Buku Tattoo Studio

This was my first time to Buku Tattoo but my fourth tattoo by Catlin. The store is very clean and well kept. Everyone there is super nlfriendly. Caitlin always makes sure to take the time to understand my vision and then executes it perfectly! This butterfly is in remembrance of my grandmother and I know she is super proud of it! I highly recommend Buku Tattoo for all of your ink and or piercing needs!!!

I’ve had 2 done in the last 6 weeks by two different artists but the Eagle and flag that Caitlin did tonight is amazing! She is the best I’ve ever had. I would highly recommend her. The only reason I gave 5 stars is because there weren’t 10!!

I was recommended Buku by my boyfriend who had previously gotten a couple tattoos at this shop and I am so glad I went with them! Caitlin was the artist I had the pleasure of being tattood by and she absolutely nailed what I said I wanted. She knew the vibe I was going for with my leg sleeve and we were pitching ideas back and forth throughout the session. What we originally thought might take 2 sessions ended up being breezed through in 2.75 hours and Ive gotten tattoos at other shops that took just as long, if not longer, and her detail matches, if not exceeds, them.Needless to say, Im absolutely stoked to finish out this leg sleeve with Caitlin!

At the beginning of the year I was on the search for a good tattoo artist and studio. I found Buku online with amazing reviews, so I stopped in for a visit and met the lovely Caitlin Monita who welcomed me as a walk in. We discussed my needs, and shared similar visions. I had a couple of tattoos that I was unhappy with and looking to cover up. Let me tell you about this bomb artist !!! She is amazingly talented, has helped me transform my body and elevate the artwork that is part of who I am. Step by step we have taken this journey together, each and every time she treats me with respect, makes sure I am comfortable and happy with the art she has created for me. Yes, she customized all of my cover up work and I have received a beautiful outcome by trusting the process and giving her creative freedom. We are still progressing with new pieces and I am beyond happy to have found not only a wonderful artist but also a beautiful human being. Go see her, you will have no regrets. Or if you prefer a male artist Ray is also quite talented but Caitlin is my girl and I cant brag about her enough!

I love my new ink by Ray 💜 I kinda just let him flow with it and he created something so beautiful. I’ve been getting a lot of compliments on his art . I highly recommend him! The shop is clean and has great vibes. Everyone that works there is always welcoming and just fun to be around. During my sessions, I got to see other artists work and they are all very talented.I got some help with my piercing and got some new jewelry as well. Over all, I had a great experience there

This was my 4th tattoo (but my first in 10 years). A friend of mine recommended reaching out to Anya and I am so thankful for the recommendation! I can not possibly say enough great things about both her and the experience. Anya puts her whole heart into her work - she took the ideas I had and made them far better than I ever expected. She was engaging and friendly and kept me very comfortable throughout the entire session. The studio is also very warm and inviting. I will definitely be booking with Anya in the future for more ideas that I have. By far the best experience I’ve had getting a tattoo!

Ray is awesome and the rest of the artists and customer service super friendly and welcoming. My sister and I stopped in for some last minute thin line work and it’s exactly what we wanted. Great experience all around 🤩

I got my first tattoo done by Anya and it was an amazing experience. She has the most welcoming energy and truly puts her heart into every piece. She stayed an extra hour past closing just to finish my tattoo for me. If you are looking for local shop that has incredible artists with a great vibe in the heart of St. Pete. Buku should be the first place you check out. Their artists collectively have some of the best work I’ve seen in the area and the owner really seems to create a cohesive and chill environment for his artists which no doubt contributes to the stunning artwork they produce! There were multiple artists that had work similar to what I wanted and I feel extremely fortunate to have made it onto Anya’s books because let me tell you, the results were worth the wait!

Buku Tattoo is such a wonderful place with even more wonderful people. I was a walk-in and I had the pleasure of working Xi here at Buku. I told Xi that I wanted grapes on my arm and they took that and ran with it. They worked with me on deciding on a design and planning out the piece. Once we figured out the design, Xi went to work. Not only is Xi super talented and efficient, Xi is kind, funny, and light-hearted. The other artists working at Buku were also welcoming, funny, and relaxed. I received a tattoo from Anya, and she is absolutely incredible! She was very kind and open to all my ideas, and she created a beautiful piece. I am also very petite so artists tend to show hesitance on a lot of placement ideas, but Anya was very flexible and made it work! The shop and the other artists all have a good vibe as well. I will definitely be returning for more work in the future.

