Black Coffin Tattoo

I just wanted to give a huge shout out to Black Coffin’s piercing team. I was pierced by Sarah, and Mara came in on her off day to help mentor because I have not your typical anatomy for a philtrum piercing. It was really cool seeing the two work together, and seeing how excited both of them were that Sarah kicked ass. Black Coffin’s new piercers are both so enjoyable to be around, and I will be back! Thank you both for the care and time you took to flawlessly execute a piercing I have been turned down for in the past. I love it ♥️♥️♥️ Oh, and the shop manager is a cool guy, and has the best recommendations for horror books if you’re into that!

The shop is neat. The artists are nice. However, the work that I got done, is horrible. I came in for a pretty simple design. My husband and I got matching tattoos, that dont match at all. I specifically asked for my tattoo to be full color. Its not. I asked for specific colors which were not used. Colors outside of the outline. Thick and thin lines. Blowouts.We then went back in for a touch up. The same colors were not used the first time, so what was touched up, is mismatched in color. I also then discovered more places where he, again, colored outside of the outline. The artist seemed highly offended when I brought this up. Blamed it on my skin. Mind you, Im covered in tattoos.If youre looking for quick, overpriced work, that you will be paying another shop to fix, this is the place to go.If youre looking for quality work, go elsewhere.His excuse was the UV ink, which was barely used in my tattoo, and the fact that he has a disability.If your disability effects your ability to do quality tattoos, then you simply shouldnt be tattooing.**Will post updated pictures after its healed.. I will also post a picture where the uv was used directly**

Everything about my experience with this shop was pleasant. The front desk gal is extremely personable, friendly and helpful. My artist was Jess and she did a thorough job with placement and gave me a great tattoo. Ill definitely be returning!

Absolutely fabulous experience. Jake was our tattooist and he turned our best friend tattoos into something absolutely perfect. We came in as walk-ins and were treated fabulously from the moment we stepped in, to the moment we left. We would love to come back sometime. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Amazing place. All of the artists that I looked at are incredibly talented. Nik did my celtic harp and Saint Patrick tattoo and Ive had countless people approach me and compliment my forearm piece and ask who the artist is and where he works. I will most definitely be back to get more work done by Nik!!! The atmosphere of the shop is very welcoming and warm.

My experience on May 29th 2021My fearless daughter wanted a Industrial piercing.After doing some research she found Black Coffin Tattoo.We were able to get an appointment the same day about 4 hours later.When we arrived we were greeted at the door given some paperwork because she is a minor. Our temperatures were taken and we filled out some consent and waiver of rights forms on one of the I pad stations.Music was a normal level there was only two other people waiting at the time that we were there the place was very clean and well lit.While we waited we checked out all of the cool art on the walls and the black coffin with QR code’s with all of the artist portfolios.The Artist Thomas W. aka The piercing Pirate who performed the piercing came out to the waiting room and greeted us. He talked about her options and also gave her a choice of changing the piercing color by using electrical current.This was a surprise to my daughter she didn’t know that she had that option before she came and this made her very happy.After choosing the color she wanted Thomas disappeared to make that a reality came back to show us the bar and then he went to sanitize the room and all of the implements this took about about 10 minutes. The piercing procedure from start to finish lasted less than 10 minutes. Thomas explained every step along the way from marking her ear and letting her see how it will look to showing her how the piercing actually would be installed. I would say the price was moderate. He took his time after the piercing to explain care Thomas gave her aftercare solution directions on home care and a brochure to read.He provided us with his business card and told us to give him a call if we had any questions or concerns. Took my travel companion here for two tattoos. Place is pretty cool looking and easy to find. The people were super friendly. Tattoos arent for me but I appreciate the art and the people who provide the service.

Four of us came in to get some small tattoos as a fun, impromptu tribute for our family reunion. The shop was super accommodating. Asked us to give them a call in the morning to double check availability. They were able to get us all in at the same time with different artists, which was awesome. Ivy did great work for me as the minimalist line work is something she does and enjoys. It showed! The tattoo was clean and exactly what I wanted. Jake did my partner’s tattoo and it was also clean. Great experience and would definitely recommend!

I went with some friends to support them as they got some new tattoos, and the experience was great! The facility is very nice and clean, with a great macabre vibe mixed with little humor and a lot of personality. We were able to come in, get a preselected design sized and inked in under an hour!

Extremely friendly staff, great shop to look around at, and Garrett is phenomenal! He did an incredible job with an armadillo piece I wanted done. It turned out so much better than I could have imagined. Loved his honesty with placement, size, etc with my tattoo. And so friendly and overall a great person! Met with Erik for my left arm. Ive had work done with many artists across country, but Erik was by far my best experience. Everybody at coffin was so chill and nice and I would honestly get more work done just for the vibes. My new go-to place

Super cool place that handles tattooing very professionally. While the environment is dark and intense, the workers and artists are extremely helpful, friendly, and professional. Highly recommend for anyone getting a first tattoo or adding to a collection!

