Alchemy Tattoo Collective - Central West End

I’ve been to Alchemy Tattoo for many different tattoos, and have always had a very positive experience. I just recently got these ankle tattoos from Kat (@kittysbentneedles) and she knocked it out of the park. I gave her my idea/some reference photos and she was able to make it come to life. I have literally been recommended this shop and this artist to everyone I know who wants to get some ink. Keep up the amazing work!

Got my first piece done with Alchemy Collective on 7/25 with the AMAZING Kathryn @kittysbentneedles. Right away with the consultation, Kat made sure that I was able to process through my ideas and gave me a bunch of different options. Day of the tattoo was incredibly smooth! Was in and out within an hour and was comfortable the entire time! The space was kept clean and orderly while also feeling safe and comforting. The space as a whole is incredibly welcoming and you’re really able to see each artist’s vision of their space come to life. Will definitely be coming back for my next tattoo, thanks again! 🫶🏻💞✨

Lacey has done my last 3 tattoos and is absolutely amazing! She’s very easy to get along with and she does awesome work. I recommend her to all my friends and family and they’ve all had great experiences too.

Lacey did an amazing job making me feel comfortable. It had been a long time since I had gotten a tattoo due to some issues with the previous one and she walked me through everything and made the experience extreamly relaxing! Lacey crushed it with this one. This was one of my more meaningful tattoos and it’s a nod to Taylor so I wanted someone who understood and appreciated the meaning behind it. She took all of my design ideas and morphed them into one and then sat with me and rearranged it until it was absolutely, exactly what I wanted. She’s incredibly talented and also just fun to be around and talk to. And the shop itself is so clean and open and airy-it has a different feel from other shops I’ve been to.

One of the best tattooing experiences I’ve had. Everyone was so friendly, the place was clean as hell and very aesthetically pleasing. Nice little shirt and product shop at the front. Digital forms etc. my tattoo was done by Cat M, she was amazing, both in her art and chill vibes! Will def be back.

Cannot recommend enough! The shop is so clean and has the coolest vibes, and the staff is super knowledgable and friendly! Kat is an absolutely phenomenal artist and did an amazing job! It was my first tattoo and she made the experience so wonderful! 🖤

Coris attention to detail was beyond my expectations. Ive had so many tattoos in the past at other shops, where the artist finishes, wipes it clean and doesnt take much of a final glance and it ended up being a poor tattoo. Cori looked over her work thoroughly and went over any spots that werent perfect in her eyes and the outcome is a beautiful piece of art I get to see daily. I am beyond pleased with my tattoo and I cant wait to come back and get more art by her in the future. 100/10.

Kat (@kittysbentneedles) has been helping me rework a previous tattoo that I was no longer in love with. I remember when I first came in she said that the tattoo had served its purpose and it was okay for a change. That honestly meant the world to me because I was a little ashamed of not liking the tattoo less than a year after getting it. I’ve had several appointments with Kat now and she is wonderful to work with. She listens to your thoughts and helps bring them to light! I will definitely continue seeing Kat in the future!

We had a great experience with Kat. She was very responsive and accommodating of our requests. I and a friend got similar tattoos and both of us are very happy with it. Kat was precise and efficient with the design and it came out very pretty. She also offered to see and answer any of our questions afterwards too. The aftercare was also well explained. I did my research, read the reviews, and went with this studio for my first tattoo experience. Someone cares and it shows. These folks are kind. Its an inclusive, welcoming, spa-like atmosphere, and Im overall very pleased with my decision...After viewing the various portfolios, I chose Christa as my artist, and shes just lovely to work with. From consult and concept, throughout the process, she put me completely at ease, My particular tattoo (Sacred Heart) is ripe with symbolism, and I was very specific about what elements I wanted to include. She nailed it. Its gorgeous. The ideas for Tattoo #2 are already blooming, and Ill gladly return to Alchemy. Oh, and they expanded. CWE & South City now! Highly recommended.

