I’ve been going to Black Pearl for over 20 years & have always received top notch service. As soon my kids were of age, the 1st thing they wanted was a tattoo & everyone made sure it was something meaningful that they wouldn’t regret later in life. Anytime anyone wants a recommendation I send them there because it’s about more than making a profit, they truly care about the customer.

My son had an appointment there today for his first tattoo for his birthday. The appointment was booked weeks ago. We arrived at the establishment and they were closed. I called an texted and there was no response. My son was very disappointed and I am ferrous because this was his only birthday wish. He has made me proud of his grades in school and is on the right track without getting in any trouble. This is one of the reasons why I dont support black businesses.

I got a nose piercing on my left side and soon after I began getting keloids on it eventually I got a nose hoop and i began hurting every time I moved it I went up there to get it removed the piercer then yanked the ring out of the nose this left me a big keloid on my nose which won’t go away i got my nose pierced on the other side but now it’s been two months and it’s still causing me pain I was told my nose piercing was going to be free by the piercer but soon as I offered to get my girlfriend a belly ring which is now infected I was charged for both

I was a tattoo artist there from 93 to 05.....that has always been one of the top black owned tattoo galleries in the state!!!!! Wassup Ro...my brother from another mother! All LOVE

They have a really great atmosphere. They are really nice. I went there for a touch up for a tattoo they didnt do and I only spent 40 bucks. Either way, they are willing to work with you so I think its a great deal. Either way Im definitely going back there again. Also they only take cash. No cards. They do have an ATM in there, but I prefer you have cash ready in general if you dont want to pay a $3 fee

Pierced my nose without asking if I wanted it there. I thought she was going to mark my nosed and she pierced it in a crazy spot.

OMG I went in for a consultation and came out with my nipples pierced. The staff was so nice and professional. My piercer took the time to explain the procedure before I decided to get them done. She was very patient with me. I would definitely go back to her again.

My family has been going to Black pearl for a long while now, I had 3 out of four tattoos then I even got my 4th one fixed at Black pearl. Theyre very funny and nice. A great vibe in there every time I walk in the door. Ive never fallen in love with a tattoo as much as the one I got today. Once the man finished my tattoo I balled my eyes out with happy tears. It truly did feel as my puppy was right beside me🥹🥰.This place really is AWESOME!!!! Im so just gonna be like the family and keep coming back 😁❤️

My nose piercing experience was phenomenal! I consulted with the owner prior to my visit, and was educated thoroughly. After my piercing, the owner told me that he would assist with any future questions and or concerns. One week later, I took him up on his offer...the responses rendered were prompt, clear, and concise! GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE is everything!

What I great experience! Brought my daughter in for 2 piercings. Called the shop before hand to try and get a feel for the wait time,I was told 20-30 minutes depending on how many people were in front of us. Arrived shortly after and was helped immediately walked through the paperwork and had her in the seat within 10 minutes, 10 minutes later we were walking out the door with a satisfied teenager. Would recommend 10/10

So I did a thing. I got my nose pierced. Tracey (I think) was so gentle. It did not hurt at all. She marked my nose so I could see where I wanted it. And literally less than a minute after I sat down she was done. She went over the aftercare instructions and I was done. There was a wait after I paid, but it wasn’t long and the tattoo shop was busy. I walked in after 3 pm. Everyone there was friendly and professional. She mentioned it was a family business. I’m going back soon for my daith.

I visited STL from out of town and was staying at the union station hotel. This shop was within walking distance and when I called to inquire about coming in, the owner answered the phone and was super nice and friendly. I loved that this shop is family owned and operated. The artists were very friendly and accommodated our requests. My friend and I both love our tattoos! The atmosphere was welcoming, the shop was clean. Robert was my artist and he did a fantastic job, worked quickly, and his line work was exquisite. I 100% recommended this shop and I will be traveling back to visit this shop for my next Lord of the Rings tattoo. If you skip this shop you are missing out!

Got my nips done here and it was so unprofessional & unsanitary. not only that but the piercer, pierced them too deep. which now a week later i have to take them out due to rejection. would not recommend coming here for any piercing.

I have upcoming surgery and needed to remove all metal. Had a post earring that has been in for years and could not, with all efforts get it removed. A very kind, gentle young man had success removing it, being all so very gentle with my sore, earlobe from previous efforts. Thank you for your kindness!

Have gotten about five piercings from here in the past year and i’ve been satisfied with every one! just went in a few weeks ago to get my nipples done and it was so fast and the piercer matched my vibe and kept me calm,and they are healing amazing.also took my friend here for his ear piercing too(first piercing ever) and it was a good experience! the prices are so goodmost def will be coming back for more and tattoos in the future. appreciate y’all.

