My friend and I got matching Taylor Swift tattoos by Virginia. Her ability to draw extremely fine lines is seriously impressive. I am extremely happy with the end result as well as the cleanliness of the studio, the price, and overall experience. Highly recommend Scapegoat for your next tattoo and get in with Virginia if you can! *I am sure all the other artists are great too!*This studio is also 100% vegan which is awesome!

I was tattooed by a guest artist, Ike Greca. Absolutely love his work. The shop itself was beautifully decorated and very clean. The fellow artists and reception were kind. The shop is hidden behind a huge shrub but is easy to find, parking is ample in the evening.

Been going to Sarah for years, and Jess recently did tats for me and my fiancé after we went to one of her flash days for kitty cat tats. This place is the best and the whole staff is great.

I saw Virginia aka @niemo_tattoo and I cannot express how happy I am I found her. She has such a sweet and calming personality. She does INCREDIBLE fine line too. I got a thin delicate small rose on my arm, as well as a butterfly and they turned out perfect!! I honestly wish I had found her sooner!! I recommend her to ALL of my friends now. Can’t wait to see her again for the rest of my tatts! 12/10 recommend. She’s the best!!

I got the opportunity to see Virginia. She was the sweetest and most talented artist I’ve met. The entire experience was amazing and I highly recommend getting a tattoo by her. I will for sure be making the drive to have her do more on me. Her line work is absolutely amazing.

Momo absolutely blew my expectations out of the water! This was my first tattoo, and she was so kind, calm, and has a gentle hand. She explained things as she went, which helped ease my nerves. I could not have asked for a better first tattoo experience. She is incredibly talented, and put together such a beautiful design just from a couple inspiration photos I showed her. Will definitely be going back to her for future tattoos!

Monica is a wizard and I just adore her!! Scapegoat is so lucky to have her. She is so talented and has such great customer service. Her tattoos are breathtaking!! With this last tattoo she did a coverup and you’d never know it. Also she always finds a way to wiggle me into her full books. People like Monica deserve big trophies 🏆 🥇

Went to Ryan and got the coolest tat ever! He was super sweet, chill, professional, and made sure my needs were met without fail. His artwork is to die for & I had the best time. The amazing staff team also made it a great experience.

Solid blend of modern and old school vibes in a beautiful art nouveau building (the bathroom is especially gorgeous). I love my tattoo by Jessica! Very chill artist and the lines are very crisp!

Very welcoming place!!!! Greeted from the moment I entered, very nice receptionist! I was a walk-in they accepted me (didn’t see that they were appt only) I told them want I wanted and Brian design my little tat! Very great vibe! I always expect tattoo artist to be very serious and so but even looking around all the artist were very focused but smiling and talking with their guest. Everyone there is amazing! Their artwork is beautiful.It’s a very clean shop with great atmosphere! Overall happy, definitely recommend!

I flew from out of state for my appointment with Annelise. She is absolutely fantastic! I can’t say enough nice things about this girl. When I arrived she had my tattoo drawn out and was willing to make changes if needed. No need, it was perfect! She went over everything with me very throughly, which was nice because it was my first. She made sure I was comfortable and we powered through 5 hours of straight tattooing. It was important to her that I was completely satisfied with my tattoo before leaving. I absolutely love my tattoo! It is gorgeous and I get compliments on it all the time! I can’t wait to come back and get another.

This was the most positive tattoo experience Ive had ever- from the moment we walked in the door to ask about artists until the very end. Highly recommend.

Came here a few weeks ago for two small tattoos with my best friend and this place is awesome! I can’t remember our artists name but he was so kind and helpful. We went in not knowing exactly what we wanted and he was so very patient with us and pretty much spent the whole day with us! Very clean space and beautifully decorated. Highly recommend!

I flew down to Portland from Vancouver, BC just to get tattooed by Silije. It was so well worth the trip! The shop is great, staff are friendly and it has a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. They are professional, clean and courteous and made my trip and tattoo enjoyable. I would recommend going there if youre in the area or if not, believe it is worth the trip.

Writing a review of a tattoo studio is a bit of a weird undertaking for a few reasons, but mainly because there is no way that someone can be that objective about it. Permanent art is being put on your body and you are paying for it, so good luck not having some strong feelings towards it one way or another (not to mention that one will most likely form some type of bond with their artist, so like good luck giving your friend a review with any sense of objectivity). That being said I love the tattoo that Cody did on me. The studio is clean, the artists and counter staff are friendly, and everyone does amazing work, all you can really ask for of a good studio. Get tattooed here if you want quality work.

I drove up from California to get my tattoo at Scapegoat. I got an amazing tattoo from Nora, who moved away, but the whole shop is very clean and friendly. The work from the artists are all top quality and I would definitely go back for more. I also have a tattoo from Gin Hicks from back when she worked at another shop, but now she works at Scapegoat and I hope to make another appointment with her.

My wife & I came to Portland for our honeymoon and, as vegans and tattoo enthusiasts, we felt our trip wouldnt be complete without getting tattooed at Scapegoat given their reputation of using all animal-free products. John [Wilson] did a fantastic job with our designs and we were very pleased with the finished product. He was also very easy to talk to which always makes the process more comfortable. Whenever we get back to Portland, theres a high likelihood well be back to get some more work done in the future. Thanks to John and Scapegoat for making our honeymoon even more memorable.

They took me as a walk in looking for her first tattoo. The place is beautiful, clean and the artists are talented. Whether you are a newbie like me or a veteran with lots of ink you will find a wonderful experience with beautiful results here. I’m absolutely coming back for another piece.