These guys are awesome. Everyone checks in and see how your ink is coming while you’re in the chair. Great atmosphere and amazing work everywhere! Will def be using these guys as my go to for tattoos all the time and I’m bringing my co workers with me next time! He completed my host arm with ease!

This was an emotional tattoo for me. It was in memory of my 25-year-old son who passed unexpectedly. I cannot say enough about Anya. Love my tattoo. I cried I laughed she made it very positive. Highly recommended, I am actually going back for her to add on to one I already have. Such a good vibe. 🌹

Anya is nothing but fantastic. I tried my best to explain to her what I wanted and she more than perfected it. Clean, nice, good art.....you know what, nah, I have to give a real review. Mickey is one of the most talented artists in the country. Check the photo for the incredible piece he did on my arm last weekend. Absolutely phenomenal. Completely changed my life for the better. I couldnt be any happier with how my arm turned out, especially when its such a heavy choice to make. The entire process with Mickey was comfortable, especially with 20 years of tattoo experience behind the gun. And best of all, hes just a damn good person, and I couldnt be more proud to support his art and keep it on my body.Thank you so much to the entire crew at Buku, youre all great people and deserve every bit of business that walks into your shop.

Buku is a great shop and full of amazing people. Tyler is an amazing guy and has done many tattoos for me! Dave is flawless with piercings, he did my kids 5, 9, and 10 year old ears and they all healed perfectly. Dave was excellent with them and talked them through everything. I really appreciate that he talked directly to them vs. talking to us parents, it is their body and he really showed his care for them and his profession. Wonderful group of people here at Buku!

My partner and I walked in to get our ear pierced today. David was super patient and polite upon entry. We were a little nervous. he was kind to answer our questions and seemed super knowledgeable. Getting the piercing was easy and comfortable. Will go back again. Got a helix tattoo.

Me and my sisters were coming down to FL from MA and I happened to find Alivia’s Instagram. The booking process was super easy as she responded so quickly. She worked with me to fit us all in on the same day which happened to be the day we were flying home. She even opened the shop early just to accommodate us and the shop is absolutely stunning. Everyone was so friendly. Alivia made sure everyone was comfortable while being tattooed. She made sure sizing and placement were perfect beforehand. It was honestly such a good experience and of course the tattoos came out AMAZING. 10/10 highly recommend.

Anya is undeniably incredible! I have gone to her, at Buku, for three tattoos now and she dose not disappoint. This latest piece is by far my largest and most intricate and Anya did a phenomenal job on it!

I stop by today for my first time experience to get a tattoo. I can not say enough praise for Ray, who is truly artistic in creation of tattoo you have in mind. My friend and I both got our tattoos done at Buku by Caitlin. She was very accommodating by doing us both on a Sunday(6hrs total). She was super funny and was a joy to be around. The rest of the staff were a hoot and the atmosphere was just what you want from a tattoo studio. She is great at her craft and look forward to having her finish this BRUTAL piece.

I had a tattoo done by Ray on Saturday and it was a great experience. He was so patient with getting the design correct. The shop has such a nice vibe, music, art and plants. I’ve gone to Buku for a piecing and 2 tattoos now and highly recommend!

I came from Orlando to check out the shop today and ended up getting my arm shaded in by Caitlin. Not only did she do a great job with the black work, but she walked me through the after care process as it had been a while since my last tattoo. Caitlin is the best tattoo artist you can go to. She’s does original work and puts a lot of care and thought into what you want. Daisy did an amazing tattoo for my son Evan! He decided to stop in to see if they could do it last minute and not only where the accommodating they were also pleasant and happy to help. What a fabulous experience with Anya! She took my ideas and created a pet memorial tattoo that far exceeded my wishes. Thoughtfully using the right flower (sweet peas for remembrance) and the perfect paw print, she has created a piece of forever art that I will always cherish. Her light touch hardly hurt and she kept the conversation engaging and made the whole experience a true delight. 10/10 would absolutely recommend!

First tattoo ever, so I was very nervous going into it, but Steph was great! She helped me nail down the font and size of font, walked through the process & what to expect and even explained after care and the healing process. LOVED her and the whole experience.

