Just got a small piece done on a walk-in Wednesday with Sham, and it was a surprisingly fantastic experience for how much pain I was in. Sham worked with me to get the design and layout just right and completely nailed the execution. Obviously tattoos hurt, and this one was no different, but the environment at Tattoo 34—from the aesthetics to the artists to the music to the other clients—made the whole process much easier to bear. I felt very welcome to experience my pain wholeheartedly and without judgment. And Shams personality was a beacon from start to finish. Highly recommend this team and this shop to anyone in the Portland area looking to get a tattoo!

Very clean and comfortable place to get tattooed. Hanam did both mine and my husbands ink, and we were both so pleased. He worked quite fast and he was very sanitary and considerate. I could tell he was listening carefully to what we wanted, even though we just popped in on a whim during their Sunday walk-in event. I got one of his flash pieces and my partner got a simple custom; Hanam went away for a little while to draw up the design, and when he came back, I could tell my partner was so excited about how it looked. They had various snacks for customers as well as a wated dispenser. I will definitely be coming back to this parlor again.

Toby was fantastic throughout the entire process, highly recommend him if the timing works out! The entire studio is clean and professional, everyone else getting tattooed that day seemed to be enjoying their experience too, and the artists working seemed cool. Highly recommend!

I had a delightful experience getting tattooed by Jenny at Tattoo 34. Her line work is truly remarkable, and I absolutely love the custom piece she created for me! The shop itself is exceptionally clean, aesthetically pleasing, and exudes professionalism. Although I initially opted for a silent appointment, I ended up engaging in a delightful conversation with Jenny throughout the session. She is an exceptional artist and a wonderful person to interact with. To my delight, I also had the pleasure of speaking with one of the owners at the end of my appointment, and she was incredibly kind and welcoming. Im excited to return next month to complete the shading. Without reservation, I highly recommend Tattoo 34 for anyone seeking an exceptional tattoo experience!

I cannot believe how amazing my tattoo came out thanks to Micaeah. Its truly beyond what I couldve imagined!I was so impressed with all of Tattoo34 as well. The vibe was relaxed and professional (they played amazing music) and I never felt rushed as I was making decisions about placement. I felt so listened to. After looking in depth for a tattoo artist I wanted to work on me and I found Toby Linwood of Tattoo 34. It took a while to get in to see him (because hes brilliant) but I sensed it would be worth the wait. My experience was incredible. Toby listened to what I wanted and then I completely trusted him to work his magic. We went through some photos so he could get the feel of my design and then it was all him. And so impressive as he draws straight on the skin and then free styled a lot of it. I felt like I got to witness his creative process in action. The atmosphere was super relaxed. He followed my lead with regard to breaks and pauses, but honestly it wasnt nearly as painful as I imagined. We went over time, but he was focused and all in to finish it in one session if thats what I wanted. I met Nisha his lovely wife and his son, and other tattoo artists. The whole studio felt like it was a family affair. So chilled and inviting. We had some great conversations and I learned about Tobys indigenous roots and some of his traditions and love of tribal art. My experience couldnt have been better. AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my tattoo and love having the Oregon coast on my body. Im already thinking about my next one! I cant recommend Toby and Tattoo 34 highly enough.

About two weeks ago, I got my first ever tattoo. I’m 71 years old and had a bit of trepidation about getting tattooed, but when I arrived at Tattoo 34s bright, airy, clean and comfortable studio and met my tattoo artist, all of my concerns were quickly put to rest.My particular artist was Sierra Scoby. Her calm, friendly and professional demeanor was very comforting and reassuring. It was clear from the start that her goal was to give me the great tattoo I was hoping for… and she ended up doing that, giving me an extremely excellent and wonderful tattoo!!ABSOLUTELY FIVE STARS for both Sierra and Tattoo 34!!!

I love this shop. The environment is comfortable, clean, and laid back. The artists are extremely talented and are also just cool people. And I really appreciate that their values drive everything they do.My first tattoo here was a cover-up by Toby Linwood when the shop was still relatively new. He was able to pinpoint my style and then created a beautiful piece of work that strangers on the street are still constantly complimenting. A couple years later I was ready to come back in for a new design and wanted to work with Toby again. It did take a little while to get on his schedule (hes very in demand), but it was worth the wait to work with someone whos talented, who gets my style, and who cares deeply about their work.Nisha, who runs the business-y part of the shop, is warm and super communicative. From the time I first reached out until my tattoos were touched up and healed, I always knew exactly what to expect and what I needed to do. Just such an easy and enjoyable experience.

