work! She designed my cat tattoo and corrected my other tattoos that I got elsewhere. Anthony did my tragus piercing. He really made me feel at ease and did an awesome job. Definitely recommend them!

The best place to get tattoos in New Orleans! I go here for all of my tattoos. Everyone is super friendly and professional. They take walk-ins and appointments. Came here after looking through several different places but this is the only place I’ll go from now on.

I had a great experience initial but after my tattoo I notice I did not take well to the ink I tried to reach out but they blamed me for the way the tattoo turned out . It sucks I visited && I had a great time but a horrible experience.

I absolutely loved the service here. I got 3 tattoos over 2 days by Ryan. It was the best tattoo experience I’ve had. He took his time with what o wanted and made sure it was perfect. The shop was clean and a pleasant atmosphere and a total vibe. I also got my nose pierced by Brenna and it was was with ease she was so nice. She made mr experience so good! I will be returning for all my tattoos and future piercings. It’s definitely worth the drive.

Brenna was my piercing artist, and she was awesome! Ive never been to a tattoo shop, and my ears were pierced as a baby, so of course I dont remember it. The shop was very clean and well decorated. It also smells nice. Brenna was welcoming and warm like an old friend. Her voice was calming, and her conversation put me at ease. I definitely recommend this shop.

I got my first tattoo here on Friday the 13th and I was so nervous but when I walked in I got Scott. He was very nice and talked to me through the whole process. Best experience ever and I’ll definitely go back for more.

Walk ins available. Payment options where unclear because they had signs for credit cards and an ATM. I heard the girl at the counter say that it was cash only but she didnt say anything to me. We waited for 30 minutes and got tired and decided to leave since there was no progression in the que. The shop was clean.

The shop is very nice and clean. Service was excellent. But they have a 60.00 minimum so I find them VERY expensive. The small tattoo of the arrow on my wrist was 80.00. The large fleur di lis on my calf done at my normal shop was 95.00. I would have given 5 stars if the price was more reasonable.

I went in last week to get my first tattoo. From start to finish it was a great experience. Ryan took my idea and quickly put it together into a design I love, and we completed it that night. Id absolutely come back here for another one.

I came in to get a tattoo and I had an amazing experience. Ryan, my tattoo artist made me feel very comfortable. He was just great in general. My lettering was done beautifully and everything was on point. The shop also has a chill vibe, and beautiful artwork/spooky stuff, which I also loved.

Awesome place with great artists! Our group had Ben, Ryan, and Lerette. In midcity away from the tourist trap shops. Well worth going a few minutes further!

Welcoming environment and friendly artists!We didnt end up getting tattoos here, but the artists were all extremely nice and informative. We also saw some of their designs while there, and if the wait had of been shorter I would have loved to get work done.

Since moving down towards the Big Easy, kinda stumbled upon Mid City by mistake. My old artist has stopped since getting arthritis, so I needed to find a new place. My wifes first tattoo was here, and my 40th-50th ish have been done here too. We found our artist and were sticking to him.

The staff here is so extremely helpful and Ive never had an issue. Very military friendly as well feels very friendly for women. Scott walked me to my car to make sure Id make it home safely, we finished my tattoo way past closing. Ive gotten approx 5 or 6 tattoos with them now in the span of a year. Love them!

I got my first tattoo today from Scott and I absolutely love it! Scott was very down to earth and talked me through my whole tattoo, we had great conversations. He’s also a veteran so thank you so much for your service! They made me feel so welcomed. I’m so glad I chose this place. Thank ya’ll so much. My tattoo came out beautiful.

Came on to get a dinosaur tattoo for my birthday and Samuel did not disappoint! The tattoo came out even better than I expected!

Katie & Kaylyn were amazing! They made me feel so comfortable when I was extremely nervous. The overall atmosphere of the shop was so welcoming unlike many shops in New Orleans. I HIGHLY recommend coming here for any piercing. They are clean, quick, and efficient. Absolutely worth it

I was a walk in, first time customer looking to get a tattoo. I was promptly welcomed and asked to sign in for a piercing or tattoo and to wait in the lobby area to be called upon. I looked through their flashes and found one I was interested in. When I was called up I told him which one I wanted and for it to be modified a little. He went back to draw it up and I only waited for about 20min before he called me back to the counter. He was very nice and definitely had my design drawn for the location on my body in my best interest. The whole process, from walking in to finishing the tattoo took about an hour and I am happy with it. He gave me his card and told me to come back in for a touch-up if needed. I highly recommend this shop and the only thing Im disappointed about is that I waited 8 years to give this shop and the artists a shot! I will most definitely come back in the future.

1 star off for the man with black hair who had a smart response for nothing. I asked if they took Apple Pay to which he responds “most people do”…. I’m sorry but was I asking about “most people”?? A simple yes would have sufficed.However, the lady with the shaved head was very nice and helpful. I won’t be back though because being rude to someone simply asking a valid question is weird.