Daisy tattooed matching tattoos on me and my daughter… the tattoos are absolutely beautiful. She has an amazing hand for lettering and her great ability to shade with multiple colors and her attention to detail creates great artwork. The shop is clean and the atmosphere is relaxing. Daisy is patient and definitely takes pride in her work. We will definitely have Daisy create artwork for us in the future.

I’ve gotten tattooed by Anya years ago before I moved to New York, so when I moved back to Florida I knew I wanted to get some more done by her! She is so sweet and has such a great vision for a good tattoo - let alone her talent is unmatched. The shop also has great vibes and is not intimidating at all like most tattoo shops are. I couldn’t recommend Anya enough - I will forever go back to her for my future pieces!

Dave has done several of my piercings: nose, belly button, nipples and each time he has been extremely professional and has always made me feel very comfortable throughout the entire process. Dave is an amazing piercer and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

My sister and I got matching tattoos with Stephanie. We were planning on doing our beach tat w her and a mountain tat in Wyoming, but after seeing her fantastic work, we decided to do the mountain tat w her. What an artist!

I had a 25-year-old piece that meant a lot to me but it was badly faded and the line work had bled a bit. Caitlin did an AMAZING job reviving it. She matched the original color beautifully and fixed the bleeding lines. She is meticulous in her process and really makes you feel comfortable. She is sweet and charming and just fun to hang with and talk to while she is working. She is my go-to artist here in St Pete.

I had my tattoo done by Anya last week, and I cannot WAIT to come back and get more work done. She is sweet, talented, professional, and makes you feel so comfortable. I sent her several inspiration pictures, we narrowed it down to a few, and the big reveal was so exciting. It was so infectious seeing her excited about her own work! You want to get your tattoo done by someone who is pumped about it, it makes such a huge difference, and Anya brings such joy to her work.Overall, the process took about as long as she quoted me for. Healing so far has been a breeze, which I greatly credit to her lighter touch. I cant tell you how many people have complimented her work. My boyfriend and I originally found Buku just strolling down central together. Our first experience was with Finn, and he did my boyfriends ears and nose piercings! He was so great and he recommended us to Liv and Anya for tattoos! They are both so amazing and gave us the most beautiful tattoos. Liv is amazing at realism pieces and her line work is SO GOOD! I get compliments on the vase she did for me DAILY. I just got my tattoo from Anya and when I say she does magic, she absolutely does! Her dot work and fine lines are incredible. I highly recommend this studio, it’s very inviting and they have amazing feminine energy going on. 10/10.

I walked into Buku Tattoo Shop seeing it by chance as I was traveling on Central Ave in St Pete, Florida looking for dinner. It was my birthday and I decided it was a perfect gift to myself. I have a lot of tats. The first person who greeted me was Anya - although this Queen is booked two months in advance, she was able to take me today. Thank goodness she and the shop take walk-ins. She is the truth! Her style, attentiveness, creativity and swagger were on point! She is a hoot to talk to and very talented. The shop is small but the artists are top notch! I strongly recommend you check them out when you are in St Pete and get some forever art! You will NOT be disappointed! Anya has a customer for life!

Caitlin Monita has the lightest touch Ive ever experienced with any tatto artist.She took a design concept Ive had floating around in my head since 2009 and brought it to life by following a very specific set of instructions and following them flawlessly.The piece isnt finished yet, because on top of being an extraordinary artist, she is also a compassionate human being who lets me come in for only a few hours a month because I cant sit any longer due to injuring my back while I was in the military.If I remember, Ill come back and post a pic when its finished next month, but I assure you, dear reader, that out of the dozens of pieces Ive collected over the years, shes my favorite artist and this is my favorite piece.

I went a got a beautiful floral fox botanical piece from Anya for my first big tattoo!! She did absolutely amazing I couldn’t have hoped for a better tattoo! And not only did she do great for the tattoo, but she’s just amazing herself, I was with her for about 6 hours and at no point did I feel uncomfortable with her. I would 100% get another tattoo from her in the future! Thank you Anya and Buku!