Out of all the tattoo shops I’ve been to over the years, coast to coast and everywhere in between, Black Coffin has been the best experience ever. From the time I called in to the time I walked out, every single interaction was overwhelmingly positive— the artists were all super-friendly (to me, to other clients, to each other, to people on the phone and in the waiting area) and they all seemed genuinely happy to be there and supportive of each other’s work, which is definitely not always the case. There was so much to look at in the shop, and the tattoo area was scrupulously clean.But it could be a trash heap run by a bunch of cave trolls and I’d be lining up to have Leyla work on me again. She said she favors heavy blackwork but the piece she did on my wrist (Lorna Shore’s sigil) was tiny, meticulous, detailed, and by far the cleanest, clearest linework I have. She was unbelievably thorough, careful, super-gentle, and quick, and while her pricing was quite modest, I’d gladly have paid double. I’ll be returning to Leyla for sure and based on other reviews, my experience seems to be the case for pretty much everyone’s experience with every artist there. Well done, Black Coffin, you know how to do it right. Leyla, your work is beautiful— thank you so much!Edit 1/2/2024: I’ve been meaning to do this for two months now but Leyla’s got some competition from Nik as favorite artist ever. He did a rework of multiple unsatisfactory reworks and needless to say, this is the last. I’m beyond thrilled. Have to say, I was a little nervous initially since all he did was stand back in his miner’s headlamp surveying the damage before making a few cursory Sharpie lines and then diving right in, but I needn’t have worried. Nik is a master. His lines are clean and precise, his shading is spot-on realistic, and he redesigned the whole thing so the focal point is the twisted tree (which somehow three previous artists were unable to do).Additionally, he kept going basically nonstop til the piece was finished, kept up a pleasant, engaging conversation the entire time, and moreover showed himself to be a fantastic and patient teacher/mentor- I’d actually reached out to Leyla first but she referred me to Nik since he’s done reworks before (which, the fact that she wanted me to be happy with the tattoo even if it meant passing on a client she wasn’t 100% sure she could “fix” made me appreciate her even more!) and he let her watch, learn, and practice as he explained his procedures and tips/techniques.In short, Nik and Leyla are absolutely phenomenal artists, both individually and working in tandem, and I cannot thank nor recommend them highly enough. Happy New Year, you guys, you’re freaking amazing and I can’t wait to get back in there for another round!

Leyla touched up/fixed a portion of an older tattoo that has been bothering me for 14 years...and it looks beautiful. ❤️💜❤️ Her kindness and professionalism put me right at ease. Showed up here for a consultation. Waited for 30 minutes after being seated. And when we attempted to tell them were going to leave. No one approached the cashier area.Customer service is not great here.Probably call in advance if someone will be on time for appointments.

Jes Raadt is/ was my Tattoo Artist. Just look how sharp her lines are, fluid the curves, solid the black, clean and balanced everything is. ABSOLUTE PERFECTION, IMAO!!! Extremely happy with her, my tat, my first visit here at this shop... Ive had a few other tats from other artists elsewhere, but from now on this is my One Stop Shop! First time in The Black Coffin and ONLY back to The Black Coffin I go!!!

Had a great experience with Ivy getting my first tattoo on my inner forearm. Her linework was so crisp and clean, and she did a great job explaining everything.I plan to be back in the coming months to add some more complex ones with her, and some other artists whos work I enjoyed also!

I can see why ratings are so good! 23 and received my first two tatts... came out perfect 💯 Luckily I got tatted by the very person who owns the place, garret 😎 We talked the whole time and he really helped make it less painful with giving tips while in the works. The apprentice is really sweet with dope tatts 🤩 most from this spot! Got tattooed by Dee on 9/2/23. She did an amazing job!! Dee was very professional, friendly and just super dope all around. I was so nervous going into my appointment having not been tattooed in like 10 years but once I sat down and started chatting, all my nerves went away. I felt like I was sitting with a childhood friend or something I was so comfortable. I have nothing but good things to say about Black Coffin Tattoo and the crew there from the front desk guy to my artist Dee. Went and got tattooed today by Ivy. She is very detail oriented and made sure that the design she made fit the style of tattoo I wanted and even suggested a few cool changes to it. This was only my second tattoo so I dont have a lot of experience with tattoos or tattoo artists but she made me feel comfortable and accommodated when I needed breaks (I dont sit still very well lol). The end result was absolutely beautiful and I cant wait to see what it looks like healed! Thank you again, I plan to be back very soon :)

Got my septum pierced a few weeks ago by Thomas. Perfect placement, very sanitary. Would recommend. Healed nicely, was able to replace the jewelry yesterday!