Great experience with Hanam! He did a fantastic job on a large thigh piece for me. He was super nice, considerate and frequently asking if I was comfortable. His art and tattoo style are incredible! Id definitely recommend him to anyone that wants a beautiful, detailed tattoo. Photo is of the healed tattoo. I also loved the shop, cool old renovated house, very cozy!

Me, my brother, and my dad wanted a tattoo while vacationing in Portland. Tattoo 34 treated us so well with a last minute appointment on walk in day. The culture and atmosphere were amazing. I appreciate the after care emails and texts from Ciel. Will definitely come again when we come to visit!

Awful place to get a tattoo. I paid to have a tattoo done. Started out fine, but when I went in for my next session they informed me that the artist no longer works there. So am I just left with an unfinished tattoo? Ceil was very rude regarding my situation. He showed no sympathy or care about the incident. He told me that he would finish it but would treat it as a new tattoo, charging me all over again. I guess expecting me to pay twice for the same tattoo. He then stated that another option would be is to relay the original artists information to me so that I could get it finished by her. He never did so, instead canceling my appointment without warning and then dodging my calls. Ive both called and texted many times and have received no response.. To share a bit of my experience and to show the differences in character between myself and the company, I was never charged initially and my first session was done prior to any payment. Upon finishing she made her way to the computer to charge me only to find out that the systems were down and could not accept payments. I could have very well walked out without paying a dime and never went back, but I am a man of my word and not a thief. Im not that type of person. I went back the next day to pay. The tattoo is pretty much complete and only needs some color touch ups due to leakage from using second skin.. I was promised 2 free touch ups by the artist in a contract.. However, as I stated before she no longer works there. So instead of charging me a reasonable price to add some color that came out, (1 color, very simple. Just center no line definitions) Yes, Ceil wanted to charge me for a whole new tattoo and was rude about it. The company has been dodging me since. Way to treat people who show you loyalty! 😡

Was out in the neighborhood with friends and saw the Walk-In Event sign. I am so happy that we decided to give this shop a try. Not only was everyone personable and knowledgeable, but the pricing was great. Aftercare instructions and follow up has been wonderful.I have been wanting to get more tattoos so I feel like finding Tattoo34 was quite serendipitous. Excited to get more work done here.

Me and my cousin called same day to see if they had time for a walk in for the both of us. Ciel La Rue was able to squeeze us in super last minute. The both of us had such and amazing experience! The shop is stunning, they even offered us snacks and made us feel incredibly comfortable! The space is very welcoming and aesthetically pleasing! Ciel did an incredible job with both of our tattoos! I was honestly so impressed with his line work! I will 100% be going back for any future tattoo appointments! And I will recommend Tattoo 34 to all my friends and family!

Had a walk in appointment with Sham who was awesome!! We went over what I wanted, discussed placement then got to work. The tattoo came out just as I wanted. Painless process with great service. Will definitely fly back here from Cali again for my next piece!!!

This place is DOPE!!! The atmosphere was welcoming and providing (they got water and snacks). My consultation was conversational, direct, and on point. My initial session was AMAZING and completed most of the open space on my Sleeve. The follow-up session (free) was just as impressive, completing the previous project and lasting longer than I expected (the artist even suggested/was willing to do additional touch-ups on work she hadnt done!)My artist was Micaeah Ramos and she was 🔥🔥🔥 The other artists I interacted with, too, were competitive in quality, each in their own specialties. The atmosphere was so relaxed and open that it opened it up for myself and the other customers to talk freely about our lives and tattoos (some quality therapy 😅).A little surprise when trying to find the place, as its not yet boldly branded like most shops, but it seems to be the right of passage. ♥️

My best friend and I went to get tattooed together, we went during one of the walk-in Sundays - both of us are extremely satisfied with our tattoos and both our artists were so personable and sweet. If you live in Seattle, the drive to Portland is worth it since their walk-in prices are so reasonable when compared to Seattle studios.