Ray helped me design a piece dedicated to my mom. his line work and professionalism was superb. best tattoo experience i’ve ever had. his bedside manner was very calming and he kept conversation through the entire tattoo. the shop is very clean and well organized. 10/10, will be going again

I went to get a tattoo here from Anya and she was fantastic! We had to change my appointment so i was a little nervous but it was one of the best sessions i ever had! Anya is very personal and knows how to talk to people, my mom came with me and they chatted the whole time which really put me at ease. Buku tattoo studio was highly recommended to me by a friend when I decided to get a new piercing. My piercer moved away so I was looking for a new shop to get poked at. Rachelle was absolutely amazing. She is so sweet, so kind, and so gentle. I absolutely recommend getting pierced from Rachelle. She took the time to make sure everything was even and perfect. The owner (I believe) was also in the shop at the time and he was also very sweet. His work is insanely awesome, I look forward to getting more work done here.

I had a really great experience at Buku. I didn’t have an appointment and at first my friend and I were told to come back much later. The owner, Ray, saw us sitting out front and he took the time to listen to what I was looking for and ultimately decided to do the tattoo a few moments later since it was pretty simple. He took the time to make sure the placement was just right. The whole process was very quick and I could barely feel getting the tattoo. It ended up looking amazing! I am very happy. Ray was very nice and made me feel comfortable throughout the process. I highly recommend this tattoo shop!

Caitlin was my tattoo artist and she was absolutely incredible. She was willing to work with me on my design and even offered to cover up part of an old tattoo that has been annoying be for over a year. She has a great personality and makes you feel safe and listened to while you’re in her chair . My tattoo came out great and it was such a positive experience, I will be going back to her to finish up my half sleeve soon!!

This is an awesome tattoo shop. All the people that work here are friendly, welcoming, and the atmosphere is great. Ray did an amazing job on my tattoos, going above my expectations. I appreciated how my tattoos were treated like a piece of artwork and time was spent making sure we were both happy with the design before getting started. The shop is run very professionally, but still has a laid back feel and I honestly just enjoy hanging out in there. I have only had work done by Ray, but being in there I see that all the artists are very talented and take their work seriously. Great place!

The service here was immaculate. My artist Caitlin was super sweet and enthusiastic about my tattoos and ideas and really helped me through my first back tattoo. My piercer finn was also super considerate and good company while they pierced my septum and ear. He helped me with aftercare as well. 10/10 do recommend.

Ray made me feel comfortable and relaxed when tattooing and worked with me on the artwork to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. I had a flat piercing done on my ear here by Finn, and I can’t recommend this place enough! Finn is super knowledgeable, friendly, and fun to be around. I originally wanted a helix piercing on my ear, but after picking the jewelry, Finn recommended a different placement. So happy with the decision! Great jewelry selection, super clean, and awesome people.

So happy to have found this spot during quarantine last year. I have three different tattoos I’ve gotten at Buku. My most recent was done by Anya. This was probably the most enjoyable tattoo experience I’ve ever had. Anya is the most beautiful soul you can meet with. Her work is gorgeous and her hand is so delicate! I barely felt my sternum tattoo and she made me laugh the entire time.(well before and after the tattoo lol) I highly recommend this shop.

My daughter got her septum pierced by Finn about two weeks ago and the entire process was fabulous and so was Finn, he explained everything in detail and made her super comfortable. The shop has some amazing art work, if I remember correctly most of them are done by the tattoo artist that owns/runs the shop and some are available for purchase. The portfolios have phenomenal work in them and I am excited to go get some work done here. .

Dave is the single most gifted piercer i have ever had the pleasure of working with, he has done 2 nostrils, my dimples, snake bites, medusa, and eyebrows - when he did my brows i didn’t even feel them! I look forward to working with him again in the future!!

I received my first tattoo from buku tattoo sometime last year and was blown away by the quality and friendly atmosphere. Artist Anya left me with such a clean tattoo that I quickly went back to get three more tattoos done and plan to get many more done by her. Couldn’t recommend her enough. Came here with my girlfriend and her dad, and saw Anya for tattoos. Such amazing work from her and a great personality. The whole vibe of the shop was both professional and relaxed. Had the best experience with both Anya and Ray. I will definitely be coming back for more work! Highly recommend Buku and give it a 20/10 rating.

I’m bummed to say my tattoo did not turn out great because I loved the tattoo artist she was so sweet. But I was charged over $300 for a small finger tattoo (this one was fine) and a flower that was covering up a little symbol I had. I had to pay again for another tattoo shop to cover it up and it’s amazing now, but this is what the artist at Buku did. You can see the lines aren’t great or the shading… not worth the $(The dragonfly was done elsewhere and that is where I went to get my flower covered up - it now looks professional and was half the price)

Called today (2/13/22) asking if they could take me since usually you have to book an appointment and it could take a couple days for that, but they were so sweet and took my number and texted me asking what I wanted, location, and when! Even better, they were able to take me that same day! My artist was Cherise and she was the BEST!!! So sweet, super gentle, and did such a great job!! 100/10 recommend!!! THANK YOU ALL!!

