Floating Lotus Tattoo

From start to finish, my experience working with Victoria at Floating Lotus Tattoo was stellar. I initially found her website when I was searching for local tattoo artists who were open to using numbing creams. Our initial phone call to set up an in-person consultation was informative and thorough. I gave her the background on the occasion for this tattoo, the general motif I was going for, my previous tattoo experience and my design ideas. She gave me instructions to bring printed images so she could see them in better detail versus looking at them on her phone.Meeting with Victoria for the consult in person was lovely. Her enthusiasm for my project was obvious. She gave me some good suggestions for the final design, the placement, and what elements to save for another tattoo in the future. All of her suggestions were spot on. She gave me clear instructions for applying the numbing cream for our first tattoo session as well advising me to get a good nights sleep, eat well in the morning and avoid coffee in the 6 hours prior to my appointment.Our first session started by reviewing the final design and making a few tweaks; she was very open to my suggestions. Then came laying in the black ink and the gray shading. It took about two hours with a short break at the one hour mark. I had followed her advice to bring some high protein snacks and electrolyte drinks to keep my energy up, which helped a lot.Because I have some extensive sun damage on my forearm (lots of freckling and age spots) and likely some recent unprotected sun exposure, I did get a very small amount of ink blowout in a couple tiny spots. She explained what had caused this and was very reassuring that it could be dealt with once I healed.I followed Victorias aftercare instructions to a tee and had a good healing experience in the next three weeks.My second session started with a review of the full color design and I was so impressed with her eye for design and balance. It was even more beautiful than Id envisioned. She incorporated all the flower colors we talked about in a lovely, creative fashion. The tattooing started first with adding a bit more gray shading and then adding a couple more flower petals and leaves in the blowout areas. My skin took those corrections very well. Victoria then started laying in the color elements. Her way of blending the colors was almost magical as I could see the image come to life. Total time for the second session was about two hours.Its been two weeks now and my tattoo is healing quite well and Im so happy with it and with Victoria. I will go back to see her later this summer for some small touchups as she suggested.Other notes: the numbing cream Victoria recommends worked great and she even reapplied a bit more during the process. Closest to my wrist, where there are so many nerve endings, I did have some slight pain, but nothing beyond a mild discomfort. I will probably use it again.Parking can be a bit tricky as it is a busy area of town so I allowed extra travel time on my second visit and had no problem.Victorias studio space is very comfortable, cozy, and nicely appointed. Her work space is very well organized.I have already recommended Victoria to several friends who are very impressed with her work, and I am already thinking about my next tattoo with her. I would not hesitate to recommend her in the future.

Thankful for my first two tattoos I’ve ever gotten that were done here. They both mean so much to me and the whole experience felt right. I appreciated her input on the location for where the artwork was going to be placed and her genuine interest in the story behind what I wanted. I’ll definitely be returning for a third one day!

Victoria is absolutely the best and gives the most care in consultation and design! I would not go anywhere else. Also have mad respect for her protecting her art and not releasing designs early - thats how art gets stolen online so as a small business sooner myself Im hugely respectful of her policies and work. I love my little happy hippo!

So V at Floating Lotus is brilliant. As an artist, in image production, and in her communication. I’ve worked with several tattoo artists in Oregon and V is the absolute best. I’ll definitely be going back to Floating Lotus for my touch ups and any new future art!!!

I’m leaving this review after having my second tattoo appointment with Victoria. I had a really great experience with her. Victoria is very straightforward and does probably one of the most in-depth consultations I’ve ever had with any artist. I really have appreciated her style of communication because she takes into account, everything about your tattoo experience in the conversation she does not give you unrealistic expectations to have and she is very fair with her pricing. She put a lot of thought, into the tattoo design for me, and when I had to give her feedback on, it was very receptive and open , she is not the kind of tattoo artist that will just be there to try to take your money and not care about what they are putting on your body. If you’re looking to invest your time and money, she is definitely worth it. I have gone to a few tattoo here in Portland and she is in my top three all-time favorites.

Victoria has done the last two of my eight tattoos. Because of how satisfied I was, I also had her embellish two of my others. I only wish I had worked with her before I started getting ink. She is one of the only two artists I will let ink me.

Victoria is an absolute gem in the tattoo community. She is thorough, thoughtful, and makes sure to deliver what you are requesting, offering helpful suggestions along the way as needed.

Victoria is professional, kind, and very knowledgeable. The tattoo experience was amazing. She has done six of my tattoos and if I ever need another, she will be the first call I make. Cannot say enough nice things about her. The studio is private and she makes you feel very secure, with a calm and thoughtful environment.

Victoria is working on a larger piece for me and I have been in for several sessions now. Before we started, she took the time to fully understand my vision and motivation for the work and then designed a beautiful piece for me. In addition to being a fabulous artist, she is kind and extremely attentive to how her clients are doing while shes working. She also offers great advice for prepping for and caring for tattoos. I highly recommend Victoria for anyone looking for some ink. I asked Victoria to help me with a memorial piece for my mom. A friend of mine had pulled together the basic concept I was looking for, and Victoria did an amazing job of designing a piece I love! I have received so many compliments on it and we arent even quite done with color/shading.Victoria was kind, patient and listened as I explained what I wanted. She was very open to my concept and I felt like she really wanted to create a perfect piece for me. Her shop is impeccably clean. She knows just when to take a break in the process and she was not heavy handed.If you are looking for your artist, Victoria is the one!

Victoria was kind, polite, and professional throughout my 2 tattoo sessions with her. Not only was her attitude great, but her artwork phenomenal. This was the biggest piece Ive ever gotten and I couldnt be happier with the results! Very quick and not heavy-handed. It was also the easiest healing Ive experienced with barely any flaking/itching. Very comfortable environment for someone that maybe intimidated to go to a “tattoo parlor”. In the initial consultation Victoria was great at uncovering what I wanted and set clear expectations on how a cover up tattoo would work best. Very organized with her schedule so that I knew how to prepare for multiple sessions.

I cant say enough good things about Victoria. Incredible art, chill vibe and just an all around pleasure to deal with. I got my first tattoo here, 3/4 sleeve. I brought in some pictures of a few ideas. She took those ideas, ran with it , and come up with a design that was way beyond my expectations.

Im getting a cover up tattoo. The way Victoria approaches a cover tattoo is precise and amazing. It involves patience and time but its well worth it. I have one more session maybe a polishing session. Also, it helps when you follow her instructions about before and after care...

We were looking for another shop in the same building as Floating Lotus, we walked in to ask the lady if she knew where the business was. She immediately shook her head no and said I have to call before I could even ask the question. Her attitude was very off putting. And she looked at us like we were crazy. She couldve talked to us a lot nicer.

Victoria is a nice lady and seems to know what she is talking about when it come to doing tattoos. Will soon know how goos she is at doing them.