In Portland for a work trip and wanted to get a tattoo while here. Short on time since I am here for work. When I called and emailed other shops they were all very short with me as if I was bothering them. Called Scapegoat Friday evening and the girl answering the phone actually had time to talk to me and answer questions. When they post walk-ins welcome they actually mean it because they have people scheduled just for walk-ins which was great!. Stopped in Saturday AM as a walk-in and someone was ready right then to get me in. John did a really nice job!

Relaxed but professional vibe in the shop. I have worked with Nora several times now and am always so pleased with her design, her skill level and quality of work, and the excellent conversation. I always heal quickly and painlessly as well, which I attribute to her high quality technique.

Victor did an amazing job on my butterfly tattoo on my wrist. He does amazing work. Thank you for the amazing piece of art! I will be coming back for more.

Excellent experience, exceptional tattoo. You may have to wait as long or short as it takes for them to get you in since they are booked in advance for their superior work. If you are patient good things will come. BTW thanks to everybody there!

Sarah Carr is an absolute dream to work with! It’s so refreshing to be tattooed by a down-to-earth, funny, and talented gal! She was so responsive to my requests, and I can tell this is her passion. For real, Sarah is the real deal. She’s such a gifted artist and we’re so blessed to have her in Portland!

Ive gotten work here twice now with Nora (who is moving out of state) but her work and all the other work I see being done is this shop is amazing! The staff are super friendly and professional. The shop is very clean and well taken care of. The prices are very far for the quality of work they do. I will definitely be back and highly recommend this place!

Me and my friend got matching lavender tattoos by nora. It was our first tattoo and an absolutrly AWESOME experience. Everyone in the shop was SO supportive and patient with us. And the tattoo is beautiful!

Ive been tattooed more times than the typical person who still counts how many they have. Hate to do this, but I have to say this was hands down the most inorganic tattoo experience Ive ever had. If it wasnt the hefty deposit fee(more than a typical $40) then its for the email only communication with the artist. Apparently they are too busy to have an in person consultation. Not bad tattooing, but nothing to write home about. Thankfully on my part it was a simple piece. As life goes, I took a chance, and Im not upset or regretful of the outcome Id just like to inform anyone seriously looking for a tattoo to think twice about going here. There are plenty of other really great places to get tattooed in this town without the silly hoops this place asks you to jump through. That is my 2 cents, take it for what you will.

Their receptionist, or who I thought was their receptionist was not very customer service oriented. Id been set on going to this shop for awhile now. Had looked online. Their website looks fantastic (with all the information and artwork the tattoo artists have done etc.) I also called and talked to a man, whom I was informed (by the receptionist) Was the owner. Super nice person, very informative.Now, Im a very different case with tattoos that most. Im allergic (not severely but, enough so that after about a week or so of wearing metal that my body feels it needs to reject, I get rashes and scabs.) I explained my concerns over the phone and was told to email an artist about work and/or schedule an appointment to get a test spot done to make sure my body doesnt reject the ink. Emailing seems very impersonal and pretty lax to me since thats how you apply for jobs these days. I find it ridiculous. Maybe thats just me.The receptionist was very cold and apathetic. She made me (and my boyfriend whom I asked to come with me) feel very stupid. Letting us know that the festering wounds that can come with tattoos are usually very rare cases and usually with red ink. (which is not exactly what I was worried about) Im aware of this, Ive done some research. I am not willing to get red ink. I just wanted black ink. She texted the owner, and then I have no idea what he said but she wanted to make sure thats who I talked to. She did inform us that she remembered the conversation. Then scheduled me an appointment with him (the owner) she wouldnt say why specifically with him for next week. I live in vancouver,WA maybe I should have just taken my butt to a non-vegan tattoo shop here and avoided all the hustle and bustle. Whats the difference if they understand your concerns and have let them know youre vegan and would like to use just vegan products?Needless to say she made very little eye contact and just kind of threw a card at me without writing my appointment date and time down. I had to make sure I remembered what she said and she went back to staring at her computer screen. (there was one tattoo artist there working on a client.)I work in customer service, (Im an extremely reasonable, likable person) 98% of the time customers should walk out of your store feeling confident they made the right decision. How could I walk out feeling like a complete fool when I really did nothing wrong there was no tension I was just a bit nervous. I walked out feeling like the shop was full of stuck up people who want to overcharge me for something so stupid.Im cancelling my appointment and never looking back or recommending this place. $80 minimum is a bit absurd since you all use the same ink and this place is more of a novelty that anything else. Once they open because Ive found a very caring, certified, professional tattoo artist that is available and doesnt feel the need to have such strict regulations on their services.Again I really thought that since this place was based on Veganism that the staff would be more warm and friendly. Im saying nothing negative about the artists though, I didnt get the chance to talk to one in person.

Literally wanted to charge me 100$ for 4 lines the size of a quarter behind the ear, 4 lines!!!!!! A price like this will surely turn people away from making more conscious choices that don’t involve the exploitation and by products of animals. It’s so sad that a “vegan shop” would charge such a ridiculous amount and push a customer away rather than try and work with the customer and negotiate an appropriate price for the specific piece, especially when it is so small. Not the best customer service at all, and definitely not in the best interest of the animals.

I was really nervous about getting tattooed for the first time in 10 years but Cory made me feel very comfortable, had a very light handd and humored my other ideas for tattoos i had after being so comfortable with the original experience.

This place is super rad. I get tattooed by Olivia and have been for years. The atmosphere is super friendly and down-to-earth, and they have a huge staff talented tattooers.

My favorite shop in Pdx. Been here so many times. To see Shawn Hebrank and Nora Townsend and more than a couple of traveling through artists. Has the best chill vibe and people.

My tattoo by John Wilson is amazing. It was my first experience and I was impressed with the professionalism, friendly atmosphere, and intelligent conversation. The designs and execution are superb.