I had a really amazing experience at Buku with Anya. Four women in my family came in to celebrate my mothers 80th birthday with tattoos in her honor. Anya took our idea of using my moms favorite flower and turned it into unique and beautiful pieces for all of us. We spent most of the day at the shop listening to music, talking and spending time as three generations of women. All of the artwork was beautiful and Anya’s artistry and calming positive vibes just made it all special.

I’ve been working with anya for over 3 years now. she actually gave me my first tattoo. she always makes sure i’m comfortable and feeling good while in her chair. i always come unprepared with little inspiration and if you give her a little creative freedom she will take it and she will nail it! always ALWAYS accommodating and works with your schedule! I searched around for a place to get my nose pierced and came across this shop. From the beginning, Fin was awesome, made me feel comfortable and asked about my long term goals with my piercing. He specially recommended a stud that would work with wanting a hoop in the future. It’s been a week and my nose is healing well, and I’m loving it! Go see Finn, 100% recommend him!

I have had the pleasure of getting tattooed at Buku twice. The environment of the entire shop is so welcoming and chill. I was tattooed by Shaggy both times and he was so kind, gentle, and one of the most genuine human beings I have been able to share an experience with. Every time I am in the state of Florida I have to make time to come see him. This year my dad came with me and he got tattooed by another artist and received the same amazing experience. 10/10 will always recommend.

Walked in today and was greeted by the owner. Even on Easter they were able to get us in quickly and give us a GREAT tattoo. I recommend Caitlin. She was phenomenal and so kind. We are out of state residents but would happily make another trip for this shop.

I came to Anya with a cover mission and a very vague idea on what I wanted. I immediately loved the shop because of its creative aesthetic. She very patiently worked with me and helped me come up with a wonderful idea for the piece, we are slowly turning a mistake into a beautiful art piece. One of the most professional shops I’ve ever been to. Ray was incredibly professional through the whole process and did one of the best tattoos I have. Would go again without a doubt in my mind. Pricing was very fair and the shop atmosphere is calm and welcoming. Living in Texas, this is a shop I would wait until I’m in Florida to get work done at.

Not sure where to start, the studio was clean and gave of super positive vibes. Shaggy was extremely friendly and accommodating. He was able to get myself and two of my friends in at the last minute and stayed pretty late to give each of us the art that we wanted. We are all very happy with our pieces and will be making appointments to go back in the future. Safe, quality art at a very fair price. This place is awesome! Tattooed 5 people in no time!Ive been to a lot of shops, but this was one of the best. Shaggy is a great artist, let alone a great guy. He did a perfect palm tree free machine style with no drawing or stencil. I also left my ID there and he tracked me down and delivered it to me afterwards. 100% great customer service during, and after. I cant recommend this place enough. Shaggy, Ill see you soon man! Buku tattoo is THE place to go. I originally had a tattoo scheduled with another artist at a different tattoo shop. That particular shop was not very friendly and the tattoo artist didn’t seem interested in my tattoo or my thoughts on the piece. I ended up canceling that appointment and found ANYA. I am SOOO glad I decided to make this switch! Everyone in the Buku tattoo shop was friendly, interesting and just flat out cool. Anya made my experience the best its ever been. She talked to me, shared fun stories, we laughed and she always checked in. I get a little anxious before tattoos and Anya had no problem putting my anxieties to rest prior to my appointment (I texted her a few times acting nervous and she just always made it better). I absolutely LOVE my tattoo and get compliments on it on the daily. If you want a beautiful detailed piece done, you have to go to her ❤️ I will 100% go back to Buku and refer all friends to this shop! (Anya did all of the artwork around my forearm except the little phrase)

My friends and I decided to get matching Golden Girls tattoos and were so lucky to get Caitlin as our artist. She was so sweet and worked with us every step of the way to make sure our designs were exactly what we wanted. The prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend using her if youre in the area!