Got my first tattoo here. I walked in with no appointment and asked to get a tattoo. The staff were super nice and even gave me tea while I waited! My tattoo artist was Jake, who was super helpful and managed to take the impractical reference image I provided and turned it into something workable. He did an amazing job, especially with blending the colors.10/10, would recommend and will be returning!

Came in for a few piercings with thomas! i felt so welcomed by the staff i met in the shop and immediately felt comfortable! i was super nervous going into it but felt relaxed after everything was thoroughly explained! i felt confident with my new piercings and will definitely be back to black coffin for more piercings and tattoos next time!

My daughter and I got our noses pierced by Thomas and he did an excellent job! Very professional while being extremely personable. He made sure we were well informed, and calmed my daughters nerves as much as possible because its her first piercing. Great experience and great artist. We definitely chose the right establishment!

Just got my second tattoo here. They really go out of their way to make you feel safe (you know, because Covid is still a thing) and comfortable. All the people here are great and talented artist, but I want to give a special shout out to Garrett for nerding out with me while I got this awesome Boba Fett tattoo.

He helped me troubleshoot a piercing thats been bothering me for over a year, patiently offered me plenty of options and had a sense of humor that helped put me at ease. I couldnt be more grateful! James Severson is an efficient, gentle, and clean artist. My tattoo healed super fast and looks like a sticker it is so clean. He took the time to place it perfectly. The design process was easy and the outcome was even better than what I had envisioned. If his book is your style, I would recommend giving him creative freedom because he is clearly a talented artist.

Called ahead for a walk in inquiry. Was able to get my first tattoos with Ryan. I brought in prints of my dogs paw and nose, we talked through placements and got them done. Great first experience. Ryan did an amazing job and made me feel comfortable the entire time. He checked in, often to make sure I was doing ok, throughout. Didnt get a good picture of the 2nd print before putting the dressing on (Will update later). I will definitely come back for more in the future. THANK YOU!

Thomas is an extremely knowledgeable piercer who placed my dahlias perfectly, and was able to give me some reassurance regarding migration during the healing process. He was very willing to be flexible and keep my thoughts in mind. Overall an extremely positive experience, and Ill definitely be back again. Heres to what will hopefully be an easy healing process!

We had an amazing time getting best friend tattoos with Hunter!! Everyone was so welcoming, and they made sure we knew any design changes or stencil moves were totally okay. The vibes were phenomenal for any horror fan, youll have great people to talk to while you get inked.

I LOVE Black Coffin Tattoo! I’ve gotten all but one of my tattoos done here and I can’t imagine going anywhere else. It’s a super rad and clean atmosphere and their prices are extremely reasonable.

I had my nose pierced a year ago by a girl who isnt there anymore. She was very nice & patient while i was picking where i wanted the piercing. After a week of having the stud, it unscrewed and i lost it, but she let me come back and replaced it for free, which was really nice. I waited the recommended amount of time to come back and have it switched to a hoop which was my end goal with the piercing. She didnt work there anymore at this point and a guy was switching it out which was fine. after putting it in i immediately expressed to him that the ring felt small/tight. He didnt agree. I could feel the tugging on my nostril. I tried to convince myself it wasnt. I went back out to my car, looked closer, and it definitely felt tight. I went back in, and he said they only offered one size of nose rings (??). I told him how it felt tight and it was tugging and he said it looked fine, and because i could still spin it it was okay. So I again tried to convince myself it was okay, because he said so and maybe id get used to it. Fast forward months and ive had numerous infections, and it migrated from the spot it was originally pierced because of how small the ring was. I should have went back and had it switched out for the stud again, but I tried to tough it out thinking it was me. I eventually switched it back to the stud and any swelling and inflammation went away. It felt great, but it definitely moved from the spot that it was originally pierced in which is really really disappointing. Not everyones nose is the same shape/size, and i really wish id trusted my gut and just had him switch it back to the stud and gone elsewhere for the ring (as i found out other piercing shops offer multiple sizes and even measure for it). I guess im just disappointed I spent money on something I wanted for a long time only for it to be a waste, and now ill have to wait for it to heal before getting it repierced.

This was my first ever tattoo and I couldnt be happier! Nick is a great artist and explained everything very well. Id definitely go back if I decide I want another tattoo!

I got a tattoo here 8 months ago and it’s my favorite. I absolutely love it. The only issue I have is with the tattoo artists customer service. I’ve talked to a few different artists from here and they’ve all had that same issue so far.