Took my daughter to get her first tattoo and the staff was amazing. We did have a little wait on our hands but it was worth it. Staff made sure we were comfortable and kept us informed. Prices are fair music a little loud but tolerable. Will be returning in the future

I got a nose piercing by the lady and recv’d no after care directions, unprofessional. I then called a handful of times to find out what gauge I was pierced with and always received a recording to text a number. I have texted multiple times and received no reply. I wouldn’t go here for piercing, because it seems like I can’t get an answer!!!!!!!Edit: no your response wasn’t helpful, because I still have no idea what gauge was used and you skipped right over that question.

Piercing were fine. Very cheap but not professional. They didnt take our ids or have us sign anything. Didnt tell us how to take care of them. Or show is they jewelry before hand. The guy who did the piercings was nice but everyone else seemed like they were purposely avoid looking in our direction. Very much got the cold shoulder. Licenses were up on the wall and everything was clean and new. Cleanliness and safety were great.Cheap decent place for the basics.

Gave the woman piercer another shot after messing up both my tragus and my vertical hood a year ago...Today This chick literally pulled a ruler out and stuck it on my mf tongue!That is the most unprofessional piercer yet...She messed up the double tongue ring 3 times! Thats 6 trisd she would of made crocked...And she wanted me to pay 50 for that to try to make me happy cause she messed up my hood and both my tragus..What a quack

NEVER GO HERE AGAIN SO UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! I originally came here to get my nose pierced Me and my friend, so it fell out and I had to get it redone but the lady who redid mine was VERY ROUGH AND RUDE and was shoving in the piercing into the hole for 30 seconds before finally just redoing it. After it was done fast forward a month to today, I woke up to it falling out AGAIN and I know it’s not rejecting because I clean it twice a day so I find it a “coincidence” I have to get it repierced AGAIN. Also, my friends piercing ALSO fell out and got infected and she got hers done by the same person I did. Long story short We’re VERY DISPLEASED and would never recommend them to anyone.

Got my daith and rook done here! Very reasonable prices. The piercer was great he went right into it and didnt make me feel nervous or anything. A couple days after one of the rook ball backing fell off and they were able to get me in and fix it! I will definitely be back for more piercings!

People have a lt of things to say about this place...BUT I LOVE THEM!!! I AM 42 BEEN GOING TO THIS PLACE SINCE I WAS A TEENAGER. When I do go from time to time they always have improved and updated their area they always have a nice amount of people getting work done it has been remodeled again and looks fly I appreciate the honesty and the consideration that I was shown Rollin did not do all my tattoo work but the one who did was awesome as well. Got a double nose piercing today and the two girls were awesome. One did my piercing while the other girl was telling me when to inhale and exhale. I was scared it was gonna hurt so bad but they made my experience a excellent one. I would highly recommend. I was in and out. No waiting for my piercing but it was 3 people waiting to get a tattoo on a Wednesday evening.

I go there to get all of my tattoos. Just went back today & got matching tattoos with my mom. I love them. They did my belly piercing about a few weeks ago & did a great job. Healing well. I recommend them. They are great with prices as well.

I went to them recently. I was not impressed at all by the staff. They were very unprofessional. Thier work stations were close to nonexistent. The boy who did my piercing was caring but very young. He has potential for a great career with more experience and better environment.

The only place I would get a piercing in St. Louis. Everywhere else is way to over priced, black Pearl is a lot cheaper and very professional. I struggle to change my piercings myself any issues I have I can go up there and they will help me out. I have got 4 piercings from them and they were all worth it! They always accommodate to me and my friends and I would highly recommend!

Rather disappointed with the outcome....My goal was to patronize the highly rated minority owed business in the St. Louis community. For $150 an hour and a hour long wait after an appointment I’ll NEVER return. Sadden to say but I’m pretty confident they don’t care at all.Wish I could display pictures so u can see what I see

I went in with two of my cousins and my aunt to get our noses pierced! We were all in, pierced, out, and taking selfies outside the shop within 15 minutes! Tracey was great especially considering I was the most nervous of the group!

I went to get a nose piercing and it was very unprofessional. The woman who did my piercing didn’t ask if I was ready or where I wanted the piercing located. She basically just did it as soon as I sat down. She didn’t give any info on the up keep at all. Definitely don’t go here for piercings.

They did a cheek piercing on my girlfriend. At first it was swollen. And I thought it had gotten infected. But it has healed up, and after its all said and done its going to look beautiful.This is a very well run and the employee are great.

