Absolutely love Black Squirrel Tattoo. Mel has done my last 5 tattoos with the most recent one completed today. She is a great artist. The whole process from schedule request to tattoo completion is smooth. Appreciate Mels input/recommendations during consultation to ensure I get the best design. I go to the Center St location, which is easy to get to. The employees are friendly. The decor is amazing, definitely a comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommend if you are looking for a tattoo artist.

Eric did an incredible job. The whole environment, the staff and the entire process was very easy. Theyre super clean and very welcoming and caring. This is my first tattoo and I couldnt have asked for a better experience!

I scheduled an appointment with Shari after seeing her Instagram page and being amazed by her choice of colors and the quality of her work.Right away, I was impressed with Black Squirrel. The shop is decorated SO well, its a blend of vintage and steampunk, and they had some awesome old-school music playing. I immediately felt a good vibe.Sharis booth was very cozy, very aesthetically pleasing, and she played episodes of The Office, which I really enjoyed and helped pass the time. It was a nice touch that she offered me Derma Shield for quicker healing. Shari absolutely exceeded my expectations! I booked my second appointment immediately after the first.Really had a good holistic experience!

This studio is so great. Everyone is so welcoming and professional. Kenny has done 2 of my tattoos and just recently, he gave me the perfect tattoo of my dog, Xena, that I’ve been wanting for years. It’s better than I even imagined!

First time going to Black Squirrel and for a Walk-In event and it couldnt have been better.Definitely love and recommend this place not only for the people and look inside, but obviously the wonderful quality of work done here. I did a walk in with a friend not too long ago. The establishment was clean and the staff was friendly. It was pricey- a 3inch tattoo was 160+. The quality was fine, but as always research the place.

The initial impression was great , but the tattoo artist I had a scheduled appointment with came across as arrogant and very condescending . I can choose where I spend my money and unfortunately I’m not able to support a local business. I’m not trying to be arrogant , but a thousand dollars walk out of your shop and possibly more in the future . Sad 😩🥺

Highly recommend! Very clean and comfortable. Staff has great customer service, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Mel did a script tattoo for my grandson and me. Absolutely perfect! She was wonderful and took her time on placement, making sure we were comfortable and took steps to ensure everything was sanitized. Im beyond happy with results!!

My 1st experience was great, I did a walk in, the place was clean and the work was good. I was in and out pretty quick.My second experience was even better. Sang was great to work with. He took my concept that has a lot of meaning for me personally, and turned it into a piece that Im very happy with. His insite into the size of the individual parts, the general layout, and overall size and placement really made a big difference. It honestly looks better than what I had pictured in my head. Absolutely love this shop, my tattoo artist is Eric and he goes above and beyond. His talent and artistry with the tattoos is second to none. Every time he permanently places a piece of his art on my body I am blown away. I give him an idea and I let him take the wheel. The staff is friendly and they put the customer first. I had my first experience at Black Squirrel last Friday. The atmosphere is such a vibe. Eric is my tattoo artist. You can tell how passionate he is about his work just by looking at pictures his passion really shows in person though. My cat of 13 years passed away a few months ago - I shared my vision with him in our consultation & his creation was above and beyond what I would have ever expected.

I booked a flash appointment with Shari and the whole experience from start to finish was perfect! The people working the front desk were so kind and accommodating, they answered my stupid questions and were great when I called back to note the desired change in tattoo location. When I got there they were friendly and helpful. Shari was the consummate professional! Her artwork is something I’ll treasure, and she did an incredible job distracting me during the most painful parts. 100% I would recommend this shop to anyone who is looking for new art!

I got into a last minute opening with Shari and couldn’t believe my luck. As a way to honor my Dad, I started a sleeve on my right arm. I walked into Shari’s space, and nearly burst into tears. This weird feeling of my Dad with me I’ll never get over. She asked if I needed breaks, laughed during The Office with me and talked about Bridesmaids. I’ve never felt so at-ease in such a setting. I’ve had other tattoos in the past and nothing, I mean NOTHING compared to Black Squirrel. You all have developed this feeling of acceptance and openness in the studio and I can’t wait to go back for my consult for more of my sleeve.

Well worth the wait! I came in for a consult back in August of 2019, I was looking to get a landscape done on my arm. I met with Mel who helped visualize my idea. The only downfall was she was booked up until March of 2020, from all the reviews I saw she was worth waiting for. I am so happy I waited and stick with Mel, she is an excellent artist and amazing to work with. My entire experience was flawless, the team is professional and kind, they go the extra mile for their clients. I will be back!

Black squirrel is full of amazing artists. I have been having CJ do all my work because I love his style. They are super cool and accommodating. Please remember when you commission an artist that art takes time, good art costs money, and you have to give some creative license. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars.

I stopped by to talk to them about work I wanted done. They were very nice and very helpful to talk to. they explained the process of what I need to do. I will definitely be going back for my work. The pictures I have seen online are amazing. I cant wait.