Tattoo 34 is the shop I have now been going to for years ! The environment is like no other shop . Our family artist is Toby , he does amazing work and has been very patient in working with our families tattoos and designs. Toby collaborates well with his clients. We have had the opportunity to have tattoos done by other artists as well . Tattoo 34 is the shop to go to! When your tattoo is hand drawn it’s an experience and always unique and one of a kind! Very much our family choice and our go to shop ! Definitely a family vibe !

Absolutely phenomenal experience. I got an upper thigh piece done by Jenny Koll - one of the best shop & artist experiences I’ve ever had. Professional, but comfortable. The shop itself is adorable and has a good amount of space between people. Natural lighting and plants everywhere. Jenny was so accommodating, and matched my energy where I was at. My piece turned out exactly how I wanted, and I most definitely hope to return here for more work :)

Went on a walk in day and the experience was top notch. The wait was not bad that day. The shop atmosphere is great. Ciel was my artist and he’s so talented. Out of all my other tats, this was by far one of my favorites. I will definitely be going back for more.

Got my first tattoo here! I heard great things about the shop from my older sibling and got a tattoo from Amelia Kaplan, she worked fast, always checked in with me, and was great about giving her contact information so I could text her if I ever had questions or concerns. We finished in two sessions and the tattoo itself only cost about $600. A great first tattoo on my journey to fully cover myself in art 👍

One of the best tattoo experiences Ive ever had! The shop was bright and clean, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the level of skill Jenny Koll has is unparalleled. Truly top notch! She was able to work with my vision to create a deeply meaningful tattoo that far exceeded my expectations! Id been waiting to get tattooed by Toby for 2 years when I found him during a search for BIPOC tattooers/shops. So worth the wait! 10.5 hrs under Tobys needle was a breeze. It barely hurt, and the results are STUNNING. Im so happy.

This gem of a shop is hidden in plain view on Hawthorne. I never knew it was even there. Its spacious and clean and everyone is very friendly. They have a great system for scheduling, checking-in, and even follow-up after your appointment which is a great touch. The most important thing is one of the most talented artists in the biz, Hanam inks there. His work is next level! Oh and their minority-owned too!

Toby Linwood, and the artist at Tattoo are all so amazing, and well conducted. The shop is very clean, the atmosphere is great, with all the artist showing genuine interest with whatever you are getting tattooed. Beautiful waiting room full of incredible plants, super clean, and obviously incredible artists!! Amelia was awesome, drew up a super dope piece I immediately loved after having sent a terrible description of my idea lol placement and size was perfect. She was so sweet, it had been a very long time since my last tattoo and it felt like she started off super gentle, much appreciated. Im absolutely in love with my witchy hands! Cant wait to get the second skin off and watch it heal!! Im such an awkward introvert, and this experience made me want to actually finish my arm. Ty so much Amelia!

I was fortunate enough to get a custom tattoo from Jenny and can’t say enough good things about the whole process! The space is beautiful and accommodating and everyone was really nice. I was honestly nervous getting my first big girl tattoo in the sense that I was ready to get some real art tattooed on my skin vs just the small line work I had prior to today. Hanam was very pleasant for conversation and detail oriented. I am so happy with how my tattoos turned out. I am glad I trusted him. My trust proved well placed. I definitely look forward to getting more art from Hanam and tattoo 34.

I was a walk-in, surfing on am impulse for a praying mantis. I got matched with Sarah, who pulled an image off google and proceeded to give me stellar linework and good conversation, too. Tattoo 34 has good energy with good people doing good work. I highly recommend Sarah!

Dyllan Stanczyk did a totally rad job on my forearm tattoo. This was my first tattoo and he was very informative and comforting making this a great experience. I gave a very general idea knowing and trusting that I had an excellent artist providing a much appreciated service and his design and execution were amazing. I went in on a Sunday right when they opened, and I was greeted and helped by Sarah. She did a fantastic job on creating my vision and executing it so quickly and easily. Having done a lot of research and viewed a plethora of portfolios, I chose Tattoo 34 and Silas Yufa.Starting with great communication prior to the appointment, to the warm welcome when I arrived, they exceeded all of my expectations.The cleanliness of the shop was impeccable. I was impressed with how careful and intentional they were to keep everything sterile and clean before, during and after the session.Silas was amazing. I got my first tattoo at Tattoo 34 yesterday by Micaeah and they were freaking amazing! They did a tattoo in honor of my late and great bunny, Humphrey. They took suggestions and helped me visualize the perfect size, placement, and composition for this piece. I love love LOVE IT♡I found Tattoo 34 for my first because I wanted a shop that was BIPOC owned and operated and that supported artists of color. I wanted to make sure I went to a spot where folks looked like me and could tattoo dark skin without making a fuss about it.The shop itself: Beautiful, clean, and very calming with all the plants. The process of booking, scheduling, and signing waivers was super easy and digital. The website is easy to navigate and answered all my questions. I will definitely be back (just have to save my pennies for my next piece)!

