Don at Enigma is incredible at his job. Clean lines, clean station/work area, awesome dude! Don has been tattooing my best friend and I for years and we will not go anywhere else! I even travel from Tampa to see him!!The studio itself is very nice. Clean, well kept, and very spacious! The staff was all very friendly and accomodating to us and other customers that came in while we were there. I can sometimes feel intimidated in tattoo shops but this one felt very comfortable!

Had to get some “emergency” piercing stuff handled l, came into a super welcoming environment filled with people eager to help me. It was refreshing considering I had a somewhat negative experience at another shop recently. Charlotte handled everything that had to be done with my jewelry and I couldn’t be more thankful! I recommend this shop highly to anyone looking for body modifications :)

I had a nose piercing on the spur of the moment and the staff were awesome. I’m an older person and they assured me age wasn’t a factor. They were caring and patient.and explained the process fully. Kyah did a great job putting me at ease and making sure I understood the process and aftercare. She was also patient with my 16 year old who got her ears pierced. My very first tattoo was there over 15 years ago and it is still as beautiful today as then. I would recommend Enigma to anyone especially a newbie who wants special treatment. Ask for Kyah!

Linzi did an excellent job on piercing my Husband’s ears. She greeted us as we walked into the door and have a great personality. ThanksJosuha did my third tattoo and as always I love it!!!! He is great at his job and advice.Over All No better place to go in RVA!!

I wanted to give to give it two stars but that means I disliked it.it was okay they just over charged the heck out of me. At lucky 13 for my nose piercing I paid $30 I think, they charged me a $87. Said the top of the earring cost $25 & the bottom of the earring cost $25. LoL can you believe that. Then all other taxes,then the $35 fee.Besides that the piercer was great.easy vibe, professional,even helpful explaining what hes doing along the way.

This place is slow and the girl with the pink and blonde hair is rude and obnoxious. I went to get a nose piercing and waited for over an hour and still wasn’t seen, Even after asking twice the wait time. The girl seem to be more interested in sharing how bad Lucky 13 Tattoo is than providing great customer service. Lucky 13 is much faster and has much better customer service and is cheaper. I will never go here again. 👎🏽

Jeff did mine he was a nice guy .I still think 150 is way to high for a small tattoo..It really was only 50 but the sitting fee is 100 so all in all cute tattoo but Definitely not worth a 150 pluse a 25 tip Ill never go here again .They are way to high and shops are overcharging pple front desk the girls were rude .Lucky 13 way cheaper and you get more for your money ...

I’ve gotten 4 piercing from here from Laura and the experience was amazing! Laura explained everything she was going to do before she did it and walked me through both the piercing and recovery process. She also answered all of my questions with patience and went as far as explaining why certain jewelry/ piercing wouldn’t work for me. She also did a follow up by calling after a few weeks of my piercings! overall amazing staff and environment. I will never go anywhere else for a piercing. Laura girl thank you so much

Ive had 2 piercings from enigma, laura is fantastic and it has been a great experience both times. healing has gone great, very professional, and its a super comfortable environment. Best piercing experiences I have had for sure!

I got my daith piercing here with a Walk in and it was amazing practically no pain but it was $50 for jewelry alone. Super nice my blood sugar dropped and I got full body sweat and was nauseous they gave me a juice box and were super nice

I just got a tattoo there and Ive gotten most of my tattoos at lucky 13 and let me say I like this place a lot more. My tattoo was so nice and the lines were very straight and smooth. Its nice and quiet in the waiting room which helped ease my anxiety. The staff is SO nice and caring. I actually felt like they wanted me to be there and they didnt rush me out. By far the best tattoo shop in RVA! Josh did an amazing piece of art on my arm! From the initial phone call to finishing my tattoo, the entire staff is beyond great! Everyone in the shop is friendly and involved, not with just what they are doing but with all that is going on. Had a great vibe where old school meets the modern age. Already planning my next piece to get done there. The owner was there every step of the way with everything that was going on. Definitely a great experience for me. Warning....got a tattoo last weekend. Simple small E on my ring finger and this thing is a mess! The lines are crooked, some places are missing a line all together and its just a whole mess! This is going to have to be removed for sure.