Walked in and a very nice girl asked what we were there for and just wanted to know how much and how long a tattoo would take, she walked into next room to ask a gentleman and she said he would be right with us. We waited around 15-20 min. A group of 5 came in to get tattoos and piercings and they were helped right away. I was talking with my friend as we walked out and the gentleman that was suppose to help us came out and told us you could’ve gave me 5 seconds, (not when I already waited 15-20min) and that another tattoo place could help us. I have many tattoos and have never been treated like that. We drove 1,100 miles for vacation and thought it would be fun to get a tattoo. We’ll go elsewhere

I can not recommend Haley for your piercing needs enough! She was amazing. Talked me through the entire process and made me feel totally at ease. Jimmy did my tattoo and I absolutely love it. He was fast and wasnt heavy handed at all! I can not wait to see these guys again!

My friends and I were walk-in appointments. We were seen fairly promptly (within about 20 minutes). Our piercer (unfortunately didn’t get his name) really made me and my friends feel super comfortable. He allowed all of us to be in the piercing area at once and was joking and laughing with us, which calmed our nerves. My friends and I are all super happy with our piercings. Things were sterile, service was fast, and staff were kind and helpful!

You will not find a more professional, clean, courteous, and SAFE tattoo parlor in the city. B-Def is a long time friend of mine. Disappointment will not be found here!

Got my piercing done a while back by stabbed_bykay. It was my first piercing and she made me feel so comfortable and told me exactly what to expect. So beyond friendly and I keep this shop in mind, especially her when anyone I know is looking to get pierced. Will definitely be coming here for my next piercing!

Walked into Voodoux and they were very accommodating! I had an idea for my tattoo and Scott brought it to life for me. It was a tattoo honoring a couple of friends who passed recently, and I was so appreciative of the care and expertise they provided. Very clean and bright shop. I would highly recommend!

Friendly staff, quick service.Dealt with me almost passing out!😂 Austin was my artist and was so nice and understanding when I asked him to stop for a minute because I was feeling sick. Another staff member came over and gave me a glucose tab to help me feel better. Never had a tattoo shop offer this!We went in with a group of 8 at about 10:30pm, they closed at midnight. Staff was very welcoming and let us all sign in and get on the list. The 5 of us who were getting tattoos were all done a little after midnight and very happy with the results!The next day I brought another friend back who wanted a small rose and she was seen and done within an hour on a Saturday afternoon.

Came in as a walk-in and was taken care of immediately. Ben was the artist and he did an amazing job. Very clean environment and everyone in the shop were very friendly and nice!

Based on the reviews I was kinda skeptical to go here because they were so mixed. However, Im so glad I did! My artist was Lirette and she is absolutely one of the best! She was super light handed so I barely felt anything while being tattooed. The atmosphere was super chill and laid back, great music! And the price was more than fair! If youre looking for a tattoo I would encourage you to go see her or anyone at Mid City! 10/10 would recommend

After going to 3 other tattoo shops and not really liking the places, workers/artists or prices we called Mid City Voodoux Tattoos and were greeted with enthusiasm and great energy from the start we were told to come right over and were seated almost immediately. Myself and two of my friends wanted matching tattoos while in town and our artist Kaylen did all 3 within a very short period of time. She was awesome and very professional with a friendly demeanor. The guy that was there (think he was the owner, didnt get his name) he was cool as heck and very accommodating. The prices are a little high BUT that comes with the location as ALL shops in the area have a minimum but they were the cheapest, others started at $100 minimum. I highly recommend this place and when I go back I will be paying them another visit.

I had a piercing done by Brenna and it was an amazing experience. The piercing was quick and painless. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get something done.

Today my husband and I went to get matching tattoos of our wedding date. Lorett was our tattoo artist and she was amazing. Her personality was awesome and she made me extremely comfortable. Ben did my tattoo and I couldnt be happier with it. It came out just as I hoped it would! There was minimal to no pain. Would definitely recommend him.

Really upset about this place a girl named liv pierced me and didnt pierced it in one poke she made one poke and waited to go all the way through then put the piercing in and i felt liquid getting into my ear and i wanted to get up and she told me to stay laying down which made it go deeper into my ear and it wasnt just liquid it was my blood! going in my ear and all she kept saying was ill be fine its normal like no its not i swear to god i could not hear from my left ear. it felt like my ear drum got busted because ICOULD NOT HEAR A THING FROM MY LEFT EAR! i had water go in my ear before but this felt worse the piercing wasnt painful it was my eardrum hurting and she kept dismissing my pain saying it cant go to my eardrum and im mad because the next morning theres still blood IN my ear and no not from my piercing because its not even bleeding. its the next night and i got crusty blood dried up in my ear. and i every time i burped myear dr hurts!!!!!!! she should of used her senses and made me sit up and accused me of q tipping my ears pushing it further back when she used like plenty trying to clean it all before i tried to dry it out myselfupdate its been two days and my eardrum is still in pain it hurts when i yawn, breathe, burp, chew, and pop my ears!!!