Never been here but the artists are awesome. I met them at a convention and Rotten Ronnie is dope. Get your ears done by her. Dope 5 stars.

Marz! Awesome piercer! Went in yesterday feeling pretty random, walked out with a tragus piercing and a new Monroe stud. First of all, this shop in general is awesome. It essentially doubles as a wicked cool oddities museum. Besides that, the service is OUTSTANDING. I used to go to Saint Sabrinas when they were still around and this place blows them out of the water. Now, on to Marz! I have never had a more knowledgeable or patient piercer. The fact that she listened to me hiiim and haaa for what felt like forever is not something youre going to find in many places. The piercing itself went SO well. It feels like its basically healed already. She walked me through each step of the way. she called out each move she was making as she was doing them so that I stayed comfortable, that takes skill. All while delivering me a perfect placed piercing. She also set me up with a new Monroe stud. I had been wearing the wrong size for years and Im now finally comfortable and like my jewelry. Highly recommend Marz! I also had the pleasure of meeting one of the tattoo artists, Garrett. Super cool guy. My friend got a tattoo yesterday and it turned incredible. Seriously, check this guys work out. Ive never seen someone be able to make a Raven look more lifelike than the actual bird, like whaaaat. Wish I grabbed the receptionist guys name too cause he was SO friendly and accommodating.Ill be back! Thank you!

This is the best tattoo place in the twin cities. They have such a wide variety of artists that they are able to offer many different styles. Garrett is thoughtful and kind and really compassionate with all of his clients and his employees reflect those values as well. I really love collecting my tattoos here and also recently was pierced by Tom after over 10 years of not getting any piercings. I was so nervous but he was so professional and calm is made me feel safe and taken care of.

Decide last minute to get matching tattoos for my daughter and myself. I emailed Black Coffin and received a response immediately.I was told on short notice it would be better to come as a walk in. We arrived the next morning as they were opening. We were greeted by a very sweet young lady. After telling her what I wanted, she webt to theback to speak with the artists. A very nice young man,John, came and spoke with us. John drew out the tattoo, made sure it was what we wanted. John tattoed both of us. I would highly recommend John and the Black Coffin

Friendly staff but poor communication skills. My small forearm tattoo that I got in December 2022 didn’t turn out well (the black lines looked faded and incomplete although it’s brand new) and I was promised a free touch up. I reached out in mid January 2023 to get my tattoo touched up and waited weeks for responses from my original artist. Once he finally responded and I was directed to another artist, she responded once and then I never heard from her even after several follow up emails. I wanted to get my tattoo touched up before I moved out of state in April 2023 so I thought 3.5 months would be enough time to get something scheduled. Very disappointed with my experience here and now won’t get the free touch up I was promised

Love this place! Everyone Ive met from here is super professional and chill, lots of great artists.Got a piercing (facial micro dermal) off Thomas White yesterday. He made me feel comfortable, explained the procedure well, and made sure he had consent for everything along the way. It was quick and painless, would recommend!

I’ve been pierced at a few different places before this one, but after getting pierced here i don’t think I’ll ever go anywhere else. The Thomas and Kelsie are incredibly nice and professional and have great bedside manner (which is important to me specifically because I’m a big baby about needles and am always super nervous). The information they give about aftercare is always super helpful and they really know their stuff. Great place to get pierced.

Cody Rose at Black Coffin is an excellent artist! I got my first tattoo here and she made me feel comfortable and took the time to walk me through the process. This place has a laid-back atmosphere and everyone I talked to was nice. They are very sanitary and take everyones health seriously, especially during the pandemic, even checking in after the tattoo to make sure I was doing okay. I feel the price she charges is very reasonable for the quality of work you are getting. I will be getting more work here!

I connected with Garrett around the start of the Coronapocalypse and have been happy at every step. He is a master of his craft and customer service pro. He wowed me with a cover-up and Im continuing to re-book with him after each session. Ive always felt comfortable with the cleanliness and safety of the facility and staff. Everyone seems incredibly talented, plus many have their own unique styles, so its not all spooky ink all the time. (Although they do that well, too!) Its a fantastic shop. Id enthusiastically recommend Black Coffin to anyone who asks.

Johnny did an amazing job with my piece, and was overall a great dude. Even though I worked with just him, I could tell the whole crew at Black Coffin vibes together well, and they create such a welcoming atmosphere. I know Ill be back!

Been here twice (shoutout Andy and Ivy Raine!) some of the best experiences I’ve had! Amazing atmosphere, fantastic staff and artists. Clean, organized, and awesome decor as a bonus. The people there are so personable and friendly, aswell as talented! Love you guys and loved our tattoos!