I increased the gage of my septum ring. The staff was patient, kind and knowledgeable. After the jewelry was changed, they made sure it was adjusted so that I could hide my septum in my nose like I needed for work. 10/10 would get stabbed there! Also had a cool, get what you get cryptid tattoo gumball machine.

Great customer service, I was a walk-in and they immediately greeted me and provided an approximate wait time as well as a huge library of fonts and gallery of artists. Great friendly atmosphere and professional artist!

Love my new addition! Whent with a few friends for peircings and Shawn was great! Quick, and virtually painless. He answered all our questions and was patient while we decided what we wanted. 100% will come back for peircings and next tattoo.

I went in for a simple heart tattoo and it came out wonky. i payed 100$ for it. the girls that greeted me were nice but but the art is just not it. it was overpriced and not done good.

I was absolutely in love with the setting of the studio. It was very welcoming. And the piercer was great! I got my “girls” pierced and it was my first professional piercing ever so I was a little nervous even with being covered in piercings. I felt so comfortable and it was quick and simple and they look great! Will definitely be coming back.

Absolutely love Laura! I’ve done 6 piercings with her and every time she’s been phenomenal. She is always so patient and kind, and she really knows what she’s doing! I always come back to her for advice and new piercings!

I love being able to come and see Laura, such a lovely piercer! But here AND at River City? The front desk staff d e f need some customer service training. Had a rude interaction with Jay. If it werent for the piercing team, I probably wouldnt bother. Would love to change the score in the future if that gets better at this location lol

My friend and I went in for walk in ear piercings, I got a helix and my friend got a rook. The staff was so incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They brought out all the jewelry so we could pick the right fit and also recommended what would work best for the new piercings and how long to wait before switching it out. The process was clean, quick and the piercer explained the process as she completed each step. 10/10 would recommend and will definitely be going again for future piercings.

Really great! went in last week for two piercings and was so happy i went in again to get more! everything was sterilized and they created a great environment! i get lightheaded easily and at one point was feeling very weak, they gave me a juice box and made sure i was good to go before they pierced my other ear and a few more times before i left. really great group of people who know their stuff!

I’ve gotten a piercing here from Constance in the past and it was literally the least painful piercing I’ve ever had! Such good customer service then as well. I’ve got a tattoo sleeve started by Jess and she is an amazing tattoo artist!! She’s very thoughtful about the placement of individual pieces, the size of everything, and how everything flows. I trusted her professional opinion and so far my sleeve is looking amazing and I can’t wait to go back for the finished product! Would highly recommend Jess!

I came here to get my nostril and septum pierced. They provide great service and an amazing selection of jewelry to choose from. I had no issues with scarring at all. I would definitely return!

Went in for a small walk-in tattoo on a slow Sunday night. Everyone there was very laid back and friendly. Very reasonable shop minimum and clean atmosphere. With so many shops in the city with amazing talent, for me , the experience is everything. All the guys were very chill and welcoming and their work is clean and consistent. My artist was Josh. I’ve also gotten a piercing from Joey , who super professional and well informed. He’s also helped me with jewelry and advice for piercings I’ve gotten outside of this shop which is super appreciated! This is an all around quality shop, which can be hard to come by in the city. Would definitely recommend to anyone , especially first timers, to inquire about getting a tattoo or piercing!

Called a day ahead for pricing and was given a higher price by $25 at the shop. The earring stud jewelry was unimpressive, with anything not having a butterfly backing being at least $100. Lucky 13 may use stainless steel but it at least did not have a butterfly back. Piercer was nice but didnt go much into aftercare.

My husband and I got small rose tattoos for our son and we absolutely love them! Josh was our artist and he was awesome! Everyone there was super nice and very professional, I would 100% recommend. We will definitely be back!