Had a great experience at Buku! Shaggy brought my tattoo to life better than I ever expected! His line work is really well done, and the shading is to die for! I was extremely nervous and finding a piercer who would make me feel comfortable was so hard! I came across *Rachelle* and read amazing reviews about her and decided to go see her. She made the entire process easy and I absolutely loved my experience. She’s so sweet, reassuring, and she let me ask as many questions as I wanted to. My husband got AMAZING work done by anya! She took great care to make sure placement was perfect from all angles. She does extremely clean and straight lines, shes light handed, and she was super friendly. I have been here for a couple things between my wife and I and this shop really does a great job of taking care of the people who walk in the door. Very friendly, and very professional establishment. I would recommend Ray Prather because that is who I have been seeing up there, but I have seen other artist do some amazing work as well.Ray has been so helpful and open to our ideas and he makes your tattoo experience very comfortable and relaxing, along with his attention grabbing work!I would highly recommend that you go to Buku if you want to get a tattoo in this area.

I recently visited Buku with my mom, nana, and cousin to receive my first 3 tattoos, my nanas first (at 80!!), and new additions to what my mom/cousin already have. We all worked with Anya who is just an absolute angel. I was very nervous but felt so incredibly safe and taken care of during our time with her. She was so incredibly patient with and considerate of our family who spent almost 8 hours with her as she carefully designed and tattooed each of us.We all got Edelweiss flowers for my Nana’s 80th birthday (her favorite flower) and I added in a pride/chakra dot tattoo, and xoxo in my nana’s handwriting with the heart drawn by my mom. Anya made sure that each design was unique to the person getting it and really embodied what our visions were for them. She was very helpful with placement and letting us try different spots as well.Anya is magic and such a great artist. Her fine lines, dot work, and overall delicacy is just gorgeous. She’s such a deeply kind and welcoming individual and it felt like hanging out with a friend. She truly went above and beyond for us and we are forever grateful. I cannot wait to get my next piece of art from her!

After giving it much thought, I decided to give myself a tattoo for my 75th birthday. Tats are no big deal for those under 40 but in my age cohort they are not nearly as common and honestly considered something just for young folks. But I had strong motivation because of the image I had selected which meant a great deal to me and the advent of lots of color in modern tattoos. I view modern beautifully colored tats as beautiful works of art.My son who has a tat simply said, “Dad make sure you pick the right artist, it’s for the rest of your life.” I did some pretty good due diligence. What I discovered is that St. Petersburg is blessed with a lot of talented Tattoo artists. Given the rest of St. Pete’s rep for a city of the Arts I don’t know why this surprised me.So, the choice took a while. I checked out several shops, again they were also good, but I got the best vibe from BUKU and when I expressed I was looking for COLOR they told me to talk to Caitlin. BINGO!Caitlin was amazing. She does beautiful color work as you can see in her portfolio. I went to FB and found out what an extraordinary human being she is in addition to being incredibly talented. This is important! She completely understood what I was looking to achieve. She understood my motivation and choices. In addition she is so sweet she put with my nervous nelly apprehension in the weeks leading up to the day. It’s as if she read my mind, had the talent to execute precisely what I had in mind. The result is EXACTLY what I had envisioned. I have a beautiful piece of artwork on my thigh! My son is jealous and says he’ll have to get a match. lol

Finn is an incredible piercer! Both professional and gentle. Finn took the time to talk with me about which piercings would look good on me and which jewelry would be the best. I got 2 piercings(tragus and a helix) and some jewelry changed out(helix and forward helix) at my appointment. I can hardly wait for my next piercing by Finn 🙌

Great place to get quality artwork when it comes to tattoos. I have gotten three in the last 8 months there and had a great experience each time. If you need artist recommendations, Shaggy and Tyler are amazing! Everyone is very friendly and professional. The shop is very clean and they are reasonably priced. They do specials on the first Friday of every month, but get there early because it’s first come first serve and they get extremely busy from the moment they open the doors! Can’t wait to go back and get more ink.

I was super excited for my tattoo appointment with Shaggy. I notified him of my arrival five minutes before my scheduled appointment. He finished up the girl before me and I waited in my car over 30 minutes as they sat there chatting with one another. I decided to leave. I kind of felt he didnt really want to do my tat, if thats the case he shouldnt have booked my appointment. Ill be looking somewhere more professional and considerate to get my tat done.