So I visited New Orleans with a bachelorette party over the weekend and on our final full day the bride asked if we could get tattoos before we leave. She asked me to take care of it and I found this nice little shop! I called earlier in the day and they let us know that walk ins are available around 8 pm but that several artists would be available. We walked in around 8:30 and there was a bit of a line but the staff made the time go by quick! We started getting seen around 11 (not a big deal seeing as how like 10 people were ahead of us when we came in) I loved how skilled all the artists were and I particularly loved the work that SCOTT did!! He completed my tattoo shown in the picture as well as my friends’ and I was shocked at how clean and professional each tattoo came out! I’ve gotten a lot of tattoos but this one is one of my favorites! IF YOU WANT TO GET A TATTOO IN THE CITY DO IT HERE!! You won’t be disappointed

Went to mid city on a trip to New Orleans. I get a tattoo in every state I visit and wanted to get one for NOLA. After checking them out, I asked if they accepted walkins. They were busy at the time but asked me to come in at the end of the night. They not only worked me in but momo gave me my favorite tattoo yet. Amazing line work and black/grey shading. I get compliments all of the time and could not be happier!

Had a great experience! Richard was the best! He took time listen to what we were wanting and made sure we were happy with everything. He also provided some stand up comedy while he worked and made sure we were safely in our Uber afterwards! 1000% recommended!!

I got my navel pierced here in September and it didnt seem like my piercer really was confident in what they were doing. She wasnt confident in where the dots were supposed to go and placed the original dots way higher than they should have been. When she was unable to clamp me on the dots she made, she moved the dot down but it was really crooked. The jewelry she used was also way longer than it should have been so it got caught on everything and was painful and uncomfortable. A few days ago, I went to a different piercer for help changing the jewelry to something that fit properly and unfortunately because the piercing was so crooked and the jewelry was so low quality and so much longer than it should have been, I have to let it close up. As she was taking the jewelry out, a piece of metal broke off and showed that the jewelry had rusted a little around the ball.

Kim did an incredible job on both my daughter and I for our memorial tattoo for my step father who passed away from cancer last year. They are beautiful and absolutely perfect!!! Would recommend anyone go there for any tattoos.

Out of all the places Ive been tattooed this one has been the best experience and quality of work. Richard is fantastic. He does amazingly clean line work and shading is on point. Great to talk to and cant wait to get more of his artwork done on me.

Lirette did my best friend tattoo and she is awesome! She is a straight forward person and no BS and I love it! Fair priced and clean shop, very cool people. You definitely pay for what you get. I will come back for another tattoo by her for sure!!

UPDATE: The manager at the shop promptly reached out to me to discuss what happened. He was apologetic, understanding, and made it clear this in no way was a reflection of the standards of the shop. He also offered to have someone cover the tattoo free of charge. I did ultimately decide to go another route with getting it covered up but he showed a high level of professionalism so I am updating my review to showcase that. As far as I know the artist who butchered my skin is no longer employed there.This place was recommended to me by friends who had work done by other artists the week before. When I came into the shop, the artist I saw (Kaos) looked at my reference photos and gave me the impression that this was work he was comfortable doing, which clearly was not the case. The outline was drawn directly onto my skin… with a sharpie, which he told me was standard practice for him for tattoos like this one. He took a picture of the stencil and I made it clear I was very uneasy about it since it did not reflect the stencil for the fine-line work in my reference photo. But he continued to reassure me that the final product would be much better because the marker bleeds. He also reassured me the needle he would be using was fine enough to give me my desired results. The final product was nowhere near what I was led to believe it would be. The photos truly speak for themselves. The line work is crooked, inconsistent, uneven, and non-symmetrical. From the time I got home and was able to further examine the tattoo, it is clearly blown out and has only since gotten worse over the healing process. He also opted “not to wrap it up” because he was “confident I would take care of it”. This shows a high level of unprofessionalism and lack of care for clients and their skin.If you are going to take walk-in clients, it should be expected that you are either talented enough to do whatever is brought in or be confident enough in your craft to have the competency to turn down work that you know won’t showcase your artistic ability. He claims to have been tattooing for over 20 years… this what I was left with. It’s going to cost me hundreds of dollars to either get this tattoo removed or covered up, if it can even be salvaged at this point. What was once a tattoo idea/placement I was excited about, is now ruined. He unfortunately jeopardized his own reputation as well as the shops and I will not be back nor will I be quiet about my experience because this was completely unacceptable. Giving the place 1-Star simply because the other staff members were helpful to me. I reached out to him as well as the shop and was left with no response from either of them.

This shop has the best atmosphere and the best artists!!! Richard has been tattooing me for a few years now and I’ve received tattoos from others at the shop as well and they’re all amazing people and are always professional and efficient. Love these people! 10/10 recommend!