Got a great tattoo from Ren, an apprentice with the shop. Atmosphere was clean cool and professional. It was my first tattoo and the whole experience was wonderful and fun even. Was taught how to care for the tattoo and it’s healed super well.My tattoo is stellar and gets me tons of compliments. I’m already coming back for a second. For my first tattoo I went big, and wanted a tattoo that took up half my arm. It was a reward for finally meeting a life goal, and I wanted it based off a sketch that meant a lot to me. Christa was my artist - and she knocked it out of the park. She made sure to spend time with me to make sure the image was exactly how I wanted, and she spent time placing it on my arm to confirm it had the best effect. She took her time and never rushed due to any time constraints. I felt seen, heard, and that all my concerns and ideas were important. The style is exactly what I wanted and I am beyond in love with my first tattoo. I will be going back to her for all my tattoo rewards.

Excellent location. Very clean and all employees were super nice. We saw Emily and I would DEFINITELY use her again. My daughter and I went in for a mother daughter tattoo. Emily listened and created exactly what we wanted. Also she is so sweet and personable.

My initial outreach, I felt nervous about if my artwork was able to be implemented into a tattoo. The first person I contacted, the appointment was declined so I went with a different artist which I felt was meant to be anyways. They stepped up to the challenge and recreated my piece in all the best ways while still keeping it close to the original. The consultation was brief yet individualized and I enjoyed having the lovely, G, as my tattoo artist.Other thoughtful things to note: They put up privacy panels which lessened my anxiety and helped me stay more relaxed before the jabby jabs started! Flexible scheduling, clean and professional atmosphere, and parking aint terrible either. Five stars from me and thank you! Def willing to refer more people to this shop :)

Christa is amazing. Got a small stork on my forearm, line work is great, healed perfectly and she was the easiest person to talk to. I have social anxiety and the thought of sitting there small talking makes me anxious but Christa was so chill and easy going that I will definitely be back for more work!

I worked with Kat. She is extremely talented and creative. I cant wait to work with her in the future for all my tattoos. The booking process was very simple and they got me in very quickly. Alchemy is a fantastic shop, great location and has very talented artist.

Worked with Kat to design a patchwork 3/4 sleeve as my first tattoos and she was awesome to work with. Took the time to understand what I wanted and if there was ever a disconnect she was quick to make alterations to make sure I was happy with end product. Never felt rushed or like I was being forced make a decision/get a piece that I wasnt 1000% happy with. Highly recommended to anyone looking for black and grey tattoos

Me and my bestie did a walk in with Justin. He was amazing, offered free touch ups, and was an over all good experience! The other artist greeted us as soon as we walked in and were super nice as well.

My friend and I came in yesterday to get tattoos. Kat did an outstanding job 10/10 recommended and will be coming back. Edit: went back yesterday kat again amazed me. Best birthday ever. She amazed me with an amazing memorial tattoo. Had me in tears. Kat is truly amazing.

Kat is amazing, I always feel super comfortable with her and confident in her work and ideas. Shes tattood me 3 times so far, more scheduled for the near future. She is always honest when giving advice about placement/detail/etc. All have healed wonderfully and without any difficulty. The shops atmosphere has a welcoming vibe, is always clean and parking is a breeze. Definitely recommend!

Everyone here is so friendly, welcoming, and inclusive. The environment is calm and inviting. My artist there is Emily, and shes never done wrong by me, but everyone there is ridiculously talented

I worked with Salsa for my fine line tattoo honoring my daughter. She was absolutely amazing to work with. & her work is fabulous. Alchemy is very clean & such a nice place. I’m so excited to work with Salsa on all my future tattoos!

I got my first tattoo done by Taylor. She was very sweet and made me feel very comfortable. The atmosphere and vibes in the shop are amazing. Already planning yo add to the sleeve.

I recently came here to get a cover up done, and Kat was amazing! She was very flexible when I had to reschedule and she did great work on my tattoo! The studio is very clean and welcoming as well. I recommend coming here for your next tattoo!

Update: Chelsea finished the final touch of for my tattoo and did a phenomenal job. If you don’t want a bad public review, then do better to your clients in personal interactions so they don’t have to resort to public reviews(as I talked to her over and over and told her personally for 11 months before I posted here). Chelsea defended Christa during my touch up saying bc she’s also a single mother she understands why she can’t keep appts. Not acceptable imo. Christa called ME “unprofessional” when this is not my profession. This shop does not hold their employees accountable. Will not be returning.I got my leg tattoo with Christa… I loved her but she has cancelled on me more than we have met. Over what will be 11 months after starting my tattoo with her, HOPEFULLY it’ll end in May(it didn’t, she cancelled the final touch up without notice). We started in August and her work was good. I didn’t get any ink until January. We have had 9+ or so appointments scheduled, and we only have met for 3. 1 was a consult and two were actual ink. When you get to have her tattoo you she is talented, but being cancelled on more times than we meet was enough to make me move on. I was sad but her attitude to not wanting to do better was quite off putting. I can work with people who show they care. I won’t be recommending her.