I booked an appointment here weeks ago and sent a picture of what i wanted when girl Liv/Alivia agreed to see me and asked for the deposit. She then changed my appointment which is fine i did have to change my work schedule a bit but not a big deal. Few weeks after on the day of the appointment she texted me and showed me alternative and said she could not use my initial photo. One she sent me was completely different of what i wanted (i mean totally different) so i told her its not what i want, she showed me another choice which again was different from what i asked, so i told her i really did not feel comfortable going with different thing since i had this specific work in mind for almost a year. She first said she doesn’t freehand thats why she needs a clearer photo since she is working with stencils, then when i said okay then i’ll just find someone else and asked for deposit back she then came up with another excuse said copying the work would be plagiarism, yet pictures she was showing me were from Pinterest (as she said) done by a different artists. Then she said u cant see the whole tattoo which clearly you can, i found another artist that already has showed me how it will look like. Bottom line she said she cannot do what i want (which she was ok doing before i sent the money) and then refused to give deposit back. She also added she is specializes in realism and my tattoo was Japanese style, i dont understanding if you dont feel comfortable and confident why would you agree to do it then say u cant do it and refuse to give deposit back. She tried to tell me that deposit was non refundable, which she failed to mention before i gave the money. And its not like I’m canceling because i changed my mind, i was simply presented different idea that i was not comfortable with getting. I guess it was either being forced a tattoo i dont like, or lose the money.P.s when i went in to get my deposit back she started yelling and cussing lol maybe hiring mature people would be a better option.

Buku tattoo is amazing! This place is full of talented artists and great energy. Its one of those places you walk into and you become super inspired by the artists and their work. I recommend all my friends and family here. They also do $13 tattoos on 1st Fridays!

My partner got a septum piercing and I got my ears done. The piercer, Rachelle, was extremely knowledgeable and honestly, she should go teach at medical schools and nursing programs with how effective her sanitation procedures and bedside manners are. I was very impressed. Theres an area where the tattoos happen and another for the piercing, so its clean and comfortable.

The only shop in St Pete if you want something unique and done right. Got my first piece done here by Ray and he knocked it out the park. He did my friends piece as well and it came out looking phenomenal Amazing artists and super friendly/chill environment. Would recommend a million times over. I wont even consider going to another artist.

Just recently got a matching rose/heart shaped tattoo with my mom. Our artist showed a lot of interest in our idea and drew us a fresh new design nailing everything that we were going for. Shaggy Doo was our artist and he was generous enough to last minute stay after hours to finish both our tattoos since my mom had to leave early the next day. He had a gentle hand and made us feel comfortable 100% even played great music, it was an awesome experience.

Lala/lollipop is my girllll like I kid you not three piercings in and hers is the only one that’s healed correctly. Follow ups and real care are what sets her apart from others!! I’ve been to three piercers in st Pete and she’s the only one I haven’t had a bad or strange experience with.

Anya is a great artist and there are only good vibes in this studio. Came in for a pretty difficult coverup and Anya knocked it out of the park. I highly recommend coming here for any work you need and I know I will be coming back for more.

Decided to get my first piece done here after about 5 other consultations from places in st. Pete and Tampa and it was the best decision I could have made. Ray was great! The Buku studio is real clean and quiet. Can’t wait to get the rest of my sleeve done here.

We came as a walk in trying to find out prices and availability it was our first time at this shop and we loved every minute of it, It has a very laid-back atmosphere while also staying very professional place is clean and it has a lot cool art on the walls done by the artists, Everyone was very nice and welcoming. My friend and I were both tattooed by Ray he did an awesome job from the beginning taking the time to make sure we had a perfect image and that we liked what we were getting done, hes very gentle and the tattooing part went very smooth, we could not be happier. Ray is not just awesome artist, but a pretty cool guy to hang out with while getting tattooed 😎. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone wanting to get tattooed in St Pete beach area dont waste your time trying to find another shop I stop in different ones and they were very expensive or super rude and for me customer service is a plus thats why I really like buku tattoo and I would definitely go back if I find myself in Tampa again! 😉

Where do I start.. first off all they took me in the day of with no appointment! I have wanted to get a very special tattoo for my mom and had been putting it off but had multiple things tell me that today was the day:) they saw me day of and were so friendly, welcoming and kind. Ray thank you and I don’t remember the other guys name but we vibed thanks guys!!! Will def be back for future tattoos and will def recommend to friends :)

I got a back piece from when they were at their first location years ago! But i was back in town and wanted very simple and meaningful to me. They dont normally do allot of script tattoos, but they were so nice and did it anyway. Everyone is very chill and nice, the art work is amazing. Theres allot of talent in this place.