Honestly, if I could rate this piercer 0 stars- I absolutely would. She pierced my septum wrong TWICE. She tried to free-hand it the first time, then tried to make it right free-handed. The piercing was crooked and through my cartilage. It was embarrassing to walk around with. I still paid full price, and Im pretty upset about it. I had the piercing for several months and it never healed, I ended up taking it out- essentially paying full price for someone to botch my septum. I looked at her Instagram and there are videos of her piercing herself and had I seen that before I chose who to trust to pierce me, Id have gone elsewhere. The shop itself is cute and has a nice vibe but I rarely hear good things about that piercer since sharing my horror story.

I had a really lovely experience at Voodoux Tattoos this weekend when I went in to get a small tattoo! They were so nice, accommodating, quick, and clean. Ive had some pretty negative tattoo experiences in the past (tattooists being very cold and acting like they didnt want to give me the time of day) and this could not have felt more different! My boyfriend and I came to NOLA on vacation and decided to get tattoos while we were here! Did our research online looking for the best place and came across Mid-City Voodoux. We absolutely loved our experience with these guys. They got us both in within a days time and they did amazing work. Richard and Ben D are awesome! We will definitely be coming back here for all of our tattoo work which is saying a lot since we are from North Carolina! I highly recommend this place for all of your tattoo needs!

Could not have asked for a better experience getting my first tattoo. They worked with us in extreme detail making sure it was perfect and exactly what we wanted. I had an awesome experience. The people there were nice and down to earth. Everyone in the shop was great with helping me come up with a tattoo even though all I had was a concept in mind. The artist(Jody) needed a day to draw this particular piece up but they were professional and courteous with contacting me once it was ready. From what I saw they treated everyone who came in with an awesome attitude. They make appointments and accept walk ins. Clean place of business as well

Love this place! I got an ear cartilage piercing a year ago. My boyfriend had his eyebrow pierced as well but had to take it off due to work. I recently brought my friend to get a piercing as well. The place is very clean and the staff is very nice and attentive to your needs. They are very informative with the work youre getting done. I dont have a tattoo but I did witness an artist talking to a client and he was very nice with the client about her desires for her tattoo. If I ever get a tattoo, I know where Im going.

Just got my industrial done here with Becca last Saturday. Fantastic experience; she was so friendly and knowledgable, explained everything to me, and made the legal paperwork efficient and informative. She even made sure my ear could handle the piercing in the first place, which I knew was important. She told me what she was going to do to my ear every step of the way and made me feel comfortable during the piercing process. She also let me hold my friends hand while she had her nose pierced after me, which I thought was great. We had a great, fun conversation throughout and even though it hurt, I felt completely safe the whole time. Overall, Becca is a great piercer, the prices are fair, and the employees really know their stuff. I would definitely come back for more body art!

I had my nose re-pierced here. It was a great experience! I didnt have to wait to long and the piercer was super nice! She made sure I was comfortable the entire time. I dont live in the NOLA area, but if Im the mood for another piercing and am in the area, Im definitely going back!

I’ve gotten many tattoos here over the years. They are amazing!!! The artists are all top notch, professional, courteous and just make you feel welcome. I always recommend this shop!

Amazing piercing experience! I got my cartilage pierced - it was fast, easy, and as painless as a piercing can be. I could tell almost immediately that the healing was going to be an equally painless process, and now two weeks out, I havent experienced an issues with my ear. Ive really seen no puss buildup, pain, redness or inflammation. And just for the record, I slept on it since day 1 with no discomfort!

Got a helix piercing here; they give the lowest quality jewelry & it came out within a few days. Went back to have it fixed and they were unbelievably rude and dismissive. The place is dirty and unprofessional. I highly recommend going elsewhere. I dont know who runs the business, but the staff is abysmal. There are better options in the NOLA area. Dont be fooled by the bot reviews.

I came here in November 2018 to get my first nipple piercing. Long story short, it was misplaced, leaving me with 8 months of discomfort, a funny looking nipple and the possibility of loosing its sensitivity.I have gotten several cartilage piercings before but had never tried this shop. It was near my house and had good reviews so I decided to give it a go. The experience was ok, Birdie (my piercer) was welcoming and friendly. I was so satisfied after the experience that I even recommended the place to a friend who got a septum there a week after. Around 5 months in I started to notice that these red bumps around the nipple were not reducing in size, so I ramped up my aftercare regime. After a total of 8 months of taking optimal care of it, the bumps were still there and the piercing hadnt healed. I decided to get it checked at a different place near home, thinking that maybe I needed a larger barbell or something different. Turns out that the piercing had not been healing because it was pierced in the wrong place!! Aside from the daily pain and discomfort it caused, I will have a funny looking nipple and could have even potentially lost sensitivity in it.Remember the friend that I recommended Voodoux for her Septum Piercing? Turns out her Septum was also done wrong, so much so that they nicked her cartilage causing terrible pain and discomfort for weeks to come. Funny enough, we had the same piercer (Birdie).

My son got a tat and touch up from MO while I got another tat from Ben... Both did a fantastic job. They were very affordable, as well. When we come back to Nola we will certainly go back there. I cant say enough good stuff about everyone there. Wonderful experience and Im picky! Thanks MO and Ben, we love our new tats!!