Christa was incredible!!! It took me almost two years to get a tattoo I wanted because I needed someone to take my ideas and turn them into something amazing. Christa did just that. It’s so much more incredible than I could even imagine!!!

I had a great experience at Alchemy a few weeks ago. Christa did an amazing job! She was so great and easy to work with. I never felt rushed or like I was being silly. The tattoo is beautiful and I dont think Ill ever get tired of staring at it in the mirror. My sister also got her first tattoo with Christa and she loves it! We cant wait to go back for more. Lew was amazing! He was very friendly and talked to me the entire time.. he got a kick out of my boyfriend that fell asleep while I was getting my tattoo done. Lew is AMAZING! A very talented individual. Shop was so clean and had a great vibe! I will definitely be using him for all of my future pieces :)

I love Alchemy! Their new location is lovely—a huge airy space, beautifully decorated, and with a very warm and welcoming vibe (I love all the plants!) Kat was my artist, and she is so kind and talented! She was amazing to work with: I gave her some broad and general ideas about what I wanted, and she offered me lots of thoughtful, beautifully-designed options, and was very patient and helpful in talking me through them. The final tattoo is perfect—exactly what I wanted, and that is all due to her and her tremendous talent! She made the tattooing process seamless and easy—she is great at making sure you know how the process will unfold, and checking in with you and your comfort. I cannot recommend her or this studio enough!

I woke up wanting a tattoo and was able to get right in as a walk in. Cj did my tattoo and he was super easy going and did an amazing job!!! Super creative and amazing at what he does, highly recommend. I had a vision of what I wanted and he drew up something and totally blew me away with the final piece. I am super happy with it and will be going back to him in the future

I was a little nervous about using an apprentice, but Damon was great. Super cool dude and gave me the tattoo I had pictured in my head. It has healed perfectly and looks amazing.

Went in for an appointment with CJ. The service was top notch - I felt comfortable and welcome the whole time. Not to mention the fantastic line work and shading he did on the tattoo! Have gone here for a number of pieces with a handful of artists, and have enjoyed my experience each time.

I had booked an appointment online during a special for apprentices and 10 minutes before my appointment time, my appt got canceled...as I was driving there. Apparently the person supervising the apprentice called off, which I dont fault the apprentice for but that definitely was disappointing since I scheduled my day around this time slot just to be canceled on the way there. Through disappointment I tried to reschedule but was unable to as the time already passed, and the person I had correspondence with did not reschedule either. After asking for them to reschedule, I was just told no and I havent heard anything back since.

I got my tattoo about a month ago. Katt is amazing at what she does. I loved how my tattoo turned out. She did exactly what I wanted!

The shop is clean, the vibes are immaculate and Lacey is the best!! She has done every one of my tattoos and I don’t plan on going to see anyone else!

Alchemy is staffed by incredible artists. I commissioned a tattoo with Natalie and the artistry was fantastic! The time flew by with good conversation and respectful silence. I was incredibly comfortable. I have not visited the new location, however, the old location was welcoming and full of high spirited and friendly artists. I would not hesitate to seek out another tattoo with Natalie or any artist working in the shop.

The vibes here are immaculate. The shop itself has an awesome atmosphere, such cool decor, good music…all the good things. 5 Stars for Alchemy Tattoo Collective and Natalie! (@natzaps)I got my first tattoo in 14 years at Alchemy yesterday (first session - will update and add pics once work is complete!) I was really nervous but everyone was so friendly and their new location is gorgeous and cozy. Natalie took time reviewing the design with me; resizing, playing with the placement, and just making sure it was perfect. During the tattoo, she made sure I was comfortable and we chatted and laughed the entire three hours. It was an excellent experience and I cant wait to go back.