Today I went in & inquired about a piercing. The lady at the front desk was non-chalant & barely looked up. She lacked customer service skills big time & seemed as if she didn’t want my services. When I asked about the cost for the helix piercing she said $65. Her attitude & price didn’t sit well with me, so I went across the street to Lucky 13 where they actually had customers & great customer service skills! The same helix piercing cost me $20 with Lucky 13.

My friend and I had Joey do our second ear piercings, and he was SO NICE! He made sure we weren’t in too much pain and asked us if we needed to take a break. He was calm and professional. The environment was clean, colorful, and not too crowded. Would definitely recommend! The only downside was an unexpectedly high price (125 dollars for both lobes and the earrings), but for quality jewelry and experience it was worth it.

I got my nose pierced on Saturday and the healing process is going great! They use titanium which makes me happy because I have a nickel allergy. The piercer was super nice and talked me through everything. They have a great jewelry selection of gem colors and gem sizes.

Love this place, both the Rose and butterfly have been from Ash. Genuinely one of the coolest guys I’ve met and his line work is better then a computer

I pretty much grew up in here.Took some of my first steps on those floors.Got my first piercing I consented to here!(I dont count my ears as an infant in a mall.)Got my first tattoo here too!I been sending my friends here for years cuz I know whatever they need will be done right the first time! (Cuz if you go across the street, I bet money youll be coming back here in a month or less trying to get your work fixed!!) I trust virtually everyone in there to the fullest! And if Im lucky, Ill be in there working with these awesome artists some day!!!

Everyone was so friendly and informative! They got us in quick, and were super quick with the piercing itself, while still taking the time to answer all my questions about it, and doing it right. The healing process so far has been wonderful, and easy, with the help of all the info I was given. Definitely will be going back ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Always have an amazing time here with awesome staff that are professional! Have gotten 2 sets of different piercings here (both my daughter and I) and will continue to choose Enigma in the future, everytime! I really appreciate the fact that you are not having to wait in a long line of teenagers who are getting wild spur of the moment piercings with overworked piercers that cannot take the time to make the experience peaceful or to the best sanitized standards/regulations.So basically if your wanting a great experience the way a piercing/tattoo studio should be, then please go to Enigma.

This place was awesome. They had quality jewelry, service, and cleanliness. I also felt very comfortable in the shop. They put back in 2 piercings that were kind of closed, and pierced my ear. I give them 5 stars all around. Very happy with my experience here

I took my daughter here for 1st experience for piercing for her birthday, the man that pierces came to her very blunt and was walking off while talking to her, very RUDE no detail explaination on why he couldnt do it just he wasnt, then went to another customer to explain why he wasnt going to do it, its no one elses business why he couldnt do what we asked for him to do thats unprofessional. I really like this place I received multiple tattoos from here so this was a trusted business to take my daughter, not again very disappointed.

Came with a group, all getting smaller tattoos. Let me say the tattoos turned out good. The service however - WOW. Never have I ever experienced such rudeness. I asked to have my husband stay back with me, received a firm NO. They said it was against policy. However, when we arrived there was a gentleman getting a tattoo and a lady was right back there with him, in the booth. While trying to ask questions I was given short answers or cut off and told I dont know, you can go somewhere else. If all other shops within the vicinity werent already booked for the next 1.5 hours I would have. I see why this place was empty. Again all our tattoos turned out fine but custom service matters. I would never go back there again. I have 7 tattoos and been to several different locations. This one is by far the worst.

Yes I pulled the trigger and finally got the nose piercing I always wanted, but was too much of a punk to have done way back when ( besides my dad would have killed me 😜). My great niece was my hype girl ( Im easily manipulated by my 13 yo niece 🤣). She said it would be fly on me, he he gotta love her. The place was clean, decorative and they accepted walk ins ( big ups). They had an amazing selection of hole fillers, and tattoo designs (may get a tat next). @piercingdynamics was my piercer ( I cant remember their name, just what they wrote on the card). They were a really calming person, with humor and charm. I was sashayed to the pokey room, to gitter dun! I was given an explanation of the process as I was experiencing it. It was brutal, but smooth! Im glad I did it and will be returning for more piercing/tat fun 😜! Go check them out, dont take my word for it.