From the time you walk in, to the time you walk out with your tattoo, or estimate, you are treated like you matter. All the staff, and artist were amazing. Kenny did my tattoo, and was nothing short of professional, and what I consider a highly experienced artist.Parking is the only issue. What a wonderful vibe this facility gave me. All of the staff were welcoming. They greeted and took care of me right away. I am quite satisfied with my beautiful tattoo. At first, I was nervous as I walked in, because this was my first tattoo ever. But, after speaking with Penny, she reassured me that I would be fine and she talked to me during the entire tattooing process. Tattoos are extremely painful but with Penny by my side, she distracted me for the most part. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience. I will be sure to stop in if I ever have another urge to get another tattoo. Amazing facility!

Ive never had a more positive experience than I do when I walk into this shop. The front desk staff is always approachable with a smile on their face and knowledgeable. If they cant answer it, they will direct your question to the artist. They dont just make stuff up to get you out the door. Every artist that has tattooed me or my friends has done an amazing job and Im never disappointed. I will keep coming back.

If I could give 0/5 I would. I had a hardship and wanted to cancel an appointment with over a month in advance cancellation notice. I paid $200 up front and soon realized the tattoo I wanted to get I could not afford due to financial hardship. THIS IS AMPLE TIME FOR CANCELLATION. Will never use black squirrel again and will inform all of my friends and family to avoid them at all cost. This is unethical and is not allowed in any other profession.

I consider myself a collector of tattoos, as I like to have pieces of art by many artists. To date, I have only been tattooed once at Black Squirrel Tattoo but I couldnt be happier with my experience. Mel was great to work on the design with and I am satisfied with the work. I definitely hope to get many more pieces done at Black Squirrel.

CJ has completed several of my tattoos as well as Stacey. Kenny is the newest artist there to start a large thigh piece. All of them are professional and do their absolute best to make the piece a beautiful one worth showing off. I love every single one I have gotten from the quick walk-in to the ones that I waited MONTHS to get!

I have recieved tattoos from multiple artist in this shop and i have nothing negative to say. They are all talented, the shop is always super clean, the owners have integrity which i respect, and they all communicate well with what to expect and suggestions for my tattoo. I planned some of my tattoos from them and one was during a Halloween event. I will keep coming back again and again.

The studio is super clean, really cool artwork around the shop, big bathroom, and the staff are all awesome. I go to Kenny, he has been absolutely great. I highly recommend him!

I was always completely satisfied with the staff, service, and quality of work. My only disappointment was 18 hours into a sleeve I all of the sudden could not ever seem to set an appointment. After speaking to the artist I was told there was no availablity for atleast 4-6 months. I mentioned being okay waiting just let me know when we can set another appointment. After a year, I am now searching for another artist. You can imagine how difficult it is to find another artist that has similar skill level and style. Also how awkward and stressful it must be for the next artist to finish a large piece mostly done by another artist.While this seemed to start after political tensions rose last year. I found out after a post of mine I was blocked on f/b & Insta. I fully respect any personal ideals and accept everyone has a different idea of how to go about things. The artist and shop can and should be able to refuse service to anyone. I just wish I would have actually been refused or told to look for a new artist, instead of waiting over a year.

I got my tattoo from Patrick, I was really nervous as it was my first tattoo and feel bad because i know i was more squirmy than i should have been. Nonetheless, it came out great and i love it!!

Came in on a day off and wanted a customized tattoo done. I had been thinking about getting this specific piece for years, but kept putting it off. Chris asked about my ideas and I gave him a few examples I had printed off. He asked for an hour to draw it up, so I came back an hour later and he started the tattoo. It came out better than I had even imagined it in my mind. I highly recommend the shop and Chris!!

Ive been to this shop several times. I am always treated with respect. The manager Kenzie has a tough job ad does it very well. You are always greeted in a friendly manner when you walk in the door. Ive been tattooed by both Mel Judkins and Matt Dinovo. I could not be happier with my tattoos and have been complimented on them numerous times. If you are looking for a piece of artwork on your body and not just a tattoo, I would recommend Black Squirrel. I would also like to add that each artist has their own private room so it is a very relaxing and professional environment to get tattooed in.

CJ tattooed me a couple months ago and I couldn’t be happier with the results. All the artists are extremely talented and professional. The environment is classy and clean. Only complaint: I miss the chubby, bearded, funny counter guy.

Brought in a design I created, the staff was very helpful in suggesting changes to make sure my tattoo came out how I envisioned. This was my first tattoo and CJ did it perfectly. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Its 50/50 whether youll have a good experience or not with them. I did not. Ive been turned down from here, twice now, for tattoos Ive wanted. And the one I did get here is very poorly done and not in the spot I asked for. AND the tattoo artist added to it last minute without consulting me. I plan on getting it removed.

James martin did such a wonderful job. I got an animal portrait of a childhood pet and I’m so grateful for his work. I’ll be returning to have him do my next piece.He was more than just professional, when I was having a tough time sitting after the 6th hour, he used some lidocaine foam on me. More than once. He didn’t have to do that, but that kindness stuck with me. I’ve been tatted before and just had to suffer but he went the extra mile. He kept me talking so I didn’t have to be stuck in the misery in my own mind.I will always come back to Black Squirrel so long as he is there. Im a customer for life.

Chris did my back piece and was super chill about the whole thing even though he had to straighten me up because I kept leaning forward. For me, it hurt like hell but it was more than worth it in the end. Definitely an awesome shop!