I found Christa at a different tattoo shop and I FOLLOWED her when she came to Alchemy Tattoo Collective, that’s how good she is! She is currently working with me on my patchwork/sticker sleeve along with any misc. tattoos I want!! She has done 8 of my tattoos and will now be the only person I go to, she is very consistent and her line work is top notch! Very sweet and easy to work with, taking your ideas into account along with adding her professional suggestions in a way that is collaborative with you and your vision!

I got my first tattoo here by Natalie. We did a brief FaceTime consultation where I told her what I wanted and shared any images that I would like to be used. We talked about how I eventually wanted a sleeve but I really didn’t know how to make that work out with my idea.Natalie took that and came up with something perfect. When I actually got that tattoo done, it was a great experience. Natalie is ridiculously nice, she explained anything I wanted to know, and she made the whole thing as comfortable as it could be. The time honestly went very quickly and I loved the result. I highly recommend her, but everything I’ve seen from the other artists at Alchemy has been excellent too.The new location is bigger than the old one and is pretty cool inside. There’s quite a bit of street parking too, which doesn’t hurt.Great place, definitely check it out.

My wife and sister and law came here to get some concrete geese tattooed. I was just tagging along. Initially, hadn’t planned to get any work done. They were tattooed by G and was thoroughly impressed with the work and that they actually cared about what they wanted. My wife had found out they had an apprentice and knew I had a bucket list item to be tattooed by an apprentice. Then they just happened to find out she had time. So then down the rabbit hole we go! I talked to Cori and looked through her flash. Then picked out a stay trashy raccoon that was an original flash of hers. So we sat down got it done in about 3 hours. Was quoted two hours but I was happy to pay for the extra hours because she did absolutely amazing work and has only been tattooing on people for two months. I’ve been tattooed by people that have been tattooing for 20 years and now her that’s only been doing it for 2 months. I gotta say she was one of the most professional and laid back artists I’ve ever worked with. Light handed, great conversation, and super knowledgeable. I hear the owner brings up apprentices and GREAT on you because you are bringing rockstars to the game. Cori the corporate world didn’t deserve you. Tattooing is where you belong and I will absolutely travel back to have this apprentice tattoo me for a long time. My right arm is for sure hers to finish. I’ve been tattooed in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Branson, but this shop in St. Louis where it’s at. 🤘🏻

Alchemy studio is such a vibe and they are all inclusive. The art in the place is amazing as well as the music, the artist are amazing, shop is very clean and they treat you like a human and not a number. I was greeted and welcomed right away and had the opportunity to get work done by Joey. I was very comfortable the whole time. Joey was amazing to work with and far exceeded anything I would have ever thought of artistically. He is a true professional and his attention to details are second to none. I would love to get more work done by Joey in the future.

Met with Bre West today for a tattoo and I will def come back in the future. It was such a chill, relaxed atmosphere and everyone was friendly and professional. I had a vague idea for what I wanted and Bre did such an amazing job bringing it to life!

10/10 recommend Christa, she has slayed 4 pieces for me in the last few months & we are now in the works of going for a full sleeve! Her attention to detail, compassion, love for art and the quality time she spends with each client is unmatchable.

My wife and I arrived at noon on Saturday and were told that they’d be ready for us at about 3 PM. This was expected based on the phone conversations that we had earlier in the week, we just wanted to let them know that we had arrived in town. At about 3 we headed back over and were told they were a little behind and told they’d need about 45 more minutes. We were hungry, so happily obliged. After grabbing something to eat, we walked back over and were told to have a seat and fill out the waivers. We again showed the woman at the front desk what we were having done and she confirmed who our artists would be. After sitting for another 90 minutes and watching several people walk in and out,I was a bit confused but still excited. Flash forward ANOTHER 30 minutes, then another, and someone finally came to talk to us (one of our expected artists, after he referred to us as “the old couple on the couch”). We talked to him for a few minutes then he goes, “yeah, I don’t really like doing that kinda stuff, I will but it probably won’t be that good.” A bit confused, I asked “what about the other one?”, and he just says, “I don’t know.” and walks away. We were both just trying to figure out what was going and sat back down. Finally, a few minutes later the woman at the front desk comes back, so we ask her what was happening and she says, “I don’t know, I’ll drop your picture in our group chat and see if someone wants to do it some other day.” Mind you, we sent the pictures of what we wanted on Wednesday and confirmed with a call on Thursday. I am sure that they are extremely talented individuals but unfortunately, after speaking to them on both Wednesday and Thursday, then driving two hours, we did not get to find out. We honestly would have understood that things happen sometimes and certainly don’t care about being called old (we are 40, which was about 15 years older than anyone else in there, after all)… but leaving us sitting there until 6:30 before bothering to tell us that they couldn’t do it just seemed a bit much, especially since the word “sorry” was not said once.