I stopped in during walk-in Wednesday and got a flash rose from Luna. I was not disappointed. I am so delighted I got my Portland rose while I was back in Portland visiting, and Luna was fantastic. Photo is from the day I got it, but its healed beautifully as well.

I discovered Tattoo 34 on a Wednesday morning and that afternoon I came in for Walk-In Wednesdays with an idea of what I wanted and a few inspiration pictures. Ciel helped me hone in on an exact image/style I was looking for, then designed a custom tattoo for me on the spot in about 20 minutes. It is absolutely perfect, better than I could have ever imagined. The tattooing experience itself was basically just an hour long meditation. Super good vibes from him and the space in general. Ill be back for sure.

Such a fantastic shop culture at tattoo 34. as a client i feel not only safe and respected, but also like i can relax and have tons of fun while im there. the artists will tell stories as they tattoo, i leave with new art (by the lovely Jenny, @campsongs on instagram) and the space itself is absolutely beautiful. my tattoos are so special to me and i couldnt imagine being any luckier.

I had a large rose piece that took over 8 hours start to finish with Toby. He was very thorough and patient. He free handed my piece. I let him know what I wanted and he made it come to life. He was very accurate and paid attention to details. I plan on going back for other work Id like to get done. Definitely one of the best tattoos Ive got done with awesome line work. I 👏 his work and recommend 💯. The shop is very clean I loved the vibe.

Every step of the process (from the consultation to the finished product) was a pleasant experience. He was professional, precise, and easy to talk to. The tattoo has healed wonderfully. Got my very first tat here with Ciel!! Had such of a great experience- I was super nervous but Ciel was so chill and made me feel comfortable immediately. He is very creative and made multiple original designs for me to choose from off of the idea that I had brought in. He was also very patient with me through the whole process even though I was being quiet indecisive on placement/sizing/etc. Tattoo turned out better than I could have imagined and I was sent off with lots of useful information for the healing process and they shop even followed up on my progress multiple times. Also the atmosphere in the shop is great too and I loved the music - and they even have snacks in the waiting room! Will be back and 10/10 would recommend!

I had the pleasure of having my first tattoo being done by Silas at Tattoo 34. I came in on a Sunday for a walk-in and Silas wasn’t even planning on tattooing that day but took time away from working on their portfolio to help the shop get thru the line of people waiting for walk-ins.The shop was very clean, inviting and relaxed (great tunes too). Decent amount of seating for the number of people waiting for walk-ins, with lots of art for viewing, as well as water and snacks for post-tattoo recovery. Bathroom was very clean too.Silas made my session fun and comfortable and was very easy to work with. I’m super happy with the results and would highly recommend working with them to anyone living in, or visiting Portland. I’ll update my review with some healed photos soon! I look forward to working with Silas again next time I’m visiting!

A tattoo shop of amazing artists in an absolutely stunning space! I was able to pop in for their Walk-In Wednesday and sat for two hours with Ciel. While I’m normally very chatty I had a very long day and my request for a silent appointment was respected without comment! Honestly can’t wait to go back for more!

I just had my second tattoo session with Toby. He did an amazing job turning my 29 year old BAD chest tattoo into a work of art I can proudly show off. He was inspired and dedicated, putting in hours of work. I fully trusted him the entire time and look forward to seeing the piece completed. I dont think I could ever go anywhere else.

