I cannot speak highly enough of this place. Every employee I talked with was so nice and helpful. Im new to tattoos, so I was a little nervous going into this, but Matt went very far out of his way to help me figure out what I wanted and design my tattoo. You can tell he takes pride in his work, and not only that, he tries very hard to make it an enjoyable experience for his clients. Thank you for what you do, Matt!! I didnt have a great experience with my first tattoo, so I waited years to get another, but your shop has changed all that for me. I hope I can come up with another tattoo idea so I have an excuse to come by the next time Im in town again.

I was excited to get a tattoo for my son. Mallory was AMAZING! However, when I was sitting in the chair, my husband was asking about a tattoo for himself. Next thing I know the owner Kathy is interrupting our conversation saying I’m micromanaging and I have no right to give any input on my husband’s tattoo considering we had talked about ideas for years. I told her I didn’t want to discuss this with her and she kept yelling at me. After my appointment she followed me as well. Dylan is a joke. I overheard his comments as well when my husband was consulting and he couldn’t even pay attention to what my husband wanted. $400 for a 4” tattoo is a joke. We were there for hours and no one wanted to work with him. Absolutely ruined my experience of something we had been looking forward to. Thank you Mallory for doing everything we wanted. She listened to ideas and put together a beautiful concept for us both. Will be back to see Mallory, but do not recommend this business.

Matt Thrash transformed my words into amazing artwork. I feel like he reached into my skull and yanked out exactly what I had imagined. We had a great conversation while he showcased his skill, and now I have the perfect excuse to come back every year! Very impressed! Thank you for being a part of my first rally!

I cant recommend Thrashs Tattoo highly enough and wouldnt imagine of going anywhere else at this point. I have now had two tattoos done by Matt and they have both come out incredible. For both of them Matt really took to the time to understand what I wanted form the tattoo and customize it to best epitomize that. Each time I walked out with a tattoo that was way more badass than the idea I entered with. Aside from that Matt is just a great guy to spend several hours with while getting your tattoo.The rest of the staff have also been fantastic to work with and the facilities themselves have been great. They have established a very welcoming environment and facilities that are clean and comforatbale.

Matt Thrash is the only person I trust when it comes to adding art to my skin. Over ten tattoos later he’s still the best around. I don’t consider it a tattoo appointment. I sit down with a friend and talk about life. Several hours later I have a badass tattoo I’m proud to have.

I knew years ago after I saw Matt’s work that someday I would get a tattoo from him, I went there yesterday and had him do a memorial for my parents on my arm. I am beyond words at how happy I am with his work, this tattoo means the world to me and he brought it to life. He and his staff are first rate, I will definitely be going back for more.

Mallory did my tattoo today. I am beyond words at how much I love it! I gave her my idea and let her at it. She is so artistic, funny, and awesome. The shop is great. Just got my tattoo done by Mallory and she did an amazing job! They were all very accommodating as soon as I walked in the door. Which was very helpful (I have a slight fear of needles) as this tattoo was my very first one!

My mom and I came in to get tattoos together, and on the way there my car engine seized up, we called the shop and Mallory waited an extra hour beyond our appointment time for us. She was polite and friendly, and all-around an epic person to be around. Our tattoos look and feel incredible and we love them. We both plan on returning to Mallory for future work!

Beyond my wildest expectations. The team at Thrash is awesome. They took my concepts and created a work of art that exceeded anything I could ever dream up. Working with Bridgette to get the ball rolling was stress free. Mallory designed my piece and took extra care to make sure my vision was perfect before I even arrived in town. Did I mention we came in from South Carolina to get this work done. She and Matt were hands and ink on from start to finish. By far the best tattoo expereince in the Badlands and well beyond. Kudos for the great work.

My wife and I contacted Thrash’s through the online form to schedule our appointments and describe the work we wanted done. We were contacted quickly and provided a few options for available dates. While the dates were a few weeks out, we were able to get our tattoos on the same day. Amanda did an amazing job on each of our pieces. She took the ideas that we presented over email and turned them into two amazing pieces that we are both very happy with.As a local business owner, we appreciate the extra steps and clear communication that Matt and his team are providing during this unprecedented time. The process was simple and straightforward and in our opinion worth the wait. Thank you Matt and thank you Amanda, when the urge for new ink comes again, I know who we’ll call.