The best tattoo shop!! I get my work done here by Richard and he is the best!! I get so many compliments on the line work, detail, and coloring on my tattoos! Also very clean and safe spot I highly recommend! 💗

I can’t speak on the tattoos. However, my wife & I were in New Orleans visiting and decided to get piercings. My wife got her septum pierced. The girl was super friendly but the nose piercing was crooked and noticeably so! She kept saying it wasn’t crooked, it was just the swelling but the other piercer disagreed with her. She’s only been piercing for a year and a half. But, if you aren’t comfortable doing something you shouldn’t do it. She was shaking the entire time & had trouble getting the jewelry in.I got my dimples pierced by Becca (?) & she was great! She fully warned me in advance of what I was getting myself into and the piercings came out great. She also fixed the screw up from the girl prior, for my wife. The only complaint I have is that their jewelry is all mixed up (sizes) and they did not have the proper jewelry to go in my cheeks. I ended up having to go to another piercer 3 days later to get longer jewelry. It was hurting really bad. Becca is the ONLY reason this got the stars it did!

I got a tattoo here this past week and it came out great! Lirette did an awesome job giving me a wrist tat of a frog in a teapot from one of my favorite shows! Very helpful and took a break when I needed it; highly recommend Voodoux and Lirette!

We had a strange experience here. My husband and I came in for some tattoos before leaving New Orleans after Buku. After a lot of poking around online, I found Voodoux on Instagram and we liked the designs on their current flash sheet. Lirette was who was at the counter and who was going to do both of our tattoos, although she never introduced herself. I went first, and the tattoo process was pretty much as expected, Lirette didnt make any small talk or sat anything, so my husband and I chatted. When she was nearly done with my tattoo, she pawned my husband off to somebody else instead of doing his tattoo, which was strange because simple flash is quick money, no? My tattoo turned out well and I am happy with it. However, Jimmy Two Thumbs did my husbands tattoo, and it isnt nearly as well done. Lirette passing my husband off to Jimmy didnt seem to benefit anyone either. Lirette stayed at the shop, and Jimmy decided to take a break before beginning my husbands tattoo. He also complained about tattooing the entire time he tattooed my husband. We were happy to add to our tattoo collections on vacation, but this was a very strange experience.Update: four months later and both of our tattoos have faded and aged horribly.

It was my first time getting my nose pierced so I brought my friends (who had theirs pierced) along. I filled out the disclaimer and the worker Kim was the one to do my piercing. One of the biggest issues was her lack of knowledge and concern. Although the disclaimer asked if I had allergies, Kim did not ask me until after my piecing because I would not stop bleeding. My piercing took less than ten minutes to get done but I spent an extra ten minutes because my bleeding would not stop. At one point she called for another person in the shop because she didn’t know how to control the bleeding. The man (guessing the store owner) said that bleeding is normal and that it would stop. The reason why I give this a two star review is because Kim’s attitude towards my piercing was unprofessional. She did not tell me how I should tend to it or the typical timeframe of it to heal. After my nose finished bleeding, Kim barely wanted to wipe up the dried up blood and my friends had to point it out to her. Overall, I would not recommend this place for anyone who’s getting a piercing done for the first time. The atmosphere wasn’t welcoming and I’m upset that I even spent $60 from this place. Overall, I just wish I could’ve had another person perform my piercing because Kim was not helpful and did not make me feel comfortable.

I got my first tattoo here today! They were extremely chill and cool and knowledgeable. Pretty much immediately put any questions or fears I had at ease. They work with you and are honest. The shop was clean (which was an obvious concern) and Im so glad I chose this place to get my first with my best friend! Lirette is amazeballs and Im 100% Id drive the five hours to get another here.

Such a wonderful place and very helpful staff. I got my daith pierced on my left ear, supposed to be an acupressure point to relieve headaches. I went from average 3 headaches a day to probably only 5 headaches total since I got it pierced.I believe Becca pierced my ear. she was super awesome so nice and super cool to talk to! the whole experience as wonderful. highly recommend.

Great little tattoo place. Super clean, great artists, and professional staff. Ive gotten two fairly large custom tattoos here and both came out great. Richard took the time to work with me to take a design idea I had and turn it into a real piece of art.

I had a great time at this New Orleans Tattoo shop. I had a12pm appointment with Lirette. When I arrived she had worked on my design and it was pretty sweet. We spent about 30/40 minutes tweeking it out to exactly what I wanted and loved. She was cool and easy going about my changes and totally heard all that I had to say. Her station was clean and sterile along with fun and entertaining. I enjoyed her and her company. We had a good time and my piece is PERFECT!! I would recommend this tat shop to anyone and I would recommend Lirette. I Will be in her chair again!!!