Went in on a walk-in basis and was helped by Kelly! I got a small tattoo on my finger and he did really well! He was super patient and very helpful. One of the friendliest people who’ve ever tattooed me! He was very open to what I wanted and was able to make it exactly how I wanted it. The entire shop was amazing- the inside is by far one of the coolest I’ve seen. From what I saw with other artists, all of their customers were happy with them. I definitely suggest going here whether it’s a walk-in or appointment. Definitely true to their amazing reputation!

I was very happy with the way the shop was set up. Really nice lighting and everyone seems nice and Erik did a great job with my tattoo. Only took 3 hours and I figured it would have been about 4 so very positive experience.

Highly recommend.My friends and I got piercings (lobes, conch, and helix) and we all had wonderful experiences. We thankfully got to go in together and the person was super nice. He listened to what we wanted and made adjustments as we wanted. Took his time. Walked us through each step and even joked around with us. I 1000% plan on returning in the future. Ive been here before to get tattooed and had a great experience. I just recently got my nose pierced and Thomas White is really nice, showed me respect and was having fun at the shop which made me feel that much more comfortable. I wish I could remember the front desk employee who greeted me at the door because they also made my experience at Black Coffin that much better. Im glad Thomas wasnt annoyed by me when I kept wanting to change the position of the nose piercings. They didnt make me feel like a burden which made it that much more comfortable for me. Me, my mom, and my sister got tattoos here by Ivy. We called to see if they had a walk-in appointment available after trying 2 other places that were full and they said they could get us in in 20 minutes! The atmosphere was nice and so were the employees. Ivy does very professional work and is super nice. The pricing is also very reasonable. I highly recommend getting a tattoo here!

Super friendly piercer who was accommodating! She told me she would tighten my earrings as much as possible so they are really unlikely to fall out as I’ve had issues with that before.

My original artist that did my second tattoo, opened this shop. Hes incredible at black and gray. Hes done the majority of my tattoos even though they arent his type. Garrett is amazing. He has come so far on his tattooing career and done incredibly well. The artists he hires always amaze me. He has a keen eye for art and artists that thrive.Down side parallel parking. Being from not the city I hate parallel parking but Ill put up with it for this tattoo shop always.

April 13th I began attempting to schedule my touch up. I let my artist know that I had moved since the tattoo was originally done and that I was now an hour and a half away so I needed to have a confirmed schedule.After several follow up attempts to get a reply from my artist, I finally caved in and messaged the business itself to see if I could get someone else if my artist was not available to schedule. This was now July 7th.I received my first reply from the artist within seconds of the email to the business. Seemed to me like it was an action because management found out?Anyhow, over the next several days, and days it took, I finally was provided date options but no times. When I became impatient I provided a date (that was offered) and a time. I received no confirmation until a couple of days later when I was told that time didnt work basically and that the date didnt work either!Short end of the story, this was a scheduling nightmare and I am sure it is because the touch up is a free service. Had I known that I was not going to be able to schedule an appointment after the tattoo had been paid for, I would have never gone there to begin with. Every other tattoo place I have gone to has been able to schedule (even if its months out), by calling them. Black Coffin acted like they didnt have any contact with their artists. I mean if it was gonna take 2 months just to start the conversation about scheduling, you would think that when I sent the original request, someone would have checked with the artist and asked for a good schedule time.Apparently, my time is not valuable to this place. Horrible follow through! I am so disappointed and frustrated. I will never return and I am not getting the tattoo touched up. I will keep it as is and make sure I name drop the tattoo place and the artist every tie someone askes about it, to let everyone know how horrible this situation has been.

My wife got a tattoo from Black Coffin during their Black Friday special event. The shop was extremely professional and organized the event very well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The artist Kayne Anders did a great job with the tattoo and was very professional and easy to work with. I would recommend this location to both new and experienced tattoo lovers.

The piercers here are awesome- Kelsie did my helix piercing a few weeks ago and it looks great and is healing with absolutely no problems. The staff is very friendly and helpful- I got really dizzy afterwards and they handled it well. Everything was sanitized and very clean.

Classy place! The artists are friendly, honest, and talented. Some are new, some are experienced, but all have their own area of expertise. Cody Rose did a lizard behind my ear (on the spot artwork, I LOVE it!) and is working on a larger piece for me. Shes newer, but that didnt matter or show in her work - go see her, she is worthy of more skin real estate!

We selected this business as they were able to make an appointment. Was pleased with the high level of experience and skill of the staff.However, they used iPads for filling in the Wavier Forms - and one iPad allowed you to get 90% of the form done, then it would freeze up.Finding a parking spot was a bit tricky.Also, the cost was surprisingly steep. Over 300 dollars (including a 15% tip), for two teenagers to get their 2nd holes pierced in their ears.Minus 2 stars for the pricing.