Im a first-time client and could not be more satisfied. From the appointment scheduling with Bridget to meeting the founder, Matt, at his establishment my experience was outstanding. Most importantly, Amanda Allison was a true delight to work with. She took my ideas, contributed her artistic expression and applied them into a beautiful and very personal work of art. I have gotten four tattoos all which were done at Thrash’s. The staff is very friendly and professional. They are willing to work with you on anything u want and the professional advice is always a plus. Every time I have gone into Thrash’s I have always been impressed. I would not go anywhere else for my tattoos. Anytime I have left thrash’s i leave happy with what I have gotten done. The building is very clean and organized and the staff is very welcoming. Amanda has done most of my tattoos and I was vey excited with how they turned out. She was very friendly and very professional.

Unwelcoming! Owner made it clear this is not the place to go for walk ins. Went in at 530pm with an out of state friend (They close at 8pm) He had just finished up his last tattoo for the day and said he was too tired to do our simple tattoos. He went on about how him and his wife would never be like that- that they had done their time and don’t want to work all day and that he tattoos the same 30 people every year. Very awkward/unpleasant vibes. This is probably why they are trying to sell shirts to stay in business and can’t find artists- nobody wants to work for them. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere 100%

Aaron Pearcy is an exceptional tattoo artist!! I can’t say enough about how awesome my tattoo is 😊 We’ve had 2 sessions so far so I’ve had to hang out with him for 8 hours... and he is hilarious and makes you feel super comfortable. I true professional in quality and character. I wanted a tattoo that would cover old scars and something feminine/delicate. He did that and far beyond what I expected.

It was my first tattoo. Went really well not as bad as I expected at all. I did a lower back that will go up my spine eventually. After it healed though I noticed that there were inconsistencies in it. Not sure what happened I had stayed very still and I thought it went well at the time. The guy that did it was really nice and the design he came up with was great. But something went wrong because people that looked at it all noticed the inconsistent lines and filled in places werent filled in well. It looked really off and I was upset that it was permanent and not looking as I expected. I talked to Loren the owner. He said come in I will fix it for free even though he isnt the one I paid to do it. He was really cool to chat with while he did it and he spent an hour redoing my tattoo. Afterwards it looked SO much better...i mean it looks great! I even asked to tip him but he refused. Loren is a busy guy but if you can wait and get an appointment with him I highly recommend it. Atmosphere at place is great and clean and prices are fair. And they stand by their work and take care of you. Im sure the guy that first did mine is great or he wouldnt be there and something just went wrong. I had to do it twice but Im happy!

Felt talked down to. Seemed like my artist wanted to do everything her way and not the way I wanted it or even where I wanted it. When things were uneven or lines were too thin and I asked her to improve upon them, I was met with constant excuses as to why she couldnt accommodate me. Its my money, my time and my body and I dont feel happy with the work done. I have to go to a different tattoo place to try to correct her work and get what I asked for and paid for. If your going to Sturgis for bike rally or any event in the area and want to get a tattoo.... definitely get one.... JUST NOT HERE if you want to get what you want.

I got my first tattoo here (and decided on getting a second in the middle of my first lol). Amanda did amazing! Very friendly, nice atmosphere, great service & good prices. I will definitely be going back! Highly recommend!

I booked an appointment through them, made a deposit, drove from Wisconsin to the shop, and was told upon arriving that my fiance could not sit with me during the tattoo. I found this frustrating but was willing to abide by their rules. At that point I was told they would not tattoo me today because frustration was bad for the tattoo and that they deal with a lot of angry people and were only looking out for our own safety I was not angry at all until I was told they refused to tattoo me that day and that they didnt feel like it was a good fit and they asked me to leave

Mandy was amazing! My great grandma who is almost 80 has been to one tattoo shop before & had a bad experience. We came here to get our tragus piercings changed & I got my daith pierced. The service was wonderful, the shop was clean & tidy, mandy made my grandma feel very comfortable in an environment she normally wouldnt be comfortable in.

I have gotten 2 tattoos at this establishment. Environment could be more welcoming, but didn’t deter me. I recently requested help with a cover-up and was told no artist wanted the job… via email. No call to explain or give me recommendations. I’m very disappointed.