I came here to get a piercing and an employee made me and my boyfriend stand outside in the rain. They said they weren’t taking anymore people inside for piercings and I was like “okay that’s fine” because i can understand. I call about 10 minutes later and he tells me that due to covid-19, they are not doing piercings at all which is definitely a lie because another review says that a week ago, they did somebody else’s piercing. I’m just saying, if y’all don’t want to pierce somebody, just say that, don’t lie. I definitely won’t be coming here.

Ive come here for three tattoos so far and each time Ive gotten great customer service. Mainly I deal with Scott since I think hes the best that Ive dealt with but generally everyone is always really nice when I come in. I dont think the place deserves half the bad reviews its gotten and I have great ink to prove it.Give it a chance for sure!

Very clean and sterile atmosphere. Dental Clinics use the same autoclave to sterilize instruments. I called at 730pm (establishment closes at 8pm)inquiring about a specific piercing and the availability of a piercer. Shawn Levett was able to accommodate and answer all questions. He explained every step and reassured me that everything would be OK. He is very meticulous and took his time with placement and piercings. I highly recommended Shawn if youre searching for a great piercer. No complaints at all! The price was very reasonable. $40 total for two piercings including the jewelry. I came here and was told that an earlobe piercing would be 45 + tax and ended up paying 85 total. Other than that we were helped by the most wonderful lady and the quality of my piercing is top notch than others i’ve had in the past.

This place was awesome and the people were very helpful. This was my first time getting a tattoo and I felt like I was in good hands. I had Scott and he was awesome! He walked me through everything that he was doing and gave me detailed care for after. I highly recommend them.

I just got my first tattoo done here, im glad i did. the shop looks kinda sketch when its empty but it is clean. Dustin did my tattoo he did a great job, i showed him what i wanted, (lettering) and we worked on the exact style with me and i liked what he came up with. his room was clean and everything looked legit. The tat only took 20 min. the shop was good and i will be back for my next tat

Joey was really knowledgeable and honest. Even though Im familiar with the process he still walked through everything and kept me updated on exactly what he was doing the whole time. A bit more heavy handed than Im used to, not a bad thing because that jewelry is going to STAY PUT! Really happy with the experience.

I thought everyone here was super nice and helpful, I had a great experience walking in. While getting my tattoo it felt different than my others but I didn’t think much of it. A couple hours afterward I lifted up my bandage and there was a ton of blood. I’ve never bled before so I figured it was a one time thing. A couple days later and the ink from my tattoo has bled under my skin, and now I know he went way too deep. The man who did my tattoo was a little older, I can’t remember the name. It sucks that I spent so much money to have a tattoo ruined. Be careful who you get your tattoo from, this was very rushed and he definitely didn’t take his time.

I got a tattoo while in Richmond on a whim, we found Enigma Studios and glad we did. I wanted to get a butterfly on my foot and knew it was going to hurt but Mike took good care of me. I absolutely love my tattoos, thank you so much Mike. The staff was great and I was very comfortable in their shop. Thanks guys.

My friends and I went in and got piercings. I got my rook, one of my friends got her cartilage, and my other friend got her nipples and belly button pierced. The shop was very clean and the piercer was extremely knowledgable and easy to talk to. Ill definitely be coming back to get some more

Got my septum pierced here because Lucky 13 was too busy (not their fault, just a busy day). Honestly I made a great choice, the staff was super nice and the piercing healed perfectly.

Purchased some earrings here the other day... had the piercer who was available put them in for me.Firstly, he didnt sanitize the earrings or my ears before putting them in. Secondly, I found out after I got home that the earrings were a couple gauges too big for my ears, making them very painful to wear.The piercer struggled when putting them in, and you would think they would know how to tell if an earring was too big for the piercing.called the store to try and see if i could return the earrings only to find out they wont take them back. Im out $100 now. Would not recommend.