So I was visiting from SC. Im 40 years old. NEVER had a tattoo in my life! I faced my fears and got a special tattoo done by Ro. He was AMAZING! Made me feel at ease and as comfortable as he could!The rest of the staff was very hospitable and informitable as well! And my tattoo, well I can say that I am BEYOND satisfied ! Im coming back with my girls soon to get more! Thank you SO MUCH!💕

Rude and ghetto staff. The entire experience was pitiful. The artist DEEPLY scarred my arm and when I came back for a refund the owner screamed at me. This place boasts about being black owned but they dont care about the quality of the artwork or the customers. 4 months after my botched tattoo and i am now looking for laser removal surgery since my arm wont heal and is still in GREAT PAIN

I paid $200 for a tattoo that I didn’t want. It didn’t include shading nor did it include the original color I was supposed to get. The tattoo took less than thirty minutes to complete and I paid $200 for an OUTLINE DRAWING. When I mentioned getting money back and renegotiate of pricing they completely dismissed me and said the waste of product (red paint) was to blame but the product was never used on me! I am extremely disappointed with my services and how it was handled. I will NEVER be going here or recommending this shop AGAIN! EDIT: As the tattoo healed it revealed the artist cut me too deep and I have scarring on my tatto as a result of it.

My friend && I went to get our naval pierced. Atmosphere was nice, but when he went to pierce mine he had way too much solution (or whatever they use) covering his gloves, resulting in the piercing being crooked and pretty close to the surface. I ultimately had to remove the piercing as my body rejected it.

I got Marcus as our tattooist. He did a wonderful job on our name tattoos! I enjoyed the lay back atmosphere. They made me feel welcome. I will go back for my next tattoo.

If I could rate this a zero I would. I got my navel pierced here and as soon as I left I knew something was wrong. I went to a reputable shop and they explained that it wasn’t pierced correctly which led to an infection and a scar. Good work isn’t cheap. Please do your body a favor and spend the extra money for quality.

Most amazing people! By far the best tattoo shop I’ve ever visited so much so that I had to give a review and I don’t usually do that. It’s a family run tattoo shop and I felt like family myself! Not to mention my 5 hour tattoo was AMAZINGLY PRICED!!! It covers my entire upper leg! I’d drive 14 hours everytime just to be around these people one more time! Ro! Ro Jr. and Mrs. Tracy!!! Lol 🥰😍

Prices change depending on who you talk to about it. Got a piercing there not to long ago( first one other than my ears). The man who did it didnt ask if this was my first one so hell know how to go about the situation. I almost blacked out and not once was i asked was I ok and how I felt. I also didnt recieve any cleaning information for my nose. I had to ask how. All tattoo shop give you information on how to clean it. Well all the ones I been to.

Today my Bestfriend, Besties sister and I went in today and all got tattoos💯 Clean needles, EXCELLENT customer service, and relaxing environment 💯they will most definitely be doing my future tattoos 🤟🏾I now have 3 done by them. Family owned business and great place to go.

Pierced me 3 times without having a parent, told me as long as i have one piercing i can get pierced. so i brought my friend from an hour away and they wanted to not pierce her because “it’s a crime” but have already pierced me 3 times without consent. JAIL

If I could leave less stars I would. Unprofessional atmosphere, they didnt ID me nor have me sign a waiver, the piercer was RUDE and didnt know what she was doing cause she stuck the needle in, told me she did it wrong and had to stick me AGAIN, bled like a pig, not sure she even used the right piercing equipment and as I was trying to take my breath, recover and get the bleeding under control they kept trying to rush me out the shop. Then, the stud sunk down into the piercing, cause they used one way too small. DO NOT COME HERE FOR PIERCINGS.

Family business and always operates at high capacity with out-of-the-way designs and designers. Prices are reputable and comparable to all but located right next to new soccer stadium so go get your nee MSL Team tattoos

Had a hood piercing done here by a young guy about a year ago. It bled like crazy due to him accidently piercing my actual clit. called and was told that they could redo it with no problem. Almost the same thing happened again after I let swelling go down, plus the ring came out. i was in so much pain, i ended up going to doctors for antibiotics.

Oh my goodness I discovered this place today for some much needed ink/piercing therapy lol, everyone in there was so warm and welcoming! I went in with the intention of getting one piercing and left with two and sunglasses!! 5 starts all the way!!

Got a celtic cross with script rapped around on my upper arm and shoulder. Was done in about an hour and a half. Did good except the lower cross 1 side is disportinal to the other?! And their are parts unshaded/missed. I also feel is was over priced at 300

They do such Horrible jobs with tattoos .just got a tattoo on my hand side of hand within 4 days it starts to disappear I couldnt believe it am like Hold on a minute .Am I seeing what am seeing .Yes Better believe it my tattoo was disappearing like I never got the tattoo done in the first place . I washed my hands after I use the bathroom and the dry my hands and the ink even more disappearing . I repeat never ever in your life go there they are horrible tattoo artist and got the nerves to charge u a high price like 20 or 35 for horrible jobs . I dont understand why they are in business ...Needs to shut down they really suck