Did a Walk-In with JW and he was absolutely the best to work with…. So kind, takes his time to make sure you are happy with the placement and his work is top notch.. I will definitely be working with JW the next time I’m in town.

Amazing vibes, friendly people, and the tattoo I got from Lew turned out amazing. Highly recommend!! There are so many talented artists here who do incredible work.

Awesome tattoo parlor. I had three very simple, small tattoos and wanted to get something bigger and fancier. After researching artists and parlors in the StL area for months I decided to book with Kali. I’m so glad that I did. She is an amazing artist and super friendly; she made me feel totally at ease throughout the process and I couldn’t be happier with my new ink.The parlor itself is super nice, too. Very clean and tidy with attractive decorations and a lot of open space and light. They play music at just the right volume that you have something to listen to while getting your art done but not so loud that it’s overwhelming. It’s a comfortable place to be, which I think is pretty important when you’re getting stuck repeatedly with needles.

I got a tattoo done by Chelsea and she was amazing! You could tell she was very passionate for what she does and she did did a fantastic job. I will most likely being going back for my next one! The whole staff was super nice and it’s a very cute, clean, professional looking shop!

The experience was awesome and the artists were super friendly especially my artist Nick who did my cover up (still in progress finishing) came in from Grand Rapids, Michigan. The shop had nice vibes and clean as well. I will definitely go back for future appointments.

All the artists I interacted with were friendly and professional. Cody created and tattooed my favorite piece and he was so down to earth. Honestly the best experience Ive had in a tattoo shop ever. Their merch is also really cool. Will definitely be going back.

What a fabulous shop. The ease of giving Chelsea an idea and she brings it to life! I’m no artist and I am so comfortable saying “I’d like Xxxx” and she truly brings my ideas to life. The beauty of it all is beyond amazing. The new piercer, Allen is fabulous. Same with him, I had an idea of what I wanted, he made suggestion and BAM, I had new piercings that I love! Everyone is friendly, makes you feel comfortable and all artists are confident in their work. Each of them have beautiful pictures of completed work allowing you to view their art. I have never been happier than when I leave with new ink!! Friendly atmosphere where everyone says hello and engages you in conversation! Totally Love this shop and the fabulous artists.

I had the half-sleeve on my right shoulder done at Earth Alchemy. I came in with an idea, and Chelsea made it unique and tattoo-able while being faithful to my idea. Asking for my input to ensure she best captured the image in my head. The staff is approachable and some of the best conversationalists Ive ever met. Their welcoming and friendly demeanor makes Earth Alchemy Tattoo Collective my favorite tattoo shop. Having moved to Vermont, its hard for me to get back, but when I am in St. Louis, they are a must.

I found them on Instagram and decided to get my first tattoo there. I, at first, went in there to get an estimate on how much the tattoo would be but one of the tattoo artist, Cody, started sketch out the tattoo for me. He was polite and funny and very welcoming as I showed and talked to him about what I wanted. Cody had time and I got my tattoo without an appointment. I was so amazed on how calming Cody was and even though I was squirming he was very relaxed and made the experience amazing. I will definitely come back and 10/ 10 would recommend.

Alchemy tattoo collective is the bees knees 🐝I’ve gone twice for appointments with Nikki and every time she kills it 🙌🏼 First round was microblading and when I came back we did a round of tattoo on my brows as well. She’s witty and fun and just all around a joy to be around while doing her brow thing ! 100% would recommend coming to the shop for tattoo and microblading needs 😍

Had a pretty badly misinformed first tattoo experience here.Its taken over a year with another artist to achieve (and fix) the tattoo that I originally intended to get here.After my outline was done, I never came back. Every adjustment was worse and worse. The alterations warped my concept so much, I knew I had to go somewhere else. I had consulted other places after my time here and they were all confused about the advice/options I was given to to make it work.Bizzare, bizzare experience, I will never recommend to anyone.