I got my nose pierced in Radford a few months ago...last night I took out my corkscrew nose ring and couldnt get it back in. I went to Enigma today because it was closest and Joey was so kind, bent the ring so it would fit my nose better, and put it back in my nose for free! I will definitely come back in for piercings in the future. 😊

Would give no stars if i could have! When i arrived i had 6 people with me, i was there wanting to get my daughter her first tattoo. But to my suprise wow!! the customer service was incredibly horrible. First, my fiancee was looking at the fish tank which the man behind the counter didnt like so he gave him a sly comment about that. Second, he took my picture of the tattoo my daughter wanted and went to the back to show the tattoo artist came back and said with an attitude we do not have time to do this tattoo. Now keep in mind the tattoo was a small rose no color just outline. Mind you its only 6:30 pm and they close at 8pm NOOOBOODY was in there. Long story short we left and NEVER going back!!! Trust me its a good reason no one was in there.. Everyone was across the street at Lucky 13. I would def stay far drombthis place if i was you

Went to get my nose re-pierced. The man that did mine was super nice and informative. Piercing cost $75 with jewelry tipped him $10. 10/10 will go back for any new piercing and even my first tattoo later this year.

Got a great finger tattoo cover-up here with Scott P. about two years ago when I first moved to RVA.. Had a great conversation and experience that time.. Like I wanted him to be my tattoo guy here. But since then, Ive tried 5 different times to get tattooed by him. He is a chronic canceller. Him being such a great person that first time honestly makes it even worse that hes actually super irresponsible and inconsiderate. If you go in and catch him, hell do a great job on your tattoo, but do NOT expect anything else from him. And NEVER schedule an appt. He WILL cancel. It happened to me 5 times over the past 2 years. And if he ever asks for your number, understand that he will never text you like he promises he will. Idk whats up with the guy.

This is my family tattoo spot, with Scott Parsons being our artist. He and his staff have tattooed my aunt and uncle and their three kids, another uncle, myself, my fiance, my mother in law, and several of my friends. I personally requested that Scott do my mother-in-laws tattoo because it was her way of celebrating her being breast cancer free for over five years. He was busy but he did it, and did a beautiful job. She shows it off every chance she gets! I thought the tattoo experience was always going to be crappy after my first three tattoos from River City in 2008 and 2009 all of which were done so heavy handed the skin is still raised and they have all looked awful from day one.I do admit that I got one tattoo done here that I wasnt happy with but it was absolutely not because of the work they did, it just heeled terribly. I showed it to Scott along with my first crappy/mistake tattoo and seconds later we were discussing fixing them both up. I had one of my River City tattoos covered here and will soon have Scott cover the other 2.My fiance and I are very much looking forward to heading back to Enigma for new ink!

I’ve visited twice and have been very satisfied with services and prices. The first visit was for a piercing 4 years ago and the second was for a cover up tattoo a 2 years ago. I still get compliments on my tattoo.

Wasnt greeted very nicely and when my friends went to leave, I had to throw them the keys and I was told to stop going in and out because it was cold out. It was very rude and I shouldnt have the feeling of taking my busines elsewhere. Great work, but Not great customer service at all, and doesnt seem like they care about that as well.

Everytime I go here it has no customers. Hes charging me $149 for regular standard size earlobe piercings. No wonder he has no customers. Im never asking him anything ever again.

Best to just get peirceings done here the tattoo parlor portion of the shop is a bit... Amateur. Prices are steep for the work, but the people are so chill and awesome. Definitely recommend.

Racist!!!! Jordan would not help me, obvious of what the issue was considering I was the only black person in the whole establishment.

The establishment is clean. Staff is polite and courteous. Very knowledgeable.

Everyone had low energy, no enthusiasm, wanted 2 half ass the job. Very dissapointed after $300. Dont go!