I spent long time looking for someone to do a Marine Corps emblem (EGA) and finally found Toby’s portfolio about a month ago. He does great work.I set up an appointment and this happened yesterday.Thought about going down to Oceanside or Norfolk for someone who does a lot of ‘em and knows what he’s doing. But didn’t want someone bored with doing same thing all time.So for about 15 years I been looking for nonmilitary guy to do it. I think it turned out great. He free-handed it, it, no stencil. If you trust him he’ll do wonders. I took in official seal to show him that, then a couple things I liked and couple things I didn’t like, pointed out what I liked and didn’t like and he combined everything just perfect

I went for their Walk-In Wednesday a couple of weeks ago and Toby turned my simple idea into something incredible! Everyone here was friendly, atmosphere was great, and Im beyond happy with my neck tattoo thats almost healed now. The follow-up emails were helpful and I could not recommend this tattoo shop enough.

Tobey and Nisha were fantastic. We needed to get in for a double appt in a very short time frame, due to a family tragedy, and they were so kind and managed to fit us in. We gave them an original piece of art, and Tobey did a wonderful job on short notice, putting this ink on two of us. I would very much recommend this shop to anyone looking to get a new tattoo, or add to an old one.

A friend and I visited Tattoo 34 to get friendship tattoos and the experience could not have been better. The space was clean, open, filled with plants and had great vibes. We loved spending time with Toby who freehanded the design upside down on my wrist and it has healed beautifully! Would definitely go back :-)

Walk in Wednesday was a treat.I just got a little tattoo, because thats what walk-in days are for. I was impressed by the professionalism and care--as well as the friendliness of all the staff.The vibe in the shop is mellow and supportive, I really appreciate how much care they take of their customers.The work of all of the artists that Ive seen is beautiful and precise and, dare I say it, lyrical.This may have been my first experience here, but it will not be my last. I am very happy with this shop, its people, and the quality of work.

I arrived around 3 pm on a walk-in Wednesday, my choice day to execute a dedication piece that I had been wanting for some time. I was greeted when I arrived with my tattoo design on printed paper. I signed the clipboard to join the queue (only 1 person ahead of me), and waited in the comfy seating area. They offered me snacks, tattoo look books, and beverage accomodations. I waited 15-20 mins. when the artist Ciel came over and we discussed my tattoo design and desires. He appreciated how prepared I was. ;) Once we were both on the same accord, I read and signed the QR wavier and waited while he disinfected the work space and prepared his tools. Once we got the tattoo placement to my liking and about 2 hours later I was sporting my new tattoo with absolute joy! Great experience. Highly recommended...bouns points if you come prepared.

Phenomenal experience!Right off the bat I want to say Ciel who did mine and my partners tattoos was amazing. Me and my girl went in late at night for our first ever tattoos. No one was there but us and him which you might think would be a bit intimidating or off in some way given it was our first tattoo experience and at night in Portland, but you would be sooo wrong. It was very comfortable, Ciel was respectful, understanding and clearly knew his craft very well. I felt at ease from the very beginning and so did my partner. Throughout the 3 and some hour process that ended around 11 at night he was really conversational, super easy to talk too, we felt like we could trust him right away. Super cool dude that I will hopefully be back to see very soon.The location is very peacful. Lots of light and space which made me feel right at home.Should you go? Yes, one million percent. Id recommend Ciel La Rue aka The Green Flash for anyone of my friends or family and I extend that to whoevers reading this. You will not be disappointed.

I spent multiple months trying to get connected with an artist and shop who could help me put together another piece in my personal stories collection. Traveling in from out of town, i was somewhat limited on a window that would work in addition to trying to finalize the concept art of what I wanted. I could not be happier or more delighted with my experience, my tattoo, my artist - Silas Youfa - the whole deal! Silas worked SUPER hard to help come up with a handful of different options and helped me come up with a concept WELL beyond what I initially planned. If i could give a 10/10 I would!!! One of the best tattoo experiences I have ever had!! Highly recommend for both locals and anyone traveling to PDX and looking for a great shop/artist! Thank you, Silas!

I learned of Tattoo34 from a friend and he also recommended seeing Toby. I was able to get in his books and Im so glad I started my full arm sleeve with him. I just had my 3rd session and I am very pleased with the artistry. I put my trust into Toby, provided him with the ideas and allowed him to place, color, or leave black. As Ive spent time in the shop I felt great with the environment and support that each artist give one another. I know where my home shop will be from here on out!