The only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because the people were nice enough. The price and tattoo itself isn’t that great. Came in for a spur of the moment family tattoo with my cousins while we were in town for a funeral. I don’t remember any of the names of the people, but a female did my tattoo and it looks bad 2 months later... the fill work is below subpar, the line work is terrible, I couldn’t even hear the machine going, and she was super light handed. I will probably end up getting it covered because it looks terrible and will fade over time.And the price!?! YeH, we should have waited until we got home to get these tattoos. $125 for a tattoo the size of a quarter and no color, just lines. I’ll pass on getting any more tattoos in South Dakota when I’m there.

The place was overpriced for the lack of quality work. Spent $125 on a tattoo that took 10 minutes. Basic tattoo with no shading. A couple of the lines arent straight and they are thicker than the rest. Heard great things and thats why we picked Thrashs but we werent impressed. Will not go back and would not recommend.

Bad experience & would stay away . I got a tattoo while at the Sturgis rally & was so so excited to get my first tattoo . My arm is a mess from a unprofessional artist & very unfriendly when asking any questions. My tattoo looks like it says Honda Davidson not Harley Davidson. Go at your own risk ....

Ive had multiple tattoos and piercings at this shop and have always had professional, artistic, great experiences. Aaron Pearcy, especially, is a phenomenal artist with great style. Definitely the place to get tattooed in the Black Hills.

We love Thrashs. As a couple weve received two piercings and five tattoos at this shop over the course of 11 years. Kevin Troxel is a phenomenal free hand artist and Matt Thrash keeps a world-class, clean, shop that works hard to make everyone feel at home. There isnt any other shop Ive been in, across the US, that rivals Thrashs.

If this (picture of a tattoo) is what you are looking for, then this is the place for you. Scaring, completely illegible, just an overall bad experience.This is a picture of my boyfriends tattoo he got while there for the 75th anniversary.My boyfriend had his own on review on here, that was nothing but honest, but yet that review was deleted.I hope that this doesnt happen to anyone else, and that is why I am posting this review. No one deserves to be permanently scarred like this. Buyer beware.

Aaron Pearcy is seriously amazing! My tattoo was far beyond what I expected. He made the experience pleasant from start to finish, he is definitely my go to in Rapid City

I got my ear peirced at there other location and the lady who did it messed up... She used to small of a gauge, didnt ask me what type of jewelry I wanted and gave me a stud for a cartilage piercing... I came here 2 days after O got it done because the stud kept getting caught on EVERYTHING! Mandy, the lady who fixed it, was so nice, she showed me the jewelry she was using, told me the gauge and told me what she was doing as she went threw the process of fixing it.

The work the artist did was top notch no problem with that part. But if you are you g to get ink get everything in writing first I put a 100 dollar deposit down on a piece that was quooted at 5 or 600 by Pam then got the work done the next morning. Come time to pay she charged me over 700 telling me she wrote it down In her. Book for that. That pure robbery and bullshut I shouldnt have had to pay max the day of over 500 instead she charged my card for almost 700 that tat ended up costing almost 800 dollars I HIGHLY recommend the guys next to the side back strip club cant remember dudes name but he us 66 and has dreads he did a,price on my shoulder which thrashed quoted at 600 for 450 and didny screw me on the pruce he kept his word. BE CAREFUL WITH THRASHERS GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING their work is top quality their billing is ROBBERY

Kevin or whatever his name is came off a bit rude and walked off after I asked him about pricing on tattoos, everyone else was friendly and willing to talk probably won’t return. However I would recommend wild idea tattoo which is owned by the same folks I believe.

This is the second time Ive gone to thrashes tattoo to get a tattoo from Loren Gooden he does amazing work and if he doesnt think its going to work he lets you know and always wants to make sure that you get the best product I would recommend him to anybody

Great music, got me in pretty easily for a small tattoo, and the atmosphere is laid back. Overall thought it was a reasonable price, and the receptionist was the bees knees!

Horrendous tattoo and when I returned after removing the bandage the artist twisted my hand. Looks like he learned his skill in prison! A 5 yr old could have done better! Avoid!!!

Looked like a run of the mill shop, nothing special. Full of 90s cherry creek type flash on walls. No original art, Im sure they can do pinterest tattoos.