I had a great experience at Mid City Voodoux Tattoo. Their shop is clean and the staff are amazing! My boyfriend got his ear pierced by Ginger, and he didnt have any problems with the healing process. I had gotten my nipples pierced by another shop due to rejection I was only able to keep one. I was scared and hesitant to get the other side done. I called the shop, and they told me that Becca is the piercer. I was even more of a chicken because she was a different piercer. I asked the guy over the phone how long has she been piercing, and he said about a year which got me feeling more of a chicken.. I grew some balls and came to the shop. Becca was so sweet! During the piercing process, she made me feel comfortable. When she was doing the measurements, she explained to me why, and she was getting ready to pierce my nipple. It wasnt as painful this time around, and it came out even! Shes freaking awesome!! Even though she may have been piercing for a whole year, but it feels like she had more experience than a year. The pain gradually went away and minimal bleeding. I was able to move around freely! Overall, i loved it!!! Thanks Becca!!

Kim is a great piercer!! I went in because another place had messed up a daith and cartilage piercing that I had got done that same night; she fixed both of them and helped me out tremendously! So nice and welcoming and calm, I definitely recommend Kim for piercings!!

Not a bad experience, the tattoo artist was a nice kid, but charged $120 EACH for dime sized tattoos - not intricate - then explained they were “priced down” from $140. I’m not kidding - literal dime/nickel sized. Find better value other places - I recommend Lucky Dagger and Tattoo Temple.

Excellent, clean space with friendly and knowledgeable artists. I had an idea of what I wanted as a tattoo and they seamlessly loaded my picture I had and printed it within minutes. Scott, one of the artists then came over and we talked for a few minutes about location and size and after that, he gave me a few suggestions and tweaks to end up being the perfect tattoo that I’ll be able to remember my trip here in Nola! I had to have my daith piercing taken out for surgery and put back in afterwards. The ladies at the shop were very sweet and did a great job. The shop is spotless and had a wonderful vibe. From what I saw of the art work being done, the tattoos look pretty amazing.

The first time I walked into Voodoo Tattoo was to get my daughter her first tattoo. The shop was clean and well lit. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Richard was her artist. He explained everything he was going to do. He was professional and practiced good sterile technique. When he was finished he gave her detailed instructions on the care of her tattoo.I have gotten two tattoos at Voodoo Tattoo. Both were done by Richard. Everytime I walk in,everyone says Hello. I am very happy for the service and especially for the work done on my artwork. I have recommended them to several of my friends and coworkers. I will definately be going back there for any future tattoos. Even if it is a 4-5 hour ride.

So very sad that I chose Lirette to permanently mark my body. I had gone to New Orleans from Houston Texas to get my first tattoo a little over a year ago. When I got to the shop, Lirette already seemed tired. Granted, it was a late appointment. However, she rushed the tattoo and overcharged for her work. The lines of my tattoo are pretty significantly crooked and where there should be shading, there are just blobs of black. She was saying how she needed to get home to her child, yet on her way out I overheard her telling a coworker how she was going to go out to get drinks. I had such high hopes. I have been looking for another artist to redo my tattoo but it is very hard to find one willing to do that. I have seen worse tattoos, but I also expected this tattoo to be at least similar to what I had asked for. This shop has such great reviews and I am sure this is not a common experience, but this is art that is on me for the rest of my life and I would have appreciated more effort and attention. On the other hand, my mom also got a tattoo from Richard and is quite pleased with it.

Got my first tattoo here. They spent a good amount of time cleaning and preparing prior to me actually getting my tattoo, which only made me feel comfortable being my first time. They were nothing but nice and respectful, along with incredibly talented. My tattoo is everything I was hoping for, and then some. Definitely recommend this for anyone who is getting a tattoo for the first time.

Got an industrial here by Sam after my resident piercer Caleb left town. Sam was very professional, and was very concerned with my comfort during the piercing. Also watched him pierce a variety of location on a group of 6 teenagers who came in before me. Took the necessary time to insure sanitation and comfort for every single piercing. Five weeks later, my long hair is causing some complications, so Sam switched out my long barbell (which was getting caught in my hair and causing irritation) to two small barbells. Not only did he handle my issues with no notice (I walked in when I bumped it and was in severe pain), but he also did not charge me for the new jewelry or his time. very professional, highly recommend.

I got my work done by JuJu. (04/27) I had my foot piece done by him years ago and went back for 3 more. They were 3 pieces dedicated for my mom that passed this Feb. So, it was extra important for them to be on point. They were that and more. The quality of his work is impeccable. He is very professional, courteous and hospitable. He made sure that I was 100% satisfied before he even started and constantly asked if there was anything I needed or if I was comfortable. The other employees were very kind as well. From the assistant/receptionist, to the guys assiting, to the other tattoo artist. My brother got work from another tattoo artist & he loved it as well. Great prices, clean location, and great vibes. Every vacation, I get a new piercing on the last night and Mid City Voodoo is by far my favorite shop. I was in and out in about 15 minutes, Ginger pierced my orbital, there was absolutely no pain, and Im absolutely in love with it. 5 stars are not enough for my experience. Only wished I lived here so I could come back!!