I went to get my septum piercing done on the 4th and everything was great! The shop was clean and the front of house was friendly and helpful in picking out jewelry. They use titanium and gold jewelry, which they do not include in the pricing of piercing. Pricing is reasonable and they sell saline spray or you can buy it elsewhere. Tom, the piercer, was super professional and kind. Told a friend who was interested in getting her navel pierced about this shop because it was such a great experience!

These guys are 10/10 amazing. My wife had a failed at home nose ring replacement and needed professional help; we called them up and they got us in immediately. They were so kind and welcoming, and like their sticker said, they put the fun back in funeral.

Piercers are great and nice and all, the whole process was good as well, but I guess you get what you pay for because the jewel of the stud piercing I got fell out, the jewelry is so small and cheap material. like the jewel not even the whole piercing which caused the flat back end to fall out as well. I’m kind of frustrated because I would’ve at least have liked to get it redone you know now that it’s closed up. It looked so good and I was so happy. But now I’m disappointed oh well

I was able to experience the shop outside of its home at Tattoo You Comvention and I had a blast. Garret was who I worked with and he was amazing. I was not expecting to get anything, but after a quick conversation about a shared band we liked I knew he was the one to work with. All the other artists who were there came over and he introduced me to them. I could not be happier with my experience with Garret and his team. The shop cancelled a piercing 10 minutes before the scheduled time due to staffing issues. I am curious how a customer would not be notified that their appointment is canceled until after they have checked in

Went back and got everything sterilized, walked me back and told me everything he was doing. I have been getting tattoos from Garrett for over 10 years and will not go to anyone but him or his talented team of artists. He is professional, experienced, detail orientated and runs a great shop. Black Coffin has experienced and talented artists – they are respectful, honest and really friendly. Whenever I go to the shop everyone remembers my name and makes me feel welcomed. I have over 15 tattoos from Garrett and I love every one of them – some of them are 10 years old and they still look great. Garrett can tattoo any style – I have Polynesian tribal art, all black tattoos, color and he does an amazing job with tribute/memorial tattoos. Often times I walk in with a vision or an idea and Garrett and his artists always are able to interpret what I want into exactly what I want. I will not go anywhere else and HIGHLY recommend Black Coffin!

Got my nostrils pierced by Kelsie yesterday and love how they turned out!! She made me feel very comfortable and I appreciated how careful she was to get the piercings placed and lined up perfectly.

Great place to have any tattoos or piercings done, they are all about safety and cleanliness when it comes to protecting you and themselves from getting sick. Their prices are great also. The work they do however is truly a gift that they have and they are very knowledgeable and articulate when it comes to doing great work.

We called Black Coffin and was immediately put at ease. The professionalism and kindness was top notch! They were patient and explained everything in detail to my niece. They turned a great disappointment into a memorable experience where she received her first tattoo and body piercing! We will be back!

Long story of my wild ride of getting a tattoo:I was attempting to get a tattoo done with Dee. I initially saw her work online and thought shed be great to do a floral coverup tattoo. We didnt necessarily have a consult like most places typically do to discuss wants or ask questions. Though through email we established we were going to do some flowers and they would be larger than my current tattoo. (Understandable) She specializes in black/gray work, which I thought was great, I assumed the tattoo would be black. Though this was not discussed.Ok, tattoo day. I arrived at my appointment time that morning, she was not there due to car trouble. We rescheduled for later that afternoon at 3pm. Ok cool. I did not receive any confirmation that we were still doing the appointment at 3pm, at about 2:30 so I called the shop to confirm. The person who answered said she wasnt in for the day. I stated I had an appointment at 3 and he said hed contact her. I called back maybe 10 minutes later and they said appointment was still on. Awesome. I arrive, and I browse the other tattoos as a wait. 3:30pm rolls by, I check with the front desk guy, and he says itll only be a few more minutes. 3:40 - a few more minutes. At this point Im pretty frustrated. 3:50pm, I let them know that Im going to leave. He gets Dee and she brings out the stencil. Its the flowers I requested but it didnt seem as though there was much thought put into. She said itd have to be in color to cover my black tattoo. Ive definitely seen black over black cover ups... though this was my fault for not specifying and assuming it was going to be black. I let her know I wasnt a fan. She was willing to design another tattoo or fix the one she made.At this point I was just done with every, her and the shop. She sent me an email 10 minutes later apologizing and willing to work on something else. I informed her I was not happy with having to leave work twice, and waiting almost an hour to be seen for my appointment. I requested my deposit back, or at least half since I did not get my service.This was 12/7. By 12/15 and still not getting reply. I initiated a claim through Venmo and then finally got a response about half an hour later from her, stating that 30-60 is her usual wait time to get set up. Ive gotten other tattoos and have never had such a wait. The whole experience was like pulling teeth.TL:DR: Didnt get tattoo. Long wait time. Unprofessional. Wasted deposit.