Toby and Nisha were so incredibly supportive when I needed to rework a tattoo I had done there previously. Toby is such an amazing person to not only talk to but to watch as his creativity unfolds through his work. My apologizes for the late post...I just keep forgetting. Had gone into Tattoo 34 on 13August for my rescheduled appointment. The reschedule had nothing to do with the Tattoo Shop, but Covid-19 had swept the Country & thus the reason for the reschedule. Have to say, I could only imagine the nightmare that Nisha (Co-Owner) had in being the one to do all of the rescheduling. She was VERY helpful in scheduling my Appointment(s).Onto the Day of Tattoo Appointment...Of Course the Shop was very clean with Social Distancing & # of Patrons allowed in the Shop at one time...It was very well laid out. [I wont go into the whole check-in/call ahead process, because thats clearly well written out on their website, but will say, it was painless!] I had received my Tattoo from Toby [Owner].I know it reads on Tobys BIO that he likes to freehand & I didnt want to disrespect that, but I did have a design I liked for quite some time & he had no worries working with what I had envisioned, but I also wasnt afraid to take any & all suggestions Toby had provided, because after all, he is the Artist & can see what works for me.Toby was just AWESOME! Very laid back & easy to BS with. I never know when I go to get a Tattoo, if talking with the Artist is a distraction from them doing what they do or if I just keep quite...Toby didnt seem to bother with either shootin the s*it with me or just being quiet when I was quiet. Heck, at one point, I had to apologize because I was falling asleep!In the end...Toby did a FANTASTIC job. His vision of switching the Tattoo a different direction & adding shading, turned out AWESOME!

Every person at the studio is so incredibly talented. Every time I walk in, I honestly feel like I am coming home. The people are so warm and inviting. And incredibly creative. When I told Ryan what I wanted, I thought for sure there was no way he would be able to understand what I was trying to explain because I did a bad job explaining what I wanted. But he nailed it, his mock up was perfect and it looks phenomenal on my arm! And many months later the colors are still vibrant as the first day.

This place is amazing! Toby (he and his wife Nisha own this shop) has been working on a floral half sleeve for me and its absolutely stunning. In the hours Ive spent there Ive seen that all their artists are extremely talented. Super clean, safe environment. If youre looking for quality artwork this is the place!

I went here the other day for my first tattoo, I went to Ryan and he was amazing! Very quick and mostly painless, hes a very talented artist. I got vines wrapped around both my wrists and he lined them up perfectly so that theyre symmetrical, the whole process took about an hour and a half. Ill definitely be going to him again for my next tattoos.

I just walked in to get a fine line tattoos. some artist was out but they decided to come back to do my tattoo.a lady who did it for me was Kimber and I highly recommend her !!!i checked mine for 2 or 3 times and she did it for me kindly.i told her to make it as fine as possible and she definitely made it!!!it took 2hours total include waiting time.printing on my body tool 15-20min. （i changed the place a little bit twice and that took a time)tattooing was approximately 10-15min.for me, it was not so long time.totally, this is amazing.i came here by bus to get a tattoo and that was absolutely great choice to choose.

Ryan inherently understood what I wanted and designed a tattoo far better than anything I had pictured in my head, and made time for a same day appointment. I’ve been tattooed at several different shops and this place was the first to really impress. The customer service was great and the shop had a chill, unpretentious vibe. Tattoo shops can be kind of elitist and artists treat you like they are gracing you with their presence, but I didn’t get that vibe here. I came in as a walk-in and was tattooed by Kimber who was super nice and I’m so happy with my tattoo.

I have been here twice and Doug at Tattoo 34 is fantastic! He really does great work. The first tattoo I got from him was a cover-up and, it turned out great! The second is a larger set of flowers which we just did the line work for. It looks so good and I am really excited to get back in a couple weeks to get the shading and coloring done. When I walked in, I was impressed by the cleanliness, professionalism, and welcoming atmosphere. Hanam and other tattoo artists here are incredibly talented and take the time to listen to your vision while offering their advice to ensure the design comes out perfect. My tattoo turned out even better than I imagined — the attention to detail and craftsmanship are top tier.Throughout the entire process, Hanam made sure I was comfortable and walked me through every step. The shop has a great vibe, with a strong emphasis on hygiene and customer care, which put me at ease. I am already planning something with him again soon.