Went in and got a tatto from jimmy, fantastic service, love my tattoo and was lowkey in a rush ,i was in n outta there but while i was there some dude banged on the window out of no where, jimmy my tattoo artist and scott another tattoo artist, handled it perfectly, the crazy guy had all the customers worried, luckily my guys came in clutch.

Super cool place and all the artists are as skilled as they are friendly. Austin really hooked me up with my first tat. I definitely recommend!

I got my septum pierced by Becca, and she was the sweetest piercer I’ve ever met! Everything was super hygienic, the staff is so sweet, they give you good aftercare regimens to follow.

I have gotten all 3 of my tattoos at this place, and I love the staff here. However, my third tattoo was horrible. I came in with a picture, and as we adjusted it, the artist got very frustrated. I didnt even recognize him, and I had a pretty good knowledge of everyone who worked there (Red Bean is my favorite by far). I am almost certain that the guy who did my third tattoo was just a trainee. He completely botched my tattoo, and I am now having to go through the very painful process of laser tattoo removal. The plastic surgeon I am going to for it says that it is one of the most unprofessional tattoos she has ever removed, and not because of how it looks, but because of the WAY the tattoo was done. Very sad that I had this experience there, as I really love everyone else there and the artists are very professional and kind. I am sad to have to write this review, but I think they need to know that this happened in their establishment.

I have been to Mid City Tattoo quite a few times, most of my visits going well and leaving me satisfied. However, the last visit I had did not go smooth at all. My friend and I both got very small white ink finger tattoos from Juju, apparently he runs the place. While getting the tattoo done, mind you, he was very unprofessional and left us waiting and kept interrupting his service with my friend and I, to go help other customers who had walked in after my friend and I did. We were the only ones in there when we first entered. For two tiny finger tattoos it took about an hour and a half with no one else in the shop. 3 weeks later, my friend and I both needed touch ups on our tattoos, Juju had given us his card, with the Mid City number on it. I called at least 5 times and was always given some sort of excuse as to why Juju wasnt in the shop, they took my phone number down numerous different times and Juju never called. I eventually had to go in to track Juju down the day before I was leaving the country to get my touchup. He said I would have to come back that night to get it done. My friend and I go in together, she had left a voicemail saying she would come in with me, however he kept us waiting AGAIN for 20 minutes while he was not only taking his smoke break outside, but was drinking a beer on the job. Very professional, right? He came in and sat down on his phone. My friend asked him if he was ready, in which he proceeded to make a scene in the shop (with only the workers present, because NO ONE was in the shop other than one customer who was being tattooed by another artist) and tell my friend that she needed to call if he was going to do her tattoo, which she did call, and never got a message in return. AND Mid city accepts walk-ins, so why would she need to call anyways? Juju also had the nerve to tell my friend and I that, the first time we visited him, we shorted him $5.. I asked why he wouldnt have told us and said that I would never do that, and he proceeded to again, be rude and say I dont chase my customers out the door if they short me $5.. Ok, so then why mention it, Juju? Also the day my friend and I got our finger tattoos, no one else was in the shop so he very well knew we did not short him $5 because a) my friend and I were discussing how much of a tip we should give him, so I knew for a fact we both paid the correct amount, and b) he didnt say anything about it. Long story short, Juju is very unprofessional, does not manage his time and clientele professionally, and is very rarely EVER in the shop. I would not trust someone If you go here, do not see Juju. But I would recommend another tattoo shop first.

Took my daughter there for tattoo for her 18th birthday present. I never knew this but proper ID is required and you have to be 18 to even get a tattoo with or without your parents consent. The staff was very helpful let her use the internet to get her school IDs and other required documents emailed to them so they can print it out for their files. Theyre very much by the book. Thought the prices were rather High for a silver dollar size moon tattoo with the wording up all night cost $100. Guess I would say money well spent my daughters happy with it.

Richard did an amazing job doing a cover up on a tattoo that had turned out different than I wanted. He was patient and worked with me to do a beautiful fix of the original. His work was detailed, thoughtful, and high quality.

I was nervous about getting my second tattoo, as the first one (from a shop in Port Aransas, TX) was a mistake. My friends and I were walk-ins on Halloween and we were treated really well. From the minute we walked in we could see this was a very clean parlor with true tattoo artists. Scott took my idea of a LA outline with a magnolia flower in the corner and drew EXACTLY what I wanted in about half an hour. He was very patient with me, altered the tattoo to be the size I wanted, provided really great suggestions, and was just all around a gentleman and great artist. My favorite thing about working with Scott was that we talked throughout the process about what we both wanted to see in the final product. Even when I was on the table he said I have a good idea - how do you feel about me doing this? and it turned out really, really beautifully. Already planning to go to him for a coverup for tattoo number 1 in the future. Go see Scott! (sidenote: A friend I went in with had an excellent experience with Richard as well)