The first time I went to Black Coffin was for a jewelry change. I needed my nose ring replaced with a stud, and since Holy Mackerel has closed, I havent known where to go for piercing services. When I arrived at my appointment, there was a new piercer training so she tried to remove my 14k rose gold seamless ring, but wasnt confident after a tool slipped off of the jewelry and onto my face. The other piercer took over and swapped my jewelry.Now, about 8 months later, I wanted the ring put back in (since I have finished medical surgeries and wont need to take out jewelry) and the piercer not only scratched my rose gold nose ring with his tools but didnt close it all the way. He told me there was a little gap but it shouldnt be a problem. I trusted his judgement and didnt ask to look with a mirror. On the way home I felt the ring with my fingers and immediately noticed the scratches and sharp ends of the gap. Totally dangerous for tearing my skin and causing infection. I cant believe that the piercer would treat jewelry and a piercing like this or that the new piercer, who was watching this, didnt say anything.Made an appointment elsewhere to hopefully get these problems fixed. Hopefully the scratches can be buffed out of my ring or else I will have to replace it. Very very disappointed and upset.

I have been going to jared for my tattoos for some years now and he is absolutely amazing. The vicinity is very spacious so it makes it covid friendly. All the staff that I have encountered here has been super friendly and helpful. If you want watercolor tattoo definitely go to jared, hes a master of his craft.10/10 would come again

Tattoos are great. However, every piercing I or my friends have gotten here has ripped or healed incorrectly. I have lots of piercings, and only here have I seen any take upwards of a year to heal, or be so incredibly crooked. My best friend got a septum that was through her cartilage, which is very unprofessional and hard to do, and my navel piercing is basically completely diagonal.

REVIEW ONLY FOR KELLY. I have been trying to get a tattoo done with Kelly for almost 4 months now. The process started when I saw his stuff on TikTok, and I went to his Instagram and saw that to get something set up with him, I needed to DM him on Instagram. This was back in January, and he didn’t open my message until 2 weeks ago. Before he opened my message I was really confused why it was taking so long so I contacted black coffin, and they said to email Kelly (which I also tried) or to DM him on Instagram so not a lot of help there. So back to two weeks ago, Kelly asked what I wanted, I told him what I was thinking about, and now I’m left on read again. I understand if you’re busy and don’t have time to set up new appointments, but make that clear somewhere!! Put in your Instagram “NOT ACCEPTING NEW APPOINTMENTS” instead of leading people on like this. Or a quick message that says “hey I’m busy right now and will be for a while. Could you message me back in June?” This has been a very frustrating, unprofessional, and disappointing experience. The only reason I’m not giving a one star review is because I haven’t met anyone else at the store and I’m sure the rest of the people here are amazing as you can see in the rest of the reviews. I really hope that this gets better.

Ive left a review before about cody, who was great. But Id like to leave one for Amy too. I had a pretty big and dark coverup on my arm that I felt a lot of tattooers would be afraid of. Amy went above and beyond my expectations. She did a wonderful job. Her artwork to begin with is amazing. But how she came up the design for my tattoo exceeded what I believe other people wouldve done. Instead of giving me just big black no face on my arm she added way more to it so it would distract the eye away from the dark space. Just outstanding. I am very thankful for it.

So I am very new to tattoos. In the last 6 days Ive gotten my first 3 tattoos, by 3 different artists, in 2 different states & 3 different cities.. I have to say out of those 3. The 3rd time was definitely a charm! My tattoo artist was Justin & he did an amazing job. He was very personable & made me feel right at home. What I loved most was that he didnt use a stencil for my tattoo. Though I have nothing against stencils. Its just even without one he did a much better job than the other two that were in deed stencils. LOVE. I will be coming back real soon! 🙏🏽

I’ve seen Jesse Skaggs both times and he has always been super friendly, accommodating, does good work and actually responds to DMs/emails.

Marissa did best friend tattoos for me and my girl. She did an amazing job and is super easy to talk to, she has great energy. Will be back to see her again for sure!

I submitted a request over 2 months ago. Never heard back. I called a month later and was told that the artist I was interested in was reopening his books and that I should expect to hear back soon. That was a month ago and I never heard back.If an artist is not open to taking more people, at least post that on the website and maybe send a short note back explaining as such.Not impressed

Amazing atmosphere with even better tattoo artists. I got a tattoo from Cody and she addressed every concern I could possibly have regarding my tattoo and the results were awesome! If I could give this place higher than 5 stars I would.

Prices are bad, the equipment was never cleaned from what I saw while my buddy was getting inked, and the artists were sub par. Pass. Ill take my designs elsewhere.