Ray killed it, excited for him to work up the rest of this sleeve. Hes insanely artistically talented.

I am sad to say that I am not happy with my tattoo or part of my experience. I thought I did enough research to find the right place but I did not. I looked at some of the pictures on their Google Listing and really was impressed though so I called to make an appointment on a Saturday to which they said I didnt need to do. I came in later that night and explained that I wanted a heart on my wrist, maybe the size of a quarter. A black outline, nothing more and I was told it would be $100. I havent gotten a tattoo in years and didnt think to question it. Shaggy did my tattoo. Nice guy, although he talked to some of the other guys while doing my tattoo, it was really important for them to order pizza RIGHT at that moment. I didnt think anything of it. I did question one section at the end and he gave me his card and told me to call him if I didnt like it once it healed. It has been about 4 weeks now and I dont love it. (ironic, its a heart). There are sections that are slightly blown out and the lines are different thickness. I wanted a super clean line, maybe I should have made sure in advance that was something he felt comfortable with. I am sorry that I am writing this review without contacting him first (he was really nice) I am sure he would offer to fix it, but I dont feel comfortable with that. I also think $100 is pretty steep for what it is. The point at the top of the heart isnt clean and neither is the bottom lefthand corner. Maybe I am super picky, but I have asked a few of my friends who have quite a few tattoos to look at it and they agree with me.

Huge and warm thank you to Rachelle for helping me put in a piercing that fell out! She responded immediately when I reached out, was clearly knowledgable about piercings, and was, most notably, so helpful and kind. Will definitely come back to Rachelle if I decide to get any other piercings!

Buku tattoos is an amazing welcoming place w a rrly good co worker environment. All of the artists are amazing especially Anya love her. My go to tattoo spot!

I got a tattoo at this shop from the lovely Caitlin Monita and it was a very pleasant experience. She was willing to work with me on any design, the shop was clean and inviting, and the overall vibe was on point. I would 100% recommend this shop to anyone.

We should have known the moment we walked in something was off, but we were tempted by the cheap first Friday flash sale. It was immediately obvious there was only one actually sanitary artist, Caitlin, so we were happy to wait for her to be available. Unfortunately it seemed like problem after problem came up with the machine and after making a single line on my husband, made the decision not to tattoo him after all.We should have just left then, but for some reason we thought someone would be professional enough to let us know what was up, that there were no other artists we would be comfortable with. Instead, we waited for over two hours and left with absolutely nothing but that initial mark.Single star because another member of our party was pierced by Dani and it was a pleasant and professional 10 minutes out of a two hour nightmare. Between the constant purposeful misgendering and the staff of grubby white men who obviously dont care enough about themselves to wash their hair, it was a horrible introduction to the adorable town of St. Pete. I guess if youre a transphobic college kid whos looking for a step up from a scratcher you could have an okay time, but even then for the same price Atomic Tattoos in the mall will have you in and out with no bull. Buku obviously cares more about the aesthetic of their waiting room than the comfort of their customers.

Absolutely go to Rachelle for all of your piercing needs! She fixed a botched nose piercing for me and was very patient, reassuring, and professional. She goes above and beyond to work with your schedule as well. Id give 10 stars if I could!

Shaggy did a single line tattoo for me on my arm that I absolutely love! I wasnt sure what I wanted so I sent him some photos of things I wasnt 100% sold on and he created the perfect design for me. 10/10 recommend

Im actually very disappointed and was pretty embarrassed. We walked in to get matching tattoos, and I explained our situation. It was a special day for us and we wanted to commemorate it with a tattoo. I told the artists of my HIV status, and we were told that they wouldnt do the tattoo for me. So we left, didnt cause a scene or anything, but it was very sad, disappointing, and embarrassing. Its 2019, as a company thats in this business, you should know how to handle this. It could be any other disease that spreads through blood, but when you say HIV, you panic. Please educate your staff so youre more available to members in your community, instead of ostracizing them.

Got my 1st tattoo here by Anya. She was really gentle(well as gentle as you can be with a tattoo gun😅) and my healing period wasnt bad at all.I will totally be a return customers.