My artist was Lirette, and all I can say is I advise anyone thinking about getting inked from this shop to steer clear of getting a tattoo from her. First of all my girlfriend is tattoo artist. First thing she told me to do when she saw my tattoos was to go back and get a refund. Not surprising, my tattoos were rushed and they came out so bad. I am extremely disappointed in what Lirette permanently tattooed onto my fingers and face. The lines came out crooked and the tattoos came out blotted and faded when they fully healed. Of course when I complained to her she tells me it’s the after care that caused the problem. So I went to another shop (Tat Starz) to have them check it out and the artist there told me after care has nothing to do with crooked lining (that’s the artists ability to tattoo straight.) and it’s obvious she didn’t go deep enough into the skin. When I tried to schedule for a touch up I literally had to hunt her down. She wouldn’t respond to any of my calls to the shop and when I sent her photos of the healed tattoos she ignored me completely. I’ve gotten tattoos from this shop before and haven’t had any problems until this. Not to bash her but my overall experience working with Lirette was one I never want to have to deal with again. Now I have to pay another artist to fix this kindergarteners artwork on my face and fingers. (At a different shop of course) Lirette has left a bad taste in my mouth for this shop.

Electric ladylands desire for $$$ over the customer cost them, and thank god we didnt go there! We Went in to Mid city for a small couple tattoos for me and my girlfriend. She was charged shop minimum for a playing card sized silhouette, which came out perfect, and for the price, couldnt get better! I got a colored craw dad for $100, which again was a fantastic price for what we got. Bryan and Richard were both super friendly, very helpful and fun to be around. Entire shop vibe was awesome, and for my girlfriend getting her first tattoo, it couldnt have been a better expirience. SERIOUSLY!! Avoid the tourist traps in frenchmen and bourbon street. Mid city is where its at!!

Made an appointment online to see Lirette after getting recommendations from several sources for a good artist. Could not have been easier. She got what I was looking for immediately and worked with me on scale and color. She makes a point of connecting with clients and it makes the process so simple and pleasant. Their rates are more than competitive and they create beautiful work. The space is clean, attractive and very easy to find. One of my best experiences ever and Ill be going back to Mid City Voodoux and Lirette for more art soon! Update: just had Lirette do a touch up for me and she rescued a 20 year old piece that I thought was hopeless. Looks better than it did new. Now have two more pieces scheduled. I went to get a venom tongue piercing because , which looks awesome! The women with the red hair did it,not sure what her name was and she was nice and very informative. I would suggest you go there for a well done piercing job...

Very rude and acted like they couldnt care less if we got a tattoo or not. When we tried to talk out different ideas they wouldnt contribute or give any suggestions, ideas or opinions. They told us to come back when we knew exactly what we wanted. We left and went to another tattoo shop and had a great experience.

Amazing place. Went in there to get my first tattoo and piercing. Both guys took all precautions when it came to sterilization. Very professional, and a great atmosphere. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get a piercing or tattoo.

This is my first tattoo I wanted hot pink lip liner as a present to myself after recovering from cancer and chemo. I didnt have any ides of what to expect about the length of time or pricing. Immediately called after a few days of healing and complained about the color & craftsmanship bc it was very thin especially around the windows peak. That was $100. So touch up time was another $50, still wrong color, thin and uneven. Mardi Gras season everyone compared tattoos and mine didnt compare to any! The fancy fonts, script, Latin covering an entire arm, firearms, shoulders, chests and videos! My son has the names of all his children over his heart each one was about $40. His other tats didnt cost him $150 for multiple colors & art. Each person brought something different to the table and none spent more than I did. Least to say I was ticked and felt like I had been taken advantage of bc it was my first tattoo and its not really noticable. Im going back for another touch up but he all of a sudden hes booked two months in advance. If this visit goes well and I get the thickness and correct color I will revise this review. But until then it remains.

Just went in yesterday to get my latest piece done. Momo did an excellent job with everything from resizing the piece I had to be sure it would fit, to making sure I knew how to take care of everything with it over the next few days all at a fair price for it. Will definitely go there again for any touch up work or new pieces.

Skip the other places uptown and come to Mid-City Voodoux!I brought in a concept picture one afternoon to Richard and a few hours later returned and had a sitting that lasted about 3 hours (including the mandatory smoke breaks).This was my fourth tattoo and by far, the best quality work that Ive had done - including one from a famed shop in NYC. Richard was incredibly attentive to the small details of the tattoo and did a fantastic job.Not only is the quality and the detail of my piece the best Ive gotten, but the price was definitely the best as well. The tattoo wouldve cost me about 3x as much in NYC, and Richards work wouldve definitely been worth it.Cost aside, more importantly for a permanent piece of art on your body - the shop was clean, the tools were hygienic, good music playing, and six months later my tattoo still looks as great as when I got it done. The location is great - stop by Theos or Juans Flying Burrito before or after your ink for a bite to eat.I definitely recommend this place and when I return to NOLA, this is on my to-do list!

The worst tattoo experience I’ve ever been through. I got tattooed here a couple years back and it was awful. The tattoo is so messed up still and she fixed it twice. It looks a lo better but the line work is terrible.

Came in on a walk in and received fast, high quality service. A little more expensive but you get what you pay for. All artists seemed to be very skilled and professional.