Well I wasnt at Black coffin tattoo but I was next door doing work for common apparel. from what I seen though while I was there a lot of people came through. A lot of nice tattoos so Im assuming that this is a class act place. I have quite a few tattoos and I would definitely go there to get one if I ever had the time.

Was jerked around by this shop just trying to set up an appointment with their artists. Youre expected to approach the artist that you want to work with and hope they get back to you. If they dont youre passed off to someone else who has reportedly has never heard of the artist you were trying to book or someone who MIGHT have time to do one of your designs.

I had to have my nipple and ear earrings reinstalled after an MRI. Thomas was able to quickly squeeze me in. He was very personable. Definitely recommend him.

Artist was so proud of how quickly he finished my tattoo (7 minutes). It is incredibly uneven and jagged I wish I had gone anywhere else. Please feel to reach out to me about the terrible work this place produces. The tattoos are cheap but your art will look cheaper.

Staff are super cool, accommodating and the piercing guy actually goes out of his way to make sure you are satisfied with his work. My family will go back for all our piercing needs.

Brought my girlfriend here to get her first tattoo, we couldnt have had a better experience. We came in for a consultation and found out there was an opening, so they drew out her tattoo and put it on her. She was so happy with the results, I will definitely be back for a tattoo of my own.

BCT = radgnar. Nice open space, (obviously) clean and well-maintained, zero bullshit. The tattooists here are committed to quality. Ive only been tattooed by Mike at this shop, but everybody Ive interacted with has been super awesome.Mikes been tattooing for several years and it shows. The flash he draws is unique and the custom work hes done on me is superb. He works quickly (but not sloppily, obvs) and his rates are fair. Hes as gentle as someone stabbing you repeatedly with tiny needles can be and is super approachable. Book him for your next tattoo! DO IT.

This is my second tattoo from Carol (1st tattoo not pictured) and she nailed it. I give her some vague ideas and she and she pieces it together for me. The shop is clean and all the artists are friendly. Theres a lot to look at all over the shop which I appreciate the distractions.

I recently got tattooed by Andy. He did a couple of really good traditional tattoos for me, he’s got an awesome portfolio in that style and on top of that he’s super personable. The shop is also really nice and clean with some cool decor

Got a tattoo from Jesse Skaggs, and I can not even begin to explain how happy I am with the outcome!! Jesse is an absolute BEAST! My throat piece idea was pretty cool to begin with, but after SKAGGS put his special touches on it...IT BECAME BADASS!!! I will forever be grateful and honored that Jesse did my tattoo. My tattoo artist, Charlie, was unaccommodating and on the verge of disrespectful. Furthermore, I would recommend card transactions, as they do not have cash in the register to break bills. While my service at Black Coffin was subpar, I am very content with my tattoo. However, I will not be returning to this shop.

This place is amazing! I highly recommend seeing Kelly if his style fits your aesthetic. Super solid tattoo work done by him and staff was friendly and helpful.

Highly recommend getting tattooed by Jesse hes super detail oriented and the outcome is always amazing, its also nice to know you can ask him any questions you have after your appointment when you get home too. Cant wait to come back and get another

They was very unprofessional. Very rude and and after I got pierced and said I was satisfied they kicked me out in the middle of winter and told me to stay warm. (I’m black)

OK if I could give this place a 10 star I would Tom was the best piercer EVER. I was nervous when I walked in but I immediately knew he was good the atmosphere was chill and when I seen how booked he was and all the people that got theirs done I felt alot more at ease. When I got in back he was understanding of the I wont look please dont show me anything lol I was scared so eyes closed is best. But when I say it was quick Im not lying he did my sister and I withing 20 mins it felt like. Would definitely recommend him before anyone else... I love my lip piercing thank you Tom.

Came on a Saturday as a walk in,I was seen promptly by the next available artist.Jessica was great in redrawing the idea from the original shirt logo I was using,explained what was best placement wise as well as size.Even from the start her attention to detail was great.She was friendly and professional.She was very thorough and made sure every detail was good to the original picture before she called it finished.She was very easy to work with and did an amazing job,thank you guys for the badass Birthday Tattoo 🤘

This place rules! Just left this place after getting a tattoo by Jesse Ostendorf-Skaggs. The shop was clean and organized + Skaggs was friendly and professional (in particular with a sensitive area on a female client).The drawing he came up with is awesome and the tattoo came out even better. We changed the original placement and I love love love how it came out. I might add healed pictures to this later.I would definitely recommend the space and the artist. Ask for Skaggs!

Garrett is great and he hires great artists. No judgey I’m cooler than you type of tattooists here they are all mellow and listen to your requests and have great ideas
